Josh Leva
We good at the bullshitting. If you're on the Stairmaster right now, if you're taking your. Your kid to school, if you're making little sandwiches and you down the. The. The triangular angle for your kids and you're packing up lunches right now, shout out to you. Shout out to the single moms out there listening. Shout out to the single dads out there listening.
Sebastian
Honestly, shout out to the parents that be making their kids lunch for school. That's tight.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah, yeah. If you're on your way to work, make sure you drive safe. You know what I mean? Two hands on the wheel. Look both ways. Use your blinker see, Can I do my intro, dog?
Sebastian
Oh, you're not done yet.
Josh Leva
If you happen to want to do something this weekend, make sure to, you know, hit up our friends over at SeatGeek, number one ready ticketing app. On the app stow. A lot of things have been happening we want. First of all, I don't want to go too into it because we really did a deep dive last week, but shout out to everybody who signed up for the transformation challenge.
Sebastian
Yeah, yo, we got a lot here. Look here. Look, look, look, look, look.
Josh Leva
We really talked passionately about this challenge that we are, you know, doing with Andre and, and, and, and, and bringing to you guys. But the passion being reciprocated by you guys and the excitement. I cannot wait for this to start. Yeah, it starts May 11th. There's plenty of time to sign up still. Once May 11th hits, signups are closed, so you can't just sign up. And whenever it's like you guys have a limited amount of time. Actually just this Friday.
Sebastian
Yeah, just this Friday. You should be signing up. Yeah. So. Because by the following Monday, not this, but next, it's when we start the
Josh Leva
sick week, six weeks begins and the chats are set up and we're in there, we're communicating and it's a, it's a family. So it's. We're a wolf pack. All of us together on this six week journey, getting ready for summer. Getting ready for literally the first day of summer, which is dope. But Jess actually has some questions that she pulled up from the episode. She hasn't pull them up yet, but we're going to pull them up. Is that what we're going to do, Jess?
Jess
Yeah, I, I have them ready.
Josh Leva
Oh, perfect.
Sebastian
Yeah. I just wanted to say something real quick too. Just kind of like bounce off what you were saying, Josh Leva. That's missing something.
Josh Leva
Salute.
Sebastian
I feel in a, a huge amount of not pressure, but a responsibility now to make you guys realize how important this is and to help you guys out and especially because so many people have joined already and there are limited spots but like, I knew people were going to join because like, why wouldn't you? Cuz it's like we all should. Right? But a lot of people did and like, that just really goes to show like how many people that watch this show want to better themselves and are very dedicated and are ambitious to better themselves. And that's just like a big weight on our shoulders that we're just like, oh, we got to, you know, we're going to do our Part too on. On this side to make. Make this super kind of easy, but, like, super possible, everybody and enjoyable. So one thing that I'm really, like, excited about is, like, the little community chats that we're going to have. I believe there are going to be, like a girl community chat and then a guy community chat. I gotta speak with Audrey, but I'm pretty sure that's what it's going to be. But me and. Me and Josh will be jumping back and forth on both. And honestly, we'll be talking to you guys, giving advice, daily motivation, maybe some videos. You know, it's kind of like our own little. What's that app that, like, you charge people to, like Patreon? Yeah, it's like, almost like that, but, like, we don't gotta pay for that. It'll be like, it's just our little group chat. So we'll have a group chat going on. I'm so excited about it. We're gonna motivate each other. I'll be talking to you guys there. I don't know, things like showing you what I'm eating today, maybe showing you guys some recipes that I, you know, have came up with or have discovered on my own. That really helped me out with my fitness journey. You know, I'm just so excited because at the end of the day, and I was speaking about this with Andre this morning, is that what we're going to take out of this is not just, like, fun and. And yeah, we'll lose some weight. And by the way, the majority of people probably going to lose weight, but there are a big majority that you might need to gain weight. You might be. You know, maybe I feel like I'm too. Like, I want to gain muscle. You know what I mean? I want to gain size. That's also a possibility, and that could be a winner of a transformation as well. You know, it doesn't have to be like, oh, I got to lose weight. It can be like, yo, I'm here and I want to get to here. You know what I mean? It can be whatever.
Josh Leva
But I know that a transformation is a transformation.
Sebastian
Transformation. But what we're going to get out of this and what is most important is knowledge. The knowledge that I have received from being around Andre, being around Josh, and being around people that are super motivated. Like, you start to look at the world so differently. What you eat, the time you go to sleep, the times that work for you to work out, the way that you maneuver through your work life, through your family life, all of those little Things change. And entering this six week challenge, I can't wait till it's all done and set in stone like what kind of new person you are. And it's not just about, yeah, how we're gonna look and stuff like that. It's the mentality changes. You go through so many different things in your body and mind that you start to become super self motivated. Your willpower starts to become unstoppable. You start to become this superhuman where that you never thought that you probably could have been. And that's why I'm so excited for the community group chats because you need people that have already kind of been walking that line to be motivating you too and showing you that yo, it's gonna happen. Right? So I just wanted to say that I want to let you know that if you were somebody who paid the 160 for a six week challenge, which is. How much did you say a day? 27. A day?
Josh Leva
Something like that. A week.
Sebastian
A week. A week, sorry. A week. It's, it's not just the six weeks that, that you basically paid for. This is something that you're going to use and hopefully throughout your whole life now. It's something that we're all going to learn and process this almost the same way. Like, very motivating. And I just wanted to say that, you know what I mean, like, it's not just a six week challenge. It's. It's something that you're going to endure and you're just going to like, really, you're going to take a lot from this.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Our goal this episode is not to reiterate things we said last week. So sorry if we are. If you're new, you're finding out we're doing a challenge. We've been talking about fitness for the past three months and now that we have a, the pos, you know, the chance to set up a community with other people who are, are ready to embark on this journey. I can't wait to, to chat with you guys and just to see your guys lives change before your very eyes because it's really, I know it sounds dramatic, but that's really what is going to happen. So.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Anyways, let's get into today's episode before we got into today, before we started filming. So we'll set something that I kind of want to like touch on again because I, I thought this was interesting. So.
Guest
So euphoria is going on right now.
Josh Leva
Yes.
Guest
And I was telling Josh how when season one came out, I felt so I Just, I felt so inspired by Euphoria. And that was like my peak party stage. And I was going to parties. I felt like my whole movie, my whole life was a drama. I was driving to parties with soundtracks of Euphoria. I really felt like I was in the movie and I was just like. It was so many situationships, so much drama. I just, I. I felt so immersed in the movie. And I was wondering if there's any been. If there's ever been a movie or series that immersed you guys so much, where you felt part of it.
Josh Leva
Yeah, dude, there's so many times I, like, exit a movie theater or I finish watching a movie and, like, it kind of, like I steal. It kind of changes me a little bit, Changes my energy, changes my aura. Like, you just kind of like, you're a little, like, shifted. You know what I'm talking about?
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Like, for example, like, the. I just saw the Michael movie, the new Michael Jackson. Yeah.
Sebastian
And I'm mad that you didn't invite.
Josh Leva
It was incredible. Like, I have always been, like, a fan of Michael Jackson, like, growing up, his music. I was so, like. I just loved Michael, bro. And, dude, I left this theater and I was, like, inspired.
Sebastian
So you liked it? So you liked the movie?
Josh Leva
Are you listening to what I'm saying?
Sebastian
Yeah. But you liked it? You genuinely, like.
Josh Leva
No, I loved it, bro.
Sebastian
I'm only saying this because I saw so many reviews, like, on social media that a lot of people did not like it or.
Josh Leva
No, it's not even the people, bro. It's.
Sebastian
It's the Rotten Tomatoes people.
Josh Leva
It's critics. Because apparently. And I learned this because. Because I was very confused on why the critics were so harsh on.
Sebastian
They were very harsh.
Josh Leva
And apparently there was. There was more to the film that they had to completely remove and actually reshoot because they were gonna dive into a lot of the, I guess, trials and tribulations that Michael had faced. The critic, you know, all the stuff that, you know, went on in his life that was very public. Sure. But I guess once they started doing more research on what. What was. What happened with the courts and all that stuff, like, all the legal situations, they couldn't. They couldn't talk about specific things that they had shot.
Sebastian
Oh.
Josh Leva
So I think the critics wanted to see more of that. But this film was more about, like,
Sebastian
they were saying that. That the movie is just as highlight. Real. Yeah, but I mean. I mean, that's fine.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
That's what we are here for, to have Michael in our lives another. For another night. Right?
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And I think in part two, they're gonna release a part two. They're gonna find a way to like go into more of that part of his life, you know what I mean?
Sebastian
But you enjoyed it, dude, I, I
Josh Leva
literally could have stood up and danced throughout, like the music and like the energy of the theater. It's like nothing I've ever experienced, bro. Like that guy's aura, that guy's like legacy, like it carries like a tsunami.
Sebastian
And he did an amazing job portraying him, the actor.
Josh Leva
He's brilliant, bro. He's brilliant.
Sebastian
Okay.
Josh Leva
He's brilliant.
Sebastian
I'm excited.
Josh Leva
Yeah. There was moments where like, you'll turn a certain angle, you're like, that's Michael Jackson right there.
Sebastian
Wow.
Josh Leva
Yeah. And now there's also moments where like he's not spot on, like how he looks, but his performance is 10 out of 10. I don't know if anybody could have done a better job, if I'm being honest.
Sebastian
So it's worth going.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
For a second I thought I was like, damn. Should wait, Should I not go, Should I wait till it to be on Apple tv?
Josh Leva
No, no, go, go watch it.
Sebastian
Yeah, watch it.
Josh Leva
And if you can watch it in imax, I would suggest it cuz it's a. It's obviously he performs like 30 of his biggest hits. Like just being able to hear it and see it on a grander scale, it just hits better.
Sebastian
So sick. Yeah.
Josh Leva
But anyways, I left that theater and I was just like, man, I'm like moved. I'm inspired by, by him and like just how much he. His like passionate passion towards his craft, you know, his like dedication to being the best in the world. Yeah, like that I didn't realize how like kind of like, I don't. This ego that he had of like, I want to be the best in the world. You know what I mean? Like, he wasn't. He happened to be the best in the world, but he also really, really wanted that.
Sebastian
And they portray that in the movie.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Okay.
Sebastian
You can feel that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Wow. Yeah. For myself, I haven't seen Michael. I can't wait to see it. But for myself, I think a movie that has really. Interstellar, that's like the given one, right? Yeah, like Interstellar showed me to like really just look at the sky and understand that life is life, right? Just. It's very simple, but just so appreciate the where the we're at. Right?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
Great movie. I just met somebody who hasn't seen it and I, I invited them, but
Josh Leva
how did that movie shift you as a person?
Sebastian
It made me more relaxed. Made me realize that there's nothing to worry about in life because we're so little, we're so small, we're. We're nothing.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
But we are something. And we make what. We make something out of whatever we want it. You know what I mean? Like, whatever I want to be in life, whatever I want to feel in life, I can make it. So it shifted me in that way and where it's like. Sounds kind of corny, but. No, it's like. Yeah, it made me a more relaxed person because it just kind of like it puts things into a perspective where things shouldn't be so big as what I think they are. Right. And just like, if I think like that, then I'll move through life a lot. Relax.
Josh Leva
So I have two ones. Two things that like situations that move me. Like that too, or not like that. But how we were talking about when Kobe died.
Sebastian
Yeah, bro.
Josh Leva
When Kobe died for like two weeks, bro. My whole. I felt like I was living in a different reality. I know it sounds like very. That's also very dramatic. But like, anything I would do, I would. I would try to go 100 and like 50 billion percent. Like I. I was trying to adapt that like mamba mentality. Like, it just. I don't know, I wanted to take some of what he brought to the earth and like bring it into my life. That was one. Another film, though. Going back to film. Have you ever seen the movie Goodwill Hunting?
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
With Robin Williams?
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
There's a scene where he's like talking that.
Sebastian
The guy.
Josh Leva
The other guy. Who was the other lead? Matthew.
Guest
Sorry, it was Matt Damon.
Josh Leva
Matt Damon. Matt Damon, yeah.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
So Matt Damon is like a genius, right? At mit and he basically like, is a know it all and. And he finally meets. He meets like Robin Williams because he's kind of like a troublemaker because he's kind of like a know it all. Like a smart ass, right? And then he basically is like, like trying to tell Robin, like how, you know, he's like. He's like. He feels more superior than him. I don't know, he has like this ego that he carries. And then Robin Williams is like, you talk about love, but you've never experienced love. Like you've. You. You talk about like, you know what, you can describe the SIS. The 16th Chapel, but you've never stood underneath it and looked up and seen the texture. Like he was talking about, like, it's one thing to say it, but it's another thing to really experience and live it and. And feel it. Feel it, you know? Yeah. I remember when I saw that movie and I. That scene, I was like, damn, I gotta really look at life like that. Like. Yeah, like, do, man. Yeah.
Sebastian
100. Like, exactly. Do it. Yeah. You can read about it, you can see it, you can do your research on it. It's one thing to do that. Yeah, but I know what you mean.
Josh Leva
There's another guy who I saw in an interview recently on a red carpet, and they were like, what is some love advice you can give me? Do you guys see that? And then he's like, the one who's in love is always. He's the one who always wins because he's the only one that. He's the one who felt, you know, not he, but he's the one who felt the one who, like, loses or did it wasn't in love. Like, they miss out on life.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You know, like, he'd rather be the one who was, like, fully immersed, fully in love.
Sebastian
Yeah, I love that. That's cool.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
Another movie that have fucking driven me to the ground and changed the. My aspect in life and what I love to do. Can you guess? It's pretty easy.
Josh Leva
Is another one you talk about a lot.
Sebastian
Not really. Kind of. It's my life, bro.
Guest
Fast and Furious.
Sebastian
Yes, sir.
Guest
Tokyo.
Sebastian
Tokyo Drift.
Josh Leva
Oh, Tokyo Drift. Yeah.
Sebastian
When I stepped out of that movie theater, you know, I was already inspired by the first one and the second one, you know, like, cool. But to Drift was more my scene.
Josh Leva
Oh, that's the third one.
Sebastian
When they go to Tokyo and when. With, like, 90% of the original cast was not there.
Josh Leva
Wait, is that the second one?
Sebastian
Technically third.
Josh Leva
Oh, it is. Okay. Because two fast.
Sebastian
Because it's a Fast and the Furious. Too Fast. Too Furious. And then Tokyo Drift. Mm. Even the opening scene, like, they go to that, like, that school and you have to pass by security to, like, go into that school. Yeah. You know, they're portraying it as a really dangerous. I guess I don't like using this word, but, like, ghettoish school, which it wasn't. Because around that school was like, mad houses that were beautiful. So I didn't understand that part. But even that squid, it just put me, like, damn, this is like me in Norwalk, you know, and, like, getting in trouble with my parents and they sent me over to, like, Japan. And, like, so, like, those cars were, like, always my thing. Right. And, like, when I left that movie theater, I said, that's what I want to do in Life is just drive those kind of cars, have that kind of grungy lifestyle, like not care and just really, it's just me and my whips. Yeah. And that's it. And I feel like that's a life that I still try to live. It's just always embedded in me, you know? Like, I put Teriyaki Boys, Tokyo Drift in my car at least once a day. I wonder if you know. No, but that's one. Honestly, it sounds funny, but it's one of the movies I have always. And that movie came out when? 2007. 2000.
Jess
6.
Josh Leva
6.
Sebastian
6. Bro, I was in high school, brother.
Josh Leva
That's such a good age to like, for this movie to come out.
Sebastian
Yeah, bro, I was in high school, man. Bow wow. Like, bro, I with Bow Wow at that moment, like, it's just like such a classic movie, bro.
Josh Leva
Yo, this isn't to talk on Bow Wow or like, or Mario Marion or anything like that. But like, it's crazy, cuz they were so cool.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
Like, they were the epitome of cool. And like, they. I've seen videos of them, like at concerts, and it's just like, kind of sad, dude. It's kind of cringy. I'm just like, wow, that's Bow Wow. That's Omarion.
Sebastian
Let me hold.
Josh Leva
I was thinking about that. It's just crazy.
Sebastian
You know?
Josh Leva
Who hasn't lost that touch is Chris Brown. Like, I feel like he's still cool.
Sebastian
He is cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But I know what you mean. Like, bro, Bow, he let himself go, man. Yeah.
Guest
Challenge where it's like you post. It's like whenever you fake flex.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Because he's like, I'm about to hop on a private plane. Then he got caught like in first class or something like that. Like in a commercial flight.
Guest
Yeah. Or like he was renting out the plane for the photo shoot. So it's like a Bow Wow challenge.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
You see that top picture on the left? Like.
Josh Leva
Oh, yeah. Apparently he like. He said he still looks so good because he doesn't eat meat or something like that. Yeah, that's what he was saying. He said he hasn't aged because he doesn't eat. Oh, he doesn't eat? Yeah, he doesn't eat.
Sebastian
But you know what, man? He did an amazing job in Tokyo Drift. That was his role, man. He. He killed it, bro. And he was cool as in Tokyo Drift. And I will stand by Bow on Tokyo Drift.
Josh Leva
Do you think that everybody has like a prime. Yeah, right.
Sebastian
And then I would say I Would say naturally, you definitely have your prime, whether that be physically, financially or mentally. Mentally, yeah, yeah. But what's more important, a physical prime, a financial prime or a mental prime.
Josh Leva
You, you think that they all come in different stages.
Sebastian
Yeah, yeah. Sometimes men, sometimes financial prime. You can be up mentally.
Josh Leva
Yeah, that's true.
Sebastian
What would you, what would you. If you had a pick.
Josh Leva
Mental prime all day?
Sebastian
Yeah, right, yeah.
Josh Leva
Because I feel like that also controls like how you feel. Right.
Sebastian
And things you do. Yeah, yeah. And how you react with others.
Josh Leva
Yeah, yeah.
Sebastian
I would definitely do mental. So I think the way of life is try to align all those together and keep the ball rolling with all of those three as long as you can.
Josh Leva
But I feel like somebody like for Bawa for example, because we're on topic of him, like when he's in his prime, like I wonder if he was like aware of like, bro, this is like peak. You probably don't realize that you think this is always going to go up.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You think it just continues to get better.
Sebastian
Probably. Yeah. Cuz he was, he was Snoop Dogg's
Josh Leva
like nephew or something like that where he was Prodigy.
Sebastian
Prodigy. Yeah, yeah. Did a good job. He had some bangers.
Jess
A lot of bangers.
Josh Leva
Super.
Jess
All the girly pops. Love Bow Wow back in, bro.
Sebastian
When I was in high school, Bow Wow was like the dude, man. And Chris Brown. Later after Bow, bro, I bought like
Josh Leva
a Little Bow Wow CDs. Yeah, like all the time.
Sebastian
What a cool name too. Yeah. Bow wow. Yeah.
Josh Leva
What was your movie just. Did you say a movie?
Sebastian
No, she hasn't.
Josh Leva
Or a show or anything that's like moved you spiritually, emotionally, mentally? Financially?
Jess
Unfortunately, no, not financially. I was trying to think while you guys are talking about it and I don't know, maybe you could cut this out. So. But honestly, like none that I could think of right now on the spot. I'm sure. But like I'm just.
Sebastian
Yeah, yeah.
Josh Leva
Do you like film?
Jess
I do, yeah. But I take it for what it is. Like I'm not one to really dissect it and be like, oh no, they missed the mark over here because. Oh yeah, like I'm. I'm gonna appreciate it for the art that film is.
Sebastian
Yeah, yeah. That's crazy though that the Michael Jackson biopic has like a 33 on rotten tomatoes and like a 90 on popcorn. What? And what does that mean?
Josh Leva
I think that's just like.
Sebastian
What does that mean?
Josh Leva
That's just more of the audience or
Sebastian
how much like the, the, like the, like how much of the audience Actually goes to the movie and like how. How popular it is.
Josh Leva
No, that's what the audience voted.
Guest
Audience.
Josh Leva
These aren't so Rotten Tomatoes. Actual critics. Yeah, like you have to get some sort of, I don't know, certificate to like say that you're a critic so you can. Your votes or your, you know, your review matters, I guess. But look, bro, look at the. Look at this. Only has 238 reviews. The other one is. What is it, 10,000.
Sebastian
Is it possible to look at some of those rotten tomato reviews?
Josh Leva
Yeah, you just click on it.
Jess
Which ones you want to do? The tomato meter or popcorn meter?
Sebastian
No, the tomato. Say, did Michael Jackson get plastic surgery? Are you sure these are critics?
Jess
That's what I'm saying. I feel like these are just regular degular.
Josh Leva
Oh, never mind.
Sebastian
So what the.
Guest
No, I think they, they are like they, they work with some type of media.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Guest
Because that's how they get in.
Sebastian
But that's up what they say, that's like, that's like kind of like Sepasan.
Josh Leva
Right.
Sebastian
Michael is a very bad movie with very good music that Antoine Fuqua deploys to disguise the fact that Michael is a very bad movie. Like what? Unfortunately, Michael is a botched job after. Who the is Fuqua?
Josh Leva
I think he's a director.
Sebastian
Director does. Interesting. Never mind.
Jess
I'm so sorry.
Josh Leva
No, it doesn't.
Sebastian
It doesn't matter. No, not because of that. I'm just like.
Josh Leva
It doesn't matter what I'm saying, bro. Like personally, I'm saying no.
Sebastian
Yeah, that's what matters.
Josh Leva
Knowing you, knowing everybody in this room, knowing the listeners who bop our heads. You guys are gonna enjoy the movie. If you like Michael Jackson's music, you know, I think you're gonna love this movie. It was good.
Sebastian
He played Dirty Diana. I think he did dirty Diana.
Josh Leva
There was more songs that he like. They did like more full performances on than others. But there's a lot of music.
Sebastian
Got it. Got it. Big camera, bro.
Josh Leva
What do you mean?
Sebastian
My camera. The one that I use for me. Yeah, I didn't bring it.
Josh Leva
Oh, you don't leave it here just cuz you like?
Sebastian
No, cuz I. I use it at home.
Josh Leva
That's. Yeah.
Guest
With these reviews though, it reminds me of a quote that I love. It's haters and supporters. They both pay the same admission price.
Josh Leva
Oh.
Guest
So it's always.
Sebastian
It kind of reminds me of Josh's favorite quote. You want to say real quick you say it. I don't know it as well as you. I'll Botch it. Say it. Please. Look at Saud while you say it.
Josh Leva
Well, it's. I don't know which one goes first, but it's. One week they hate you, the next week they love you. Just make sure you get paid for both weeks.
Sebastian
That almost similar, right? Yeah. So. So. So you being such inspired by euphoria, is there some things that you actually mimicked perfectly from the movie when you were on your party days? Like, did you do any drugs? And if.
Guest
No, no drugs. No drugs. A lot of alcohol and a lot of. A lot of.
Josh Leva
Just a chaos.
Sebastian
So you sleep with a lot of women, huh?
Josh Leva
You're a. Huh.
Sebastian
So you're. Maybe we can cut this out. You have a girlfriend?
Guest
Yeah, I have a girlfriend now. I am a. I'm retired. And I found love and I got that out of my system.
Josh Leva
Damn.
Sebastian
So you just walk into parties, there's Cell, the big old slut.
Josh Leva
That was what they call them.
Sebastian
It was a lover.
Guest
It was more lover boy. It wasn't like. Like, I'm sleeping with everyone. It's just like, I'm falling in love.
Sebastian
Yeah. Girls. Yeah, that's cool, man. I mean. Yeah, of course, that's fine.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
And go to parties and listen to music and see people do drugs. But honestly, euphoria, like, I don't know. What. I don't know. It was in la. Right. That's where, like, season one is in la. Right.
Josh Leva
I think the whole show.
Sebastian
I've been in LA for a very long time. I've never been to those kind of parties where they're literally doing heroin pastillas. Like. Like, like what? Zendaya's name? What's her name on the roo. She's like. Can't even breathe. And with a needle in her arm, Like, I don't. I've never been to those kind of parties. I felt like it was a little exaggerated, but God damn, she gave me anxiety.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
Like, by the time I go to parties, like, drinking and smoking weed. Mariguas. Yeah, that's it.
Josh Leva
Yeah. I've never been. I've never even seen anybody, like, shoot up like that.
Sebastian
Like, maybe.
Josh Leva
No, I've never have. Yeah.
Sebastian
Like, I've never witnessed anything like that. And like. Well, maybe because, like, I don't really hang out with people like that or like, even would want to.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
But like, those parties that they would go to and those nights and how they knew each other and the way that they act with each other, like, that's. That was a lot.
Josh Leva
Not to get too deep into this. But when I think of that, I think of, like, homeless people like that do these kind of crazy drugs like that, you know, not necessarily like Hollywood people at these parties doing heroin.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
But then. Then you think about these, like, rock stars back in the day. Like, that's what they would do. That was their drug of choice, I think.
Sebastian
Yeah. Yeah. I would watch the. I don't know if you guys seen this on Netflix. And there's a documentary on the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It's basically a love letter to one of their friends. I think his name was Halil Hil. Was probably one of the first or second members of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. And the main guy from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, his name is Anthony Kerr something. Anthony. What's his name?
Jess
Clyde.
Sebastian
Yeah, Anthony. No, it's Kiedis or something like that. Anyways, so him and that guy, they would just. They would do a lot of heroin.
Josh Leva
A lot.
Sebastian
Where it got to the point where they were gonna lose their band. Wow. And it got. And, dude, you've seen that face before.
Josh Leva
Yeah, main dude, he died.
Sebastian
No, but the homie, that was that. The homie inspired him to keep going. The homie inspired the whole band. He was like the magic touch. He was like the rock of the band, you know? And then he just got really into drugs, and, you know, they both stopped for a while, and then they went back on the train and unfortunately, he passed away.
Josh Leva
Overdose.
Sebastian
A drug overdose. Yeah. And it's a really. It's crazy because you. I watched the documentary because I love the Red Hot Chili Peppers, but you watch it, and it's just kind of like. It's a love letter to his friend.
Josh Leva
Wow.
Sebastian
And they all talk about him and stuff like that. I didn't. You know, I didn't even know.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
You know, it's. It's crazy. And I don't even know why I was talking about this.
Josh Leva
Guys, if you're listening and you're currently doing heroin, please stop. Don't do it. Don't do it, man. Please.
Jess
I feel like you'd be surprised. Again, we don't imagine these celebrities and stuff doing it, but, yeah, you never know who. Who.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Jess
Does. You know? 100 when I remember a few years ago, not at this recent Coachella, but I think I went in, like, 20, 23. I remember I was, like, standing by the bar area, and, like, the stage was in front of me, but, like, kind of far away. And I started smelling something. And I asked Jovan, I was like, what's that smell? Like it Smelled literally like burnt plastic. And she's like, oh, someone's doing crack.
Sebastian
Yeah. Like what?
Jess
Like here. Like it smelled like literally burned plastic. And I'm like, first of all, insane. Second of all, you smell that and you're like, yeah, let me have some.
Josh Leva
Like, that's what. It's just crack is like they were smoking it.
Jess
I'm assuming, I'm assuming. Yeah. I don't know.
Sebastian
All the kinds of things supposed to do it. Yeah, there's.
Josh Leva
That scares the hell out of me, bro.
Sebastian
Like, bro, you know, sad. There's. There's. There's kids and young adults who grew up with family members doing it. Yeah. And that might be in front of them. Maybe not in front of them, but to them, es. I don't know. It's a little bit more normal than what we're used to. Right. I remember and I'll tell this story because it's interesting and I think this is cool. Not cool. It's not cool, but it's interesting to talk about. When I was about 21, I still lived. I lived in Riverside for, For a couple years. And you know, I didn't. I went to college, didn't work out, obviously. And I. I wanted to make money, man. My parents didn't have too much money, you know, they don't have money. The things that I wanted to do or get, which I was stupid with my checks anyway. Cuz I'd get a check and I just go to Remember Heritage at Forever 21. Yeah. Just spend my check there, bro. Like, and then all the tip money that I would get if I was getting tipped, I just. Anyways, I'm going along. But I used to work at Fresh and Easy.
Josh Leva
Oh yeah.
Sebastian
Fresh and Easy. Yeah. I didn't work there. I worked at the warehouse.
Josh Leva
Okay.
Sebastian
The warehouse where it's mad cold. And I used to cut for eight hours straight, bro. And honestly, this is why I love my paisanos. My. Not. Not just like my Mexican family, but like, bro. And like, I feel like this is why I am. I personally think that I am so cultured in life because every single job I've had until about I was 24, 25, I was always with immigrants. Always, bro. Always, always, always. And honestly, I didn't want it any other way. It was like the best, right? Because there's nothing like working with like immigrants. You know, they're the most. They're the coolest people and they teach you amazing slang and cool cuss words. But there was this kid that I used to work with at this warehouse I used to work at a conveyor belt and it was like four on each side, four on the other side. And there was a main dude that was like the manager and we would just get chunks of meat for like eight hours straight, bro. Yeah, we'd have some breaks, but eight hours straight, bro. I, I'd have a metal mesh glove and a knife on the other side. And all we did for eight hours is try to cut the best possible amount of fat around like pork chops or like little steaks to get rid of. And then yeah, cuz the guy would cut it up in this huge. It's like, you know, like when rib, ribeyes come and rib eyes, you don't just take a perfectly ribeye out of a cow, right? They come in chunks. So the guy cuts them and he just tosses them on the conveyor belt. And he's doing that for eight hours too, too. But I'm grabbing the steaks or the pork chops or whatever. We're cutting and we're just cutting, bro. I kid you not. The next day when I went home for the first day, my hands were like this.
Josh Leva
Damn.
Sebastian
Like the ligaments in my hands and it was like. I kid you not, I was in Randall Valley, huge warehouses over there off like Alessandro and like people who are from the ID in the world. I'm talking about
Josh Leva
someone knows, someone knows.
Sebastian
Someone probably knows.
Guest
I know that street.
Sebastian
And so bro, and I just like as, as, as painful as it was for me, all I can think was like, oh my God, like dude, I work next to like 60 year old like ladies that are doing this non stop, bro.
Josh Leva
Same thing, same thing.
Sebastian
And there's so much like they're used to it already, but I'm like, dude, this is not cool, bro. Anyways, so I would, so now I'm getting to the drug part. I would, I meet this kid, bro. So I'm like. And I knew he was like a little Cholito kid, but nice guy, really nice guy. And we went to Carl's Jr. For our break. It was like a 15, 20 minute break. And I was 21, he was probably 19, but he was like those little cholitos you meet. Very skinny, very like man, you feel like you have been doing some time or something like that, you know. Super nice kid though, very energetic. And then I found out that he, we go in his car and he goes, hey man, you want some? And I was like, nah man, I don't really smoke weed, you know, especially right now, like going back into the. Into the warehouse and working like, I'm not doing that. He goes, nah, man. And he told me it was crack. Yeah. And it's crazy. I can always remember Chito wrote little
Josh Leva
guy, bro on his break, like, just smoke.
Sebastian
Smoking that on his break, bro.
Josh Leva
And would it change, like, his demeanor and stuff?
Sebastian
No.
Josh Leva
That's crazy.
Sebastian
No. So how I met him and how I thought he was, and how nice of a kid he is, and shooting the. With me, he was probably high. Wow. Yeah. And it's crazy. I always remember, like, La pipa was, like, nice. It's clear. And it looked kind of dirty, you know, and it had nothing in there. You know, you just get a little bowl and you put some weed and you can see it all. But this. This pipe is just like that. It looked like a regular wheat pipe, too, but. But there was, like a little resin or something like that. I don't know what it was.
Josh Leva
Did it smell like plastic, bro?
Sebastian
I kid you not. He goes like this. Lights it from underneath, and he just goes like this for, like, one second. That's it, Right. He takes a hit and he blows it out. I swear to God. Blew out a cloud.
Josh Leva
It's like so much smoke. You were in the car, bro.
Sebastian
Yeah, yeah. But he was blowing it out. I was like a. Rolled down the window, bro. I was like this, bro. I was like. I was scared I was gonna get like, yeah, who knows?
Josh Leva
Be cracked out.
Sebastian
Yeah. No, but then that's it. And he ate his food. And, like. Because he was always very honest.
Josh Leva
Oh, he was cracked out.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
So, bro. So, like.
Sebastian
But like, me saying now, this is like, people who go to Fresh and easy now are probably like, fuck, no.
Jess
I don't think it exists anymore. Way.
Josh Leva
It doesn't. Oh, does it not? What?
Sebastian
It was so fresh and easy, bro.
Josh Leva
So fresh and easy.
Sebastian
Yeah. So that was, like, my story. No, Fresh and Easy is not in business. The grocery train officially went defunct.
Josh Leva
Fools were cracked out. Too much cracked out.
Jess
He's doing okay.
Josh Leva
I know. Really, bro.
Sebastian
Scary. Yeah, you're right. You're right.
Jess
But did it smell like that?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Jess
Remember?
Sebastian
It smelled plasticky. I smelt it before already. Yeah, yeah. It just smells plasticky. But, yeah, that was my story with that kid. Well, he was, like, a couple years younger. Wow, bro. Yeah, but it's crazy. It's. It's. So many people go through it, man. It's just. It sucks.
Josh Leva
Like, addiction and stuff.
Sebastian
Yeah. And honestly, like, I might be. You know, some people might be listening to this and they agree because it probably, you know, I have some. Not close family members, but family members that I know that go through something like this, you know, just like everybody, bro, in life you start to realize that all families, especially people, there's people and our families, you might see a perfect family. But, bro, there's. They're suffering just like everybody else and everybody does. And, you know, it's not something that, like, you think about and you're like, damn, everybody suffers. I just think it's a normal thing that families suffer. Not everybody's perfect. Not every family's perfect. And that's why you have to stay strong with your family and push through with your family and help family members out and reach out. That's super important to reach out to people. You know, I got an uncle recently that I used. I used to, like, talk to all the time. And I. I started to really think about him. I'm like, damn. I haven't really talked to him in a while. And it kind of reminded me to, like, reach out and see if everything's okay, because you never know.
Josh Leva
Was he. I feel like I don't know. I haven't reached out.
Sebastian
I haven't reached out. Dude, this is last night. But, you know, I just kind of like, yeah, I just reach out. You never know what people are going through, bro.
Josh Leva
When you get those little, like, inkling feelings you gotta act on, it's because something, you gotta act on them. Yeah, I'm a huge believer in.
Sebastian
Me too.
Josh Leva
If I get something, bro, where, like, I get a little moved or my mom pops in my head or my brother or whatever, I'm on the phone with them immediately. Yeah, I just feel like there's some. There's always something there.
Sebastian
Life's too short, bro. Yeah. I just had a family member pass away. I'm not gonna say who, but you know I told you, right?
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
It just sucks, man. It sucks. It's crazy, bro. Even, like, it hits. Even like my dad, you know, he's just the same age as me. Like, you know, like, or something like that. You know what I mean? But it's like, that's why you gotta practice speaking with family members and like, making them understand that, like, no, we're good, you know, everything's okay. Because I think the power of prayer, the power of. Of. Of speech and just talking to one another really heals you. You know what I mean?
Josh Leva
I believe that too.
Sebastian
Like laughing. I truly believe we laugh because it heals our body. And there's like. And there is actual stimulation and chemicals that Bounce around in our brain, and those chemicals are probably really healthy for us.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
I truly believe that. And I think I'm right.
Josh Leva
No, I think you are.
Sebastian
I think I am right. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Josh Leva
For sure.
Sebastian
All those little things. Yeah. So, yeah. Especially just being around good energy. Being around good people is really healthy for you. Really. You know, and. Yeah. So let's focus on that.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Yeah.
Guest
Quick question. Do you guys remember the day you decided to, like, change your whole life around where you're like, I'm a. I really want to lock in. Like, this is like, I'm tired of this life I'm living. Like, I want to go to the next level. Remember? Like, have you. Have you had a breaking point or something that, like, led you to that moment where it's like, oh, I don't want to work at fresh and easy anymore. I want to.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Guest
I want to start my business. Like, do you remember that moment?
Josh Leva
Yeah, Yeah, I do. Do you want to go first?
Sebastian
No, you got it.
Josh Leva
I started working really young, like, at 15 and a half. I remember when I was in high school, you had to get, like, a worker's permit, and I went to get a worker's permit as soon as I turned 15 and a half, bro, just because I was very inspired about my mom. She was always super hard working. She, like. And I just. I took after that, right? And I wanted to work. My first job, I don't even think it exists anymore, was red brick pizza. It was like a pizza. It was like a. It was like a chipotle for pizza. Like, you would just like, oh, make your toppings and stuff. And I was a pizza boy, and I make pizzas for people at 15 and a half. And I remember. I like, dude, I think at the time, minimum wage was $7 and, like, 25 cents, bro. I'm not joking. Yeah, it's crazy. Six things like that. Because I'm like, damn, I'm that old. You are. And I remember I would hear people be like, yeah, minimum wage is 10 bucks. I'm like, 10 bucks?
Sebastian
Yeah. Like, oh, it went up.
Josh Leva
It went up.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And now what?
Sebastian
What?
Josh Leva
2000.
Guest
2009.
Josh Leva
2009.
Jess
So it has remained the same since 2009. Minimum federal minimum wage in the United states is still 7.25, despite the fact that inflation has gone up the way that it has. There's no way, dude, this is a hundred. This is based on the u. S. Department of labor. Go.
Josh Leva
Wait, but I thought it was $20.
Jess
So it. Each state has different minimums, But Federally, like the government mandated, still $7.25. And there's some states where this is still applicable.
Josh Leva
Dude, that's, that is insane, man. That. Because I'm going to be honest, like, I know people. There's probably people out there listening to us that are getting paid. That, that is tough, bro. Especially like in this economy. Like, but this, like how much inflation has, you know, inflated.
Sebastian
How much is the minimum wage right now in California?
Josh Leva
725. No, not, no, not in California. In California, I think it's 20 bucks. No, has to be.
Sebastian
No, not 20.
Jess
16.90 per hour.
Josh Leva
Oh, okay. Where did I hear that? It was 20 bucks.
Sebastian
So like if you work at like
Josh Leva
fast food workers, minimum is 20.
Sebastian
Yeah, like if you really?
Jess
Yeah, but some, again, it all depends. Cities, right? Like, yeah, West Hollywood mandate higher local minimum wages. But going Back to the 7, that's like an average to only 20 states. 20 states still follow.
Josh Leva
Dude, that's, that, that's insane. Okay, obviously other states, cost of living is different, but bro, that's crazy. Still. Dude, I was getting paid that in 2000, 2005.
Sebastian
Yeah, but those states that, that offer still the 725. There's, there's humans there that it's like, okay, yeah, like I live fine. But what's that, what's that, what's that word? Fine. What does that give you? Those states don't offer, bro. I know, you know what I mean? Like, it's not like, oh, we're the state of. We're the city of like Chicago and it's like 7:25. No, these are states that are like, there's nothing there. Yeah, for you. That's why people within those kind of states have these huge dreams and that's why they move to, to California, they go to Texas, they go to Chicago, they go to the big cities, the big city dreams, you know, because they're born into this.
Jess
Anyway, sorry, that derailed the conversation.
Josh Leva
No, that's good.
Jess
But you were chatting, you were talking about how you were getting paid this when.
Josh Leva
Oh yeah. So I was getting paid minimum wage. And anyways, I knew that I've always wanted to work. I've always been passionate about like working. I wanted to make my own money. I wanted to be independent. So we started working really young, but I was never fulfilled. And you know me, bro, I'm big into like self help, wanting to be the best version of myself. I've always carried that. And I really learned all this from my mom, bro, because she's really like She. I view her as, like, the epitome of a human. Like, she has just gone through all these adversities and, like, seen the light and. You know what I mean? Like, just inspired a generation as the leader of, like, or nine brothers and sisters, you know? So I wanted that for myself. That was really, like, a role model for. She was a role model for me in that department, right? So when I was in and out of jobs, bro, I never felt fulfilled. I was always just looking for that next thing that was really going to fulfill me. And that is when I kind of took the interest in, like, YouTube and creating content. I think I've told this story before, but basically, not to, like, for people who have heard this, I'm sorry if you guys are hearing this again, but I was working at a. I was working at a warehouse for hospice, where we were. We would pack hospice equipment into, like, vans, stuff like that, and I would drive them to, like, different hospitals and stuff like that, or homes for people who were in hospice to drop off beds or whatever supplies that they may need. And I was miserable, bro. Like, I absolutely hated it. I actually was working at LA Fitness at the time as a personal trainer, and I started making YouTube videos. So I wanted this. It was more of a sales job, the LA Fitness, and I wanted to focus on, like, creating content. And there was, like, a little pocket in between that where I was like, I left LA Fitness and I started making YouTube videos. And I remember this is the part that I feel like I tell a lot. My cousin Erwin came over to my house, and at this point, I had already known Superego. I had been working under him for about, like, a year. I say working, but, like, really just, like, learning as a student. And I'll never forget it, bro. I was shooting a video called you'd Ain't a Guido. It was my first YouTube video I've ever dropped in 2011. And he was recording me with my mom's camcorder. And, like, I delivered the first line, and he was like, okay, stop, right? We didn't know, like, camera, rolling, action, like, all these terms that I use now. And he stopped it. And I looked at him and I said, I was meant to do this. This is it. I don't know what it is, but this is it. What we're doing right now, this creativity, what's happening right now, this is what I'm about. And that's when I was like, I'm really gonna do this, man. And then I remember I left that job. I went into this Hospice job, because I just wanted something that I didn't have to think. I just wanted to show up, you, earn enough money to get through it so I can go home and make YouTube videos. And then I told myself, like, once I hit 50,000 subscribers, I would be able to, like, leave that job. And I was making, like, 400 bucks a month. That's when I moved in with Eric. And I'll never forget, like, I was walking through the aisles of Walmart because I literally had no money. He was charging me, like, 400 bucks a month for rent, which was. Honestly, I was just grateful, right, to be able to get out and be under his wing and live with somebody like that creatively. And I was fucking starving, dude. I had no money. I was literally looking at the frozen food section. Like, what can I afford? But I. At that moment, bro, like, it didn't even matter. Like, I was like, I'm so lucky that I get to, like, at least do this, you know?
Sebastian
Like, I'm. I'm doing it by myself.
Josh Leva
Doing it by myself, man. So that was kind of like my pivotal moment where I would, like, kind of all. Was that the question?
Guest
Yeah, yeah, that the question. That was a good answer.
Sebastian
Yeah. For me, it was just knowing that I can just. I. It's just not. It's not just me. It's everybody, probably in this room and everybody listening, you know, that you can do more with your life. Of course, you know, and that was really. It wasn't like, something that I realized that the jobs that I was having, I was using them for a stepping stone. And I think that's what people don't understand as well. And people don't want to work because they have pride in what that work is. And I didn't have no pride on what I was doing, you know, prior. And I'm not even saying, like, once Content creating was starting, dude. My dream job was being a hairdresser. And I lived it. I loved it. I was. I was dancing every day. You what? I mean, like, until this day, I think it's the coolest job in the world. That's another episode. But it was. I came to a conclusion, like, when I was young, I didn't care, bro. I work at a car wash. SEO Caros. Vacuuming cars with my. My fellow chilangos. That was. That I was working with. And I liked it. It was cool. I'd get tips. I'd go to high school. After that, I work at Jack in a Box. After that, I got a job at Volkswagen LA Fitness I was being an irrigator. I worked at a white. Bro. The list continues. Irrigation. Oh. So I used to work for, like, a landscaping company.
Josh Leva
Oh, gotcha.
Sebastian
And since I was the only one that knew English, they gave me, like, kind of like a. It wasn't really a higher role, to be honest, but a higher role. And they gave me a truck. And I'd go to a bunch of campuses in San Diego, actually, because I was living in Marietta, Temecula, and, like, I think we would go to San Diego State or something like that. Like where all the dorms are at. Or like Torrey Pines. I'll go see. And I. If there was. There's irrigation. Irrigation, like the sprinkler system. Water systems. If there was something wrong, I fix it. Or if there was something wrong, I tell somebody to fix it.
Josh Leva
Did you ever have a job in sales?
Sebastian
Yeah, Volkswagen.
Josh Leva
You were a sales rep?
Sebastian
Yeah, I did.
Josh Leva
Yeah. I think that's one of the best skills you can, like, develop. Yeah.
Sebastian
But you know what's crazy is if I was in sales right now, I'd kill it. Yeah. Who I was when I was working at Volkswagen was a different Sebastian, but
Josh Leva
that developed this Sebastian. That's my point, maybe. No, it did. It did, bro. Every job developed.
Sebastian
Sure.
Josh Leva
Who you are.
Sebastian
Yeah, 100. But my people skills, I think, came later, dude. I was a lot shy, not as confident. It's not that I was, like, lacking something. It's just. I just wasn't. It just. I don't know. I think once I started hitting, like, my 24s.
Josh Leva
Did you feel like you had it in you, though, or did you not even think like that?
Jess
Yeah.
Sebastian
And that's what the whole point of this conversation was. It was. I never had a pivotal moment where I was like, I am so done with this. You know, I started to understand that every job is just something for me to do something that I love. So if I was doing landscaping, if I was working at a front desk somewhere, if I was working at a restaurant, I would just use that money to invest in a craft. And that craft was doing hair at the time, buying the clippers, buying the. The equipment, buying a salon chair that I can put in my mom's garage, little things like that, you know? And I always tell people, if you love photography and you have a shitty job right now, stack up your money and buy the equipment. But people don't want to do that, or people don't even want to work in general. People don't want to be behind a cash Register. They have so much pride in that, you know what I mean? But they don't understand that you're not going to be there forever. What's better, to make money or to think that you're gonna make money soon with some prideful ass job that you have?
Josh Leva
Sure.
Sebastian
You know what I mean? People don't have that in them anymore. And I didn't care. I'd work anywhere, bro. As long as I was making fetti, I was doing construction, bro. I didn't care. You think I like waking up at 5 in the morning and start pouring cement at 6? No. Digging trenches and. No. But I knew that I was gonna get paid at the end of the day and with that money would buy me something else. And then I can finally leave and do what I want to do. Yeah, but people don't think like that. But anyways, my pillow moment was just knowing that I have so much more to offer. I'm so charismatic. I am creative. I am somebody who wants to work harder with their brain other than their, you know, their hands. You know what I mean? But shout out to all my blue collar workers, because I did that. And honestly, that shit's tight. And if you like that, that is tight. Like people, there's a lot of, like, I've been in this. I was a blue collar worker too. And labor. Worker. Labor was probably 70 of what I did.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
And I think that's why I'm so handy with what I do and, and so handy with a lot of things because I have the balls to do it. Right. And my dad was in construction and still is in construction. He's retired now. But, you know, so I. That was always my example. Right. But there's people that they die for that they, they're like, you know, they're like hard labor workers. And I fuck with that. Shout out to you guys.
Josh Leva
Me too.
Sebastian
But me personally, shit, maybe I'm more of a pussy, but not me. I wanted to do hair. I wanted to, to, to, you know, to look good. I don't like being dirty, you know what I mean? So. But I did all that. I did all that.
Josh Leva
And that was like, you're like creative outlet.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You know, because I, Bro, I remember like when you would cut my hair, what, 15 now? 10 years ago. Yeah, 12 years ago. Like, I remember seeing you in your element, like you were glowing, bro. You know what I mean? Like, I could tell you were happy to be there. I can tell you were very passionate about it. You had a lot to offer and that was like Your way of, like, expressing yourself, like, creatively.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And honestly, that's why I think I gravitated towards you, because I was like, oh, he's a creative. He's like me in his own art form.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
You know what I mean?
Sebastian
100.
Josh Leva
Because I also think, like, hairdressing is an art form. I really do. Like, you're changing the way somebody looks, their appearance, and making them feel better. Like, that's a beautiful art form.
Sebastian
Yeah. Especially being a hairdresser. The art form is not just the hair. It's the way that you react with people. Yeah.
Josh Leva
Exactly how you make them feel, bro. That's number one. That's a lot of power, bro. And like, your barber, your hairstylist, your. For girls, nail techs and stuff. Like, dude, they hold a lot of power in how they make you feel.
Sebastian
100%, dude.
Josh Leva
Would you agree, Jess?
Jess
Yes.
Sebastian
Yeah. Yeah. And we can clip this, too, because I'll tell you what, A lot of people can cut hair, and a lot of people can cut it good, but
Josh Leva
not like scrappy cocoa.
Sebastian
Who. Who do I want to hang out with for the next 45 minutes to an hour and a half?
Josh Leva
Yeah. And I'm sure you had.
Sebastian
Is the magic.
Josh Leva
Yes.
Sebastian
I had clients that would come to me. I don't. I never used to like calling them clients or my friends.
Josh Leva
No clients, bro.
Sebastian
Clients. But I'd cut their hair because they would want to spend time with me. Yeah. And on top of that, the plus is that I was good at it. Yeah. And, you know, that's always the plus, but it's. It's people skills. And that's when I really developed, especially because when you're good at doing something, you start to get cocky, but in a really good way. Right. It's like, oh, sit in my chair. I will make you look good. Don't worry about that. We're gonna have a good time.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
So that's why I love being a hairdresser, because so much confidence. So many people relied on you, and you were everything to people.
Josh Leva
I think I. I. For the longest time, I've kind of. For the longest time, I would always tell people that you were my favorite, like, hairdresser I've ever had. A hair stylist.
Sebastian
Yeah. You would recommend me?
Josh Leva
A lot of people, bro, because I was. I genuinely like.
Sebastian
You would recommend. Yeah.
Josh Leva
Yeah. I genuinely thought that you were incredible. And I also saw the way you worked, and I was like, dude, there's, like, passion behind this. And I. And I. I kind of experienced that
Sebastian
now but there are people that go into a barber shop, a salon, and they don't want to talk to you.
Josh Leva
Right.
Sebastian
They just want to get their hair cut and they want to leave. And that'll work too.
Josh Leva
Bro, I'm a huge, like, customer service guy, customer experience. I want to feel that, especially from something that, like, I really care about my hair. So finding somebody who is involved and is passionate about that, like, that entices me. You know what I mean? And, bro, he's like that guy where he's like, looking, he's adjusting my chin, he's making sure everything is good, and oh, my God, I missed a spot here. Okay, I like this. Let's try this next time. I'm like, bro, you getting fired up or horny? I don't know.
Sebastian
Yeah, it's a cool thing. And that, that goes with a lot of careers.
Josh Leva
Yeah. Yeah, that's true.
Sebastian
So many careers. When. When you see that passion, you're going to succeed.
Josh Leva
I totally agree, man.
Sebastian
When. When I see people. The other day I was in Murietta and I was at the gas station, and I got. I think I got like an energy drink and like a protein bar. And then the. The lady in the counter was like, would that be it, sweetheart? And then I was like, yeah, how your. How's your bro? It was like 10pm, bro. And she has this energy. Like, she was like kind of yejita vibes, you know, but like some white lady. And she was like, would that be it for today, sir?
Josh Leva
Like, literally.
Sebastian
I was like, are you with me right now? Like, are you like, making fun of me or something? No, she was genuinely so happy to see somebody. Wow. And just to. To. To talk to somebody, she goes, well, you have a phenomenal night. Okay, sweetheart? Along those lines, did you. I. I looked at her straight. Yeah, I did. I looked at her straight in the eye and I said, thank you so much. I really hope that you also have a great night. And then I left. You know, I was like, this lady deserves my eye contact. Yeah. You know, and I went back into the truck and I said, karen, that lady in there, she's a angel, bless her heart. I love people like that. Cuz there's so many people that just. I get it. It's a nine to five. I get it. Things can be hard. I. I get all that. Trust me. I was there as well. But you have no idea what kind of doors you will open if you radiate a type of energy that people see that you actually, with your job.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
You never Know, you know how many times. Because I've always tried to radiate love or, you know, good energy. And you don't know how many times or who's going to walk into those doors and pick you up and help you out.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
And network with you. You never know. And somebody with a higher power than you, it's so easy for them, he or she, to say, hey, you know what? I like you. I like your energy. Let me get your information.
Josh Leva
But, bro, even on a human level, like, what that does for somebody's, like, spirit, you know? So, like, you don't ever know what somebody's going through. And when you just, like, project kindness and love and stuff like that, like, that's infectious.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
People take that with them and you're
Sebastian
gonna get some of that back.
Josh Leva
100.
Sebastian
I can't stand when I know that they hate their job. I can't stand that. Because you know what? I get it. Whatever. You hate it. You know how many people that I know or that I used to know that would die for your job right now that would love to be in a position of being employed? You know what I mean?
Guest
Yeah.
Sebastian
It's just kind of like. Yeah. Especially because I used to be behind, you know, the cashier and stuff like that. I don't know. Anyways.
Josh Leva
No, that's good. No, that's good, bro.
Jess
There's this. When I go to the grocery store, I usually go to Northgate and there's
Sebastian
this senora shout out to North.
Jess
Okay. For real. There's the senora that I will literally go out of my way to get in her line and have her ring me up because, like, she just makes my experience so much better. And next time I'mma tell her because literally, again, I've no disrespect to any of the other ladies, like, I get it, but her, like, I feel like she also lights up when she sees me. And I feel like she's like my Thea or something.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Jess
I don't know.
Josh Leva
But she's a cash register.
Jess
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And every time she's like, hi, Miha, and I'm like, I love you. Yes. Literally.
Sebastian
And like, that lights up your day. Night, afternoon. And it also lights up her night.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
And like, that is what life's about.
Josh Leva
And that's low key, man.
Sebastian
Yeah. Also, if you work somewhere, for example, a Northgate. Right. I just want to say. And this goes with any type of job as well, especially if you want to start moving up in the ladder. What people and the CEOs of these companies or the managers or the owners. Dude, ask questions, tell them your concerns about their brand, their company and they're not going to look at you and say, you know what, you're complaining about my brand. No, they're looking at you and saying, wow, you care about my brand. You care about the things that are going up and when they see and when they sense that you actually care about what's going on from your 9 to 5 or whatever your hours are at. When they know and they sense that you care and you open your mouth and you actually want to make a difference into their company or their brand. That's how you move up. That's how he or she sees. I'm like, okay, I want, I really want her not just working with me, but on my team. That's how people move up in this world. A lot of people, dude, that goes a long way.
Josh Leva
You hit it like right on.
Sebastian
That goes a long way. And I'm sure you, you see this all the time in your brand.
Josh Leva
I just saw it yesterday. I'm not joking. So we hopefully this over. This is somewhat intriguing but like we were.
Sebastian
It is interesting. I think this is super interesting.
Josh Leva
Yeah, we have, we do Tick Tock Shop te right. And we have affiliates that we work with. I think I've told you guys this off camera. And we have some affiliates that kick ass, bro. They're badass. And there's this one specific affiliate, her name is Andrea and she is brilliant. She's one of our top affiliates. But she cares so much and is so passionate about Saluth. Anyways, we, we set up these calls weekly with all our affiliates that are, are under that represent Saluth. And we brought her on as like basically the leader to lead these calls. And yesterday she led her first call
Sebastian
and she killed it.
Josh Leva
Oh my God, bro. I was so moved by her because she was on some like really trying to help these people out to make the most money that they can. Because people can make a killing on Tick Tock Shop.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And she's realized what works for her. She's trying to help other people. But the way she was speaking about the brand and speaking about just it was like it was hers. And I was like, bro, I literally was like fired up on the call. And she was talking about how what's appealing to an audience on TikTok is the visual. Most people are visual, right? So what she does is like she decorates her salud cups. She has like these like really cool glass mason cups. So if she's doing, like, pepino limon. She'll slice up some pepino. She'll put, like, limon Tajin on the rim and straw and, like, all these little things. And, like, she was telling the people on the call that she's like, I want to see you guys decorating your cups. I want to see the chamoy. I want to see the tajin falling off the cup. And I was like, dude, I'm about to go make a drink right now. But you're right. Like, that. That kind of energy, it's infectious, and it really, like, dude, I was like, what else could she. Like, what can I else can I learn from her? What's her perspective?
Sebastian
You don't want her. You don't want her going away from you, right?
Josh Leva
Absolutely. Yeah. You want her around you.
Sebastian
Yeah. And that's just like, a little, like, life lesson that I personally have learned. The older I got, you know, for everybody who's younger than me, which I'm assuming everybody.
Josh Leva
But younger.
Sebastian
Yeah. But, you know, it's. It's those things that sometimes that we are too scared to do, you know, Like.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
Like, especially, like, sometimes our parents. And I'll. You know, I don't. I'll tell you mine. Like, maybe my mom would be like, you know, we've always heard that.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
Yeah. You know, that now there's some things where, you know, maybe we shouldn't. But for the most part, bro, don't be scared. Don't play it safe.
Josh Leva
That's the thing.
Sebastian
Don't play it safe.
Josh Leva
That's good, bro.
Sebastian
What, are they gonna fire you? And then when you get unemployment, they're not you. Yeah, that's good, right? Like, bro, don't play safe. Just. Just speak your mind. Because people, entrepreneurs, people who are successful, speak their own mind.
Josh Leva
Yeah.
Sebastian
And they love to be around people that have their own opinion, you know, that's what makes people successful, honestly. And not only that. When they see that you get respected. And it's the same thing as when you grow up and your mom sees that you say no to whatever she's saying, and she. You know, you feel rebellious, but your plan worked, and now she looks at you like, oh, you independent. Oh, you know what you're talking about. Oh, wow. And that goes also with my. You know, with your wife, with your spouse, with your boyfriend, with your siblings, with your friends. If you say no to something and you say the. And you're. You rebel, and you say something the opposite. No, no, no. This will work. And it actually works. Okay. We'll take your opinions next. You know, it's the same thing. So learn to learn to. To stick up for yourself. Anyways, I'm pumped.
Josh Leva
Let's go.
Guest
So the universe always rewards when you get out of your comfort zone.
Josh Leva
Yeah, absolutely. Time.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
And everything you're looking for is on that other side.
Sebastian
Yeah. And if people don't like it, those people should not be around you. You should always be around people that appreciate your opinion, even if they don't agree with it, but they respect it.
Jess
It.
Josh Leva
So why you hang out with me? I don't respect you at all.
Sebastian
Well, you just said yes to me all the time.
Josh Leva
All right, all right, all right. It.
Sebastian
Yeah.
Josh Leva
It.
Sebastian
Yeah. Every time Josh wants to do something. All right, man. But I think that's all the time we have left for today.
Josh Leva
That was a great episode, man. I hope you guys enjoyed it. Thank you so much for listening. Once again, subscribe to the six week transformation challenge.
Sebastian
We got one more week.
Josh Leva
We got one more week. We're so excited about this. Speaking about passion, this is something we're truly passionate about. And I, I know you guys can feel that from us. This is something that's changed our lives and we just want to bring that opportunity to you guys. We got, we got camera for. Rocking with the challenge as well.
Sebastian
Yeah, Rocking with the challenge.
Josh Leva
And we're gonna, we're gonna revisit this at the end May 11th. It's when it starts with everybody. And then at the end, we're gonna talk about it. We're gonna talk about our experience.
Sebastian
We're gonna continuously talk about it because, you know, even next episode, it's gonna be on and, you know, a lot of people are, are doing it that are watching it. A lot of people. So it's like, why not speak about it? Maybe a little segment. Some like, motivation. Some like, what did you eat today? Some recipes. You know, it has to be, bro. We got to motivate each other.
Jess
Highlights from the chat.
Josh Leva
Yes, highlights from the chat.
Sebastian
Yeah, highlights from the chat.
Josh Leva
That's actually really good. And we'll screenshot moments like that that we can add into the video and stuff like that as well.
Sebastian
And you know, just like I said prior, like, you, you take more out of this than what you think. And I say this out of experience. So I promise you guys, it's not just like the six weeks. It does really, like flip, switch, and rewire. The way that you think about nutrition, it's crazy. I didn't know about it. My dumbass didn't know about it now. I do. And I love talking about it now.
Josh Leva
Me too.
Sebastian
You know, because it's really important. But, yeah, I'm motivated to see you guys. I went to Cheeky's last night, which is super cool. And shout out to her for inviting us. I actually went because I feel like I'm always somebody. Like, yeah, I'll go. And I always forget. But I went. It was so amazing. It was at her house and she's gonna actually. Man, her album is. If you listen to it. If you listen to it and you didn't know she was. And then you listen to her banda stuff. You didn't. You wouldn't think it's the same.
Josh Leva
No way.
Sebastian
No, it's. It's completely different.
Josh Leva
You listen to the whole.
Sebastian
It's amazing. It's the whole album for. It was like 45 minutes and she had a huge projector screen at her house. Amazing catering, by the way. Cheeky's amazing catering. We're smoking weed. And I was. Even though I don't. And it was really cool. She gave us pantun flas. It was outside a little chilly, but, man, it was like. She had like. Like really nice almadas and alfombras. And it was just.
Josh Leva
She created the vibe.
Sebastian
Oh, man, the vibe was there. And she. I think she told me that when she comes out with her album, she'll also come out with the visual album for everybody to see. Man, it's trippy, but beautiful. Wow. Yeah. And it just goes with the music song, if you're. Yeah, that's what we were seeing the whole time. That was like the main attraction. Other than that, just like hanging out.
Josh Leva
When does the album drop?
Sebastian
I believe April 30th.
Jess
Two days.
Sebastian
Two days from Dr. Stron today. So it's already out.
Josh Leva
Wow.
Sebastian
I think you can check it out actually, actually, actually on YouTube now. So look. Look for her new album and the visual thing and to take us. Take a. Sit back and relax and enjoy the video.
Josh Leva
Some weed.
Sebastian
But yeah, it was really cool. What was I saying this? What was I saying this?
Guest
I. I think you just brought it up. Fun facts.
Sebastian
Yeah, but there's a reason why it came to my mind. Anyways, yeah. Enjoy the rest of your guys's week. Like I said, limited spots available. We only have this week. Yeah, enjoy. And guys, follow. Obviously you guys already follow up. We're posting, like, very consistent because we're super passionate about this. We even took Mike to the gym today. We were those guys. Yeah, but it was fun. And honestly, there was a comment that stuck out to us that said, wow, I love this.
Josh Leva
Like, oh, it feels like I hung out with you guys.
Sebastian
We hung out with you guys. So we're gonna try to replicate that as we can. Absolutely. Yeah. So those.
Josh Leva
Okay. Love you guys. Have a great week.
Sebastian
It.
