My Latino ancestry has always been very, very important to me growing up, even though I do am like a considered a white Latino obviously and I recognize that. But like culturally, you know, being Cuban, being Peruvian has always been such a big part of my life. I've learned about being an immigrant very, very early on in my childhood from my grandparents and I grew up in a town that's 55 Latino. So yeah, it's very heavy on my heart but I'm really excited because I kind of need a distraction. This weekend's been really tough and I just want to laugh and key a little bit. I Feel like that's what everyone kind of needs right now anyways, so I'm ready to giggle. It's been a second since I've giggled. I feel like I haven't even seen you in so long.

Like, we were second to go, which I don't know how festivals work. I'm not sure. I didn't know how this all works. So a couple of weeks ago, we talked about Meghan Trainor at a festival.

Something. And people were kind of. People are so mean. They're like, I don't support this. But they were, like, clowning her because, like, wow. No one showed up to her set. You understand These fairgrounds are, like, so big. Right?

[Trisha Paytas]

It's a lot of space.

Yeah. So those could be a Couple thousand people, which is a lot. Which is what I play when I do the theaters. It could be a couple thousand people. Especially if you go early on in the day, people don't come. So I was in my head, I started thinking about that. I was like, oh, my God, we're second to go. They're like, when we got there, nobody was there. I was like, oh, my gosh. So it could be one of those sets where you just go out and there's like literally a line of people or whatever. But there was a pretty good crowd of people. And I was. And then I got nervous, like, what if they're not here to see me? Because Rita Ora was right after me. I was like, what if they're like, we just want to see Rita. We don't want to see this girl? So I got, like, really nervous about it. But then they did chant my name. Danielle Perez, one of my followers, but also one of my friends, he was. He got it of people going, trisha, Trisha. I was so nervous. I was out of breath. I disassociated. I do not know what I said. I was so, like. It was hot. I was like, out of breath because the stage was so huge. We only had 15 minutes. I never did a festival before. I was so nervous. And then I said a bunch of things and I don't even know. I remember afterwards, my photographer is like, you were saying, like, like, my body. I was like, oh, my God.

I did see that. It was like, work. Yes.

[Oscar]

Literally. Did it make sense?

[Trisha Paytas]

You're like giving birth to the pope, but this post going to, like, gays. You're. You were giving.

[Oscar]

She sent me a clip of me talking. I said to Moses, can I post this? I don't want to watch it, but can you see if I said anything weird? Because all I remember is that you have four minutes. But I didn't have a speech planned. And I usually have my normal speeches on my errors at Trust Shore, which is more like inspiring, you know, it's like to the queer community, like, I love you. You know, we'll never stop fighting for you and all this stuff. But this didn't seem like that crowd. This seemed like we're on poppers and on each other's shoulders crowd. So I was like, what do I say? So I just. Everything gay in my head came out like, gooning. And like, I know that sounds gay, but I was just trying to think of anything. And I was like. And then just like, God, I'm really just saying so much stupid stuff right now. So I don't know what I said, but hopefully it was ok. The little clip I posted was like, okay enough.

But it really was iconic.

The opening of like the way the music was and then coming out and the whole, the production and like the animation and everything. That was really nice.

They had really good food at Pride. They had really good chicken fingers and fried Mac and cheese. But it was very, very stressful. But then I got to see Paris, I got to see everyone and it was really fun. But anyways, Pride keeps going too, all month. So Happy Pride.

But I. Yes. I met Gerard Way, everybody. I don't know. I think it's manifestation for real. Because we've done 35 cities of this tour. Every tour, I dress as Gerard Way from Black Parade. Every tour, I say, I'm always pregnant. I'll never get to see him on tour. Because yet again, they're doing another tour when I'm pregnant, when I'm giving birth. Like, I've always given birth when they performed here in la. So. Oh, my God, I love this photo. I haven't really, like, ever. I haven't really fully got to look at it yet because I wanted to wait a week to post about it. Just because, like, privacy and stuff like that. I want to, like, you know, whatever. So I was like, okay, I don't even know where to start with this. Oh, my gosh. Okay, so my tour manager was his tour manager back in, like, 2010. Oh, yeah. Like, really long time ago. But, like, I never knew that when I hired. Like, when I hired my tour manager, he did my Trishmas Live. He did this. I. I love him, but he always, you know, he saw the opening of Christmas Live about Gerard Way, and he's like, oh, you like Gerard Way? Like, I used to tour with him in 2010. Like, on his solo one, I was like, that's the Coolest thing I ever heard. I would always ask him questions about him. He's like, he's so nice, whatever. But again, that was so long ago. And, like, you know, I wasn't gonna be like, oh, can you introduce me to Gerard Away? Whatever. So, yeah, we met. This was last Tuesday. And, yeah, we met very casually. As you could tell, he was not prepared to do it, but we met very casually. We were in the same proximity of each other, and we were very, very close to each other. And it's not casually.

It was professional. Like, you were one recording artist.

[Oscar]

So we were rehearsing for Pride. So we had new Pride dancers and everything, and we had to go back into, like, the dance rehearsal studio. We had, like, you know, do sound check and everything like that all of a sudden and, like. And. And they're not there anymore, and we're not there anymore. But all of a sudden, like, we're like. There's two spaces connect to each other. And our music was blasting. Our music goes down. All of a sudden I hear. And I'm like. I'm like, that sounds like My Chemical Romance. Like, it sounded like. I was like, is this, like a cover band? Is this what. They're doing a huge stadium tour this year, so they're moving to, like, now they're moving to, like, a sound stage. Like, literally like a movie soundstage or whatever, so that they wouldn't be here. Because it's like, it's. It's like it's small. It's like, whatever. It seems odd, but it was like their initial, initial rehearsals. And I'm like, listening, and then I'm trying to see if I can hear. I'm like, I'm trying to see if I hear a voice. I don't know. Anyways, so then my tour manager, who doesn't usually come to rehearsals, he just happened to be at. Come to this rehearsal because I think he had to get, like, props or, like, something from our dancers, like, you know, travel information or something. So he came and I was like, I'm like, I think I hear mcr. And he actually went on tour, some. Somewhat of a tour with them in, like, 2002 with taking back Sunday. So he kind of knew the band too. He's like, I'll just go in and say hi. And I was like, oh, my gosh. So he went in and he didn't come back for, like, 20 minutes. And I was like, oh, my God, I wonder what happened. Like, I wonder what it is. And so he went in, and then he came Back into our room. And all my dancers had just gone on break. I was with my choreographer and the assistant choreographer, and they all. All my dancers went on break. And then he's like, my tournament is like, Australian. I can't do his accent. But he's, like, just so happy and jolly. He's just always like, yep, he's coming in to say hi. Who's coming in to say hi? And he's like, gerard. I was like, why? Like, I heard. I heard, like, talking out there, but I didn't know. And I was like, what do you mean? And he's like, he's gonna come say hi in here. And I was like, oh, my gosh. So anyways, we're just like, in this, like, whatever, in this room. And like, five minutes later, Gerard Way walks into our rehearsal space and was just so, so nice and so, like. I don't know how to explain it. Like, it felt like, okay, this sounds blasphemous. I'm so sorry. But it really felt like God was coming towards me, like, that I was being. You know, that I was being chosen to come to heaven. Like, that's what it felt like. And I talk about disassociating, like, oh, my God. Cause I came home to tell Moses. And I was like, he's like, what did you talk about? I was like, I don't know. I truly have no idea.

[Ben]

Like, I had to, like, interrogate her to get some ideas of what the conversation was like to jog her memory, you know?

[Oscar]

It really was like, I felt like I was. I had died and gone to heaven. I know that sounds, like, so extreme, but he just was so sweet and so nice. I don't even know how to explain it. And then, yeah, I probably talked so much. I just remember I talked a lot. And then I was like, I need to, like, slow down. I also don't want to have too much of his time. I did ask beforehand to our tour, to my tour manager. I was like, oh, do you think, like, it's okay to ask for a picture? It's like, that weird. You guys know I would, like, never ask for a picture from anyone. He's like, no, no. I asked if, you know, you guys can have a picture or whatever. And I was like, okay, perfect. So it felt, like, less awkward. So I. I don't know. He came in, truly. I don't know what I said. I was just. I was babbling. Probably just like, I. I love you. I said, like, you saved my life, which is true. Back. Even though I was like 32 when I discovered him in, like 2001. Like 2001. Two, one. Like, I. He saved my life. I was just like, I don't know. I don't know how to explain it to people, but he really did. And all of a sudden, this person who is just a person, but also just like. Like, it felt like a God to me. It just was like, they're standing in front of you anyways. And just so sweet, so nice. And.

Because I immediately texted her, like, does he know? Like, because that's what everyone wonder. Like, does he know?

[Oscar]

Right, right, right.

Does he know your. Your videos?

[Oscar]

Like, I did ask him. So I did. Did I ask him or did he tell me? I had. I want to get this story right.

[Ben]

He told, like, his daughter, like, he told you.

[Oscar]

He did say. I don't even know how we got there. Something. I probably told him we had, like, a cover or I don't know what I did, but he's like, oh, my. Yeah, he must have. He must have. But that's so weird. Maybe I asked him if he saw it. I don't know. I can't remember. But he has seen the videos back in the day, the sad boy videos. He's like, yeah, my daughter actually told. Told me that you. You dressed up like me in like, recreated videos. And I was like, oh, my God. And then I said something. I was just like, I do remember that. I was like, I'm so sorry. Yeah, we just like, knocked off all your videos. I'm so sorry. He's like, no, they were. They're reacting recreations. They're wonderful. Like, he was so encouraging. And I think my whole fear is him thinking I was, like, a weirdo. I was a weirdo. I'm sorry that, you know, I was. I was spending so much money recreating these videos and dressing up like him. He's probably like, what is happening? But he was. He was so nice and so sweet and. And then of course, me being parasocial. Like, obviously I, like, said I knew his dot well, you know, like, I knew his daughter's, like, name. So I was like, oh, my God. She, like, I said the name. She knows who I am. Like, oh, my God. Just, you know, being so extra whatever. She's probably a teenager now. I mean, I remember anyways, so, yeah, so he had seen him. He approves. So that was good. And then so we took a picture inside. The lighting was horrendous. Oh, my God. Those rehearsal space sightings were horrendous. So I was Like, I was like, oh, my God, the lighting so bad. And I was like, I think someone said, can you. Do you want to go outside and take it? And I was like, God, I don't want to make him travel outside with me. But I was like, do you mind? And he's like, sure, yeah, whatever you want. It was so nice. So he, like, walked. We walked out of the rehearsal space, like, down the hallway. We were gonna do it in front, but I'm like, no, you know, I don't want anyone. Whatever. And then we had to walk even further to get to, like, past wherever, to, like, this. This little wall. And we took another picture, and it just was. It just was bliss. And then I think I told him, like, oh, he was telling me, oh, God, this is why I need to, like, just shut up sometimes. Cause he was telling me, like, tour, like, what's happening on this? Like, the set list, like, what songs he's performing. And he's about to give me, like, a secret. He's like, there's little spots of the song that we're gonna. And then my dad cuts them off. I was like, I don't know how you sing it. I sing it every night for a minute, and I can't even. I was so stupid. And I was like, what was he gonna say? Because he's like, there's little. There's little storylines in there. And I was like, oh, my God, why did I cut him off? And then he's like, yeah, it's a hard song to sing. No, but he said something like, I just. Like, you're actually probably even say anything. I was just talking, like, your vocals must be. They're amazing. That song is so hard to sing. Like, how did you. I don't know. One day, maybe I could have a real conversation with him.

It didn't really hear. He needs to come here.

He does, like, comic book podcasts. And, like, he's intellectual. I think I told him that, too. I was like, I didn't know if he would like me because you're very intellectual and artsy, and I just think, like, I'm a dumb. So I don't know. He was. Yeah, I should have congratulated him on so many things, and I just didn't. He's very, like, just humble. Like, he's just like, a person that just like, walks around by himself and stuff. Like that you just wouldn't think that. I don't know. We. We once rehearsed next to Sabrina Carpenter and there was like 5,000 people there. You know what I mean? And even Backstreet Boys was there. Like, I just feel like there's just, you know, and maybe there was. I guess I met him in a different setting because he knew my tour manager. So it was like different, but he just was like this humble person. We kind of look like each other, right? We look like each other.

He just looks so cool too. Like, he just looks so cool. I don't know how to explain it. MCR fans are excited because they haven't seen a candid of Gerard in a long time. So, like, we want to see this photo. He looked so cool. He looked so good. I just, I don't know. I was. I had to tell him I was pregnant so he doesn't think I have a big belly. I was like, well, I'm pregnant. He's probably like, okay. Like, why okay? I don't know. I just was saying very random things. So anyways, Gerard, thank you for being nice to me and thank you for not thinking I was a complete weirdo. I'm glad we met in the situation we did. I think if I would have met him any other way, it would have been like, I probably would have passed out. I almost did pass out. I did pass. I had a little disassociation. I passed out while standing up. It was. It was crazy. I just, I don't know what it was. I got really tongue tied. I truly don't think I could actually interview him or even talk to him, like, have a conversation because that literally, like no words were coming out.

It was non verbal. I even asked people after, I'm like, I don't know what I said. It was really weird. He probably thought like, what is wrong with this person? I don't know. Has that ever happened to you when you meet Taylor Swift? Do you get tongue tied or are.

You just, oh my God. The first, not the, the second time. The second time I met her at Reputation. I literally cringe thinking about it because I was so like the most. I was like, oh my God, I can't even look at you. I'm like staring at the sun like if my wig is on fire. And I was like, yes. And she, she laughed like in the moment. I just couldn't help it. Like I had the opposite of non verbal where I just couldn't stop. I was like going. And I Was the first one to meet her too. And I was like. Like, she walked in and then she said hi to everyone. And then like, her. I get. I don't know who it was, but tour manager or something was like starting the meet and greets and everyone was kind of just waiting. Like no one wanted to go first. I sure as hell didn't want to go first.

[Oscar]

Really.

They just said, oscar, come up. And I was like, okay. And then I just said everything. And then my friend that went with me, I think she could feel the vibe because she was like, really giving, you know, her time to me. But then my friend Mark came after. He was like. And like, welcome to New York. Really changed my life when I moved to New York. And she went, oh, cool. And then they took the vibe.

[Oscar]

Oh, my gosh.

[Trisha Paytas]

But I think she could feel his vibe was off. Cause it was a little off. I was like, wait, who was that? My friend Mark went after and like.

[Oscar]

Wait, why was the vibe off though?

[Trisha Paytas]

We're not friends anymore, so I think she knew. I think she sensed that it just wasn't gonna work out.

[Oscar]

Wait, so wait, you weren't friends when you did the meet?

[Trisha Paytas]

No, we were friends then, but then a year later, we weren't friends.

[Oscar]

So you thought she, like had a premonition that you wanna be friends?

[Trisha Paytas]

I think she knew. Yeah, I think she knew. She had the intuition. So she was really giving her saying much to him. But to me, she was. She was really like laughing at everything I said. But it was in retrospect, even like five minutes after I was like, why did I say that? I'm like, that's so embarrassing. Why did I say my wig is incinerated or whatever?

[Oscar]

I love that. So you were trying to go. Yeah, you're trying to go full on, like, fabulous.

[Trisha Paytas]

Like, I wasn't even trying. It just happened.

[Oscar]

It just came out.

The gay jumped out.

I love that. I love when people are more enthusiastic because then you're like, okay. They're really excited.

Yeah, she was like. When I said my wig was incinerated, she said, I'm sorry, did that hurt? And I was like.

So at least you remember what she said back. Yeah, she was doing an interaction.

Yeah, she was definitely. She was giving a little something back. I think she was entertained. I had like the court jester privilege, you know, I was just like a little. Like a wound up little clown. And then I. I'm like, doo, doo, doo, let me make a fool out of myself.

That's how I used to be at meet and greets, too. I used to be, like, really excited. I was like, let me just talk really, really fast. I love you so much. And I was like, that's annoying. Let me not do that. Yeah.

[Trisha Paytas]

Now I think I would be a little bit more. I mean, I say that, but then if I ever met her, I'd probably do the same.

[Oscar]

Was that the last time you met her?

[Trisha Paytas]

The last time I met her, I was a little bit more cool. I think it was. That was the last time I met her was 2019. Yeah. For the album Lover. And I told her about Reputation, how much I love Reputation, and how much I love the new album. And I was like. I was like, taylor, I would go to war for this album. I love it. She's like. I'm like, I will always be a Reputation truther, but I love, love her. She's like, thank you so much. Like, I needed to hear that. She was having a key then, too. Yeah. So I was a little bit more calm.

[Oscar]

I think that's, like, the right etiquette when someone is saying, like, what you're a fan of. Right? Like, I think so. You probably want to know why you don't want to be too cool either. Because sometimes people come up to me acting like they don't give a. That I'm even there. They're always just like, two, blah.

[Trisha Paytas]

They're just like, what the hell are you doing here?

[Oscar]

Yeah, yeah. They'll be like, hey, how you feeling? Can I get a picture? I was like, okay. I do, like, when people know a little bit insight when they have a little bit.

[Trisha Paytas]

And I showed her my snake, too, and she was like, happy about that.

[Oscar]

Once you have a tattoo that. To me, that will get me. Every time someone has a tattoo, I was like, oh, yeah, like, you're a fan. Like, let me. Let me, like, talk to you and stuff like that. I. I guess. Yeah. Well, you've had how many meetings with her? Three.

[Trisha Paytas]

Three. Yeah.

[Oscar]

So maybe my third one will be. I mean, if he, like, was like, come to a show, you know, I'm bringing the baby with me. Put some headphones on there, because it'll be like, a week or two after. I was like, let's go. We're going to the. We're going to the FCR show. Yeah. Maybe the third time. I don't know. You know, because they are just people.

[Trisha Paytas]

Yes. Yes.

[Oscar]

Which is crazy, but like you said, it's such a. They're almost, like, not like they are people. That's what I had to keep telling Myself, like he's just a person. He like, you know, goes home to his family, like, whatever. But like in the moment they really do feel like God chose you. Like when you're meeting them, you're like, I'm the chosen one. You know what I mean? I don't know. It was really weird. Cuz he's also very hard to meet. He doesn't do meet and greets, he doesn't do like press at all. So he's a hard person to meet. Anyways, I was shocked. I was shocked he wanted a picture. Cuz also like you have to understand too, like he probably wasn't like expecting it. Like he was just there for like this like. And the singer only goes in. From what I've heard from like my photographer, she does a lot of band shake. Usually the singer comes in for like an hour one time, you know, like they're not there for the full day, for the full whatever. So just like the timing of it working out was.

[Trisha Paytas]

Yeah, because like for Cat's Eye, if they're dancing, they have to be in there longer. But the singer, it's like the production's around them.

[Oscar]

Yes. They already know the songs. The band was rehearsing. Yeah, he was saying this like this big stage thing that they're like building out. I mean they're playing two nights at Dodger Stadium, which is like 50,000 thousand people per night. And then I think they're doing all stadiums. So yeah, I guess they're moving to like literally like a movie sound stage to like build it out or something like that. So that's why I waited to be just in case, you know, I didn't want whatever because it was just so surreal. I've been to this place a thousand times and I've never seen My Chemical Romance. And I was just like, oh. Even my tour managers, like that's not where, you know, they usually are at. So I don't know, it lined up. It was, it was, it was my ultimate manifestation come true. I couldn't hold it and I wanted to wait till like the podcast, but then I had to people this week. I was like, let me just tell people because you know, I was doing Black Parade and I was like, oh. And what's so weird, what's not too weird, but kind of weird, we came home that night. Moses had made me like chicken and rice. Like one of my favorite meals, like home cooked. It's really good. We finished overcompensating and one of the second to last episodes is welcome to the Black Parade. Yes.

What's crazy is like, okay, I get it. But like this show is like more girly pop. Like it's Charli XCX and Brittany. So like the fact that the whole episode was like called welcome to the Black Parade and it was about like the sister having like the thing. But then it was the sister that sang, right? Was it the sister who sang Black Parade? It literally was like my concert where it's just like me and like a microphone like with a karaoke track behind me. Like when I was a young boy, she's like singing this song and then obviously then the, the he gets his. His kiss with a guy for the first time. So I was like, oh my God, this is literally a Trisha Paytas concert right now. Like, it's just so cool. It's like gay with like Black Parade. It was just like amazing. It was so wonderful. And then, and then Benny Drama commented. He's like, he said lol. Laughed out loud or something like that. What do you mean you're doing Black Parade in like a gay show? Like that's me. That's what like it was. So it didn't. Anyways, I was, it felt the line. It was that night too. We watched it and we had no idea. We. All of a sudden she was singing Black Parade. I was like, what the hell? And then they have a really hot make out session between Benny and Lucas Gage, which I'm like, loved it so much. It was like his first kiss in a bathroom stall. And. And then black Parades actually. And they go back and forth between Gerard's voice and the girl's voice so you could hear like Gerard singing. And I was like, that's so tea. That's so cool. It was, it was beautiful. I was on a high. I was on a high. And truly, literally anyone? Honestly? It's okay. My least favorite place people ask for a picture is in like the bathroom. Right when I'm going to the bathroom, like at the airport or something. Someone literally like opened the door. Kind of my fault because you know there's like green lights and red lights on top of the stalls. I guess mine wasn't locked all the way, so there probably was a green light and someone came in. I was like literally wiping and I'm like hunched over wiping. Yeah, it was crazy.

And asked for a photo.

The moral of the story is death is coming. You're not. You can't avoid death. So you might have missed dying here, but now death's gonna come for you in other ways.

And the garbage truck comes thinking, not knowing you're in there, and then puts you in, then smashes you. So, yeah, we need to get a.

And then in another scene, Jojo confirmed that she was dyeing her hair around two, maybe one and a half. She said, I'm not a natural blonde. I'm actually a natural brown. I get brown roots so I have to dye it so it looks like I'm a natural blonde. This is her at nine. So that's why she says I'm, I'm a natural brown. Obviously it's. Those are her words.
