Right. But I never one. I'll be honest. I've never been invited to Coachella ever. So I never really had a reason to go. So obviously being at Coachella for my brand makes a lot of sense. But we got into the studio today and Jess, camera four, our producer, she was like, what did you think of the festival? Like, which is. Oh, you said Carol G. You asked me what was my thoughts on Carol G. And what did I say? I said I don't go for Coachella for the music.

And I kind of said that. And then I was like, wait, I really don't go to Coachella for the music. And I'm so proud. First of all, having Carol G perform headline Coachella as a Latina is insane.

The biggest Justin Bieber stand I know. And she was so excited to go see him in the middle of the set. She was like, I'm kind of like, bored. Like, this is not giving me what I thought it was going to give, you know, so. And then also, you walk way too much, dude. This, the, the, the layout of the land is so massive, which is really cool. But you walk so much. It is so much walking. And is Coachella overhyped?

And the whole weekend from Thursday through Sunday or Monday, whatever, is being at the house, of course, hanging out, eating, you know, the camaraderie that's around it, you know what I mean? And, you know, dressing up and stuff like that. And it's cool. It's a different experience than your normal day to day life. Right? It's cool. It's, you know, you kind of like, let go for a little bit and you enjoy music and I'm a big fan of music. But yeah, I. We went to go see moac, you know, at the Sahara desert, and that was insane. I always remember that set and it was so freaking cool.

Yeah, so.

So, like, that's cool. But, bro, like, if it wasn't for like salu or the homies going or anything like that, bro, I would probably never go to Coachella. It takes a certain person, I feel, that really loves it. The one that likes to camp out, the one that likes to kind of like lay on the grass and, I don't know, do whatever you got to do to enjoy that experience even more. Trust me, I. I like it and I respect it, but for everything you have to walk for everything you have to fucking be in line for.

And yeah, I don't. It's like, it's also. I feel like it's kind of like a. I feel like it's like a. Like a who's who kind of game there. You know what I mean? It's like, who did you see who's dressed the nicest? It's kind of like, I don't know, sometimes it's like too la, you know?

It very much is, which is fine.

But you know what's interesting? I feel like you only really get that online. I don't really feel like that when I'm there.

Right. It's only how the people post it and kind of portray themselves while they're at Coachella.

A lot of people also do, like the day parties, like at Revolve and they'll go to Pizza Slime at night or whoever's throwing a party. Right. And this year I said, I'm not doing any of that stuff. We did go to Revolve for a little bit. One of the days. So shout out to them for letting us go. But I'm like even a worst fan of that because that's a very who's who game.

That it's Very LA there. And it's like, did you get in? It's. I don't like that. And, like, especially coming back from the festival, you're tired, and then you got to go to another after party, and 75 to 80% of the time, they're not letting you in, even though you're on the guest list. Like, it's just too much traffic. Oh, it's just. Just thinking about the traffic,

We need to stop saying it's LA because we need to stop giving LA a bad stigma because we're from la, we're born and raised from la, and it's. And we're not that.

It's more like that Hollywood life. Like, we gotta rebrand that whole thing because I'm hating. You're absolutely right on la. Yeah. LA is awesome. Yeah. I love this place.

The energy that's in that household for that weekend, my favorite part, it's unmatched.

And that, to me, is where my heart is. So I'm not trying to talk on Coachella, because Coachella is awesome. And obviously there. People love being there. But for me, like, where my heart is, when I. When you. When they ask me about Coachella, I'm thinking about the gas that is where my heart's at. And then, honestly, I'm not a festival goer, and if you're a festival goer, like, you're a camper.

You know what's funny? Saul said we were talking about Justin Bieber, and, like, people were saying that his set was better, like, being watched, like, when they're recording on tv. And I left the Bieber set early and I went back to the crib, and we had, like, a really big, like, TV on the outdoor patio, and I watched his set, and I actually enjoyed it so much better just watching him as it was meant to be produced. It's almost like when you go to football games or, like, sporting events. Sometimes watching sporting events is, like, better on tv.

Yeah. Like when Bad Bunny performed at the halftime super bowl show.

[Josh Leva]

Yeah.

I love watching it on my phone, you know, like. Yeah.

And then you watch videos of people watching him from the crowd, and it just doesn't give that, like, grand aura that. That it does on tv.

It's almost like it's just meant for the. The video or whatnot. But no, I had a great, fantastic time. We're always there with a really good set of friends.

And this time, you invited some really, really cool content creators as well. And it was just really cool, man. It's just really cool to experience that and great weather. You know, we're just, like, in the pool. Salu had an amazing, amazing house. Estate.

Yeah, no, for sure, bro. You know what's crazy? And it doesn't. You kind of forget this when you're, like, in it. I'm talking, like, just personally, but we have been planning for Coachella for a year. Okay. We booked this house. We started talking to the owner of that house a year. Like, we left Coachella last year. Two weeks later, we were already in conversations with him. Since October, I've been on marketing calls for this whole. For this weekend. Every single week, bro. Every single week I sit down with stay golden, and we talk about every detail that goes into that house. And then it just happens.

And then it's just done.

It's just so crazy, you know, like, how much you planning and effort goes into it. And the only way it can become that is by putting in that much effort.

You know, like, you have to give so much just for a moment to feel, like, special like that, you know, because that doesn't just happen, bro. You know, I can't wait till you get married.

It's the same thing. Yeah. You. Yeah. Well, I'll have plenty of experience by, by that point, so I'll be good to go, but. Yeah, man. Another thing I wanted to say about it, because honestly, I find this stuff, like, very interesting. I don't know if you do, but, like, just the planning behind the brands of, like, getting to those points of the house. Like, for example, each creator that was hand selected to be. There was a lot of pressure on myself because I also want to make sure that we're creating the right vibe and energy for the house. And I. I did a thing where, like, I invited some people from last year and then I brought some new faces in, but they're still kind of associated with us through, like the podcast or just, you know, friends and stuff. But I don't know how everybody's really going to truly mesh. And I get. My favorite thing is just like, being able to, like, have a moment where I was just looking at everybody just vibing, vibing. And I was like, we did it.

Or like, connecting.

This is because even all that planning that you do with all the detail stuff, you. If the vibe isn't there with you, it doesn't matter. And that's what I. I learned. So it's like you can get so caught up in that. But like, the people in the house, that energy, that's the thing that really drives it. That's. That's the heart of it all.

And that's the heart of it all.

Even though I've known some of these people, some of these people I've never met, like to leave knowing that I got connected even more with people that I kind of knew already.

Like I said, having the luxury of getting invited by a brand is a big fucking deal. Yeah, I've been doing. Like I said, I've been doing this for a long time. I've never been invited by a brand. So I think that alone, and if anybody gets invited, like, that is really cool. Okay. There was another house at Coachella, Adriana's Insurance, that was hosting creators as well, and people were comparing them to the Taste Saluth House, which, I'm going to be honest with you, I thought that was very weird. I remember I saw the first video, or they were, like, doing it, and I was like, that's like. I didn't even think. I didn't even.

I don't know. I was just like, what's the point of that video?

I was just kind of like, okay, whatever. I was just like, there's no way this is becoming a thing. Right? Like, people comparing houses. And then it became a thing. It was all over my algorithm, and it just bothered me because I don't even think it was about the brands. I would think. I think it was mainly about. It was a Latino household, and both of these houses were like. Like, Latino influencers. So people just wanted to pin us together when that should never be a thing. You know what I mean? So, one, you got invited by a luxury brand. Two, we are Latinos together. If anything, we should be, like, united through this experience of, like, just being. I don't know, just being proud that there's actually Latino creators being invited by brands. And we're out here representing. Because, dude, you think about Coachella. Coachella is mainly an American white kind of event. You know what I mean? And now that we have Latinos there and doing it big and being invited by brands and, you know, representing, that to me, is special. That, to me is, like, cool. Like, we're doing, and that should be the focus. But that don't draw views.

And that'll get people excited.

And it was a two bedroom, one bathroom. So we're a family of six. So six of us had to live in a bedroom and then we had to share a bathroom.

So growing up like that, we just got along and learned how to work together.

And if we did, they would get nasty.

So what's like the origin story of. I love Micheladas? Like where. What was like the beginning? What's the start of this?

So the, the. The product we have the Michelada mix. I love me actually begin. Cuz at the restaurant we've been selling enchiladas for years and years. You know, we.

And then this guy. Yeah, that's how. Dude. When you guys start following us. That was crazy. Crazy moment.

Can I just say something real quick? Sorry. Before you do this amazing story. I met them. When was it? 10 years.

10 years ago, I think. 10 years ago.

No. So when me and Karen first moved to downtown la, I think it was the old maybe.

I remember when I first moved to la. I didn't know who nobody was. I didn't know who Fernando was. I remember we were keeping in touch and me and Karen went to Galagaza. Right. And that's. And I Love that restaurant because I love the way it looked from the outside. It was like the old member or the brand Obey. Yeah. You know, Remember they had those, like, stencil paintings? Well, they have something very similar, and it was beautiful. I said, what is that? So I go in. So I go to the restaurant. Sick vibes.

Oh, Sebastian, a lover of the arts. I like this about you.

[Karen]

Yeah? Yeah. Oh, for sure. That's what. That's what intrigued me and the food. But so I, me, I take my. My wife on a date and we get there and we have the most amazing time. And what does that always like to get? A Michelada. Right. And I'm picky when it comes to Micheladas because my family's from Jalisco and there's a certain way that we do the Micheladas. And I ordered a Michelada and I go to the bar and I say, hey, let me get a Michelada. And I taste it and it's phenomenal.

[Brisan Fernando]

It's a real Michelada.

[Karen]

It's a real Michelada. And I asked the guy, what is in here, because I wanted to know if it was the same ingredients from. From my family from back home. He couldn't really tell me, but he said he's. He's. That. That they would sell it.

Yeah.

[Karen]

So I bought one. And ever since that, I think I tagged you guys or I hit up Galaghetza or whatever. And bro, me and you started becoming cool. Remember? You.

You pull up to your party.

That's right. But that's actually how the company started with someone like you. Right. Someone came to the bar. They loved it. They were like, I love this. Can I get it? And we're like, all right, we'll just empty tequila bottles. We'll fill it up with the mix. They were like, how much? We did math. It was like 25, $30.

Oh, you guys started just selling the mix.

[Brisan Fernando]

Just selling the mix. Because that's what we were doing. And this guy bought like four bottles. So, like, literally that day. Rich dude. No, that day we're sitting down trying to think of. Because, you know, like, we took over the restaurant suck.

[Josh Leva]

But on profit wise, you're saying, right? Or just like the whole business model,

[Fernando]

I mean, the business model of the restaurant, you're. Especially in today's age, you're very lucky if you even hit like 5, 7% in a restaurant.

[Karen]

It's just brutal what happened at the time.

[Brisan Fernando]

It was right after we took over the restaurant. My parents retired. They moved away. But they moved away right after, like the worst recession ever.

[Josh Leva]

So when we took 2008.

[Brisan Fernando]

Yeah. Around that time.

[Karen]

Yeah.

[Brisan Fernando]

They left to Mexico. We took over. There were days where we had zero customers. Right. We're just like cleaning glasses.

[Fernando]

Yeah. My parents had to actually declare bankruptcy. It was so bad. We lost so much.

[Brisan Fernando]

Little by little, we build it up that restaurant. And we got to, we got to the place where like, it was getting packed again, right. So we were literally sitting down, being like, okay, we can only fit so many people in here. What's the next move? So we're like, are we going to sell like, Molly online? Do it. We open up online. We open a Shopify store early. Shopify, like before people knew what it was. We were like, skeptical, right? And now it's legit. But then around the same time, this guy walked in. That's. That happened. We're like, oh, what about the Micheladas? We can like turn this into a thing and do is what, Whatever. So we, we started bottling up. It took us forever, like, figure out the label and all this because we, when we do things, we do things backwards. We realized, yeah, like, we always like, like to make it ourselves and do everything right. So then at the same time, I was driving through Koreatown and I saw a VW on the street. And I pulled over and I talked to the guy on the porch. I was like, hey, mevendes to Tucaru. It was some old guy who's like, no, you know, it's been my family forever. But I was like, all right, I'll be right back. I went to the restaurant, I got $6,000 in cash, but I put 2,000 here. I put 2,000 here and 2,000 in the back pocket, right? So I go back, I'm like, hey, I'll give you cash right now. He was like, what do you got? I was like, listen, I got 2,000 right here. He was like, no, familia, whatever, whatever. I was like, listen, all I got is 2,000 more.

After that, I'm done, bro.

After that, I have no more he

was like, all right. I was like, all right, for sure.

Wow. Went home with two extra in my back pocket.

So he made 2,000. And

Drove back to the restaurant, little by little, restored it into what it is. Yeah. But we restored the food. Fully. Fully restoration.

And then we started posting that online, and that's when you guys were like, yo, you guys got to bring it to this pop.

That became the Me movie. And then we started building content around it. We started bottling now we were. And then we started being in Northgate. And as life happens, you're trying to figure out, how do you get. Listen, you do the same every month. How do we get people to buy more Sundance, Right? So we're like, how do we get people to buy more Michelada bottles? How do we get people to get more mixes? How do we get this piece product to move? And we had entered Costco at that moment, and we were trying to figure out, like, how do we get it to move? And we were trying to figure out, what do we do? What do we do best is gather people together and throw sick as parties. We've been producing events. My father produced an event for 10, 20,000 people, like, 20 years ago, 25, 30 years ago in Los Angeles. And he just. And we just watched him do it,

like, at the sports arena.

My dad went to the sports Arena, I think, 25 years ago and ended

It was the biggest, biggest day sales they've ever had.

We were like breaking records, right? And we're like. We were still like, doubting, like, is it us? Is it the brewery? We'll see. We moved to LA Grape Brewery. We did a band that night. That's the first night that the tamboraso came and it just changed everything completely.

And then for there, we're like, we have to do Panda night again. And then let's do it again. Then we went bigger. Then we went to a brewery in Long Beach.

San Pedro. San Pedro. I won't even go into details on that one. We had to leave and took and take production our own. And I think that was like the biggest blessing when we had to leave that brewery because of bad.

The other day I ran into these texts. Text that I was going through. And I was reading the text back and I was like,

And I remember when we moved over, you know, because we were. We were packing this brewery. We're every brewery. We were just packing crazy. And we went. The first month it was like light. And we're like, ah. Like, is this the right move?

The first month that we took on production, we moved from a huge brewery space in San Pedro to back to Los Angeles. And it was Just us. We didn't have the. A brewery to fall back on. We didn't have there.

But even then, like, the first month was like that, and within three months, we had the fire marshal shutting us down because it was too packed.

And then we had to find a different venue.

I mean, it's like imagine. Imagine you're drunk, you're dancing all night, you're sweating and all a sudden you look up and there's a light drizzle. Cuz it started life. It started light and it just felt like. Like those concert shots where people are like on top of each other like that. That's what it felt like.

That's what they wanted in it.

And you're like. And then, and then things started breaking and we had to go and.

We were doing it until midnight and then we moved to the Beehive with the new venue that where we did a takeover.

But even then, right, because it's a great location now that it's successful. But the first time you do it, it's like, well, we know a new area, it's unknown. And again, same thing because we were packing that place with like 2400 people.

Now we're jumping up to the capacity is 4,000 the first times we're doing it. So it's like, ah, we gotta double it because even if we get all the people, it'll still look light.

I love to hear where they're buying their clothes. I love to hear where they're watching, what they're. I just love. Because these are people. This is. This is who we are. This is. And I tell people, no, you gotta start hard and end hard. We gotta go bangers all night. There is no beginning because people are coming in all day, Right. We don't believe in the concept of that. You have as a DJ there. I'm like, they have this flow, gradual build. Now it doesn't exist because people are experiencing every moment live from the moment they walk in.

Yeah, you got to hit them hard from the very beginning. Now there's logistical issues around there that I've learned, right? Where it's like, well, I don't want to, like, play this song because that DJ is going to play it.

I love that. I love that. I know you spoke about like the, the, the memorable moment of the rain that, that you know, that you always remember. That was so beautiful. Is there another memorable moment that stands out at one of the events that you guys have thrown?

You mean another moment outside of that?

My goodness. Honestly, I would think, think like when we announced two nights for the first time when we.

Oh, that was when we finished.

It was two months ago. Like the feeling of when it was done of like we just did. We just sold out two nights.

And it was successful and nothing happened. And it was just like this moment

of like some things happened.

I mean so many things happened, but we figured it out. But it was just, ah. I think it's just that feeling. Just the feeling of. I mean there's. Yes, but I mean as far as the moments, so many moments. I mean Cheeky's on stage. I think I started to cry. I legit cried because I cry because she has a beautiful voice and because it's her.

But the moments.

But I think I cried for everyone because I think four different people came up to me and said, why would I cry now? He's like, this is the closest I'll ever be to her mom. I'm like, like

Yeah, exactly. That's. It's so crazy. And you know what, you're right because you know, even her sitting here like what, a week ago? Oh yeah, you. You do feel that from her. And not only just her, like her, her sister as well. And you know, there's this, there's this aura that they have, you know, and it's very special. And if I felt it, I can't even imagine like other people feeling on.

She hadn't seen Banda in a very long time. I think two years. So when she went up there, she just bare her soul and she sang so beautiful. I mean she was really going and everybody was in awe. And it was just so beautiful to see so many little girls dreams come true because there were so many women there who hadn't seen her, who could only dream of being with her. And there were these girls also. They were taking their picture on the photo booth and then they turned around, they saw her and then she got on their picture.

Oh my God.

Oh my God. I mean they like they were going crazy because I mean I felt like if she. And like if this is. If you're the queen bee, this is your beehive. I mean everyone here loves you so it was just so beautiful to be able to see so many fans light up.

Yes. So that I think to me that that moment was so powerful to me and so special to me.
