In tonight's newsy news then, we are talking about free time. You see a lot of you have some free time coming up. Yep. I am talking about school holidays. The summer holidays are creeping up on us here in the UK and the US and even for you guys over there in Australia and New Zealand, you're gonna have some time off too. You lucky, lucky lot. Are you someone who loves the summer holidays like me? Or are you someone who gets bored after the first week, then starts annoying your grown up because there's nothing to do but moan. I think there's always something wonderful to do. All you need is a little bit of imagination. So, on that note, let's start by seeing how our Sleepy Forest friends will be spending their Summers. On Monday 30th June, we'll be going to the middle of nowhere where Dallas Cassidy is about to head out for a summer's day walk when. Oh no. He discovers that his cowboy boots have walked away without him. Oh, goodness me. He of course calls Detective Hash Brown, who brings in his favorite deputies to crack the case. Can you guess? Potato and beans. Oh, poor Dallas. I think his predicament will remind you that if you get bored, at least you can pull on your shoes, go for a walk and see what adventures you come across. You know, I once went for a walk when I was bored and I didn't expect anything much to happen. But then I stumbled across the most wonderful part of the woods with a trickling stream, a frog or two, and get this, a rope swing. I ended up having one of the best afternoons of the whole summer. Even when you think you've seen it all before, the world manages to surprise you. OK, back to sleepy forest then. On July 9, something really exciting is happening at the koala cabin. It's Kira's birthday and Coco challenges Hugo the toad to make her a perfect cake. Now, Hugo was looking for a challenge. He was bored of cooking all the same recipes and so this really lit up his mind. He ends up pulling everything Kira loves and incorporating it all into one giant, magnificent cake. It's such a charming story. You guys are gonna love it. And it makes me remember that something really exciting to do in your free time is to challenge yourself. It could be anything. Riding your bike, further, running faster, learning a new dance, making something or baking something crazy delicious. And bonus points if you can make someone else's day by sharing your achievement with them. Whether that's putting on a dance performance in the garden or giving the neighbour's kid one of your homemade chocolate chip cookies. On June 25, we will be joining the Sleepover Story Club at Tammy the Wombat's Cosy Warren. This time they'll be sharing stories using a game. They'll get a letter and a picture or two and have to use the elements to make a story. The imaginative little animals come up with some amazing tales and have such a giggle whilst doing so. It's so fun having a sleepover and Stories just make it better. Maybe you can play the game with your family, your siblings or friends and have your own cosy sleepover. For example. Then if I gave you a picture of a boat, a sandwich and the letter Q, what story would you tell? I'd tell one about a queen who took a pirate ship around the world in the search of the best fish finger sandwich. There you go. Your turn. In short, it is going to be the best, sleepiest summer ever in Sleepy Forest. And we're looking forward to bringing you along on all of these story adventures and more. And just for our premium subscribers, we are cooking up a special summer surprise. We're going to share with you a Koala Moon Activity Pack. Yep, the one and only first ever Koala Moon Activity Pack. It's going to be packed with fun, with challenges and competitions, and we'll do it week by week through the summer holidays. We're going to call it Coco's Summer Camp. Oh, I can't wait to share it with you in July. Keep listening out for it. As for now, I would like to share with you what you can do with your spare time this summer. Number one, have you ever tried a wildlife hunt? It's for proper adventurers who know how to explore the wilderness and leave no stone unturned. What you do is in the morning you can make a list. If you're with a sibling or grown up or friend, you can make lists for each other to make it a competition. Or you can just challenge yourself. List things you think you might find out there in the wilderness. Some easy like a feather or an acorn, and others more challenging like a tadpole or a pigeon eating a chip or a rock that looks like dua lipa. All you have to do is check the items off your list as you find them and see who can find the most. You'll be surprised what you can find if you focus on looking. Number two, Make a national holiday just for yourself. Pick a day and decide what makes it special. Like how about Pyjama and Peanut Butter Day where you wear your pyjamas whilst eating peanut butter sandwiches in the garden. Or how about this one? Razzle Dazzle Day where you dress up and you have a dance party and you have everyone perform a musical number. Any day can be made really special if you decide to do something outside the norm. Number three, how about making a change? There are so many things you can do to make the world a better place. And it feels so good. You can do whatever matters to you. Want to save the environment. You could start a compost bin where you can turn old food scraps into soil, or get crafty and make a birdhouse for the feathered friends who live nearby. Want to make your neighbours smile? See if any older folk around you need help or even just a chat. Start a mini library or make cards to hand out. Simply saying Happy Summer. Honestly, the possibilities are endless. The world is a marvellous place filled with opportunities for fun. All you have to do is turn off the telly, put down your tablet and make a plan. Easy peasy. I can't wait to hear what you get up to do. Let us know. Whatever it is, have fun and I'll see you at bedtime with a story to settle you down to rest. Until then, Koala Kids, Sweet dreams.
