Every night here on Koala Moon, I help families wind down with bedtime stories. But you know what keeps parents up at night worrying about whether we're preparing our kids for the real world, especially when it comes to money. I've got a 15 year old daughter and an 18 year old son, and while some parts of parenting get easier as they grow real conversations, independence, teaching them about money remains challenging. The truth is kids won't truly learn to manage money until they get hands on experience. That's where Greenlight comes in. Greenlight is the easy, convenient way for parents to raise financially smart kids and families to navigate life together. It's a debit card and money app made for families. Parents can send money to their kids and monitor spending and saving while kids build money, confidence and financial literacy skills. The app includes a fun chores feature for setting up tasks and rewarding kids with an allowance. When I think about doing dishes for a few cents as a kid, I realize how motivated I would have been seeing the money arrive. I remember my own kids asking me to look after their first savings money from the tooth fairy, birthdays and their pocket money. What fun it would have been to see their savings grow in their own money app. I wish I'd found Greenlight sooner. Maybe that's why millions of parents trust and kids love learning about money on Greenlight. The number one family finance and safety app. Don't wait to teach your kids real world money skills. Welcome to Abby Snoozy News, a minisode full of chatter about the show. Like news from the characters behind the scenes facts and answers to your questions. Like how long does a snoozle woozle snooze for on a Sunday? The answer is all day. They don't get up on Sundays or Saturdays. Now I come to think about it in tonight's newsy News, we're talking about friendship. That's right. Friendship. That precious invisible thing that makes the world go round. What's better than friendship really? The feeling you get when your friend laughs at a silly joke or the hug they give you when you're feeling down? Friendship makes life easier and better too. That's why it's the subject of so many stories coming up on Kuala Moon. Here are my top friendship picks. Very soon we'll be rejoining the ultimate BFFs, Capi and Tito. They'll be going on a sleepy boat safari, seeing the birds and wildlife of the wetlands of Peru. Something super cool about Capi and Tito's friendship is that they encourage each other to try new things. Like earlier this year, they decided they would have the best summer ever. And because they made that pact, it came true. They see every day spent together as an opportunity for adventure, whether that's daring to catch a bus into the great beyond or just hanging out together in their home of Playa del Moon. After all, a good friend can transform any regular day or errand into something amazing, like a walk around a park with a friend. That can turn into an ultimate Frisbee contest, an imaginary safari, a dog spotting competition. Cappy and Tito also show that if you share your dreams with someone you care for, they can help you on your journey. Like remember when Cappy wanted to soar over the Colca Canyon with Tito but she couldn't as she has no wings? Tito not only hooked her up with a paraglide, but also stayed by her side the whole time, making sure she was ok. We have another example of friendship coming up soon in a Halloween themed story called the Comfy Pumpkin. In this tale, a little pumpkin sits on the porch watching kids go by, trick or treating and having fun. But the pumpkin himself doesn't really have friends to trick or treat with. He's more of a solitary kind of guy. But then a mouse in search of a house stumbles across him and thinks this friendly pumpkin might just be the right home for a solitary kind of girl like her. She moves in, building her home in the pumpkin. And just like that, the two of them find out that they're stronger together. I think that this story reminds me that everyone can find friendship if they're open to it. Whether they're a chatty life and soul of the party type person or a lone wolf with no other friends to speak of. I think it's important to remember that there are more kinds of people out there than we can count and that we never run out of chances to find our bff. At all stages of life, we can make new friends and find people who we click with are perfect matches. Because our capacity for friendship is infinite and life has a funny way of bringing people together when they need it. Whether you're a mouse looking for a house or a comfy pumpkin, not even realising that you need a friend. I'd also like to talk to you about a story that came out recently. Did you listen to it? It was called Immi's New bff. In this tale, Immy and her friend Billy the Cowboy notice a new family moving into apartment 3A in their building. It includes a little girl called Amelia, who seems pretty shy. But Immi and Billy immediately take it upon themselves to welcome her to the block. As it turns out, Amelia has moved from Zimbabwe in Africa, and that's a pretty huge move. Can you imagine leaving your school and your house and going somewhere totally foreign to you? It must be pretty daunting. What I like about this story is that Billy and Immi help Amelia to feel welcome without thinking. They help make a big scary move feel more like an adventure, and Amelia soon falls in love with her new home. Do you struggle making new friends or do you find it easy? Some people are more naturally extroverted, which means they might find it super easy to chat to strangers and to start playing and laughing with new people. Other people are more introverted, which means they might be quieter and more reserved, less likely to sing and dance and play in big groups until they're coaxed out of their shell. Some people find it a bit anxiety inducing to make new friends. You may find yourself thinking, what if they don't like me? Or they probably don't need any new friends anyway. All kinds of people think thoughts like this. You could be Taylor Swift and still think. People might not want to be your friend, but remember, why be your biggest critic when you could be your own personal cheerleader. If you think those thoughts, then try thinking this instead. Why wouldn't they want to be my friend? I'm awesome, after all. If your heart tells you you'd like to know someone, you probably should. There's nothing to lose and lots to gain at the end of the day. If you're kind to people, they usually react in the same way back to you. Kindness spreads kindness, after all. And if you feel too nervous to start a conversation with another kid, how about you start with a smile? And if you're one of the braver sorts, get chatting with the shy kids as well as the loud ones. They often are hiding some pretty wonderful senses of humour. Sometimes it's the quietest ones who have the wildest imaginations.
