Hello friends and welcome back to another episode of the Juice Box Podcast. Overwhelmingly, the positivity that comes into the podcast through many channels is really fantastic, including reviews for the podcast. But every once in a while someone really doesn't like me. And recently I took to turning those poor reviews into songs and I was sharing them on my social media but they were so popular unexpectedly that I thought I would throw a couple here for you to hear. So I think I'm going to put in two or three very short. They're like 30 or 40 second songs. They're just basically the bad reviews sung or put to like Broadway tunes and then I'll put one at the end that's maybe not so bad. Let me add that nothing you hear on the Juice Box Podcast should be considered advice, medical or otherwise. Always consult a physician before making any changes to your healthcare plan. This person seems to not like how much content there is and they definitely don't like me.

There is a lot of information, however, there is a lot of repetition and the host is obnoxious. He is busy talking about himself versus the information needed. It would also be helpful if the titles told the user what the podcast subject is so that they can listen to podcasts about a needed subject. So very obnoxious.

This next one feels like it's going to be great and then sort of isn't at the end. Sort of definitely isn't at the end. I checked with Jenny by the way, and she said this isn't true.

Helpful information, brilliant information and great tips offered. On the podcast I gained insight on management which has resulted in better control of my T1D. Jenny Smith adds credibility to the material provided the host, Scott, talks too much and cuts People off.

Okay, we'll do one more. I'm sorry, that one makes me laugh. We'll do one more bad one, and then I'll give you a good one. She really doesn't like me.

Good info, but bad host. Lots of good information, but the host never shuts up about himself and is a complete egomaniac. He's also an insufferable elitist. Kind of the best and the worst of most resources.
Scott
Well, at least they like the content. Also, I, I, I don't know. It's hard to figure out how you. I don't want to try to parse this too much. I don't understand how you like the podcast and not me. Aren't I the po? It's not important. Okay, so here's one from somebody who apparently doesn't think I'm a horrible, obnoxious boar.
Long-time Listener
Almost 50 years living with this. Thought I knew everything I needed by now. Was I wrong or was I wrong? My wife heard about it from a teacher at a school pointing me to about three years ago I started slow hit and miss an episode here and there. Then I got hooked up. Refreshing and unique. That's all I said. That's all I wrote. Now I make educated decisions about the settings on my pump and I can't wait for the next one. The tools on that website are invaluable.

And the group.
Long-time Listener
The group is awesome, too. He understands this disease like no one I have ever met who never had to live it. This is something we have needed. Something we have needed for decades. Not the fear, not the shame. Just somebody saying it. Plain repression. Unique. Thought I knew everything by now. Was I wrong? Oh, was I wrong? Scott thanks for all you do. Thanks for all you do. Thanks for for all you do. Thanks for all you do.

But please don't do that. Just for fun, please. I mean, you know what? If you want to leave a five star review, that sounds bad. No, no, don't do that. Go leave a great review. Anyway, I don't have that many bad reviews, but I think I might turn them all into songs. So if you guys are enjoying this, let me know. We'll do it again if I'm bothering you. He invites the audience to laugh along at his expense and uses criticism as an opportunity for community engagement and levity. The overall mood is warm, supportive, and encouraging for listeners living with type 1 diabetes.
This episode is a refreshing reminder not to take criticism too personally. Scott’s playful approach to reading and performing bad reviews stands as a lesson in resilience and the importance of maintaining perspective—especially in the often harsh world of public feedback. The heartfelt positive reviews balance the humor, reaffirming the podcast’s value in the diabetes community. Scott closes by inviting engagement—in reviews, listener surveys, and research participation—anchoring the podcast as an inclusive, listener-driven resource.
