Becky Tobin
Welcome back everyone to another episode of Karma and Chaos.
Kale Lowry
Little bit of emotionally charged energy this morning in Indianapolis and unfortunately life Lifes right like has hit the fan left and right this week. And I am so sorry that it's
not me this time.
It's Becky.
Becky Tobin
And here we are. We're gonna get through this. My first question to you is tell me about your dirty soda experience.
Kale Lowry
Let me tell you about so dirty
sodas right now are my entire personality. So like if there ever was a kale that had an original idea in any world I would wish that it was the dirty sodas because when I
went to your house.
What was that? Last week had my first dirty soda. I have not stopped drinking dirty soda since then. I'm in Indianapolis. Our first show is tonight and I'm so glad that it's you. That's my guest. I would not have wanted it any other way.
Been in three states in 24 hours.
So apparently Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky try to follow the bouncing ball here. Okay, I'm going to get back to. I'm going to circle back to the dirty sodas. So we're like, oh, we can fly into Indianapolis. And then I'm going to do a podcast swap with Gabby, go to Meg's hair salon, Olive and Ivy, which is so cute, by the way.
It's in Ohio. Right?
So fly into Indianapolis. It's only a two hour drive to
Kentucky and Ohio and they're literally.
You cross the street and you're in another state.
Becky Tobin
How long? How. Oh, two hour drive.
Kale Lowry
So it was. We flew in at a pretty decent time
in the morning, 6am we leave
our hotel, we go to Ohio and I just like, wait, so we have to go to Kentucky after this?
Unidentified Female Participant
You.
Kale Lowry
We came all. We drove two hours to Ohio to come, then turn around and drive to. I was like, no, it's literally down the street. And he was like, oh. So we were in three states yesterday. And so before we leave, Gabby and Meg, they're like, you have to go to Skyline to get chili and hot dogs and chili spaghetti or whatever. Right. It's like this Ohio store. Yeah. And so I'm like, what the. Like, okay, we'll do it.
And they have dirty sodas.
And so I'm like, oh, my God, I live for dirty sodas.
Since last week.
Like, call me Kale Dirty soda Lowry. And I'm so excited about it. Get there. I could give a less Couldn't give a less more about the Coneys, which is apparently a hot dog because I'm so fixated on the dirty soda. On the dirty soda. So, like, they're excited to see my reaction to these chili dogs and chili spaghetti. And I order a second dirty. So I'm getting diabetes after this.
Becky Tobin
Can you tell me what a dirty soda is?
Kale Lowry
Okay. Allegedly, do not take this as word.
Okay.
This is not Bible. Allegedly, the Mormon community came up with dirty sodas. Okay, okay.
Becky Tobin
And soaking and every.
Kale Lowry
And what?
Becky Tobin
Soaking?
Kale Lowry
What is soaking?
Becky Tobin
Or is that the Amish?
Kale Lowry
I think that's the Amish.
Becky Tobin
No, I think it's. Anyway, keep going.
Kale Lowry
So I Guess the lore is they can't have hot caffeine or they can't have caffeine or something. They created dirty sodas, which is a soda with some sort of like syrups and like cold foam. And it's just like a good time. It's like a fun drink. Right?
And I did not know that dirty sodas existed until last week.
So I'm upset because why didn't I think of that? Why didn't I think of a dirty soda truck? And then after I posted the one at your house, a company in Delaware has like a mobile bar sort of event set up for dirty sodas. And so then I was upset because I was like, I could have had that for Lincoln for the last day of school to go away, but I didn't have it in time. So now my plan for when he come home before we go to London
is have like a little pool party for him with the dirty soda truck.
Becky Tobin
I think that's a great idea. When you said that you feel like you've missed out, that's how I felt about French onion soup. I didn't eat French onion soup for all of my life. I think I was 21 when I ate a French onion soup for the first time. And then after I ate it, I was like, holy. I've missed out on this my entire life. And I've eaten French on nose soup every chance I can get ever since.
Kale Lowry
How was your flight?
Becky Tobin
Well, my flight was interesting because I got onto the flight, it was a 8pm flight. So I boarded the flight at like 7:30. I fell asleep. I was exhausted because. Because Bex had a rough night or he woke up really early. And so I was exhausted and I got into the flight, I fell asleep instantly and then woke up after like 10, 15 minutes, which gave me like, you know, when you take like a cat nap, it gives you a burst of energy when in reality I really wanted to sleep the rest of the flight. So I was up for a little bit and then the girls behind me were talking so loud and they had to been, I would say, high school. And they were laughing and giggling and playing Uno. And at first I got annoyed, but then I had to regroup and I said, wow, I'm so jealous of them sitting next to their friend just laughing and giggling right now. Like, why wouldn't they be laughing and giggling on an 8pm flight? Why would they need to be quiet and just like keep to themselves? So age really does humble you. Because that would have been me if I was sitting next To a friend. And that was me. When me and Tommy took a flight to for the Mother's Day challenge, everyone else was quiet and the two of us were just sitting there giggling, having the time of our life, kicking our feet. So that's how. How my flight was nice and quick. Two and a half hours got here. Nothing better than getting off a flight. I had no clue how far a hotel was from the airport.
Kale Lowry
Nothing.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, nothing better than getting off, getting an uber and seeing 20 minute drive to.
Kale Lowry
That was so nice. I was so thankful for that. Yeah, I was. So thank. It was a really seamless flight for us as well. To go from Philly to Indianapolis, get our stuff and go to the hotel. It was like, you know, some airports is like a whole adventure.
Becky Tobin
Oh yeah.
Kale Lowry
And I'll literally just jump in front of traffic because I'm pissed off, you know, like, it's not a fun time. It was seamless. I've loved Indianapolis and I'm so surprised by Indianapolis because we got here and I was like, how the does a place like Indiana have more than Delaware?
Like, when I'm looking out the window,
I'm like, there's more here. And like, you think the Midwest is like, when I picture Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, I'm thinking like, we're talking about cornfields. But that's literally where I live in Delaware, where I don't really know what
Becky Tobin
I expected, but I am pissed at everyone listening that is familiar with Indianapolis, Indiana, because I saw a comment after I landing that landing after I landed that said, why would you guys come during tornado season?
Kale Lowry
Let's talk about it. Let's talk about. I did not know tornadoes hit down right here, right? I'm thinking tornadoes. Oklahoma, Texas, okay, Maybe Kansas.
Right?
We get an alert. We're driving back from Ohio, slash Kentucky last night after we hang out with Gabs, right?
We get this thing on the radio because there's no.
We didn't hook up our phones. And it's like, like this like weather warning. And we're like, what the is that? Turn it up. Shelter, Find shelter. Go into a basement. And then we look out the window and see the beginning formations of a goddamn tornado. And I'm like, I thought this was all fake news. Like, I did not know. We see that.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, that's a. That's a tornado starting, right?
Kale Lowry
And so I sent it to book club as, as anyone would you send
it to your book club?
And they're like, yeah, Kale, it's tornado season. And they send me the news and it said, Last week, Indiana had confirmed 21 tornadoes last week.
Becky Tobin
Maybe we won't leave alive then.
Kale Lowry
You know what?
Take me out. Spit me out in another state. Okay. I'm down to be on the next leg of tour because it sounds like this one already is insane. I also didn't realize. Okay, so Becky's not coming on my next tour date tomorrow, right? In real time is tomorrow. She's like, hey, like, where am I sleeping tonight?
Never crossed my mind. Never crossed my mind.
I calls the front desk and they're like, yeah, there's one room left and you have to book it online right now.
Becky Tobin
Just not a priority to people these days.
Kale Lowry
You know, I just was thinking that we were all leaving and I don't know. But we are gonna make the best of it.
Becky Tobin
We are going to make the best of it and we will see how we come out of this.
Kale Lowry
Can I tell you about a documentary that we watched?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. Wait, can I just. I have something I want to ask about a plane before we move, just because I already talked about a plane.
Kiana
Okay.
Becky Tobin
Is that okay?
Kale Lowry
Yeah.
Becky Tobin
I saw this TikTok and it was. This guy was 6, 9, and he was, like, doing a vlog of what it's like to fly. And he was flying Ryanair, I think it was, and which is like a spirit. The spirit of Europe. He was, like, going up to the desk to make sure he could potentially get two seats next to each other. One that's not open. And the comments were pretty. Like, what is it called when people are against, like, back and forth, like, split 5050, like, they were saying, like, someone like that should have to buy two seats because he doesn't fit in one seat. And I'm thinking to myself, but he was, like, overweight. No, he was six, nine. He was tall. And it's like, why should he have to buy two seats? Like, it's not his fault.
Kale Lowry
He's tall, but two seats is not
going to help his length.
Becky Tobin
Well, it allows for him to put his legs and, like, sit sideways. Like, he has to. Like, he has to sit sideways. He can't sit forward, so his legs would be in front of the second seat. That's how he flies. He has to have two seats. But, like, he hopes that he can get two seats without having to buy them. And I don't think he should have to buy two seats. I think that there should be an option, like a height option, arguably a weight option. I think there should be an option that they get two seats for one price or a discounted Second seat.
Kale Lowry
Okay, that's. I get for. For weight or height, I think you should be able to get a discounted second seat at the very least or like some sort of. Because you cannot and arguably about your weight as well. Sometimes there's a health condition and you literally cannot.
Unidentified Female Participant
You.
Kale Lowry
You can't do anything about it. I mean, you can't help your height. Like, what are you supposed to do about that? It's not really fair. So we're some people saying like, yes,
he should have to had a.
Becky Tobin
Bought like a second seat. And it's just like why there should be an option for someone in that scenario to request a second seat. That's my feelings.
Kale Lowry
All right.
Everyone I know is talking about GLP1s and I was this close to trying them until I remembered that I'm not great with needles and I prefer more natural options over injections. So if you've ever heard of Zempic but don't want the side effects, listen
up, because if you spend thousands of
dollars a month on GLP1s, you don't have to do that anymore. With Verac, something works. But if you can't stay on it forever, the next sponsor that I'm about to say will get you to get the same results. Okay, Everyone I know stopped using Zempic and gained their weight back. Kale Lowry
Would it be discriminatory? Discriminatory for planes, we'll say newer models. Right. To create a row or two or, or a couple rows or a couple seats where instead of the three in economy, it's like two for people that have height or weight situations. And it is like maybe a little bit more expensive of a price, but it's like a more.
Becky Tobin
Not as much as first class.
Kale Lowry
Right. Because like, like I said, depend regardless. Like they're gonna make their money. I just don't like. That's weird.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
My first COUSIN Ryan is 15 years old and he is 59 or he's. Sorry, he is 6 9.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
And he's a child. So his. My aunt and uncle should have to pay for two seats because their minor child is six nine. Like that sounds crazy to me.
And I'm.
And obviously I'm using an example that's close to home for me. But like Ryan can't help it and he's a child. So like.
And he's a child because I. I don't know.
That just feels weird to me.
Becky Tobin
All right, tell me about.
Kale Lowry
Okay, so months ago on Tick Tock, this case goes viral of a woman who cuts her friend's baby out of her stomach. Both the baby and the mother die. She goes to the hospital and claims that this is her baby. Whole time you come to find out that she actually had a hysterectomy. So she could not have had. She did not take care of the two children she already had. Meets this new guy, tells him he's pregnant, fakes the entire pregnancy. Anyways, I see a lot of this story on Tick Tock. A while back it was covered on Tick Tock. Well, they do an a documentary on Netflix called Maternal Instincts. And it tells the whole story about like this compulsive liar, like truly compulsive. They go through this entire thing. The entire documentary is about 90ish minutes and it's everybody close to her talking about it. She is now the youngest person on death row in Texas. For her crimes, she becomes a photographer for this woman's wedding. And this woman gets pregnant with a baby girl. She then goes to hang out with said girl. Her name is Reagan. And Reagan has a little girl. She gets remarried. She has a great family. Seems like truly full of life. Reagan trusts Taylor. Taylor is now 10 months pregnant because she has no plan for how she is going to acquire a child because everyone is on to her about not being pregnant. She then goes to the house, she performs a C section. A C section on this woman. Reagan takes the baby out, carries the baby attached with the placenta in the car, speeding, gets pulled over, said she had the baby in the car. They do an exam. She's had a hysterectomy. We watch this on Netflix.
Becky Tobin
There's so many things that, like, did she, like, knock the person out to give him a C section?
Kale Lowry
No.
Becky Tobin
And then, like, how are you able to, like, do the act of doing a C section?
Kale Lowry
She, like, stabs her multiple times. But also, like, from the documentary, it looks like maybe they did their. Maybe they did. Looked on her computer and saw that she was, like, looking up. Had a performance section.
Becky Tobin
Just. We need a. A meteor to hit, you know, and wipe us all out. Let's all. Let's just let them start again.
Kale Lowry
Somebody in book club. Shout out to the turtle girlies. I love y'.
Unidentified Female Participant
All.
Becky Tobin
Shout out to you guys.
Kale Lowry
Message me on our group chat. Well, not message me. Just message in the group and say that some of the people from the documentary are now on socials. I guess the alleged father that was supposed to be the father of Taylor's baby is on Tick Tock saying he wants to go on a podcast. So I go, okay, bet. Who do you think called me while you were laying in bed?
Becky Tobin
Laying in bed crying. The baby dad?
Kale Lowry
No, the friends of the baby dad. They say that Wade. His name is Wade, is on socials now. I. My guess is that they probably couldn't go on socials until after the documentary. Yeah. So I don't know that for sure. So I get on the. I get on social on Tick Tock and see that Stephanie, who is one of the good friends of this girl who did this, is on live. And she follows me. So I message her. I'm like, hey, want to have them come on my podcast? So I say all this to say I'm planning to head to Texas to record with them and also do some hog.
Becky Tobin
I love how, like, an idea just pops up and the opportunity presents itself and, okay, we're in Texas. Texas next week.
Kale Lowry
So I literally. And so Rebecca texts me. She goes, school summer or school year, go literally next week. Like, this cannot wait.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, you gotta. You gotta get it while it's hot.
Kale Lowry
Like, I want to see them for all of the pain that they have gone through. And truly Reagan's family as well. Like, I'm not just talking about, you know, Wade and Corey and Stephanie. I'm talking about Reagan's family as well. Like, I really hope that there is something that they can do. It's not gonna. It's not gonna take their pain away for what happened to Reagan and, And. And Braxlin, the unborn child. But maybe. Maybe they could make money on socials. Maybe they could make money on merch or something where they. I don't know. But I have to go down there.
Becky Tobin
You have to.
Kale Lowry
I have to. And you have to watch the documentary.
Becky Tobin
Can't make any promises, but, I mean,
Kale Lowry
I basically summed it all up for you.
Becky Tobin
Yeah. So I feel like I don't need to watch it. The baby didn't survive, you said, Right?
Kale Lowry
The baby did not survive. The baby did make it to the hospital. Survived until the hospital, but did not make it at that point. Oh, yeah. And she, like, was lying already before the mom was actually reaching out to everybody, trying to explain that her daughter was a pathological liar.
Becky Tobin
So she was just.
Kale Lowry
The mom was trying to save everyone,
Plan B Contraception Advertiser
man.
Becky Tobin
That's. What kind of mental illness is that?
Kale Lowry
That's a great question because it's giving. But, like, you also didn't take. I wanna. I. I wish there was more.
Becky Tobin
It sounds like psychosis, but, like, I
Kale Lowry
wish there was more on the other two kids, because where was that dad and who had. Or those dads? I don't know if it was one or two, but the mom, I guess, of Taylor Parker. What, didn't want her granddaughter to be taken from her, but didn't say anything about the grandson. So I don't know if there was two different dads. Like, I don't know what that looked like. The whole thing was absolutely insane. And I truly feel bad for every single person involved, but Taylor Parker is the youngest person now on death row.
Becky Tobin
You better start getting your questions ready.
Kale Lowry
Oh, I.
Becky Tobin
Was she on. On it at all, the girl that's in jail?
Kale Lowry
No, this has been 2026. Can go straight to hell. Yeah, I am actually. I'm not even. I don't want 2027. I want 2028. Like, if we could fast forward to 2028, I would be forever grateful. Like, we can skip 2027 altogether just because 20 require a lot of digging deep to heal from 2026. So if we could actually just skip all of that, it would be.
Becky Tobin
That would be great. I'd appreciate that as well.
Kale Lowry
Well, on a lighter note, Becky thought that the TV said that Kayin was the director of this show, but it just says, welcome kin to Hilton honors.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, I was like, what a coincidence of being here and the TV being on.
Kale Lowry
I'll be a TV producer in 2028. That's all that's manifest. Interesting.
Becky Tobin
There was an interesting message that I got about your episode. I'm for the haters. We haven't talked about post, post, recording post with such great feedback.
Kale Lowry
So in the midst of our things, our camera almost died right now.
So we're back.
We didn't get to talk about for the haters response. And you did such a great job
Becky Tobin
and I'm so proud of you and I'm so sorry that that is the way that your life started.
Kale Lowry
First of all, I texted Becky and said thank you because thank you for even taking the time to do that with me. When we were in the car yesterday, I saw a comment from a woman I. Did I talk about her on the episode.
Becca Tobin
You have?
Juan Naula
Yeah.
Becky Tobin
You've talked about her before and you talked about her on the episode.
Kale Lowry
So she is somewhat. Her name is Nancy and she comments on things. So I think it would be okay for me to mention Nancy used to sew my mom's cheerleading uniforms when my mom was in high school. And she commented on your picture of me crying from this episode. It's on the for the haters Facebook. And she said, I know all of. She says, I know this is all true. I only wish I knew how bad it was. I would have fought for you in court and legally adopted you. I think it's inexcusable that some members of your family did not step in. I just don't get it. There were many family members related to the Irwins, which is my mom. My mom's an Irwin that had the means to get involved. I'm so sorry, Kaylin. I just didn't know how bad it was. How can you forgive so many people that let you down? And in some ways, like, that's what I was talking about with the ebbs and flows of, like, forgiveness, but, like, also understanding where other people were. But despite how up like anybody's, like, in my family, extended family, how maybe dysfunctional any of them were, they all had the means to do it.
Juan Naula
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
And it's not like they didn't already have kids, but like, on one hand it's like, I see because they already
had their own stuff.
But on the other hand, I mean, I have seven kids.
And if.
If any singular person needed me to take in their kids for any amount of time, like, as long as they're not a threat to my other children, I would do it.
Becky Tobin
Yeah. I was thinking we. I was in a situation once of someone I knew where they had someone that their Kids might needed a place to sit and there wasn't even hesitation or question of it, of like if I would take a kid, a child in.
Kale Lowry
You know, there was, I talked about, I think on, I don't know where I talked about it at this point, but a little girl was murdered by her dad in Smyrna. And I'm like, well, where are the brothers going? Yeah, like we're, I mean, even if it's just temporary or, you know, I don't know where the brothers are going. I. I'll take them.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry

Someone DM me something interesting about your episode that I wanted to bring up. And they were connecting the dots of how triggering it is for you, for people now that make money off of you, that choose to make money off of you and how, like, that's always like a. Like a defense for you to say, like, well, they're gonna make money off me about all this stuff. And she. And she connected it back to your mom making money off you in that, like, with the abortion. And I was like, oh, like, that's when it started. And I was like,
Kale Lowry
no, because, like, I feel, like, tingle. I don't have chills, but I can, like, feel tingles from that.
Becky Tobin
And, like, so, like, you, like, that's all you knew of. People around you was making, like, money from that.
Kale Lowry
What is so interesting about that? I have to give my mom her flowers. And the fact that, like, what a
Becky Tobin
weird way to put it.
Kale Lowry
She's never asked me for a dime. My mom has never in. In this entire journey outside of her profiting off of my horrible situation and making 3, 400 bucks from me getting on TV at 17. Up until now, she has never asked me for a single dime. So, like, how, like, that's also crazy to me.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
And, like, in some way, like, I'm thankful for that. But then everybody else has profited. You know what I mean? We're good. We're back. We're back that we're having some technical difficulties. Alessandra is not here for help. And so we're just.
Becky Tobin
We're just having difficulties all around.
Kale Lowry
Truly. It's like, personal and also technical, you know?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. Let me see what else I got on my list for you today. If you have. If you're listening and you haven't listened to Kale's episode on for the haters, you should go listen. But the time this comes out, part two will come out too.
Kale Lowry
Oh, I forgot there was a part two.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
Is it on Sundays? Yeah, Sundays on Patreon.
Becky Tobin
Mondays Sundays, Saturday on Patreon. This is the only episode I put on Patreon.
Kale Lowry
You said you weren't hungry. I just heard your stomach grumble.
Becky Tobin
I didn't say. I just said if I ate, I would throw up. And I normally don't eat breakfast.
Kale Lowry
I missed that part. I always eat in the morning, but it's definitely not breakfast. I would rather eat, like, real food all day. I don't. I'm not a breakfast girly. So, like, the crepes thing, I don't even know why I did that.
Becky Tobin
But guys, please don't leave any negative comments on this episode, okay?
Kale Lowry
I promise you. Like, we. We cannot take any more. There's.
There's.
Becky Tobin
Speaking of negative comments, it's so interesting to me. Like, the. And I posted this on the. For the haters group. But, like, I'm, like, typically so good at dealing with feedback. I've received feedback well. But, like, truly in life, you cannot make everyone happy. And it's really hard to bout, like, being. Putting, like, things that you create out there because there's always going to be feedback on both sides. You can never make everyone happy in it. Yeah. And it's such an interesting feeling for me because, like, I want to make every. Want to make everyone happy or explain myself. And you do it too, and you want to, like, explain yourself. Like, people are like. Like a lot of people are. Not a lot.
Becca Tobin
Right?
Becky Tobin
Like, 95 of the feedback of. For the haters and the new style is great, but then there's the 5% that's like, oh, like, just let the person talk. And I'm like, yeah, I've been doing that and it wasn't working. And like, now everyone loves this. But, like, one singular person is saying they don't like it, and I'm like, am I doing this wrong? Is this the right decision? Someone's like, oh, your voice sounds. It doesn't sound like you. And I'm like, yeah, that's the. That's kind of the point. Right? Like, I'm not happy talking about someone's worst part of themselves. Like, I'm adding my reflection, adding my, like, empathy into the episode. And I don't know. It's been a week, man. Let's. Let me tell you what. What can I do to bring happiness to my life?
Kale Lowry
I thought you were pretty happy.
Becky Tobin
I thought. I thought I was pretty happy.
Kale Lowry
You are. No, you literally are.
Becky Tobin
I am. I'm good.
Kale Lowry
This is just gonna be. This is a rough time right now, and I think a lot of people
can resonate with that.
I think so many people right now are in a up place and I'm in a up place. I have been posting on Facebook about being in a up place. The other day I came home to Ike and I. I didn't have a bad Friday and Saturday, but when I got home, I was in a fucked up place. Like, I don't know what it is.
Becky Tobin
I think we just need like a reset. And I also think that for us it's a lot of, like, when's enough enough? Like, how much more do we need to give and get to, like, it's a weird. It's a very complex and weird feeling, you know, because, like, I. I don't know. I don't know what the answer is anyway. Did you know that there's a whole whale species we have not seen and.
Kale Lowry
Are you okay?
Are you okay?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. Did you know that? That there's a whole entire species that can be heard in the ocean but has never been seen?
Kale Lowry
Why do we know that? How do you know that?
Becky Tobin
I saw a tick tock.
Kale Lowry
Well, why do they think that?
Becky Tobin
Because they've heard it. They've heard the sounds that it makes and could never identify or find it.
Kale Lowry
That feels hard to believe.
Becky Tobin
Should I fact check?
Kale Lowry
Yeah, I would love more information about that.
Becky Tobin
Is there a whale. Is there a whale species that we have not seen but has always been heard, documented?
AI Assistant or Researcher
That's a fascinating question. Let me search for info.
Becky Tobin
Oh. Oh, it was.
Kale Lowry
I heard it. Hear the voice.
Becky Tobin
Can you, can you tell me what you found?
AI Assistant or Researcher
Yeah. So the most famous case is the 52 Hz whale, often called 52 blue. It's an individual whale in the North Pacific that's been recorded calling at this really unusual frequency, 52 hertz, which is higher than any other whale species responds to. Scientists have tracked it for decades, but they've never actually seen it. Nobody knows what species it is, whether it has a physical difference that makes its voice that high, or if it's maybe even a hybrid. It's become kind of this cultural icon of isolation. The loneliest whale in the world.
Kale Lowry
Okay, so it's kale in whale form.
Got it.
Unidentified Female Participant
Yeah.
Juan Naula
Literally.
Becky Tobin
What went to the. Why did it have to do that to us?
Kale Lowry
Wait, but like, so who's to say it's an actual whale? Who say it's just alien, like a creature of some sort?
Becca Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
Cool. That's kind of cool. That's kind of fascinating.
Becky Tobin
Isn't that cool?
Kale Lowry
Yeah, but like, also, if you really look at like humans, right, like, there are things that some humans like have or do that is like very unique. It's like a one in a all of the human species and they're still a human. So like maybe it is a whale that just does something different.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, maybe. But it's crazy that for decades.
Kale Lowry
I mean decades is crazy to not be able to.
Becky Tobin
But I mean the ocean is endless.
Kale Lowry
Yeah, Yeah.
Becky Tobin
I also saw this conspiracy person that was saying how there's actually like the Earth. Earth was created by like aliens and as like an experiment and like the people here, like the high up people here actually know about it, but it can never come true. Like it can never be talked about or told because it would dismantle any type of organized religion. And if organized religion is dismantled, the entire world would end. Because people felt like are good. A lot of people stay good because of their faith.
Kale Lowry
Interesting. On the topic of conspiracies then.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
Lux is laying in my bed one day, this was literally last week. And he says, if you put water on a plate, what happens? And I'm like, it rolls off okay, but if you put it in a bowl, what happens? And I'm like, I don't know. It stays in the bowl. And he's like, so the world is flat, right,
AI Assistant or Researcher
because of the shape holding it. That's. Yeah.
Becky Tobin
Okay, that's actually didn't mean to be. Didn't mean to leave you on there.
Kale Lowry
I don't know. I have the video I recorded him saying. I had him say it again so he could explain from his perspective. But basically he was saying like
Becky Tobin
I've said this before. I watched a flat earth documentary.
Kale Lowry
Maybe it was the. He was saying the opposite. Like I can't remember what he was saying. I have a video. I have the video. But like for an 8 year old to think that way, I don't know if he saw a video that made him think probably.
Becky Tobin
I mean it's. It's logical, a logical thought.
Kale Lowry
But like the way that he was describing, like if it was flat, then it would roll, the water would roll off. But then like a sphere, same thing. But. But then it's like how do you explain what gravity is to an eight year old?
Becky Tobin
Yeah, it's such a logical, like I think it's an incredible thought process for him to be having. I also watched a flat earth documentary and could have been convinced that the earth was flat.
Kale Lowry
So I'm pretty sure when Lindsay and I started Coffee Combos podcast, I was like on the like.
And I'm not.
And I am not a conspiracy girly. By any means. You tell me any conspiracy. I'm most likely not believing it, but the flat earth one got me for a little while. I was like, okay, I could see that.
Becky Tobin
And the moon landing.
Kale Lowry
No, I don't think that's a conspiracy though. Like I don't think that falls like that is did we land on the moon and everybody made it up? Or like to me that's not a conspiracy. Conspiracy to me is like killing Marilyn Monroe because of secrets that she knew. Or like the like those type or like Michael Jackson. Like is Michael Jackson. Was it assisted suicide? Was it, you know, because he was trying to do big things? Like those are conspiracies.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry

Becky Tobin
We've seen the world from the outside, haven't we? And it's round.
Kale Lowry
Have we?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. Like when you take a picture from the people from space, when they take a picture, it's a ball.
Kale Lowry
I don't know that those are actual pictures.
Becky Tobin
Yeah, they are.
Kale Lowry
Ask your friend. I think those are like a culmination of. Is culmination the right word? I think they're like pictures put together. They're not like it's not when.
Becky Tobin
When. When astronauts take photos from space of the world of Earth, of Earth. Is it an actual picture showing that
Kale Lowry
it's round or multiple pictures?
Becky Tobin
Or is it multiple pictures put together?
AI Assistant or Researcher
So yeah, those are actual photographs. Astronauts take single shots of Earth from space and it genuinely looks round because, well, it actually is round. You're not seeing a composite or anything manipulated. It's just what Earth looks like from that distance and angle. The curvature is real and visible from high enough up, especially from the moon or deep space. Pretty wild to see it with your own eyes.
Kale Lowry
Right, so then where did the flat. Why would any. If. If those are literal pictures, why would anyone assume that the world was flat? Like, when did that happen?
Progressive Insurance Announcer
That's.
Kale Lowry
I can't. I don't have, like, I can't even figure out my own personal life. That's how complex it is. So what the makes me think that I could figure out whether or not a conspiracy is a conspiracy? Is the Earth round or flat? Is there an extra whale species? Is the ocean 100 undiscovered? Like, I. The things that go on in Kale Lowry's brain as a singular, singular human being cannot be explored. So I have no business with the rest of the. Of life. Right? Like, I have no business trying to figure those things out. Everything is a conspiracy then. Yeah, Everything is a goddamn experience. Experiment.
Becky Tobin
Speaking of conspiracies and experiment, there's this new girl on Tick Tock that I follow and she's really smart. She's really, really smart. And she just talks about like, science and she makes it fun and just talks about all these things and she talks about. She was. She was going through like five species of animals that she thinks are actually aliens. And there's an. I believe it was an octopus.
Kiana
The.
Becky Tobin
And I wish I saved the video so I could talk more intelligently about it, but they can choose, like, if they hurt themselves, they can choose to go back or they're basically immortal. They can choose to go back in timeline of where they're at in their age.
Kale Lowry
No way.
Becky Tobin
Yes.
Kale Lowry
No way.
Becky Tobin
Yes. It's crazy.
Kale Lowry
So people eat them and that's up
Becky Tobin
then I don't know if they. I think it was an octopus.
Kale Lowry
That's so fucked. Like, if you doing that to something that is so intelligent and is able to do that.
Like, that's.
Becky Tobin
Yeah. But the point of me bringing up was the. She said something that really resonated with me that was really cool. She's like, she was talking about. The thing that she loves about science is that science accepts change when they learn new information.
Kale Lowry
So like, humans don't.
Becky Tobin
And so like, science isn't factual to like, science is factual until there's more information. And then when more information comes to Allow the. Allow something to change or the thought process or the formula or whatever it is, it changes because they have new information to do that. And I'm like, hell, yeah. So if we should all be like
Kale Lowry
science, if humans are a part of science and like evolution and all of that, why are we not welcoming change and accepting change?
Becky Tobin
I don't know.
Kale Lowry
I can't figure it all out. I'm just a girly.
Becky Tobin
We are just girlies. And we are here in a bed, which actually probably looks kind of interesting now that I think of it.
Kale Lowry
In what way do you want me to shock you with a dog collar tonight? Do you think that would revitalize you?
Becky Tobin
Do you have a dog collar?
Kale Lowry
So there is this segment that I was thinking about. So when I went on Saraya's podcast, there was this, like, trivia thing where every wrong answer, you could either eat a bug or I think it was a bug. Eat a bug or get shocked. And so I picked the shocking. So, like, if that was. Would. Do you think that would make you snap out of it? Would.
Becky Tobin
I don't know if there is snapping out of it. You know,
Kale Lowry
I don't think there is, but it was just a thought. You know what I mean?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. Would you get shocked by.
Kale Lowry
Yeah, I did. I did.
Becky Tobin
Do you like my dad bod shirt?
Kale Lowry
I love it. I literally love it so much.
Becky Tobin
Anyway, let's see.
Kale Lowry
Tend to help. Sos. Sos. Let's just have a moment of silence. We can gather our thoughts.
Becky Tobin
Okay.
Kale Lowry
Like, where do we go from here? Do you know what I mean?
Becky Tobin
I do.
Kale Lowry
Y' all wanted real time podcasts, and this is the epitome of real time podcasts.
Becky Tobin
It literally, literally is. At your service, daddy. At your service.
Kale Lowry
All right, we're gonna move on to. Is it karma?
Becky Tobin
Is it karma or is it chaos?
Kale Lowry
Do you think we should go into a studio and do, like, a little jingle? We could use autotune for sure.
Becca Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
Okay. A woman writes. Karma really works in mysterious ways. The Mackenzie Shurilla case just took the craziest turn. And honestly, justice served. Do you. Are you familia with the Mackenzie Shilla case?
Becky Tobin
No.
Kale Lowry
Mackenzie Shilla was dating this guy named Dom. There's a documentary on Netflix, I think it was, that we watched. And basically her and Dom were teenagers. She was 17 years old. Her parents gave her permission to move in with this 20 year old. And they were on and off, I guess, for like three, four years. One day they're leaving a party. Mackenzie's driving. She has her seat belt on. In every other video, she's smoking a blunt in the car. Smoking weed in the car. Yeah, I think so.
Becky Tobin
She drove into a wall.
Kale Lowry
She drives into a wall at like 100 miles an hour. And the other two didn't have seatbelts on.
She survived.
She's in prison. They both die.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
So there have been a lot of. There's been a lot of discourse online about it because she loves the fame and notoriety that she's getting. She. Nobody thinks she's sorry. They think she did it on purpose, which I also tend to believe. So there's been all these conspiracies on. Dom's family is, you know, doing their thing. And basically Davion lost his life as collateral damage. It's just really up. And there's no. To me, it has come across as though Mackenzie's family, both of her parents and herself, have no remorse. And the jail phone calls that have been released between her mom and herself are just. They're. They will give you the ick. If you watch the Crash on Netflix, you already know she drove 100 miles an hour straight into a brick wall, intentionally killing her boyfriend Dominic Russo and their friend Davion Flanagan, just because he wanted end the relationship. Now there is like, did she do it on purpose? Did she not? Like that's like the whole thing.
She's been trying to get everything out
of her 15 to life sentence, crying that she blacked out from a medical condition called pots, which you've never worn
your seat belt before.
And now all of a sudden you're just taking this random turn into a brick wall. Got it. In Ohio, you have exactly 365 days to file an appeal. Her legal team filed the paperwork on October 24th thinking they were safe because it was the one year anniversary, but they forgot. 2024 was a leap year. So there's only 364 days because February 29th added an extra day. October 24th. Oh, my bad. 366 days, not 364. Because. Because February 29th added an extra day. October 24th was technically the 366th day. They were literally one day late. Now her lawyers are begging the Ohio Supreme Court for mercy, claiming a calendar glitch ruined shouldn't ruin her life. Meanwhile, the prosecutors and the families of the victims are like, the law is the law. She took two innocent lives and the math is keeping her behind bars until at least 2037. Personally, I think the universe handled this one perfectly. You can't outrun karma. Listen, I'm of the opinion that Mackenzie Shrilla is right where she needs to be. And in fact, I don't love her parents either. And I don't feel bad for any of them.
Becky Tobin
I don't feel bad for anyone either at this moment in life.
Kale Lowry
The dad got let go from his Christian school teaching job because he talked about, like, being okay with weed and like, he smoked weed and he's like the, like, like, truly, when you watch it, you're like, he's a stoner.
Becky Tobin
Yeah.
Kale Lowry
Not that I think the stoner community is bad. I'm just saying, like, you work at a Christian school. Your daughter killed some. Killed two people. You've allowed her to basically go live as a teenage to go live with her boyfriend. Surely they're having sex, they're. They're smoking, they're having sex, they're doing all the things and like, I don't know. I wouldn't really want to send my kids to a Christian school if that's the type of teacher that there's going to be, you know. Yeah, just very minimal regard for the lives lost. I don't care what anybody's family is involved in. Like, at the end of the day, she did what she did. She needs to stay where she's at. I mean, I think 10 years, we're in 20, 26. Like, like, I don't know how long she's been in there, but like 10 more years. Like, the, the other two guys didn't get to live 10 years. They didn't get 10.
Becky Tobin
I mean, 10 years isn't that long for killing two people, but I think
Kale Lowry
that's the first time she's up for parole maybe. I don't necessarily think that's like the end of her sentence.
Becky Tobin
Complex situation.

You could also just dug it out like the rest of us when we go through breakups and not kill anyone. Like, that's also an op. That's also an option because, you know, there is has never been a time where someone thought about breaking up with me and I was like, yep, I'm Gonna kill him. Like, there hasn't. That has never really. No, truly. I might have been on the floor crying, begging out in high school. You know what I mean? But I wasn't thinking, like, I'm gonna kill them, you know?
Becky Tobin
Yeah. I would never actually hurt. I've never even, like, put my hands on someone, so.
Kale Lowry
Got it. I never. You know what? It's the fact that I just. My conscience would never let me do it. It.
Cody Johnston
Yeah.
Plan B Contraception Advertiser
For sure.
Becky Tobin
Like, I could. I could. I feel bad killing a bug sometimes.
Kale Lowry
Like, I. I told Ike, don't kill the spider to, like, re. Release it somewhere. Like, you don't need to do that. You don't. You really don't have to do that.
Becky Tobin
Sometimes you do.
Kale Lowry
No.
Becky Tobin
Yeah. If they don't respect your personal space, sometimes you do.
Kale Lowry
Well, you could just put it out, like.
Becky Tobin
Like right on the back of the neck.
Kale Lowry
Like, I showed the. The kids a bug the other day, like, on the back porch. It was like. Like, it was a weird bug I hadn't seen before. I'm like, oh, my gosh. Like, I'm telling the toddler, like, look at the bug. Rio goes over, stomp on it, and I'm like, oh, that's not why it was. It's okay. Maybe he thought it was. I don't know. Anyway, tonight's gonna be okay. We're gonna be okay. It's the first show. I'm gonna do my best. We're gonna do our best to get through it. I am a little nervous. Please be nice to me for this first leg of the tour. I.

Becky Tobin

Kale Lowry
I think we're not. We're gonna regulate without alcohol.

In "Karma Keeps Receipts," Kail and Becky reconnect and share a candid, real-time conversation about navigating life's chaos and karma—especially during a particularly turbulent week. Broadcasting from Indianapolis while on tour, the duo dive into everything from dirty sodas and travel mishaps to grappling with the complexities of adulthood, forgiveness, internet culture, true crime, and even wild conspiracy theories. True to their style, the episode is full of unfiltered humor, vulnerability, and relatable takes on modern adulthood.
This episode is a quintessential peek into the mix of modern chaos, real talk, and the sometimes (hard-earned) rewards of karma. It candidly weaves together travel mishaps, social media pressures, generational patterns, true crime intrigue, pop science, and personal growth—reminding listeners that nobody has it all figured out, but there’s always room to laugh, reflect, and try again.
