You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review.
Adam Thorne
What a bizarre thing we've created now with your host, Adam Thorne. This might either be the worst podcast or the best one. One go. Enjoy the show. All right, folks, we're here for another Joe Rogan Experience Review. First off, we want to give a shout out to some of our Patreons. Well, the one that I have pulled up in front of me. Rachel Xander just joined. Thank you so much. If you're a listener of this podcast, you want to support us. The best way to do that, head over to Patreon. You know, look through the different tiers we have. We've got more to come with what we're doing with Patreon, but we really appreciate that support. This week we are talking about Theo Vaughn. Theo Vaughn on Rogan. And I have a little clip just to start it off that I believe they're talking about Alex Jones. Here we go.
Theo Vaughn
I certainly think there's a percentage of.
Adam Thorne
That conversation is real. This is what conversation you mean? When people think that people have been co opted okay by the government like that they've become, what are they? What is that one that they like to use controlled opposition. That's what. If you want to pretend to be a smart conspiracy theorist, you have to say controlled opposition. I could easily see bro in two weeks, Tom Segura will be playing this guy. He looks great. That's all it is. He looks great. He does.
Theo Vaughn
But he.
Adam Thorne
But he doesn't look like the same person. Not at all, dude. Because he's laid off the booze. He's laid off the booze. He's not eating any. I don't even know. A lot, bro. Really?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Can you bring those back up, please? Panic pedophiles all day long. Yeah. Yeah. Sometimes you want to take. That's Theo and Joe getting into it, getting heated, having a great time, and discussing Alex Jones losing a ton of weight. Clean himself up.
Theo Vaughn
I mean, good for him. It's, you know, it's a big, big thing to do to kind of turn yourself around your life, and especially when, like they said, you spend your days digging into crazy conspiracies and things that. So dark. And I would drink, too.
Adam Thorne
Yeah. That must get so exhausting if that's all you're looking at. Right. At least watch, like, cute kitten videos.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
For, you know, a few minutes a day.
Theo Vaughn
Give yourself a break. At least you won't have nightmares.
Adam Thorne
Ugh. I can't imagine his sleeping is good. Especially after the recent lawsuit issues.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
That he's had. I will say one thing. Theo seemed sharper this time. Yeah, he was a little off last time. He kept asking Joe, like, is that making sense? Am I doing okay? I'm freaking out. I don't know what was happening with him, but, yeah, Joe was pretty good about just keeping the ball rolling and keeping the pod going. And I. You know, I think Theo got over it. But, yeah, this time around, bit more excited, you know, and this. This is a bit of a. Kind of getting close to the inauguration. You know, Theo obviously played his part in interviewing Trump, and we know Rogan did, so I think that there's. There's just more of that kind of conversation of what's happening right now to have between them. Yeah. You know, again, it doesn't take anything away from the silliness and the fun of anytime Theo comes on, but at the same time, it's like, hey, let's get into kind of what's going on. It's going to be interesting to see what happens with Theo as his podcast continues to get big. He's still going to be Theo Vaughn, but with access to the type of people that he can interview. Now, just because of the size of it, I wonder if he will start delving into more serious issues. And he has plenty of moments of being serious as well.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Back to what you said first, like, the. Theo was on. Like he was on top form, like he was himself. And I said it in the last time he was on, which was not that long ago, that he seemed off. He seemed sad. I was feeling for him, wanted to give him a big hug. I'm like, theo, poor guy. Like, let's bring you back to life. And over the last few months since then, Big, he's had a big couple of months. And so that. That, I guarantee, played into his mindset and his demeanor. And, you know, I don't know. I don't follow Theo's podcast nearly as closely as Joe, but he. Has Joe ever been on. He's. He just recently went on Theo's podcast as well.
Adam Thorne
And Joe's been on before.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yes. Okay. I mean, I. I haven't had a chance to listen to it. I don't know if anyone out there has, but I just imagine that having this, like, now, like, what's the word? It's like they've both interviewed Trump, and they both, like, are sort of aligned, and they're probably views right now, and in their excitement for what's to come, that there's sort of this, like, camaraderie that they have.
Adam Thorne
It's a bit of an elite podcasting group.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Still am surprised that Trump chose Theo only because, I mean, Theo's definitely big enough. His podcast is definitely big enough to warrant it. Just to me, it was a surprising match. And another surprising part of it was that it was really good. It had some points that I was just like, oh, this is exactly what we want to be hearing from this conversation. And, you know, especially him getting into it about drugs or what cocaine does, and just having Trump kind of analyzing the other end of it, it's. It still blows my mind. Yeah, that happened. I don't know if Theo was just, like, nervous or just being him or. He must have been nervous.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, he had to have been.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
I mean, who wouldn't be?
Adam Thorne
I think the only interviewer that wasn't was Rogan. Yeah, Rogan was just Rogan. With Trump, it's kind of one of his superpowers, is that he can always just be normal.
Theo Vaughn
But, you know, what I said this to the other day, Rogan, for a minute there, he looked a bit red. He looked a bit inflamed. Like, must have been the holidays. Caught the best of him.
Adam Thorne
It was the holidays.
Theo Vaughn
But he. He's been looking really good the last week or so. Like, just looks real healthy. He seems to have a lot more.
Adam Thorne
Energy, and he's probably doing some sober January stuff, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Probably just kind of giving himself a bit of a break.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
I think with the club and just the life that he has. And obviously, you know, he does a protect your parks.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
And, you know, Shane's around, and it's probably just fun and exciting to just kind of fall back into going down to Mitzi's bar at your club and having a drink here and there. The end of the day, he's in his late 50s.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
He's got to take breaks. He knows it and it'll work out for him when he does. And you probably do kind of see it in his face on the podcast.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
You know, just like, it's. I don't know, less round.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Yeah, it's interesting. It's like all of a sudden, I was like, oh, he seems to look, like, way healthier today. You know, just like, way, like less uncomfortable almost. And. And, yeah, I mean, it's like he lost 10 years, you know?
Adam Thorne
Yeah, he did. He does. All of his moments are looking swollen.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Let's talk a little bit about the U.S. ban on TikTok.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, they touched on that.
Adam Thorne
It was, what, the 18th or 19th that they banned it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, the 19th yesterday.
Adam Thorne
Right.
Theo Vaughn
And yet I think I wasn't sure it was going to happen. And it did for a very short amount of time. Right. Yeah, the.
Adam Thorne
I think it was. I think it was like shots fired across the bow. It's like a warning that something is to come. Look, we have the power to turn this off. We will play by our rules.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
What rules are we looking for? To be determined, but I think it's something like that happening. I mean, there must have been a shitload of wealthy Tiktokers out there freaking out about this.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. I mean, people have made seven figures.
Adam Thorne
You know, how do they make money on TikTok? Is it just like YouTube? The more people that watch your, you know, dances or whatever the heck they're doing over there?
Theo Vaughn
I believe so. It's kind of like all those platforms are the same. Unfortunately, I've yet to figure it out for myself. But, you know, it's like, you know, advertising numbers, subscribers, you can, you know, pay, you know, like, similar to Patreon for people, for content creators. But, yeah, people have done really well. It's been a great outlet for A lot of individuals that have, you know, like, you know, a lot of my feeds are stay at home moms and it's like it's been this outlet for them to be able to provide for their families. And I mean, of course the big names, you know, there's the cat sicklers and things like that that are like really, really, really, really popular, but just that your average everyday individual can do okay on these platforms if you are consistent and you create good content. And I think it's also an outlet just in general for people to kind of put their opinions and their thoughts and their energy into something and like just put it out into the void kind of.

Theo Vaughn
And then you can sort of like find this community of people that, that like aligns with you, right? And so I was sure it wouldn't last forever. It was too big, right? TikTok's too big to be banned forever. And the message said, you know, when people log, you know, opened the app and they were dick, couldn't access anything. Our friend Donald Trump is, you know, promised to figure this out and before the day was over, it was back up, right?
Adam Thorne
So they've come to some deal, it looks like.
Theo Vaughn
It's hard to say what, but yeah, the, the, the content before it went out and right after it came back was quite funny though, like people being like, oh, here's all my dirty darkest secrets and here's all the things that I been holding out on you to tell you. But now that TikTok's going away, like I'm gonna bled it all out or whatever and people being like so sappy and dramatic and then all of a sudden it's back up and then they're.
Adam Thorne
Like, here we are.
Theo Vaughn
They're like, oh, hi.
Adam Thorne
Well, but maybe they thought that it was forever. I mean, you know, you never, you.
Theo Vaughn
Couldn'T have done it.
Adam Thorne
Well, you're, you're supplying media to people in five second increments. You're the creator. Maybe they have the attention span of a goldfish as well. And if you tell them it's banned, they're like, that's forever. Yeah, there's no way around it. We can't be patient. Well, I mean TikTok says online 1.69 billion users. That's massive.
Theo Vaughn
That's a lot.
Adam Thorne
I mean that's just incredible.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it was funny. I saw was a Babylon bee post and it was like, oh, they're great. It was like Gen z angry about TikTok banned for 4 seconds or 6, 4 minutes or 6 seconds or something. Because that's as long as their attention span lasts. Thanks to TikTok. It's so good. It's so good. You know, and yeah, I mean I do think there's good and bad with all these platforms. Like we've, you know, kind of when Mark winds up was on, we talked a lot about, you know, Facebook and meta and the good and the bad with all of those. And obviously X has had its ups and downs with, you know, limiting content and things like that, but filtering it. But I think TikTok is great. I'm glad that it's back up for those content creators that make a living doing it. And I say keep the entertainment coming.
Adam Thorne
Yeah, I think this is a little different than the pressure that the Biden administration was putting on Facebook and before that Twitter. That was very politically motivated. This doesn't seem like, oh, this is Trump putting pressure on TikTok so that it has more right wing content. I think, I think it was just seen as a real national security threat potentially. It's just giving China so much access to the user's data and you know, there are adversary. And what are they doing with it. Yeah, I mean in the same way they banned Huawei phones, it's like they would have had tech in our hands. Those phones are good. They could do a lot of things. They were super advanced and at the same time, you know, they were finding out that it had a bunch of kind of software in there just siphoning information from.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, but I mean there's so much technology and goods and things that are produced in China that I feel like there's a potential that they're used. I mean, microchips in our phones and all these widgets and like they could absolutely be spying on us anyways.
T Mobile Representative
Right.
Adam Thorne
I think the point is they're sending a message.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
They're saying, hey, don't make it. Don't, don't be crazy with this stuff. We're gonna, we're gonna be on to you and it's gonna cost a lot of money. I mean, I'm sure even, you know, banning TikTok for one day resulted in millions of dollars of lost revenue. So it's, it's like a taste of what they're. The government is capable of doing.
Theo Vaughn
I wonder how many US users there are, because that 1.9 billion would be global, right? Yeah, yeah.
Adam Thorne
It's still a lot.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, it's. It obviously was a message sent and received pod. I guess suppose turning it off, turning back on seemed to alleviate the concern enough that they felt like it was okay.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
To keep it back up. So. Yeah, I guess we'll just wait and see. They, these two, they went on some pretty random topics. One of them being like, you know, in. When you go to like a bar, like a gas station, and they have those pickled eggs on the.
Adam Thorne
They're very popular in England.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Many bars or pubs we call them, but many have just a big jar of pickled eggs that may have been there for decades. Nobody knows.
Theo Vaughn
One time you asked me to make them and I'm like, not only do I have to boil hard, make hard boiled eggs, which I think are absolutely vile, and then I have to pickle them and it's like, how could they get any worse? Oh, pickle them.
Adam Thorne
It's so good. You don't like pickle things?
Theo Vaughn
No, I do. I guess I do really like pickled things, but not eggs.
Adam Thorne
Pickled protein. It's the way think about it, if you eat pickles, that's just like a cucumber. Useless.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Pickled.
Adam Thorne
At least get some protein in there.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. I guess. I don't know, I don't know what it. Because I very much enjoy almost all things pickled. So maybe, maybe it would make it better. But there's something about an egg being pickled.
Adam Thorne
Yeah. You just don't really like eggs. Yeah, I don't like eggs, but it's not that weird. Also, pickled onions are amazing.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
You know, I get what they're saying though, in those gas stations. It's sometimes like, how long has this Been on the truck for.
Theo Vaughn
Well, but like everything in gas stations is like questionable, so I don't know. Yeah, that's not really any different.
Adam Thorne
If you're worried about your health, you should not be eating much from a gas station. That's reasonable. On road trips. I'll do it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Because, you know, you just kind of end up stopping.
Theo Vaughn
Favorite road trip food.
Adam Thorne
I always do some jerky, corn nuts of some flavor. I'll mix that up.
Theo Vaughn
Aren't those pretty bad for your teeth?
Adam Thorne
Not great.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Adam Thorne
Not great for your teeth. Probably not great for your body.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. No.
Adam Thorne
And then for some reason I always do a Dr. Pepper and I never drink sodas.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
But for some reason that goes with road trips. I mean, you know, you're just trying to keep yourself going on the road.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Yeah. I like Dr. Pepper, sour, skittles, any kind of chips. Yeah. So there's no rules. Calories don't count on road trips.
Adam Thorne
Gas stations have been supplying that type of thinking.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
And desires for some time. And there is something about like you're not eating a salad on the road. It's just so rare.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Like they have all the delicious junk.
Theo Vaughn
Also, like one of the only times that we eat fast food, like, is on road trips, you know, because it's convenient and it makes sense.
Adam Thorne
The only thing I will always stay away from, though is that like little rotisserie sausage. And you know, they have like, the. What are those, chiquitos. How do you say that? Those things.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, yeah.
Adam Thorne
Or anything rolling on the, the little spindles. I'm not, I'm just, I. I'm not touching it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Do it. No, it's too much for me.
Theo Vaughn
Well, and I mean, sometimes the big gas stations, they have like reasonable food, like, but you know, I usually just go for anything in like the cold section. Like that seems safer, but maybe not.
Adam Thorne
Sometimes though, you look at the sandwiches and I don't know if you've ever noticed this, but they have like a two or three week sell by date and it's like, wait, this is butter and mayo and meat.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
What the heck have they put in this thing that allows it to last that long? And they don't, they don't taste the same as like any type of sandwich you get anywhere else.
Theo Vaughn
Just preservatives.
Adam Thorne
Special.
Theo Vaughn
It's just nice secrets, secret sauce preservatives that America is great at.
Adam Thorne
You think, you think RFK is just going to close all the gas stations? I mean, that seems, it seems like a health disaster going on in the.
Theo Vaughn
Let's just start making a lot of noise about it. Talking about health, red dyes and gas.
Adam Thorne
Stations talking about health. And just like the clip at the beginning, Alex Jones, bit of a conspiracy online. Even with his fans. He's been co opted.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Anything with Alex Jones is, is, you know, gonna have a conspiracy circle in it somewhere. I think it is good that Joe is like, hey, stay in contact with him. Yeah, we're texting. Yeah, okay, I know the guy.
Theo Vaughn
So the conspiracy goes that they've basically took him out of off the face of the earth and replaced him with a look alike that's thinner and healthier and they can control.
Adam Thorne
Could be a robot Alex Jones.
Theo Vaughn
Because of course you cannot get healthy in America unless there's a conspiracy behind it or unless you're ill. Right. Like mentally ill. Right. Like there's no valid reason in America.
Adam Thorne
So you know, maybe he's got Ozempic.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. Like him and the rest of the country.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Did you see anything, any of the content from Golden Globes and how thin everyone looked?
Adam Thorne
No. Was it always epic stuff?
Theo Vaughn
I mean. Yeah, it has to be like. I mean maybe, maybe it's just like that much of a movement and the celebrities are.
Adam Thorne
It's not as gross as many medications because like it's better than everyone being obese. Right.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. I don't really have a too much to say about it with T Mobile.

Other than the one person I know that's on it personally, we don't have to say, we won't say who, but.
Adam Thorne
We got to keep certain things.
Theo Vaughn
If I have to hear them say one more time that they just don't eat that much anymore and that they're full, I'm going to throw some food at them.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
It's like one of those things that I just. I'm like, okay, great, just stop eating then. But yeah, we spent quite a bit of time with this person over the holidays. Love him to death. One of my favorite people in the whole wide world, you know, and. But I just wanted to be like, shut the fuck up. Like, I get it. You're not eating that much, you're not hungry. It's a chemical, you know, response to this medication you're on. And they've lost weight and they look great and they feel better.
Adam Thorne
It was like just rubbing it in. All the other girls faces that were binging through the holidays.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
And they're just like, hey, I feel guilty about this already.
Theo Vaughn
Like, not only am I hungover, having chop, you know, like I'm, you know, chasing a toddler around, it's the holidays. There's all these snacks and sweets around, and I am hungry. Okay. Like, I'm having cravings. I want to eat, I want to drink, I want to do all the stuff. And then it's just like constant, like, well, I just don't eat that much. I'm just full. And I'm like, okay, love you. Stop that. Shut your mouth.
Adam Thorne
Yeah, the irony is, give you six months, you're gonna get a prescription to this and be saying the same damn thing. I bet it just happens.
Theo Vaughn
We just have ads for Ozembic. It's just every other ad.
Adam Thorne
Oh, for the podcast. That would be hilarious. No, I refuse to have any pharmaceutical ads on this.
Theo Vaughn
That's a good stance.
Adam Thorne
Since COVID I won't. Oh, though saying that I did have vape advertises on once, and I'm like, oh, God, did I do that really?
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, yeah, you're going to hell for that one. Well, but, you know, back to Alex Jones, you know, they, the. The government was pretty hard on him, and so maybe plenty of people would.
Adam Thorne
Say for good reason too.
Theo Vaughn
I think. I think just like a lot of celebrities, when they know they're going to be in the public eye, when they know there maybe is criticism about him, another way they try to find a way to, like, either have better publicity or, you know, just like, have more people supporting them.
Adam Thorne
And honestly, I think he just wants to be healthy. He's not doing this for any level of fame. He probably just felt awful and was feeling the effects of being overweight and not in shape and just said, hey, you know, parts of my life have kind of gone off the rails. Let's at least get some control over that. And fair play to him. He looks like a completely different person, just like Theo was saying. And, yeah, of course, the. The conspiracy theories will come, but Joe assures us it's still Alex. Yeah, don't worry. Yeah, it does make me think, is he coming on the pod anytime soon? Well, Alex Jones or Episodes have always been the biggest or up there. Yeah, they're definitely in the top 10 of all time. However, people and, you know, some would say understandably, have got mad and probably put pressure on Rogan about him coming on, giving him a platform X, Y and Z. Then, of course, he had the big lawsuit thing, but, you know, that's settling down now. Yeah, he's paying his way that, I guess, selling off Infowars. I don't know the entire story there. There's some. Some shenanigans going on with that. And, you know, he's getting in shape, and it's. As of today, Trump's American now, so maybe we'll see him back on soon. And I'm curious to see what he's thinking about and what he's up to and what other stories he's gonna break.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I mean, get healthy, live longer, expose more, you know, things that are going on that we're not aware of. I'm all about it. I'm excited to hopefully get to, you know, see what he's up to and see what else he can bring to light. I'm. Yeah, it'll be interesting.
Adam Thorne
Mm.
Theo Vaughn
Call. Calling. Calling on you, Joe. Have him on.
Adam Thorne
That's it. Well, the. Theo is a huge UFC fan now. He's been going to the UFC for a while. Is some great footage of him. I think it was the. Not the last ufc, but maybe the one before that. Supposedly, he was there for, like, all the prelims, like, early, early SA watching him for hours. Of course Joe needs to be there. He's commentating, but a lot of people don't show up till later because it is. It's like, I don't know, six, eight hours of being there. That's a long time for an event. Yeah, supposedly Theo was there the whole time. He's very good friends with Poitier. He's getting to know other fighters and, you know, having kind of more insight, more opinions in the scene, which I think is really cool. They talk about Pal Harris in this podcast and just explaining about his submissions, how there was some problems, how he often would hold heel hooks way too long, which are just for those out there that don't know. The ones that blow your knees up and rip your ankles apart. I mean, they're horrific. When you get those on people, you've got to be very careful when you're training with people and you're practicing those moves, you got to go real gentle because you can go from no submission to a broken knee faster than anything else.
Theo Vaughn
It's.
Adam Thorne
It's so quick. And if people are holding that too long and the referees are trying to get you off half a second too long, and it's. You're causing major, possibly lifelong injuries for these poor fighters. So eventually, he got kicked out of the ufc, and they were talking about it, which is. That's kind of unusual. You know, it wasn't like he was just losing all the time, but it just was too dangerous.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. I don't have a lot of reference for combat sports. Never been involved. But I know when you're watching them and just. You can see when they do submit, like, the pain that they're feeling is, like. You can almost feel it with them.
Adam Thorne
Oh, yeah.
Theo Vaughn
It's like their face and, you know, it's the only thing I can think of. I mean, maybe I can think of a couple other scenarios in which you can sort of relate to, like, this half a second in the real damages it can cause. But. So, you know, like, when you meet someone for the first time and they hug you, and they hug you for just, like, a little bit too long, and you're like, okay, okay, let me go. All right, thanks. And, yeah. It's just, like, awkward and uncomfortable. Multiply that, like, discomfort by, like, 6 million, and that's what you have here. Right. Like, that was, like, the worst.
Adam Thorne
Yeah. I don't know. I don't know if you could give.
Theo Vaughn
I'm just saying, like, the. You know, it's like, half a second, maybe. I'm thinking, like, the contrast of. It's like, half a second can be, like, uncomfortable, and it can be, like, you know, whatever. But have.
Adam Thorne
I guess. I guess where it lines up is there's an etiquette to a handshake.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
There's an etiquette to a hug, especially with someone you don't know all that well, but you're kind of on hugging terms.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
If it turns into a cuddle, big trouble. Somebody's. Somebody's broken some rules in the Same thing in mixed martial arts. There's an etiquette, obviously, when they tap, you've got, like. You want to make sure the referee sees it, but the refs these days are good. They're on top of it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
And it's not uncommon that you'll see in a UFC fight. The tap comes, and then the pressure is released before the referee even gets there. Then it's kind of unwritten that, you know, the person that tapped knows that they gave up and the other person was giving them some grace. Holding those things for too long is just far too dangerous. Well, you got these fighters.
Theo Vaughn
You would think, again, being someone that has no experience in combat sports, but like, that, when you're in a submission hold, if you're. You're the person that's put someone in a hold, like, you're anticipating the submission, like, you're waiting for it. It's not like, oh, maybe it's going to happen. And so there's absolutely no way it's an accident. Like, he's. It's like. It's this, like, show of strength and control and power and, like, a bit of, like. Like, sociopathic, probably mindset that he has that he's like, oh, this is the right way to go about this, because I've won, and I'm in this, like, you know, more powerful position, and I'm just gonna, like, just a half a second longer just to be like. Like, stick it to him. But in reality, it's like, I mean, one, it's illegal in the sport, and two, it's. It's horrible. And it ultimately led to him being kicked out.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. I'm glad that that happened. I'm glad that they don't allow people to, like, push the boundaries in something like that. It has to be a hard sport to manage and to, like, ref.
Adam Thorne
Yeah. Dana's not looking for fighters that are gonna basically injure half of his roster. I mean, that would be a disaster for the sport.
Theo Vaughn
Right.
Adam Thorne
And, you know, on top of that, I. I hope that Theo, you know, possibly gets into training and starts doing some jiu jitsu and. Or does some more of it. I think he's done some in the past, but it would be really cool for him to start doing some MMA on top of everything else. It probably help out his stress. He does. He does tend to get pretty stressed, and whatever you can do to relieve that is solid. Talking about things that are stressing people out. They talked about crackdowns in England on free speech. Now we're in England Currently, the crackdowns aren't that too hard because we're saying whatever we want on this podcast and nobody's. Nobody's arrested us yet. But maybe they can't hear it. Yeah, you know, there are controversial social media posts that have been shown online and the police are showing up to people's houses. They're filming it and they're arresting these people.

You know, talking to some of my family members when I've questioned these things, they downplay it like it's nothing. And it's hard to know, right? Where is this happening? Who is it happening to? What have they all done? But we're definitely seeing a lot of that in America. And you know, there's even a new bill I think that's getting passed or whatever they call the laws, how they do the laws here in the uk, but it's about they're basically stamping out types of speech even done at the pub, which is really like the, you know, a place of freedom for the working man to go have a drink and talk to their friends and say what they want. It's like, obviously you can't be drumming up violence, you know, but if you're just having opinions and they're seen as controversial. And again, who decides what's controversial? You know, that's the scary part of this.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, I think being, being removed from, you know, a lot of the politics of the uk, having, you know, connections and family here, but also living in America and having our own tornadoes of things happening constantly over there. Like, you don't really, you know, I don't understand all of the, like, all of the things that are going on. But what I do know about the English and about British people is that they tend to be. Or what I've observed, I won't say no. What I've observed is that they tend to be more like, submissive isn't the right word. Like, they just kind of go with the flow. They don't question the status quo. They, you know, like, for example, we like to queue. Yeah. Like, it's like, oh, there's like, you don't need like, barriers to create a, like, you know, like the ropes to make a line. In the uk, when there's a lot of people, it's like, just get in line.
Adam Thorne
We get in line. We know how lines work.
Theo Vaughn
The, the recycling here is a bit extensive and you got to separate your food and you got to organic in one, you got to do raw in the other and cooked in one and you got to have trash and you got to separate your recycling. Everything gets washed and recycled and. And in America, I know that it is a thing, but it's not required. But here it's like almost expected and it's like looked down.
Adam Thorne
No, it is. You get, you get fine if you don't separate the trash.
Theo Vaughn
And so like, fines here are like, for things like that where it's like in America we're just like, just throw it away. Like, you have to pay to recycle in America. Right? Like, you have to pay to be like eco conscious. Right. And here it's like you'll. You pay if you aren't. And so that's sort of a totally other topic. But I'm just saying that the mindset of British people tends to be more like, oh, it's just how the rules are. We just go with it. I would say what I would expect in Recent years that some of that in the political circle, like, in political climates, like, people are getting louder, people are getting upset, like Brexit. A lot of people are really upset about Brexit and what has resulted as, you know, since then, costs of things have gone up and whatever. So I imagine people are starting to get a bit angrier and have a lot more to say. And, yeah, it's a bit like dystopian to think about, like, going to the pub or posting something on it online and then, you know, someone showing up at your door and arresting you. Like, it's kind of hard to comprehend. But, I mean, they. What they're trying to avoid is, like, people inciting a riot ultimately. And.
Adam Thorne
Yeah, I mean, I guess that's how they. They kind of pose it, but it's.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
You know, that's. Anytime you erode free speech, you can put any labels on it for why safety and concerns and just for the greater good. And, you know, really all you're doing is just always taking a right away from an individual right, and that's it. And then where do those rights go? Eventually, they all go to the state. And we've seen what happens when the state's fully in charge of all the rights. It's ugly. It's not good. People die. People get incarcerated. It's not a way to live. You know, obviously, there's a range. You know, it doesn't mean just because this law came in, the whole country goes that way, but it's something to keep an eye on. I don't like the sound of it. It's. It's a big part of the reason why I love America as much as I do and I live there. Because I think that the laws align far better with what I believe.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Than otherwise.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
I mean, pretty much all Theo had to say about it was, that's wild. Yeah, that's wild. But, you know, it truly is. It's. It's. It's scary to think about. And, you know, I mean, it's a bit like, you know, you imagine how life is in places like North Korea. You know, you can't say anything, you can't think anything, can't act in a certain way.
Adam Thorne
No.
Theo Vaughn
You know, even places like. I think it's Japan, you have, like, a. Like a social credit score, basically. Like.
Adam Thorne
No, it's China.
Theo Vaughn
China, where you, like, get rated. If you, like, do something like, the people don't, like. You know, I don't know. I. I don't know how I feel about it. Ultimately, I mean, obviously, like, I don't believe in limiting free speech, but there are some things that I wish people would say less. There's some things I wish people would shut up about. There's some things that I'm like, can you be done talking about that? Maybe you can only talk about it for a short amount of time, you know, like.
Adam Thorne
But there doesn't be laws about it. It's just like, just don't talk to them.
Theo Vaughn
It should be an etiquette. Right?
Adam Thorne
Don't watch that channel. Yeah, don't listen to that thing. Didn't Theo bring up weighted blankets? What was the weighted blanket?
Theo Vaughn
They were screwing out some random stuff at the beginning. Weighted blankets. And it sort of like rolled into, like.
Adam Thorne
They are good, you know.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, you used one before.
Adam Thorne
I approve.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, they're great. I don't know. He was talking about some. Some, you know, the way some weak kid that got trapped under one. And then I think he started, you know, basically talking about how heavy was that blanket? You can get them really heavy. I mean, they're, they're. They can be considered like a medical device or for people with, like, sensory issues. So just ties you down. Yeah, I don't know. I. I never looked. I didn't look up exactly the context he was talking about. The story he said was like, was like a malnourished child under like an 80 pound blanket or something. I'm like, okay, that feels weird. But, you know, they also talked a bit about, um, like autism, which I think, you know, that's what these blankets typically are designed for is like children with autism.
Adam Thorne
Or maybe that's why I like it.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, you're definitely on the spectrum. But, you know, and then he made a joke like that autistic people are like the bridge between, like, humans and machines. Like, Elon Musk is like the definition of like, high functioning autism, right? Yeah.
Adam Thorne
And that's definitely the autism that I.
Theo Vaughn
Would choose to have you identify as Elon Musk type.
Adam Thorne
No, no, I would just like to.
Theo Vaughn
Okay. Yeah. Yeah, me too.
Adam Thorne
I would like to have the type of autism that makes me a rocket scientist and the richest man in the world.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. And, you know, and it's. And it was funny, their conversation sort of bounced around between, like, what's causing autism and like, you know, obviously the, like, they brought up environmental factors, you know, technology or addicted to technology. We're addicted to plastic. We have hormones in our food. Is it messing up our genetics? And ultimately, is that why we're seeing higher case, higher numbers of Autism, Higher rates of autism.
Adam Thorne
They did say they liked onions. Yeah, onions came up.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah, that was random. But yeah, onions are amazing.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
I was like, tuned in instantly. I was like, this is gonna be a great podcast talking about onions. What else do they have to say? And then we kind of died out. But they, it's like they did a quick search of like, what's the nutritional aspect of onions?
Adam Thorne
People don't know. I didn't know.
Theo Vaughn
There really isn't much. There's a lot of vitamin C. They.
Adam Thorne
Like to use the word phytonutrients with onions.
Theo Vaughn
Okay.
Adam Thorne
Now there's a thing, you know, I do anytime I'm sick.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah.
Adam Thorne
I like to mix, chop some onions up and put them in a thing of honey, like a jar, and you leave them overnight. And then the honey gets very watery. Take the onions out and then it's like this watery little soup and you just have a couple of spoonfuls each day or whatever you want when you feel sick and it makes you feel better.
Theo Vaughn
Yeah. It has like some antibacterial, antimicrobial properties or something like that.
Adam Thorne
Some healthy stuff in there.
Theo Vaughn
Some healthy stuff. And they're fat and delicious.
Adam Thorne
Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
French onion soup. I mean, incredible.
Adam Thorne
Yeah, I agree with them.
Theo Vaughn
I want onions and everything.
Adam Thorne
Let's go. Yeah, let's go. All right, let's. Let's finish up with a little bit of the Mexicans verse Puerto Rico feud that they discussed. Yeah.
Theo Vaughn
What came up? Because they were talking about like, who's the hardest worker.
Adam Thorne
Right.
Theo Vaughn
Well, yeah, it was like, I don't understand the stereotype that like Mexicans are lazy. And I actually never.
Adam Thorne
I don't know, I've never heard that.
Theo Vaughn
I've heard it for another ethnic group. I'm not going to say it because I don't. I'm not racist. But we're in the uk.
Adam Thorne
We can't afford to get canceled right now.
Theo Vaughn
But there was like, well, one group thinks the other one is. And. But then this is like, you know, the reality of it. And. And then, you know, it circled back to like the feud that existed from boxing and stuff like that. More so like in Reese, you know, past history, it had to do more.
Adam Thorne
With like Mexicans and Puerto Ricans are good boxes. Yeah, for sure.
Theo Vaughn
And that, that's where like this like, cultural, like, riff started. And then.
Adam Thorne
That's hilarious.
Theo Vaughn
It rolled into like modern day times of like, oh, who works harder? And you know, whatever.
Adam Thorne
Right.
Theo Vaughn
It was a bit like better cocaine. I don't know.
Adam Thorne
Well, the Colombians.
Theo Vaughn
Oh, yeah, everyone knows that.
Adam Thorne
But yeah, it was light hearted. It was a fun, silly ending. And yeah, just to finish up, it is January 20th. Rogan was at the inauguration. Theo went as well. Yeah, pretty interesting. Theo was on a bus with Jake, Paul, Logan, Paul and Conor McGregor. Yeah, all chatting with each other. And that's interesting. I've never, you know, Theo getting a chance to talk to Connor. Pretty cool. Conor seemed more interested in what Logan and Jake were up to.
Theo Vaughn
But yeah, I haven't caught up with all the.
Adam Thorne
He was just probably messing with them. But yeah, big changes in the US Today. A lot was said by Trump and he's basically, as we speak, writing a bunch of laws into place to minimize what just happened with all the Biden stuff. So we're gonna see, we'll see what happens.
Theo Vaughn
More on that to come, but.
Adam Thorne
More on that to come. But anyway, thanks so much for listening as always. Check out the Patreon and we will talk to you all soon.
Theo Vaughn
Cheers, y'all.

Joe Rogan Experience Review Podcast – Episode 426: Review of Theo Von
Release Date: February 15, 2025
Hosts: Adam Thorne and Theo Vaughn
Duration: Approximately 46 minutes
The Joe Rogan Experience Review Podcast delves deep into Joe Rogan’s episode featuring comedian and podcaster Theo Von. Hosted by Adam Thorne and his good friend Theo Vaughn, Episode 426 offers listeners an insightful breakdown of the conversations, themes, and nuances presented in Rogan's dialogue with Von. This summary captures the essence of their analysis, highlighting key discussions, notable quotes, and the hosts' perspectives.
The podcast opens with the hosts discussing Theo Von’s notable physical transformation compared to his previous appearances. Adam Thorne remarks on Theo’s improved health and demeanor, contrasting it with his past appearances where he seemed "off" and anxious.
Adam Thorne [03:05]: "Theo seemed sharper this time. Yeah, he was a little off last time. He kept asking Joe, like, is that making sense? Am I doing okay?"
A significant portion of the discussion revolves around Alex Jones, a recurrent figure in conspiracy theories. The hosts explore the idea that Jones might have been replaced by a look-alike due to his controversial persona and health changes.
Adam Thorne [21:13]: "Could be a robot Alex Jones."
They analyze the implications of such theories, reflecting on how public figures undergo transformations and the skepticism surrounding their authenticity.
Adam and Theo commend Joe Rogan’s ability to maintain composure and steer conversations effectively, especially with high-profile and potentially volatile guests like Theo Von and Donald Trump.
Theo Vaughn [07:26]: "But Rogan was just Rogan. With Trump, it's kind of one of his superpowers, is that he can always just be normal."
The hosts delve into the recent U.S. ban on TikTok, analyzing its swift implementation and the underlying national security reasons. They discuss the economic impact on content creators and the broader implications for free speech and digital privacy.
Adam Thorne [08:48]: "I think it was just seen as a real national security threat potentially. It's just giving China so much access to the user's data."
A substantial segment addresses the differences in free speech regulations between the UK and the USA. Theo Von shares observations on the UK's strict policies against controversial speech, contrasting them with the American emphasis on individual rights.
Theo Vaughn [35:43]: "It's kind of hard to comprehend. But, I mean, they. What they're trying to avoid is, like, people inciting a riot ultimately."
The conversation shifts to mixed martial arts, focusing on the ethical considerations of submission holds. Adam criticizes fighters who intentionally prolong holds, leading to injuries, and praises the role of referees in maintaining safety within the sport.
Adam Thorne [30:03]: "Holding those things for too long is just far too dangerous."
The hosts touch upon stereotypes between Mexicans and Puerto Ricans regarding work ethic, debunking misconceptions and highlighting the cultural roots of such debates.
Adam Thorne [44:21]: "I don't understand the stereotype that like Mexicans are lazy."
Throughout the episode, Adam and Theo engage in lighter discussions about everyday topics such as the nutritional benefits of onions, the questionable quality of gas station food, and the peculiarities of road trip snacks. These segments add a humorous and relatable layer to the podcast review.
Theo Vaughn [43:22]: "They're fat and delicious. French onion soup. I mean, incredible."
In their concluding remarks, Adam and Theo reflect on the evolving landscape of podcasts, Theo Von’s growing influence, and the potential for more in-depth conversations in future episodes. They express enthusiasm about the dynamic changes in the U.S. political and social arenas, hinting at continued analyses in subsequent reviews.
Adam Thorne [46:23]: "Big changes in the US Today. A lot was said by Trump and he's basically, as we speak, writing a bunch of laws into place to minimize what just happened with all the Biden stuff. So we're gonna see, we'll see what happens."
