Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So I don't think it was meant for me. I did audition for Nickelodeon once when I was like, right before I quit. They hated me. They hated me.
Trisha Paytas
What show?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know I saw, like, the Egyptian outfit out in the living room.
Trisha Paytas
The little king tat one.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes, the King T. I was like, this is like history. Like, this is an iconic piece. Like, I can't believe I'm looking at it right now.
Trisha Paytas
Speaking of spin offs, was there supposed to be a spin off of Cam and Mitch and.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, it was definitely pitched. And then I think.
Trisha Paytas
Her name is Trish.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She's got the mission all across.
Trisha Paytas
Filthy rich, pretty and pink, Hot Topic queen and says what everybody thinks she's just Trish.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yay.
Trisha Paytas
Hey, guys. Welcome back to the Just Trish podcast. Today we have a TV icon. She plays Lily in Modern Family, but you can currently see her all over social media, reviewing her favorite foods or playing her guitar. Everyone, please welcome to the show Aubrey Anderson Evans.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my. Hi, everybody. Wait, which camera am I supposed to look at?
Trisha Paytas
There's your close up and there's the wide.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Okay, cool.
Trisha Paytas
I was nervous. I'm still nervous. I was telling you right before. I'm like, no, I was nervous too, which is wild. Okay, so work. It's a very rare thing that I currently meet someone I'm currently hyper fixated on. Meaning we just restarted Modern Family. Well, it's kind of my first time watching it, but maybe a couple months ago, we started, like, watching from the beginning, and so now we're maybe on, like, season, like, I don't know, four or five. And so it's like, probably more like six or something. And it's, like, so surreal to see you in person. Cause we watch you, like, literally every single night for probably four episodes a night for the past three months, so.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my gosh.
Trisha Paytas
Thank you for being here.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Thank you for being a fan of the show.
Trisha Paytas
Well, I'm a fan of you as well because I was also saying, like, I see you on TikTok, and I just never put the two together. That you were like the same little girl from A Modern Family, which is so crazy. So how are you? How is everything?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I'm good. I'm good. I had a tap dancing lesson this morning. You know, I'm a musical theater nerd and. And I know you are too. So we need to delve into this.
Trisha Paytas
Yes. I have so many questions. I did not know this about you. I listened to the Dinner's on Me podcast with Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and you guys were talking about you loved Hamilton. And was it like cabaret or something like that?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah. Cabaret is one of my favorite musicals, which is crazy.
Trisha Paytas
I had no idea about this. So you tapped in this morning. Are you, like, auditioning for something or.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I'm just preparing in case I need to audition for musical theater and stuff like that currently. And I might audition for colleges for musical theater next year.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, wow.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
So you are going to go to college?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Maybe, maybe not. Because the thing is, if I booked a job right now that was steady, I'd be like, no, I'm not going to college. I'd rather work a job. But I could. The college life does seem fun. And I did some conservatory things over the summer, and I really liked the vibe. So maybe I will go to college. It really just depends on work.
Trisha Paytas
What's like conservatory? What is that like, theater?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's like conservatories are just like. Yeah, kind of like more like colleges for theaters, but, like, programs for it and stuff. So, yeah, I was just doing singing a lot for different colleges over the summer and stuff like that.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh. I didn't know. I didn't know you were, like, a singer. Like, I feel like they had to do so many things on Modern Family, but singing wasn't one that I've seen yet.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, it wasn't. It's actually funny. Cause on Modern Family, I'm supposed to be a horrible singer. Cause there's this one episode where the dads are trying to teach me how to sing, and I can't sing. And I'm like, trying to sing, and I just can't do it. So it's really funny. Like, everybody in my comment sections, they're always like, what? Lily can sing now and then? Like, the other joke that people make is that they're just like. You know that one scene where it's like, Dylan and he's like, haley, Haley, I just want to do you. Everybody's like, you should cover that song. And it's to the point where I'm like, I feel like I should just do it because it's going to go viral.
Trisha Paytas
Yes. Has she done it yet with your band or anything?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I have not.
Trisha Paytas
At one of your shows, you just start singing it. That'd be so funny.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Imagine.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, God, that would be really viral. I feel like you're so viral right now as Lily for Modern Family. So to see you growing up, doing that, actually being a good singer, people would lose their minds for sure.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, I try. It's funny, though, because, like, I feel like I'll post, like, music and stuff that I write, and it'll, like, get the least amount of views.
Trisha Paytas
Really?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. It's like the, like, especially as of recent. And I think it has something to do with me being, like, getting verified on TikTok. Since I got verified, I have not gotten the same views that I did.
Trisha Paytas
That's so interesting. Have you joined, like, the creator program? Like, the creator fun, like, at paid form.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I think you have to be 18. I could be wrong.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you're right.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But I think you might have to be a team.
Trisha Paytas
I'm so. Oh, my gosh, your mom is here today, which is, like, so cool. I love it because your mom's also.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, she's a queen.
Trisha Paytas
Queen of food mania reviews. TikTok like, everything. I watch so much and I'm like, okay. So excited. But I Forget that you're 17 years old.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, man.
Trisha Paytas
That's. So you've been working since you were three and a half?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Three and a half. Four. I think. I auditioned when I was three and a half. Or maybe I was freshly four and then. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
And you're still, like, not burnt out from acting. You're like, I want to do another job.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, the thing is, like, I took a break from it for a while, like, right after the show ended. Like, it was crazy, the timing of the whole thing. Cause we shot the last season and the last episode, and then Covid happened like a month after, and everybody was in lockdown.
Trisha Paytas
Oh.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So, like, the timing was perfect for getting the whole show done and out. Wow. So then the whole industry was completely shut down for like a year or two. And then everything switched to self tapes instead of going in person for auditions and stuff. And like, I. Oh. Doing self tapes, I just. It's not my favorite. And at the time, just. Just auditioning in general, I was not experienced at it because I was on a show for so long.
Trisha Paytas
I never needed to get casted right away.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Exactly. So I just. I didn't have that experience. And it gave me so much anxiety when I was younger. I think I was about 12 or 13. And I told my mom I was like, I want to quit. And I did. I quit for a while. And I lived a little bit of, like, a normal life. As much of a normal life as you could live in quarantine when you're in middle school. And then I went back to regular school, ninth grade. And then I started getting into my theater department. And that's how I decided I want to get back into it and stuff.
Trisha Paytas
Wow. How surreal. How cool is that? So you're back in regular school? You're in public school?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I was in public school.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh. And then you joined the theater program. Do you have to audition? And they're like, you just starred on this huge series. So, like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, the thing is, it was a very small school, even though it is a public school. There was only 300 kids, not even just in the grade, but the whole school. So I just took the class there, which you don't have to audition to get into.
Trisha Paytas
Okay.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And then, yeah, I did some of the musicals there and the straight play stuff. But, yeah, you have to audition for those.
Trisha Paytas
But did people treat you differently?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. And the thing is, right before I went to that public school that I was at, I went to a different high school. And that's where it's like a regular one where it's like, there's 4,000 kids and it's really crowded, and it's like, yeah, people will stare at you and stuff. And people are really nice about it sometimes, but it's just like, it feels disrespectful. And I'm in the lunch line, and it's like, bro, I'm trying to eat a really burger from the lunch. I'm trying to eat at the cafeteria, girl. And people just keep coming up to me and they'll FaceTime people and put the phone in my face and stuff like that. Yeah. And it's just like, it was very overwhelming.
Trisha Paytas
Like, fellow kids. Fellow students.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, students and stuff. Wait, that's.
Trisha Paytas
It must be so weird on both ends, because if you're, like, a TV star that had been on for, like, the whole life, to see you would be so surreal. Like, I'm sure they couldn't help themselves, but then to be you, it's interesting, for sure.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And, like, I feel like I have to be careful about who I trust as a friend, especially, like, at school and stuff like that. I mean, now I have, like, a pretty solid crew of people that I. I love and trust. But, you know when, like, getting back into that after quarantine, especially where nobody's socializing at all, like, navigating. That was interesting.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's. Yeah. And then did you have friends while you're doing Modern Family that you are your age?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I mean, like, outside of the show, like. Yeah, but think about it. Like, the kids, there was Rico, Nolan, and Ariel. Ariel. Those were, like, the main three kids in the show, and they were way older than me. I think they're, like, 25 right now. So they're way older than me. So it was kind of isolating on set because there was nobody my age.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. So you have like. Yeah, so that must be. And then how many days are you working as a child?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It just depended on the episode because sometimes I wouldn't even be in one. And the thing is, people, like, it was like a thing in the industry at the time where it's like, Modern Family is, like, the best show to be on.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because, like, well, we had a really good craft services, too. Like, the food and stuff. It was, like, apparently amazing compared to the other shows. I don't really know because I wasn't on the other ones. But, like, workload wise, the thing is, there's the different houses. So it was like, you know, one day would be like, for the Dunphy family, and they would shoot that stuff. So it's like, we wouldn't have to work five days a week. Like, it'd be rare, like, unless we were on. Like, unless it was one where it's like, oh, we're doing the Disneyland episode where we're all there together for a week, or we're doing like a. Like a holiday episode. Then it was kind of different and we had to work the whole week. But otherwise, like, sometimes I wouldn't work at all in a week or I'd work one to three days. I feel like, wow.
Trisha Paytas
And how are you at that age? Like, what is even audition, like? Because, by the way, you're, like, living my dream. I think child stardom sounds like the best thing ever. Obviously there's, like, documentaries out about it now that seem scary.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Very, very scary. But I mean, yeah, that was. That was like Nickelodeon, though. That's like a whole different situation.
Trisha Paytas
Like, nothing at ABC was like that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I mean, technically, ABC is owned by Disney.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, so the Disney kids are fine. The Nickelodeon kids seem to have gone through some trauma.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I feel like Disney, like, being a Disney Disney kid, though, on the channel, it was like a completely different experience from what I had.
Trisha Paytas
That's true. They're around like other kids. So you're kind of on this. Like, really grown up.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Exactly. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Did you ever want to be a Disney Channel? Like a Disney Channel star?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, yeah, like, not really. I mean, you can probably tell. I mean, on the kid, like, the character on Modern Family, like, was so tone deaf and, like, whatever. And I'm so like this. It's like, you don't see Disney kids that are, like, really chilled out like this. You don't see Disney kids with like, deep voices like this at that age. You know what I mean? So I don't think it was meant for me. I did audition for Nickelodeon once when I was like, right before I quit. They hated me. They hated me.
Trisha Paytas
What show?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know. It was just like. It was just to, like, go in for Nickelodeon and just for them to see me, I think. And no, I don't think it's for me.
Trisha Paytas
Explain it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't really know, but I went into the Nickelodeon office and I just read a couple of scripts for them and stuff. I don't really remember it too well, but no, like, I don't think that type of acting is for me. And I think, like, I've grown a lot since I've been in high school and had more experience with acting now and with other fellow students. It's been nice. Yeah, I have more experience now, even though it's just high school experience, but.
Trisha Paytas
Which is so wild to see you on the show as such, like, a little kid, like, being so good because, like you said, you draw from experience, but you don't really have experience at 4 years old. So, like, how are you? Just as you. It's most natural because your mom's a comedian, right? Your mom was a comedian, and so it's just like, in your genes to.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Be a performer, I guess. I don't really know. I mean, many people would say otherwise. I mean, I don't know if you've looked at, like, Reddit or, like, seen, like, things about me online, but it's like, dude, people would be like, she is the worst child actor. And the thing is, I'm never necessarily, like, you're wrong. Because, like, the thing is, I had no experience.
Trisha Paytas
Like, no, I never, like, you're so good. And I'm not just saying this like we talked about on the podcast. I think that's why we've DMed, because I talk about it so much. I'm just like, you're so good. Like, your comedic timing, your stunt work. Like, we watched the episode last night where you're doing, like, the face in the picture and they're not like, telling you, like, that you're smiling.
Aubrey's Mom
Not good.
Trisha Paytas
And he keep doing this weird phase. And I was like, wait, how does she know how to be funny? Like, how do you know to be funny at that age?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, it just. I feel like it depends on who's directing that episode. I mean, I feel like there were a lot of people who were really good at dealing with the kids on set because they had had, you know, the other kids to deal with, like, Nolan and Ariel before me, so. And I had a great studio teacher. Her name was Ms. Sharon. So she really stood up for me throughout the whole thing. But my mom, like, you know, you can't really, like, read at the age of four, or at least not that well.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So my mom would just read the lines to me, and then I would just memorize them because she would just read him. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
That's so crazy. So, like, if you're like. Is like, oh, thanks, dad. She's gonna. She tells you the line, but then is she also reading the other line? Like, if she's camera Mitch, is she reading those lines and then telling you what to say after?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. And, I mean, she could even explain, like, if you want to talk about it, because you know better than me if you would like to talk about it, because she's here. But.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I'm excited. You're so cute, by the way. I was so excited to see her. Yes. Here she is. Come here. Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
I mean, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God, I'm so fascinated.
Aubrey's Mom
I look like such a slob right now. You look so cute.
Trisha Paytas
No, I love this one.
Aubrey's Mom
I was just working on a construction site. I'm like, hey, what's going on?
Trisha Paytas
You're literally the cutest. I was so excited to see you.
Aubrey's Mom
No. Cause I had, like, a busy morning, and I was, like, carrying packages and stuff. I'm like, okay, let's go to Trish's house now. You look awesome.
Trisha Paytas
Thank you both for being here. So, yeah, I'm so, like, fascinated by this. Okay, so, like, you're reading lines to her. So you're reading both the opposite and her lines, and she's just repeating them after you, basically.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, and here's. Okay, so here's a cute story from when she had the auditions, because usually when you get on a network show, especially, like, since she joined third season, the show was already a huge hit and was syndicated and stuff like that. So you usually have to do, like, audition, callback, callback, producer session, chemistry reads. Then you have to be network approved. And she only had to do three auditions, which is kind of unheard of. And I couldn't. I mean, I. My agent wanted to submit her, and I was like. Because I'm an actor too, and I'm like, she's never gonna book it. She's gonna be going up against professional kids. Like, if you're six.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And how professional can you be when you're four years old?
Aubrey's Mom
There are kids who've been working since they're indictments. Six months. You know, she had zero experience. She didn't know how to memorize a line or what a script was or what a set looked like or anything. And I'm like, she's. She'll never book it. But my agent's like, let me just submit her. I really think she has a chance. I'm okay, fine. And she said she wanted to try. And I never ever thought she was actually gonna book it. And then 10 days later, I was signing a network contract. Oh, wow. Yeah. I couldn't believe it. But when we went for her, she did a chemistry read with Jesse Tyler. And that was her last audition. That's where she booked it on the way they shot on the Fox lot, which are driving from the valley down the Fox lot. And we were running the scene. It was like a two page dialogue with like the dad and her. And then she goes, now let's switch it. You know, she's four. She goes, let's switch. I'm gonna be the daddy and you play the little girl. I'm like, no, honey, we can't do that. It's gonna confuse you. You're gonna get screwed up. And she's like, yes, Mommy, I want to do it that way. Okay, once, but then we have to practice it the normal way. So we did it and then we switched the lines and then we were. I remember we were in the Galaxy parking ramp.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
And I'm like, now do it the normal way so you don't screw up when you're in there. And yeah, she. I mean, she didn't like nail it. Nail. But she, obviously she did. She was what they thought was a good fit.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
What? I mean, it must be just. Yeah. Then it just comes natural to remember all that at that age. So you're like learning all the parts. I mean, that's like super genius almost.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, here's another little secret behind the scenes too, is that. So she mentioned her studio teacher. Her name is Sharon Sacks. She's like legendary in like Hollywood studio teacher land. And she may be retired now, but anyway, shout out to Sharon. She's the best. She was there the whole, whole, whole run of the entire show and worked with all the kids. And when Aubrey was really little, you know, before she could read and stuff, she would kind of hide on set those, like that first year or two, like, like say if you're sitting on the couch with your dad and you had lunch, she sit behind the couch and she would prompt you if it Was like a really confusing scene because if sometimes it was more than like three people talking or whatever, it was hard for her to know when to come in and she would, like, prompt her, like when her line would come.
Trisha Paytas
Up to like, start saying, so she.
Aubrey's Mom
Did have a little help like that.
Trisha Paytas
Wow. I mean, but that is amazing to, like, get to do all of that. Were you going against, like, twins or anything to play, you know, like Mary Kate and Ashley, like, you know, for the role.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I doubt that they would have twins because, you know, they had twins before me to play and then they switched me out. The thing is, I think they wanted a kid that could be on for the whole show, so it would have been impossible for them to do twins.
Trisha Paytas
I see. To, like, switch it up. So that's pretty amazing.
Aubrey's Mom
Wow. And then, like, the. Jeremy was played by twins, wasn't it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, he was like, oh, you haven't.
Aubrey's Mom
Gotten that far yet. But, like, later, you know, they just had a baby. Yeah. So they had twins that played Jeremy before, like, the main. The kid that actually, like, was the full time kid and it was a boy and a girl. Because babies, you can't tell the difference.
Trisha Paytas
I have to watch it. I have to watch it now to see, like, which one is the boy, which one is the girl. That's. I wonder if you can tell.
Aubrey's Mom
But it was ironically, it was the girl who really wanted to be on the set. And the boy would cry. So Jeremy was mostly girl at the beginning.
Trisha Paytas
And are you there, like, every day that she's filming?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She was.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Unless I was working too. Then I'd have to hire a set sitter.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh. Yeah. That's like. Because it is kind of like a full time job to have, like a child star and then to have your job and then to be with her, like, that's a lot.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, do you think you would want your kids to act?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I would love it. And now hearing, like, this story of success makes me excited, but I heard so many bad stories. But I was like, as a kid, I wanted to be at three, I wanted to be on commercials. I was like, Full House was a thing. And I was like, I want to do that, but my parents didn't know how. With my daughter, I was like, maybe I should get her into stuff. And hearing this story makes me, like, excited about it. But I don't know.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I would say, wait till they know what they want to do.
Trisha Paytas
Like, really?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I would say, wait. Yeah, yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
We both would say, don't do it.
Trisha Paytas
Really? Like, tell Me, Because I think you guys are so, like, normal. And so. You know what I mean?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know. I'm trying to think. Cause it's like. Yeah. I mean, Modern Family has brought me so many blessings into, like, so many blessings into my life, and, like, I'm forever grateful. But, like, I think kids need to have, like, a normal experience, and I don't know if that's the way to do it. And I feel like I definitely was more troubled when I became older because of the show.
Trisha Paytas
Really? Cause everything I've heard.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Like, what's wrong?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, troubled eras.
Trisha Paytas
Like, tell me, like, the show ends and what you feel. What do you feel when this ends? You're like, what do I do with, like, you're just, what, 12 when it ends?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I was like, 12, and then. Yeah. I don't know. I just. I would just say wait, because I felt like I didn't really know what I wanted to do after the show. And I think, like, figuring out your hobbies and experiences for yourself is important. Not having your parents choose that for you. And it's not like, she chose that for me.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because I said I wanted to do it, but it's like, how do you choose what you want to do for eight years when you're four years old? Like, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
And probably as a parent, you just think, like, I always think, like, oh, you set her up. You know, you did the right thing. So it is interesting to hear both perspectives of it. You know what I mean? And it's kind of like that with kids on social media now, right? It's like, I have my daughter, and it's like, how much do you put her on? How much do you not. She, like, loves to be on camera, but is it invasive? Is it, like, later on she'll be mad at me that I did that? I don't know. It's like, such a.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, I think. I mean, just my opinion, but, you know, of course, like, we always. There's a couple of different documentaries out about trouble. Child stars and people who said they were unhappy or were abused, even, you know, like, really horrible things. But my belief is the majority of kids in this industry turn out just fine or even really great. A lot of adult actors were child actors and are really thriving in their careers. And a lot of people who were child actors go on to do completely different things. They end their careers and they go on to be lawyers and teachers and parents and normal people, and they're totally fine. But that's not who we hear about. We want to hear about the ones who are trouble, old, walking the streets. Right. But I think no matter because honestly, we know a ton of kids who are in this industry. We know a lot of people who are not. And I'd say more kids who were not in the industry are having troubles, you know, in their teens than the industry kids.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's just the fact that it's being like, online. It's just the fact that it's on social media. This is just teenager stuff. And I feel like. Like, I feel like there was like a whole thing online for, like, a long time, like during the quarantine era where, like, kids were, like, really popular online. And like Charlie D'Amelio, Addison Rae, like, all them, it's like they get in trouble for stuff all the time online. It's like they vaped once and it's like. Yeah, because they're teenagers and you have to see it.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't think it just really, like, whether your kids are like soccer or mathletes or whatever they do. They're actors, whatever it is that they're into dancers, like, it really just comes down to relationship. Like, do you have a genuine relationship with your kid? And if you do, then, you know you're going to be fine. But if the relationship is difficult and strained for it, because there are a lot of, like, look at those horrible sports parents. Look at those horrible dance parents. Like, they're. They're just as. That's the same stuff. It's just not on tv. We just don't care about it.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's almost like, worse because they say it's all like, for fake, but those kids are, like, crying and I'm like. But it's like you're still inflicting some sort of pain on these kids. You know what I mean? At least.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
That is. That's a whole different world. That reality TV for children is, like, really, really scary. But I know.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And like, I've watched a lot of dance moms and stuff, too.
Trisha Paytas
Me too. That actually, that is abusive. Like you said. Like, they say it's fake, but feels so bad.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I don't know how those people feel about that experience. I don't know anybody personally from that show, but it just seems so wild and so.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Dramatic and like, of course, now be listening to the JoJo Siwa stuff. Wait, did you cosplay Jojo Siwa once?
Trisha Paytas
I feel like you did.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Stop.
Trisha Paytas
I'm kind of low key. A Jojo Siwa supporter. I like her. Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, My God.
Aubrey's Mom
You know what? I will say we've met her a couple times.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
We have. She's always been super nice. I went to her 16th birthday party.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, and was nice to her little fans, like, what all. She took time with them.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She was never rude.
Aubrey's Mom
She was always such a nice person. Yeah. And we haven't always seen that with other people. Like, she's seems to care about people who support her.
Trisha Paytas
I've always said that, too. I feel like I met her a few times when she was also young, like 15 and 7. She was, like, really, really nice and really, like, professional and really, you know, genuine. So I think she does get, like, a little bit of a bad rap now, but I think it's maybe she's also maybe trolling a little bit, you know what I mean? I think now she's kind of.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She's just spicing up her life right now. She's making some fun music and she's humping on the stage and she can.
Trisha Paytas
She can do that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And drinking. Tito's on stage.
Aubrey's Mom
She's doing.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She's living her best life. She's getting drunk at Disneyland. Yeah, I'm here for it.
Aubrey's Mom
She got drunk at Disneyland?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes.
Trisha Paytas
It was like a whole thing.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It was like, for her 21st birthday or something.
Trisha Paytas
It was controversial, too. People were, like, mad about it because she was, like, drunk at Disneyland in front of kids. I like your take on it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Because a lot of people were like, let her live her life. It's Epcot. Because, like, you can drink around. Oh, yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
People are drunk at Epcot.
Trisha Paytas
That's the tea right there. Yeah. It is interesting that she's. To see that child star kind of become, like, you know, an adult and then, like, rebranding in a way, which is, like, really interesting. Do you think you'll have a rebrand at, like, extreme like that?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know. I mean, because the thing is, I'm a musician, so. And I'm working on releasing my solo music currently. And, I mean, it's obvious, like, I don't have anything out on Spotify or anything yet, but I've got stuff recorded and I'm waiting to take pictures for all of it. So I think when the time comes to release that stuff, then I kind of want to rebrand a bit.
Trisha Paytas
Is it like, pop or is it the stuff you're doing with October, the band? Like, is it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, my own stuff.
Trisha Paytas
So is it more poppy? It, like, what genre?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You can listen to it after we finish the episode if you want. Yeah, but I Would say it's like indie pop folk. It's giving that vibe. But yeah. Do you know the song by Maps one that's popular online? It's like, wait, they don't love you, like I love you. You know that song, the one that's, like, really popular online right now?
Trisha Paytas
There's a dance.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
They don't love you. Like, I. You know the dance that I'm talking about? No, I did.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I did a cover of that song. So I'm going to release that soon, and that's gonna be the first thing that I release. I might even change my name. Like, I might change my stage name.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, really? Do you have any ideas?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I might change it to Francis Anderson.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, that's cool.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Y'all look back on this podcast when I'm like, on tour, like in a few years. Just kidding.
Trisha Paytas
Where's Francis? You don't like the Francis?
Aubrey's Mom
No, I do. That's her middle name. Francis.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Francis Anderson.
Aubrey's Mom
She hated it when she was young. She was like, oh, yeah, my middle name's so stupid.
Trisha Paytas
Is it named after someone in the family?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's a family friend, right? A couple, right?
Aubrey's Mom
No, it's really kind of nothing. It's just a name that I. Not nothing. But you know Bud Friedman, who used to. He founded the improv comedy club. Yes. I'm a comedian, so I knew Bud and he. His. I can't remember if it's his cousin or his aunt anyway, but she was his secretary for years and years and years. She passed away quite a while ago. But when she came to Aubrey's baby shower and I knew her and when you would perform at the different clubs, you would go up to her office to get your check. This is back when you still had to get a check. And her name was Fran. And so I just always loved Fran. And Fran loved you. I have a picture of her holding you a baby. And I just always liked the name Frances. And remember, like that Francis. The little kids books. Yeah, Francis.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey's Mom
Anyway, I don't remember. She always liked the name. And then she hated it when she was.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, because people were just like, that's like a middle aged. Like, that's just like a man name.
Trisha Paytas
It is my dad's name. Francis.
Aubrey's Mom
And the e. CES female and CIS is the male.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, I see.
Trisha Paytas
I love it. I like consider naming my daughter Frances because of my dad. I thought it was such a cool name. But it is really pretty. And that's gonna be a great stage name because like you said, no one's really named that anymore. So I think. And it is your name, which is.
Aubrey's Mom
Really flows well too.
Trisha Paytas
It fits you for sure.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So we'll see what happens once I release music. But that's what I'm currently working on.
Trisha Paytas
Oh my gosh, how fun. And so are you working with like other producers, doing it all yourself?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I have a producer that I really like currently. His name is Elliot. He's really, really nice. But I don't have a music manager or anything, so I figuring it all out right now.
Aubrey's Mom
We don't know anything about the music world.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Nothing. I know you have music released online. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
I'm surprised you guys are so connected in the world of like, entertainment or something.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I could help you. Music wise, we're nothing.
Aubrey's Mom
It's a difficult.
Trisha Paytas
I think it's so, like a lot of people are doing independent now because from what I've heard about recording contracts is they like, kind of like, are a little bit of a scam, you know what I mean? Like, as far as like, you know, you have to like, they give you up front, but then like recouping, it takes forever. So I think a lot of people put out music independently just to like, have control of it. I don't know.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I'm like looking at young people who are like releasing music and really popular right now. It seems like they really have like a big Persona and like, aesthetic and like they really know what they want. And I know, I feel like it's just like so obvious that it's being pushed by their label.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So hard. And I love all of them so much and they're so iconic. But I'm like, how real and authentic is this? Because I want to be authentic throughout what I do.
Trisha Paytas
That's what yours comes across on. On Instagram and TikTok and all stuff like that. Like, it's very. It's very authentic. You're like in your room, you know, you're just like this young girl.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I'm like on the floor, like, so relatable.
Trisha Paytas
I think so many people do put money into like, production and stuff. And I think that is something that's like missing because I love all those girlies too. I love pop girlies. But, like, I think that is definitely missing. And I feel like there's no one young doing that kind of music. And I think it'd be really, really cool to hear you sing and do that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Thank you. Also, speaking of pop girlies, you went to go see the Wicked premiere Ariana Grande are we were trying to go and get my publicist Wait, how did you not manage?
Aubrey's Mom
Wait, what?
Trisha Paytas
I feel like every. Every single person was there.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I know everybody was there, I swear.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God. That's wild, actually. That's so crazy. It was amazing. It was.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
The dress was beautiful.
Trisha Paytas
Thank you. Wicked is. This was our second time seeing. I got to see an early screening, and then this. I don't know why I never get invited to anything. It's my first time I've ever been invited, so. I don't know how you didn't, because. But I did. I was trying to, like, ask every single person I know. I was like, is there a way to get it? And they just, like, randomly emailed me one day. But it's so good. I love musical theater more than anything. It's like Broadway. You think you'll do.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I would love to do Broadway at some point in my life. Am I ready for that right now? Absolutely not. But I'm training, and I'm getting there. I do tap once a week, Jazz once a week. I try to do two vocal lessons a week. So I'm training. You know, cooking in the process. You know what I mean?
Trisha Paytas
That would be. Did you see Sarah Hyland in Little Shop?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
We did.
Aubrey's Mom
We did, yes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It was amazing. Did you see it?
Trisha Paytas
I didn't get to see her in it. I saw it years ago when it opened with Christian Borle, and I loved it. But I haven't seen. And I saw that she was in it, and I was like, did you guys make a special trip for that?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I was already there for, like. I was there for summer camp, for musical theater camp. So then right afterwards, we're like, we'll go see some shows and stuff. And we were like, we have to see it while we're there.
Trisha Paytas
I didn't know she sang.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No. Yeah, she's been performing.
Aubrey's Mom
Her dad is a Broadway star. Her dad is John Hyland.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh.
Aubrey's Mom
I didn't know. But, yeah, she started out and she was in the Annie movie as Molly. She played little Molly, like, back in the day. And the one that was in the 90s or whatever. Oh, okay.
Trisha Paytas
So not the one that just came.
Aubrey's Mom
Out, like, 50 versions?
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I'm, like, trying to think of that one. Okay.
Aubrey's Mom
Not the one with Coving.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Before that Jamie Fox one?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah. Not.
Trisha Paytas
Not the Jamie Fox one. Was it the one with Christian Chenoweth and Alan Cummings? Was they. Were they in it? Kathy Bates, maybe.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, God, I'm so confused. Which is.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
There's probably, like, a million Annie movies.
Trisha Paytas
I know.
Aubrey's Mom
Carol Burnett was in one and what?
Trisha Paytas
That was like, the original? Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't even know.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. I know they're all confusing to me because I'm like, okay, so she was.
Aubrey's Mom
She was in one of those. But yeah, she's. She was phenomenal. And Andrew Bart Feldman was the.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God, he's so amazing. Oh, my God.
Aubrey's Mom
They were like our cuz. We've seen that show many times, like, in different places, but that was for.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Sure the best time that we've seen it.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I can't imagine. I saw him in Dear Evan Hansen and he was like, oh, my God.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Didn't you do a cover of Waving Through a Window once online?
Trisha Paytas
I've done the COVID of that. Suddenly.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I've been watching those and then.
Trisha Paytas
They should do a song together. I think I'd be intimidated. I really am intimidated. Even, like, sitting here with you because I really like all the stuff you've accomplished is actually amazing. And it's something to be really proud of, even if you didn't choose it. It's a really cool life.
Aubrey's Mom
It's just happening to me.
Trisha Paytas
I know, but it really kind of did. Which is so cool in a way.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, it feels like the Modern Family thing. I feel like it did just kind of happen to me, but I feel like now I'm making my own decisions now that I'm starting to become. It's weird. I'm like, wait, am I a young adult now? Like, it's starting to feel a woman.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, you're getting there. Yeah. Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So just navigating that has been an interesting thing. But, yeah, I'm trying my best to make it in the industry and to stay strong.
Trisha Paytas
I mean, you've already definitely made it, but continuing to make it, I think Broadway will be such a cool. What would be your dream role?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, Sally Bowles and Cabaret.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that would be so good. Well, they're doing cabaret right now.
Aubrey's Mom
Good.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Sally bowls. That'd be like a dream role for me. And, like, I haven't seen the new one. I kind of wanted to see it when I was there, but we saw it on Broadway with Alan coming. Like, when. How old was I when I was 7?
Trisha Paytas
At 7?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. I saw Cavalry when I was 7.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, and she, I guess, is this the youngest person you've had? She's like, I think so.
Trisha Paytas
I mean, that is a wild one to see at 7 years old.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, but she already knew the music and she saw they performed on the Tony's that year on tv.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I see.
Aubrey's Mom
And she was like, like, what Is this. I want to say. Oh, I surprised her with tickets because.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I met Alan Cumming afterwards.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, she did a. She was doing. So I'm like, let's just go down and see a show. So I surprised her and she. She freaked out. And yeah, we met Alan.
Trisha Paytas
He's my favorite person. I love Traders. I'm like, obsessed with that show because of him. Have you watched it?
Aubrey's Mom
I know, it's really so good.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's like a reality.
Trisha Paytas
He's so theatrical. They have a lot of, like, reality stars competing and he's like, so theatrical. Alan Cumming is like my favorite human in the whole world too. I've never met him, but he says.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, so at the time we met him, she used to have a talent. She used to have a little fish tank. And we had two matching fish. They're called hatchet fish. And there were two. They looked like exactly the same. And she was so obsessed. She was obsessed with Alan coming when she was like, I had like a.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Crush on Alan coming.
Trisha Paytas
What? From what?
Aubrey's Mom
A little about a little bit when she found out he was married to a man.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, same, same.
Aubrey's Mom
We were flipping through his Instagram and I said, oh, that's his husband.
Trisha Paytas
She went, well, I think he's by.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So there's always a chance he's married to a man.
Trisha Paytas
He is married, yes.
Aubrey's Mom
But anyway, so when we met him, Aubrey. So the one of the. She was so obsessed with them. She named these two matching fish. She named them Alan and Cumming.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh, that's so cute.
Aubrey's Mom
And then Alan died.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So then there was just Coming, just coming.
Aubrey's Mom
In his green room.
Trisha Paytas
You know, she called Club Coming Saturday.
Aubrey's Mom
So I was telling him the story and I'm like, so I was telling him about the fish. He was like, oh, oh, my God, I love this. And then. And I showed him a picture. So we had a little burial for Ellen in the backyard. We buried him. I had a picture of him laying in the dirt before we covered him. I said, this was Ellen. He's like, oh, my God, can you send me that picture? I'm obsessed with it. And then so I said, I sent him that picture.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Impressions are so good.
Aubrey's Mom
I said, but now we just have Coming.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He was like, we just have Cummings.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, it's amazing.
Trisha Paytas
Well, you know, Club Cumming is fitting. I love that he loved the story. I love that he, like, you guys got to go in the green room and hang out with him. Like, that's.
Aubrey's Mom
There's a video of her on YouTube of them wrestling in the green room.
Trisha Paytas
We at Seven. What did you know from the Jetta crush on.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Just. Just Cabaret.
Trisha Paytas
Just Cabaret. Because I was. I saw like Romeo Michelle and I had such a crush on him in that movie.
Aubrey's Mom
I haven't seen that. Have you? No, I mean, you know, she's 17. It's so funny.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, it's so funny. And he's. He's so handsome. And he plays like one of the romantically handsome. He is and everything.
Aubrey's Mom
That chimp crazy documentary.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You heard of Crazy Dog?
Trisha Paytas
Heard of it, but I haven't seen it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Girl, I feel like you really like this. He's.
Aubrey's Mom
He's an advocate for animal rights and.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He'S with like, PETA kind of, I think, or whatever. But he worked with one of these chimpanzees and like, he was like, connected to the whole story about like, this lady who owned all these chimps and stuff. It was a whole thing.
Aubrey's Mom
He was like, hidden away and stuff. But he's interviewed throughout the four episodes and they were showing several clips from the movie which he did back in the 90s or whatever.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He was so.
Aubrey's Mom
Wow, look how handsome.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Sorry, Alan coming. I'm not trying to be creepy, so if you ever watch this, I'm sorry.
Trisha Paytas
But, like, you creepy with him.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I'm always creepy with him.
Trisha Paytas
No, he's my crush. He knows. He's. He is my number one. I've never heard of anyone else obsessed with Alan coming the way. Like, that's crazy. Josie and the Pussycats is another one where he's like, really cute.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Okay.
Aubrey's Mom
Remember we watched it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Obviously when you're older. Eyes Wide Shut is a good one that he's in. Like, he's. He's in so many. Yeah, he's his. Oh, his everything is amazing. I love him in so many ways, but I love that, you know from Cabaret.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes.
Trisha Paytas
He is a king. Yeah. The new Cabaret is so different than his cabaret, which I haven't seen either, but it looks good. I think the girl who played who's singing voice of Moana is in as Sally Bowles right now.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah, I think.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. Yeah. She's with Adam Lambert right now as the two leads.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I just saw a clip of Adam Lambert doing I don't Care Very Much and it was like, really good. Yeah, I think.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I've heard. Oh, yeah. Alan Cummings version. I heard too. I think it's on itunes. He does, like, a really, really good or mein hair. He does really well too.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah. That whole album.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Where he does all the covers at 7. Do you understand the concept of it. No.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Cabaret. No. I mean, obviously, looking back, I understand now, but I think I understood to some degree when I was younger. But, like, I don't know, also that.
Aubrey's Mom
Year, she really wanted to be.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, stop.
Trisha Paytas
I love these stories.
Aubrey's Mom
I love that KitKat girl for Halloween. No, you said not appropriate.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, yeah, they're like hookers. Like, what?
Aubrey's Mom
I'm like, you know.
Trisha Paytas
No.
Aubrey's Mom
When over 18, you can maybe, but, like, no, it's not appropriate for a kid. And she was so upset. So she was dressed as Wonder Woman that year.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
You were a Wonder Woman zombie. You did little Zombie on the. But then she kept doing the cabaret dance. Love that little.
Trisha Paytas
Like, it's giving Cabaret today. You have the haircut.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, this is very Sally Bowles.
Trisha Paytas
It's giving very much Broadway. That's.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my gosh. This was literally the only. The three pink things that I had in my closet was this robe. And then this is kind of pink because of this. And then this rose quartz necklace.
Trisha Paytas
You made the shirt?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
She crochets.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She has a little crocheting business. Wait, really?
Aubrey's Mom
That's so cute. Crochet and do jigsaw puzzles.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That's my.
Trisha Paytas
Is that your life? This is so funny to see you guys in person. Like, I just crochet, and I wish.
Aubrey's Mom
That was my whole life. I'm just sitting, like, scarves.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's kind of fun. I mean, that's really cute. I love the whole. That's, like, a really cute vibe.
Aubrey's Mom
Cute on you.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Thank you. It would look cute on you, too.
Trisha Paytas
Have you ever worn your own crochet?
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, I mean, I have hats and scarves.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh. Wait, how. This is so cool. So what is this, like, dynamic? Like, how did you guys become, like, best friends? Or have you always been, like, you're so close?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't really know. I mean, it's just like, you know, she's a single mom, and I mostly grew up in her house, and I don't, like, on her side. I don't have any other siblings, so it's just kind of like us and the dogs.
Trisha Paytas
Okay, so you had that bond.
Aubrey's Mom
But honestly, I feel like. I feel like since we were together all the time because of modern. Like, not that we wouldn't have been close without it, but it certainly, I think, played a role in our dynamic of being kind of like a team. Like, we're almost like a work team, but then also like a family team as well. But. And because it's just the two of us, because I Know, there are a lot of people who have kids in the business and they've got another kid who does this, you know, who does basketball, so they spread a little more thin. And I've tried to find a balance of not being a helicopter mom, but that I have to be there all the time because literally, like by law she has to have an adult with her on set.
Trisha Paytas
Right.
Aubrey's Mom
So I don't know, I think we were kind of like forced to have a decent relationship. Yeah. And there are definitely people in the business, business who don't have good relation. Parent, kid relationships.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. You guys stayed so close with it all.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah. But we also, we kind of joke. We always go, we're the same person because we, we have the same interests. We have a lot of the same interests. We have the, like, we laugh at the same stuff all the time. We'll make the same jokes, like simultaneously.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know we're both like in our bedrooms in the middle of the night, like sending each other Instagram reels off the house, like, no, literally. It's so fun.
Trisha Paytas
I love that so much. I'm still. Our daughter's still sleeping with us. She. And I'm like, I want her to sleep with us forever. You know what I mean? Because I couldn't imagine having like a separate room than my daughter, you know, because you just want to like be so close with them and it's like so cool. Today we had a photo shoot when she was like living for it, you know, just like a Christmas card thing and she was like living her best life and she could be a star. But then I'm like, let me not be that parent, you know what I mean? Because you just, you, you know, you think that's what like, you know, she might want. But what are your guys hobbies Together?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Together? Well, obviously we have our Food channel Food Mania review. We love trying, but she's actually on a diet right now.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, no.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's called Whole30.
Trisha Paytas
What is this? No. Why?
Aubrey's Mom
Because it's mostly an anti inflammatory diet and like, we both deal with like really bad eczema. She has extreme eczema all over my.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I have it too.
Aubrey's Mom
Look, I have on my elbow right now.
Trisha Paytas
I have eczema too.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah. So just trying to get like control of inflammation and. But it's just like a gut health reset and I'm just.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You can eat nothing, I swear.
Trisha Paytas
No. What do you eat on it?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, here's what you can't eat and then everything else you can. But it's basically no grains, so no rice, no wheat, no corn.
Trisha Paytas
You're like, oh, God, yeah. That's like, everything. I love all of that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I know, but that's what's.
Trisha Paytas
Potatoes.
Aubrey's Mom
But that's no potatoes you can eat.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because it's not a grain.
Aubrey's Mom
You can have any vegetables, any fruit, any meat product.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
You can't have any legumes, so no peanuts, soybeans, that kind of stuff. But that's what makes it hard because it's like, no soy sauce or rice or, like, you know, there's barely any sauces.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You can have sauces because they're full.
Aubrey's Mom
Of sugar and no oils, except for avocado and olive oil. Olive oil and. And avocado oil are okay, but you can't have, like, canola oil and vegetable oil. And so, like, those oils are in everything. Corn is in everything. Rice is amazing in sugar and no refined sugar, you know, fruit sugars. So you can't eat a lot. You just have to have the right things in your house.
Trisha Paytas
Right.
Aubrey's Mom
The first day, we didn't have time to shop before, and I was like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She was dying and she was so tired yesterday.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, no.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, 4K. We both worked out a lot during quarantine, and.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, yeah, we book up.
Trisha Paytas
You got in your fitness, really?
Aubrey's Mom
We did.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Doing what? My freshman year, muscular wave.
Trisha Paytas
Really? What are you guys doing, like, working out in the garage or.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, we have a little workout area in our home.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. Wow. So, like, quarantine starts. Modern Family's over, and it was it always going to be over at when it started or was there, like, a chance it could come back?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I think they wanted it to end on that season.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah. I would say, like, from. Because it went for 11 seasons, and I would say from season nine on, every year, kind of toward the end, it was kind of like, maybe.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
We'll see.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, it was always a little bit up in the air. And the final season, 11th, wasn't a full season because they usually did a full, like, 22 or 24 episodes. They didn't. I don't remember. But it's a short. If you look on, like. Like on tv, like, it's. It's a shorter season. But yeah, they. They kind of knew in advance like, this going into that season. They knew this is the last one, and there's no chance of renewing, so. Because the creators want it to be done, you know, you always want to leave them wanting more. You don't want to jump the shark and then limp to the finish line. Like, Nobody's watching anymore.
Trisha Paytas
Is that the longest running TV show? It must be, huh?
Aubrey's Mom
No, but they did. They are tied with Frasier for the most consecutive Emmy wins.
Trisha Paytas
How many does Frasier have?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Five.
Aubrey's Mom
They both have five. So they both are, like, the most winning, like, comedy series.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I wonder. What? The longest running TV show.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's what I wonder.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, TV or comedy? I mean, comedy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Soap operas have been.
Trisha Paytas
Right. Aside from soap opera. Soap operas.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Right.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, comedy. I wonder.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I feel like it has to be scripted. Modern Family.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't know how long Frasier went for.
Trisha Paytas
I don't know.
Aubrey's Mom
Cheers. Oh, that one is, like, who knows Laverne and Shirley? Those shows.
Trisha Paytas
11 years. Seems like none of them would seem to go that long. I don't know.
Aubrey's Mom
How long was Seinfeld on for?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah, Seinfeld.
Aubrey's Mom
I feel like, you know, Seinfeld, Moses or.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, he's looking up to see what it is. I'm so. Yeah, because Friends was 10 years, right? I think that was like, 10 years, but.
Aubrey's Mom
And what about, like, Big Bang Theory? How many years?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that did go on a long time.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Last of the Summer Wine. A comedy that. Last of the summer. Like, 19.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But okay. 31 seasons.
Trisha Paytas
31 seasons. Last of the Summer comedy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Spend half of your life on a show. Like, 30 seasons.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah. They all feel so young right now.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
What, the old babies. I know.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you should have, like, American comedy. Yeah. Simpsons is still going, right?
Aubrey's Mom
They're still on it, right?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
All love to be a Simpsons voice.
Trisha Paytas
I think that would be the best. You don't even have to, like, look good. You can just memorize.
Aubrey's Mom
You have to dress up. You don't. Doesn't matter when you age.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey's Mom
Play a child your whole life, literally.
Trisha Paytas
Okay, so you're still, like, actively auditioning for TV and stuff?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah, for sure.
Aubrey's Mom
And everything.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, okay. So you're, like, still wanting to full on do this.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I'm at it. I'm trying. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Wow.
Aubrey's Mom
She auditioned for a show that she really, really wanted. She didn't get. And so, like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Wait, which one? Oh, the BoJack.
Aubrey's Mom
The BoJack Horseman creators. They have a new.
Trisha Paytas
A new one coming out.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's like a. I feel like they're being secretive about it right now. Yeah, But I love BoJack Horseman. I wanted to cosplay as Sarah Lynn for Halloween at some point, but I didn't. I didn't do it this year. She would still die.
Trisha Paytas
You could still cosplay even after Halloween.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You're the queen of that. You Didn't. Weren't you guys Fiero and Galinda?
Trisha Paytas
We did it multiple times. Yeah. I love. I love cosplaying. I love dressing up. Like, all of that is so fun. Even if it's not Halloween, I like to do it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know. I saw like, the Egyptian outfit out.
Aubrey's Mom
In the living room.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. The King T. I was like, this is like history. Like, this is an iconic piece. Like, I can't believe I'm looking at it right now.
Trisha Paytas
Like, it's very like, you're Gen Z, right? It's very Gen Z of you to like, back. Oh, are you Gen Z or you Gen Alpha? Was it the next gen?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I'm Gen Z.
Trisha Paytas
Okay.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And like, my mom, like, she was like. My mom was like, who's Trisha Paytas?
Aubrey's Mom
And I was like, you don't know Gen X?
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, yeah, yeah, totally.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You don't know, dude. Like, all my friends. And it was like, really funny. Like, we started kind of getting in contact because I had followed you for a long time and. But my friend, she was like, she DM'd me. She was like, trisha Paytas just talked about you on her podcast. And I was like, what? And she showed me the video and I was like, ain't no way I have to DM her. Like, I have DM her.
Trisha Paytas
I was so shook. I was so shook. I like, double checked. I was like, because we're so in it right now. Modern Family, we're just like, obsessed with it. And I'm like, wait, this. And we go through obsessions like Lost, Desperate Housewives. And I get really obsessed with the characters, the people on the show. And so I've never met someone that I was currently obsessed with. So I was like, this is so crazy. I can't believe this is happening. And everyone glammed this morning. Like, who do you have on today? When I said you, they were like, no way. Because it is so iconic and specifically Lily on Modern Family, everyone's really great. But because you were this, like, child that was so funny and so, like, amazing on the show. I think people, because again, you're just really smart on the show. I love it. I'm obsessed with it, but that's really cool. So speaking of spin offs, was there supposed to be a spin off of the cam and Mitch and.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, it was definitely pitched. And then I think. Was it the network that said no or who said that?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, a couple of the writers actually did write probably a pilot or something, and they pitched it. And what I think is accurate don't totally hold me to it, but I think the network didn't want to do it. I don't know why. And I think it was kind of like, wah wah. Because everybody who was involved, so the original show creators, you know, Leviton, Lloyd, they were not involved, but they gave their blessing to the. Some of the writers who were longtime writers in the show. And so they were the ones who were developing it. And it just didn't get. They didn't have the interest for. I don't know why.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And everybody asks for one now, so I'm like, why wouldn't they want that? And honestly, I think they should pitch it again. But the thing is, I don't know if Jesse would want to do that.
Aubrey's Mom
He said he didn't.
Trisha Paytas
When you did the podcast.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. He was like, I don't know. I mean, I would do it.
Aubrey's Mom
Time has passed now.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's like, yeah, that I feel like people ask more now than they did after it first ended.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
It's having a resurgence for some reason. I don't know if it just went.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know.
Trisha Paytas
Or what. Like, something about it is, like, coming. Everyone's talking about it. It's all over. Tick tock. All the edits, like you were mentioning. Like, it's. It's really interesting how it's having this, like, second life.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, for sure. And like, I think, like, there's been like a couple times, like, during high school where it's like, really, like, peaked and it's been like, oh, my God. Like.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And it was really funny because I had Tick tock for, like, since I, like, since I was a modern family, I've had TikTok, like, at the age of 12. So I started doing TikToks then, but nobody really followed me at all. And then once the show was over and I turned 13, people found me online. And I woke up one morning and I had a million likes on a video. And I was like, whoa. Because it was like I had like, maybe 10,000 followers before. So I was like, what the heck is going on?
Trisha Paytas
That's interesting. I wonder why when I did.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know. I think people were shocked to see that. Like, I looked kind of more like, you know, like a young woman more than, like. I think people were really shocked about that. And that's kind of how I, like, gained my following, like, from. There is just like posting random little vids online and.
Trisha Paytas
Wow. Cause you did grow up so fast. I saw, like, some edits of it. It's like older Lily. And I was just like, oh, my gosh, you look like you're, like, 17 then. That's when you said you're 17. I was like, wait, you look so much more grown. When the show ended, you sounded more mature. All of that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, exactly. I've kind of had this voice for, like, a little while now, and. But yeah, people, like, for. I used to be, like, taller than all my friends. I, like, kind of had a growth spurt at a very young age. So that's been interesting. No, Being in the public eye, it's.
Trisha Paytas
So surreal to watch. I, you know, I used to do, like, background work, and I did one episode of Modern Family, and people still tell me to this day it's called Go Bullfrog Season three. Like, episode three.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I must keep that in mind.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I've been looking for it. Cause you said, I saw, like, you were. I was like, scrolling on my. For your page. And then you made that video about, like, you know, how you kind of had your career started. You're like, I went on America's Got Talent and I went on, blah, blah, blah. And then you were like, I went on Modern Family. And I, like, paused for a second. I was like, what was that a. She was a Modern family.
Trisha Paytas
No. So it's a scene where Claire goes out with Cam and Mitch, and they have. It's a guest star, Gil Jill. He plays a gay guy, but he's not gay. And they talk about all the people who have plastic surgery in the room. And then Claire asks, oh, what do they do with all the extra, like, fat they take out? And then, like, they show, like, my cleavage, walk past. And then they're like, there it is. So I don't even have a line, but people recognize me so much, you know, like, Twitter, everything. Tick tock. Everyone's like, trisha Payton's a Modern Family. I'm like, I didn't even have one line. I walked right past the actor who plays Cam, so. And he, like, looks over there. And then that was. That was my big debut. And I was like, people love the show. So much of that one little, like, spot is, like, what people know me from, like, 15 years later. So I can't even imagine your fame from that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You know, I've, like. Because, you know, you mentioned that all the stuff in the video, and me and my friend last night, we had a sleepover, and, like, we were like, we have to watch some of the podcast, and we have to watch Trisha Paytas moments so I can prepare myself for this podcast. I want you to tell Me. The story about how you got on America's Got Talent and how all of that was. Oh, well, because I watched that last night.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. Well, I never even watched it because everything I've done has been quite embarrassing. I've always wanted to be, like, famous, but I was never really talented at, like, acting. Thank God for social media, because that helped me. But I was never talented, like, acting or singing. So I just took every single thing. So whether it was, like, Ellen J. Len, like, any show that wanted me, I just said yes to. And so they found me on YouTube. I was just talking, and one of the producers was like, do you want to come on America's Got Talent audition? I'm like, for what? And, like, just talk fast. I was like, okay. So I haven't watched it, but I know I got all the X's right away. And it was the most embarrassing thing. I, like, blocked it out of my life of, like, disassociated.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But I remember, though you. I remember, like, you. I was watching it. I want to be Howard Stern.
Trisha Paytas
I know.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Even though you got all the exes, he went up on stage and he gave you a hug.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, he was very sweet. I mean, now it's cringey that I wanted me Howard Stern. When I look back at all this, I was like, oh, when I was a kid, he gives me the creeps.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Literally. He said, I know, I'm sorry.
Trisha Paytas
No, he definitely does. And when you look back at all the awful things he's done, his career, I was like, why did I obsess over him so much? Like, it is kind of embarrassing now, but at the time, I really did love him. But back to the spin off. So you guys did film something together recently. You were, like, inside the house?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I was not there. It was for a WhatsApp commercial.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
What was the one where you're. Everyone's there, but you're holding a picture of Phil? Like, everyone's holding a picture of Phil, but you're in that photo. Is that not it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. Okay. So basically, that was a Modern Family reunion. The only time that's ever happened since the show has ended.
Aubrey's Mom
Just like a personal, just casual get together.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, and I remember Justin, Jesse's husband, texted me and was like, hey, we're gonna have a reunion thingy at Sophia's house. No parents allowed those, so just have your mom drop you off or whatever. Wait, why do you like us? I was 16 at the time. This happened, like, last year. Yeah, last year in September, this happened.
Trisha Paytas
So that's so Odd, though.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, parents.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So I was like, interesting, but only child, so. Yeah. But I was like, I must go. I can't not go to this.
Trisha Paytas
Really? I love that because, like, I know.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I never go to any of their houses, and it was Sofia Vergara's house, and I was like, a. Okay, I gotta go.
Aubrey's Mom
It was the first time she got included with, like, adults. The big kids and the adults.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's cool. That is cool. Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. So it was. It was pretty cool. The only person that was my age There was Ed O'Neill's daughter, Claire. I don't know if you guys have seen her online. She's, like, beautiful, stunning. Like, curly hair, blue eyes, and, like, she's really good friends with. I don't know if you know who this is, but Ariana Greenblatt.
Trisha Paytas
I love her. Yes, I love her.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know they're really tight, but, yeah, Claire is cool. So she was there. I mean, her hung out. But, yeah, I got to see all around the house, like, the closet and all the heels. I was shook the size of your bedroom.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, she has this other room that's just all. More dresses.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I can't even imagine. What a dream. I watch her. We watch America's Got Talent and we watch her on there, and I'm like, how? She's just, like, so amazing. I love the whole cast. I really do. Who was. I guess. Do you kind of biases. Who's, like, your favorite but you probably your dad's on the show.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Jesse. Like, hands down, Jesse. I mean, like, I. I love Eric, too, but, like, I'm not as close with him, and I don't keep in contact with him.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He's a really funny guy, though. Like, oh, my God. And he has so many, like, funny talents. Like, he's a drummer and he's. And he actually went to clown school in real life.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, they wrote that into the show for.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes, they did.
Aubrey's Mom
A lot of his little things are based off, like, the pig farm.
Trisha Paytas
Was he a pig farmer?
Aubrey's Mom
He lives in Missouri now. Like, we really. I think. I don't remember. But he grew up in that area, right? Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's cool. So they brought that in, did clowning as a kid. Wow.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He would make balloon animals on set every now and then. I remember, like, do you remember that?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
That's cute. Oh, my God. But you and Jesse, you guys just, like, hung out more, talked more.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, you guys are both like.
Trisha Paytas
He's musical theater, too. He's Broadway.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That most definitely helped. And, you know, he has little kids now, too. And, you know, that's what.
Trisha Paytas
I was so surprised I was hearing your podcast with him, and he said that his oldest son was the age you were when Modern Family started, which I'm like, that's so, like. Like crazy.
Aubrey's Mom
I can't even imagine my kid acting and doing everything that she did at that age.
Trisha Paytas
Because at three, I mean, it's just like, three and a half. It's like, so. Yeah, I can't imagine either. That's just, like, amazing. You must have been, like, a genius. Well, you probably are a genius.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know about that one, but.
Trisha Paytas
So you did the reunion at the house, but it wasn't for. It wasn't filmed or anything like that?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, it felt like more of a private thing. For sure. But, yeah, of course, we posted all those pictures online, and people went nuts. Yes.
Aubrey's Mom
So that everybody. They were holding tight picture because they.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Thought he was dead.
Trisha Paytas
It definitely.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I thought that, too.
Trisha Paytas
I saw that, too, and I was like, oh, my gosh.
Aubrey's Mom
Ow.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, oh, my God.
Aubrey's Mom
What happened?
Trisha Paytas
It was a crazy choice. Whoever decided to do that, that was.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Kind of wild either just didn't want. Well, I'm like, I don't really know.
Aubrey's Mom
He mostly lives in Utah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, he lived out. Yeah. And I know Ariel. She lives in, like, somewhere in Tennessee currently. Wow. With her boyfriend and her dogs.
Trisha Paytas
No. Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Nolan's. Nolan's living his best life. It was his birthday recently.
Aubrey's Mom
Living in a van for a while.
Trisha Paytas
I love that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. Exploring.
Aubrey's Mom
Rico lives in Texas. They still have a house.
Trisha Paytas
Really?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
But you are both Valley girls. Were you born in the Valley as well?
Aubrey's Mom
No, I'm from Minnesota, but I came.
Trisha Paytas
Out here pretty young when I was.
Aubrey's Mom
One, but she was born here.
Trisha Paytas
Valley.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
That's pretty fun, though, to be, like, grow up out here in California.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I honestly, like, love it. And I know people who are born here and have lived, like, here their whole lives, and they're just like, I hate it so much, but I don't. In all honesty, like, we have everything here. Like, we have a million Trader Joe's and Targets, and we also have, like, you know, live entertainment is great. Like, we have the Ahundson. We have the Pantages.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You know what I mean? Like, and if you want to audition. Yeah, if you want auditions, it's a great place to be. Unless you want to live in New York and audition for Broadway. Where did you grow up?
Aubrey's Mom
Right.
Trisha Paytas
I grew up in Illinois, and then.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
My grandparents live in Illinois. That's where my dad's from what area? Mount Carmel.
Aubrey's Mom
Southern.
Trisha Paytas
On the. Oh, Southern. I'm Northern, so I'm Rockford, Illinois, by Chicago. Yeah. So we would go up to, like, Minnesota, Mall of America, all those. I love the Midwest.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Did you go to Mall of America?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah, we've been.
Trisha Paytas
It's.
Aubrey's Mom
My brother met his wife working there.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my gosh.
Trisha Paytas
Where? At the store.
Aubrey's Mom
At the Camp Snoopy amusement park.
Trisha Paytas
Is it still there?
Aubrey's Mom
It's Nickelodeon Universe now, but it used to be. Originally it was Camp Snoopy, and that's where Uncle Matt and Lisa.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, that's so funny.
Trisha Paytas
They used to have auditions at that mall for, like, all that. Do you remember that show on Nickelodeon? Like, I auditioned for them. Yeah. Oh, my God. Yeah. But I didn't get anywhere. But I did audition, and they used to have a ton of auditions up that way. And so we'd always drive up to Minnesota. Who knows if they were legit or not? Maybe they weren't. But it was. It was fun. I agree with you, though. La. I just, like. I love it so much. But I also get why people move out. But you would relocate if you did, like, Broadway, like, for a little bit.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
A little bit, Yeah. I would love living in New York for a bit.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. I love, like, walking everywhere and, like, using the subway. It's so fun.
Trisha Paytas
That's so cool. How was Lin Manuel Miranda when he was on? Did you get to meet him?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my gosh, no. Because I think I didn't. Well, one, I didn't know who he was at the time. And then, like, I met him, though, once at the Moana premiere.
Trisha Paytas
Really?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Dude, I had the biggest Hamilton phase. Like, anybody who knew me when I was, like, 8 years old would tell you, please, please.
Trisha Paytas
I'm obsessed with Hamilton, too. Me.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And then I don't know if, you know, like, Reagan Reward, who was on Young Sheldon, but me and her were best friends at the time, and we decided we're, like, we're gonna do Hamilton in our backyard.
Trisha Paytas
I need to see.
Aubrey's Mom
They had it planned out. They were gonna cast their friend.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I was Hamilton and she was Lyn. She was. I mean, she was. Yeah, she was Burr.
Aubrey's Mom
Wow.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But then my mom was like, you know, since we're going to the Moana premiere, you should bring your Hamilton music book and see if he's there and we'll sign it for you.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So I, like, I saw him and I tapped him on the back and he turned around, and I immediately just freaked out and started sobbing.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, my God, who she was.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He turned around, he went, I know you. You guys don't understand. I had the biggest crush on this man. Like, I don't know.
Trisha Paytas
I love your crushes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Him and that ponytail.
Trisha Paytas
When I was like, like, theater boys, I there. I'm like, I was like that with agents Later. Like, everyone. I'm always like, it's. They don't understand. Like, you don't get it unless you're like a theater girly. Like, I barely.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, I've never fangirled like that in my life, and it hasn't happened since.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, I don't know who it would.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Happen for if it.
Trisha Paytas
Do you have anyone now? Like, a hyper fixation right now?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Hyper fixation.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, I know who. Jeremy Allen White.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, okay. I hate to say stuff like this because, like, what if I end up, like, working with people? Like, you never know what's gonna happen.
Aubrey's Mom
You're like, no, no, no.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I think he's really, really talented, though. And I love the bear. And. Yeah, he's great.
Aubrey's Mom
Timothy Chalamet.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, Timothy Chalamet. You saw the lookalike contest? Yes.
Trisha Paytas
You should have gone there. You could have met somebody.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I could have rizzed, you know, at the Timothee Chalamet.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, you met him?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No. Did you watch Bones and All?
Trisha Paytas
No.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Okay, so he was. Yeah, he was in this movie called Bones and All. And my mom was like, I woke up this one morning and my hair was really messy. And she goes, wait, you look like Timothee Chalamet. Freeze.
Trisha Paytas
You could have did the contest.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Not in a hot way, though. It was like, boy, what the hell?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, my arm was all smashed like a mullet.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I'm like, what the hell?
Aubrey's Mom
Wait, this is you.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That's side by side.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, my God.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, that's. That's crazy. Okay. I was like, wait, what? I thought I was looking at a movie poster or something.
Aubrey's Mom
Brother and sister. Like, brother and brother.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That's my twin. Like, twin. Where have you been?
Trisha Paytas
I kind of love that. Okay, I. That's crazy because you actually do look like him.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God.
Trisha Paytas
Like, in that photo. Yeah, yeah. Not like, in general. She's laying in her bed.
Aubrey's Mom
I'm like, she looked up. Wait, freeze. Don't move.
Trisha Paytas
She's like, why?
Aubrey's Mom
I'm like, I need to take a picture right now.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God. I love that. Oh, my God. So he's another one. Jeremy Allen White. That's so. Did you see. Was it. That was the Iron Claw.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my. I did watch that.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, that Was really, really good. And Zac Efron did a great job. I saw you cosplayed Zac Efron. I just watched High School Musical 2 for the first time. For the first time, yes. It was wonderful. I fell asleep. But you know what part I did get to? It's like the what about us? What about everything? That's about how far I made it.
Trisha Paytas
I love that song.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I fell asleep.
Trisha Paytas
But yeah, High School Musical was like my. But you're still like advanced. Like all the musicals you like. Like Alan Cumming Hamilton, like, that's like so wild for someone so young, you.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Know, Hamilton is not that advanced. I think everybody at my age has had a Hamilton phase at some point in their life.
Trisha Paytas
That one is pretty good. What year is it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's a canon event.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, 2014.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
2014? Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
I feel like 27ish.
Trisha Paytas
Wow. Maybe 14.
Aubrey's Mom
15.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
14 or 15, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh man, that one is so good. And did you get to see it on Broadway?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I did. And not with the original cast, but my. Yeah. My agency is also the same as Jordan Fisher's, so Jordan Fisher gave me his house seats because he's so lovely and so we got to see him in it and it was really great.
Trisha Paytas
He's so good. He's in Hadestown right now, I think.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know. And is Lola tongue still in it too or no?
Trisha Paytas
Yes, I think. Well, the last I saw on TikTok. I love Hadestown. That's like one of my favorites too.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I think I'm gonna do it at a local theater near my house. I'm so excited. I know. I want to audition.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, so you do community theater? Do you do like stuff with your. So you did high school, then you did the conservatory. So you just find these auditions like where. Like in a.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well for conservatory stuff that you just like kind of audition for it, like a pre screen or like a self tape and then you just see if you get accepted. Like a college program.
Trisha Paytas
Okay.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Okay, exactly. But community theater? Well, I mean, with school it's easy, but the one now it's like. Yeah, you just audition and anyone can.
Trisha Paytas
Just go if you're in the area.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, like for kids. Yeah, this one's for kids specifically, but.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, so it's like Hadestown Junior.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, Hadestown Junior. Because it just came out this year. Like people are finally getting the rights to it.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's cool. So it's all kids in the production. That's so like looking at you, it's just so crazy. I can't. I like keep forgetting that you're, like, 17. Like, you are a kid. Like, it's, like, so crazy to think that's gonna be fun. Oh, my God.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So you, like, I'm excited.
Trisha Paytas
And I love that you just go audition because you think, like, being on a show for so long, you would just think, like, oh, they should just, like, cast me because they know I can act. Look at my, like, record.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But you're like, that would be wonderful if they would. Hey, if any. Cast me young.
Aubrey's Mom
I think a lot of people assume that, like, oh, yeah, she probably can.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Just get a million offers.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
But it's not.
Trisha Paytas
It's not like that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's not like that.
Trisha Paytas
That's wild. You do a show for so long. You got nominated for a SEG award at 4.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I wasn't nominated. Like, me specifically, was I?
Aubrey's Mom
The cast. The cast is different since it's peer nominated. It's other actors acting. Voting for the other actors.
Trisha Paytas
Oh.
Aubrey's Mom
And so instead of it, like, the Emmys and the Golden Globe, it's, like, the best comedy, like, the show.
Trisha Paytas
I see.
Aubrey's Mom
But for SAG Award, it's the best cast ensemble.
Trisha Paytas
So you were in that nomination.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So I think I was the youngest person to win a SAG award or, like, to have one.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, so you did. You guys won that year, then?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, they won it, like, four times.
Aubrey's Mom
In three years, and I think I have three.
Trisha Paytas
Wow.
Aubrey's Mom
Before you were there.
Trisha Paytas
I mean, that's what I'm saying. So you win a SEG award at 4 years old. That's, like, insane.
Aubrey's Mom
She holds the record of being the youngest person ever to walk the Emmys. Carpet as a nominee.
Trisha Paytas
You were nominated for an Emmy.
Aubrey's Mom
The show won the Emmy five times. Not her, but the show won five times.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
But you're in the ensemble. Do you get, like, an actual Emmy?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
They don't. Yeah, the actors, they don't give them Emmys, but the producers and the directors, they get it.
Trisha Paytas
But you won for best, like, comedy ensemble, so you're in there. That is wild. That is so crazy. Oh, my God. Were you intimidated to go?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, the thing is, I've always hated doing, like, interviews and stuff like that. It's always given me, like, a lot of anxiety growing up.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because people just ask you weird questions, and they ask you, like, what's. What are you excited? Like, I don't know. When you just go to random events and people ask you what you're excited for and stuff like that, and you're young, you don't know what to say, and people start Talking about politics.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, they don't know what to ask.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like it's the worst. So I remember once my mom got me like hypnotized by this lady so that I could like get over.
Aubrey's Mom
That's just more anxiety because she literally.
Trisha Paytas
Would start to cry. Did it work? Did the hypnotization work?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know. I think I'm definitely less fearful now. But that was when I was like 12 and like, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Does it stay with you when you get hypnotized? Like I've never done that, but I do love the idea of it. Does it stay with you forever or is it just like temporary? Like for an hour? You're like in this trance.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, I don't really know. Cuz the thing is some people do it for bigger things. Like oh, they'll say like, yeah, I did it for smoking and I never smoked again. And it's like, I don't know how that works for a lot of people.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, you know, I did it. Not the same person, but after she was born. I don't know about you, after you had your kids, but like I had horrible anxiety and I had never had any issues like that before. And I remember there was at the time when she was born, I remember sitting on the couch, I was breastfeeding or whatever and there was some commercial. I don't even remember what the commercial was for, but it was like an office setting and like the work was piling up around them and it was really frantic. And I remember anytime that commercial would come out, I would just be like crawling out of my skin. I was having so much anxiety just watching that commercial and I was just, I couldn't like, you know, you just, My brain was racing and I couldn't. You're just crazy after you have a baby. Don't have a baby.
Trisha Paytas
So yeah, yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
But yeah. And so someone suggested that to me they knew a person and I actually did over the phone. This guy was in North Carolina. But I just put the phone on speaker and I just laid it next to my head and I laid on the bed and it definitely helped me. It definitely helped me to feel calmer and more relaxed.
Trisha Paytas
Is he like telling you stuff like talk? Like what is like affirmations in your head?
Aubrey's Mom
Like you think like. Because, you know, we always see stuff in movies like you were getting married. It's not. You just go into a very deep relaxation and time passes so quickly when you're doing it. You don't even realize, oh, it's been an hour or whatever.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Wow.
Trisha Paytas
I've never done it.
Aubrey's Mom
You don't feel it happening or working. You just feel better after.
Trisha Paytas
Have you had anxiety since?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Mmm, not really, unless somebody asked me something really stupid. But I barely get interviewed anymore.
Trisha Paytas
Wow. But are you, like, because you did the Jesse one, are you, like, open to doing, like, podcasts and stuff, or you just don't, like, love talking about Modern Family? I'm, like, so sick of it.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I mean, I'm open to talking about it. I mean, I think when it comes to, like, the lore of everything and how I got on the show, it's like, I've told people I feel like, a lot now. I feel like there's nothing more to be sad. But, yeah, I mean, I had to agree to, like, doing this podcast. Like, I just. I wanted to do it so badly. And there was, I think, another guy who also wanted to do a podcast with me, but that was before the Jesse thing. And I was like, I should hold out season. I feel more comfortable like this because it's like. It feels more like a conversation and whatnot, where it's like, when you're on red carpets, like, I mean, when you went to the Wicked premiere, do people interview you?
Trisha Paytas
Like, no. I was like, nobody. I just. I just took pictures and I was like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean, I thought that people would, like, interview, because. Yeah, I mean, it can be stressful, like, when it's like that on the red carpet. Cause that's when they get, like, heated, and they'll ask you things, and you have to respond really quick.
Trisha Paytas
Like, as a child, what was, like, the craziest thing you remember for someone asking you?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I remember this one time we were, like, at this charity event, and they asked me about, like, kids with AIDS in, like.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God.
Aubrey's Mom
Sorry.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And that's what the charity event was for. They're asking me about kids with AIDS in Africa. I'm pretty sure Pediatric aid.
Aubrey's Mom
Kids with Glazer's pediatric.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And they're like, what do you have to say about it?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You're like, 10. And I'm like, yeah, great. Yeah, girl, don't ask a little child how old. Yeah, it was like, nine or ten. Did you.
Trisha Paytas
Were you aware of what it was even?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't even remember what I said. And I was not aware of what that. Yeah, like, that was a crazy one.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, she. I mean, I would. I'd be off to the side, and I'd just see, like, the panic.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, God. Oh, boy.
Trisha Paytas
And then what do you say to her in that moment? Are you, like, it's fine. Everything's good. You did great. Like, what do you say? Or you're just like.
Aubrey's Mom
We just. We went through, like, a long phase, like, most of the years of, like, after. Like, a few things like, that happened, and it really tripped her out. Like, we said, you know what? You don't have to do the interviews. Anytime we do carpets, it was photos, and then we just run past the interviews.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because, yeah, like, I would literally run and, like, I would see that people would start to look at me, and I literally would just be like. And start running. Like.
Trisha Paytas
So that's good. You had, like, an out that is. Were you ever contractually obligated to give interviews? Like, did you ever have to go on, like, the talk shows, like, Tonight show, any of those?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Well, I was on Jimmy Kimmel once, but, no, I was never, like, obligated.
Aubrey's Mom
So they weren't interviewed. They had the kids on to do a sketch. I think it was leading up to the Emmys or something like that. So it's just promotional because it was the same network. Abc. Jimmy Kimmels on abc. And so they had the kids on. You know how they'll do a sketch at the beginning. And they had him and Guillermo, and they had the kids playing Family Feud, Boys against girls. Oh, and Guillermo was with the boys. And it was you and Sarah and Ariel or something like that. Just like three and three. And they tried to make it really. I think you were. It was the year before Robin Williams died. Because you met Robin Williams, right?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Robin Williams was young, so you were.
Aubrey's Mom
Probably, like, 7 years old. She's little. I remember your. Anyway, but. So they tried to make her question really easy, like, age appropriate for her. And they said, name a cartoon dog. But, you know, she's never played a game show before. She's seven. And she just froze. And I was. You didn't answer. You couldn't think of one. And you were like. I could tell you were like. And like, everybody, like, time stood still.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I'm like, oh, man. But you couldn't come up with one. I've been so anxious about that stuff ever since I was a kid. I mean, I think being put on.
Trisha Paytas
The spot as a child on TV is, like, insane, for sure. And at 7. And then the other kids are. You said are good, like, eight years older than you.
Aubrey's Mom
So it's like they're like 25, 26 now, I think.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. So that's. That's wild. So it's like a huge age difference, but they lump you together because you Guys are kids, and you're just like, well, we're not like, quite the same, so.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, that's.
Trisha Paytas
So you had to do the interviews. Did you do, like, a bunch of, like, magazine covers and stuff, too, when you were doing Modern Family magazines?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, we didn't. I mean, every year we had to do, like, an annual photo shoot for, like, just for the COVID and for billboards and stuff like that.
Trisha Paytas
And were you ever like, there's my billboard, like, taking pictures by it and.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I never really, like, you know, flaunted it as a kid.
Trisha Paytas
Really.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, not really.
Aubrey's Mom
Honestly, to. Like, after, like, nine years, like, you just. It just becomes normal. But, like, you see yourself everywhere all the time. Like, you're on a bus, you're on a billboard.
Trisha Paytas
Like, how cool.
Aubrey's Mom
I mean, I don't know if you ever got used to it, but I was like, yeah, whatever. Like, I never. I mean, you still would get excited at certain things. Like when we went to Disney World and you were on, like, the tram and stuff.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, that's cool. I don't even remember that. That's fine.
Trisha Paytas
That's why, like, that's. I couldn't even. That must be the most surreal thing to see that now. I'd be like, oh, my God, that's so cool.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, if I saw my studios, they.
Aubrey's Mom
Had lots of Modern Family stuff.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. They used to have it really big. They had, like, the really big ones on the side of the studio, the sets, and you're like, it's just normal.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And it's funny because it was so normal for me as a kid, but it's like, I'm wondering if I ever book something again or something happened with music. I can't even imagine what it would be like to do that again, where it's like, you're just seen all the time everywhere.
Trisha Paytas
Do you want to be that?
Aubrey's Mom
Do you want to be weird again?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I think I would most definitely do it again, but it would feel surreal. It would feel like the first time. Because, like, I've always said this too. Like, where it's like, they've been like, so you've been to the Emmys and you've done all this and, like, whatever. Like, you must be, like, so accomplished. And it's like, you don't realize what a big deal it is at that age.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So, like, if I was to ever be nominated for anything, like, ever again, it would. It would be such an emotional thing for me, which is like. Like, back then, it just wasn't at all.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It would mean so much more for me. Like, like, literally.
Aubrey's Mom
So she was five when she was in kindergarten. And the Emmys are. I don't know if they still are. Things change a little bit after the pandemic, but they were always on a Sunday. And she literally went to school the next Monday morning and she went. Did you go to the Emmys last night?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh.
Aubrey's Mom
And the kid was like, what is that? Yeah, but like, to her, that was just normal. You go to the Emmys every year.
Trisha Paytas
And you have nothing to compare it to. That is. That is so wild. So, yeah. You think now you'd like more of an appreciation, like, if you're getting nominated and have it twice happen in your life, Kind of like, I like Ed O'Neill, right? Like, he was in, like, Married With Children, so it's like, that was his big show. But then Modern Family, you two big shows in your lifetime, it's like, it's pretty amazing. So you would do another big TV show? Like, could you go into one right now? Like a huge show? I don't know what's out there. Bridgerton or something? Like, would you go into it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I love Bridgerton. And I haven't watched the new season. I'm still in the second season, but I go in, like, phases where I'll get hyper fixated on it for a couple days and then I won't, like, think about it for like a month. But no, literally, I love that show.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you haven't seen this third season. It's like the best season. It's so good. And they're filming the fourth right now. It's Benedict and it's.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God, I'm so excited.
Trisha Paytas
I love. Yeah. Would you go into, like a big, like, I know that they're all British, but, like, would you go into a big show like that?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Absolutely.
Trisha Paytas
You would?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I would love to do that. Yeah. That'd be great.
Trisha Paytas
So you're not like, okay, so. Because you were done with Modern Family, said when I was done, you were, like, kind of relieved it's over, but now you're like, no, I could do it again.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I could 100% do it again. Wow. Yeah. I'm so ready. I'm so ready. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. I really love that because I didn't know. I know you were, like, really focused on, like, your band and doing your own thing, which I think is really cool. But that'd be so amazing to see. And what other TV shows are you loving right now?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, well, I love Ted Lasso and Shrinking. Shrinking.
Aubrey's Mom
Ted Lasso. It's the same creators of Ted Lasso.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, what is it?
Aubrey's Mom
It's about these psychologists.
Trisha Paytas
Is it Jason Seagull?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes.
Trisha Paytas
Okay.
Aubrey's Mom
Harrison Ford.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I watched it.
Aubrey's Mom
It's so good. So adorable and good. Yes.
Trisha Paytas
It's comedy.
Aubrey's Mom
They remind you of grandpa a little.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Bit, but not grumpy.
Aubrey's Mom
My dad's not grumpy, but he kind of reminds me. Is this character just because, like, the age.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I know. I know what you mean.
Aubrey's Mom
And, oh, we watch Only Murders.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Only Murders.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, so good. The new season was amazing.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my gosh.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, those are. Yeah. That Selena Gomez is a good example of, like, a child star who, like, became this, like, really great adult star.
Aubrey's Mom
She's a producer on that show.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, is she?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, the three of them produce it as well.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God, that's so cool, like, to be able to do that.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I just saw, like, Hurt. Like, her and Benny Blanco are dating too, currently.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And it seems like they're so happy with one another, and I'm really happy for them. And I think Benny is, like, so talented, and he's like. He's made so many pop songs where I'm like, I can't believe it. So many iconic songs.
Trisha Paytas
And he seems so, like, relatable, too. You see him and you're kind of like, I could be friends with that person. Boss of, like, a genius in every single way. He was just in a Sexiest Man Alive. He got one of the titles and the new people. Yeah. I think the number one was John Krasinski. I think he won. I don't know what he's doing, but I'm like, that's kind of great. It's kind of a slang. I wanted Jonathan Bailey from British and Wicked. I was, like, hoping, oh, my gosh, he would get it. But who would you.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Who would you, like? What is it called? Want to be the Sexiest Man Alive? Like, who do you.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, yeah. Who do you think?
Aubrey's Mom
God, I don't know. I need a second to think.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You don't have White.
Aubrey's Mom
No.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Just kidding.
Aubrey's Mom
He didn't know Jeremy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
He should have been nominated this year. Timothy. Was he nominated?
Trisha Paytas
He wasn't either. Jeremy Ellen White should. Because he's doing the Bruce Springsteen. Like, he's very relevant right now. Not to say John Krasinski's not, but I'm just saying, like, that makes sense for him to be on it. All the Gladiator Boys. Oh, yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That made him really blow up. I mean, I feel like that should have. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
I'm kind of surprised he's not. I guess. I don't know. People. Everyone was a little upset. They're kind of like, what? It's kind of like, odd that they didn't have it. Oh, yeah, the celebrity crush is real. So you don't slept. You don't crush on celebrities, like, dude.
Aubrey's Mom
But I'm trying to think, there's gotta be someone I like right now.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And of course, I mean, everybody loves Jacob Elordi, I feel like, because of.
Trisha Paytas
Saltburn, and so good. And Barry Keoghan from Saltburn everyone really likes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I love Barry Keoghan. I love Barry Keoghan more than. What's his name? Jacob.
Aubrey's Mom
Lordy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Same.
Trisha Paytas
When I watch that. He's great. I like him.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know. Yeah, he's a great actor.
Trisha Paytas
Who would be your dream actor on actor if you were interviewing another actor?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, I don't know. I'm trying to think, like, somebody love, admire. I feel like I'd want to do another. I'm trying to think if I wanted to be somebody I know or somebody that I don't know.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, right. I guess sometimes it just depends.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Because I was gonna say maybe Emma.
Trisha Paytas
Emma.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Emma Watson, because she's, like, kind of like a close friend of mine or, like, mentor. And I would love to, like, I would love to interview her and, like.
Aubrey's Mom
That'D be a great interview.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God, she has so many wonderful things to say constantly. So. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, she's, like, so legendary, too, being part of so many, like, epic movies and stuff. Like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's amazing.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She's the sweetest.
Trisha Paytas
And you can just like, call her up and be like, hey.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Kind of. Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Wow, that's so cool. I love to hear that about her because she is such a megastar and she's, like, super, like, private. So you just don't know anyone that's, like, friends with her. So to hear that, she's, like, a really cool.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, for real. And I won't talk too much about.
Trisha Paytas
Her because she's a private person, but.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, she's been such a great mentor in my life.
Trisha Paytas
She's like. She's a great one. Another child star that turned into, like, you know, a huge success, which is, like, really cool. What's your dream mukbang?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, I don't know. Well, obviously we did a crumble one, but, like, I want to do, like, a crazy crumble one where I get, like, the big cookies, like, because we just did, like, the little ones and, like.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, we just got some sampler one.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you guys, don't you Never have the big ones.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, we get the big ones, like, one of them every now and then.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, you're on the diet right now. It's hard. It's like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, it's such a Thanksgiving Korean fried chicken. Like, something with that.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I'm like, the BBQ chicken. Have you had that before?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, we have.
Trisha Paytas
We really. It's like the big Korean. What is the sauce that was on there? It's like this big Korean, like, chicken. It's like a. It's in Northridge. Do you remember the sauce we had? They have, like, the kimchi and everything with it. It's really good. And it's right next to the two hands.
Aubrey's Mom
Do you.
Trisha Paytas
Have you been there? The Korean fried cheese place? So they're right next to each other. Yeah, but I used to. We supposedly used to live in Koreatown, and so I used to love the cream barbecue and stuff, but. Yeah. Do you guys. Do you cook ever?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
She doesn't like to cook very much. I like cooking sometimes, but we're both really good at baking.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's a talent. Like, measuring it and all that stuff.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You don't.
Aubrey's Mom
That's why cook said, like, I love cooking because you can just kind of eyeball it and. Oh, this baking.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You do that.
Aubrey's Mom
You.
Trisha Paytas
I tried to make a souffle pancake, and it was because I was like, I can't figure this out. Like, whipping it and all that stuff.
Aubrey's Mom
It's, like, too complicated science to, like. Too much air, too much salt. Not enough. This baking soda.
Trisha Paytas
No. Never works. So that's, like, a real talent. So crumbles. Your favorite. What about, like, food? Food? Like food.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, I love sushi, actually. Maybe that's dream mukbang. Like, sushi, spicy tuna, crispy rice. That is my, like, that's my favorite.
Trisha Paytas
There's one in. What's the one in Hollywood? It's like a pink box. Have you had that one?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I haven't. Oh, sugar fish.
Trisha Paytas
No, it's not sugar fresh, but it's like, it's a. Do you remember the name of it? Remember, we got it during quarantine. It was the crispy tuna one. Pink box.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
A.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. Not mine. He might be too much. He's a big sushi fan, too. I like sushi. I like it. But sugar fish is amazing. We don't have one out here.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, she loves it, and I could not get this girl to eat fish forever, and now she's like, no, I love it now.
Trisha Paytas
You love raw fish. It's like no, for real. Oh my gosh.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I would say, like, for like a mukbang. Specifically, like dream mukbang to like, film. Like, I feel like I want to do one of those big ones where there's like talkie dusted and it's like the ramen. And like, those look just like nikocado style. Like, those look disgusting and I want it. Yes. You know what I mean? I feel like I just have to do it once.
Trisha Paytas
The nikocado one is wild or jelly bean sweets. Right now with those giant burritos, she like, eats those.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know. And she gets like so much hate right now. And I'm like, dude, if she wants to. She's living her best life. She's eating and. Yeah, Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
I mean, I love it. I love a mukbang. I love that you guys do it together too. When cuz you were like, vlogging on Modern Family, you were like eating a baked potato or something in one of the food vlogs.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
The food on set for lunch.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Lunch at work.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
I mean, it did look good. I looked for.
Aubrey's Mom
I kind of forgot that was like your go to lunch for lunch.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
The baked potato. It was either that or a slice of cheese pizza. I know.
Aubrey's Mom
It's our grilled cheese.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. I got sick of the grilled cheeses fast.
Aubrey's Mom
Which is it gonna be?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It was the pizza, though.
Trisha Paytas
What?
Aubrey's Mom
Adore baked potatoes.
Trisha Paytas
That's like the dream life. I mean, I know it's like you didn't get like a regular childhood, but like, how fun I might have food. Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, there's always food.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. We had like a whole room for craft services where it was like, we.
Aubrey's Mom
Had really, really good crafty. And I didn't even really, really realize how good it was until I booked some jobs on other shows like co stars, guest stars, or whatever.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
And I can't remember what show it was, but it was also. It was a sitcom. And their craft service was like a.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Closet with like a couple granola bars.
Aubrey's Mom
And like some old cupcakes that someone brought.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I was like, like, catering. It felt like every day.
Trisha Paytas
Crap.
Aubrey's Mom
I'm like, what? I'm like, where's like the 500 kinds of.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
We had like an open fridge and.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, freezer full of popsicle and ice cream bars.
Trisha Paytas
You're like, this is not three kinds.
Aubrey's Mom
Of bacon and five kinds of eggs. And then we would get like, really great stuff, like catered in every day, like Tito's Tacos, empanadas, Poke bars. We have a salad bar every morning.
Trisha Paytas
Make me Hungry.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, literally. Oh, now I'm hungry.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I know. And you're like, I love my baby carrots. I know. That's so. And then you're done with that in December, Then you can just go back to eating December.
Aubrey's Mom
I started it yesterday, so December 12th will be my last.
Trisha Paytas
Wait, Thanksgiving, too? You're gonna just.
Aubrey's Mom
We don't do a big Thanksgiving usually, so. But even if we do, like, I'm fine. We just eat turkey and vegetables.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. It's kind of a healthy meal. When you want. Think about Thanksgiving. It's kind of like you said, just turkey, and unless you eat all mashed potatoes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That's what I want. No, I literally love mashed potatoes. Somebody criticized me the other day for saying that my favorite thing at Thanksgiving was mashed potatoes. And I was like, yeah, I know. What are you literally lame? Like, what do you mean?
Trisha Paytas
Was it on Reddit? Don't read Reddit. Are you still reading it now on Reddit?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It was one. No, it was one of my other actor friends, and I was like, I can't believe he's hating on me for this right now.
Aubrey's Mom
She hated. Oh, I.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
That's. Yeah, yeah, Isaiah. Sorry.
Aubrey's Mom
But she did. She hated mashed potatoes, and she was a kid. I could not get her to eat.
Trisha Paytas
Mashed potatoes is the best. But you know what? My daughters don't like it either. And I'm like, but it's so soft and creamy. They love French fries, but not potatoes. One day they'll like it best. Mashed potatoes are kfc, in my opinion. I love a KFC mashed potato. I mean, we make our own, but we love them.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
KFC mashed potatoes. I don't think.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God, they're so good.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Okay. It's not.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't eat it very often, but when you want it, it's like, watch out.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey's Mom
Because there's nothing else like it.
Trisha Paytas
And it's so horrible and greasy and.
Aubrey's Mom
Really not that good. But it's so good.
Trisha Paytas
I did get a little sick. We had it Sunday night for the first day.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God.
Trisha Paytas
I used to eat it every day, though, and, like, never get sick. And then I had. We had it Sunday night, and I got, like, actually kind of sick from it because I just like to eat the skin off the chicken. It's so, like, so good.
Aubrey's Mom
In one cheese. Yes.
Trisha Paytas
And it's, like, crispy. It's so amazing.
Aubrey's Mom
I'm sure you've had Korean fried chicken, right?
Trisha Paytas
Yes. There was one we had at the mall, the Korea. The Korean chicken. That you love.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, yeah.
Trisha Paytas
I forgot what it's called, but yeah, we used to go over there all the time. They had the big crispy chicken. Which one did you say this is?
Aubrey's Mom
I can't remember what street, but it's called Kyochan Chicken wings. It's a chain from Korea and it's the only. And you. They have a few different flavors, but you. The best one is the honey wings.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I haven't had honey wings.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
They're amazing.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't know what kind of Korean.
Trisha Paytas
Fried chicken is amazing.
Aubrey's Mom
Moist and like hot on the inside. And then it's crunchy and sweet and salty on the outside. The. Oh, God, I'm just.
Trisha Paytas
How do they do that? How do they make it so juicy? But also like you said, really crispy. Well done on the outside, the way they dredge it.
Aubrey's Mom
Because Slav, our friends, the dad of the family, he tried to recreate it and he said it was such a pain. He's like, it was so much work just to make it home.
Trisha Paytas
I can't even imagine. Yeah. Oh, when we lived on there, I lived in New Morning at the Grove. He was in Koreatown. But we used to like always go to that like little. It was Galleria, that mall. And it was like so good. Like the chicken there, it was like amazing. And then that's when I first had the fried cheese was at the. It was like Mayungrong hot dog. And it was really, really good. And they had.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh yeah, those Korean corn dogs with the potato on the outside. I have one of those last week.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, those are my favorite. I think I could have done like 50. Have you ever done those for a mukbang?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, because like, we won't just like film. Like, we like try foods that we've never like had before. Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
We're just going, ooh, what's that? Let's try that. And we'll just eat that.
Trisha Paytas
That's fun. So something like, you've never review. Have you ever had uni?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Uni?
Trisha Paytas
I still haven't had like a sea urchin.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, no, I'm scared of that.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that's the one everyone like hates. He loves it. But we just had someone on here that's like, oh, I hate it. But I'm like, that's like his favorite. Like you can find quite people who love it. Love it. Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
She hasn't had an oyster, like a raw oyster yet.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You're also scared to try that.
Trisha Paytas
I haven't either.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
There's just.
Aubrey's Mom
I. There's a video of me eating One somewhere. And, like, I guess I get, like. And it was maybe the third time. Cause I really believe in keep trying stuff. Cause you eventually can develop a taste for stuff. But I have tried oysters three or four times now, and I'm like, oh, it tastes like a mouthful of snotty snot. Of, like, chewy snot.
Trisha Paytas
That's his favorite food.
Aubrey's Mom
Chewy snot?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, like, chewy snack.
Aubrey's Mom
But I'm with you.
Trisha Paytas
It tastes like I'm drinking the ocean. I'm like, what?
Aubrey's Mom
And then it's, oh, you gotta put hot sauce and everything. I'm like, I have to kill the taste with something else. Why am I eating it?
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, it's the worst. You have to, like, slide it down your throat. Like, everything about it is.
Aubrey's Mom
It is like you got a mouthful of snot.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But it's chewy like this.
Aubrey's Mom
But the consistency is, like, rubbery and chewy and, like, it's awful.
Trisha Paytas
It really is. People. He goes crazy for an oyster.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
People go, feral, bro.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. Going to Mastro's, getting some oysters. It's like, they're all you. What's a crazy food you guys want to try? Ooh, that you haven't.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Dubai chocolate. Have you tried that yet? We haven't had it yet. I want to find it.
Trisha Paytas
Okay. Baskin Robbins, I think, that has the Dubai chocolate ice cream bars. Have you seen it on TikTok?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No. Now I need to try this two days ago.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, gosh. What is her name? Oh, there's a really popular mukbanger. I can't think of her name, but she just tried it, and it's like, the ice cream bar, and it's like, the green. I want to try it so bad. I can't find him either.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I don't know where people are in New York. I know, like, a couple places have the Dubai chocolate in New York.
Aubrey's Mom
Last we were in New York, we talked about. We just didn't have enough time.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know some people are making them on their own, but it's like, no. I feel like it wouldn't be, like, the true experience.
Trisha Paytas
There's one at OC called Chimney Cakes. They make, like, cute little ice creams, and they have it. And they were supposed to send me some, but they, like, never did. So I was like, maybe I'll make a. I know I'm like, a trip down.
Aubrey's Mom
No, thanks.
Trisha Paytas
Chimney Cakes. They didn't send it to us. No, but that one would be, because what's in it? What's the green stuff?
Aubrey's Mom
Pistachio.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, that Would be really good.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And then what is the stuff called? It's like the crunchy stuff.
Aubrey's Mom
Isn't it like filo or something?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, it's filo, I think.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I don't even know what that is.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's a Middle Eastern thing.
Trisha Paytas
I never had it. No?
Aubrey's Mom
What do you like buttery things?
Trisha Paytas
Oh, I love buttery things.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Be like nuts and honey.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey's Mom
Okay, so you would love it then.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I mean.
Trisha Paytas
Have I had it? No.
Aubrey's Mom
Paper thin, buttery pastry and they do layers of like honey. I mean it's literally like paper thin. And then honey with honey and butter mixture with different nuts. So sometimes it's like walnuts or sometimes it's pistachio. The nuts.
Trisha Paytas
Then the.
Aubrey's Mom
They pour like this butter honey over it. Then another layer pour and it's just like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God.
Aubrey's Mom
And it's so crunchy.
Trisha Paytas
Just like right down. Oh, my gosh. I love a dessert. Is it sweet or is it savory?
Aubrey's Mom
It's sweet, but it's a little salty too because it's the butter and honey together. Have you ever just had toast with butter and then you put honey on it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It's like that but better, but with pastry.
Aubrey's Mom
Like thin, thin, crunchy pastry, though. It is outrageous.
Trisha Paytas
Any dessert like that I would try. Have you ever tried a crepe cake? Cake?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yes. I just had one. I made a little mukbang with my friend just for fun. I didn't even post it, but I had a crepe cake in it.
Trisha Paytas
It's so good. What kind was. It was like a matcha. Was it rainbow? Like, what was it?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It was just a plain, like vanilla one, But I thoroughly enjoyed. I've had a rainbow one too, and those are fantastic.
Trisha Paytas
There's also a bakery near you guys for hours. Have you ever seen the show Hacks? Do you watch Hacks?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No.
Aubrey's Mom
Oh, I do. I love it.
Trisha Paytas
So good. Right there. They have this, like, in what? I think it's the season three. They start off with like a coconut cake. Have you had that? The one that Tom Cruise sends everybody?
Aubrey's Mom
It's a bakery, but it's.
Trisha Paytas
You never. Oh, you have to have it. Yeah, we've had it so good. It's one of my favorite.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Bring it over maybe? Yeah, I think so.
Trisha Paytas
Really?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my God, that's so bougie.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, here's a cake. That bakery is so lucky that that happened to them.
Trisha Paytas
Right?
Aubrey's Mom
They're just a mom and pop place. Have you ever been there?
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, it's like mom and pop place.
Aubrey's Mom
And like, if you go There, depending if it's like that time of the year. Like, because now they sell on Gold Belly because they're so famous for the.
Trisha Paytas
Cake because of Tom Cruise.
Aubrey's Mom
And you go there, like, you'll see all the Gold Belly boxes, like, piled.
Trisha Paytas
Up because they're getting ready to ship them out. So smart. Love Gold Belly, too. Shout out Gold Belly.
Aubrey's Mom
You know, Gold Belly is. You can order, like, anything, like, famous food.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Really. Oh, my gosh.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Would they have this Dubai.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
Sent to you maybe.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, my gosh. I love it. I mean, honestly, talking about food like, this is my favorite thing in the whole world because it's my happiness. It's the thing that brings me most joy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
It really is. For me.
Trisha Paytas
It's food, crocheting, playing music. Is October the band playing anywhere coming up?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, not as of current, but yeah. I wish. Yeah, we're practicing. We added a new band member recently. We just added a keyboardist.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, wow.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But yeah, over the summer, we just didn't really practice a lot because I was doing theater stuff and really locking in on that.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah. Because they're all high school students and now I'm not in school, so I'm not as busy. But the rest of them, you know, college applications, they want to get into Berklee School of Music and things like that. We all do different things.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. This is like the age in life where people just, like, separate, go their own ways and got to figure out if you're going to see each other if you're not, for sure.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
So it's like, I think after next year, like, we probably won't play in a band together. So that's why I'm really focusing on doing my own music.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah. Any plans coming up for the holidays?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
For the holidays? Not really because, well, she's on her dive for Thanksgiving.
Aubrey's Mom
Well, we had kind of maybe thought we were going to go to Japan.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But then we thought about it. We wanted to go to Disneyland there. And I know you really love Disneyland.
Trisha Paytas
Tokyo at sea.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah.
Trisha Paytas
Have you guys been?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No. Have you been?
Trisha Paytas
No, I'm. That is so weird. Most gonna test this. I literally told him yesterday.
Aubrey's Mom
Really?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God.
Trisha Paytas
I show them all the tick tocks of the, like, little alien mochi.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I want them so bad. Oh, my God. Oh, wait.
Trisha Paytas
Are you guys thinking about going this year still?
Aubrey's Mom
Maybe in, like, the spring maybe, or even next spring or next fall, because, you know, you don't want to go during the summer.
Trisha Paytas
That's what I heard.
Aubrey's Mom
Impressively hot.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Like, trust me.
Aubrey's Mom
And. And then it can snow and stuff in the window. So, like, spring or fall? Yeah, spring is like the peak. Peak travel.
Trisha Paytas
Cherry blossom.
Aubrey's Mom
So, like, it's expensive. The airfare is expensive. It's super. Because Japan's already crowded, but it's even doubly crowded. And I don't know if you know this about, like, Disney over there. Like, they don't have the reservation system and stuff. Like, we do. Literally, people will get up at, like, five in the morning and wait in a line to get through the front gate. Oh, my God.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Wait, so would you be doing that if we got there?
Aubrey's Mom
Like, I don't think you have a choice.
Trisha Paytas
You were a modern family. You should be able to get there at, like, front of the line.
Aubrey's Mom
You wouldn't say. No, they don't. The glory days of the VIP guides are.
Trisha Paytas
Wait.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah. We could talk about. Yeah. So basically, like, growing up, since I worked for Disney, they gave me a free guide every single time that I went. And we basically just went through the exit of all the rides and just got on immediately.
Trisha Paytas
So did you think also everybody just did that? Were you ever.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I don't think so. You restore. Okay.
Trisha Paytas
You're like, this is really special.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I knew that. I was really lucky for that.
Trisha Paytas
Oh.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And now I. We have a season pass and we just go all the time now.
Trisha Paytas
So have you waited in line or.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Do you still do vip? We do.
Aubrey's Mom
We buy the Lightning lane.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But still you gotta wait in reserve and plot.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, that's crazy, though. I feel like once you work for Disney, they should just give you lifetime. VIP is like. I feel like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I feel like. Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
I don't understand, like, how that. I mean, honestly, like, we just know what we got and everything. But, like, so. Cause, you know, there's like.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You can.
Aubrey's Mom
Anybody can buy a VIP guide.
Trisha Paytas
Right.
Aubrey's Mom
So but the vip, like, I can't remember. They call it something like the celebrity treatment or whatever.
Trisha Paytas
Right.
Aubrey's Mom
That's even, like, a step above. Because when you are just, like, a civilian, you. You hire a VIP guide, you don't.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
You just go through a lightning lane.
Aubrey's Mom
Or help you just get your reservations and stuff.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, I could be a guide at that point. Like, literally.
Aubrey's Mom
Right, Right.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
I know my way around Disneyland, like, so well.
Trisha Paytas
You're like, I don't need it.
Aubrey's Mom
But if you are, like, considered, you know, like a recognizable person.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey's Mom
They don't want you waiting in lines, even, like a short line, because you're considered a security risk because crowds can gather and, you know, and so, like, so she had it the whole time. She Was on the show as soon as the show is over, done.
Trisha Paytas
Really.
Aubrey's Mom
But then I'm like, you know people who are super famous but who aren't on ABC Disney shows, like, do they.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Have to pay for it or does.
Aubrey's Mom
Like, Disney provide it?
Trisha Paytas
I think they are really strict. I talked to a few other people that work with.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God. You know who I saw at Disneyland once? James Charles. Oh, isn't that so funny? I know. I just want. I felt like saying that. No, literally, I don't know if he had a guide or anything. I think he was just there, like, with his chilling. No, literally, I was, like, walking, like, you know, like New Orleans Square.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
And I, like, looked to my ride of pirates and I'm like, why did I just see James try? Did you go up to him? No, because I didn't want to bother him.
Trisha Paytas
You don't go up to celebrities even though you are a celebrity.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Maybe if I, like, really, really like them. But I just was like, I'm going to let J. James B. And do his thing.
Trisha Paytas
Wow.
Aubrey's Mom
I've ever seen anyone famous at Disneyland.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Really?
Trisha Paytas
I've seen John Stamos bunches of times. Like, he's literally my friend.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Saw Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan together once at the Florida one. Yeah. Disney World. Oh, Disney World.
Trisha Paytas
I actually see. I've seen, like, quite a few celebrities. I know Courtney and Travis go there, but Tokyo Disney is the dream. I also want to go to Hong Kong. Disney.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Really small.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you've been to that one?
Aubrey's Mom
No, but, you know, I was in Hong Kong. This is pre pandemic. This is when she was a toddler, but. And I. I kind of wanted to go, but the guy who was. I was there doing comedy shows, and the guy who was kind of my host there, he was like, yeah, me, if you want to go. Like, we can make it happen. He's like, I think since you've been to Disneyland and Disney World so many times, you'll be disappointed because it's really small.
Trisha Paytas
Interesting. That was how many years you said, like 15 years ago. So over 10 years ago because they built an art arendelle. Now I've seen. That's what I've seen on Tick Tock. So that's, like, the reason I want to go. But it does. It does look smaller. Tokyo is bigger. I know. Tokyo's also really cheap. They're Disney over there. Like, the food is cheap. The food is cheap.
Aubrey's Mom
The dollar is really strong over there right now.
Trisha Paytas
That's what I would say.
Aubrey's Mom
We should go before, like, yeah. The whole economy is ruined. I don't.
Trisha Paytas
I know, right? Just in case. Go. Right now, I'm like, book a ticket tomorrow. Have you been to. Have you guys been to Japan?
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I've never been, so I'm really.
Aubrey's Mom
Excited for that trip.
Trisha Paytas
That'd be so funny. Yeah. A lot of people are over there right now, and I'm like, oh, that looks. I know.
Aubrey's Mom
Everybody wants. Last year, they had, like, record tourism, and the Japanese people were literally like, stop.
Trisha Paytas
Were they over it?
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, because it was just like. Because, you know, everybody's freaking rude, like, compared to Japanese people. They go there, they're disrespectful of the culture, and I hate that.
Trisha Paytas
Yeah, I guess. I know it gets, like, overcrowded, especially now. Everyone's, like, going there. I was like, there is a weird surgeons of it.
Aubrey's Mom
But yeah, we want to go to Korea next year. We got. Oh, and we might. Oh, I think we're going to go to Dominica in.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, yeah, we're going to go for, like, a fun yoga retreat thingy, I think. February, April.
Trisha Paytas
Oh, you have a lot of trips coming up then.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Yeah, we need to get to New York.
Aubrey's Mom
There's so many shows we want to see in New York right now. We're dying.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Oh, my God. We have to go to New York.
Trisha Paytas
Same. We're going to New York this next month. And I'm like, oh, my God. I want to see everything. I want to see Romeo and Juliet with Rachel Zegler. Barbie Ferreira is in a show right now. I want to go see her.
Aubrey's Mom
Gypsy.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
Charlie D'Amelio is in a show right now. She's in Juliet.
Trisha Paytas
Yes.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
But I think she's ensemble.
Trisha Paytas
But she's killing it, people. Oh, she's like, just ensemble. I was like, oh, she's kind of killing it in there, though.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
No, I bet she's killing. I mean, she's a professional dancer. I mean, that's what she does. So.
Aubrey's Mom
Yeah, musical. My friend just saw it, like, literally a couple nights ago called Swept Away. Have you heard about that?
Trisha Paytas
No.
Aubrey's Mom
Supposed to be amazing. She said it was great.
Trisha Paytas
What. What is that one about?
Aubrey's Mom
I don't even know what it's about, but it's very.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
There's Asian people in it.
Aubrey's Mom
I think it's a new musical, though, and she's, like, in the act.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons
