You're listening to the Joe Rogan Experience Review. What a bizarre thing we've created now with your host, Adam Thorne. This might either be the worst podcast or the best one.
B
One. Go. Enjoy the show.
A
Hey, guys. And welcome to another episode of the JRE Review. I'm Adam, joined as always by Brandon. Thank you for being here, buddy.
B
Great to be here on the day of the rapture.
A
Yeah.
B
You know.
A
Is it today?
B
It's today, yeah.
A
Oh, I was not aware it wasn't on my calendar.
B
Yeah. I'm afraid that we're gonna lose Rogan because he's been going to church. We might have to turn this into, like, that Theo Vaughn podcast review or something.
A
Oh, yeah, yeah. Theo's gonna hang out with us, us heathens for a while.
B
Or we're doing the Church of what's happening now review. Because that's not.
A
Joey's not allowed to go to heaven. He just has to float around in between no man's land. This week we are reviewing good old Carrot Top, also known as Scott Thompson. Scott Thompson. I see why he's changed his name to Carrot Top. That's not a very exciting celebrity name, but veteran propcom comedian. He's like the prop comedian, right? I mean, there's no others, unless you count the puppet people.
B
Yeah, he is like the guy there. I don't think there's. I really can't even think of another prop comic.
A
But. But they used to be tons. Like, in the 80s, there were tons of prop comics. And, you know, he's been a Las Vegas headliner for 16 years. Resident performer at the Luxor Hotel and Casino. He's like a high energy, roided up looking, jacked redhead. And honestly, he's underrated. Like, he's been made fun of in the comedy world for a long time. He's funny, dude. Give him a chance. I mean, the people that I know that have gone to his shows really enjoyed it. He seems like a nice guy. Second time he's been on Rogan. And I'm a fan of, like, his energy. He was funny on Kill. Tony too. Did you see that?
B
I did, yeah. And it worked really well with the props and just him talking. And I know on Rogan he was talking about. I don't know. I don't want to bring the props up here, but Tony's like, you have to. And I'm glad he did.
A
They're good. Yeah, they're good, man.
B
Really?
A
Yeah. Anyway, he's excellent.
B
Yeah.
A
Let's talk about Patreon, right? And what. What we got going on over there. So.
B
So, yeah, we've been adding a lot on Patreon, so if you don't know what our Patreon looks like, what we do is we record these podcast episodes on Zoom, which is what we're doing right now. So if you want to see the video form of this podcast, you can go on Patreon, you can get these episodes and you can watch them. There's no ads. You get them the second we're done recording, too, so early access. It really helps support the podcast. We're also going to plan to do a lot more. A lot of exclusive content. We talked about some Q and A's potentially before we started recording this. We have a lot planned, so go and check it out right now. You can become a free member and we have tiers you can check out as well. But we'd appreciate it. And in general, thank you so much for listening to the podcast, wherever you're at, listening, because it does mean a lot.
A
Yeah. And who's. Who's that guy? Elephant. What? Elephant.
B
Elephant graveyard. Yeah. Who did it? Yeah. Legend dude who did a critic on the Rogan sphere. And we've talked about maybe doing a review on that video, so that's something.
A
Yeah. I mean, listen, I'm sure Rogan has some level of beef with him because he also gave quite a scathing review of Rogan's last comedy special. However, I believe that Rogan has a good sense of humor and he's also humble enough to see a solid, you know, even harsh critique and learn from it. And, you know, elephant just. I don't know where he gets his dialogue, how he narrates that whole thing with such kind of. There's like this poetic beauty to it, but I would love to go through it and. And, yeah, cover someone. What's going on. I mean, there's. There's some real Rogan sphere frustration and hate right now. And, you know, it needs to be addressed. And we're going to do some videos on that for sure.
B
Yeah. And it's not even in the YouTube commentary community. It's like there's people, indie, like New York comedy scene right now who are being vocal about it. People in la. So it's something definitely worth looking at. And even Rogan kind of addressed the elephant graveyard video in the episode he did with Jordan. Like, he kind of did. He kind of didn't. He did reference. He did see a video critiquing the Rogan sphere. So hopefully we get some more reactionary commentary from his Point of view. Because I would love. I would love to hear what he thinks about it, because I know Duncan Trussell right now is getting a ton of hate from it.
A
Unreal.
B
And Duncan, Elephant. Yeah, elephant graveyard. Put out a statement saying, hey, please don't send this guy death threats, because that's what he's getting right now because of the whole Peter Thiel thing. And it's. It is crazy, man. Like, a lot of the drama right now in the Rogan sphere is just insane. So there's a lot to talk about.
A
Yeah. Yeah, it is wild. And, you know, it's just the reality of it. I mean, what are we here to do other than review what's going on on the show? And in his world, you know, it's just. We got to cover some things, but there's a lot. Anyway, let's jump into. Let's jump into Carrots up. Do you know that his net worth is calculated to be around 70 million?
B
That's insane, man. I. I can see.
A
No wonder people are hating on him, dude. No wonder people hate on it. If I found out that I was, I don't know, Anthony Jezel Neck, or, you know, one of these guys, and you just, like, you're a crisp, clean, excellent joke writer, and, you know, you just crush.
B
Always.
A
You're well regarded by other comedians. And then you find out the guy that just pulls out freaking dildos from his box and makes jokes about it is worth 70 million. Yeah.
B
I mean, yeah, that guy that measures dicks, you know, a dumb amount of money. It's crazy. And that's why a lot of people hate him. You know, I, like, honestly, it's really nice to see his redemption arc, to see him actually, like, get to the point where he's like, yeah, it's just nice that people don't hate me and that, like, I'm actually being accepted by comics.
A
Yeah.
B
Oh, my.
A
And I think a lot of people, you know, at least Rogan fans in the Rogan sphere have been going to his shows. You know, that's like a destination now when you get to Vegas. I would. I would go watch him for sure. I would love to.
B
And Same.
A
Yeah, good for him. But however, even with all the hate that he had been getting, he still had that residency. He still was making this money, you know, it was like he was. Even during the bad times, was surviving in a. An interesting way and getting jacked, guys. Huge.
B
Yeah. And he didn't even mean to. He just had so much time off. He. So he just started working out and then, oh, I'm a bodybuilder. Whoops.
A
I didn't. I didn't mean to take these steroids.
B
But I don't blame. Like, it makes sense because, listen, if I'm like, shitface in Vegas, you know, I just got blown by a prostitute. I'm having the best time of my life. I sit down, I'm hammered. Some wacky guy goes on stage, he's bringing out all these pop, like these props and crazy things. I'm gonna have the best time of my life, you know?
A
So why not? Yeah, why not? It's like the perfect thing to go see when you've taken too much cocaine, I would imagine. Yeah.
B
Proper or the perfect thing. Yeah. To take cocaine too.
A
Yeah.
B
Watch Carrot Top just, like, rail some lines.
A
Well, didn't he say that he was on, like, when they had him in the Hangover movie? They. They were just all hanging out and he was like, this seems boring. We should be doing drugs. Which is ironic because he doesn't, which really is what made that scene so fun, because I knew he was, like, sober. So it's like, fun when a celebrity can make fun of themselves. Like the same as Tyson did in that movie. Right. They made him out to seem like an absolute lunatic. And maybe he is, but he isn't the guy in that movie. And that's kind of. That's fun that they did that for sure.
B
Carrot Top does look like someone who would, like, do so much coke, so. I didn't even know he was sober, so, like, I looked at him like, oh, he must have tried everything, but.
A
No, I think he. I think he had tried everything, but he. I think he slowed down.
B
Yeah, he got his fill, you know? DraftKings Casino has your playbook for gaming action. All season long, Play thousands of popular slots for a shot at jackpots. A
Yeah. Yeah, it's. It is interesting though. Like, when you think of what it takes to get like a residency in Vegas, they have a particular style, right. It's like cabaret stuff. It's got to be very flamboyant or performative. It's got to be a huge dance. Even, Even the singers that have been there, you know, think Elvis. Think. It's like he was. He was more than just his songs. Right. He was a show he'd wear like. I. I don't know. What do you even call the suits he would wear? It's like astronaut.
B
Yeah. Just not legend suits.
A
Like. Yes. Futuristic space suit.
B
I've always thought that, like, the best Vegas acts are the ones that like, make the judges on America's Got Talent like come their pants. Because that's all that show pretty much is like recruiting for Vegas.
A
Yeah.
B
And that's. And you know, America's Got Talent, it's like all those crazy acts. You get like, like, you know, maybe not props, but like a lot of, like, magic, a lot of dancing, a lot of stuff that you would typically see in Vegas. If Carrot Top, you know, like what got on America's Got Talent and no one knew who he was, he would destroy, you know.
A
Oh, yeah.
B
Because he's made for. For a crowd like that, you know, like. Oh yeah, like the most general audience kind of show you can imagine. But it's cool that he has also kind of a darker side and he's. He's willing to explore that. The Dick Cheney story he was telling on the podcast shows that. And I honestly, I think I prefer like dark Carrot Top more than like his, his more family friendly side.
A
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know. Well, I mean, look, swear.
B
But, but.
A
Well, he did say he swear. Swore. That's why Prince couldn't go to his show.
B
Oh, yeah. Wasn't that. Yeah, you're right. You're right. But he doesn't typically, like, swear all the time. Right.
A
Yeah, I think he just wasn't. He wasn't willing to like, change his act too much. I think there's like some X rated ish stuff, you know, that is. He's making some jokes that are a bit, you know, risque.
B
It's. Yeah. I guess in the, you know, when you put everything in retrospective. Because compared to like, you know, when you. When we're talking about the Rogan sphere, like Carrot Tops. A like G rated act compared to everyone else we're talking about. But yeah, like, you know, I guess you're right. There is swearing and like there is the whole dick measuring purse he has like there, there are some like dirty props, but they're, but they're not like too on the nose. It's not like there's like crazy ass. Really, really edgy props. Like, it's a, It's a fine line.
A
Yeah, yeah, he. He knows what he's doing. I mean, he's. He. He's done the same act or close to it for a long time. Like, it's crisp, it's clean. He knows what he's doing. And I'm sure those guys out there in Vegas, they. They have you perform a lot of. I don't know what those contracts entail, but it's. It's got to be five days a week type of thing. I mean, he's hammering it hours at a time for.
B
For the money though, you know, Sign me up. I do not care.
A
I mean, listen, dude, as a stand up. This is why when people are like. Stavros recently was getting mad at all the comedians for going to Lake Saudi and doing stand up and being like, you're all sellouts and they're all getting paid like 300, 400 grand each.
B
Yeah.
A
And it's like, relax, dude. It's a hard job to make money in stand up. It's like, yeah, maybe if you went to North Korea and you were doing stand up in front of like some of their concentration camps, that would be pretty ugly. But like, Saudi buys a lot of oil from the United States. They're not. People aren't mad at that. They're not like, oh, America sucks. It's like, yeah, we need oil. They got stuff.
B
It is really crazy though, that Bill Burr is doing it. Of all people who's like, definitely the most, like, liberal out of all of them and would be the one.
A
They're probably paying him a million dollars for an hour's worth.
B
It must be insane, dude.
A
It's so much that he's like, whatever. And you know what? Yeah. But also, who knows, dude? Knowing Bill, he probably goes over there and just roast them. Yeah, he just roast them the whole time. That would.
B
That's if he wants to one up the Philly rant. That's what he has to do. That would be one of the most legendary things. He would get beheaded soon after or thrown off, dude.
A
I wouldn't put it past him. I mean, Tim Dillon's going Over that. And they. For him to gay people to death.
B
Dude, he just got dropped, like, yesterday.
A
Oh, he did?
B
Why? Fired? Yeah, because he said something on his podcast. He was, like, critiquing them. He's. He was like. He said something like. He's like, they have the best slaves over there. You know, if you do have slaves, they have the best ones. He said something like that. And his. And his manager, like, called him panicking. He's like, dude, you can't say that. I think they're gonna drop us. And he got dropped.
A
No.
B
Yeah, no more.
A
Yeah.
B
Tim Dillon. You know.
A
Well, I mean, it is interesting. I mean, a few. A few Jewish comedians are going over there, which is intro. I mean, I don't know what to think about that. It's like, all right, I guess, you.
B
Know who's going over there? Pete Davidson.
A
Is he really? That's interesting.
B
His dad died on 9 11. You think out of everybody.
A
Well, the Saudis only allegedly did it.
B
Yeah. And. And if. You know it only allegedly. If. If you get paid a good amount of money. Oh, no way.
A
They did.
B
It was Israel again. Israel.
A
Should we actually put that in our intro music? Just start with the word. All of this is allegedly. Just so we get out of all trouble of anything that we say during the podcast, because we can just point back to that and be like, well, we said allegedly.
B
I think that would be a great thing. Then we can say whatever we want.
A
You know, it's like, yeah, imagine if it was that easy.
B
I know, right? Even Rogan's like, I'm a comic. My. My things on here shouldn't even, you know, be taken into fact, where it's.
A
Like, oh, they use that against them.
B
Yeah. And we should get the. The like, you know that. But times two.
A
Yeah. Because we're way less important.
B
Yeah.
A
And we're even stupider than he is. So we're doing our best. Just.
B
Yeah, we're just like two apes get stoned talking about Rogan.
A
So just. But that's wondering what's going on in the world. Yeah, yeah, it is. It is. And also, it's like, you know what? Maybe it's their effort to, like, kind of join a bit of the, like, western world. It's like, get some comedians out there. I know the king or prince or one of the guys is, like, started to have raves out there and big concerts and things. They never used to do that. You know, it's like, hey, come back and join that. You know, don't worry about all these strict rules. Like, come back and start having some fun. You got loads of money. Like, why not just start having a blast and then we can all just chill out a little bit. It just seems, like, interesting time to.
B
Do that, you know? Like, I think maybe we should go out there and, like, do some open mics or something. We can bark for the festival.
A
Yeah, good luck, mate.
B
Get a guess.
A
You can do it. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not. I'm not even gonna try.
B
So I just want to say this, you know, to bring this back to Carrot Top. He's a great hang. He's someone I would totally, totally, like, love to hang out with. He just seems so real. Just such a cool dude, you know?
A
Like, he seems very humble, doesn't he?
B
Yeah, he does, you know?
A
Yeah. He doesn't seem to take himself too seriously.
B
Maybe share a beer with him, you know, like, the perfect drinking guy. I know. I, I, I. I can fantasize, you know, it'd just be me and you.
A
Getting drunk, and he can sit there sober, showing us his props. But, yeah, he just. He doesn't seem like an. He definitely doesn't seem, like, overly bitter about the hate that he's got. Obviously, he's done very well for himself, and I think he really appreciates, you know, just Joe wanting to hang with him. He was, like, super thankful that he's back on the podcast. And those things are great, man. It's like, it's solid stuff.
B
Yeah, it was. It was cool hearing him just, like, talk about his dad who, like, oh, working for NASA. Yeah, like, that was really cool.
A
Yep. Well, he. One of the best lines was, if my dad was still alive, he'd punch you when talking to Rogan about not get into space. And I love how Rogan, even though that was a hypothetical and Carrot Top dad was dead, Rogan still had to defend it with, like, oh, I'd move. I. I dodge it. It's like, okay.
B
It's like, all right. You know, I. Maybe.
A
Maybe we gotcha.
B
Maybe Carrot Top's dad, like, studied martial arts on the side. Like, you don't know Joe well, I.
A
Would say zero chance if I had to, without even knowing anything about Carrot Top's dad. I mean, one, you work in NASA. You're a nerd. Two, good luck being broken up. Like, no. Just no.
B
Dude, he is, like, he studied so many. Jiu jitsu, mma. Yeah.
A
Kickboxing.
B
It keeps going. There's. There's no way. You'll have to call in Rambo or something.
A
Yeah, Yeah. I mean, People on Reddit were calling it jealousy. Like from Rogan almost like he's jealous that that guy worked for NASA and believes in the whole thing. It's like. But you know what Reddit's like, dude.
B
It just, it's just a.
A
It is, it's a cesspool. But I'm glad it exists because it's so fun.
B
It is fun. The Kill Tony Reddit is the best. Like that is just a pure bloodbath. But Rogan, you.
A
Is it really?
B
Oh my God. Dude, if you want to just see the most critical, angry, miserable people, they just hate.
A
Kill Tony or what?
B
Yeah, they hate it. They're like the show fell off five years ago. I watch every week. All the regulars suck. Like, it's so funny because it's like these people who hate the show so much that they just watch it all the time and they have so much to say. It's like, do you really hate the show at that?
A
Right? Well, I mean it was like the, like the Fighter and the kid stuff, what they call them the Angry cats. I mean they just got to a point with, with Brendan and it was just brutal, dude. You know, I mean, honestly, just like elephant graveyard. We should do, we should do a few videos on Patreon about like the, the Brandon hate online. Like Brandon Schaub is do. People are so mad at him.
B
We're. If we do that.
A
So mad, dude, we're going to have.
B
To make like an eight hour documentary. Like that's, that's an insane feat. The amount of hate. I don't think there's a single comedian. He is the modern day Carrot Top. There is not a.
A
Well, Rogan brought it up. Dude, when I can't remember who was on. Who was. Who was that female comedian? God, I should remember this. Was it Jordan Whitney?
B
Whitney was on Cummings.
A
Yeah. And. And she was trying to say something about. Have you seen this guy? Who's the most hated guy on the Internet right now? I don't know who she was talking about. Like maybe Andrew Tate or someone. And then he goes, he goes who? He goes. She said the name. And then Rogan was like, oh, Brendan sh. Just went. And then they just crack up laughing and I mean just the fact. And they both laugh so hard. So everyone's aware of it. But the fact that Rogan's even willing to kind of bring that up is like he's keeping some sense of humor. I mean, look, he's still protecting his friend, but I just don't understand the energy behind it. Like the Energy is so hard behind Brendan Sharp. Hate that the videos that they make about him get 10 times as many views as anything he himself puts out. And they still can't stop. Yeah, they still can't stop crushing him.
B
Dude, it's. It's so funny. It's almost comical the amount of just like blind hate he gets. And it's the same points that are just like driven. Like, it's not like every video is like, I. I feel like this hasn't been brought up, so I'm going to talk about this. It is the same points of, this guy's a hack. He sucks. His. His material is terrible. Like, it's all the same stuff. It's really like, just funny because it's just. It's so. Just insane.
A
It goes with it. Dude, he made millions of dollars off social media. Millions. Still does because his Instagram's big. Even though nobody watches his podcast. It's. It's like just like carrots top faced. He's made a lot of money too. But you put yourself out there, you get big enough, and then you do some things that people don't care for. You're gonna take some for it. It's part of the show. And you gotta take the ups with the downs. I mean, it's all about the type of exposure you want to give yourself. Me, personally, I'm not willing to do it. I'm not gonna get close. I mean, I will never be as popular as them though, to be fair, our podcast was bigger than Fighter and the Kid for a long time. I just could never do the video in that way. And yeah, for good reason. Dude, I don't want to Reddit thread. You know what I mean? It's like. No, I don't. Even if I don't look at it, it still exists in the universe. I don't. I just don't want to make anyone that mad. Yeah, too much work, dude.
B
I welcome it. I. I get hate all the time from who's. Who's hating on my neighbors, you know, my doctor. It never ends. Just my family. Yeah, I feel like my family has like their own subreddit about me, you.
A
Know, just like, just get out of my house. Working on it.
B
Here's the thing though, man, with. With Carrot Top. And like, you know, the comparison with Shab is that people hated Carrot Top because of the props. Not like, the thing is, it's hard for Shop because he's a standup. It's not that the art form is hack. That was the issue in the 80s. And it was like, oh, is his. His whole stick is a. Is a hack where people have come around be like, you know what. He actually, like, puts a lot of thought in these props, and they're really funny, but shove. It's like, you know, the people he's competing with. It's a. It's a hard. It's a hard game, you know, And I think if he. If he really wants to prove himself, he should be cutting his teeth. He should be really right. And he should be, yeah, running bits by people all the time. He should be, like, popping up in. In rooms, doing guest spots to try material. He should be putting the, you know, ax the grind, like, really going for it. That's what you have to do, you know, and he can't be doing what Rogan's doing. And Rogan talks about on this episode where he's like, yeah, I hate touring. I just do my club, you know, which, hey, at that point, you know, you have a ton of money. Do whatever the you want, you know, fair enough. But Rogan doesn't.
A
But I don't approve. But I also. I don't think it. It's gonna make his future specials better than if he faces those audiences that are like, boo, you're dumb. I mean, look, I'm sure he hasn't had those for a while. He's been popular for a long time, but his club is a very safe place. Right? And he's always talked about, like, hitting the road, going to the places that are ugly. And, you know, I just look like. It's not even my critique of it, but, like, look at the reviews on his last special. I mean, you know, and. And many of the people that I spoke to that I was like, did you often, they. They didn't even get through the whole thing. And they're Rogan fans. It's like that's saying something, especially because he was doubling down. He was like, oh, I had it all through Covid. It's like my cleanest Christmas stuff.
B
Yeah. He's like, I've been working on this for six years. And then he repeats.
A
In my opinion, it was. Yeah, he repeats a bit. He does a bit that like, Brendan actually did about having gay friends or, like, wishing he was just gay and hanging out with his boys. And it. It just. I don't know. It just honestly didn't even seem like Rogan. I've seen him so many times live at the Comedy Store. I used to go to Stand up on the spot all the time. I used to love throwing out topics when Rogan was up there and he would just, he is good at stand up. I know people have their own opinions. They don't care for specials like that. You know, if they're being haters or they're just whatever. But I'm telling you, he's good at this. I've seen a lot of comics do work. I studied it. I really enjoyed it. He is good. And you know, that last special just was not his strongest work.
B
I have a, I have a friend in LA and she was passed at the store and her like best friend actually dated Rogan. When, when Rogan is at the store and she was telling me, she's like, Rogan was a murderer. Like at the store. He, like when he was on, he would bring the house down. And it's like a part of me is like, I, I, it sucks that I missed that because I, I don't see that when I watch this special.
A
Yeah, dude, I, I've seen it so many times on Stand up on the Spot and when he's been working on his like hour with those 25 minute.
B
Slots that they give you at the.
A
Comedy Store, it's like in the main room. Yeah, he's like up there. He's doing great. It's like his stuff. He's good, right? He holds his own for sure amongst like some of the best. And Bill Burr could be on that card. Joey Diaz, Chris the Lear, back in the day before, you know, he was a rapist or crushing it in their own right. You know, Tom Segura would go up. It was just like a night of honestly killers and but when we used to get to stand up on the spot, Jeremiah walk in show, we go up there. Brian would often get me in because they would sell out or I'd forget to buy my tickets. They were always cool with me. Get in there and you know, it's like the improv should go. And almost no one ever stood out like Rogan did. I mean that was a brave show to do. He didn't need to do that. He didn't need to put himself up there. Few major comics did that show and definitely didn't do it consistently. Rogan did it every time it was on and yeah, there were just some gems that never made his act. They were, you know, jokes that he told one time and that's it. And he would just, he'd find a story for it, man. He just didn't let anything get in his way with it. It was very cool.
B
What do you think happened?
A
Who knows? I mean, it was. Well, think about it was Covid. So he wasn't performing, took a long break off. Even though he had the act for a long time, Covid made him pretty salty over the whole LA thing, over the whole transition. He went through that CNN thing with Ivermectin. I mean, there was some real challenges for him and he had to move. There was a lot going on in his life. And also he's getting bigger and bigger. Like, he's going through the freaking, you know, stratosphere with fame. So that probably does something in its own way. And then he's at his club and it's everyone just kind of on a pilgrimage, you know, kissing his ass in that sense. And, you know, and it's still a legit club. I. I don't mean that he's not training while he's out there and doing great work. And like, yeah, it's amazing. And if he. If he does, if he tells a joke that sucks, like, the audience won't laugh. I mean, you still got to work at it. But there is something different that's like playing home field advantage, I mean, for sure. And on top of that, I think the big thing was it was like one of the first live performances, if you remember, for Netflix. So it was like, at some point place in Houston, it was a live performance. So it wasn't. Usually what they do is two or three nights and they splice them together and they pick the best bits and the best jokes. And that night he just had to go straight through it. And who knows? Maybe it just wasn't quite as night. I mean, it's hard to say, dude, it's a. There's so much going on with. With standup. There's so much pressure.
B
There is.
A
It almost feels unfair to, like, critique it because I know how hard it is. But there's also a reality to it as well. It's like, hey, when you go to watch Michael Jordan play, you want the best dunks and the best plays. Like, I don't care that you had a tough week with your bookie, right? It's like, show up, perform, make it happen.
B
Well, you know, he always had this, like, Bill Hicks thing going on when he was in LA of this, like, conspiracy theory. The, like, constantly hunching up, where now he's, like, working with Trump. He's, like, in the government. He has the biggest podcast ever. He's almost in his own version of a Hollywood bubble at this point with, you know, a lot of his guests. He's hanging out with. And then the same comics and stand up comes from, like, real life experiences, you know, and unfortunately, you can't really get a ton of those because of the amount of bodyguards he has. He really has to be careful. Anything he does, everything that he plans to do is kind of in a controlled environment. But it's like, I. I kind of do wish he. He really, like, talked more about himself, like, deep dealing with that. Talking about hunting. Maybe like a joke about the podcast, because there's so many, like, other experiences he's had in life, but I don't know, man. It's like, I. I could never picture myself in that position. It's so unique. And he. He doesn't.
A
Yeah.
B
I mean, dude, he can either.
A
He can text Mark Zuckerberg, like, straight up. If there's, like, an Instagram issue he has, he can text it. And Mark is like, I'll figure this out. Yeah, I know this to be true. I know people that know Rogan that have had issues with IG and they have sent me the fucking thread, dude. And then their accounts were reinstated. Like, imagine that. He can also just be like, elon, what's going on with these aliens? Like, he can. The access that he has is unbelievable. And I think what's going to happen very soon, Even though Spotify is not figured this out yet, they're about to, like, figure out perfect AI translation. So it matches what he's saying, his tone, everything. And it sounds like Rogan, but it's in a different language. Imagine how that's going to open up for change. I mean, there's. There's bros the world over. He might be the most popular person in Russia in, like, five years. I feel like that place is full of bros.
B
Smelling salt sales will go through the roof. Yeah, like, it's. It's crazy to think about that.
A
Are you saying we're investing in smelling salts? I think we put all our money in there immediate. Let's get in early. It's like our bitcoin. Let's get in real early. The smellier the salts, the better.
B
Smelling salt coin. Let's do it.
A
Yeah, I think it. But I think it's true. I think that people are going to be really interested the world over. And right now it is reasonable to say it's limited to people that speak English. But there is a reason he picks up so much momentum with especially men in this country. It speaks to us all. Men.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, for whatever it is, doesn't make it.
B
It just feels. Yeah.
A
If you got no bros the one of the best things you can do is just, you know, listen to a Rogan.
B
Then you feel like.
A
King bro, you know? Yeah, he's a king bro dude.
B
Like, I also want to say, you know, connecting to your point about, like, who, like, you know, how he could just, like, hit up anybody. He was talking about on an episode where he's like, yeah, I think I'm going to talk to the big guy about, like, getting weed legal everywhere. Who the. What celebrity ever had that power of like, yeah, I'm gonna go hit up the president and. Because this is just. It's annoying having weed illegal here, so I'm just gonna hit him up.
A
Kanye. Kanye had it before Rogan.
B
Yeah.
A
And Trump would tie.
B
That is true. That is true.
A
So Kanye went full, well, listen to his last album.
B
Yeah, it's a little controversial, I've heard, but it's.
A
It's something else. But you're right. Where does that leave us?
B
Yeah, but. But in terms of, like, someone who is like, Trump might listen to, like, a media guy, like a news. Like a modern day news guy. Like, it's just crazy. It really is. Because that's, like, you know, didn't. What's that? Like, Elvis hung out with Nixon or whatever. Like, it's musicians. But. But this is like, you know, a personal relationship with someone like Rogan is. Is insane.
A
Imagine if the one thing that he says he wants to do moving forward is federally legalize weed. That's like, his only platform. He's just like, I'm still gonna do the show, but I've got this one agenda, and I want to make this a reality and gets it done.
B
This.
A
I mean.
B
Oh, that is the win. Goodness, that is.
A
Well, that's a wild achievement. You know, I mean, literally, when he was born, it was, like, massively illegal. And slowly, over time, just doing a stoner podcast. If anyone had said, like, imagine traveling back in time 2009, the podcast is brand new. You go to see Rogan and you'll just like, hey, real quick, this silly thing you do at your house will not only make you the one of the most famous people that ever lived, you will elect presidents with it, and you will get weed legalized. Like, what?
B
I'd be like, yeah, whatever, pass me that joint. All right.
A
Yeah.
B
I wouldn't believe it.
A
First he'd be like, I'm too stoned for this. I'm way too stoned for this.
B
Yeah, I wouldn't believe it for a second. But I think if Trump makes weed legal, that's the win. He needs the epine files. The whole. Did you see the whole thing where Tylenol causes autism? Which, you know, I. I did look in the cabinet this morning, and I do have Tylenol, so I guess it does explain a lot.
A
That explains it.
B
That explains why I know every Godzilla movie. It's like, yeah, he needs a win make.
A
Why I can draw the entire city of Manhattan just from my memory with pencil. It's like, yeah. Fully autistic.
B
Yeah.
A
Took a lot of time.
B
Check. Check that medicine cabinet. Dude.
A
I don't even know what to think anymore, man. How many minutes? How many minutes we in on this?
B
I think we are about time to wrap up. I think we. We got like a couple more minutes. I just want to say.
A
Nice. That.
B
Just want to. Like, we. We talked about this off air, but we have. We have to talk about this, dude.
A
The. Let's do it.
B
The soulful AI version of the 50 Cent Many Men song.
A
Oh, yeah. How do we forget this episode? Amazing.
B
Like, insane, man. And I've seen.
A
Where do you find that song? Do you know where it is? I cannot find it.
B
It's not on YouTube. It should be on YouTube.
A
I don't know.
B
I swore I found it on YouTube.
A
So I Shazammed it with.
B
It should be on YouTube. All that AI stuff is, dude, there's. There's some great country or ones. There's like. There's like Marty Robbins that, like, that, like, 50s country singer, like, singing straight out of Compton. Like, there's just some really, really funny stuff like Johnny Cash doing Baby Got Back.
A
Love it. See if you can find. See if you can find the link to that and put it in the bio for this episode just so people can enjoy it, because I will.
B
It's.
A
It's. You know, if you can. I mean, don't. Don't work too hard. People can look it up themselves. But it was so good, dude. It really is one of, like, the best songs. I'm like, oh, my God. I think artists could go back and do. I mean, I. I feel like you could do some incredible Nirvana songs with, like, a different style, you know, from the past. Right?
B
It's just like, there's so. Dude, if you. Like, I. I've gone down this rabbit hole. There is so much amazing, crazy AI blending out there. Like, this is just the tip of the iceberg. There's like, yeah, death metal songs that they. They make sound like it's doo wop. Like, it is insane.
A
Hilarious.
B
Yeah, it's. It's so funny. But it, like, works. And this is a great example of, like, damn. Like, I feel like with some of these rappers, when they get older, I love for them to, like, go in this direction because it works so well. Like a soul.
A
Yeah.
B
Rendition of their stuff. It's like, listen, if you can't walk anymore and you're just, like, fucking old and you don't want to rap and. And you're more just soul music and jazz now. It's like, it combine the two. This is. I would love to see this actually done. The problem is that some of these AI renders, especially when you're doing soulful stuff, I feel like you lose that element of feel because it is a robot putting this together. But just great. Just, like, really awesome stuff.
A
It was so cool to hear that. I was like, oh, damn. I couldn't believe how good it was, dude. The video is amazing as well. It'd be interesting to see, you know, what this turns into. I mean, I would like to believe that forget Netflix, Forget any sort of streaming platform. You just basically have a prompt and it's like, what type of movie would you like to watch? And you go, right, I would like to do Predator combined with Terminator, but I would like the Rock in it. And I would like Leonardo DiCaprio and somehow put, like, a Titanic element in there. But I want, like, a hardcore techno remix soundtrack.
B
And Jimmy carries the mask.
A
Yeah, of course. Well, of course. It just, like, puts it all together and it just, like, somehow works. And then it just keeps learning what gets you pumped because it's, like, tied into your Fitbit or your smartwatch, and it just knows, like, how into the movie you are based on the different bits that it's done. So it just makes even more perfect while robots do all the work for us and then we just sit on the couch forever.
B
Now, that is.
A
That's the future.
B
That is the complete fleet. The only. Like, I love art, you know, I love seeing what people make. I will never argue that. When it comes to porn, though, I think that's a great idea. I think that needs to be worked on. But that is just the future of, put your headset on and just let us just run dopamine through you for 24 hours, you know?
A
But that's where we're.
B
That's where we're going.
A
You just. You just keep pushing a button until your finger falls off. You just thought, amazing. You don't even know why you're happy.
B
Just give me 10 sequels of the Mask, you know, and I'll sit here forever.
A
I love it.
B
Well, hey, that was a great episode with Carrot Top who looked like Tiger King. I actually thought the Tiger King was on this episode when I saw the thumbnail, but it was good stuff.
A
It was great.
B
Chill guy.
A
Yeah, awesome. Check him out. Good old Carrot Top. I'm gonna go to Vegas and watch him sometime. We go on. Brandon, let's go to Vegas.
B
Yeah, we'll a. A company trip.
A
We do a live stream from there for our patreon. And. Yeah, thanks for listening, everybody, and we.
B
Will talk to you later.
Date: September 24, 2025
Hosts: Adam Thorne & Brandon
In this episode, Adam and Brandon break down Joe Rogan’s latest conversation with legendary prop comic Carrot Top (Scott Thompson). They dive into Carrot Top's career, his reputation in comedy, Vegas residency, and the ongoing drama in the "Rogan Sphere," all while reflecting on Rogan’s evolving place in comedy and pop culture. The conversation veers into themes of online hate in comedy, Vegas entertainment culture, and the meteoric influence of the Joe Rogan Experience.
The hosts close by celebrating Carrot Top’s likability, work ethic, and place in comedy lore, emphasizing that despite years of mockery, he’s come out on top—financially, reputationally, and in the affections of new fans. The episode also explores how Rogan’s influence now extends well beyond comedy, hinting at an era where AI and podcasting further reshape popular culture. As always, Adam and Brandon keep the banter irreverent, insightful, and self-deprecating, delivering a must-listen for Rogan obsessives.
