I love you so much and I really appreciate you saying that. That makes me really happy. But also I feel like there's, like, a lot of levels that come to that. What? You what? Oh, she's eating. There's a lot of levels that come because I think that, like, you are not obligated to give me any type of energy prior to being on stage. So I feel like when you have new guests, you don't know. You have to turn on your personality earlier. And that can be a lot. And so with me, like, we could not talk for the whole. I could show up and just get on stage and, like, that would be great. That would be fine for us. Like, I could have. We could have no clue what we're doing and we would figure it out.

The one that I was at. The one that we're moving to. I go there because Internet's getting put in today, and I'm like, oh, great. This is going to be awesome. I can just relax, get there, plug my computer in. There's no power on the back deck. I go, okay, that's weird. My handy Randy is there. I say, randy, do you know why there's no electric on the back deck? He's not the electrician. I've been having issues with the electrician. He goes, well, there is a wire that's just cut hanging downstairs. I wonder if that's it. That was it. And so the Internet people get there. He runs all the lines, does all the things, goes to connect. The modem says, you don't get Internet here. And I said, oh, okay. What does that mean? He said, someone has to come out and, like, inspect everything. So I had. I have to make another thing. So I'm like, okay, I have my hotspot. I'm gonna be fine. My work calls were fine, thankfully. Then I jump on to record this and then it didn't work. And then I go to my mom's house and her Internet didn't work and I wasted 20 minutes going there instead of just coming home. Anyway, let's. Let's start over anyway. Good morning, good evening, good day, good night to all of our karmarus. It has been a mother effing Friday.

It has been quite the Friday. I did start the original recording off by giving Becky a nice tan compliment by saying that I never want to tour without her because she just brings a special type of joy and a new fun side. Not new. The fun side of Kale out. So I gave her that compliment. And you know what? It kind of is getting lost in the sauce. So I don't know that that is the conversation to be had now.

Well, I actually really appreciate you bringing that back up because I said it to Leah. She's like. And she was like, did she said that out of nowhere? That's so nice. And I said, well, she was watching videos from the tour. And what I was saying earlier was that I feel like it, like it's the big picture of everything too, because I'm like a really easy friend. I'm like one of those friends that's down for whatever mood that anyone's in. And if I'm in a different mood and you're in a different mood, I can go be in a mood that I want myself. So if we are in pre show and Kale's in a mood that doesn't want to talk, like, I'm not going to talk to her. And then we could just get on stage and turn our personalities on and there's. That's. That's it.

And it's great. And I am so thankful that you're going to be at the next. Even though you're not necessarily my guest for Atlanta. I hope you still come.

Okay, perfect. So I want to just tell you some of the things that I learned on my celiac follow up yesterday.

[Becky]

Okay.

[Kale]

I did text you some of it, but just for anyone listening, shout out to every single person who's been telling me to get tested for celiac for the past five to seven years. And I didn't listen to you. You all were correct. But my marker number was 166.5. And normally you need to do an endoscopy, not go gluten free and do an endoscopy before they like 100% confirm your diagnosis. She said because my number is so far off the charts, they don't need me to go gluten free. They don't need me to wait to go gluten free. They said I can go gluten free now because it could take up to two years to stabilize my number and that I need to be looking at body lotions, hair products, makeup products, toothpaste, body wash, soap, hand soap, laundry detergent, all the things that have gluten in them that we never knew. I thought gluten was only in food.

[Becky]

I also thought that's going to be my e in mine and Leah's teams tonight that I did not know that gluten was outside of food.

[Kale]

Yes. So she said that hair products are. Are probably the least of my concern. Unless I'm washing my hair and it's going down my face. And usually it's just like the nose and the mouth situation. If it can be ingested either by on purpose or by mistake. Like if I'm taking my makeup off and it drips into my mouth and things like that. And then sunscreen. I had to like, we're taking the babies to the beach tomorrow. And I had to look at sunscreens

[Becky]

because are you going to rehoboth jealous? Keep going.

[Kale]

Because she said, and I don't remember the wording exactly, so don't quote me on this, but I think it's like number one relatives or like there's like a number numeric system for them. So it's like parents, siblings, children, like the people that are directly related to you should all be tested. They said it's a genetic autoimmune disorder or autoimmune disease, whatever, which I also didn't know. You can't just like develop it just to develop it. Like just because of whatever. You have to have the marker for it. If you have the marker for it, it doesn't mean that you 100% have it, but it means that you have a chance of getting it. But if you do not have the marker, you will never get it. So either my mom or Raymond have. They're either. I guess they. I'm assuming one of them has it or has a marker for it. I don't know. My sister has to be tested. My kids have to be tested. And they're gonna get like whenever they have their routine labs, they'll add that.

[Becky]

And it's just a blood test.

[Kale]

Yeah, it's just a blood test. Which I also didn't know because I've been complaining about this for so long and I was told I had IBS and that was it and just call it a day. And nobody ever looked into it further. So that's interesting to me. And I just want to say that gluten free products are extremely few and far between. A lot. I had to go to Ulta and Sephora to get like a makeup kit put together for the show so that the makeup artist could use gluten free products. Cross contamination is a big thing. I did not know that either. Because you think that it's dry, right? So like when you think of bread, the doctor was like, you cannot use the same toaster as your children. You cannot use the same cutting boards as your children. You cannot use the makeup brushes. So yes, the makeup that somebody has might be gluten free, but they may have used non gluten free makeup brushes. Even if they clean them, it's not like a hundred percent.

[Becky]

My brother's partner is gluten free and when she comes over for Christmas, we make sure to get all gluten free stuff. And like one time my brother saw someone put tongs from the gluten free pasta into the regular pasta. And like that is cross contamination. Like you can't.

[Kale]

But I didn't know that because it's like, like dry foods. Why would it matter?

[Becky]

How do we feel? I mean this is gonna significantly change your life.

[Kale]

It's go. Yeah. And everyone that I've like read on forums says that it's life changing at like, it's really hard at first, but then it becomes second nature. I am gonna be 1000% honest. The products on my body are going to be the least difficult for me. It's going to be the food that is very difficult for me for sure. And I'm, I'm, I have to be honest. Like I'm, I'm going to have one last Pizza Hut pizza before I do this, like before I try. And I also think that it's going to be like a learn, like I'm going to slowly do it because how do you just like do it overnight?

You know, I don't think you're such like a snacking person that and food person.

[Kale]

So I leave Sunday. Today's Friday. I leave Sunday for tour. I'm gonna do my best as far as like looking for gluten free options.

I'm, I'm, I'm more, I'm worried, but I'm also like, maybe this will be good for you and like, you'll feel better even with like smaller changes. I mean, because you, you eat a lot of gluten.

[Kale]

I eat so much gluten. Like when she saw my numbers, she looked at me and goes, I don't need more confirmation that you have celiac disease. I said, okay, which is funny. And then she also said that because my iron is so far off the charts too, I can't like, I'm not having. I have to do four iron infusions in the next four weeks.

[Becky]

I think Leah had to do that during pregnancy. Is that normal during pregnancy?

[Kale]

Common? Yeah. I mean I think the, the iron will be fine once I get my. It's just the food is going to take me a really long time. I think like, it's going to be like, okay, I'll go glute free for this meal and then eat normal for what? Like, just to like gradually.

[Becky]

Also, for anyone listening to this, whether it is celiac disease or gluten allergy or whatever it is, just because a brand, just because a brand has gluten free options does not mean that their entire company is gluten free. Yeah. Because if, I mean, thankfully I'm not having like, like essentially it's an allergic reaction, but it's not like a life or death allergic reaction. But I'm sure there are people who

will have like, who will have that, which is crazy. Like to have that high of like numbers and like your ailment is yourself.

Well, what I literally would talk about it on coffee combos. And I want to say for five years they were like, kale, get tested for celiac kale. You probably have celiac kale. This sounds like celiac. And I just think to myself, like, I'm overall a very healthy person. So I just was like, there's no way I actually have something. It's probably just my diet, which it is, but also autoimmune.

So anyway, like, what are top foods, people?

[Kale]

I can have rice. I can have potatoes. I can have meat.

Oh, okay. But good.

But you have to look at, like, the butter and the things that are like, it's cooked oils and things like that.

Maybe any. But listen, but the point of what I'm saying is, is that I. It's really impressive how when he wants to learn something, he can and, like, actually goes the extra mile to do it. You should send him to a gluten free cooking school.

Well, I should take them with him also, because he looked at me, he goes, the whole family is about to be gluten free. And I was like, honestly, that probably would be easier because otherwise I have to keep everything separate. But that's actually not a bad idea. Although they probably don't have anything in Delaware, so we might be coming to New Jersey.

Okay. Or you could probably just hire a private chef that is, like, specializes in gluten free. No, no, no.

Obviously I have that kind of money.

Okay, good. Because we do. I had gotten, like, a Blackstone, and sometimes he does hibachi out there. So we use soy sauce. So we'll just have to do gluten free.

My cow's name is Pork Chop and he's two and a half years old. He came from Texas. The previous owners had a lot of stuff going on and they wanted to find a good home for him, so they drove him up here. And my kids have been walking the cow like a dog around the yard, around.

the people that haven't seen it is a steer. It's a highland steer. He's fixed. He's two and a half. He is really cute and he does need a friend. But here's the thing, here's the thing. Let me do newest first and scroll all the way down to the bottom. Okay. Did we ever hear a story of how Lee And I met. Maybe Lee. And I met. I always say she was hanging out with the boys that never left my town. I had moved home from Philly. Leah was home from College. We are five years apart, so our paths never cross. I FaceTime my friend. Newly single, FaceTime my friend. I'm like, hey, man, what are you doing? He's like, just hanging out. Pans over, bunch of blonde girls hanging out. I'm like, I'm coming over. That's when I met Leah. And the rest is history. That was 10 years ago. She asked if I wanted to share a blanket with her, and I said, are you flirting with me? And it made her blush anyway. Oh, okay. This one says emotional here. While taking care of your father, did you ever feel like it was a job? My son is disabled and he needs 247 care. It's so draining. And then you feel guilty about feeling that way because there were nights I would stay up crying, just, like, begging him to go back to bed because he couldn't be up by himself and he didn't know where he was or, like, trying to break out. Yeah, man. Like, any emotion you feel as a caretaker is so incredibly valid. And just be so gentle on yourself because life's hard, and adding that role is, like, insanely harder. So this asks more about my high school and college experience. What year would you go back to and would. What would you do? I definitely wouldn't go back to high school. High school, I had so much fun, but I was so focused on sports, and I wasn't really a partier in high school like I was, but not like, I was always playing sports. College, different story. I fully lived my experience of college. If I could go back, I would go back to probably the last six months of college because what I did was I calculated my gpa, and if I got straight A's that semester, it wouldn't have brought me to the next level of graduating with honors. And if I got all Cs that semester, it wouldn't have dropped me down. So I, like, graduated with honors, and it didn't matter what really great as long as I got Cs in all my classes. So I. So I got a phone call from a producer and they said, hey, can you fly out to LA tomorrow and come and record marriage boot camp? And they specifically said, do not tell Kale and do not tell Javi. And I said, I don't know, let me figure it out. And obviously I called Kale because I wasn't just gonna show up to marriage boot camp without telling her. And I was like, do you want me to come? If you want me to come, I will come. And she said, yeah, that's fine. Yeah, that'll be good. Yeah, come. So I went. Because the whole storyline of marriage boot Camp, they, like, crafted it where Kale cheated on me or, sorry, cheated on Javi with me when that wasn't the case or reality. But they used that because there was a public photo of Kayla and I kissing, and they posted that picture all over Kale's and Javi's rooms. At marriage boot Camp. Yeah. So they used that as the reason behind it, but that wasn't the reason. I think, like, the marriage, like, counseling stuff was real, but me being that Javi didn't know I was there, which ended up being very funny. I need your help with this question. What it's. I would love to know how you create such special relationships with each of Kale's kids. Kids. With that and with not seeing them on the regular basis. How do you build strong connections with them? Well, this is, this is very important. First it is making sure you're meeting each kid with their wants and needs, like when and being present when I'm there. So if I'm there and Lincoln, Lux or Creed asks me to go outside to play a sport with them, I'm most likely going to do it because I'm creating memories and, and I'm turning myself into someone that they can rely on to ask to do things and continue to do things. Having conversations, having intentional conversations, asking how they are. And really like when we have conversations, it's about things they love. Right. Like when I'm talking to Creed, I'm like talking about Sonic, you know, I'm learning about things that they like and bringing those up in conversation and. Yeah, so intentional like, like it doesn't matter how old someone is, they want to be met with things and talk about things they love. You guys have a lot of questions for me and this makes me feel a little bit special and that makes me happy. Oh, another thing, I am like this with any, any child that comes into my house. I want to make sure they ask to come back. So I try to make their experience warm and welcome and as enjoyable as possible. So anytime Kayl's kids have come here, I wanted to make sure that they felt that way so they asked to come back. I guess I feel that way with adults too. Next question. If money wasn't a factor, what would your day or your dream day look like? Great question. My dream day would look like waking up with Leah and Bex, maybe having a nanny that like cleans the house and like Lee and I could go on a walk while Bex naps. Or we could go on a walk wall because the nanny's there. We can go on a walk with him. For the haters is in my dream. I like always, I wish that could be my full time job. Honestly. Like you don't want to waste a day traveling and flying. So maybe we. It would be a sunny day. We'd be hanging out by the pool for a couple hours. And then we have a barbecue outside and sit outside and have a nice dinner. And then end with a movie night or something of those sorts or just talking. I don't know. I think there was a couple questions around new house. Leah and I decided that the overhead in our house makes our quality of life lower. We love our house. It's a beautiful house. There's so many good things about it. But. But it's really expensive to live here. And as we grow our family we want to make sure we're able to create memories and have not have money be a factor. Leah also wants to work less to be able to do that. At least right now we need to minimize our monthly overhead and that includes leaving this house. So the new house. So I'm waiting to be done and then I'm going to hopefully produce some content from it. Someone said why don't you ever wear your hair down? And if I've ever thought about cutting it, I, you know, I'm a creature of habit. I wish that it was just socially acceptable to have a shaved head because I would shave my head. But I, I feel like my femininity like, like relies on my hair and I like to keep that part of myself. But I do wish I could just shave my head and not have to worry about it. And then it's just a comfortability thing. Like I just have to throw my hair up. I know it's going to work. I don't really enjoy wearing my hair down. Like I don't really care to. Doesn't make me feel better. So yeah, that is it. Oh, another caregiver burnout. I spoke to that already. I'm so sorry that anyone has to deal with that. It is not fun. As a member of the dead dads club, how do you handle grief? There are times that I'm alone that I get emotional most of the time I feel like I use dark humor, as does my brother. My poor husband doesn't know how to take it. Sometimes that dark humor is the only thing that gets me through grief. And also I feel like I have a decent relationship with death. Like, I know that it's going to happen and I know that people are going to die. And I don't know, I just, I don't know what I would do if it was Leah or Bex or someone. I don't know. My grief is with people who. My grief with my father is someone I've always knew was going to die before me. Did he die way too soon? Yes. But my memories with my dad, I try to hold on to the good ones because the ones throughout dementia were really hard and man like, yeah. There's just so much. I don't know, there's so much life that he lived and there's so much happiness within that life and there's so many good memories I can think of or I say this often, like, how lucky am I to think of how my dad would be with my son and know that experience and how beautiful that experience would be. So I try to hold on to those because I can't bring him back, you know, I got nothing. Oh, when do, when do you see yourself leaving your corporate job? Is that a long term goal? I think it's super long term. I would have to make a lot like triple the amount of money I make at my corporate job inside my outside jobs to be able to feel comfortable doing so. Because you have to. Being a corporate girl, you have to take into consideration things like health insurance, 401ks, the benefits of it's outside of your salary and that adds a lot of money. So we'll see. Go listen to for the haters. Would love to hear your favorite moments on tour so far. How does it compare to when you were on Kale's book tour with her? These are two different things. That's crazy I to even think about. Kale's book tour is wild, man. What different people we were. My favorite parts of tour so far. One is going out to the bar after and meeting people, even though I feel like I've blacked out every time. Two is getting to like wake up and recap with Kayla Nike the next day about things that happen. Three is just being able to be like myself. Especially like during the vip. I feel like I'm just like mosing around and just talking to people, you know, I'm just a girl. I just like love to meet people the shows are hard. You know, I'm blurring lines of where I show should be, but they're so much fun, and I love getting to spend time with Kale, so that has been really fun. Oh, I've. Okay, I'll do two more. One is your best and worst moments with Kale. My best moments with Kale are when I wake up on her couch in her house and I watch every single one of her kids walk down those steps and give her love, and then we just have a chaotic, chaotic morning. Those are my. Of my favorite moments with her. And, like, it starts out with just us two having, like, coffee together and just having peace. Those are the best. My worst moments would definitely be, well, like, if we're not considering the toxicness of our relationship prior. Like, our worst moments currently is when Kale's phone rings when we're recording and her world just blow up. Blew up in a different way, because that happens. And it's worse because, like, you feel so much guilt that she has to go through another thing. And then, like, obviously, her demeanor and everything changes. Rightfully so. My last question that I am going to answer is, I've always been curious how you and Leah would feel if Bex decides he wants to call his donor dad someday. I know you all have a great relationship with him, and that's something Bex and Matt are comfortable with. With. Would you guys be cool with it? Hell, yeah. I mean, like, I don't think that Bex as a child or as, like, a young teen will consciously want to call Matt dad, but I think of him as, like, a young adult, right? Meeting people, being in the workplace, and, like, someone asking about his dad. Like, he would automatically just say, matt. Maybe he wants to correct people, maybe he doesn't. I think we talked about this last time. Like, I love. I'm looking forward to the relationship that they get to. To build together. I mean, man, I have a picture of Matt on my fridge, him and Justin, his husband. And it's like a card he wrote backs or. Yeah, Bex for Christmas. And I was looking at it, and I started tearing up thinking about. I'm gonna start tearing up now thinking about how lucky we got for him to be in our life life and for him to be in Bex's life. And, yeah, if Bex wants to call him dad someday, so be it. If anyone deserves that title at all, it would. It would be him for giving us the gift. So. And being present and loving him and, like, doing all the things. And that's it. I actually love this. I didn't know how Solo Mirror would be recording, but this was fun. I hope you guys had so much fun listening to this. I hope that we can do this again soon. I feel like it was just me and you guys.
