Josh Leva
And both of these houses were, like, Latino influencers. So people just wanted to pin us together when that should never be a thing. You know what I mean? One, you got invited by a luxury brand. Two, we are Latinos together. If anything, we should be, like, united through this experience of, like, I don't know, just being proud that there's actually Latino creators being invited by brands.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And we're out here representing because, dude, you think about Coachella? Coachella is mainly an American white kind of event. You know what I mean? And now that we have Latinos there and doing it big and being invited by brands and, you know, representing, that to me, is special. That, to me is, like, fucking cool. Like, we're doing shit.
Brisan Fernando
Like, I think that's what's really cool about the event. People are actually.
Josh Leva
Everybody dances.
Brisan Fernando
Everybody's actually having fun and enjoying themselves and doing that.
Fernando
And then you have the. The baby daddy ticket. That's when you get to meet and
Karen
greet your baby daddy.
Fernando
The Josh Leva.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
In person, in the flesh, you get to see that the muscles are real. Ladies, these are not even AI like, I saw it. It's actually real.
Karen
Ladies and gentlemen, today' video is sponsored by Sigi, you know, the Vibes number one ticketed rating app on the App Store. And I don't get tired of saying that, and I don't get tired of hooking people up. Guys, the World cup is here. It's here, y'.
Brisan Fernando

Karen
Baseball season is here. Yeah.
Josh Leva
That person you really wanted to see for a long time ago, they're here, they're here.
Karen
And, guys, just go on SeatGeek if you're bored. And you, oh, what do I do? Friday night or Saturday night? Go on seek, see what's. You can go there. There's like, a little filter. It says today, tomorrow, you can choose your day. And I'll tell you endless amount of things you can do. Take your girl on a date.
Josh Leva
Another cool thing about it, even if, like, you're away from home and, like, let's just say you're traveling to a new state, you want to see what's going on in that state because you don't have anything planned, you can check what's going on in the area, and there's always something going on because there's over 75,000 live events, over 35 million downloads, because SeatGeek is the real deal. Let them know about the deal we got going on.
Karen

Every guest is a privilege.
Josh Leva
Do we want to go there?
Karen
Get jolly, cuz I'm on a podcast with Josh Laver. Hell yeah. You have too, mother.
Fernando
Ladies, listen to that. No, man. Sing.
Josh Leva
Fly. Let me just tell you,
Fernando
this is
Karen
La Platica Episode 243, boom 43243 is in the books. Happy Monday. La Platica doesn't suck. And Mondays don't either.
Josh Leva
Come on, man.
Karen
This video is sponsored by SeatGeek, number one ticketing app on the app store. Yeah, it is very great seeing you. Good morning, crew. Good morning.
Brisan Fernando
What up?
Josh Leva
What up?
Karen
It's a week after Chella. After Chella. And look, I'm still kind of like in cella vibes.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
But had a great time.
Josh Leva
Good man.
Karen
What Good. What a weekend.
Josh Leva
Yes.
Karen
I asked myself, am I getting too old for cella? But I don't think so. We'll see.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Yeah. I feel like my cella experience. I. I'm. Let me. Can I. Can I dissect this with you? Do you mind. Do you mind if I, like, kind of break this down, please?
Karen
I would love to know.
Josh Leva
We got into the studio, my energy feels good. I. I can tell I'm not a fully. Like, my brain isn't firing at 100 like it normally is normally. Like, you know, I'm like. You know what I mean? Like, I'm here and I'm like, right now I'm not here.
Karen
You're almost kind of like forcing yourself to. Yeah, the Josh la.
Josh Leva
Yeah, but anything for the La Platica listeners, man. Look, of course, we don't make excuses here. We're here to deliver. We're here to give you what you want. And if you're on the treadmill right now, keep it going, baby. I see you. We kept saying that through Uncle John, remember? Look, I, I. So my, my. I've.
Karen
Wow. Okay.
Josh Leva
First time I ever went to Coachella was for Tesalud.
Karen
Ever.
Josh Leva
Okay. I've been doing the social media thing for a long time. It was. It's been a thing to go as a creator.
Karen
Right.
Josh Leva
To get invited by a brand or just to go for the picks, to go for the vibes of it.
Unidentified Guest
All.
Josh Leva
Right. But I never one. I'll be honest. I've never been invited to Coachella ever. So I never really had a reason to go. But obviously, once we launched Salud, like our brand Is perfect for festivals, Right. Be hungover and getting that energy. Whatever you need, we got you covered. So obviously being at Coachella for my brand makes a lot of sense. But we got into the studio today and Jess, camera four, our producer, she was like, what did you think of the festival? Like, which is. Oh, you said Carol G. You asked me what was my thoughts on Carol G. And what did I say? I said I don't go for Coachella for the music.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And I kind of said that. And then I was like, wait, I really don't go to Coachella for the music. And I'm so proud. First of all, having Carol G perform headline Coachella as a Latina is insane.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
She's a second Latina to. Or no, first Latina to headline, right?
Fernando
Yes. First Latina woman.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Cuz Bad Bunny was the first one to do it.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
She brought out Becky G. What, what that represents for the culture means more to me than really the experience of, like, the music.
Karen
Yeah. You're there, like for the iconic moments.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah. But I don't know, man. I feel like you said like the EDM kind of music at Coachella, it.
Karen
It's better.
Josh Leva
It's a better experience for me. Yeah. But for example, like Justin Bieber, like, I was kind of like, it wasn't giving it. It just didn't. And look, dude, Mo is the. The biggest Justin Bieber stand I know. And she was so excited to go see him in the middle of the set. She was like, I'm kind of like, bored. Like, this is not giving me what I thought it was going to give, you know, so. And then also, you walk way too much, dude. This, the, the, the layout of the land is so massive, which is really cool. But you walk so much. It is so much walking. And is Coachella overhyped?
Karen
Go. I don't think it's. Look, call me spoiled, call me whatever. I know what I like.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
I don't like walking that much.
Josh Leva
It's a lot of walking.
Karen
Too much. It's hella dusty.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
It's so windy.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And I don't want to sit on the floor all day.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
You know, and I love it, bro. I. I had one. To be honest with you, this year was probably one of the best experience I've ever had. At the festival.
Josh Leva
At the festival.
Karen
Yeah, at the festival.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Karen
You know, at the. You know me.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And when you always. Obviously, I know you're going to invite me every year to the Tesla stuff.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But I don't think if it was for that, I wouldn't be going. Honestly, my favorite thing about the festival and the. And the whole weekend from Thursday through Sunday or Monday, whatever, is being at the house, of course, hanging out, eating, you know, the camaraderie that's around it, you know what I mean? And, you know, dressing up and stuff like that. And it's cool. It's a different experience than your normal day to day life. Right? It's cool. It's, you know, you kind of like, let go for a little bit and you enjoy music and I'm a big fan of music. But yeah, I. We went to go see moac, you know, at the Sahara desert, and that was insane. I always remember that set and it was so freaking cool.
Josh Leva
Yeah, so.
Karen
So, like, that's cool. But, bro, like, if it wasn't for like salu or the homies going or anything like that, bro, I would probably never go to Coachella. It takes a certain person, I feel, that really loves it. The one that likes to camp out, the one that likes to kind of like lay on the grass and, I don't know, do whatever you got to do to enjoy that experience even more. Trust me, I. I like it and I respect it, but for everything you have to walk for everything you have to fucking be in line for.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And yeah, I don't. It's like, it's also. I feel like it's kind of like a. I feel like it's like a. Like a who's who kind of game there. You know what I mean? It's like, who did you see who's dressed the nicest? It's kind of like, I don't know, sometimes it's like too la, you know?
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah, very.
Karen
It very much is, which is fine.
Josh Leva
But you know what's interesting? I feel like you only really get that online. I don't really feel like that when I'm there.
Karen
Got it.
Josh Leva
Right. It's only how the people post it and kind of portray themselves while they're at Coachella.
Karen
A lot of people also do, like the day parties, like at Revolve and they'll go to Pizza Slime at night or whoever's throwing a party. Right. And this year I said, I'm not doing any of that stuff. We did go to Revolve for a little bit. One of the days. So shout out to them for letting us go. But I'm like even a worst fan of that because that's a very who's who game.
Josh Leva
Yeah, that.
Karen
That it's Very LA there. And it's like, did you get in? It's. I don't like that. And, like, especially coming back from the festival, you're tired, and then you got to go to another after party, and 75 to 80% of the time, they're not letting you in, even though you're on the guest list. Like, it's just too much traffic. Oh, it's just. Just thinking about the traffic,
Brisan Fernando
bro.
Josh Leva
We need to stop saying it's LA because we need to stop giving LA a bad stigma because we're from la, we're born and raised from la, and it's. And we're not that.
Karen
Okay.
Josh Leva
It's more like that Hollywood life. Like, we gotta rebrand that whole thing because I'm hating. You're absolutely right on la. Yeah. LA is awesome. Yeah. I love this place.
Karen
You're absolutely right.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah.
Karen
I'm talking about, like, the little. But I get you. Yeah. Like being like, the. Like the whole fame in it.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
Type vibe, you know?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But I mean, I had a great time, but I.
Josh Leva
Look, I'm so fortunate that we were able to create an experience like that for. For creators and people to, like, come and. And have such a good time. Like at the. At the Salut House, bro. It was. Honestly, this is our third year hosting a house. It's only gotten better and better every single year. And the love and the. The energy that's in that household for that weekend, my favorite part, it's unmatched.
Fernando
And.
Josh Leva
And that, to me, is where my heart is. So I'm not trying to talk on Coachella, because Coachella is awesome. And obviously there. People love being there. But for me, like, where my heart is, when I. When you. When they ask me about Coachella, I'm thinking about the gas that is where my heart's at. And then, honestly, I'm not a festival goer, and if you're a festival goer, like, you're a camper.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You're in the trenches.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
My level of respect for you is. It's different. You're like, this is your thing.
Karen
This is.
Josh Leva
This. This is for you.
Karen
Yeah. One of our good friends came over for a little bit.
Josh Leva
Matt.
Karen
Mike.
Josh Leva
Oh, Mike.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
The twins.
Josh Leva
They're twins.
Karen
They're twins. Yeah. And he was just talking about his experience of, you know, he had a whole lineup ready. He's camping. I can see the joy in him. And he's just having a great time. His energy was so up.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And I'm like, this is a person that is a festival goer. He's a festival, you know, And I'm over here, like, damn, that's a lot.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
You know. No, but a lot. You know, it's just you were saying, like, am I there for the music and stuff like that or the artist. Yeah, I am. I love music, bro. But I rather go to their own private concert. Right.
Josh Leva
You know what's funny? Saul said we were talking about Justin Bieber, and, like, people were saying that his set was better, like, being watched, like, when they're recording on tv. And I left the Bieber set early and I went back to the crib, and we had, like, a really big, like, TV on the outdoor patio, and I watched his set, and I actually enjoyed it so much better just watching him as it was meant to be produced. It's almost like when you go to football games or, like, sporting events. Sometimes watching sporting events is, like, better on tv.
Karen
Yeah. Like when Bad Bunny performed at the halftime super bowl show.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
I love watching it on my phone, you know, like. Yeah.
Josh Leva
And then you watch videos of people watching him from the crowd, and it just doesn't give that, like, grand aura that. That it does on tv.
Karen
It's almost like it's just meant for the. The video or whatnot. But no, I had a great, fantastic time. We're always there with a really good set of friends.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And this time, you invited some really, really cool content creators as well. And it was just really cool, man. It's just really cool to experience that and great weather. You know, we're just, like, in the pool. Salu had an amazing, amazing house. Estate.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
You know, so.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
I do not regret it. I will continue to go, too, because at the end of the day, you asked me, do you. Did you love going? Of course.
Josh Leva
Of course.
Karen
I love being with my friends and family.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But I feel like next time it's just kind of like, dude, I'm like, I was telling Jessica or she was telling me, like, one day is enough. And it's true, bro. Yeah. Pick one artist and, you know, just give, for me personally, give all my energy that night and the next day, just relax, because there's nothing like relaxing at the pad, you know?
Josh Leva
Yeah, no, for sure, bro. You know what's crazy? And it doesn't. You kind of forget this when you're, like, in it. I'm talking, like, just personally, but we have been planning for Coachella for a year. Okay. We booked this house. We started talking to the owner of that house a year. Like, we left Coachella last year. Two weeks later, we were already in conversations with him. Since October, I've been on marketing calls for this whole. For this weekend. Every single week, bro. Every single week I sit down with stay golden, and we talk about every detail that goes into that house. And then it just happens.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And then it's just done.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
It's just so crazy, you know, like, how much you planning and effort goes into it. And the only way it can become that is by putting in that much effort.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You know, like, you have to give so much just for a moment to feel, like, special like that, you know, because that doesn't just happen, bro. You know, I can't wait till you get married.
Karen
I know. Your wedding, same thing.
Josh Leva
It's the same thing. Yeah. You. Yeah. Well, I'll have plenty of experience by, by that point, so I'll be good to go, but. Yeah, man. Another thing I wanted to say about it, because honestly, I find this stuff, like, very interesting. I don't know if you do, but, like, just the planning behind the brands of, like, getting to those points of the house. Like, for example, each creator that was hand selected to be. There was a lot of pressure on myself because I also want to make sure that we're creating the right vibe and energy for the house. And I. I did a thing where, like, I invited some people from last year and then I brought some new faces in, but they're still kind of associated with us through, like the podcast or just, you know, friends and stuff. But I don't know how everybody's really going to truly mesh. And I get. My favorite thing is just like, being able to, like, have a moment where I was just looking at everybody just vibing, vibing. And I was like, we did it.
Karen
Or like, connecting.
Josh Leva
This is because even all that planning that you do with all the detail stuff, you. If the vibe isn't there with you, it doesn't matter. And that's what I. I learned. So it's like you can get so caught up in that. But like, the people in the house, that energy, that's the thing that really drives it. That's. That's the heart of it all.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And that's the heart of it all.
Karen
Even though I've known some of these people, some of these people I've never met, like to leave knowing that I got connected even more with people that I kind of knew already.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Or.
Karen
Or connecting with people who I've never even met. And now we're homies.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
That's what you that's what I love to get out of this whole experience.
Josh Leva
Yeah. And I think we kind of have to touch on it a little bit. Look, I'm not here to gossip. I'm not here to, like, talk shit about nobody. We're. We're too old for that shit. Right. Like, the last thing we're going to do is this is not going to become a Cheeseman podcast.
Karen
Oh, I think I know where. Where you're getting at.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
Okay.
Josh Leva
It was very interesting because there's obviously a lot of other brands that bring creators out to the house. To houses, Right? Which one? Like I said, having the luxury of getting invited by a brand is a big fucking deal. Yeah, I've been doing. Like I said, I've been doing this for a long time. I've never been invited by a brand. So I think that alone, and if anybody gets invited, like, that is really cool. Okay. There was another house at Coachella, Adriana's Insurance, that was hosting creators as well, and people were comparing them to the Taste Saluth House, which, I'm going to be honest with you, I thought that was very weird. I remember I saw the first video, or they were, like, doing it, and I was like, that's like. I didn't even think. I didn't even.
Karen
I don't know. I was just like, what's the point of that video?
Josh Leva
I was just kind of like, okay, whatever. I was just like, there's no way this is becoming a thing. Right? Like, people comparing houses. And then it became a thing. It was all over my algorithm, and it just bothered me because I don't even think it was about the brands. I would think. I think it was mainly about. It was a Latino household, and both of these houses were like. Like, Latino influencers. So people just wanted to pin us together when that should never be a thing. You know what I mean? So, one, you got invited by a luxury brand. Two, we are Latinos together. If anything, we should be, like, united through this experience of, like, just being. I don't know, just being proud that there's actually Latino creators being invited by brands. And we're out here representing. Because, dude, you think about Coachella. Coachella is mainly an American white kind of event. You know what I mean? And now that we have Latinos there and doing it big and being invited by brands and, you know, representing, that to me, is special. That, to me is, like, cool. Like, we're doing, and that should be the focus. But that don't draw views.
Karen
Yeah, I know.
Josh Leva
And that'll get people excited.
Karen
Yeah. I personally, I think I saw the video, like, once.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
First of all, I didn't have any service the whole weekend.
Josh Leva
Good.
Karen
And I feel like when I'm at, like, the festival or stuff, I'm not really. Not on my phone.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
Until I get, like, a good amount of pictures and then I post them on Instagram and then I just continue my weekend. Right. Yeah. But, yeah, I just saw that and it was just like, it did upset me because I'm like, I can't stand when people make videos like this and try to compare. Because for me, we're some people that have, like, really tough skin. Like, I don't give a. What people say.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But I always feel bad because there's not. Everybody's like that. So I don't want anybody feeling. Whether they're in the house or whether they're at another house. I don't ever want them feeling like some sort of like. Like some negative energy towards anybody, you know, because that's what happens. Yeah. But, yeah, I thought that was funny. It's like, why try to pin people together? Like. And plus, some of the people that were at the other house are, like, friends.
Josh Leva
Right, right, right. It was awkward. Yeah. They even came to the house.
Karen
Yeah, we're chilling. What the fuck? I'm like, fucking social media is crazy.
Josh Leva
It is crazy.
Karen
But I guess that's just what happens when you be doing big things, baby.
Josh Leva
Man. I guess, bro. I'm guessing.
Karen
No, but it's good that you. You mentioned that.
Josh Leva
Yeah, I just. Because I knew I did. I got hit up by it. By a lot. Like, you know, people were asking me about it. I'm like, I think it's really stupid that we're being compared to anybody else. You know what I mean? One, we're a completely different. Entirely different brand.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Like, they're. She does insurance, right? Like, they do, like, car insurance and stuff like that.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
We're an electrolyte brand.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Like, you know, Adriana's insurance doesn't need to go as big as Salud does or vice versa. Right?
Karen
Yeah. Like. No, but it's true. Like, yeah, who cares? Yeah. Like, what the hell? If anything, insurance should have came over.
Josh Leva
Do you see how much promo she does throughout la?
Karen
This. Okay, I've mentioned it to you guys before, too. Like, let's take this opportunity and just spam her. Because I've told you guys before, like,
Josh Leva
you want to bring her on.
Karen
I want to bring out the Internet. Like, bro, I always see her everywhere. Every day, almost.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And she's the one that poses with her German shepherd, right?
Fernando
No, no.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
No, that's Veronica.
Josh Leva
But they're.
Karen
Are they. Are they related? I think they're cousins.
Josh Leva
They're cousins, right?
Karen
Yeah. Or sisters.
Brisan Fernando
They're family. They're family.
Karen
Oh, that's cool. Well, I don't know, but I see them both all the time, and I'm like, yo, this is like, one kind of powerful woman. Yeah, I kind of, like, I. With that, you know? And she's everywhere, bro. I kind of want to, like, pick her brain and, like, how did this start?
Josh Leva
And, bro, and not even to get into the whole, like, business side of this. Like, if you really wanted to get down to it, Adriana's insurance. She's everywhere, right? She's blasted on billboards. She's blasted on buses. Everywhere you can possibly think that you can advertise your face. She has done it. Okay? That is expensive to do. I've done billboards for salud. It is costly. So one thing people don't even understand is, like, marketing budget. Everybody decides to use your. Your marketing budget in different areas, right. And for her, the amount that she's spending on, like, out in the streets and stuff like that. We're not doing that. Salute isn't doing that. So it's like, you can kind of get into it, like, in that regard. It's like, we decided to do this because this makes sense for our brand to go hard at a festival that represents. I mean, like, to. That where our product is the most useful. Makes sense. Like, for her, it doesn't. She doesn't need to do that. She's doing it right by being on the streets. Like, the.
Brisan Fernando
The.
Josh Leva
Sorry, I'm getting too into it, but
Karen
yeah, I get it.
Josh Leva
She's doing car insurance. She's where she's supposed to be.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
She's on the freeway billboards where people are driving their cars. You know, like, that makes sense.
Karen
So she's. She's one of those top dogs in. In that industry because it's. It's her. It's. It's. I don't know if that's the sister. The. The cousin. And then there's called Jacob.
Josh Leva
Yeah. He's also. He always does a yellow background.
Karen
Yeah. He's a big laker.
Josh Leva
And then he. I could feel like. I feel like his creative team. Like, we'll just pitch him stuff. I don't know if you've seen the ones where he's upside down.
Karen
Yeah, yeah.
Josh Leva
For no reason.
Karen
Injured, upside down.
Fernando
Jacob.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah.
Karen
That's it.
Josh Leva
Just.
Karen
I hit him up before his team and they. I forgot. I actually did him up because I'm telling you, these are people that, like, kind of run the show in la. Like, when it comes to. Due to, like, insurance or whatever.
Josh Leva
Are they only in LA or is that.
Karen
I think that's like their. Well, I don't know. I think I saw Jacob in Arizona one time too, but I might be wrong.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But it's like, at the end of the day, if I was like, jacob, brother. I'm like, yeah, like, we run the show with insurance, but we also run the Billboard world.
Josh Leva
Right.
Karen
Like, that's crazy.
Josh Leva
Yeah. For those. I just. For. Just to give a little bit more context. I don't know. I know we have a lot of listeners outside of California. There is these, like, powerhouse insurance companies. Adrian's Insurance is one of them. And she goes unbelievably hard on the marketing throughout la. Like, you can't drive three minutes without seeing her face. And they're not little ones, they're massive, bro. And that's what I'm trying to tell you. Like, she's doing it right. Like, the way she's spending her marketing budget. Like, she's doing it right.
Karen
Yeah, she's. I don't know. I. I've talked to the team already. I was like, yo, I. I should try to get, like, insurance on. Like, it's just cool.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But then when I saw that they were comparing it to that brand, it didn't make me happy because I was like, oh, now she's going to see us, you know, like, maybe she'll come on the podcast, you know? I was like, nevertheless, like, the, The. The BS videos that were going on. But I was like, oh, that's kind of cool. But I was like, that's kind of crazy how, like, I wanted her on the podcast, like, not so long ago.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
And now they made this dumb video.
Josh Leva
I'm also honored that we got compared to a brand like hers.
Brisan Fernando
Right.
Josh Leva
Because, I mean, it's obviously like, she's a powerhouse, like you said.
Karen
Of course.
Josh Leva
And I would love to bring her on and I probably will ask her about it.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You know.
Karen
Yeah, of course. We'll meet up next. Next year at Coachella.
Josh Leva
Yeah. But join forces.
Karen
Yeah. But, yeah, it was a great experience. And. And thank you.
Josh Leva
Are you thirsty?
Karen
No.
Josh Leva
Do you need insurance? What do you need?
Karen
Yeah, no, but I was just gonna say, like, thank you and your team. You guys did an amazing job. Thank you, bro. From waking up to having this, like, I think it was called Space Space Coffee. Like, those guys were so cool. Liquid courage.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
The. The Claudia, the chef that we had, like, just everything about it, you know, stay golden was there. Just really on top of everything. Like, everybody had an amazing time. Just very comfortable experience. And, yeah, bro, that. That one was one for the books, for sure.
Josh Leva
I see a lot of the comments. People want to go to the. To the Salud house.
Karen
Right.
Josh Leva
I want to figure out something next year where I can get people there, but it's got to be done. I got it. Because, I don't know, I got to think about this, but it would be cool to maybe do, like, some sort of giveaway where we pick, like, maybe five listeners to come to the house.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
One of the days and just kind of hang out and kind of just be in it for a little bit, you know?
Karen
Yeah, Yeah.
Josh Leva
I think that could be awesome. So we'll figure it out. Yeah. Stay tuned. We got some ideas.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
But speaking of. Of festivals and. And partying, we got some special guests that we're gonna bring on.
Karen
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And I'm excited to talk to these people.
Karen
Me too.
Josh Leva
We've actually partnered with them because, Lucky, like.
Karen
Yeah. Speaking about, like, legends in here in LA running the show, they're like. I feel like becoming one of them because, yeah, they're throwing one of the, like, craziest parties that you can actually attend. And I believe it's on the first Friday of every month. And I think this summer, they're doing, like, Fridays and Saturdays now. And I'll say, okay. It's, like, one of the places to go to for. Especially for us Latinos.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
You know, and it's blasted everywhere. I know you guys know who I'm talking about. And so they're gonna come on right now in a bit. Are we gonna go on a commercial break or. Or should we just bring them in, or.
Josh Leva
Commercial break.
Karen
So we definitely got some questions lined up for them. I don't know, maybe we can do, like, a giveaway, some tickets to. To.
Josh Leva
To.
Karen
To.
Josh Leva
But wait, bro. I have something special.
Karen
I'm, like, talking too much.
Josh Leva
You're taking away.
Karen
I'm, like, looking at the camera. I'm like, yeah. Should I be saying all this?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
But, yeah, let's. Let's go on a short break and bring them on.
Brisan Fernando
Let's do it.
Karen
Cool. Yep. All right. Let's go. Hey, dare I say.
Brisan Fernando
And I'm going say that. Show my chest.
Josh Leva
We had the best Coachella experience at Coachella. We stayed at the Best Coachella house.
Unidentified Guest
We did see online that we're getting compared with our friends. We're getting compared with literally all our friends. But yeah, Eddie, DEZ and Louie were getting backlash because they had the. The Virgin Mary. And I was like, okay, y' all literally dragging it. Y' all want to be mad at anything cuz we were talking about, oh, it's so disrespectful. First of all, it's their religion. And then second, if y' all want to cancel them for wearing that, then go cancel spirit Halloween for having the pope costume, the Jes costume, the nun
Josh Leva
costume, stop on these necks.
Fernando
And I'm not.
Unidentified Guest
I'm not no one to judge, but if y' all want to be judging, I could sworn I seen a lot of with who be wearing a little Jesus necklace or be wearing a Rosa Guadalupe's necklace or be putting it on your nose and. And you're taking a shot smoking weed. So I'm like, what's the difference between them wearing it on their shirt and you wearing it around your neck?
Karen
And we're back from a commercial break. We haven't had those in a while.
Fernando
That was a long commercial.
Josh Leva
Long commercial. I got my.
Brisan Fernando
I got discount codes.
Karen
Yeah, too long. But I did tell everybody back at home that we have some special guests. We were actually talking about legends in the making here in Los Angeles.
Josh Leva
Oh, they're made. The legends are made.
Karen
I think they're made already, to be honest with you. Ladies and gentlemen, we have today Brisan Fernando from G for the the first Fridays here in. In Los Angeles. I love micheladas. And not only that, amazing friends and amazing people that we've been blessed to know throughout our journey. So everybody, a warm welcome. Applause. Is that what you say? Is that what the green go say? Let's do it.
Josh Leva
We're so excited to have you guys. You guys are. You guys are doers. You guys get done. You guys do it big.
Karen
They do get done.
Josh Leva
And you guys have been doing this like such a high level. And you guys just continue to raise the bar. I just want to say I'm proud of you guys.
Brisan Fernando
Thank you so much.
Josh Leva
My first I love Michael's experience was
Brisan Fernando
the one that last May.
Josh Leva
Yeah, it was the one that we did last May. And I was mind blown like how big it was. And I've heard of it. I have so many friends that go to it every single. They don't miss a month.
Karen
We have some die Hards, man.
Fernando
We love our dude.
Karen
People go to First Fridays more than they go to me.
Fernando
I'm going to rewind though. I'm going to say we. I, I, I, I scolded Josh last time. I was like, we dropped the, the now we're just. I love me.
Josh Leva
Oh, cuz I asked you right.
Brisan Fernando
No longer first Friday.
Josh Leva
He was like, right, right.
Fernando
Because we it every first Friday. We're still every first Friday of the month. But before. I feel like that's what people started calling it for some reason. And also it was in the fire. But we're just I love micheladas now. We're just I love me. And it's every first weekend of the month now because now we're doing two nights.
Karen
I was telling them that I think it's more than just one day now.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
I hope you're ready.
Karen
I am ready. I have to prepare myself for those kind of events. And I think that's why I've only been like once or twice, but I think once actually. And like Josh said, I was mind blown and the amount of people that go. And it's like a ritual for them, you know?
Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
It's really cool what you guys have created. Just real quick, I kind of like to give you guys your guys's flowers because, like, I, it's just so cool how you guys are doing it. But you guys are family, you know, how does that feel to, to, you
Josh Leva
know, to be working.
Karen
To be working family. Yeah. To be working with each other and like.
Brisan Fernando
No, that's. I think that's the number one question we always get. I love that number one question we
Fernando
get is like best friends.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Like, what's it like working with your siblings? But honestly, it's easy for us.
Josh Leva
Can I think, can I give my analysts real? Because I feel like I have this dynamic with, with my business partner Tyler. You guys know your roles and what your guys's strong suits are. And you guys lean in on those.
Fernando
Shout out to Tyler.
Josh Leva
Yeah. You guys don't cross. And as long as you guys don't cross, cross those you guys can excel. And that kind of what it is like, it's just, I'm good at this. I'm good at this. And we join forces together. We can do something crazy.
Brisan Fernando
Not, not fully. Because I feel like there's a lot of things where there's overlap.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Brisan Fernando
And we're still like working up. I think it has more to do with the way we grew up.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Brisan Fernando
You know, because when we moved to the U.S. we moved in 94. We moved into a room of an apartment. We didn't have an apartment. We had a room.
Fernando
We lived in. We lived in the bedroom of my aunt's apartment.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
And it was a two bedroom, one bathroom. So we're a family of six. So six of us had to live in a bedroom and then we had to share a bathroom.
Karen
Wow.
Brisan Fernando
So growing up like that, we just got along and learned how to work together.
Fernando
We just had to get. We couldn't.
Karen
There's no choice. Yeah.
Fernando
And if we did, they would get nasty.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
Because my parents would leave to work. Right. And they would leave their kids. The four of us. By the way, who trusts four? Four. I would never trust four of us. And
Josh Leva
I mean going after it.
Fernando
I mean I feel like we got all of that out.
Josh Leva
Oh, okay.
Fernando
So now there's no. There's just.
Brisan Fernando
Now we know each other's moves. We can't fight anymore.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
That's like the matri almost like me and my sister like de las patadas. Just like.
Karen
That's so cool.
Brisan Fernando
I love.
Karen
We would tie each other up.
Fernando
It was awesome. They tied me up once cuz I couldn't stop. I couldn't stop crying cuz I. I was a crybaby and I couldn't stop crying and my sister and my brother tied me up.
Karen
That's so up.
Fernando
Wow.
Brisan Fernando
That's what it's like growing up. And then I. I feel like because of that.
Fernando
I think they call it trauma bonding.
Karen
I think there's shout out to trauma bonding.
Fernando
I think there's like an actual word for that.
Karen
I love that.
Josh Leva
So what's like the origin story of. I love Micheladas? Like where. What was like the beginning? What's the start of this?
Brisan Fernando
So the, the. The product we have the Michelada mix. I love me actually begin. Cuz at the restaurant we've been selling enchiladas for years and years. You know, we.
Karen
I know.
Brisan Fernando
And then this guy. Yeah, that's how. Dude. When you guys start following us. That was crazy. Crazy moment.
Karen
Can I just say something real quick? Sorry. Before you do this amazing story. I met them. When was it? 10 years.
Brisan Fernando
10 years ago, I think. 10 years ago.
Karen
I don't even think you had it borrowed yet.
Brisan Fernando
No, I'm probably not.
Karen
No. So when me and Karen first moved to downtown la, I think it was the old maybe.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
I remember when I first moved to la. I didn't know who nobody was. I didn't know who Fernando was. I remember we were keeping in touch and me and Karen went to Galagaza. Right. And that's. And I Love that restaurant because I love the way it looked from the outside. It was like the old member or the brand Obey. Yeah. You know, Remember they had those, like, stencil paintings? Well, they have something very similar, and it was beautiful. I said, what is that? So I go in. So I go to the restaurant. Sick vibes.
Fernando
Oh, Sebastian, a lover of the arts. I like this about you.
Karen
Yeah? Yeah. Oh, for sure. That's what. That's what intrigued me and the food. But so I, me, I take my. My wife on a date and we get there and we have the most amazing time. And what does that always like to get? A Michelada. Right. And I'm picky when it comes to Micheladas because my family's from Jalisco and there's a certain way that we do the Micheladas. And I ordered a Michelada and I go to the bar and I say, hey, let me get a Michelada. And I taste it and it's phenomenal.
Brisan Fernando
It's a real Michelada.
Karen
It's a real Michelada. And I asked the guy, what is in here, because I wanted to know if it was the same ingredients from. From my family from back home. He couldn't really tell me, but he said he's. He's. That. That they would sell it.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
So I bought one. And ever since that, I think I tagged you guys or I hit up Galaghetza or whatever. And bro, me and you started becoming cool. Remember? You.
Brisan Fernando
You pull up to your party.
Karen
We, we, we, we. We told you guys, if you guys go to the party.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, yeah.
Karen
And then like. Yeah. I don't know.
Brisan Fernando
Pulled up with the Michael Mobile.
Karen
Yeah. With the Mitchell movie. Everybody loved it.
Fernando
And I'm just a fan of your wife.
Karen
Yeah. And then it was a party. Like, I think Karen was hosting the
Brisan Fernando
Color Pop party was the first one. And then we did your birthday party. That's right.
Karen
Remember the colourpop party?
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, that's the first.
Karen
That's the first time.
Brisan Fernando
That's right. But that's actually how the company started with someone like you. Right. Someone came to the bar. They loved it. They were like, I love this. Can I get it? And we're like, all right, we'll just empty tequila bottles. We'll fill it up with the mix. They were like, how much? We did math. It was like 25, $30.
Josh Leva
Oh, you guys started just selling the mix.
Brisan Fernando
Just selling the mix. Because that's what we were doing. And this guy bought like four bottles. So, like, literally that day. Rich dude. No, that day we're sitting down trying to think of. Because, you know, like, we took over the restaurant suck.
Josh Leva
But on profit wise, you're saying, right? Or just like the whole business model,
Fernando
I mean, the business model of the restaurant, you're. Especially in today's age, you're very lucky if you even hit like 5, 7% in a restaurant.
Karen
It's just brutal what happened at the time.
Brisan Fernando
It was right after we took over the restaurant. My parents retired. They moved away. But they moved away right after, like the worst recession ever.
Josh Leva
So when we took 2008.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah. Around that time.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
They left to Mexico. We took over. There were days where we had zero customers. Right. We're just like cleaning glasses.
Fernando
Yeah. My parents had to actually declare bankruptcy. It was so bad. We lost so much.
Brisan Fernando
Little by little, we build it up that restaurant. And we got to, we got to the place where like, it was getting packed again, right. So we were literally sitting down, being like, okay, we can only fit so many people in here. What's the next move? So we're like, are we going to sell like, Molly online? Do it. We open up online. We open a Shopify store early. Shopify, like before people knew what it was. We were like, skeptical, right? And now it's legit. But then around the same time, this guy walked in. That's. That happened. We're like, oh, what about the Micheladas? We can like turn this into a thing and do is what, Whatever. So we, we started bottling up. It took us forever, like, figure out the label and all this because we, when we do things, we do things backwards. We realized, yeah, like, we always like, like to make it ourselves and do everything right. So then at the same time, I was driving through Koreatown and I saw a VW on the street. And I pulled over and I talked to the guy on the porch. I was like, hey, mevendes to Tucaru. It was some old guy who's like, no, you know, it's been my family forever. But I was like, all right, I'll be right back. I went to the restaurant, I got $6,000 in cash, but I put 2,000 here. I put 2,000 here and 2,000 in the back pocket, right? So I go back, I'm like, hey, I'll give you cash right now. He was like, what do you got? I was like, listen, I got 2,000 right here. He was like, no, familia, whatever, whatever. I was like, listen, all I got is 2,000 more.
Josh Leva
After that, I'm done, bro.
Brisan Fernando
After that, I have no more he
Josh Leva
was like, all right. I was like, all right, for sure.
Brisan Fernando
Wow. Went home with two extra in my back pocket.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
So he made 2,000. And
Brisan Fernando
I want to say I made
Karen
it, but you saved it.
Fernando
That's how I would have made it.
Josh Leva
And I would have gone, I need $2,000.
Brisan Fernando
Drove back to the restaurant, little by little, restored it into what it is. Yeah. But we restored the food. Fully. Fully restoration.
Josh Leva
Wow.
Brisan Fernando
And then we started posting that online, and that's when you guys were like, yo, you guys got to bring it to this pop.
Fernando
That became the Me movie. And then we started building content around it. We started bottling now we were. And then we started being in Northgate. And as life happens, you're trying to figure out, how do you get. Listen, you do the same every month. How do we get people to buy more Sundance, Right? So we're like, how do we get people to buy more Michelada bottles? How do we get people to get more mixes? How do we get this piece product to move? And we had entered Costco at that moment, and we were trying to figure out, like, how do we get it to move? And we were trying to figure out, what do we do? What do we do best is gather people together and throw sick as parties. We've been producing events. My father produced an event for 10, 20,000 people, like, 20 years ago, 25, 30 years ago in Los Angeles. And he just. And we just watched him do it,
Brisan Fernando
like, at the sports arena.
Fernando
The sports arena.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
My dad went to the sports Arena, I think, 25 years ago and ended
Brisan Fernando
up at the hospital from stress.
Fernando
I think, like, 20, 000. To travel from all over California for this one day, to recreate, it just blows my mind. My father can't even speak English.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
I mean, if you think about the will and we just watch this happen.
Josh Leva
Determination, magic.
Fernando
But it's just like. Magic.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Like an actual magician wizard creates these things.
Karen
It really is.
Fernando
So we're like, what do we do? And we just love creating events. We love creating experiences. We come from the hospitality industry. We were beaten down in the restaurant industry. So we just love. Just love to make people feel good.
Karen
I love that.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Oh, it's like. That's what fills me. It's so. It's just the best when I watch everyone come in to one of our events, and they're just so happy.
Brisan Fernando
Hosting people.
Fernando
Hosting people.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
We call it restaurant owner energy, you know, and you just walk in and you just like. It's like the best.
Karen
I know. I love that.
Fernando
Oh, yeah, but it's really horrible. Margins don't do it for the energy. But we. So we put together like an event. It was the first Friday of the month. It was March 8th. It was women's History Day. I put it together with my girlfriend who had a vet, who had a Benny boy. It's a brewery. And we called it Ladies Night and we packed it. We had like 500 people show up that day.
Karen
I remember this.
Fernando
So fun.
Brisan Fernando
It was the biggest, biggest day sales they've ever had.
Fernando
The meet your man who's out here back there. Say hi. Me too, man.
Karen
I recognize.
Fernando
It was amazing. And then we like, like, let's do it again. And we did it the first one. Let's do it the same first.
Brisan Fernando
The common space. Another brewery.
Fernando
Another brewery. And we did Noche de Pareo.
Josh Leva
I think year is this, by the way.
Brisan Fernando
Three years ago.
Unidentified Guest
Years ago.
Brisan Fernando
Three years ago.
Fernando
And they were like, let's run it back again and let's do like a banda night.
Brisan Fernando
And we was also their biggest sales day. So every brewery we went to, they were like, dude, this is the biggest sales day we've ever had.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
We were like breaking records, right? And we're like. We were still like, doubting, like, is it us? Is it the brewery? We'll see. We moved to LA Grape Brewery. We did a band that night. That's the first night that the tamboraso came and it just changed everything completely.
Josh Leva
Oh, wow.
Fernando
And then for there, we're like, we have to do Panda night again. And then let's do it again. Then we went bigger. Then we went to a brewery in Long Beach.
Brisan Fernando
San Pedro.
Fernando
San Pedro. San Pedro. I won't even go into details on that one. We had to leave and took and take production our own. And I think that was like the biggest blessing when we had to leave that brewery because of bad.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Everything that happens happens for the best because you flip it into a blessing.
Fernando
The other day I ran into these texts. Text that I was going through. And I was reading the text back and I was like,
Brisan Fernando
that's when we took it to. To Pasa la Cultura downtown.
Josh Leva
Oh.
Brisan Fernando
And I remember when we moved over, you know, because we were. We were packing this brewery. We're every brewery. We were just packing crazy. And we went. The first month it was like light. And we're like, ah. Like, is this the right move?
Karen
Got it. Yeah.
Josh Leva
The.
Fernando
The first month that we took on production, we moved from a huge brewery space in San Pedro to back to Los Angeles. And it was Just us. We didn't have the. A brewery to fall back on. We didn't have there.
Karen
The.
Fernando
We didn't. We hadn't kept everyone's information that had gone to the event. It was just.
Josh Leva
Oh, wow.
Fernando
We. We had. We had. We had to stop from the beginning.
Karen
Got it.
Fernando
And we had to pull all in. We have. And we have to pay for the party. Like, we pay for the party. I always tell people, when you walk in somewhere, someone always has to pay for the party. And just like, my girl math. I have girl math, too.
Karen
Girl math is working for you.
Brisan Fernando
Girl math gets you through it.
Fernando
Yeah, I. I saw something. My girlfriend put something on the Internet. She said, the universe is my credit card. And I'm like, you know what? I'm gonna take that one, girl. Because sometimes I feel like the universe is my credit card. We'll figure it out. But we just, like, betted everything on. We produced. We produced the first night. And it was scary. I mean, we.
Brisan Fernando
The first night because it was. I think it was like December.
Karen
Oh.
Brisan Fernando
So. But.
Josh Leva
So.
Brisan Fernando
But it was a feeling of, like, we gotta keep going. Every month we made a promise to the people.
Karen
Right?
Fernando
And it. We. We. Don't get me wrong, people got there and it was credit and it was fun.
Brisan Fernando
It was fun. But it was like. But we knew.
Fernando
But we were like, wow, my goodness. It was. It's been. But.
Brisan Fernando
But even then, like, the first month was like that, and within three months, we had the fire marshal shutting us down because it was too packed.
Josh Leva
Oh, shit.
Fernando
Wow.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
And then we had to find a different venue.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Because that venue. I love that venue. Yeah, it's a beautiful venue. It's beautiful, but it's, like, almost too beautiful.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Where they have grass and all these things, bro.
Karen
We the grass so much.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, we the grass up. And they're like. They're like, we love you guys.
Fernando
Did you go with that? Yeah. You were there.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Josh Leva
So fun.
Brisan Fernando
So fun. But they were like, you know, and they were nice about it. They're like, you know what? Your project is getting a little big.
Fernando
Yeah, I think so. Oh, that was so fun. Oh, well, it started raining in one of them.
Brisan Fernando
One of the most beautiful moments.
Fernando
And it was so. We were. Oh, my God, we're sweating, cuz. You know, obviously you put. You put all your money on one night.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
Like, you're betting all. Like, I. We're crazy. We're. We're crazy.
Brisan Fernando
Don't try this at home, like, every night with all your money every night.
Fernando
So, you know, you're like, is it going to rain? And if it does.
Karen
Oh, you're right.
Fernando
It's. It's so much that you're on the line.
Brisan Fernando
It was on the forecast, but it kept getting pushed and it was like, you know, like the forecast and then
Fernando
plan B so that. Okay, cool, we're going to get tense. But then that goes all your profit because you know, then you couldn't even break even. Okay, cool, now you're dipping into sa. It's just so it. We're crazy.
Karen
Sure.
Fernando
But it started raining towards the end and it was. Oh my God. Some of the best shots we've gotten.
Brisan Fernando
I mean, it's like imagine. Imagine you're drunk, you're dancing all night, you're sweating and all a sudden you look up and there's a light drizzle. Cuz it started life. It started light and it just felt like. Like those concert shots where people are like on top of each other like that. That's what it felt like.
Karen
Vibes were so high that people.
Josh Leva
That's what they wanted in it.
Brisan Fernando
It's like, it's like we paid for it, got it.
Fernando
And you're like. And then, and then things started breaking and we had to go and.
Josh Leva
But. But everything that happened right at the
Brisan Fernando
end, that happened right at the end. And at the very, very end, like, it was just natural. It was like, all right guys. Well, like the time, it is time to go. And people ran to their cars and it was a vibe. It was a vibe. It was so great back then.
Fernando
We were doing it until midnight and then we moved to the Beehive with the new venue that where we did a takeover.
Brisan Fernando
That's where we are till now.
Fernando
Now we're trying now. We did wine night, which is a
Josh Leva
great location, I feel, but.
Brisan Fernando
But even then, right, because it's a great location now that it's successful. But the first time you do it, it's like, well, we know a new area, it's unknown. And again, same thing because we were packing that place with like 2400 people.
Josh Leva
Wow.
Brisan Fernando
Now we're jumping up to the capacity is 4,000 the first times we're doing it. So it's like, ah, we gotta double it because even if we get all the people, it'll still look light.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
You know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. But now you, you like that venue that you've already done a couple times now you're just like, you know what? Let's use this space for that.
Brisan Fernando
So now and for every month, we just moved it like you Know what? We didn't like this. Let's move it here. Like the bar.
Karen
Let's just try it.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, let's try this. Let's try, like, the way it is now is completely different than when we started.
Karen
How many employees do you guys have
Brisan Fernando
working for that night? Yeah, at that night, we have about 95 to 100.
Karen
No way. It's that many people?
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
Really?
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
Damn. That's crazy. Wow. That's insane.
Josh Leva
What about, like, day to Day?
Brisan Fernando
Day to day, like, at the warehouse, probably less than 10.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Brisan Fernando
That's like our core court.
Fernando
Yeah, yeah, we have our court. We. So it's. My brother and I, we have a creative director shout out to.
Brisan Fernando
She's amazing.
Fernando
I mean, you know the.
Karen
All the.
Fernando
All the beautiful graphics that she does and directs.
Josh Leva
Oh, she's brilliant.
Karen
Yeah, she is brilliant.
Brisan Fernando
And quick.
Fernando
I mean, we have. We have. And then we have her a social media sui. We have the me man, obviously, the legend.
Karen
Legend. Yeah.
Josh Leva
Dude. He's an icon. He really has become an icon.
Fernando
It's Crazy Eddie. Whose heads her video. Yes. Mina, who heads her photo also, by the way. That's like, I. I took that note from Josh Lever. That's why I learned so much. I. I took so much from working from him last year. I was like, okay, so who does he have on a team? Okay, I need one of those. I need one of those. I need one of those.
Brisan Fernando
That's actually been one of the coolest things of doing the event the way we do. We have a partner every month now because that started. That's also started.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
So we. Our first partner ever was Paisa Boys.
Josh Leva
Who, you know Joey.
Brisan Fernando
Right.
Karen
Of course.
Brisan Fernando
Great guys.
Josh Leva
And that's a big company, like, partner.
Brisan Fernando
Dude, they're dope. Every time we work. So then what we learned is that every time we work with someone dope, we learn so much. Yeah, yeah, right. With. From Joey and how you learn so much.
Karen
And it always makes sense because, like, just like, bicep boys in general and like, even salute. It's like we all have the same core of, like, whether it be, like, values of that or anything. Culture, you know, it's the same people rocking with it, you know, so it just makes sense.
Brisan Fernando
And it's like the same plus more. Like, everybody has the same plus more.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
So then the way the more you do the things together, the more you all grow.
Fernando
I feel like it's like our own Marvel universe.
Karen
Yeah, exactly.
Brisan Fernando
And the mcu, the Michelada.
Fernando
Here's the cinematic universe, Captain America.
Karen
Yeah, it's like we're all the Avengers. Yeah. We all meet up to, like, Captain Mexico.
Josh Leva
Yeah, exactly.
Karen
It's really.
Fernando
Who would you be? Who would you be? What's your.
Karen
I don't know. Who would I be?
Josh Leva
You'd be.
Fernando
I mean, you could be anyone. I mean. I mean, Duke is giving. What's a merman? What's the guy.
Josh Leva
Oh, yeah. Aquaman.
Brisan Fernando
Aquaman.
Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
Is he part of the Avengers, though?
Fernando
But I mean, you know what it means.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, he's on the D.C. side.
Fernando
He's on the D side. But I mean, whatever.
Josh Leva
You know what I mean?
Fernando
Right?
Karen
Aquaman.
Brisan Fernando
But instead of fish is also ceviche.
Fernando
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
See, you can be whoever you want to be.
Fernando
It's our own world.
Karen
That's actually so good. Imagine a movie, just aqua.
Brisan Fernando
You brought the style. And just ceviche just jumps on.
Karen
Yeah. Let's not talk about. I'm sorry. Hungry.
Fernando
Like, how was going to say secret ingredient, but it's also a. A gift.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Oh, sorry.
Karen
Yeah. Yeah, that would be good.
Brisan Fernando
I want to.
Fernando
My brain is gone.
Josh Leva
Yeah, I get it. Trust me.
Fernando
I need some salud. What? I always. I thought I was going to just give in. Salud. As I walked in here, I was.
Brisan Fernando
That was part of the thing.
Josh Leva
Yeah, I know. We're covered with. Do you want one? We can make it happen.
Brisan Fernando
Dude.
Fernando
I would love one. My son is. My son loves this.
Karen
Really?
Josh Leva
How old is he?
Fernando
He is 11.
Josh Leva
Okay, cool.
Fernando
And he low key. My. Starts languing these at school.
Josh Leva
Please, please.
Fernando
I think he. So he started slinging Arizona teas. Five bucks a pop.
Karen
No way. And I was like, what's the profit on that?
Fernando
This would make more sense.
Josh Leva
A lot easier to kind of manage.
Fernando
Listen, it's just, you know, as you know, you're not moving water. It's just powder.
Karen
Yeah, because how much is he like. Because he's profiting. How much more? And he can only probably carry like three.
Fernando
You know, speak on this. But you know that he. Him and his friend actually buy out a kid who already sells them. Buy out the kid and then resell them.
Josh Leva
Wow.
Fernando
Because I don't think this ice tea
Brisan Fernando
is getting stepped on.
Karen
Yeah. That's crazy because now it's like you don't even got to go to the store. He basically has iced tea coming to him.
Fernando
Never mind.
Karen
Maybe Hustler.
Fernando
When I get in trouble.
Karen
Yeah. Did you want energy or. Or did you want the regular hydration Immunity?
Brisan Fernando
I'll take immunity.
Karen
Okay, cool.
Brisan Fernando
That's what I need. At all times.
Fernando
Place for you Guys, here, the ham is made. I love the ha.
Josh Leva
Oh, you want the haika one? I got the haika one as well.
Fernando
Here.
Brisan Fernando
Thank you so much.
Karen
This is.
Fernando
It's so good.
Karen
I got hamika right here. You have some ready?
Fernando
Yeah, yeah, I have some.
Karen
Okay.
Josh Leva
Oh, ham. Sorry.
Fernando
No Ha.
Brisan Fernando
My son just did a photo shoot for you guys.
Josh Leva
Oh, no. Yes.
Brisan Fernando
Little Benny.
Fernando
Look at both of her kids. Look at.
Karen
You.
Fernando
Got real kids.
Josh Leva
He did it with Berto.
Brisan Fernando
That's right.
Karen
That's amazing. That's right.
Brisan Fernando
You got shot at my house.
Josh Leva
Yeah, we.
Karen
Berto's, like, one of the biggest for I Love Me, bro.
Brisan Fernando
Talk about MCU connectors.
Josh Leva
Berto, he's. We recently brought him on maybe like three months ago, I want to say. And he's. He's another. He's so smart, creative.
Fernando
He's like our cousin.
Josh Leva
He's great all around, for sure.
Karen
One thing that I really like about, like, our friendship and the people that we actually hang around with and just rip it, dude. Just. No, I'm looking for, like, you know, like, even, like, with you guys and stuff. I love the fact that us, like Latinos, we always see similar faces because, like, for example, if we. If. If TEU has a brand or la platica has these people working for them, we all kind of share, like, the same amount of, like. Yeah, you like it.
Fernando
Like, when I tried the first time, I was like, I get it.
Josh Leva
You know what's funny?
Karen
They nailed it.
Josh Leva
It's.
Karen
No.
Josh Leva
Okay, so we've been doing this for five years now. Until this day, I swear to you, I'm not just saying this. Like, I would even say this off camera when I drink Salute, it still blows my mind how good it is.
Fernando
No, I get it. I feel the same way.
Josh Leva
Damn. This is.
Fernando
Is.
Josh Leva
This is good.
Fernando
No, no. And every time I have my food, too. I feel the same way. But yeah, my restaurant, I'm like, no, no, no, I get it, I get it.
Karen
Yeah. No, it's. Whoever is the scientist behind these stuff. They're insane.
Brisan Fernando
He's right there.
Karen
The best. The best of the best.
Fernando
It only has 1 gram of sugar per packet, right? Yeah, I checked it out.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
Because I do. I'm like, I had. My child was like, how many? I'm like, okay, one gram of sugar.
Karen
Yeah, that's it. You know, a lot of them have,
Fernando
like, a lot more.
Josh Leva
Well, yeah, yeah, yeah. A lot of them have become sugar free, though, because they see, like, that's kind of like the new wave of, like, products like this.
Brisan Fernando
But But a lot of them are not salute, so don't worry about it.
Josh Leva
Yeah, I know they're not 100.
Karen
And I'll be honest. Like, I've even told Josh, like, when he came out with horchata, I was, like, a little skeptical because I was like, you're gonna mix it with water? Like, just straight water.
Fernando
Skeptical.
Karen
And then. Because even when I go to the restaurants, you know, like, I'm always like, I like to. I like to judge.
Josh Leva
Who cares? Yeah.
Karen
You know, I'm like, let me try your haika, you know, And I love how I personally like hot take. Haika is better than orchata for me. It's more refreshing. But I love horata. Right.
Fernando
Have you had restaurant, though?
Karen
The actual.
Brisan Fernando
You got to come to. Oh, you've been together.
Fernando
Have you had orchata, like our.
Karen
No, not yet.
Brisan Fernando
You got. Have ours.
Karen
Yeah, no, but what I'm saying, like, I'm not going to really get no ch. Like, it depends where you are.
Brisan Fernando
Like, Torinos. I got to chat them.
Karen
Oh, really?
Fernando
Yeah, yeah.
Karen
So when I. When he first came out with that, I was like, you need some sort of, like, milk base. Don't you like to make it? Really?
Josh Leva
You don't, but, you know, never milk.
Karen
Oh, really? Yeah, yeah.
Josh Leva
It's just.
Karen
And I tried, and I was like, this is insanely good. And it's one of the most sellers.
Josh Leva
Yeah. You know what's funny? When we came out with it, I also had that fear, too. I'm like, are people. I like the idea on paper seems cool. Revolutionary, right? Like making a hydration horchata. Yeah. But is it really going to appeal to people in that way? And I'm not gonna lie, I don't know if I've talked about this before. In the beginning, it didn't. It didn't. Like, people were intrigued, but it didn't have that appeal that it does now. And it wasn't until Tick Tock Shop, where Tick Tock Shop was able to, like, really introduce it in a way to people that it just resonated. And then it just became. I think it's our number one now.
Brisan Fernando
I've been seeing, I think, of videos of, like, old white guys being like, my salud.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
Oh, my God.
Brisan Fernando
Everybody loves it. It's crazy.
Karen
It's another world.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Tick Tock Shop is the future for sure. Have you guys done any products on Tik Tok?
Brisan Fernando
We're trying. That's our next step.
Josh Leva
Okay, cool.
Fernando
We haven't done it, but I do want to go back To. I love Michellas because I'm very excited that for the first time. So we going back to the story of the event.
Josh Leva
Yes.
Fernando
Forever. We've been wanting to do a Ferris wheel. It's kind of been the thing we've been wanting to do for a long time.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
It's like, who we're going to do a Ferris wheel with? With. Who are we going to do a Ferris wheel with? And now that we're doing two nights back to back, and I talk to. I. I call him Uncle Tyler.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Tyler. I'm like, you think Theo Tyler would want a fer Ferris wheel?
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
So Uncle Tyler's coming through.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And Uncle Fernando's coming through as well.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And we're getting him a Ferris wheel.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
For the salute.
Karen
Nobody knows this.
Josh Leva
No. Unless you're listening, you're gonna pull up yourself. Gigantic fair wheel. Ferris wheel. Oh, my God. It's gonna be crazy.
Fernando
It's gonna be a salute Ferris wheel. And I mean, we're gonna. I mean, we're, like, gonna do it. When we had our conversations, we ran into each other in Oaxaca.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
Do you know this story he told me? Yeah, for a little bit.
Fernando
So random. I was in Matatlan, of all places. That's where my dad's from. I was in my tia's house doing Dia de los Muertos. We were hanging out. It was getting. The conversation was getting too heated with the Diaz. I was like, I'm gonna go for a walk. I went for a walk. I turned around, and then one of your video guys came up to me.
Josh Leva
Luis.
Fernando
Luis. And said, are you the Michelada girl?
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
Yes, I am.
Josh Leva
Right?
Fernando
And I turn around, and she was like, oh, Josh is right there. And I turn around, and all of a sudden I'm like, that's so radiant, Tyler. And they made a little Matatlan.
Josh Leva
And I'm like, yeah, bro.
Fernando
What?
Josh Leva
And I'm leading the band that. You know that video? That's how she got me, bro.
Fernando
And I was like, what, Erica? My eyes failing. Is this a dream?
Karen
Like, what is happening right somewhere that you grew up going to? You know, it's like, you see this dummy over there?
Fernando
It was just, like a random. It was just so random. And then we talked about we got to run it back in May.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
We're like.
Josh Leva
We were, like, kind of on the fence if we were going to do it or not, because we were like, maybe we want to do something different this year. But honestly, the success was just wild last year, which, by the way, I haven't even announce that we're gonna be at I love micheladas.
Karen
Oh, yeah, that's. What? Like, is this exclusive? Oh, sorry.
Josh Leva
Yes, yes. We're running it back May 1st, May 2nd, we're taking over I love micheladas. We're doing it bigger. We got a Ferris wheel this year. It's gonna be insane.
Karen
Right?
Josh Leva
And. And I'm just. I'm so excited. One thing.
Fernando
We shot a novella.
Josh Leva
We. The promo is wild. What's the promo? Probably when this drops, is gonna start rolling out.
Brisan Fernando
Right.
Karen
So I can't wait to see that, actually.
Josh Leva
It's a lot of fun. I heard about it on the way. We have some special guests in. In the. In the videos as well. It's just gonna be an insane time.
Karen
Two worlds are gonna collide once again.
Josh Leva
I'm a little nervous to do a back to back day because the night one last year. I gave my heart and soul, and I plan to do it again.
Karen
All right.
Brisan Fernando
You know.
Fernando
Oh, my God. You did. I was like, josh, please, I want you to go up there. I want you to get the bandana. I want you to wipe the sweat of your. Of your brown and then just throw it into the audience.
Unidentified Guest
Okay.
Fernando
And he was like, okay. And he did it. We got the video. And I was like. And all the girls were going crazy.
Karen
Just like.
Fernando
I mean, it was amazing. Amazing.
Karen
Yeah. Yeah. I saw it.
Josh Leva
I'll do it. I'll do anything.
Fernando
Yes.
Karen
I. I think it hit a girl like a wet tropo.
Brisan Fernando
I heard it.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
You know, before this, we're talking about running and, like, how it's like a mental game. Yeah. And I feel. That's how I feel about Saturday. Friday. And Saturday you got.
Josh Leva
Just got.
Brisan Fernando
We do Friday, we go hard. And now, like, on Saturday, I woke up and I'm like, oh, my God, I'm tired. My body hurts.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
And you show up and you see everything and just get like event energy.
Karen
So this. And you're like, yeah, let's do it next week.
Josh Leva
Yes. Tickets are gonna be live.
Fernando
Tickets are dropping today.
Josh Leva
Tickets are dropping today.
Fernando
Salute. Tickets are dropping.
Josh Leva
We're also. We're doing a meet and greet this time, right?
Fernando
Oh, yes.
Josh Leva
Which I'm really excited.
Brisan Fernando
You get to meet angry.
Josh Leva
Yeah. And I, I. You're part of it.
Karen
Oh, yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
So you're also meeting.
Fernando
Greeting.
Karen
Okay. We're doing this on Friday.
Brisan Fernando
Well, he's doing the meeting. You're doing the greeting.
Karen
Yeah. Okay. Meet Josh. Nice to greet you.
Fernando
You're doing both nights.
Josh Leva
I'm technically Doing a Friday and Saturday. I would love for you to be one of the days, if you are down, to do it potentially Friday. I'm putting you on the spot right here. There's a look that se gives me sometimes where he's like, you.
Fernando
You have to do two nights if you.
Josh Leva
If.
Karen
I'll try to do two back to back, baby.
Josh Leva
For sure.
Karen
One for sure. Friday, I'll be there.
Josh Leva
All right. Okay.
Karen
100. You. You're getting a guarantee from Sarah. No, no, no.
Brisan Fernando
That's worth.
Karen
Yeah, Like, I'll be there Friday. I promise you. Yeah, I'll be there. I'm gonna roll up with Josh.
Fernando
You're gonna be hard.
Karen
I'm ready to meet and greet.
Brisan Fernando
That's worth three of his pinky rings.
Josh Leva
That's right.
Karen
Yeah. And, yeah.
Fernando
But, yeah, we're running it back again.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Fernando
We're so excited. I. We. I. I love. I love working with your team.
Josh Leva
Yeah, no, amazing, man.
Brisan Fernando
We do too.
Josh Leva
We do too.
Fernando
And I'm a big fan of Tyler.
Josh Leva
He's great.
Fernando
I'm a big fan of Tyler. Everything you guys have done.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And we're so excited to just kind of make it bigger. He was like, let's make it everything. Let's make it bigger. How can you make it more impactful?
Karen
I'm like, oh, I love that. Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
So we got a lot of other things.
Karen
So where can they get tickets?
Josh Leva
The links are below.
Karen
Okay.
Josh Leva
There's different packages that people can buy. Early access. Is that like. What's that?
Brisan Fernando
Not really. We have a. There's early, but by that. By now it's sold out. By now it's on. Early access. Sold out.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Brisan Fernando
No, we have just general admission. So I'll tell you this about our event. Let me.
Fernando
Let me go over the tickets. Wait, we have general admission tickets, 25 bucks. And then we have our salute ticket, which includes a wonderful, beautiful, gorgeous bottle. One of a kind that we designed.
Josh Leva
Is a shame. You know how we have the La Plata one?
Brisan Fernando
One.
Josh Leva
This is the I love Micheladas one that. It's beautiful.
Brisan Fernando
Beautiful.
Fernando
And a ton of salutes. So then you get your salute tickets. That's one ticket. And then you have the. The baby daddy ticket. That's when you get to meet and
Karen
greet your baby daddy.
Fernando
The Josh Leva.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
In person, in the flesh. You get to see that the muscles are real. Ladies, these are not even AI like I saw it. It's actually real. And you get to meet Sebas.
Karen
Yeah, yeah.
Fernando
You get to see his hair. You get to smell his Hair.
Josh Leva
You get to, like, touch it, maybe
Brisan Fernando
you get to feel the aura.
Fernando
You get to. To be in the aura. And I feel like the aura. Sevas's aura is, like, beaming.
Brisan Fernando
Bring a bottle. You can package it.
Fernando
Package it.
Josh Leva
Like a little airbag and contain it.
Brisan Fernando
Contain.
Fernando
So we have those three tickets.
Karen
I want to do a sweaty trle, too.
Fernando
We don't. We don't have. We don't have VIP tickets. But you tell them why.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah. So, okay, so our event, like, we're talking earlier, right? We do everything backwards. We do everything like the way you're not supposed to. Every event has, like, bottle service and vip. We just don't believe in it. For our event, for this event, maybe eventually it will. I don't want to say, but, like, I just like the idea of everybody having the same experience. Right. We're like, every single person who comes, no matter who you are, you have the experience. Because I've been to a lot of other events where, like, we'll be in the VIP area, and at the end, you're like, it's kind of whack. Yeah, but you weren't in the event. Yeah, but you can't say that. It was.
Josh Leva
So you don't know.
Brisan Fernando
So you don't know.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
So we just want everybody to have the same event, the same vibe. And I've. I've had so many experiences at our event where people are like, yo, it was actually really fun. I danced. I did it.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
I'm like, yeah, because you were out with the people. You were hanging out.
Karen
Exactly.
Fernando
What makes me the happiest when past partners come back just to hang out.
Brisan Fernando
Just to hang out.
Fernando
It's the same feeling that I have when people who work with me in the kitchen on their day off come and eat at the restaurant. I'm like, thank you.
Josh Leva
Yeah, you don't have to do this.
Fernando
You don't have to come and eat here.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
So when, for example, D D Oro.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
Regular.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, he just shows up.
Fernando
He just shows up. Obviously, I'm always like, okay, we gotta get security around him. Yeah, but we have so many girlfriends. Cheeky's.
Josh Leva
Oh, I saw that.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Was that not planned? Like, that was not, like, part of the.
Fernando
No, no, it was not planned. She texted me. She's like, hey, I want to come. Like, girl, yes, of course. Let's hang out. I'm telling you. But I love hosting. I love hosting. I just love hosting.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And, you know, we hosted her, and she was like, I want to go up. I'm like, go make everyone's dream come true.
Karen
Yeah. It just goes to show what an amazing event you guys just throw and just people just, you know, I have to be there. I' ma just pop up. You know what I mean? It's the place to be. I'm not joking. Like, everybody that I know, every time that. That time comes around, especially spring, summer, you know, or like, summer, it's like, if you're not there, I mean, where are you?
Brisan Fernando
We're there all year. All year.
Fernando
You know what I love the most, too? I love that our girlies show up.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
There's some beautiful women that come to our event. My God, our women.
Josh Leva
Is it majority girls?
Fernando
Let me come back.
Brisan Fernando
It's like 70, right?
Josh Leva
There's so many girls.
Fernando
But I would say okay for all the girl. If there are any girls listening, I would say there's some handsome men in there too. There are.
Brisan Fernando
Josh.
Fernando
I was telling my brother, we should do a video telling people. Telling girls, like, there's guys here. He's like, oh, come on, you should. People want to hear about pretty girls. I'm like, people want to hear about.
Brisan Fernando
Guys don't sell tickets.
Karen
Yeah,
Fernando
maybe they will.
Brisan Fernando
From my experience doing content. Because I'll. I do like men on this, on the street type content. And I've tried so many times getting guys. Guys are just not so.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Like, forward. They're not so willing to be on camera the way girls are.
Karen
Yeah. They don't have energy.
Josh Leva
I mean, that's true.
Brisan Fernando
And they'll ask like. Like 10 guys. And I'll get, like, one good response. Yeah, I'll ask 10 girls. I get 10 grades.
Josh Leva
Everyone.
Karen
Yeah, everyone.
Fernando
But, yeah, there's some. There's some beautiful women. There's some handsome. And I love the way they just show up and they come in full fits. Oh, yeah, it fits.
Brisan Fernando
Custom fits.
Fernando
It makes me. I'm like, you've been thinking about this.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
You plan for this. You, like, took the time. You went. You woke up this morning knowing the makeup you were gonna wear, the hair you were gonna do, like, the boots that you're gonna wear.
Karen
Because going to I love Michelle is about the outfit. It's about, you know, it's about posting it out.
Brisan Fernando
The experience.
Karen
It's saying you're there. It's showing off your outfit. You know, everything about that event. It's cool. We actually have some questions for you guys, and I have one specific question that. That came up to my mind. And. And for somebody who hasn't gone to the. I love Michelada event. What's kind of like a cheat sheet for them? Like, what time should they get there at?
Brisan Fernando
As early as possible.
Karen
What. What's a. What's a good outfit for them? Where should they go first? Should they eat first? Is there a certain place to go to?
Brisan Fernando
You get. You get their aids.
Karen
What's the best experience? Not just, you know, I don't. For the people that go and they never been. I don't want them just walking around figuring it out. What's. What's the good one?
Brisan Fernando
You get there at 8. You come in through main entrance.
Josh Leva
I don't think he got the question. Can you just give it to him one more time?
Fernando
Time.
Brisan Fernando
I missed the last part. You come in, you immediately make a left. You sign up, you get a tattoo right there.
Josh Leva
A real tattoo.
Brisan Fernando
You get a real tattoo. Not a little like this one.
Josh Leva
Like a real.
Fernando
You're going to be able to get a salute tattoo next.
Karen
Yeah, like it'll f. And we giving out tattoos.
Brisan Fernando
Yes. You walk in, she it get a tattoo.
Josh Leva
I think that's a good start. Right. Just get the tattoo out of this other.
Brisan Fernando
Because. Because it fills up. It fills up. The, the weight list fills up.
Karen
Damn. Okay, so we get it. We're getting tattoos first.
Brisan Fernando
A lot of people. People do.
Fernando
I saw a girl who had 13.
Josh Leva
Oh, any. For all the events that she's been at. That's crazy. Shout out to her.
Karen
Wow.
Brisan Fernando
After that.
Josh Leva
So she has a salud one too then?
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, I think she does. Yeah. She has a skull.
Karen
She has a skull.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah. After that, get something to eat.
Karen
Okay.
Brisan Fernando
You know, get some tacos. Oh, get a drink. Get a Michelada.
Fernando
He needs to take a picture in the photo booth.
Brisan Fernando
Get a picture of the photo booth. We have separate repeat with the.
Fernando
The branding and maybe the bull before the food. Or is that later.
Brisan Fernando
You want to get that later. Once you. Once you're like, later, get some food, get a cocktail. After you get a cocktail, get in line to get a. With this guy coming. His ugly bad portraits. And he'll do like these portraits. They're so cute.
Karen
Like, so cute character caricatures.
Brisan Fernando
Not like a caricature. Not like in the way you. You think it's a new way of looking at it. It's kind of like, like a.
Karen
Like he chooses your bad features and he enhances them.
Brisan Fernando
No, no, it's. It's like a cute stick drawing. Almost got it. It's cute. I'll show you a picture. Yeah, it'll be right here.
Fernando
Look in the comments below.
Brisan Fernando
But it's. Yeah, it's really, really cute. I'll get one of those. Because also the lines get long, you know, our activations. Photo booths.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
And after.
Josh Leva
That's long. If you really want to do something, I'd say, do it, do it, do
Brisan Fernando
it at first and then walk around and then ask someone to dance. I think, like, that's number one thing, you know, if you're a guy, ask a girl.
Karen
I love that.
Brisan Fernando
If you're a girl asking, I gotta dance. Dance.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
Like, I think that's what's really cool about the event. People are actually.
Josh Leva
Everybody dances.
Brisan Fernando
Everybody's actually having fun and enjoying themselves. I love them doing that.
Karen
I want one of those when I come.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, that's like, they're super cute.
Karen
Or else I'm not doing the main
Fernando
green, but the dancing. I will say I. I do have a shot. I'm kind of backstage and I'm taking a video, and it's one of the only times where I'm in a place where no one's on their phone.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
I mean, everyone is just dancing in the moment.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah.
Fernando
Have you guys seen that Pixar movie, Soul?
Brisan Fernando
Yes.
Josh Leva
I love that.
Fernando
Okay. Do you know that moment when he's in. In the. In the flow state and everyone's just like, yeah, that's. Dude, I legit. I feel. I mean, I'm kind of like, wooey. You know, and every time I'm there and kid, you know that we always get like a full moon too, right? It's like, I think 90 of the time we've had a full moon. Yeah, it's beautiful. It's like. And I legit see just like all our beautiful energy just collectively coming together and everyone's in the flow. And I. The one thing I always tell people, I told Pedro, I was like, pedro, because he takes the photos. I'm like, do you see what it's like to love your culture? This is what it's like to love your culture.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And he's like, dang, whatever you're smoking, I want some of that. I'm like, wait, for real, though. Like, I'm like, this is what it is like to be here in, like, the heartbeat of la and everyone just love who they are. Just. I love being Mexican American. I love being me and whatever that representation is, right? And just dancing and having a good
Josh Leva
time and just fully immersed and then
Fernando
just, like, being them. Oh, it's so pretty. Beautiful.
Brisan Fernando
But I think that's a beautiful thing about, like, this podcast, right? This podcast, our event. What we're doing, what I tell people is like, it's a culmination of our. It's. It's our. How we're defining being Mexican American. Right. Where it's like we have one side of the DJ stage. That's our LA stage.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
And then we have the other stage. It's all banda. And to me, that's our Mexico state.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
And it's like we're both like, just because I like banda doesn't mean I don't like hip hop, reggaeton and everything. And just because I like hip hop and reggaeton doesn't mean I can't also like banda. So people show up with their, like, the high nose, their boots, sombreros, and they're doing reggaeton. Right. It's like, we're not one monolith. Like, we're not defined by whatever people think we are, defining what it means for ourselves. And I feel like that's what this podcast is about too, right? Where it's like, we're defining this new generation. Like, you can put us in this, like, category, but, like, really, we're creating it.
Karen
Yeah, exactly. Yeah. 100. I love the way that you put that.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
We did have another question for them as well. Okay, I got it.
Fernando
If you could describe to someone who's never been. Because I think you've never been.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
Like, how do you describe it? How do you describe. I love micheladas.
Josh Leva
I think the way you talked about it earlier right now, just being like, immersed in, like, your culture in LA and that. That whole vibe, that aura of it all.
Karen
Yes.
Brisan Fernando
How do you describe being in heaven?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
Yeah. You just feel like you can just be you. Like, you just feel. And you feel safe.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
You feel safe to be who you want to be. You don't have to pretend to be anyone. You're just you. And I mean, you can just see it in the way people dress, the way people talk, the way people act. I love walking. I call it walking the floor. Again, because I come from the restaurant industry, but I love walking the floor. I love talking to girls. I love talking to the people, to our attendees. I love to hear where they're buying their clothes. I love to hear where they're watching, what they're. I just love. Because these are people. This is. This is who we are. This is. This is the foundation of our culture.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
And how amazing that they love who they are. And I cannot wait to see what comes out of that, because I think I come from a generation where you weren't allowed to be in a place like that. And if you were, you were kind of general market, where, like, you're chunti or you're to this or you're to that. Where now we are the general market. Like, we are. We are it.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
As my son would say, we are him.
Karen
We are him.
Brisan Fernando
Well, you grew up and there was that old saying, like, notice.
Karen
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
But now it's like, no, someone's.
Karen
I love that, man. I love that.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Karen
So next question was, what are some top three songs that get the party going? Party.
Josh Leva
When you know that song's coming out, it's about to be active.
Karen
Three.
Brisan Fernando
I'll tell you. We've been doing events forever, and I have this fight with DJs all the time where, like, DJs wanna. They. They have this concept of an event where, like, oh, I gotta ramp it up, right? I gotta start slow, right? Easy, ease into it.
Josh Leva
That's true.
Brisan Fernando
And I tell people, no, you gotta start hard and end hard. We gotta go bangers all night. There is no beginning because people are coming in all day, Right. We don't believe in the concept of that. You have as a DJ there. I'm like, they have this flow, gradual build. Now it doesn't exist because people are experiencing every moment live from the moment they walk in.
Josh Leva
They need you to hit them hard.
Brisan Fernando
Yeah, you got to hit them hard from the very beginning. Now there's logistical issues around there that I've learned, right? Where it's like, well, I don't want to, like, play this song because that DJ is going to play it.
Karen
And they're like, sure, I don't want
Brisan Fernando
to step on his set.
Josh Leva
But like.
Brisan Fernando
But like, well, let's do it again. Yeah. Yeah. For real. I'm down.
Karen
Listen to La Chana three times.
Brisan Fernando
That, like. Like. Like Jay Z and Connie.
Karen
Yeah, exactly.
Fernando
Is that song somebody. And they're gonna come after me. I think that song hits every time.
Brisan Fernando
There's so many songs that hit. I mean, like, I think every night.
Josh Leva
Oh, that one.
Brisan Fernando
I mean, when that hits. But, like, you gotta. You gotta, like, be in a certain part of the night and you drop it. And we have speakers everywhere, and that's a crazy feeling to watch people everywhere in the event just do.
Josh Leva
That's like. That's almost peak event, right?
Fernando
Like 4, 500 people doing the Caballo Dorado at the same time across an acre of space.
Josh Leva
It's like a little bit of an earthquake across la.
Fernando
And it's such a beautiful. It's such a beautiful Scene.
Karen
I love that. I love that. I know you spoke about like the, the, the memorable moment of the rain that, that you know, that you always remember. That was so beautiful. Is there another memorable moment that stands out at one of the events that you guys have thrown?
Fernando
You mean when Josh Leva threw his sweat into the audience?
Josh Leva
You mean another moment outside of that?
Fernando
My goodness. Honestly, I would think, think like when we announced two nights for the first time when we.
Josh Leva
Oh, that was when we finished.
Fernando
It was two months ago. Like the feeling of when it was done of like we just did. We just sold out two nights.
Karen
Wow.
Fernando
And it was successful and nothing happened. And it was just like this moment
Brisan Fernando
of like some things happened.
Fernando
I mean so many things happened, but we figured it out. But it was just, ah. I think it's just that feeling. Just the feeling of. I mean there's. Yes, but I mean as far as the moments, so many moments. I mean Cheeky's on stage. I think I started to cry. I legit cried because I cry because she has a beautiful voice and because it's her.
Brisan Fernando
But the moments.
Fernando
But I think I cried for everyone because I think four different people came up to me and said, why would I cry now? He's like, this is the closest I'll ever be to her mom. I'm like, like
Josh Leva
powerful.
Karen
Yeah, exactly. That's. It's so crazy. And you know what, you're right because you know, even her sitting here like what, a week ago? Oh yeah, you. You do feel that from her. And not only just her, like her, her sister as well. And you know, there's this, there's this aura that they have, you know, and it's very special. And if I felt it, I can't even imagine like other people feeling on.
Fernando
She hadn't seen Banda in a very long time. I think two years. So when she went up there, she just bare her soul and she sang so beautiful. I mean she was really going and everybody was in awe. And it was just so beautiful to see so many little girls dreams come true because there were so many women there who hadn't seen her, who could only dream of being with her. And there were these girls also. They were taking their picture on the photo booth and then they turned around, they saw her and then she got on their picture.
Josh Leva
Oh my God.
Fernando
Oh my God. I mean they like they were going crazy because I mean I felt like if she. And like if this is. If you're the queen bee, this is your beehive. I mean everyone here loves you so it was just so beautiful to be able to see so many fans light up.
Josh Leva
Yeah, that's her home. That's like where you belong.
Fernando
Yes. So that I think to me that that moment was so powerful to me and so special to me.
Brisan Fernando
It was like the Oro, like seeing the power of the Oro.
Fernando
Oh my God.
Brisan Fernando
When we dropped the tickets, bro, that was crazy, dude. Just seeing the power, dude.
Karen
He's such an amazing person and such a great guy.
Brisan Fernando
He's such a great person.
Josh Leva
Yeah, he's.
Fernando
I could like go here and just gosh over Dior for the next hour. How incredible human being he is, just like soul. Oh my God, I'm so impressed. The talent, the actual talent that he has for the craft, like the music and his passion.
Josh Leva
He's been doing this for such a long time.
Fernando
Yes.
Josh Leva
And he's still in it. He gives everything.
Brisan Fernando
Everything.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
And he's so talented. And the actual talent.
Josh Leva
His patience was like the meet and greet after too. After just doing like a set and being around people. Like, I just know how great he is. I just. He's brilliant, man.
Fernando
He did a great greeted meat.
Brisan Fernando
But yeah, you know what? Also like, not just cuz you're here,
Karen
right, and we're on your show and
Brisan Fernando
everything, but when you went, you, I think you were the first person that we saw the power of the crowd when you're walking through it. We needed extra security and we needed to move the barricades and we like, it was crazy. That was the first time that happened, man.
Josh Leva
Yeah, it was. Yeah, it was for us.
Brisan Fernando
That was the first time that happened for us where we had to like. Because before that we're like, okay, Josh is coming. Like, yeah, like we need extra security, we need to do this. But then seeing it happen, like, no, we need like more security.
Fernando
Josh saw me
Josh Leva
smell them.
Karen
No, it was really cool. I mean even just me, we had such a freaking blast, man. I was just like, the fact that like finally LA has something like this, you know, and the fact that I know the people throwing it, it's insanely.
Fernando
You can come anytime. The come and party once a year at I love micheladas. Okay.
Karen
No, I'm going to do more than once a year now.
Fernando
They come. We do it every first weekend of the month.
Josh Leva
That's what it is.
Fernando
Friday or Saturday, depends on the month.
Brisan Fernando
I think we're, you know.
Fernando
Oh yes. Well, July. Except July, I think. July we July, cuz the 1st.July 4th, the 4. The first weekend of the month in July is 3rd and 4th.
Karen
Yeah.
Fernando
And we've come to realize that people just. That's. That's up there with like Thanksgiving and people.
Karen
No, that's fair.
Fernando
And people. And people's like, sure, we might be
Brisan Fernando
able to do it, but we know.
Fernando
Yeah, he would go. He, he. This man would work. He would not care.
Brisan Fernando
But I was, you know, for. For New Year's, I was trying to push a team to do a New Year's party. They're like, you know, it's too close. We're like, everybody, everybody needed like, like a time sometimes.
Josh Leva
Yeah, it's a lot.
Karen
Well, man, we can't wait.
Josh Leva
So.
Karen
I love michelados.com.
Josh Leva
i can't wait to see you guys. I can't wait to party with you guys. We're doing two nights back to back, Friday, Saturday. It's gonna be the event of the year. And if it's not enough for you, they got it every month, so. So let's make it happen. I can't wait to see you guys there. I'm so excited that we got a chance to talk to you guys and hear more of the story of what you guys have created.
Karen
I.
Josh Leva
And I know I don't just say this like loosely. I'm so unbelievably proud of you guys. Thank you so much, guys. And know you guys personally and see your guys's passion and heart in. In this. No wonder it's a wild success. I just saw it. I was just like. I got. I literally had a moment. I was like, I get it. I see it now.
Fernando
I see that when I see you
Brisan Fernando
guys, how I feel about you both. I mean, the first time I met you guys. So yeah, crazy.
Fernando
That's how I feel about you. And I love your wife.
Karen
Thank you.
Fernando
Do you have some of her aura in your pocket? You can bottle for me and send it over, please.
Karen
That's why that, that's why I radiate. I think it's because of my wife. So I appreciate that and thank you guys so much for your time for being here.
Josh Leva
Yes.
Fernando
Thanks for having us. We'll see you. We're kicking off the summer. We're kicking off the summer.
Josh Leva
Summer.
Karen
Ready, bro?
Brisan Fernando
This is.
Fernando
If you're not there, I mean, listen, okay, I know we're way off like that. Maybe won't get published.
Josh Leva
It doesn't matter.
Fernando
I'm going tell you this. You want to get tickets early to this one?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Fernando
This will sell out. Like, we have sold out.
Josh Leva
It's guaranteed.
Karen
All of them.
Unidentified Guest
It's guaranteed.
Fernando
So please, if you're listening to this right now. That means you're one of the early ones. Stop what you're doing and go get your ticket, because we won't release a third night. That's it. We only get him for two nights.
Karen
The worst thing is when it's like, the day of. And you're like, damn, I don't have a ticket. Like, don't do that.
Fernando
Don't do that.
Karen
Don't do that.
Josh Leva
Are people reselling tickets?
Karen
Is this okay?
Brisan Fernando
That's a big thing.
Josh Leva
I could only imagine. So it's like, that's not you guys. That's other people, and that's.
Brisan Fernando
And, you know, like, we're very strongly against raising our tickets too much.
Fernando
Oh, yes.
Brisan Fernando
But at last, we kind of had to do it because it's like, either we raise the tickets a little bit or, like, we let people scalp it for, like, 75 online.
Josh Leva
That's crazy.
Brisan Fernando
That's what's happening right now. People are scalping for, like, $75. People are, like, doing scams.
Karen
That's crazy.
Brisan Fernando
They'll be like, oh, I'll sell you ticket, and then you get the money, and then you never get a ticket.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Brisan Fernando
So just buy it directly from.
Josh Leva
I love.
Brisan Fernando
That's it. That's the only place. That's good.
Josh Leva
That's good.
Brisan Fernando
That's good.
Karen
I love that.
Josh Leva
Okay, guys. And we'll see you May 1st and 2nd, baby.
Karen
I love. Let's go, baby. And we got the Ferris wheel, baby.
Josh Leva
I'm be all in that.
Karen
Me too. All right, guys. Take care.
Josh Leva
Love you guys.
Karen
Bye, guys. Thank you, guys.
Brisan Fernando
Thank you.
This vibrant episode dives into the hosts’ recent Coachella experience, explores the culture of influencer “houses” at major festivals, and goes deep with special guests Brisan Fernando and Fernando, siblings and masterminds of the growing LA-based event "I Love Micheladas." From candid critiques of Coachella's vibe to inspiring stories of building community-focused parties, the episode is a celebration of Latino culture, entrepreneurship, and redefining what it means to create “the place to be” in LA.
On Coachella's Latino presence:
“If anything, we should be united through this experience of just being proud that there’s actually Latino creators being invited by brands.”
—Josh Leyva (00:00–00:17 & 15:16)
On what matters most:
“For me, the most important thing is the camaraderie...the energy, that's the thing that really drives it.”
—Josh Leyva (14:22)
On anti-VIP:
“We do everything backwards. Every event has bottle service and vip. We just don't believe in it... I just like the idea of everybody having the same experience.”
—Brisan Fernando (56:55–57:24)
On the unique party environment:
“One of the only times where I’m in a place where no one’s on their phone. Everyone is just dancing in the moment.”
—Fernando (63:05)
On celebrating Mexican-American duality:
“Just because I like banda doesn’t mean I don’t like hip hop, reggaeton... We’re not defined by whatever people think we are. We’re defining what it means for ourselves.”
—Brisan Fernando (64:39)
The episode is a heartfelt, often hilarious celebration and critique of modern festival culture through a uniquely Latino lens. With a focus on community over clout, substance over spectacle, and culture over competition, Sebas, Josh, and their guests show how it's possible to create inclusive, meaningful events—by the culture, for the culture. Whether you’re a partygoer, aspiring entrepreneur, or just a fan of good vibes, this episode overflows with inspiration and practical insight.
