I think you need to watch more David vlogs because I think there is way more problematic stuff in these vlogs than just the milk.

We waited for you because me and my sister talking about it, I was like, I don't know if we're gonna get any of this right. And I feel like I'm very sensitive because, like, I'm. I. I see everything so surface level, and so I'm not on that side of Tick Tock. And then I started getting on the side to talk and I was like, oh, my God. Then I started hearing the whole. Some crazy propaganda, and maybe it's not crazy, maybe it's real. And I was like, okay, I don't. I don't really know. So we'll wait for Oscar the Brain.

Oh, that's a lot of pressure, and I'm scared.

Yeah. Because I feel like it's pretty delicate. People are sensitive about it. It's.

It is layered. So I'm sure everyone has seen by now Sydney Sweeney's American Eagle gene ad. And there's, I guess it is kind of layered. So like the first thing is the, the sexualized nature of it. And the second thing is like the weird racial undertones.

Okay. So that, that part I didn't know fully about. So that's what I need to know.

Yeah. So it has this weird double edged sword to it. But the ad itself. Okay. My first reaction, seeing the ad again, the sexualized thing, I think is the most apparent. And at first, because that's what the first video I saw like starts on her chest and she goes, no, like up here. And I'm like, I think for me, my thing immediately was. And I put this more on American Eagle, to be honest, because it's like as the talent, you kind of sign off on it. Yes. But it's the brands, like creative and everything. So here with that, I'm like, why are you guys, if you're making a product that's supposed to sell to women, why are you sexualizing her when men aren't going to be the one buying these jeans? Like, it's the Sydney jean that has a butterfly on the butt. Like, it's not for men. The soap I understood because it's a man bath product. So it made sense why she, you know, was in the little genie outfit and had the CNN's bath bar or whatever. But I'm like, why are you guys making it so sexual when she's supposed to be selling it to women and she can sell the woman because she does like lanage and she does like these feet. More female brands and she does it like the normal girl next door.

So I was like, why are you guys making her be making it be about her boobs and her body or whatever especially also too, in the context that she's playing like a prolific female boxer in her next movie, like, wouldn't have been more empowering to like lean into that. And then the weird thing is too that like the whole point of the collaboration is the proceeds go to support domestic abuse. So why are you making the campaign so sexual when it's supposed to be supporting victims of domestic violence? Because in the press release it says Sydney's really passionate about this. Cause so why are you as the brand not focusing on that and instead of focusing on her body, like, that is so weird to me.

Yeah. When I first thought I was thinking it was like sexy, like guests back in the day, like Anna Nicole. So I was like, okay. So I was thinking of like, they're trying to bring back old school sex, like Marilyn Monroe or something, you know? But I get what you're saying.

Yeah. I'm like, it's American Eagles also is like such a young, like, brand as well. Yeah. Like, the last campaign I saw from American Eagle was the summer I turned pretty. And they were just like on the beach looking cute in jeans. You know what I mean? Like, it wasn't anything so, like, radical.

So I was like, this is already kind of weird to me. I mean, it just doesn't fit. Like, the message, the products, the presentation, none of it aligns. Like, this is weird.

Yeah, then it gets into like, the focus on like, Sydney Sweeney has great genes. And it is like they really played into, like, the genes spelled G E, N E S versus jeans. J, E, A, N, S. Like, there's one video or one photo where, like, Sydney has, like, jeans meaning denim, like crossed out or has jeans genealogy crossed out and then replaced with like, jeans for denim. So, like, they're really leaning into that.

Whoa, that is like, super intellectual. That's way above my head.

Yeah, it's this whole thing called, like, eugenics, which plays into like, basically people like, the best aesthetics and best genes, like, having children together to keep like this bloodline going or whatever.

And they were showing that in the ad.

That's kind of what it like, is playing into because it's like the great jeans. I have great jeans. Mine are blue. Her eyes. She's white, blonde, blue eyes. So when you have an ad and you're saying this girl, this white blonde eye, this white, blonde, blue eyed girl.

It plays into that in this political climate. It's like, oh, that's not.

Yeah. Especially because, like, everyone like that is like, yeah, got it.

Yeah. So then that was also another thing that got people, like, really upset too. So it was like those two things as well. And then it also played into, like, it also had parallels to the Calvin Klein ad from 1980 from Brooke Shields where she was like, really sexualized and she was only 15 at the time.

And like Brooke Shields. Let's talk about, like, how she was like, object objected a lot when.

But she was a minor when that was happening.

Brooke. Yeah, she was 15 when she was shooting the sexy Calvin Klein ad. And the way that this one was shot was like, parallel to that too. So then people were like, why are you paralleling an ad that Was like, exploiting a minor.

I remember the Brook Shields one. And, like, yeah, it was so gross. And like, no. On the people's part, not her part. Yeah, so I get that.

I think the other two are, like, more sound arguments. Especially, like, the sexualizing thing. Especially, like, you're marketing towards girls and supporting domestic. 100 of the proceeds are supposed to go to domestic abuse. Like, why are you making it so sexy?

And then the eugenics, I think if they lean so heavy into, like, the two forms of spelling gene, like, the two definitions, that I'm like, weird. So. Yeah, it just doesn't. It's like, why'd you have to do all that? And then what really got me, though, is the senior vice president of American Eagle posted about. Posted about the ad on her LinkedIn and it went viral.

Oh, no. Was this a bad one? Is, like, Abercrombie, like, it was pretty rough. So these CEOs are kind of dumb, huh? I was like, they never give a good statement.

I was like, first of all, it was the way that it was written. Like, everyone pretty much comes to consensus that it was like, chat gbt. Because it was a lot of, like, emojis and, like, check marks. Like, the way that it was written is formatted the same. Same.

And Ashley Shapiro, I believe is her name. And it wrote. She wrote on the. On her LinkedIn. During a Zoom call with Sydney, we asked a question. How far do you want to push it? And her. Sweeney's response was immediate and exactly what the brand was hoping for. Let's push it. I'm game. The team's reaction was just as swift. Our response, challenge accepted. And the goal was to go bigger than ever before. She said, I just. It was fueled by a desire to stretch beyond anything we had done before. The ideas kept building, the stunts topping themselves. The American Eagle Outfitters, Inc. Team and partners who brought this campaign to life poured themselves into it with. With a more is more energy. You created more than a campaign. You created a moment in culture and styled every moment with a wink. So you can tell they just wanted it to be as over the top as possible. They had billboards. They had the sphere. They had filters.

Yeah, I guess so. They went, like, full, like, activation with it. Like, it wasn't just a little campaign. It was like they had the billboards in Times Square. They created, like, an AI filter where you can try on the jeans and stuff.

But, yeah, so you can tell that they just wanted to be, like, a Viral moment. But I'm like, as a brand and like, also at the stock for American eagle jumped 16 after this, but.

It didn't, but it's one of those things where it's like. In the article I read that it's like a typical, what they call meme stock behavior, which is a surge after a viral thing, but it doesn't, like, last.

But I'm like, as a company, like, yeah, rage baiting works in, like, the short term, but, like, does it work in the long?

That is crazy when you think about that. It's like trolling, literally.

Eagle, they're just such a big brand. However, I guess they're not as big as they once were. Like, American Eagle used to be that brand. First of all, I love how she just, like, blamed Cindy Sweeney. It's like, she's your star.

First of all, these things, as, you know, they're shot a year in advance. So it's like she doesn't even have, like, she can't even take the criticism of, like, doing too many brand deals and, like, being sexy in them.

And then pivot because she saw she shot all stuff a year ago. You know, the think tanks that it goes through to have a campaign of this scale, it's like, goes through hundreds of people.

Because marketing people, like, they, like, literally in you take courses to understand the psychology of how to market. Like, you learn, like, what colors, what words, like what fonts. Like, marketing, it's so, so, so specific. And it is such like a. A study because you have to know exactly, like, what works, what catches people's eyes, what imagery evokes a mood. So it's like, if you have. If you're that high up in like, a working marketing for like, a big company like that, you're not stupid, you.

Know, And I would have given them the benefit of the doubt to be like, maybe they didn't know. It's Controversial as it was. Like, I would give them that benefit of the doubt if the. If the CEO, like, we want to push as far as we can. So you just, like, admitted to, like, rage, baby. That's kind of crazy because, like, you know, there's some bad ideas that just miss. But this was maybe a little more intentional. I mean, we'll probably see it more. We see it a lot with, like. Like, Wendy's. Remember, they're rage baiting, like, Katy Perry. You know, I feel like they just love. Companies love to do this. I wonder if they, like, the companies know or Astronomer with, like, Gwyneth Patcho. I wonder if they, like, know that they're like, do you know what I mean? Like, okay, like, right. We saw the HBO people, like, Aquaman, you know, Trishella, stuff like that. But it's like, probably like a gen zer, like, that's in there, and they're like, we're gonna do this. It's, like, fun. No, no, but like, just in general, like, yeah, not specific to Michaela. I'm saying, like, in general, like, it is possible people are forgetting you can.

Lose weight, you know, naturally.

Yeah, like, I feel like we've all forgotten that. Yes, it is. It is possible people. You know, I know.

I. I'm with you because I'm actually still very anti JLP one now that I can actually take it. I still kind of am anti that because, like, I just am like, I don't want to do it. And I was like, so now I'm like really trying to portion control myself. I'm like, why don't I just like, eat half on my own? If everyone's like, oh, you only in half of what you would order, then let me just try and do this. And so far it's been working with all grand yesterday. I'm like, you know what, I'm just gonna have half of this order and it kind of works.

Yeah. Like, it's like very possible, like, you know, to just track your cat, like Lizzo was saying, you know, like you track your calories and you're just like on top of it or whatever. Like GLP ones are just a tool especially I think for people who like, struggle with like certain, like binge eating stuff or whatever. You know what I mean?

Or pcos. Yeah.

Like, like metabolism is such a genetic thing as well, you know, or like thyroid issues. You know, there's so many different, like, genetic reasons why people struggle losing weight even if they do like diet and stuff.

So it's just like a tool for some people. And yes, it is more accessible now. And obviously if you can afford, like people who can afford like proper Ozempic and stuff probably are using it. But if someone says they're doing it naturally, I'm like, okay, T. Like we don't need to investigate and be like, no, like, it is possible. It is possible.

I think it's just because it is so common. Everyone's losing weight now, but. But it, I don't want to say inspires, but you do see everyone getting seen. You're like, well, I probably could try and like, watch what I eat a little better too. So I get it.

Yeah, it is. I don't know. But then it's also Again. And get into like, the ouroboros, the snake eating stuff. It's like, okay, you. Not again, not specific to Michaela, just in like, a general thing. Like when people are like. Or someone gains weight. Like, if someone's thin, they gain weight, then they get shamed for gaining weight, and then they lose weight. And some people say that, like, oh, yeah, I did use a GLP1. Then people are mad at them for using GLP1. But then you are mad at them for getting weight. Or then some people say, oh, no, I lost weight naturally. But then you're mad at them for thinking that they're lying about, like, you can't win. You cannot.

That's why I gave up on anything. Like, I don't care what he wants. Like, no matter what, you can't win.

And Michaela, like, I mean, to me, she looks good. Like, you know, I don't know, whatever. Some people say that the gaunt face from GLP ones, like, she looks like she lost it naturally to me. Me, like, she looks like, proportionate. She looks like she has her muscle mass. You know, Again, what I hear is like, people say they lose their muscle mass, people get frail, whatever. She looks still healthy and strong.

Yeah. She doesn't look, like, amazing. Yeah. And like, 60 pounds is a big amount of weight, but it is super possible to lose naturally. Especially if, like, again, you have resources. Again, not saying she did, but, like, because she talked about, like, the different recipes. She talked about her burger bowl that she made.

I watched it and it looked pretty good. Like, I make that too.

Okay. It just is possible. So this. I did feel for the girl because I'm like, yeah. And if anyone says they lose a naturally. Okay work, I'm not like, actually, no. You know what I mean?

Like, I know, I know. That was the crazy thing too, when, like, Lizzo was here and everyone's like, she admits this and it's like, she didn't. People really are obsessed. And it's just like. And she. Again, this is a perfect example too, where it's like, she's like, I'm happy at this weight now. She's not like, super skinny. You know what I mean? She's like, lost it it a natural way slowly over time. So I was just like, it is. I guess people just don't want to hear it. But I mean, every big person I know that's lost weight, they always say there's like a moment. There's like a moment that they're like, you know what? I'm just gonna Change the way I eat or way I look at food and it's like, it happens. It switches and people. You did yours naturally while you were depressed?

Yeah, I was depressed. I was out for revenge. Oh, God. Prescribed Adderall. It was like a perfect storm of things. Yeah.

Different than kind of.

But is depression natural? Yeah, it's nature.

Yeah, kind of. Right. It's your chemicals in your brain and stuff, so. Yeah. Yeah. Because a lot of it's genetic, like depression. Yeah. I mean, I don't want to. I'm not a medical professional.

But like, if it runs in your family, like if you're medically, you know, this pre. Disposition for it. That's the right word, but yeah. So kind of natural. Yeah.

Ask for help if you're depressed. My doctor told me, he's like, are you okay? They make you. When you go to your postpartum apartment thing, they like ask you on a scale, like 0 to 10, like, how you're feeling, like, do you want to hurt yourself? Do you want this? I'm like, oh my God. I'm like, what if I put 10? And he's like, oh, you know, here, you can go ask this person. This person, he's really great. He's giving me resources.

I mean, that's good.

But I asked him, what if I put it down? Sometimes you're scared. I'm like, I'm gonna put zero because what if they just take me away? But he's like, no, we give you like, resources. And I was like, okay, I love that so much. Yeah, so call your resources. I hope these have hotlines. They have hotlines now, right?

Yeah. I think for Sydney Sweeney, I know her thing was supporting the domestic abuse hotline too. So yeah, I think there's like, com. Because I know the. The gay hotline, I think was shut down by the government, but there's still other companies.

You know, like Trevor Project that are running them in trans lifeline and stuff. So. Yeah.

Cuz I. I started going to therapy before I even knew like, what my Parents had me in therapy in, like, third grade or fourth grade before I even knew, like, what it was. And then C, like, anxiety disorder and what's it called? I was agoraphobic, so. And again, I didn't know I was. And they didn't tell me. I was like. They just like, oh, we're just gonna go talk to this lady.

You don't want to leave the house?

Yeah, I couldn't leave the house.

That is a tough one. I wonder how they knew, like, there was an issue because, like, I never want to leave the house. But maybe I was agoraphobic. I don't know.

I think I got, like, physically sick.

Like, to leave the house.

Yeah. They were so anxious that I would, like, be physically sick. Yeah. But I could go. I could only go to, like, places I knew I could go to, like, my house or relative's house, or I could go to school, but I couldn't go to, like, a camp or something, you know?

And it would, like, physically make you.

Yeah. Or like, the movies or the mall or restaurants. Yeah.

Yeah, luckily, I think. I feel like when you're a kid, it probably is a little bit easier, I would imagine, to, like, you know. Yeah.

I honestly don't. Like, I remember going to therapy, but I don't remember, like, just talking about it maybe helped. Yeah. I don't remember, like, talking specifically about it. The only memories I have, I remember she would talk to me about and, like, aquatic animals, like manatees and whales.

She had a therapist available to anyone that worked for her for, like, that whole amount of time, as she should.

I think anything, any job is stressful.
