This morning, Koko wandered through sleepy Forest, enjoyed a light, tasty lunch at the bakery, played games among the trees and stopped by the river before heading home to spend the afternoon with his toys. Look. Can you see? He's used his building blocks to make a colourful fortress for his cuddly toys. His fluffy blue rabbit is high up in the tower, gazing out over an ocean of mum's best blankets. It looks a little like Harmony Cove, doesn't it? I wonder if we narrow our eyes and sharpen our gaze and look out to see, we might be able to spot one of our friends from Harmony Cove. I think I can just about make out a fish the colour of sunbeams bobbing about in the waves. Yes. I knew it. Bumpy yellow scales, soft green tummy, big wise eyes. Who could it be? That's right, it's Zen, the pufferfish. And he's meditating with a dolphin. The dolphin's looking very sleepy indeed, drifting about in the silvery water, his eyes starting to close. Well done, Zen. Back in the toy fortress, Koko's big yellow teddy bear is letting down the drawbridge to let in a very cheeky looking monkey. The cheeky monkey giggles and so does Coco. It's fun to play with toys, isn't it? I wonder what games you've been playing today. I bet you've had lots and lots of fun, but now if you look out of the window where you live, you might be able to see. It's getting Dark. Koko's looking out of his window too, trying to spot the signs of night. The light outside the cabin is fading and the trees in the forest look darker than before. Blues are becoming purple and purples are becoming black. Stars are beginning to appear, tiny specks of silver signaling bedtime. Koko is sighing. And I bet you are too. It isn't easy to stop playing, is it? But everyone's getting ready to go to bed, even Koala Sunshine. He has cast his golden light over Koala Kingdom all day, allowing the creatures to play. He has illuminated Hector and Sunny's adventures and warmed even the topmost mountain of pillowy peaks, making the snow glisten like diamonds. What colours can you spot in your sky? Where's the sky darkest? And what has happened to your sun, I wonder? Has he done his work for the day? Is he going to bed too? You could try whispering good night and listening for a reply. What did he say? Koala Sunshine has told Koko it's definitely time to tidy up his toys. He nods, excited about completing his first job. I hope you're excited too. Koko finds the box where he keeps his toys. It's a big box for such little paws. Koko drags it into the middle of the carpet. Using all his strength, he opens it up. There it is now ready for his toys. Where are you going to put yours? That's an excellent idea. Look. Clever. Coco has already started the task of tidying up. He's busy picking up building blocks. He picks up one, then another, then another, and another, and another, and another, and another. His furry little arms are full of building blocks. They're a wibbly wobbly tower stretching almost to the sky. They look a little like one of the cloud piercing spires in Moonbeam Heights, don't they? Good job, Koko. That is fantastic tidying. Are your arms full of toys too? How many toys can you carry at once? Can you make a tall tower too? Make sure it's not too wibbly wobbly. Whoa. Be careful, Coco. The wibbly wobbly tower of blocks almost ended up on the floor. Slowly, slowly, slowly move to the box. And in they go. One building block, two building blocks. Three, four, five and six. That's a great start, Coco. But there are still more blocks to tidy away. I bet you have other toys to tidy away too. Can you keep going with Coco? Look around the carpet. What else can you spot? Look under the sofa or table. Or perhaps in the corners of the room. Where do these toys belong, I wonder? Koko has finished clearing away the building blocks now and is working out where to put his cuddly toys. They are tired too. Even the cheeky monkey's yawning. Coco smiles. Suddenly he has a brilliant idea. He knows just what to do. Quickly, he puts the fluffy blue rabbit, the big yellow teddy bear and the cheeky monkey on the sofa and covers them with one of Mum's best blankets. Mum bustles in with a glass of milk for cocoa and smiles. Nice try, Coco, but that isn't really tidying up, is it? Coco giggles, then reaches for his milk. Mum shakes her head. It's not time for milk until he has finished his first task. Gently, she reminds Koko to put the cuddly toys in the big white box. Like everything else, Coco scoops them all up and kisses them goodnight. Coco loves kissing his cuddly toys. Good night. Good night, fluffy blue rabbit. Good night, big yellow teddy bear. And good night, cheeky monkey. You need to go to bed more than anyone. Finally, the cuddly toys are happy and settled in the toy box. Are your toys happy and settled too? Do any of them need a little kiss or a special cuddle before you put them away? Remember, your toys will be there waiting for you in the morning. They need a rest, too. Well done. You're doing a wonderful job of tidying up tonight. Now all the toys are tidied away. Coco climbs up on the squishy, squashy sofa and drinks his milk. He can feel it all, cold and delicious, trickling down his throat and filling his tummy. I wonder what bedtime drink you're going to have tonight. I hope it's something yummy. Sit back and look at the beautiful job you've done of clearing away your toys. The room looks so much better now, doesn't it? Everything is back where it belongs, ready for tomorrow. Now you've done such a good job of clearing away your toys, can you guess what's next? That's right. It's bath time. One of Koko's favourite parts of bedtime. He loves the feeling of the warm water on his fur, the sweet smell of the bubble bath and the fluffy white foam it creates in the bathtub. It's almost like having a wash in the clouds. As Koko puts down his empty glass, wipes milk off the fur around his mouth and carefully climbs off the sofa, he imagines the bathtub flying out of cosy cabin and zooming among the sparkly stars of Sleepy Forest. After such a busy and happy day, Koko's imagination is still glowing with adventure and the warm Cosy water makes him feel light enough to float in his mind. The bath becomes a shiny little rocket ship with bubbly steam puffing out behind it like soft cloudy smoke. The taps sparkle like silver buttons on a control panel and the curved tub glides smoothly through the night sky, whooshing past twinkling stars on its magical space adventure. That would be so exciting, wouldn't it? As he walks towards the bathroom, Koko glances out of the window and imagines himself soaring high above sleepy forest. He would hover gently over the treetops watching his friends finishing their bedtime tasks. And of course he'd say hello to the Koala Moon who should be making an appearance any second now. There, Koala Moon takes her place in the sky, emitting love in the form of silver moonbeams on the kingdom below. A wave of affection sweeps over Koko as he basks in the soothing glow. It really is beautiful. Koko smiles up at Koala Moon. Koala Moon smiles down at Koko. The forest around his cosy cabin twinkles. Has the moon come out where you are, I wonder? Is it a big round moon like Coco's? Or perhaps it's a half moon or a crescent? Or maybe there's no moon at all. It would be quite difficult to fly a bathtub in pitch darkness, wouldn't it? I wonder which land in Koala Kingdom you'd visit. Where would you go? Would you like to zoom over the snow capped mountains of pillowy peaks? Or perhaps glide above the gentle lapping waves of Harmony Cove? Or maybe you'd fly your bathtub to the middle of nowhere on the very edge of the kingdom. The catch? Do not get a surprise to see you doing a loop the loop around Koala Moon, wouldn't they? As Koko enters the bathroom, he decides he would fly to Wonder Jungle. He's so busy imagining Cappy and Tito waving at him as he shoots past in his flying bathtub, he almost forgets to do his bath time jobs. He doesn't turn on the taps, of course. That is a grown up task for a grown up person. But as Mum fills the tub with warm water which makes a lovely drippy, droppy, splishy splashy sound, Koko tries very hard to be helpful removing his sunset orange backpack because it isn't allowed to get wet. I wonder if you can take off your things too. This is the next job in our bedtime routine and it isn't a very easy job, is it? It's OK for Coco. He doesn't have to remove his fur. But you have to take off your clothes. There might be fiddly buttons or a tricky zip or sleeves that get stuck. Or an awkward sock that just doesn't want to come off. Keep going. That's right. Almost there. You're doing an excellent job of getting ready for your bath. Very good. You did it. Now, I wonder, can you make a pile out of your clothes? See if you can fold them up for your grown up. It's easy for Coco, isn't it? His pile is tiny. He only has his orange backpack. Your pile is much bigger. But you're doing an excellent job of keeping everything neat and tidy tonight. Well done. It's almost time to get in the bath. Hooray. Bath time is the best time, isn't it? Coco watches in delight as Mum moves to a gleaming row of bubble baths. On the shelf near the bathroom window. There are a lot of bottles. There are big bottles and little bottles and plain bottles and fancy bottles. They contain bubble baths of all different colours. Pink liquid and blue liquid and red liquid and green liquid and even some sparkly golden liquid which twinkles in the light of the koala moon shining through the bedroom window. With her large soft paw, Mum selects the bottle containing golden liquid. Coco's little grey toes wriggle with glee. He was hoping she would choose the sparkly bubble bath and he cannot wait to find out what colour the bubbles will be. He tiptoes closer to the bathtub. Mum tilts the bottle. Nothing happens. Coco can hardly stand it. His big brown eyes peep over the edge of the bathtub as Mum tilts the bottle a little further. Still nothing. Coco holds his breath. It feels tickly in his chest as he waits and waits some more. Then finally, there it is. The golden liquid. Coco exhales in delight as the sparkly bubble bath oozes out of the bottle and falls with a splash into the water. It smells sweet in the air. Like pears, perhaps, or golden apples on an autumn day in Sleepy Forest. What does your bubble bath smell of, I wonder? Or perhaps you have bath salts or soap. Or maybe just lovely warm water that smells clean and fresh, like you will after your bath. Koko stands on his tippy toes to peer over the bathtub. Bubbles are forming now. Hundreds of beautiful frothy bubbles. Big ones and little ones and tiny ones and gigantic ones, erupting in the water. They're sparkly, like the bubble bath itself. As they catch the light of the koala moon shining through the window, they glisten all the colours of the rainbow. One minute they're gold. And the next they're silver. And then they're pink and blue and orange and green. They look so wonderful to play with. And Koko cannot wait to climb in. He squeezes his little paws in excitement, his toes wriggling even faster than before. I bet your toes are wriggling too. Do they feel cold against the tiles? Or perhaps they're warm and snug on a carpet or rug? What can you see as you peep over the edge of your bathtub? Do you have bubbles? Or perhaps some bath toys bobbing about in the water? Maybe there's a slippery soap to play with or a squishy sponge to squash. It's almost time. Mum turns off the taps, then checks the temperature of the water. Just like your grown up will too. Koko lets out a sigh. It has taken a while, but at last the bath is ready. Hooray. It is finally time to climb in. Are you ready to get in the bath like Coco? Excellent. One foot, then the other. That's right. Calm and steady. It is important to take your time with this task. Koko is extra especially careful, making sure he doesn't slip. He lets out another long sigh as he lowers himself into the water. It is perfect. Not too hot and not too cold. It wafts around his fur, making it billow like the plants in the Wonder Jungle. When there's a warm tropical breeze, Koko lies back in the bath, pretending to float down a jungle river. He snakes through the trees, winding this way and that, zigzagging gently beneath a tunnel of waxy green leaves. Stars twinkle in the gaps between branches. Insects buzz in the air. Koala Moon smiles down at Koko as the river carries him past all his friends. He waves lazily as he glides past. Hello, Boba. He waves back from his bubble tea stand. Hello, Cappy. Fancy seeing you here. The river moves left and right, left and right, as it twists and turns through the jungle. What creatures can you see as you float on the river? Are they looking sleepy? The sloths certainly are. And the birds are putting their heads beneath their colorful wings. The monkeys are still wide awake, though, chirping and chattering as they leap between the trees. Perhaps you better tell them it's almost time for bed. Koko travels from Wonder Jungle to pillowy peaks in his imaginary traveling bathtub, playing with bubbles piled high like the snow on the mountaintops. Giggling, he vanishes beneath a heap of white foam. All is still for a moment. Mum looks around in surprise. A second passes, and then another. And then pop. Koko bursts out of the foam, covered in bubbles. They form a crown on top of his head, then drip down his face to hide one eye. It reminds Koko of someone. Who could it be? Atticus, the pirate, of course. Suddenly, Koko is a pirate himself, sailing towards Harmony Cove. He moves slowly back and forth, making little waves as the bathtub becomes a pirate ship. On calm waters, it's a peaceful journey. Koala moon gazes down from the starry sky, guiding Koko to the beach on the horizon. In the moonlight, it's the line of silver stretching far as the eye can see. Is your bathtub a pirate ship too? Wonderful. You can sail alongside Koko. Stars twinkle above you. Waves lap gently beneath you. By your side, something swims, a shoal of fish, silver as the moon in the sky. They jump out of the water and back in again. Out of the water and back in again, hardly making a splash. Can you make your hand jump in and out of the water like the fish? How high can you go? How softly can you land? What other sea creatures can you see at Harmony Cove? Is your sponge a big blobby jellyfish wallowing about in the shallows? Could your soap be a slippery eel, impossible to grasp? And how about your grown up? To me they look like a many armed octopus trying to catch you to give you a wash. Koko laughs as Mum's octopus arms grab him gently. It is time to get clean. Koko sighs he has a lot of fur, just like you have a lot of skin and it takes a while to wash. Can you sit still like Koko? Or perhaps you can help your grown up by washing yourself. Good job. That's it. Don't forget to wash your face. And how about your muddy knees? And what about that tricky spot right behind your ears? COCO GIGGLES it tickles. When Mum cleans behind his ears, he starts to squirm, but takes a deep breath and tries hard to keep still even when Mum says it's time to wash the fur on top of his head. Oh dear. This is Koko's least favourite part of bath time. He doesn't like it when the water drips into his eyes, but he knows his fur will gleam when Mummy's done. And it's never as bad as he expects it to be. He watches a little nervously as Mum's big furry paw reaches for the shampoo bottle on the shelf by the window, then takes a big deep breath that fills his lungs and makes him feel a little lighter. The shampoo doesn't look that scary. It's just a Bottle no different to any of the others. And the liquid inside is red and smells of strawberries. What does your shampoo smell of, I wonder? Perhaps your grown up could open the bottle and let you have a sniff. Just be careful not to get any on your nose. Mum grabs the jug. Time for the water. It's very splashy and it's very splishy. But Koko knows a special trick. If he screws up his eyes and covers them with his paws, no water can get in. Koko prepares himself, hiding his face. Can you do it too? See? You're nice and safe behind your hands. The darkness behind Koko's eyelids becomes the dark of the night in Wonder Jungle once more. The waxy green leaves are there. The silvery river, the warm tropical breeze. Coco is there too. And so are you. Standing by a waterfall tumbling off the side of a cliff. Droplets of water catch the light of Koala moon as they fall through the air. It is beautiful and Koko reaches up a paw to feel the spray with his hand. Can you do it too? The drops tickle your skin and you smile, not the slightest bit afraid. It is just water and it might even feel nice as it gushes over your head. You take a deep breath and Coco does too. And all of a sudden you're beneath the waterfall and it is lovely. The water is warm and soothing, tumbling over your head, past your ears and onto your shoulders. Cleaning your hair, washing away the shampoo bubbles until you are quite clean. Good work. You have had a lovely play and you have had an excellent wash. You have done a wonderful job of bath time tonight. Now you've finished your bath. Can you guess what's next? That's right. It's time to get dry. Koko is searching for the plug to see if he can pull it out and make all the water glug, glug, glug down the plug hole. Can you find the one in your bathtub? When you've located it, give it a quick tug and listen for the water draining away. Where does it all go, I wonder? Don't worry. There's no danger of you going down the plug hole. You are much too big. Koko is too. You're going to get out of the bath instead. Koko is being very sensible as he climbs out of the bath, holding onto Mum so he doesn't slip. Well done, Coco. You're doing a great job of taking your time and not jumping about. We don't want you to fall. Can you be as careful as Coco as you climb out of the bath. Koko's shivering. It's almost as chilly as pillowy peaks. Now he's out of the bath. Goosebumps are prickling his skin and his fur is standing on end. Poor Cocoa. What do you think he needs to do to get warm? Yes, that's right. It's towel time. Mum grabs a big soft towel and wraps it around Coco. His shivers turn into a great sigh of satisfaction. That's better. Mum dries Coco rubbing his fur until he's quite warm and dry and fluffy, too. He looks very cute standing there in a towel as fuzzy as the teddy bear he put in his white toy box. Can you get dry, too? The hair on your head is rather like Coco's fur, isn't it? Give it a rub and see if you can make it as fluffy as cocoa. Are your arms dry? And your legs? And how about the space between your toes? You have a lot of things to dry, but you are doing a wonderful job. Koko steps out of the towel and gives a little shiver. He's cold again, but not for long. Mum is there, holding out his fluffy blue dressing gown. With a giggle of delight, Koko slips it on, shooting his little grey arms into the soft blue sleeves. It is warm and snuggly and comforting, too. It's lovely to be nice and clean at the end of a long, happy day. What are you going to put on, I wonder? Perhaps you have a dressing gown like Coco. Or do you prefer pyjamas? Or a nightie? Maybe you wear pyjamas and a dressing gown and slippers too. I bet you feel super snuggly whatever you're wearing. Koko glances at Mum and nods. He knows exactly what job he needs to do. Now, let's see if you can guess. Koko's face is clean, his body is clean. His fur is clean. But what's missing? That's right. Everything is clean. But his teeth are not. Luckily, Koko enjoys brushing his teeth. He likes the taste of toothpaste and the tickle of the bristly brush against his teeth. Do you enjoy brushing your teeth like Coco? I bet you love making them sparkle. Which of our Koala Kingdom friends has the most teeth, I wonder. It must be Peanut the Armadillo. He has almost 100 teeth. I wonder if he needs two toothbrushes to keep all those teeth clean. Or perhaps even three. Koko only has one toothbrush and he finds it by the sink. Mum squirts on the toothpaste. Not too much and not too little. Just the right amount it's stripy like a zebra, but red and white, not black and white. Thankfully. It doesn't taste like zebra either. What does your toothpaste taste like, I wonder? Koko's toothpaste is minty and he loves how it makes his mouth feel clean and fresh. He opens his mouth wide and tilts back his head as Mum gets ready to brush. Great job, Koko. Can you do the same, I wonder? That's wonderful. You're doing a fantastic job of helping your grown up with this task. It's hard for someone to clean your teeth if you're wriggling about. The teeth at the back of your mouth are just as important as the ones at the front, even though they're hidden away. If you keep very, very still and open your mouth very, very wide, your grown ups can clean all your teeth, even the ones that are difficult to reach. Mum brushes Koko's top teeth first. The toothbrush goes back and forward. Back and forward.
Mum

Koko likes the steady rhythm of it all. It is soothing and predictable, almost like a train. Suddenly, the toothbrush turns into a train and Koko's teeth become the track. Koko giggles as the toothbrush train chugs slowly from one side of his mouth to the other. Back and forward, back and forward.
Mum
Up and down, up and down. Round and round. Round and round.
Abby
Choo Choo. What could your toothbrush be, I wonder? Is it a train like Coco's? Or could it be a tractor traveling along a bumpy white lane that leads to Puddlefoot Farm? Or perhaps a car zooming along a smooth white road in Moonbeam Heights? Coco spits minty foam into the sink, then opens his mouth again. His top teeth are sparkly, but his bottom teeth still need brushing. Haul aboard the toothbrush train once more. Choo Choo. The toothbrush train chugs along the bottom track, the rhythm steady and predictable as it moves from one side of Koko's mouth to the other. Back and forward. Back and forward.
Mum
Up and down, up and down. Round and round. Round and round.
Abby
Choo Choo. The toothbrush train makes one last journey over the tracks and then it's done. Mum pretends to turn off the train's engine. Can you turn off the engine on your toothbrush too? Where on the sink are you going to leave it, I wonder? Do you need to put it somewhere special until morning? If it's a Tractor? Perhaps you need to put it in a barn at Puddlefoot Farm. If it's a car, could you park it in a garage? Coco's teeth are lovely and clean, and I bet yours are too. You've done a wonderful job of brushing your teeth tonight. Well done. Coco yawns. He is very tired now, his little feet almost dragging along the floor as he moves to his bedroom with Mum. Together they take one last look out of the window. The sky is so very, very black now and the stars so very, very bright. They look like fireflies hovering above the trees, which are almost invisible in the darkness. Lights from other cabins glimmer in Sleepy Forest and Koko smiles, knowing all his friends have done their jobs too. There is only one job left. The very best job of all. It is time to get into bed and snuggle up for a bedtime story. But first Koko must say goodnight to Koala Moon. He presses his nose against the window, his breath fogging up the glass. He whispers the words. And from somewhere very far away, or perhaps extremely near, Koko hears a reply. The words are comforting, both new and ancient all at once. Who would you like to say goodnight to, I wonder? Can you whisper it to the moon in your sky? Or perhaps the stars? Or maybe even the sky itself stretching over you? What a beautiful world it is, and it is all yours. Wave at your world and smile, sending out love and gratitude for a lovely day. As Mum closes Koko's curtains, he tells her about his favourite things that day. It can be quite hard to remember, can't it? The morning feels like such a long time ago. Can you recall everything you've done since you woke up? What did you enjoy the most? Koko enjoyed playing hide and seek with Kira among the trees and visiting Buck the Beaver's wooden dam on Sleepy river, as well as his lunch at Betty Badger's Bakery. And of course, he loved coming back to Cosy Cabin and spending the afternoon playing with his toys. They will be fast asleep now, tucked up in the big white toy box. The blue rabbit will be snoozing peacefully, the yellow teddy bear too. Even the cheeky monkey will be snoring gently. One cuddly toy is still awake, though. It is Koko's favourite. A fluffy baby elephant that he's had since he was small. Do you have a special toy for bedtime, I wonder? Is it a big soft teddy bear? Or perhaps a stuffed animal? Or maybe a blanket? Or something equally special that soothes you? Ready for sleep? Grab it now as it's almost time for bed. Koko's elephant has been waiting for him but now his elephant eyes are starting to close. Koko scoops him up then puts him on his pillow as he removes his dressing gown and climbs into bed. His mattress is the perfect squishiness, his covers warm and cosy. Koko snuggles down as far as he can go resting his sleepy head on the soft soft pillow. It is wonderful to be in bed after a long happy day isn't it? Let the bed take your full weight. You have completed all your tasks and there is nothing left to do except listen to a bedtime story. Relax your arms and your legs. Relax your chest and your shoulders. Enjoy the feel of your cool pillow against your cheek. Well done. You're doing a wonderful job of settling down for rest and now finally snuggle up with with your favorite cuddly toy. Say good night to your grown up and get ready for another sleepy bedtime story from Koala Moon. Sam.
