Kailyn Lowry
Foreign. How are you?
Becky Hater
I'm good. How are you?
Kailyn Lowry
A chicken with its head cut off. Sorry I'm late.
Becky Hater
What's up, everyone? Welcome back to karma and chaos.
Kailyn Lowry
Welcome to the show.
Becky Hater
Welcome to the chaos. Good.
Kailyn Lowry
How are you?
Becky Hater
Good night, Good day, Good morning. However it goes.
Kailyn Lowry
How are you feeling since you got very vulnerable?
Becky Hater
And I can tell you what, I'm not gonna cry today.
Kailyn Lowry
Okay. Period. But how are you feeling since that episode aired? Because I feel like people responded really, really well to you opening up.
Becky Hater
Yeah. So I took some notes about it. First and foremost, I'm feeling good.
Kailyn Lowry
Good.
Becky Hater
I'm doing good. I'm feeling good. There was so many people that reached out. I want to say thank you to everyone who left a comment, sent me a dm, made a post, did whatever. There was so much. I don't want to say positive. Like, there was so much positive feedback, but there was also so much, so many people that were just sympathizing with me because they also felt like the ways that I were feeling. One thing I didn't expect, which I got a lot of messages about, were people, like, thanking me for helping them better understand their husbands and how, like, it made them feel more, like, more open to them and not just feel anger towards their husbands for feeling distant in that situation of either having a kid or not understanding their husband. So that was really. It was just really cool to see the impact that it kind of had. So I appreciate everyone. I didn't really see any mean comments.
Kailyn Lowry
No, I definitely don't. I didn't anticipate there was going to be mean comments. I think that we're all at the age, like, our audience, thankfully, is at an age where, like, we're looking at things from a wider lens and, like, can more so put ourselves in other people's shoes with, like, obviously life experience and time. So I definitely didn't anticipate there being any negative comments. Yeah. Um, but I did see a lot of support, and I appreciated that for you. And it. You sharing what you were feeling actually helped me look at, you know, my situations with my own kids, dads, and, like, sort of reflecting and looking back, did that happen? Did. Did we feel any of that? Did we go through that? And so I could imagine. I had not had a talk with him about it, but I could imagine maybe that is how Elijah felt after the twins were born.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
But it definitely gives me, like, perspective, and I did. I really did appreciate it. Appreciate it. I would be curious to see if I, like, sent him the episode, if he felt if that's, like, how he was feeling. I'm glad that you got good feedback, and I'm glad that you're feeling good today.
Becky Hater
Yeah. And you know what it is? Like, I feel like I've removed my expectations of needing to feel a certain way, and that's really what's been helping me, like, wake up and not feel overwhelmed and not feel just, like, dissatisfied with my life. Because, like, I've. I've removed those expectations of feeling like I should feel like this is the best time of my life, feeling like I should just be, like, overwhelmed with love and gratitude. And, like, you know, in this bliss of life, I've started removing and dismantling the expectations that I kind of set for myself.
Alessandra
And.
Becky Hater
And so because of that, I'm able to, like, start enjoying little moments as they come because, like, I'm not expecting them to be there anymore. And obviously it's not gonna, like, be like, a light switch and turn, like, completely switch. But that's what I've been working on is just, like, being very present and, like, not having those expectations of anything.
Kailyn Lowry
How does one start dismantling expectations? Like, I'm asking for myself?
Becky Hater
I mean, I think it's really just, like, setting, like, why should I expect something to happen or something to be like someone else when, like, that's just not the reality of how my life has been in general. Like, how I've reacted to things or how I've enjoyed things or how I've chosen intently to live my life. It's never been about anyone else or, like, expectations of anyone else or expectations of life. And so, like, why was this moment different for me? Right.
Kailyn Lowry
It's so interesting to me, though, like, you saying that you removed expectations, and then in reference, obviously, to your son being born. And then the immediate next week's episode was me about my dad dying. And now that you're saying, like, the removing expectations thing, when I went to go meet my dad for the first time, that was something that Susie said to me was, do not have expectations. Like, don't. And that's something that has stayed with me for a really long time. But I don't really think about it often. But now you're saying this, and it reminds, like, Susie didn't say a whole lot of profound things to me. She didn't do a whole lot of profound things in my childhood, but that is one thing. And I thought it was coming from a place of, like, bitterness, but she literally said that. And now you're saying it. I need to Figure out how to walk through life with realistic expectations or, or really no expectations at all.
Becky Hater
And it's just like the intent behind it. Like you're choosing that intent. Like, I can expect something and I can expect. Put expectations to be excited about, but also in that same breath be okay with any outcome. Like I really myself with the expectations that I set for myself having a child. Like, I, like I didn't think it was going. There was going to be any bad parts. I didn't think that I was going to struggle with the things that I struggled with. And typically I'm good at like setting myself up for success or failure if it doesn't work, if I don't feel like this, like, that's okay. This. I guess it was just such like a, like a new space, a new area that like, I just didn't know what.
Kailyn Lowry
Yeah, it. You didn't know? You couldn't have known. You couldn't have prepared for this.
Becky Hater
No. And I, I guess it was just like a huge, monumental thing of life that you go through. Like, and I, I don't know if I said this before, and I don't say this in a emotional way or in some type of life changing way, but like I don't remember my life before him in like a what did I even do? Kind of way. Like, what was I doing with all of my time? And I've seen that like before too. Right. Like, I can't even imagine. Like, do you remember never having a responsibility?
Kailyn Lowry
Like, first of all, my first child was at 17.
Becky Hater
I know.
Kailyn Lowry
So, no, I don't know. Like, I think back to it, I'm like, I literally. But even, like I still work two jobs even before I had kids.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
So it was like I never really had a whole lot of free time. Like the trouble I got into was very minimal with minimal time. So.
Becky Hater
Yeah, it is funny because I feel like this has unlocked different emotions I have towards other kids. Like, I feel like I feel have stronger feelings. My friend was here, a childhood friend of, oh, Lindsay, you know, Lindsay Baker. She was here and her daughter was here and her daughter is six and a half. And like, like I felt more emotionally connected to her. Like, I was like, wow. Like, I love this. Like I've. And I've only met her a couple times. It was my first time hanging out with her on like a personal level and I was like, like I feel a lot of love towards her. And then I went out to lunch with my like one of my good friends, Amanda. She and her son is four months old. And I, like, looked at him and I was like, wow. Like, I feel like I love you. Like, I'd like. And it just made me excited to, like, be able to see Vex have those different, like, as he grows up and becomes a person. Like, you're like. I was talking to Elliot the other day. I, like, sent him a picture. It popped up on my, like, on my something. And I was just like, wow. Like, I love this kid so much.
Kailyn Lowry
Elliot's so funny. He always. He's so funny. Yeah. What a time. In other news, I have a couple updates. Karma and Chaos is the proud sponsor of Dog Pound Youth Football. So this is the football team that Lux is playing for. And Karma and Chaos has sponsored their little practice jersey so they can look badass in these little practice jerseys. Loved that. I got a message, a funny message from a listener on Instagram. So I wanted to read it because I told her I was going to read it. And so I wanted to just, okay, so this was on Reddit and I'm not a Reddit. Girly. Reddit is a scary place. You post something, you get bullied. Like not really down with it at all. Someone sent me a message and it says the time I ate Kale Lowry's eggs. And I'm thinking to myself, where is this going? In early May, my husband and I were from New Jersey. We're visiting his aunt who lives in Delaware. As we were driving to her house, we passed an egg stand. I had never had farm fresh eggs, so I asked my husband to pull over so we could grab some. As we approached the stand, the cooler was empty. The cooler doesn't. People who are listening to this and know about eggs, the cooler is not actually cooling. It's like a. Just put the eggs in. There's no like ice or anything. As we approached the stand, the cooler was empty, but there was a note that read, if empty, call 302, blah, blah, blah, blah blah. My husband called the number. No answer. But within two seconds the number is calling us back. My husband answers and the guy says, if we're looking to buy some eggs, I'm getting some together now. I'll be there in about 20 minutes. If you're going to. If you're willing to wait. Since we had somewhere to be. Since we had somewhere to be, we decided to buy them on our way home. By this time it was about 8pm and just starting to get dark. We stopped by the stand and grabbed two and a half, two half dozen cartons, left our payment in the deposit box and we were on our merry way. Now we're home and about three days after we purchased these eggs, I'm scrolling TikTok and my for you page pops up a video of Kale called what's happening on the Farm? Or something like that. And at one point in the video she finds some chicken eggs and takes them to her eggs farm stand. And I think to myself, that looks like the egg stand I was at. And then I see the note that is posted with the phone number and realize that is the egg stand that I was at. When my husband got home from work. I looked at his call log and sure as the number that called us back was Elijah and immediately gave my husband the lore. And he was less than impressed, per no one's surprise. And he said, and that folks, is a story of how I ate Kale Lowry's eggs. I thought that this was like my literal eggs, like in my body and So I was just cracking up. I thought it was funny because red mean. But that specific post was really nice. And so Michelle, Richard sent that to me, and I decided to read it on here. So thank you. If you've stopped at my egg stand. Thank you so much.
Becky Hater
I just want to say that be careful of eating Kale's eggs. That's going to make you fertile and you might get pregnant.
Kailyn Lowry
So imagine it's like Kale's chickens will make you fertile.
Becky Hater
Yeah. Any. Any connection there is, like, beware, truly, truly happen.
Kailyn Lowry
And then I feel like I had. Oh, Becky sent me this picture. I think it was yesterday.
Becky Hater
Okay, hold on. I have a surprise.
Kailyn Lowry
Hi, Leah.
Becky Hater
Look at this farm outfit.
Kailyn Lowry
I love it. Perfect timing. Look at that little farm outfit.
Alessandra
He's like, bro, I was sleeping.
Becky Hater
No, he was just sucking down a tit.
Kailyn Lowry
Oh, he loves that.
Becky Hater
Oh, look at him say bye.
Alessandra
Bye, hand jump.
Kailyn Lowry
Bye, little chicken nugget. Bye.
Becky Hater
Literally, little baby child makes noises.
Alessandra
Oh, well, he's getting ready for his podcast debut.
Kailyn Lowry
Yeah, he just wants to podcast.
Alessandra
Kayak.
Kailyn Lowry
Kayak.
Alessandra
Goodbye.
Kailyn Lowry
Bye, baby boy. Little cutie.
Alessandra
My. I'm moving.
Kailyn Lowry
Where are you going?
Alessandra
Mexico. And no, I just found Guadalajara lady did to her face that I'm unrecognizable. No, this was just.
Kailyn Lowry
I. I just found this. This is from the twins. This is Baby B. Baby A.
Becky Hater
You're definitely, definitely a good clickbait picture.
Alessandra
I'm gonna clip it.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
No, that's so. Just so funny.
Alessandra
I zoom into the date, right?
Kailyn Lowry
Well, actually, I don't think there's a date on here. No, there's literally no date on here at all. So the other day, Becky sent me this picture from when we went to Disney for the half marathon.
Becky Hater
Oh, my God.
Kailyn Lowry
And I didn't realize how big we both were. Like, we really. Like, I had no business running a half marathon that day. And so Becky text me. She says, wild. And I said, becky, we were big. Like, we were big. And she goes, why the fuck didn't people say something?
Becky Hater
But now that I think about it, now that I think about it, people did say something. Because that trip is when we got called Hungry Hungry Hippos.
Kailyn Lowry
Right? That is when we were in the pool. I also had my nipples pierced in this picture. And I'm like, do I really want. Do I want my nipples pierced again? Because that's kind of cute, low key. But this pink is not my color. I understand now fully why I don't wear girly colors, because, I mean, people.
Becky Hater
Wear highlighter colors in General, like, that's not just pink. It's bright pink.
Alessandra
What year was that?
Kailyn Lowry
This was 2018. Like that. I ran that half marathon. I had Luxy in August of 2017 and then ran a half marathon in February of 2018. So Luxy was only, like, six.
Becky Hater
Why are you saying that?
Kailyn Lowry
Saying what?
Becky Hater
Why. Why are you saying it like that?
Kailyn Lowry
Because that's his nickname.
Becky Hater
Since when?
Kailyn Lowry
Since Creed started calling him Luxy.
Becky Hater
Oh, my God.
Alessandra
Is longer than his name, but it's the nickname.
Becky Hater
I feel like I haven't seen my kids in so long that I don't even know what. What's going on anymore.
Kailyn Lowry
Anyways, those are my updates. Couldn't believe that we were that big working on our fitness these days. I know that you've been in the gym. I haven't been in the gym. I'm gonna go in the gym. I also think about buying a bicycle. Don't know where I'm going to ride it, but it sounds. It sounds good.
Becky Hater
I think you should maybe rent one.
Kailyn Lowry
I think I should use the treadmill that I own.
Becky Hater
Yeah, that you don't.
Kailyn Lowry
Like, put it on 12 incline. I have really high hopes for myself. And then. And then I. And then it doesn't work out.
Becky Hater
Yeah, walking out of incline is great for fat loss.
Kailyn Lowry
Fat loss, not weight loss.
Becky Hater
Well, no, because it's not necessarily weight you want to lose. It's the fat you want to burn. You want to build muscle.
Kailyn Lowry
As I'm eating this chocolate bar, I. What are you reading right now?
Becky Hater
Okay. I actually haven't read since Bex was born, and I brought my Kindle to the gym yesterday to read, and I didn't. But I am going to get back into it. Still on the tandem Read for a Throne of Glass series, But I did want to say congratulations on the coffee combos.
Kailyn Lowry
Merch drop Time out. I need to go back.
Becky Hater
Okay.
Kailyn Lowry
Go back to the reading situation. Okay. Alessandra might need your input on this. Becky needs your input on this. Maybe it hasn't affected you because you've been busy with a newborn. If I don't read in the day, I get irritable. Irritable like a fiend.
Alessandra
Well, yeah, because you're probably using it the way that I do, which is to disassociate.
Kailyn Lowry
So I've been behind in my reading goals all year, except for this month. I've read nine books in the month of July. If I'm not reading, I am. Like, don't talk to me when I'm reading.
Becky Hater
That's how I Was in the thick when I, like, wasn't in my reading. Right now, I just. My brain isn't functioning. It's learning how to operate on lack of sleep. So I think once I level out, I'll be back in those.
Kailyn Lowry
No, I'm concerned. Like, there was a time that Kristin was like, kayl, you don't know what's going on in life because all you're doing is, like, read like. But, like, don't ask me a question if I'm. Obviously, I'm not reading when I have my kids and I'm, like, taking care of them.
Becky Hater
But, like, there are worse things in life you can be addicted to. And I will continue to push books for you to be addicted to it.
Alessandra
It's definitely a form of escapism. And because you. You have adhd, I have adhd. Your dopamine seeking constantly and throughout your day, you're also masking a lot. Not intentionally. It's just what people with ADHD do. So if, like, you're having that downtime and you're trying to escape and trying to seek that dopamine, I. Oh, I'm the same way. Don't look at me, don't talk to me. Leave me the alone while I'm reading and I have to read, I get irritable too. But that also happens with all my special interests. Like, at one time it was like learning how to do makeup.
Kailyn Lowry
At one time it was everything interest, all my special. Well, I don't know why that's so funny.
Alessandra
People with neurodivergencies in general, they do that. They like, pick hobbies, put them down. Pick hobbies, put them down. Like, get obsessed with it. And it's because it's giving you dopamine and it's like, literally addicting. It's a loop, you know?
Kailyn Lowry
So I got borderline concerning. Obviously not when I have my children here. I just wanted to say that I'm concerned with myself and I didn't know if it was also happening to other people. Becky Hater
I love it.
Kailyn Lowry
I think it's great. I think it's so cute.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
Look at us with our Stanleys. I was gonna say something to you, but I don't remember what it was. I was really excited to talk today, but now I completely left everything out of my brain because we haven't talked in so long because I try to save stuff for the podcast, but. What the is this? What is this? Who did this?
Alessandra
Me and Chachi pt. I put it in the episode. So go join Patreon. It's in the video version of last week's episode. It's a gif in the episode and it's just you bobbing around in the background.
Kailyn Lowry
Do you think that balloons could hold me?
Alessandra
Yes. But look how good it did. It even put your shirt. The stamp shirt I wore.
Becky Hater
I wore that the other day.
Alessandra
I saw in your stories.
Kailyn Lowry
Honestly, that shirt is really cool. It really is. But I should have bought the 20. It's exactly the same on Amazon. So actually I'll link it and I'll link the dupe.
Becky Hater
I do have something to tell you. I spend above my means. I shouldn't say I spend above my means. I. I don't buy things that are expensive at all. I like to, you know, clothes and things of those sorts. Material things. I buy expensive, like electronic stuff or, I don't know, experiences. All the pictures and all history. You've probably seen me with a necklace on, like this rope. It's a rope When I went to Mexico for Luke's bachelor party, I put my necklace that was my grandfather's into Ryan's fanny pack and it was disappeared. It was sacrificed to Mexico. And so I had it for, I mean, a really long time. I wore it every day. It was a part of. I felt like a part of my identity. So for the past couple months, I haven't had one and like, I really missed it. And so Leah got me a necklace for our nine year anniversary. And it wasn't, it was pretty, it wasn't the same and it was like really short. It was like she, she did her best, really appreciated the effort. And so we went to the store to go exchange it to get this one. Why didn't anyone tell me how expensive jewelry is?
Kailyn Lowry
Oh, it's so expensive. And I have bought exactly what you're wearing for Lux and Creed and they have lost them.
Becky Hater
Dude, this was so expensive. This is the. And then Leah was like, Becky, you wear it every day. You work hard, you're an adult, you deserve a nice piece of jewelry. And I said, yeah, but like this, it kind of makes me sick to think about.
Alessandra
I'm like, is it gold? Yeah, yeah. Gold is extremely expensive.
Becky Hater
And gold's really expensive right now. So.
Alessandra
Yeah, but we're adults. Like fine jewelry. If you think about it, if you bought a less expensive. I learned this, like in my 30s. If you bought a less expensive piece of jewelry, you would be replacing it constantly. I do think that, like, fine jewelry is one of the things that people should. If you have it, don't like, go broke. Don't not pay your bills. Please pay your bills. Don't buy random shit and don't go into credit card debt. But if you have some money, do find jewelry.
Kailyn Lowry
Now that we're on the subject of that, do you have people in your life that will spend whatever to do whatever and then be concerned about how they're going to pay their bills? Or do you surround yourself with people who are going to make sure their bills are paid and not do the fun thing or buy the thing because they're like, I have to pay my bills first.
Alessandra
The latter. I think that comes with age. In my 20s, I definitely, like, did stupid shit all the time and I don't regret it at all. I put myself in debt. I spent money I didn't have, but I also had no responsibilities and no one was suffering because of it. Like, I'm 34. I have responsibilities and goals now, you know, but when I was 20, I. I'm going to pay my car note a week late because I want to pay $250 on this bar tab, but not now. All of my friends are really responsible. They own property. They're really career driven. So not really anymore.
Becky Hater
I feel like I. Like, I don't do things anymore, so I'm not in a position to, like, spend money that I don't have. I was traveling around the world in my 20s, saying yes to everything and inviting my friends to do so. Like, I'm not inviting my friends to take trips all the time.
Kailyn Lowry
But would you be friends with someone today at the big age of almost, what, you're almost 35? Like, would you be friends with someone who just was, like, so irresponsible with their money and like. Or do you not care because it's like, you're like, that's not my problem.
Becky Hater
I guess it depends if they have, like, a family they're trying to support. If someone else's life. I think it's more so, like, I think it's super irresponsible to have children when you can't financially support yourself because it then ultimately sets them up to suffer. Yeah, like, have to take care. Like, take care of you. I think that's just like poor etiquette and not. You don't have to have a lot of money. Just like, if you're. You have to be financially responsible when you have kids just for that. But I don't give a what people do as long as they're like, I don't think I could surround myself with someone that made bad decisions and then complained about all those. Like a complaint about not having money or blah, blah, blah, or all of that. If you're gonna make bad decisions and put yourself in debt, be quiet about it.
Kailyn Lowry
I mean, fair. I just, like, I've removed myself from a lot of situations recently. And, like, when I look at the bigger picture, I'm like, I'm so glad that I did that because those people were not people that I should surround myself with anyway. Like, they're just not. And like, cool. Like, I'm not here to count your pockets. But, like, I also can't associate with people who are doing things like that because, like, if you are, I don't know, it's just.
Becky Hater
I feel like, I think it's just a responsibility thing. But, like, I also, like Alessandra said, like, I spent well above my means in all of my 20s, says it said yes to any everything. But, like, I also quietly paid. Like, my bills were paid, but, like, I had Debt. My. But my debt was being paid, but I never complained. Like, I never made it anyone else's problem about not having money. And I didn't have any responsibilities either in those times.
Kailyn Lowry
Fair. I just like, I have a girlfriend who, I mean, she's a mom and she will say no to things because she wants to make sure her bills are paid first. And I just respect it. And I feel like having those conversations, like she didn't really have to share that with me, but it was something that came up organically while we were together and I really respected her for it because I think we've all been in a place where like, we want to say yes to something. We really want to go, we really want to do this, we really want to buy this. But it's like, okay, this is going to be late. This other bill is going to be late because I want to get this instead. But she was like, you know, I, I can't say yes. I have to. Before I say yes to anything. She was like, I check to see which bills are coming out this week and which bills are coming out next week. And I just thought that was interesting. Like if we all lived like that, we could really all just be so much better off.
Becky Hater
Yes. Becoming financially responsible as has been the best stress relief of my life.
Kailyn Lowry
But I did see this tick tock of this couple and she was like, hey, like, how much money, how much would minimum wage have to be in order to have the same house buying power as the boomer generation? $66 an hour in order to still, people that are not minimum wage don't even make $66 an hour. So like in order to have the same house buying and like I, it's, it's crazy because like I think about being financially stable and having financial literacy, right? And like talking about all these things as we get older because that's what the goal is. Everyone wants generational wealth. People want to travel, but we want to have money, but we don't want to go to work. We want to work from home. We want to do all these things, right? They all sound good. And then you get, you know, on tick tock and it's like, okay, say no to this so you can save money and you can do this. No, literally, the cost of living today is so crazy. It doesn't matter if you say no to this. You still can't afford to do this. Like, you still cannot. You will never be. So it's kind of fucked up. So then when I saw that, I'm like, $66 an hour to have the house buying power that they had then is just insane to me. And I just don't. I'm scared for my children.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry

Really important to bring up on the back of the conversation we were just having. I think it is important to know like the reason some people do spend above their means is just like you said, it doesn't matter. They're still going to have nothing. So why sit in misery and financial literacy and not teaching it in school and having less access to it? In the same way that education is is cyclical, it's societal oppression. It's done on purpose. If we don't keep people poor and like scared, then we don't have people in prison and we don't have people willing to do the grunt work for no money. So it is cyclical, it's societal. So yes, you should be responsible if you're able to. I just wanted to preface that the conversation we're having before, like it's all systemic it's also education levels. Like, if you lived paycheck to paycheck growing up, who was teaching you financial literacy if your parents didn't know you're not learning in school? The average American in this country is over $30,000 in credit card debt alone.
Kailyn Lowry
Well, so I had a conversation yesterday with the Business Insider. They were doing, like, a piece on me or whatever. We were talking about no big deal, things like that. And one of the things that I was saying was that, like, I'm so scared of ending up how I grew up. And so we talked about financial literacy and, like, getting a financial advisor. And I know your sister has, like, helped a ton of people that listen to this show. And, like, I don't know if I could just, like, remind people if they have any free time in the summer, maybe, like, teachers or something, or people that work from home, like, in your free time, like, seriously look into, like, what you can do. But I don't know, it's just been a common theme that's been coming up in my life lately, and so I thought I would bring it up to you.
Becky Hater
Yeah, you don't have to be a prisoner to your own life. Like, there's ways to be able to spend within your means. Enjoy life and, like, as long as you have that guidance and, like, understanding. I made a lot of really bad financial decisions, right? Like consolidating debt with a credit card, but then just using the credit card anyway. And there was just like, a vicious cycle of consolidating debt and, like, spending so much money on that consolidated debt, taking out personal loans to pay for that debt. If you can find someone, if you don't know. And there's so many free resources, too. Use ChatGPT. Use YouTube. Use anything to, like, wait, wait, wait.
Kailyn Lowry
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Speaking of Chat GPT, I sent this to the girlies because, honestly, it's terrifying. Chat GPT CEO says people share personal info with chat GPT, but they don't know that the chats can be used as court evidence in legal cases. And I thought that was so interesting. Conversations with Chat GPT are not protected by confidentiality laws, meaning they could be used as evidence in court if subpoenaed. And. And so this is just Yalls warning to be careful what you guys are saying to Chachi pt, because that's scary. The Internet is scary.
Becky Hater
The Internet is scary. I use ChatGPT every day of my life. I don't put anything on there that's going to incriminate me, though. But good to Know in case I.
Alessandra
Ever thought of the bigger concern with AI, it's the environmental impacts and then how those environmental impacts affect the cities that they're in, which is usually low income bipoc communities, the whole world.
Kailyn Lowry
What do you mean? What do you mean the impact on the.
Alessandra
So the amount of water it takes to cool chatgpt. Like so you know, like all of our data is stored with like computers and different technology. It's not like just somewhere in a cloud. So all the water it takes to keep the machines cool take a lot of water and it's a massive impact on our environment. And then furthermore in the cities that are most in.
Kailyn Lowry
Time out on the play, water is being used for chat GPT.
Alessandra
Yeah. So like when there's a systems with a lot of information there is like a hard drive let's say. So there's technology hard drive.
Kailyn Lowry
Where is said hard drive? Where is it? Who keeps it?
Alessandra
So there's big like picture like a big office with nothing but computers in it.
Becky Hater
Like mainframes. Like big mainframes.
Kailyn Lowry
Did you ever read Wild Dark Shore?
Alessandra
Not yet, no.
Kailyn Lowry
So there's like a seed bank. I'm wondering if it's like that, like they, the way that they store the seeds in the seed bank. Yeah, that is what I'm picturing. They keep it in like a Google.
Alessandra
Yeah. So like when you Google it also takes water but when you Google it takes less water to cool the machines than it does for ChatGPT. And then the cities that these mainframes are homed in are having major environmental impacts in them. And the communities are typically like comprised of low income bipoc people. So it's just very interesting. Like AI in general is very interesting but people villainize AI and I don't think they really understand it because you use AI every day. Like when you use a gps you use AI when you spell correct on your phone that's AI. There's different levels to it, but Chachi Beat specifically does have a very large environment.
Kailyn Lowry
Why is this the first I'm hearing of this? Like I would have had no idea.
Alessandra
Because you live under a rock.
Becky Hater
Yeah, no I don't. I feel like surprising thing that.
Kailyn Lowry
No, because even if I didn't live under a rock in Hartley, Delaware I would not know this. There would be no reason why I would ever know this. This is storing all the servers, individual people's information.
Alessandra
It's how they run the systems. Like you know there's like a, a center in your computer that keeps it running. If you do something on your computer for too long or editing something that's too big for your computer's processor, it'll start getting hot, right?
Kailyn Lowry
Laptop gets hot?
Alessandra
Yes, It'll start overheating. These things do as well. So they have air conditioner, water, things like that, to keep them cooled down so that they don't break down because they're just processing so quickly and so frequently, especially at the rate at which people are using it. My biggest concern with ChatGPT, besides the Internet, is that everyone is dumb. Like, I use Chappie ChatGPT every single day. But the way that some people use it is really concerning. And we have no, like, critical thinking, no separate thinking. It's very scary.
Kailyn Lowry
So I'm not a frequent chatgpt user. I used it once for. Becky showed me how to use it for recipes like meal prepping one time. I never used it again after that. And then I used it one other time for a social media caption. Thought that was great. Loved it. Amazing. Not a chat. I'm just not a technology girly, right? But I say that to say this is highly concerning because I feel like. And I've said this before, I don't know where I've said it, but I know I've said it. It's like, the more just try to follow the bouncing ball, the more money I make, the lazier I am because I can hire people to do. And I'm not doing shit, right? Like, I'm showing up, but I'm not doing shit. I feel dumb, right? Like, I feel so stupid. And I'm not using ChatGPT. So if people are in my position, like me and also using ChatGPT, I don't have any brain cells left for critical thinking. How does someone who's using Chat GPT every single day have brain cells left? I literally know someone who makes a lot of money every single month. And this person literally uses ChatGPT for her job. Like, she's not doing any critical thinking whatsoever. And it's infuriating because I see it on the screen that you use ChatGPT. You did not use this out of your brain. Why is someone paying you? And you're literally using CHAT GPT and then not even tweaking the paragraphs, like, you are literally not even changing the format of the document. It's infuriating. And that is a huge problem because people like moving. Like, I'm thinking about Elliot right when he gets a job or Lincoln gets a job, people are going to be using Chat GPT for The most basic tasks in said field. That's a scary thought.
Alessandra
They already are. The kids are using it for therapy. They're using it for everything. People are using it every day. The thing that you're talking about at work is something that is happening across like the globe. I have to actively fight myself from not using ChatGPT to help me do things because I'm like, I have to figure out how to word that word this myself or my ability to do so is going to be gone. Like if I can't do it alone. And if you're going to use ChatGPT, there's no problem with it. Like I said, I use it every day. It's a very helpful tool. I try to make my prompts very specific so that I'm not asking it too many times so that I'm not having as big of an environmental impact. Like, like, let's talk about the corporations. It's really not on the individual. And then I also try and change it up, right? Like I'm not gonna copy and paste that verbatim and not try and change it. I just think people. That's also why I'm constantly screaming about the kids don't know how to read. They don't know how to read and then they're using ChatGPT. Like, I am freaking out. I've. If anybody listens to Vibe and I have literally freaked out about this so many times. All right, y'.
Becky Hater
All.
Kailyn Lowry

Tempomeals.com karma rules and restrictions may apply. I feel like. Hear me out. Just hear me out. Do you think, do you think people can get sued for not doing their real job and only using chat GPT?
Alessandra
No, because it is such a gray area. I'm so sorry I just made you spiral, but I've been spiraling about this for weeks.
Kailyn Lowry
No, I'm spiraling because this person that I know is lit like the problem with it is that like you can use chat GPT as an asset, as a tool. Right. Like it's supposed to help. But when you're using chat GPT you didn't put any type of actual critical thinking into this. People are paying and companies are paying big money to these people and they're being like, truly, like I'm pissed anyways. I, I'm concerned about the, the trajectory, trajectory of chat GPT now for the environment that I wasn't aware of but also for like truly the well being of people and society and jobs. Like I don't want to go to the emergency room and someone is using chat GPT to diagnose me.
Becky Hater
Well, I think there's going to be easier ways with triaging, quicker ways to help triage people, that AI will help with medical diagnoses. But I don't think it'll be ultimately taking over.
Kailyn Lowry
You'd be sur, I mean it's taking over a lot right now.
Becky Hater
I guess I'm like, I'm biased because I use it every day and it makes me smarter. So.
Kailyn Lowry
But you're using it properly and I, I think people are misusing, misusing chat GPT to literally do their jobs.
Becky Hater
Yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
Instead of like, I could understand if someone was like, okay, give me ideas for, I'll use marketing as an example. Give me ideas for this marketing plan and then you're actually using what, you know, what you learned in school and you're implementing what you're getting off chat GPT.
Becky Hater
Yeah, like not industry matters. Like, like, yeah, trends matter, things of those sorts matter and like real numbers matter.
Kailyn Lowry
Yeah, I, I think that there is a time And a place for ChatGPT. And I think that it can be a helpful tool, but I just. I just worry a little bit. It's sort of like, you know, when iPads came out and screen time, and now my kids are getting Chromebooks at school. Like, my first grader, you know, when Lux was in first grade, he's going to third now, but he came home with a Chromebook. Like, I just. Like, you're worried about kids not being able to read, and then you're sending them home with computers that they don't need to be on. If I don't have give my kid an iPad, what the makes you think I want them to have a Chromebook valid, go outside, go touch grass and read a real book. Like, a real one.
Alessandra
Well, speaking of books, have you heard the discourse on books? Book talk of people using AI to write books and then just not saying that and selling the books written by timeout.
Kailyn Lowry
That is insane that you just brought that up. That's so insane. I was reading a book the other day on my little Kindle and it looked so much like Chat GPT, like the actual format of the book with the long dashes and shit like that. And like, I do understand that there is a time and place for those long dashes, but I was just like, there is no way that this wasn't done with Chat GPT. And I was like, this is. I don't want to read. Like, if I think that if I'm reading this book for this specific author because I love and support this author, I don't want to read something from ChatGPT because I can go on ChatGPT myself and say, hey, write me a novel that sounds like so and so. I can do that myself. I don't want. I want it to come out of their brains. Like, I'm scared. Like, this is not a fun time.
Becky Hater
Kel, do you know that that video that you sent me of the bear jumping on the trampoline?
Kailyn Lowry
Yeah.
Becky Hater
You know that's AI right?
Kailyn Lowry
Are you serious? Are you serious? Don't do that. That. Don't. Don't do that. I was really excited about that.
Becky Hater
Yeah, like that and the bunny rabbits jumping on the trampoline.
Kailyn Lowry
From now on, everything that I do wrong was AI one good use of.
Becky Hater
AI that I've found on the Internet. Have you been on YETI side of AI at all?
Kailyn Lowry
No, but I'm trying to find. If anyone knows where I can find a Yeti Camino 35 bag, please let me know.
Becky Hater
No clue what that is.
Kailyn Lowry
It's a bag, like a. Like a tote. And I. I'm looking for one, but they're sold out everywhere. It's a Yeti Camino 35.
Becky Hater
Okay, well, a yeti, like Sasquatch and like, gorilla set, like, where they.
Kailyn Lowry
Wait, a yeti is an animal?
Becky Hater
Yes.
Kailyn Lowry
Let me Google it. Yeti, animal. I don't think that's real. Oh, it's like a Bigfoot. Were they real? Are they real? No, they never existed.
Alessandra
No, but we're just finding out about them. They might have. Wait, can you go back to the Yet AI and. And Bigfoot again?
Becky Hater
Yeah, I'm bringing it up. I'm bringing up an example.
Alessandra
Korea very concerned about that.
Becky Hater
I've realized that I'm. I like teeter on the. Like, what men see on TikTok, so it makes me feel sick.
Alessandra
Not feel sick. I'm crying.
Becky Hater
You've never seen any of these? No, no.
Kailyn Lowry
My favorite AI trend is babies. The podcasters.
Alessandra
Oh, yeah.
Kailyn Lowry
I recently saw Corinna Fall Gary as a baby.
Alessandra
Please make a baby podcast clip of Kale and Becky. That's beyond my capabilities, but somebody can do it.
Kailyn Lowry
Do the. We have to make us as babies. Like, but make me cute. I want to be cute.
Becky Hater
Ridiculous.
Kailyn Lowry
I'm so excited. I.
Becky Hater
Let me just. Let me tell you this to wrap up this AI conversation. If anyone's listening and are like, Becky, how are you properly counting macros? How are you getting idea, like, all this stuff? I use AI for all of it. I have an app that I track it, but if I need an idea or if I have a certain amount of macros left in my day, I plug it into AI and I say, hey, can you give me a meal that fills up the rest of my macros for the day? What does that look like? Yesterday, in my mind, I. I'm not burning enough fat. And I. And I'm getting really disappointed with myself. So I. I was like, oh, maybe if I just start running, let me add some running into my thing. But I. I went to. I found a fitness chat GPT that was customly built out, and I said, what's. What's the best thing to add to my workouts for fat loss? And I said that in the. Actually, I quoted myself in the beginning of this episode. Should I run, like, two miles or whatever it is? Should I walk? Should I bike? Should I use the StairMaster? What is the best thing for me to do for someone that is also weightlifting and. And getting strong, they say they. It said the best thing to do without taking away from weight or strength building and fat and best thing for fat loss is walking at an incline. So better than running. I would have ran and pissed myself off and so now I I'm adding 30 minutes of walking at an incline to my daily workouts.
Kailyn Lowry
Well, I'm gonna start doing that too because I do have the treadmill so we'll see if I actually do it. I say I'm gonna do it.
Becky Hater
Access to any resources that you may need in life.
Kailyn Lowry
And on that note, do we have a Is it Karma or Is it Chaos? Becky, I'll let you read the Is it karma or is it chaos?
Becky Hater
That is so kind of you. Like how generous. If you're listening and you want us to read your Is it karma or is it chaos? You can write in at info at karma and chaos podcast.com Is it karma or is it chaos? Hi Kaylan Becky sending this all the way from Melbourne, Australia. We love you.
Kailyn Lowry
We'll see you soon.
Becky Hater
We love you Kamaru. I love you both. I love both of you, your podcast and also love your opinion. Would love your opinion on this. Please keep it Anonymous Trigger Warning Miscarriage Pregnancy Loss earlier this year I was pregnant. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage and was leaning on my friends in this time of grief for support. One of my friends who I've known for 15 plus years said something really hurtful. My baby had down syndrome and my doctor believed this may be part of the reason why my baby passed. When I shared this with my friend she said, wow, I was expecting your child to have autism. My niece is autistic. The is wrong with people. At that time I was still processing processing a lot of emotion emotionally so I didn't think anything to say. I didn't think to say anything. It did hurt me but I wasn't sure if it was just everything that I was going through. Hormones, etc. Some months have now passed and every time I speak with her or see her it takes me back to that moment when she said those things to me. Since then she has also made comments on my husband and I starting to try for a baby again. She is currently single and said that she thought I would wait for her to find a partner, get married, etc and then we could have babies together. We're all in our 30s, I've been with my husband for almost 10 years and we're ready to start this next chapter of our lives. When I told her this she broke down crying saying I saying I'm selfish and not taking her feelings into consideration. I've Tried to distance myself from her because in all honesty, I don't want to be her friend at this stage of my life. All I can think of is if I do get pregnant, will she be expecting my child to have some form of disability? To me those things don't matter. But she is a nurse and can sometimes be a bit blunt and forceful with her opinions on things, especially if there is something medical involved. Involved. Will she also make me feel guilty for moving forward in my life? I have other friends who aren't at the same stages life as me, but they only give me love and support. I don't understand why she is different. I don't know whether I should cut her off completely or just keep her at a distance as I have been doing the last couple months. If I choose to cut her off, how do I go about this? Whoa.
Kailyn Lowry
So it sounds like if she's been already keeping her at a distance and it's still stressing her out, my opinion is to just cut her off completely. For someone to say, oh, I thought your child was going to have autism. Like you're fucked up, like you're a fucked up. And also just to expect someone to wait for you to have like a child and like do all of that. Like you're not fucking me or financing me or feeding me or doing any of that and you think I'm going to wait for you? Like obviously I think, and maybe it's not obvious to everybody but like I think that there are friends and sisters and cousins who are like, oh, we want to get pregnant at the same time. And that's like the hope, right? Like me and Sterling tried to get pregnant at the same time, I lost mine. She kept her like her baby went full term and I had a miscarriage. Like, and it was sad but like to sit there and be like, oh, like I thought you were gonna wait. Like, what planet are you?
Becky Hater
Okay, you know, people don't have to talk, right? Like you don't have to respond. Like that is one of the most up things I've read in a really long time. And honestly my mind just goes to maybe your friends a little in love with you and jealous of your life and your situation. Not that it makes it okay, but I agree. I think that maybe you should try to distance them a little more before you have that conversation of a hard cut off. Because having that conversation put adds like a weight to you that like you don't really need. So maybe start just distancing them more if they say anything that's Triggering you put them in their place in that moment. But also, I know you're human and I know you're probably. People need to get things off their chest. So, like, you being disappointed in her for what she said is probably going to be needed to be said to her at some point for you to be able to heal and move forward. So think about it. Maybe you write up a nice letter and give her the opportunity to change. Like, but explain how she hurt you and if she comes back in a selfish way. Cut, Cut.
Kailyn Lowry
You're giving way more grace than me. Well, yeah, that's because I'm not writing a letter. This is how I feel. Take it or leave it. And I'm not writing a letter. It's like you've. That's. That's insane.
Becky Hater
Writing a letter is more healing for her, right? She has.
Kailyn Lowry
Oh, true.
Becky Hater
She has all this pain to. That she needs to get out. And like, writing a letter could help release that pain. Giving. Giving the girl the option to. To make a change or not.
Kailyn Lowry
Okay, fair. I just am like. Like, I remember being in a situation where Sterling, her baby went full term and I miscarried. And I never said. Obviously I was like, like, damn, like, why did I have to lose my baby? But also I was happy for her. You know what I mean? Like, I was excited for. Like, I would never be like, oh, well, I don't know. Like, I just feel like that's so weird.
