What an eventful last couple of week’s it’s been, La Plática fam. For starters, we just want to give a huge shoutout to the Latino communities all over the U.S. for coming together and showing up for each other to defend undocumented folks and everyone being targeted by the ICE raids. While our hearts are heavy as we navigate these difficult times, we are motivated and inspired by how we continue to show up for one another and feel empowered to continue to push forward and create change. You all inspire us every day, we love and appreciate you and we remind you that we are all in this together. 🫂

Benaki

It's Monday today, the start of a beautiful week. I hope you're smiling today. Lisa, if you're doing your makeup, I know you're watching out there. I hope you're contouring. I hope you're. That wing eyeliner is winging. And Becky, if you're on the Stairmaster right now, keep growing, mama. Summer's around the corner, but you're looking fine already. You're already there, baby. You already there. Everybody else, I hope you guys are having an incredible day. If you're driving to work, stay safe. We. We just came off a live show. If you guys just watched us on the live show, thank you so much for coming. First of all, yeah, that was an incredible experience. That was our first live show we've ever done. And I'll be honest with you guys, this is pre recorded. Our live show, technically in real time is tomorrow. But if you guys went and you guys are watching this, we want to say thank you from the bottom of Our hearts for coming out, for supporting us. Hopefully you guys had an incredible time. We have. We have a. We have another La Platica episode for you guys. You know, we don't miss every single Monday. 199, 200. Around the corner.
Josh
Around the corner.
Jess
That's wild.
Josh
That's wild.
Jess
That's wild.
Josh
I love how we're, like, speaking about, like, thanks for coming on. It was an amazing time.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
It hasn't even happened yet.
Jess
Hasn't even happened.
Josh
But it's Monday now.
Jess
It's Monday.
Josh
Dr. Str.
Jess
Dr. Str.
Josh
We don't know how the show's going to go. We know it's going to go good. But regardless, we're thanking you because no.
Jess
Matter what, you showed up.
Josh
You showed up. Everybody went, I'm assuming, and we had an amazing time with you guys. If I can be a hundred percent real and Josh and Jess can back this up, you know that I was always very iffy about doing a show big time. Right.
Jess
And it really was. I'm gonna say it was really me and raw in our team that was really pushing forward.
Josh
Yeah. I didn't feel like, what can we do live that, you know, that can be so wild?
Jess
Oh, seven. You think so small.
Josh
I. I think so small, you know, because I would see other.
Jess
What are you going camera for?
Josh
I would see other podcasts, you know, do live shows, and I'm like, well, what, you know, I don't know. I don't want to make people spend money.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
For something they already see for free. Because I'm, you know, I don't like doing that.
Jess
Okay.
Josh
But doing the show, the live show, it wasn't about that. It was more about us being here and meeting you guys and having the chance to see you guys face to face. It brings me so much joy for you to see others around you who share similar mornings or afternoons on those Mondays that are just like you. And to me, that's a beautiful thing, a beautiful community that we have here on La Platica, and it's super special. And if I can be real, I think I'd do it again. And we had a great show. I don't want to say too much or the things that that went on during the show, but it was an amazing time.
Jess
Yeah, yeah, yeah. We obviously had to start in LA with the show. Well, technically Bray as OC in Southern California, but the goal is to eventually take it to other places. I know a lot of you guys have been commenting like, yo, come to Chicago, come to Texas, come to Miami, we want to do all of that. We wanted to get our feet wet, and I think we're soaking wet at this point.
Josh
Hopefully a little moist.
Jess
A little moist, yeah. Guys, before we get into this episode, this show is sponsored by seatgeek, our good friends over at Sea Geek, I should say, because you know, you know how we feel about Sea Geek. Number one rated ticketing app on the app Store. This episode is powered by sasson. Not just this episode, but this entire podcast. We got merch available. If you're trying to cop some of that merch. I'm actually wearing some of that live tour merch right now. That looking good. The back. Looking crispy. Show the back. Show them the back.
Josh
Show them the back.
Jess
Let's see. Can they see the back?
Josh
They can see the back. My boy. God, we look good. What a picture, man.
Jess
Look at that.
Josh
What a picture. One day you're going to show that picture to your son, your daughter. God damn.
Jess
That's a back right there.
Josh
Yeah, yeah. So it's a beautiful shirt. We did sell those shirts at the show. At the show. So for everybody who bought. Thank you so much.
Jess
We're rolling slightly solo today. There's one missing from the pack. The boy, Benaki.
Josh
Benaki.
Jess
Yeah, but don't trip, guys. Camera four, we're still cracking over there. A camera four. Camera four lit. Hey, hey, hey. Get it.
Josh
I think Jess has perfect attendance, huh?
Jess
Have you met? I feel like you really have. You probably have missed, like two episodes.
Benaki
Yeah, maybe.
Josh
Yeah, think so. But that was our fault, though. Not because she didn't want to come, probably. We, like, rescheduled. She couldn't do it or something. Other than that, perfect attendance. Congratulations, J.
Jess
Episode 199 was such a trip to me, bro. At 200, it was something I was really looking forward to. I just. I just. I'm a. I'm a person that. I appreciate big milestones. You know what I mean? Cuz I'm like, man, this is something we've been building towards and it's here. Like we were about to cross that line and then it's just like to reset. Now we're going to 300, you know, and I just really want to see how many hundreds we can get. Hopefully it's a lot of them.
Josh
Yeah. And, you know, we always say this, but thank you, everybody back at home for supporting Josh, myself, even Jess and Benaki and, you know, keeping the show alive. We're super honored, super blessed. Thanks for rocking with us and, yeah, let's get this show on the road this week has been super, super hard on, on, on not just us, but everybody, not just in Los Angeles, but in the United States. With the whole immigration issues that are going on. It's just, it's just, it causes so much anger in me, you know what I mean? Of, of what's going on and how it's, it's not even about what's going on. It's how it's, how it's going on.
Jess
How it's being handled, how it's being.
Josh
Handled by, by the dude with the ugly ass spray tan. And it's just, it really annoys me. At the end of the day, it's like, bro, you're sending these, these, these people and, and we're talking about somebody who's very active on social media, a president who's very active on social media. Right? It's, it's super cringy. He sees four year olds being. And this is just straight up, just right off the jump and we can talk about so many situations that are going on. And, and I said Karen, but yeah, even Karen. Karen, myself, Josh, everybody, you know, we try to repost as much as we can. We try to repost really like things that are facts as well. Because a lot of things that sometimes we see on social media, it can be kind of like, is this even true? You know what I mean?
Jess
A lot of misinformation.
Josh
A lot of misinformation. And that's not what we want to do either, you know, so it's really even hard for us to even like, you know, pick, pick things to share, you know, but we're trying to do the best we can. We also posted something on, on social media about like, if you go on La Platica's static feed post, you can see that, you know, we're telling you guys to DM us if you guys know a family in need. Because obviously right now a lot of people in Los Angeles, we're this country. The, the heartbeat is, is immigrants. Yeah, we are Los Angeles.
Jess
People are scared and rightly so.
Josh
And, and by the way, this is not just like Mexicans, this is Mexican Salvadorians, this is Ecuadorians, this is Guatemalans, and even people that people don't even realize, but like, I have a friend who's Israeli and he doesn't even have papers and he's tripping. People don't understand that. Yeah, it's a lot of people, man, it's a sad situation. It's the way it's being handled is ridiculous.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
If homeboy Sorry. He's not my homeboy. If that. Man, I'm sorry about that as well. He ain't a man. If that individual is so active on social media and he sees 4 year olds getting torn apart to their family and he think that's, and he thinks that's okay. I mean, there's your answer, right? It's insane. Yeah, it's insane that like.
Jess
Yeah, man. It gets to a point where it's, it's, it's, it's beyond politics.
Josh
It is.
Jess
And I feel like we've crossed that line. And the divide that this is causing for America, the fear that this is causing, the way that he is coming across as a president is, is honestly humiliating and it's just really scary, man. And I, I think to your point, we want to be able to help. We want to be provide, provide resources. We have offered to help any families in need during these times that cannot step outside out of fear. We want to be able to help in any way that we can. We constantly are linking different, different ways and different ways that we can help. In the description of our videos.
Josh
We've been doing that since the beginning of the year.
Jess
Different resources. That's the word I was looking for. So please obviously reach out to us. If you guys are a family in need or know a family in need. If you guys are looking for resources, we have them linked below. We understand that these times are, are very, are scary and there's a lot of uncertainty. And I think this is important for us as a, as a, as a community to really just stand together, stand strong and just keep fighting for what we believe in, for what is right. And we will persevere.
Josh
We will.
Jess
You know, and this is a time, this is the time where we all really got to be Unidos, bro. You know, like, this is a time where we gotta link arms, not, not create dividends. The president himself is already doing that for us. So let's not lean into that anymore.
Josh
That's a scary thing too, is like at the end of the day, like politics aside, what this is really doing is causing fear. It's being mishandled in the most outrageous way and it's dividing our actual own people as well.
Jess
That's what makes me.
Josh
And that's what's. And that's the sad thing. And you don't think that piece of shit knows that? That's what he's doing. That's what he wants us to do.
Jess
Yeah, that's.
Josh
That, that's his whole plan is to divide even our Own people together, you know what I mean? So with the peaceful protesting and I know that that's, that's 90, 95 of protesting. It's called peaceful.
Jess
Yeah. Remember, I totally agree with that. There's a lot of fear mongering.
Josh
Remember, I don't think it's okay to throw rocks at cop cars. I don't, the people that are loot, that the, our loot or, or, or break the streets down with concrete to grab rocks. What I was seeing to, you know, I, I think that's completely wrong. I, I don't think we should do that. But then on the, on the back of my head I'm like, okay, I know that's not the, the, the, the, the, the, the what's it called? Like, I know that that's not like the pop, the popular, the popularity of the protest. I know that that's the majority. I'm sorry, I know that that's not what's going on. But then in the back of my head I'm like, I can't even blame these people for being that upset.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah. Yeah.
Josh
Their families are being divided. They're being torn apart.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
I can't imagine how upset they are.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
I, I, I, it's like I understand this, this is going on, but we have, we, and, and this is crazy too. And I don't even think that his plan will never work because the people that he's using for his plan are descendants of immigrants or immigrants themselves. The military descendants of immigrants.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
Or immigrants themselves. A majority of the military, they join the military so they can get papers. So they can give papers to their family. Correct. All those national guards, the Marines that are in Los Angeles, most of them have Latin origin last names, Hispanic last names.
Jess
Right.
Josh
So do the cops.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
And that's the sad thing too. It's like I know so many police officers.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
And it's, it's not what you see on social media either that the cops are dicks, mind you. Yes. There are some that are dicks. Yes. But a lot of them, they're not. It's like, it's like they're being torn apart as well with their, with their own families.
Jess
Right.
Josh
Because they got to do something. They have to. They have orders. And so do the military. And that's the sad thing too. A lot of those guys probably don't even want to be there.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
And they have to. And I get it. They have the choice, you know.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
But let's face it too. Imagine if you're like part of this Brotherhood. And you don't want to go because this and that. And I get. You have to stand up for what's right. Right. But it's just at the end of the day, it divides everybody and that's a sad thing. It's being completely mishandled. At the end of the day, if you want an answer of this is the right guy for you. It's a guy that sees that four year olds are being dragged from their families and, and taken to detention centers. And he's okay with seeing that.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
How is that even possible? It's a complete. It's so sad, bro. And like, for us having, like still having to come, like, even yesterday we came and like, I don't. We didn't even film. Why? Because it's like, it's kind of like we don't feel right to film.
Unnamed Guest
Right.
Josh
We don't even, like, even like we have a, we have a live show tomorrow.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
It doesn't sit right with me either. You know what I mean? Like, it's a hard thing and it's a hard thing for so many more Americans out there.
Jess
Yeah, for sure, man. I will say, I. We are, we're blessed to, to be in a privileged place and a lot of people don't have that privilege and our hearts are, are heavy for those people and we just really want to offer our platform in any way that we can. And, and sometimes I feel like there's a big obligation for us to like, speak on this correctly and, and trust me, our hearts are like, we're trying to do our best here. So I know something we can do is, is provide a platform to create resources and potentially like fund some families that are in need, you know, and that's something that we can guarantee.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
So I, I just, I just want to say, like, for people out there, like, stay educated, stay safe and. Yeah. Like, don't be afraid to reach out for help if it's not us, obviously for anybody else who, who can help.
Josh
Yeah, yeah. It's, it's, it's a tough thing and it's, it's. You know, there's so many people with different types of opinions.
Jess
Yes.
Josh
You always want to say the right thing.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
You don't want to ruffle any feathers.
Jess
Well, that though. You know what I'm saying? Like, at the end of the day, how I feel is how I feel. How you feel is how you feeling? That. That's not my problem. That's your problem.
Josh
What I'm saying is like, oh, 100. Yeah. I. 100 agree with you. How I feel is how I feel. I've people that come up to me, I'm like, hey, your beliefs are your beliefs, dog. Like, that's it. I'm not trying to beef it with you or anything like that. You do you right. How I feel is how I feel. But I also don't want to misguide people either.
Jess
That is my, that was my main point. Yeah.
Josh
Because look, I'll be 100. I didn't go to school to study politics. I did not do that.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
Didn't even go to school.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Jess
Very obvious.
Josh
Like, you know, so for somebody like myself to educate my own self, it's. It's something that I've been dealing with for, For a while now. And it's something that I want to do more now because I, I want.
Jess
Because that can't be an excuse. Right. I can't be writing to school. I don't, I don't know about this. Well, then it's important for you to get educated. It's important for you to figure out the facts.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
Right. And that's what that was another thing I was going to say. I challenge people to really, like, get at, learn. Learn about what's going on and don't just speak out of, like, frustration or just based on what you see somebody else post, you know, like just, you know, fact check and making sure that, like, you're, you're getting the right resources and everything. But at the end of the day, bro, this family was built off immigrants. You and I come from an immigrant family, and we are proud of that.
Josh
Super.
Jess
And these are moments that are, like, I keep saying, like, are very scary and uncertain, but this is, this is where we lock in as people, you know, 100, man.
Josh
I mean, if people don't know who we are, I mean, that's who we are.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
Everything that we've ever done for, for this, for, for anything, it's. We want to, we want to bring our culture. We want to make it alive. We want you to see our culture, not just Mexicans. We want you to know that Latinos are amazing. That's always been our.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
That's the only reason why I sit down here, to let you know how cool we are, everybody.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
Since I was 14, 15 years old, literally until I started doing this podcast, I've only worked with immigrants. Only. They've taught me how to talk. They taught me slang, they taught me how to act, they taught me how to be myself. They, they. Not just my mom and my dad, these people have taught me how to have values. They taught me how to work hard.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
We are the hardest working people out there. 100%. We are. And we. And we. And not just hard working. We bring way more to the table than just hard work, bro.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
So much to the table. So it just. It really infuriates me with what's going on. It's sad. Yeah, it's completely sad. And like I said, at the end of the day, there's a right rate, there's a right way to do things, and there's a wrong way to do things, and it's not being handled correctly whatsoever. And if people don't see that.
Jess
Them. Yeah. Straight up.
Josh
Honestly, there's a lot. There's. There's even like, you know, me personally seeing some people that maybe I used to, like, know or something like that, and they don't really like, feel threatened or they feel some certain type of way like this. Them. Them, bro. Like, you know, God bless you.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
And I hope this. You. You. You can maybe change or find. Find your heart, but by me, y know.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
You know what I mean?
Jess
And the sad thing is, bro, this isn't going to go away tomorrow.
Josh
No.
Jess
Or next month or next year. This is going to be a reoccurring thing for a while. For a while. So we've talked about this before a few months back, and this is something that we're going to continue to revisit as the podcast continues. And I think it's very important for us to do so. You know, and this isn't like we talk about it and then I say we move on because it doesn't work like that in real life. Like, this is reoccurring. And even though the world moves on, because the truth is, it's a sad truth, people move on. Like, we got to continue to bring it up to. To the light.
Josh
You know, there's people that are scared to go outside right now, terrified. And. And I don't blame them. And we are in such a position where we can just roam freely. And this and this. And this has been happening for a while. This isn't just like this past couple weeks. There's people like this that live their lives like this.
Jess
Correct.
Josh
Right. And I was thinking last night, I'm like, man, we need to do something where it's like a continuous thing where either we set up like a. Like a. Like a. Like every month we just donate to a family that's in need. I don't know the logistics of how we're Going to do it. We. We have to do it smart, and we have to do it, like, legit, but always helping out families that are in need for that week, that month that we can just help out, because that's what a lot of people though, like, they'll say, speak. Speak up, Speak up. And we try our best. Right. At the end of the day, the most we can do, I feel, is our voices spread out awareness. Yes. But also we do have the platform to. To help other people out, whether that be financially, whether that be emotionally providing resources. Providing resources. Yes. There was young lady that we always have their resources on our link. And, you know, she thanked us because it does help out a lot. And I'm like, of course, you know, provide more resources, you know, because it also changes their life, too, and their fundraising. So, you know, we definitely. This won't. This won't stop. And I don't think it'll ever stop. It's never stopped. We as people that run this podcast. Just us. I'm just talking about us. We definitely have to do something like.
Jess
That 100% where we.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
Even partner up with, like, a charity.
Josh
We help out monthly.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
And that. We don't have to post it. Hey, guys, Today we helped out. No, it's. It's a natural thing. We don't got to post it. We don't got to do anything. We helping out families monthly. So, like I said in. In our feed post, we're telling people to DM us, see if anybody needs help, whether that be with groceries, gas, stuff for school. I know school's out right now, but just anything like that.
Jess
Anyway, in any way that we can. Our DMS are open. We have our incredible producer who's helping us out with this, and they're gonna be seen. So please do not hesitate to reach out. That's why we're here for. We love you guys. We're here for you guys. And we're here. Yeah, man. This is.
Josh
Yeah. And it'll be a continuing thing that we're gonna try to help out as much as we can.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
But. Yeah. So sucks, bro. Like, honestly, it doesn't. It doesn't. I don't even feel like. Like talking about anything else. Like. Like, what can we do? You know what I mean?
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
I hate. I hate when people say that immigrants don't pay taxes and they don't do anything to society. Me, somebody who's been working with immigrants since I was 15, 16 years old. Do you. I don't think people realize that immigrants collect checks Those checks get deducted by state and federal income tax. They do pay taxes, but even on.
Jess
A day to day basis, bro, like if they're shopping, buying groceries for their family, all that stuff, they're being taxed.
Josh
Yes.
Jess
Therefore they're paying taxes.
Josh
I just can't stand when people say that they're not paying taxes. Some of these immigrants, and no shade to people who are going to disagree with me, they pay more taxes than you. They do. And you know what sucks? They don't. They don't even get half the benefits we do or if, if none because they're undocumented. So I just hate how I was like. And then there was another story on social media where it's like, why is this like the number one thing that this guy wants to enforce is immigration? There's so much more, bigger problems out there than this.
Jess
And spending our money on this, ripping apart families.
Josh
There is so much problems out in the world.
Jess
Yeah. Way bigger issues.
Josh
It's like, it's like, it's like making the biggest issue in the world. It's like, we can cut this out too if it doesn't make any sense. But it's almost like we're the, we're the, we're the plastic straws of society trying to make a change for plastic straws when plastic straws aren't even like the most like, like, like biggest concern in the world. And you know how like we're spending.
Jess
All our money and resources, spending on.
Josh
Resources on how to figure out how to fucking make the turtles save the turtles.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
And it doesn't make sense. There's so much more things going on in the world than just split this thing. You know what I mean? No, I don't know if that made sense.
Jess
It does.
Josh
I, I guess we're focusing on something that's like so minute.
Jess
Yeah. Yeah.
Josh
It just sucks, man. I hate, I hate when people talk about immigrants.
Jess
Oh, for sure, bro.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Jess
Jess, I don't know if you want to add something. I know, like, you obviously have a voice on this like, podcast as well, if you want, like, came for.
Benaki
It's just really disappointing to see what the government continues to see our community as. We're some of the most hardworking people. And I'm an immigrant myself. I'm one of the lucky ones in that I did it the right way or whatever. But not everybody has that opportunity. We don't know people's circumstances, we don't know what environment they're trying to leave. You know, they feel the need to leave because most of the time, like, I feel like people don't leave their entire lives, their entire families, their entire everything behind for no reason. And for that to be criminalized for it to be criminalized that they didn't necessarily, like, have the financial ability to cover those expenses because it's expensive, it's time consuming. Like, these things take time. And, and some people don't have time and they don't have the money to. And they just want better for themselves, want better for their future families, for their current families. And like SAA said, like, these are people who just want to work hard and want to make a living, and.
Josh
That'S all they literally want to do.
Benaki
And because of their undocumented status, like, they, they can't apply for scholarships. You know what I mean? They can't receive benefits from the government because they don't have the paperwork for it. And yet the rhetoric around it is that these illegal immigrants are capitalizing on these opportunities when it's just like that's. They don't. You know what I mean? Like, they don't. And they just, they're hardworking people. And it's so interesting to see also how the discourse is so different from, you know, the January 6th attack on the Capitol.
Jess
Right.
Benaki
And how that was like, oh, these are good people, but.
Jess
Right.
Josh
Where's the National Guard there?
Jess
Exactly. And exactly.
Benaki
And yet for our people who just want to belong in society, who just want to work hard and provide for their families, like, that's, that's the problem here. That's what you're, that's it. Tearing apart.
Josh
That's what I'm saying. It's like, it's like not a problem. Things can get worked out. It's been like that for decades and decades and decades.
Jess
The reason why we're in this room is because of those immigrants who sacrifice.
Josh
Who sacrifice. And unfortunately, there's some countries, not just Mexico, all over the world that they, they, they, they, they come to the United States for a better opportunity because of the dollar. And you know what's funny is that like, these people legit risk their whole lives. They leave their whole family on the other side of the world to come here to work a minimum wage job with a smile on their face.
Jess
Yeah.
Josh
Every single day, nine to five. I'm sorry, nine to five. Those are regular teenage high school jobs. 4am to about 4pm and that's going through traffic and maybe seeing their family back around 6:00pm yeah. And they redo that every single day for the rest of their lives. To provide for their wife, their kids, if they have any. And if they don't have any of that, guess where they're sending that money? Back to where they're from.
Jess
Yeah. Back to Mexico.
Josh
That is literally the majority of immigrants, and that's how they live their. Their. Their life. Is it sad? Yes. Is it a problem? I don't think so.
Jess
I wouldn't think so either.
Josh
They don't even make people like that anymore.
Unnamed Guest
I know.
Josh
Like, I'm sorry, but the whole United States, and especially here in Los Angeles, it is created and it is. We are the heartbeat of Los Angeles and Southern California. It just sucks, man. It sucks. And it frustrates me that. That it's like these people. Oh, there's some criminals and there's this and there's that. Yeah, that's everybody.
Jess
What sucks to me and crazy to me is just, to Jess's point, like, they don't make it make sense, right? Like when they. When they took over, like, the Capitol and they didn't send in the National Guards, and they just kind of treated as like, oh, you know, it's just Americans, you know, using their. Their. Their whatever. Their. What is it? Their freedom of rights.
Benaki
Free speech.
Jess
Free speech.
Josh
Which is what we're doing, too, right?
Jess
It's what we're doing, too. So make it make sense.
Josh
It doesn't. And that's the thing. It just. It. He doesn't make sense.
Jess
We're not attacking the Capitol. He's making it so obvious that we were being targeted. It is so obvious.
Josh
And then what he wants us to do is. Is go ape, set things on fire, right? Which people are just.
Jess
These are the people that you want to protect. These are the people that you're trying to defend.
Josh
Look at Los Angeles and how it's, like, under fire, blah, blah, blah. It's a horrible place to live. It's not like that. You cannot believe what he says. You cannot believe everything that's portrayed on the media, especially on some channels on tv. Yeah, that's what I was saying. It's all a game. All we can do is be peaceful, be smart, be educated, and unite.
Jess
And at the end of the day, bro, we need to lead with love.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
That's the most important thing, right? Because if we don't have love, bro, this is all going to fall apart. We need to love each other. We need to hold each other down, and we need to constantly support each other and uplift each other. Love is the ultimate. And I don't mean to sound like some sort of like heavy, but like.
Josh
No, but that's what works.
Jess
That's what works, man.
Josh
God will save us, bro.
Jess
Exactly.
Josh
100. I also feel like a big problem with happen. With what's happening and how people react to what's happening in a negative way is because they're not educated on. On how people actually live and. And their circumstances. There's a lot of people that grow up and they never know people's circumstance. Circumstances. They don't know the immigrant circumstances.
Jess
Of course they're disconnected.
Josh
And they're so disconnected. And it's kind of scary how for me, you people back at home, we know this shit because we all grow up on this shit. It builds our character. There's so much people in the world they're oblivious to. To. To the sacrifices that people have done for me and you to be here. Yeah, bro. Straight up.
Jess
100.
Josh
If my mother didn't decide. If my mother decided to live in Mexico, who knows where the I would be, right? All. And. And even her aunts and her like, bro, this is like hundreds of years, bro.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
It's absolutely insane.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
And I can't stand when people be talking when they live on a street called Los Alamitos or live in a city called. I can't stand that.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Jess
Yeah, brother. I get you, bro.
Josh
But I get you. As angry as it. As it makes me feel, I also have to take a step back. Like, no, I am going to get angry. But also, like, I don't want it to, like. Because that's what he wants. He wants us to be angry. He wants us to. To. To. To. To wreak havoc and. And cause fear in our eyes.
Jess
So I think anger and frustration is acceptable.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
What he wants is to create separation. And that's where it's wrong.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
I think it's okay that we're angry. I think it's okay that we're upset and scared. You know, maybe not. Not. That's. I hate. I hate using the word scared because I feel like it has, like, such, like, they have, like, power over us, you know? But it is scary times.
Josh
It's good to feel all these emotions.
Jess
But I think these emotions are good. But the divide that it creates, because.
Josh
Having these emotions, it's. It's going to generate a personality, a motivation that we have now.
Unnamed Guest
Yeah.
Josh
Does that make any sense? But yeah, man. We are going to continue to have resources down below. Once again, DM la platica. Let us know somebody's story, please. I know there's. There's a lot of People out there that they, they might say like, oh, this person needs help. Really? Just. Really people that really need help right now?
Jess
Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
Josh
And we're, we're happy to help and yeah, that's.
Jess
And then we're going to continue to provide resources along the way. And you know, we also, we also want to be an escape for you guys, you know, like just like a moment where you guys can like disconnect from all, everything that's happening and just take a moment just to like take a breather and hopefully we can provide that sort of relief for you guys on La Platica, you know, so just, I just want you guys to know that if, you know, we next week we have a normal episode, that our, that our hearts are still hurting and that we're still trying to help out in any way that we possibly can. And we appreciate you guys being so supportive towards us. I know that in this times people want to attack one another and, and it's just. That's also very heartbreaking. But I hope we just don't forget the whole point of this. It is to. Is to be united and is to be strong and is to. And to be together through all of this. That is the point.
Josh
Well said.
Jess
Yeah. Yeah.
Josh
So, yeah, I think we'll just end, end it here.
Jess
Yeah, I don't even feel right doing a full episode with everything that's happening. No, within the. And then la. Yeah, it's scary, man. We love you guys. And just to reiterate, reiterate one more time, we're here to help reach out. Check out the links below.
Josh
But yeah, we'll see you guys next Monday. Once again, we thank you guys so much for being on the, on the live show. We hope you guys had a blast. I think we should do like a recap video as well soon.
Jess
Yeah, we'll do a recap video of the live show for sure. And more in depth. Cuz like I said, this is pre recorded. We haven't technically done the live show, but based on how we have rehearsed, which we haven't, I think it went pretty good.
Josh
I told Josh, I said I think as much as we want to rehearse, which we will, we will hopefully we have this magic of winging stuff that's.
Jess
That'S the best, bro.
Josh
Yeah.
Jess
But not only that camera for a trip right now. Yeah.
Josh
Have a blessed day.
Jess
Love you guys so much.
Josh
And we'll see you guys. La Proxima Platye.
Jess
There it is.
Josh
Ciao. And if people don't see that em.
Jess
Stay educated, Stay safe.
