Katie
Welcome back to Catching up with Katie. Now, this past weekend was a bit. Why are y' all laughing? What are y' all laughing at over there?
Matt
It was just a little.
Katie
I screwed up beforehand. I screwed up beforehand. And this. Y' all don't get to see the first bit. Okay? They're laughing because I could not control my words.
Abigail
As for the end of the video prior to this.
Katie
No, no, no. This past weekend was eventful. Honestly, we don't have a whole lot going on this week other than Ted and Huckleberry leave. So a couple of the foals who have been weaned, they leave this weekend. They go to their new homes. We have more of calving season. If you haven't, go check out those like, you know, calving season videos that we've started posting of all the new babies and whatnot. We are actually waiting on one to have her baby, I think today. Her due dates today. Wynonna. And then. Yeah, I honestly just had a. A bit of a blackout episode this past weekend at the cattle sale. You'll get to see the cattle sale video after this to. To understand the. The volume of which all this happened. But. Did you have fun? This is your third one. It.
Matthew
It was my third one. I had.
Katie
Sorry.
Matthew
You caught me off guard asking me if I had fun. I had. I. I had a good time.
Abigail
Can we just.
Matt
Can we pause for a second? I wasn't there blacking out. I have a context for Matt.
Katie
You were there.
Abigail
Yeah, she got wasted. Absolutely wasted. She was drinking at 9am and after that it was over. She was buying cat lunch.
Katie
And anyway, that is not what I'm talking about.
Matt
This is a cattle sale, though.
Katie
I can see how you would think that means something different.
Matt
What are you talking about?
Katie
I may have purchased more than I thought I would.
Matt
What did you think you would?
Katie
I honestly don't know because there's only one red cow in the whole entire sale. And generally that is my M.O. generally going to like these cattle sales every year.
Abigail
I do like red animals.
Katie
Red or blue roan. That's been like the M.O. i either get like a red cow or two or a blue roan or like whatever. I get something different. That's what I've always seen said. I've always said I want to be able to look out in the pasture because my dad has all black simmental and I like to be able to know who's mine. Okay. That's been what y' all have known going up to now. We're changing things up so I knew I was going to bid on the red cow, but other than that, I kind of didn't know because, you know, we do have. We do have the opportunity to grow some, and cattle prices are high right now. And so we're like, well, we're going to be keeping all of our heifers going forward. We need to build our herd. We're trying to expand to have both a fall and a spring herd. Now, this isn't really something I've talked about anywhere at this point. And so we do have a little bit more land available to us to put some cows on. And so we're not as limited as we once were to, like, how many we keep. And so we did go into this sale with the thought process of buying some heers that are either carrying heers or could. Could just be a good piece to our herd because we went with, like, I think we had eight lots that in the sale this year, we did not have very many lots at all. One of the cows, we would have had more. One of the cows had to stay home because she was limping, so we weren't going to offer her for sale. So. And then I, like, I think two of the lots were embryos available, so that's not a cow that we were getting rid of. Two of them were recip. Cows carrying embryos. So it's like they were just unregistered cows that weren't necessarily a part of our breeding program. So we didn't get rid of breeding program cows. And then I think it was really only three lots of, like, good pregnant cows that we sold. Because sometimes you have to, like, you know, offer your good stock at a sale.
Matthew
And.
Katie
I did not plan. I. I did not plan on the amount of lots. How many. How many lots do you think I purchased? Because let me just, like, preface. In the years past, I've bought, like, one. So, like, last year, about one. The year.
Abigail
Crazy.
Matt
So seven. That would be crazy.
Katie
You think seven's crazy?
Matt
Yeah. You normally buy one. Seven would be crazy.
Katie
So two of them were accidents. But we. We bought. We brought home 10 lots.
Abigail
10.
Katie
One was a bogo. She already had. She already had her babies. It was buy one, get one.
Matt
Okay.
Katie
So technically, 11.
Matt
I thought the 10 was.
Katie
No, 11.
Matt
Four more than I thought was crazy.
Katie
Yeah. One of the moms had already had her little bull calf, so he was like, a little bogo sale. Okay. He just, like, came with the red cow. Got her. That's Juno. Two of them. I think I might have just thought I got the same cow. They look identical. I don't know how but they look identical. They come from the same farm. They have like a seven on their face which is kind of cool. Like they look, I don't, I can't tell them apart. From afar they look identical. And then what? I don't know why he just laughed at you.
Abigail
So you pick up on everything you can. Katie has this ability to be like on her phone and you could be like asking her a question directly and she will not acknowledge you whatsoever. But she could be in her house up the road and you'd be like, I just don't, I can't believe Katie's late today. And she'd pick up the phone and be like what? That is one of your special talents.
Katie
Maybe it's because I'm, I fear being disliked so much. What was it though, Matthew?
Abigail
I think it's just because you said far.
Katie
And now for today's sponsor which is Kitsch. You've heard me talk about their shampoo and conditioner bars before both the volumizing and the rice water bars. But let's just go ahead and talk about this rice water protein shampoo bar and conditioner bar once again because they are so great. But they also offer a subscription for an even better deal. Use the link in my Description to get 25% off of kitsch that will auto apply when you go through my link. And now back to the video. Here's the thing going forward with like expanding we're not necessarily going forward as like Katie's cows and my parents cows or like like it's not like Running Springs is Matt and Terry, it's Running Springs is Matt, Terry, Katie, Jonathan. So like to be an equal partnership and to be like in it and with this expansion it made sense That I be the one to purchase some head for the. The farm and head of cattle. So, like, we got 10 really, really nice cows. One of them is a heifer. She was an accident, but a happy accident. She's super nice. Yeah. And one of them already had a little bull calf. So most of them are having heifers or we don't know the sex. Only two of them were like, hey, we know. We know they're having a bull calf, and the red one is having a bull calf. But, yeah, so I now own a lot of black cows. I quite literally blacked out.
Matt
Yeah.
Katie
But it was happy. The accidents, people. I have had a lot of people be like, well, how do you accidentally buy a cowboy? One of them. My dad was like, hey, this is. Have. This one's having a hard time. Like, I. Sometimes you go to a sale, and maybe not a lot of people are shopping for a certain thing. So, like, this specific lot was consigned by one of our friends, and they're very nice open heifers. So they're just a year old. They had to be bred kind of out of our timeline, which is why we weren't going to be bidding. So. But he said, just go ahead and get it started. So they were trying to start it at 4, 500. I put 4. I put my four fingers up. I said. And they went, 4, 500 up. Sold.
Matt
And you bought it.
Katie
That's. That's literally how that happened. And then. I'm not joking like that. That is how that happened. And I'm like. And then it's like, a lot. So there's like. They're like, are you taking a B or a B, C or D? I chose Marilyn Monroe because I. I liked the name, honestly. No, was it Marilyn Monroe or was it.
Matt
That's a horse.
Katie
No, there's a cow now, too.
Matthew
You did get a Maryland.
Katie
Who was it? That was part of the. Who was the accident?
Abigail
Marilyn Monroe.
Katie
Was there two accidents?
Matthew
Yes, it is.
Katie
It is.
Matthew
Was it.
Abigail
Oh, that's the one she always.
Matthew
Are you sure that this one was a. A pick?
Katie
It was a pick because fashion was the other accident. Thought I was bidding on Lot 75, and I was bidding on Lot 73. And I was like, was it lemon drop? No, that's the one my dad got mad at me for spending too much money on. And I'm like, it's my money. Major.
Matthew
He bought Majorette.
Katie
He bought Majorette. How many did he buy? Well, no, he didn't buy any. It was just my number. And he Raised my number.
Matt
Oh, he. Okay.
Matthew
Essie Rose, Juno. How do you remember Majorette Fashion?
Katie
Marilyn Monroe.
Matthew
Marilyn Monroe. Margarita.
Katie
Margarita. I don't remember again, I blacked it. Like some of these. I was just like, like at one point we were moving our chairs because we started getting baked in the sun. Like, it was so hot. It was directly in our face. I got sunburned. My. My necklace made a, like a mark on my skin from where I got so red. Like, we're moving our chairs and I'm like bidding as we're like moving our chairs because, like at one point my dad, I look over and I guess I didn't realize that one of the cows we had liked prior was up. And he looked, he's like, Katie. And I just, I just threw my hand. I didn't even like. Anyway, there was a lot of chaos. But that's how things started accidentally happening though, because I just. It goes really fast.
Abigail
Yeah.
Matt
I mean, if you're in an auction and things start rolling.
Katie
Yes.
Matt
It's high intensity.
Katie
I'm so sorry. Beforehand, I just realized we never. You never bid?
Matthew
No.
Katie
Beforehand we were like, hey, you could bid on one. And then I'm kind of glad I didn't.
Matthew
It looked stressful. They like, weren't seeing, really seeing us out there. She was having to yell. Everyone was scared.
Katie
Everyone was scared.
Matthew
I'm just kidding.
Katie
Well, hey, no. A couple times I had, I had like, hey. Because I would, I literally would have my hand up. It was a cow I really wanted. And a couple people commented, they were like, they were just giving someone else a chance. I'm like, there was 90 lots I did buy and, you know, 10%. I did buy 10 of the cows at sale. But you know what's crazy though? So sometimes you're like, did I really. Sometimes you're like, did I really need to do all that and have like, like. So Lindsay was there doing actually a lot of just like the. Keeping track of things which was needed. But then like the last three years, you know, you've come to the sale and you do a lot of like filming and a lot of the behind the scenes stuff for like Snapchat and like subscribers and you know, things like that. Well, you know, you're like, am I being too much as a content creator having someone help film for this and whatnot. But the video of all that content got six and a half million views on Tik Tok only. So really, six and a half million views of me bidding?
Matt
It's pretty good.
Katie
That, that. And then like the cow reveal was 4 million views. And then on Facebook, the. That was just on tik tok.
Abigail
This YouTube video is not going to be very good.
Matthew
What?
Katie
Oh, because I'm talking about Tik Tok.
Abigail
Yeah.
Matt
Well, that make a difference?
Abigail
No, I'm just saying compared to that.
Matthew
Oh, that he's saying the YouTube video isn't going to be as good.
Katie
Fine. Don't. Don't put that type of pressure on yourself.
Matthew
It's just not, you know, it's an entirely different thing.
Katie
This is short form. That's.
Matthew
It's much harder to get people to subscribe on YouTube.
Katie
Like it is on Facebook. Okay. So in totality, the video of bidding has over 10 million views. That's crazy. On Facebook has three and a half million.
Matt
That is actually crazy, isn't it?
Abigail
Yeah.
Matt
That's so many views.
Abigail
That's tight. It's very tight.
Katie
Isn't it in it.
Matt
In it. Also a lot of views in it.
Katie
I don't know. But there were so many people being like. Like for some reason that video got on the for you page and it was mostly non followers that watched it.
Matt
Yeah.
Katie
And so everyone's just like, is this normal? Why is she bidding so much? I'm like, this isn't normal.
Matt
This isn't normal.
Katie
I shouldn't have done all that. But. But it's okay. So essentially, this is how I look at it and this is how I. We still made money as a farm. So in totality, what we sold, we still sold more than we bought. And what we sold again, like the lots were embryos. A bull calf, some recip cows, some open heifers. We only sold, you know, like I said, if we're trying to build our herd of female cows that can carry their own calves, we only sold three of those. But what we gained was one open heifer and nine really nicely bred cows that were bred and most of them having heifer calves. So we just swapped out the same amount of cows for better usable cows for what we want, and you kind of get double.
Matthew
Because they're having heifers too.
Katie
Exactly.
Matthew
And keep both.
Matt
So you got like 18 cows.
Katie
Yeah, well, you don't want to check. You. You don't want to check your chicken. You don't want.
Matt
You don't want to check your chickens.
Katie
Forward. They don't want to count your chickens before they hatch.
Abigail
But pig Latin was a big thing.
Matthew
No, no, I don't.
Abigail
Like everybody tried to. Or it's like kind of like where KK came from. Like, everybody started like, like adding like the same like everybody dude, like KK Hey, I'm coming over.
Matthew
I don't know. Are you talking about like in text?
Abigail
Yeah. Yeah.
Matthew
Okay. I thought you're talking about like in person. I'm like no one's saying yeah.
Abigail
And they did in person too like in middle school. But like they would start like adding.
Katie
Like when we were in middle school. She was in like a varied. She was a child.
Abigail
She was embryo.
Katie
Me and Matt aren't that far apart.
Abigail
I'm 28.
Matt
How old are you?
Matthew
You're not yet.
Abigail
I am.
Matthew
You will be in like three days. You're 27. I'm 24. We're only five years apart. We're five years apart. Me and Nate are like very many, very much.
Katie
None of us can talk today.
Matthew
Me and Nate are actually very far apart though age wise because he's cuz Nate is 31.
Matt
No, I'm regular 31. I'm not Emma.
Matthew
Yes you are.
Matt
No, am I really?
Matthew
You're 31. You turned 31 in August.
Abigail
Serious?
Matthew
Yes, I guess so.
Matt
Wow. It's crazy if that's true.
Matthew
That is true.
Katie
You were turning 29 the in 2023 because that's the birthday that you were there for. Vs code red. The next year is 2024. You returned 30 the next.
Matthew
Because a year ago around your birthday when you turned 30 is when we had that conversation about how you can't.
Abigail
Be what year were you born and chat GPT. How old am I?
Katie
I don't know what it is. Is it. It's an epidemic of people that I run into of other women and mind you, like I. I don't have a problem. These women are. They look lovely. The amount of 40 something year old women who have been like, oh well she's our age. And I'm like whose age our. Our age. I'm in my 20s. We.
Matt
I'm in my 20s.
Katie
I'm like I'm nowhere. I'm nowhere near your age.
Abigail
How old do you have to be before you can stop saying I'm in my 20s.
Matt
30.
Matthew
I think 20. I think 28 is like yeah is like the last year you can confident.
Abigail
I'm ending my 20s.
Matthew
You have to just say I'm 28.
Matt
No, you're in your 20s.
Abigail
I'm ending my 20s.
Matt
Closing out an era.
Abigail
I'm confusing.
Matthew
You are. You can say you're in your 20s. It just feels like you could be it. There's a long time. You could be anywhere from 21 to 29.
Matt
20 to 29.
Katie
I think your 20s is also that period of life where, you know, like, when you're in your 30s, you're just kind of in your 30s. When you're in your 20s, a 21 year old and a 29 year old are vastly different.
Matt
Yeah.
Katie
So different.
Matt
I mean, we're watching you grow up right in front of us.
Katie
We're. We have been.
Abigail
Honestly, we watched Dale.
Matt
She's very different now.
Katie
She's been. She. You had just turned 22.
Abigail
You're a woman.
Katie
Started here.
Matt
You're.
Matthew
Stop.
Katie
You're.
Matthew
You're.
Matt
That's crazy.
Matthew
You're a woman now. I don't.
Matt
I think it's. I think I primarily see.
Katie
You didn't even have a dog yet.
Matthew
I didn't.
Abigail
Really?
Matt
You can often tell age.
Matthew
I got her in humor two months after I started.
Abigail
Yeah.
Matthew
Yeah, you can tell what?
Matt
You can tell, like, age of maturity and humor.
Matthew
And, like, what does that mean?
Katie
I don't know. Because both of y' all act like you're 12.
Matt
I often get confused for someone younger than me. This is checking out.
Abigail
See, I don't know. I don't know. I feel like my humor is catered to who I'm with. Like, I will cater my humor.
Matthew
So you're fake.
Abigail
Maybe I choose the.
Matt
Y' all don't even know the real.
Matthew
Me, so we don't know the real you. I just go.
Abigail
I go home and, like, strike a cigarette and just, like, look in the mirror and, like, I don't even know who I am. It's just like, I'm just feeling like the last personality I had of the day. It's like Patrick Bateman. I'm just like, pulling this. That probably checks for a lot of people because everybody thinks I'm a serial killer in the comments, so.
Katie
Well.
Matt
Job a little bit.
Matthew
They probably wouldn't maybe, if you smiled a little more.
Abigail
I choose to use the word chameleon a little bit more.
Matthew
You should smile.
Matt
You should smile more.
Matthew
You know, you're prettier when you smile.
Matt
Was that a smile? You should do that more often.
Abigail
Now. It's the end of the Picking on Matt segment. There you go. Look at that, guys. There you go. Look at that, guys. Over. You guys. He's over the fans.
Katie
Over What?
Abigail
That was it, y'.
Katie
All.
Matt
She looked right into the camera.
Abigail
All right, Abigail, you've been very talkative today.
Matthew
I feel like I've been a pretty equal participant.
Katie
Did anyone notice that we're matching?
Abigail
I did. You started the show with it. Oh, wow. No, I didn't do that.
Matt
Also, I can't really see this. I can only see head.
Katie
Because we're keep. We always want.
Abigail
Yeah. When did the blankets come into play?
Katie
When I got. It's chilly in here because of all the lights and stuff. Oh, nice.
Matt
You know what? You know what? I've been noticing that side of the room has increasingly just gotten more and more comfortable in their lounging.
Abigail
I thought you meant, like, that side of the room. No, Katie, I was like, oh, snap.
Katie
Like, we've got our blankies. We've got.
Abigail
Yeah, no, we got plastic chairs. We have lawn chairs from, like, the dollar store.
Matt
They found these.
Matthew
Oh, there's gonna be a Reddit thread about this.
Abigail
Yeah, somebody was throwing these away and they just, like, picked them up.
Katie
Literally. He sat down. He's like. You know, a rolly chair would just go a long way.
Abigail
For the floors. At the very least, we can.
Katie
We can rolly chairs.
Matthew
He's like, also from a bad bag. Yeah, no, I know.
Abigail
One pillow. That's the shamed color.
Matt
I bunched up a blanket to sit on it.
Abigail
This is just.
Matt
It was. Be comfortable or be warm.
Abigail
A relic of the podcast couch. I prefer it. You're all good. This Agent Orton is acting up.
Matt
What?
Abigail
Before all of our time.
Katie
What? Why did you spit?
Matt
For a dramatic effect. Just kidding. It was a total exit. I didn't mean to. I'm gonna be able to stop. I don't want to play anymore. I don't want to play anymore.
Katie
Ew. It's all over you.
Abigail
Can we get that in slow motion?
Matt
I don't want to blame.
Abigail
That's the thumbnail.
Katie
So right now, Rebecca and her husband and children are staying in the Airbnb on the property, which it's not a real Airbnb. We haven't had it to the public for a really long time, but their. Their whole house, like, flooded, so they're getting all new floors, and it's. They're. They're going to be in that apartment for, I think, throughout the entire month of October.
Matt
And why?
Abigail
Because their house.
Katie
Because their house flooded.
Matt
No, why did it flood?
Katie
I have no clue. It's an old, old house.
Matt
I didn't know if it was, like, a plumbing or a natural disaster.
Katie
No plumbing.
Matt
Okay.
Katie
Plumbing.
Matt
Didn't know if, like, creek grows.
Katie
No, that's never. That's never actually their house. And so what's funny is we just now have these two little girls, you know, like, on the property, and they are wearing their Halloween costumes every single day of.
Abigail
I Was wondering what.
Katie
That.
Matt
That's fun.
Abigail
Okay.
Katie
And it's so fun. Like, y' all have that to look forward to where Halloween is. Not just Halloween. Like, if you let it be fun, they will wear their costumes all the time. And. And so it is so fun having them. But I'm trying because I, at one. At some point, my future, like, what I envision the perfect scenario to be is that we all move onto a huge piece of land compound, and she and her little girls have their house, and we ride horses to one another. Okay. And. Excuse me. Yes.
Matt
Who's the we?
Katie
Do you want to be a part of the we?
Matt
Just wondering who you were talking about.
Katie
Do you want to be a part of the week?
Matthew
I would hope that it would be.
Matt
I just wanted to know who you were talking about before.
Katie
We're talking about hypothetical. Everybody.
Matt
Everybody you were talking about before I said, who are we talking about? Proceed. Proceed.
Katie
Do you want to be within horse riding distance of one another? And we all just have hitching posts at our house?
Matthew
Because if you say yes, then you're committing and you can't go back on that. So think about it.
Katie
If this becomes a thing, then we will all have hitching.
Abigail
This is recorded, so it could be a contract.
Matt
I like riding horses.
Matthew
Well, there you go.
Katie
Would you commit to having a hitching post outside of your home? And then if one of us were to ride our horse up to your home, we could just hitch our horse up.
Matt
I'll put a hitching post in front of my home.
Matthew
Okay.
Katie
Okay. Yeah. So that's like, a part I'm like. And so I've been trying to not. Even though she's my best friend in the entire world, so I overthink things all the time. She literally drove up to my house today and had to turn around because we were having a meeting. But, like, I went and checked on some of the horses, which is right next to where they're staying. And I wanted so bad to just go, like, peek in the window because just look in. And I had to be like, boundaries Katie. I don't want to scare her off from my dream that isn't even in existence. But I want her to want to live near me, and I don't. Can't be freaking peeping.
Matthew
She would not have cared.
Abigail
I would have cared, though.
Katie
You would have cared?
Abigail
Yeah. Dude.
Matthew
Well, then you shouldn't move on to the.
Katie
You can't be the thing.
Abigail
Then I'll never know, like, what I'm safe from. I'll always. I'll Be like that Adventure Time episode of Jake getting out of the shower.
Matthew
Well, if you just close your blinds and keep your, like, curtains closed and stuff.
Matt
Yeah. The expectation of privacy was on you.
Matthew
Yeah. It's like, if you want privacy, then create it. Send the message that you want privacy.
Matt
You want privacy.
Matthew
It's not on us. We're trying to peep in, check in on you.
Katie
See, but then there's some people that don't care about privacy at all. Today, me and Abigail today were doctoring on two little calves that have fly strike right now. And we were. So we had Charles, who is on the farm. He's been there my entire life. Like, he just is the farm, you know, like, Charles.
Matthew
He is the farm.
Katie
And so, Charles, we were like, hey, can you come help us move these mama cows so we can doctor on these two baby cows? And so we, like, we're doctoring on the fly strike. They're both doing great. And me and you what? We went and checked on Wynonna for, like, two seconds. Come around the corner, just peeing, and we're like, Charles. Anyway, I spit too.
Matthew
So he started scooting around. He was a middle of two guests.
Katie
And, like, trying to get around the gas tank. Anyway, so some people don't care about privacy.
Abigail
That's true.
Matt
Some people don't.
Katie
No.
Abigail
Oh, Charles, you think he would, like, if y' all ever sold this place, he would just be like. He would go to the top of that hill and smile and then just turn into a bunch of leaves.
Matthew
He would just, like, sink. Sink, like, into the farm.
Abigail
Yeah. Or like, go sit into a tree and then like, melt into Charles.
Matthew
Yes.
Katie
Yeah.
Abigail
Be part of it.
Katie
Permanent running.
Abigail
And there would just be, like, a tree face Charles with, like, a smile on it.
Matthew
That's what it. Well, no smile. Probably. Probably just like a little.
Abigail
Probably still talk to you, though, if you walked by it.
Matthew
Yeah, yeah, he would. He would for sure.
Katie
Charles, like, is. Is the backbone of Running Springs.
Abigail
Was that the campaign?
Katie
Yeah, the campaign.
Abigail
Charles is the backbone.
Katie
Tilt A World operators are the backbone of this country. Anyway, that's Charles. I wish so bad that we could talk about some. Some. Some subjects on here, and I could. I could have free will of speaking.
Abigail
If we did a uncensored podcast.
Katie
No. Well, that. But if we ever decided, hey, we're going full force with a reality TV show that shows all the drama, all the behind the scenes, all of the relationships, how, you know, whatever a. It would only be one season. They would. It could. It. We could never recover after everyone watches like the behind, you know, like this.
Matt
You think everyone would like turn on each other.
Abigail
I don't feel like everybody. Like, I mean, I don't know. I don't know.
Matthew
I don't think people are necessarily like me. It's not that people are mean to each other. It's just like the lore. It's like, it's like I'm not even.
Katie
Talking about necessarily like, like, just like these people. I'm talking about there are 20 something people that make this farming operation go round. So. And there's. There's some people that aren't necessarily working here anymore. So there's. There's things in the past five years that have happened that I'm like, if we had a reality show while that was happening. Oh my gosh. Like Snapchat does do a little bit of extra content behind the scenes where you might hear me say a cuss word or like, whatever. So like, you know, we're a little looser on Snapchat, but not to the point where we air our dirty laundry.
Matt
Right.
Katie
That's the thing. Like, that's for behind the scenes. We try to keep it profess. Ish.
Matt
I. I try not to keep dirty laundry.
Katie
Okay.
Matthew
Personally, I try to keep them really have any.
Abigail
My closet is riddled with skeletons. I have to sort through them to get my outfit for this.
Katie
Is it because your wife is so obsessed with Halloween, as you said earlier?
Abigail
That is true, but no.
Matt
Does she have a favorite Halloween movie just off the top of your head?
Katie
Hers is Hubie.
Matt
No.
Abigail
Dude, she's such a good movie.
Matthew
It's not.
Katie
I would.
Matthew
I don't know. I don't know that it's my favorite. I really like it at the moment.
Abigail
I saw that for the first time actually the other day.
Matt
I've watched it once. I can't remember it. I just remember enjoying it.
Katie
Hubie. I love it. I. For some reason, because I usually love stupid movies and like Adam Sandler, I.
Matthew
You did? I don't think you could tell me what it entailed.
Matt
Maybe you need a re.
Katie
Watch.
Matthew
I think there might have been a little like, multitasking. Oh, that's being attempted during the movie.
Abigail
That's how Maddie likes to watch it.
Matthew
No. And you can't watch a movie that way. You just can't.
Abigail
For me, being such a lover of the arts, Maddie is the polar opposite. I can tell you right now the plot of the. Hubie.
Matthew
What's. What was the plot of the movie?
Katie
So Hubie. Halloween is about Hubie who Lives in a small town and he is a. He's a character. Okay. Like, he's. No, he works at a little store.
Matthew
He.
Katie
Like. There's. There's this neighbor that moves in.
Matthew
Okay.
Katie
And the neighbor. There's some weird. There's some weird stuff going on. Okay. No one can really figure it out.
Matthew
There is weird stuff coming.
Katie
There's some lore. There's lore that I'm having a hard time figuring out at the moment in my brain, but essentially Hubie helps figure it out.
Matthew
That's about like the first. So that's about like the first five minutes of the movie that you can figure that out. But yeah, that. That is. That is part of the movie. Yes.
Matt
You know Hubie.
Matthew
Yeah. You know.
Matt
Obviously Hubie.
Abigail
Right.
Katie
I feel like that was more than you thought I would. It is.
Matthew
It is more than I was expecting.
Matt
I thought you picked your phone up three minutes in.
Abigail
You made it five, I'm pretty sure.
Matthew
It opens with him working and then he rides his bike home in which he falls off into his new neighbor's yard. They make introductions and then the rest of the movie happens.
Abigail
The opening line is, my name's Huey. I work at this video store. They're having weird stuff going on.
Katie
Where were we when we tried to walk?
Matthew
We were. We were on a trip somewhere, cuz we were in a hotel.
Abigail
If there's a movie that I'm dying to go see, I will not take Katie.
Matthew
It was probably Congress.
Katie
You think?
Matthew
Cuz it would have been close to Halloween. Yeah, it was. I think it was Congress last year.
Katie
Congress this year is coming up. Okay? Y' all are going to your first Congress.
Matt
First Congress.
Matthew
It's coming up very soon.
Katie
Two weeks.
Matthew
Oh, God, it is.
Katie
Have y' all decided? Are you coming at the same time or are you both, like, doing halsies?
Matt
Haven't decided.
Katie
I mean, we have a huge. Airbnb.
Abigail
Hasn't.
Matt
Hasn't been discussed.
Matthew
I think y' all should both commit to the whole time this week.
Abigail
Actually.
Matt
Yeah, we got a lot.
Matthew
The whole eight days that we're gonna be there.
Abigail
Yeah, but you're gonna be having the time of your life.
Matthew
We're leaving on Tuesday, next Tuesday to go to New York and then we get back Thursday.
Katie
I don't. I'm so scared about going to New York, y'.
Matthew
All.
Matt
Why?
Katie
I don't. I'm like, I. I don't know that there's anything this. This year that's happening that scares me more than going to a big city without my husband that. That like I. He's like my safety net.
Abigail
Is it New York City?
Katie
Wait, you're leaving on like, New York City? Like, we're going to be right next to like the.
Abigail
Like, to which hotel?
Matt
Cuz we're also going to New York.
Katie
Oh, what are you doing in New York?
Matt
We're filming a music video for a metal band.
Matthew
Oh, that'll be fun.
Katie
That's neat.
Matt
That'll be really fun.
Katie
We're going for a conference and I'm speaking on a panel.
Abigail
Really?
Matt
Should we make it a video? We're already going to be there.
Katie
Yeah.
Matt
What if. Spitballing here. Stay one extra day. Let's make a video in New York.
Abigail
Could you stay an extra day?
Matthew
Could you come a day earlier?
Katie
I. I have.
Matt
I think a New York vlog would be.
Abigail
Chad, are we doing this?
Matthew
I have some stuff planned that weekend, but if y' all could come on and we had that day to do it and maybe like some.
Abigail
You're leaving and we're, you know, I mean, we may just get where we're staying. I mean, we haven't. We just now developed this idea.
Matthew
I think it would be. It would be cool.
Abigail
We'll stay.
Matt
I mean, you can stay at a.
Abigail
Holiday Inn for a hundred dollars.
Matt
The freaking. Whatever.
Matthew
We could.
Abigail
Y' all can do whatever we can.
Matt
The opening scene in Times Square, and.
Abigail
You say it's fall, y' all in.
Matthew
The building right next to Times Square, and we're gonna be like right next to the Empire. The Empire State Building is like where we're staying.
Matt
We could do it with.
Abigail
The last time I stayed in New York City. In New York City, I stayed at a hotel and it was like 150. It's like, you don't have to spend a thousand dollars.
Matthew
Well, I think the issue is I'm.
Abigail
Not talking about y' all again. This is.
Katie
Right.
Abigail
We did.
Matthew
I'm just explaining that we wanted to be in walking distance of the place that the this thing is at because we're really nervous about, like, the traffic.
Katie
We don't know how city. We don't know how.
Matthew
I don't know how to Uber.
Katie
Just.
Matthew
I don't know. Taxis.
Matt
Stay one more night. Whole extra day of content, bro.
Abigail
Yeah, bro.
Katie
And.
Matt
And we'll have a little.
Abigail
We could have like, we go out.
Matt
To dinner or something that evening and have fun too.
Matthew
I'll try. I will.
Katie
Look, we. We'll look into it.
Matt
Look, you look into it.
Abigail
We'll look into it.
Matt
Could be fun.
Abigail
You know, I may rent a car to drive to New York. Because I have. I kind of have to. Kind of have to. In hindsight. Why? Because I think I have to take a couple of helmets.
Matt
Might be more economical to drive.
Abigail
I mean, I'll drive. And if you wanted to ride with me, then you could just. Now that we're driving, right? And now that we're driving, we can literally go up there. When y' all go up there, we watch Katie's panel. Like, dude, guys, that would make it.
Matthew
So much more fun.
Abigail
And we have to. We're for your protect.
Matthew
We're not doing Nate's.
Katie
Like, if you have any recommendations for dinner, like a fancy dinner in New York City, you decide. If we go to $5,000, let me know.
Abigail
There's all kinds of places. There actually is a couple place we need to get pizza somewhere.
Katie
Like a nice restaurant.
Abigail
Y Like. But y' all do like pizza, right?
Matthew
Yes, for sure.
Abigail
There is one place we do need to get pizza, but we should go to a nice restaurant.
Matt
Yes.
Matthew
Yes, I agree.
Abigail
I want to figure out what we're doing.
Matthew
Okay.
Katie
My.
Matt
But we probably will drive.
Matthew
My one thing. If y' all are there and we're there on a morning together, can we please go to, like, a bagel shop?
Abigail
Yeah.
Matthew
I really want most death. A good bagel.
Matt
Most death.
Abigail
Last time I was in New York, my one thing, that embarrassing story going off. Embarrassing stories that we're not talking about right now.
Matthew
Okay.
Abigail
I went to a Starbucks, and it was really busy, and they're really busy in there. And I got all my drinks, and I ran into somebody and dumped all my drinks in front of them, like, all over there. And I ran out the store and ran away. Because that's one thing in New York is that you can disappear.
Matthew
You can.
Katie
Yeah.
Abigail
It's like you run into a crowd.
Matt
You duck for a second. One of those.
Matthew
Our hotel has a coffee shop in it, I think.
Katie
I. I can't remember.
Matthew
I looked at so many.
Katie
I think it does. We're just teenage girls going to go into New York.
Abigail
Drop your best safety tips for big city safety tips. Big city safety tips.
Katie
You know, we're just teenage girls. We don't know how to. We don't know how to do this.
Abigail
You can do Crossbox.
Katie
See, that's why.
Matt
That's why you should fly us out. We can escort. Be a larger group, all black.
Matthew
You know, if you're driving, we'll just cancel our flights and we'll all go together.
Matt
I don't think there's any shot y' all are riding in a car that long.
Katie
No, I was joking. No.
Matt
Yeah.
Abigail
See me, dude, I'm living for that opportunity.
Matthew
I honestly wouldn't mind it, but I.
