All right, Jillian, start off this week. We got a nice little fun video. You know, there's so much stuff going on in California with the voting ID and all of that. So yeah, let's just jump right, right into it. Guys, can we play sot1 things that

Oh, it's funny because it's true, guys. It's funny because it's true. But you know what's not funny and is actually quite sad is that there are so many structural problems in the way that California's elections are set up. Voter ID is just the tip of the iceberg. These animals are legally registering homeless people to vote. Everybody on the voter rolls gets a mail in ballot. There is a 29 day Runway where they start counting votes almost A month early. And election officials have access to it so they can legally harvest ballots and go after the votes that they want who haven't sent their ballot in yet. There are voter rolls, guys with tens of thousands of dead people on them. And of course, when the DOJ sues to get to access access to all of this madness and gain a little transparency, guess who stonewalls them? Everybody's boy, Gavin Newsom, citing privacy. I mean, it just. And you know what else? It's not just California. It's 14 other states that don't require voter ID. Plus Washington, D.C. you need to show nothing, zero, zippo, nada to prove that you are who you are before you vote. Now, Somehow there are 36 other states in the country that do require voter ID, and everything seems to function just fine. But you know, what the heck? I have to also point out that this one went almost completely under the radar. But the only thing that could have stopped this died this week on the Senate floor, and that would be the SAVE Act.

The Save America act just got killed in the Senate. And if you're wondering how that's possible when roughly 80% of Americans support voter ID, they support proof of citizenship to vote, then you'll want to stick around, because I dug in so you don't have to. There are two parts to this problem. The first part is that four Republicans voted with the Democrats against this bill. But that's not the only problem. The second part is that even if those Republicans had voted with the rest of the party to support the SAVE act, that still wouldn't have been enough. A simple majority is not enough to get legislation across the finish line in the Senate. There are some exceptions to this, like budget reconciliation, but for the vast majority, you are going to need 60 votes to get legislation across the finish line. The only other way is to cross some procedural barriers that are basically impossible to surmount. Like, statistically, it's just not likely at all to happen. So that is by design. Our government is intended to make it difficult for one party just because they have a simple majority to pass whatever they want. But the question, core problem of this issue is that Democrats aren't voting in line with what their constituents want. At the end of the day, that's the main problem here, because 80%, like I said, roughly 80% of Americans support voter ID. They support proof of citizenship to vote. So the main problem here is not just the four Republicans who defected Here and voted with the Democrats, but it's also all the Democrats who are voting against. Against what? The people who put them in that office. What all of those people want.

Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Yeah, exactly. I mean, there is some nuance, but he's absolutely right. It becomes largely irrelevant that those four Republicans defected. And I'm actually gonna take a moment here and explain to you why. So let's circle back to arguably the most important thing that he just said. Roughly 80% of Americans support voter ID, including the majority of Democrats. So this shouldn't be controversial. And yet Democratic politicians made it controversial anyway. And we all know the argument, right? Requiring ID disproportionately burdens black Americans and minorities who lack access to a driver's license, a passport, or a birth certificate. Now, I'm gonna let you sit with that one, and you decide for yourself which position is more insulting. Asking somebody for an ID or assuming that an entire class of Americans is incapable of getting one. But I digress. The second argument was that non citizen voting doesn't happen at scale. Right? And yet we just watched California allow paid advocacy groups to register its homeless population to vote. And they didn't need a driver's license. They don't need a Social Security number. So when someone looks you in the eye and says, we know exactly who's voting in California, that that is a lie. Now, why did the SAVE act fail? Well, as standalone legislation, he just said the SAVE act needed 60 votes to survive a Democratic filibuster, and Republicans only have 52 seats. So they tried to attach it as an amendment to a $70 billion budget reconciliation package. And this would have funded ICE and Border Patrol. Right. So a reconciliation Bill only needs 51 votes, but that triggers something called the Byrd rule. And this says that reconciliation bills are strictly reserved for fiscal policy only. And this is the part where the Senate parliamentarian ruled that the SAVE act was a regulatory action, not a budget bill, so it doesn't qualify. So if all of that is the case, why bother to hold the bill at all if it was doomed to fail? Well, it was a setup. And here's the catch. This is where you really need to pay attention. It was a setup for something called the nuclear option. And that's where a bare majority of just 51 senators can vote to overrule the parliamentarians ruling on the spot. And they can pass the bill anyway. And this is what people on Fox News and the President were wanting the Republican senators to do. They wouldn't have needed a super majority There could have been no Democrat filibuster. 51 votes, and it's done. And you're thinking, awesome, yes. What happened? This is the nuanced part. So if they had done this, the parliamentarian would have stayed, but the precedent that they would have set continues onward. And that precedent can be used again and again on anything, any time either party has 51 votes. And that means they would have essentially handed the Democrats the same weapon the moment the Democrats had the majority. So they could do things like granting federal abortion access by attaching it to a farm bill or installing climate mandates by stapling it to defense appropriation. And they could pass it with a bare majority, no recourse. And the nuclear option, it requires absolute party unity. So when those four Republicans, which were Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and I can't remember this guy's last name, it was like Tim something. Oh, my God, Tom. Thom. Thom Tillis. They weren't necessarily voting against voter id. What they were voting against was to kill the nuclear option. And that's the real reason that this bill died. So when I put it in perspective, it's exceptionally disappointing. But maybe you can sort of understand why those four Republicans didn't go along with it. Democrats and how they've reacted so far to the latest scandal up in Maine with Graham Platner and how much of an example this is of the kind of lesson they've been trying to take from Donald Trump and the way he's operated for the last 10 years. Just look at how Democratic Senator Andy Kim reacted when I asked him about it. First he said that it's up to the voters of Maine. And then he did something very telling. He focused on taking back control of the Senate. What do you think?

Well, look, right now, for me, like I have not met him, I've never talked to him yet. But what I am, what I do hear from people in New Jersey, around the country is that that they don't trust this U.S. senate right now, led by the Republicans as we are about to go back into session this coming week. And what they are pushing on is, you know, 60 to 70 billion dollars more for ICE, for CBP, for immigration. They want that stuff.

So do what it takes to elect Democrats, regardless of from my standpoint, you

know, I will work with whoever the people of remain elect, but I hope that they elect somebody that is going to stand up to this president, work with me to be able to fight back against, you know, all these dangers.

Would this have been the way Democrats reacted five years ago, ten years ago? Hard no. They would have been hand wringing. They would have been publicly questioning whether or not this is really the guy who represents Democratic values. And now they're making a concerted, strategic political effort to keep their eye on the ball and focus on what they need to do to win back the Senate, regardless of questions about flaws in their candidate, because that has not gotten them far in a lot of races. It's made them lose a lot of races. And you can ask the questions about morality and ethics and everything else, but to see the evolution of Democrats on a leadership level, certainly those who are already in the Senate and want to be back in control, to be more forgiving of things that they wouldn't have a few years ago, is fascinating.

Hold on, let me before I lose my mind, let me also just point out that one of the four senators I just referenced is one from Maine that defected against Trump. Susan Collins, hello. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. This is absolutely beyond the pale. This woman just looked us in the eye and she told us that Democrats have to support the most foul human for the US Senate because Trump. And she's framing that as political sophistication and maturity. As the Democrats finally learning how to play hardball by pinching their nose and sacrificing their principles for the sake of democracy, of course. But, like, let's talk about what they're actually playing hardball with. Graham Platner has a totem cough tattoo, Guys. That is a Nazi symbol that concentration camp guards wore. Women that this man has dated have described him as toxic and abusive. His own campaign's political director quit and went to the Post the night before his primary to say that this is not a guy who would be great for Maine, let alone the country. And on the Internet, Platner has, like, a kick account. And he has bragged about wanting to masturbate in porta potties and frequenting prostitutes across the globe. He's ambitious. You gotta give him that. And Platner is not an isolated incident. There's Jay Jones, another lunatic that the Democrats supported. This is a guy who texted somebody that he wanted to see his political opponent take two bullets in the back of the head and then subsequently watch the man's children die in their mother's arms. And let's not forget about Hasan Piker. This is a guy that they now routinely campaign alongside. This is a guy that went online after October 7th and justified the rape of Jewish women and electrocutes his dog on his live streams. This is who they're getting behind, okay? This is who they're joining forces with. And this is the lesson that Dana Bash says Republicans learned the Democrats are finally wise enough to follow. I mean, if CNN is not the ultimate spin machine, my God. Dana, Bash wants you to believe the Democrats are losing because they're. They're just too pure. They're too principled. They're. They're too quick to hold candidates to an impossible standard. No, Dana, here's why you and the Democrats are losing. It's because you put men in women's prisons. Not just their sports, their prisons aquatic, okay? Where women have no choice and no exit and no protection. You let repeat violent offenders walk out of jail and back onto the streets where they're killing grandmothers on buses. You want open borders. I used to believe that being on the left meant that you were a good person. It meant that you were someone who held kindness like a burning torch as you stumble through the darkness of this world. Being on the left was synonymous with human rights, dignity and fighting injustice in all its forms. At least that was my perception as a young person. Now that I'm older, I know that nothing could be further from the truth. What I've seen is that leftism clothes itself in countries kindness. Yet beneath it there's often cruelty, malice and depravity. They present themselves as human rights champions, yet at the drop of a hat, they will support the most anti human backward regimes. So long as those regimes stand in opposition to their political enemies, they claim to hate violence, yet become gleeful in celebrating it when it's directed at someone they believe deserves it. You either believe everything they believe or you become an enemy to them.

Maybe they have a different voting philosophy. Maybe for you, you don't want to vote for a convicted felon, but in our opinion, he's not actually a convicted felon. And so we're going to vote for him or he's not actually guilty of that crime. But the. But the point is. But the point is we can go back and forth accusing each other of you're a bad person or you're a bad person. That doesn't do anything for the conversation. It doesn't do anything for our viewers. Let's actually go back to the age of issues. Let's go back to policies instead of silly questions trying to make us seem like bad guys.

Oh, my gosh. Out of the mouths of babes. Man, that kid is Very articulate. I'm encouraged seeing young people who can think so critically and speak so eloquently. And he's absolutely right. I think from me personally, when I get really angry, I get angry at the people I know know better. Dana Bash knows better. She knows better. And she should call out Graham Platner the same way that I called out Nick Fuentes. I'm not in denial about Trump's warts, but no, I don't actually think he's a. And I don't actually think that he's a racist. I don't. And if I did, you're absolutely right. I would not have gotten behind him in this last election. And the most important thing that this kid points out is that we focus on the issues. And I'll go back to what I say when I'm at my absolute best self. And that is, I think the vast majority of Americans want the same things, that we are all good people and we just have different ideas about how to get there. However, I will never stop punching up at the Dana Bashes or the hypocrisy of Hollywood as well as D.C. because I promise you, they know better. I promise you they know better. And they're spewing this vitriol and this propaganda to then whip up the masses into a violent frenzy and get us all fighting with each other. Couldn't agree more. And as promised, I have some happy news from around the world. So Australia is on track to become the first country in the world to completely eliminate cervical cancer. This goal can be achieved by 2035 or as early as 2028. They've done this by committing $59 million a year to the National Strategy for Elimination of Cervical Cancer. The World Health Organization certifies the Bahamas for eliminating mother to child transmission of HIV and hepatitis. It is, I think, one of 12 countries in the American territories that have done this, which is just fantastic. In the uk, a robotic fish called Gilbert has been created that swims and it eats microplastics. So it goes in the water and it does that before the actual fish can swallow the microplastics and then we eat the fish. So I think that's fantastic news. Then.

Stanford scientists have found a way to regrow cartilage and stop arthritis. This is a new treatment from injections.
