Welcome back. It's a brand new episode. This is Laugh With Me, a podcast with Jeremy Odom. I'm your host, Jo, and yes, Laugh With Me is a proud team member of the I Heart Radio crew of podcasts. You can find us on the very free I Heart Radio app very soon. We're not there yet. Okay, folks, we're just. We're just so excited. We're not there yet. We're cleaning, you know, we're cleaning up some contractually obligated things. Okay, let's just say that on our end, this is on the. Laugh with me and Johnny. Some of it's your doing. Some of it's my doing. Anyhow, we're cleaning that up, and then, boy, are we storming the the halls of iHeartRadio. Oh, it's gonna be great. Very, very soon. Until then, hey, it's the end of 25. We're wrapping some things up. We're celebrating the year that was. That's what you do in November and December, right? That way, once you get to January, you can have a fresh start to the year, and then you just plow forward. Well, this week we are announcing our 2025 laugh with me podcast Guest of the Year nominations. That's right, John. That's right, Johnny. The 2025 guest of the Year nominees. Now, remember last year? Okay, we did this last year, 2024, we were very proud to award Guest of the Year to one Lovetti Vegas. And boy, has he gone out in 25 and really taken that Guest of the Year award and parlayed that into something special this year. Okay? He's been involved in some pretty unique opportunity. Opportunities. Let's just say he has just recently performed at his very first festival. He's about to perform at another one in Iowa City, Iowa. Okay, that's coming up this weekend. Now. I'd love to plug it. I'd love to say, Vettie, we. We got you. We're gonna plug the festival that you're at this weekend. But unfortunately, Johnny didn't get this information for me before we went. We went to records, so I don't know what to tell you, brother. I'd love to be. I. I just. I just knew off top of my head, oh, it's in Iowa City. So, you know, that's the. The only reason I even. I even bring it up, honestly. But my point is this. Oh, thank you, Johnny. Okay, so the fella, he finally. It's the Floodwater Comedy Festival, okay? It's at the Willow Creek Theater Company. And no, he's going to be there three days at Floodwater. So congratulations to Levetti. My point is, big things can happen, okay? When you are the awarded guest of the year from the Laugh With Me podcast, big things can happen. Levetti is a prime example of where you could go from here. I mean, the. The sky is bright, put the sunglasses on and move forward with your successes. These are. These are very encouraging and very inspiring words. I want these nominees that I'm about to announce to really, really put in their. In their heart, put in their head, put in their mind, and really think about for 2026. Now, the work you've put in coming on this podcast, giving us stories, anecdotes, some. Some of you. Jokes, some of you. Pleads for a pardon. Pleads for a pardon. Johnny, we got people calling in for prison, okay? You've all done an excellent job, and this has proven to be not one, not only successful for the podcast I Heart rating, but is also proven to be successful for you and what is to come in your future. Without further ado, Johnny, let's announce the 2025 laugh with me podcast. Guest of the Year nominees, number one, drum roll, please, sir. He is DEZ Pearson. Now, you know, back in July, okay, back in July, when we had DEZ come on for his very first time, I mean, he was. He's. Well, first of all, if you're not familiar with us, go back and listen to the episode. It's called Des Pearson, all right? He's a very young upcoming content creator, writer, director. You got to go to his YouTube page, okay? @ des d, e, z Score P. It's Pizza Crust Studios. That's where you're gonna find just a catalog of content, and it's hilarious and it's great writing. He's becoming a insane editor. I mean, just put the. Check out the work he's doing, okay? And he's. He's also not just putting in on his own content, all right? He's working very closely with the Des Moines Young Artist Theater in Des Moines, Iowa. He was a part of the SpongeBob musical production that happened at the end of July and August. And he's actually making his acting debut here very soon as a part of Dim Yet. So make sure you go back, you listen to the episode. Here's the thing. He came back. He came back for the 100th episode. Special cameo. We had him and his father in studio. That was a lot of fun, kids. Hilarious. Again, if you haven't checked him out, Des Pearson, that's What the episode's called. Go back and take a listen. And here's, here's just a small clip of what we had from Des.
Des Pearson
All right. So it started when, I think it was like nine or eight. Not the actual channel, but basically I had YouTube on my TV. So I was like, hey, dad, could you set up my YouTube channel on my TV? Because I thought that you could record videos from a tv.
Jo (Host)
So that's what you thought. Yeah, was gonna happen. Okay.
Des Pearson
Like, I thought I could just record Minecraft and get a million followers or something. But no, actually, eventually, in August 2023, I think basically my dad helped me set up my YouTube channel. I got my email and stuff. And yeah, my first ever upload. I know it was a Minecraft video.
Jo (Host)
Yes.
Des Pearson
That's originally what I wanted to do. Be a game.
Jo (Host)
Wanted to be a streamer?
Des Pearson
No, I wanted to be like a gaming channel.
Jo (Host)
That's okay.
Des Pearson
That's it. But, you know, the videos only got like 8, 10 views. You know, I still don't do very well in views, but, you know, it's, it was just Minecraft stuff.
Jo (Host)
Yeah, yeah.
Des Pearson
It was purely unedited most of the time.
Jo (Host)
Just you playing Minecraft, talking while you're playing Minecraft.
Des Pearson
Yeah, yeah.
Jo (Host)
And, and is it, you know, when you're watching, like, YouTubers when they're playing, there's the, like the dual camera where there's you a shot on you playing, and then there's the shot, like, of the screen grab of seeing the game. Was it that or was it literally just you and you were just playing the game?
Des Pearson
I, I, I couldn't figure out how to do that. I think you need like a webcam or something. I mean, I later did figure out how to do that, but I don't use it very much.
Jo (Host)
Right. That's not what you're into now.
Des Pearson
Yeah, but yeah, no, it was just me sometimes talking over the gameplay. You know, if my microphone ever had issues, I would not fix it in poster. It was, it was very amateur.
Jo (Host)
All right, and our next nominee is, well, Des's father, Grant Pearson. Grant comes on the pod every winter and gives us our annual Oscar preview. Here's the thing with Grant, okay? We've been friends a long time. Grant Knight. But here's the thing with him, okay? You know, you get to Oscar season. You know, you roll up to the Academy Awards and you're like, oh, shoot, man, all these movies, they're up for best picture. Oh, man, I should have watched some of them. I should have watched a couple of them. I mean I should watch all of them. Grant watches all of these movies, guys. He watches every single one of the best picture nominees. So he is here to tell you about them to break them down. Also, he watches some of the worst of the worst movies you've ever seen. Not just from the year, but just in general. Alright. So he's got a lot of experience in the movie business. He's actually worked in the movie business. And Grant is back as a two time guest of the year nominee. Here is a clip of Grant Pearson.
Grant Pearson
Would you carry around an egg in your pocket in these days?
Jo (Host)
Well, shoot, I'd be afraid I'd get jumped. I know that's the problem.
Grant Pearson
That's, it's crazy times.
Jo (Host)
Yeah.
Grant Pearson
People and their eggs.
Jo (Host)
Yeah. People. I, I seriously, it's like having Jordans, like when Jordans first came out, you know, Like I, I don't know. If I did have in my pocket, I sure as hell wouldn't want to tell anybody.
Grant Pearson
No, no, yeah. The eggs, you buy them, you put them in the plastic sack, you put them in a paper sack, you put them in one of those door dash type bags. Make sure nobody sees that you have eggs when you're walking through the parking lot.
Jo (Host)
Right. It's almost, it's kind of scary to even go to the grocery store now because people will watch you leave and they wonder if you have eggs.
Grant Pearson
Yeah.
Jo (Host)
And then just kind of stalk you.
Grant Pearson
They come off, they're like, hey, what you got in that bag there? Got any, got any eggs? Dozen, Baker's dozen. Do they come in baker's dozens?
Jo (Host)
They do not. But they sure should. They should.
Grant Pearson
They should. At this point with egg prices going on. Just, just one more egg in there. Just one little like straight carton and a little tip at the end.
Jo (Host)
Eggs are so cool now that the cereal companies are going to start putting one egg in the bottom of the bag as like a free gift to get you to buy cereal.
Grant Pearson
Yeah, that's perfect.
Jo (Host)
And our third nominee, this is Eric Larson. Now you guys mostly know Eric as a guy who pops on the pod quite a bit. Okay. One of my best friends. He is a giant in the transportation industry. He's a former fantasy football champion. In fact, he is a football expert. But here's the thing. He also took a month long vacation in there this year and he called in to tell us all about it, among many other things that he did helping us out here on the pod this year. Uh, big year for Eric Larson. Here is a clip from vacation during.
Eric Larson
The Summer, you see a lot of fundraisers that are car washes where maybe you have the cheerleading team doing a car wash or you have, like, different, you know, college athletes doing car washes or that kind of stuff. You know, what do strippers do during the day?
Jo (Host)
What?
Eric Larson
They just sleep. They get, they get ready for the next night. Like, why don't you open a stripper car wash where, I mean, put these girls to work during the day, get them cleaning up cars. I mean, that's, that's double income. I can't believe nobody's ever thought about that.
Jo (Host)
So that's insane.
Joe Exotic
I.
Eric Larson
You know, I don't know. I guess maybe. Give me your thoughts on the, the stripper car wash. You know, what, what do you think that that could be, you know, what could become of that? But you know, what other opportunities are there for, you know, maybe an underutilized workforce that, you know, could pull a double duty? Anywho, I'll. I'll try to be better. I'll get you another update tomorrow. We'll talk to you later.
Joe Exotic
Bye.
Jo (Host)
Here's the thing, dude. All right? I'm not, like, I'm not against the stripper car wash, okay? I just want to go on the, on the record as saying I'm not against the stripper car wash. Why? What I'm questioning is because it's a theme and I'm not just to say, oh, that's the only kind of cars we have. The strippers. Different, cool car washes would be awesome. Like, themed car washes. Like, where's the rock and roll car wash? You know, where you go in and you get your car wash and there's flashing lights and loud music. That'd be sweet. But anyways, back to Eric's point. And it's not. He's been on vacation too long. If he's at this point where he's saying not only do the strippers need to come up with a car wash business, but they need to also do their normal job at night as well. Like, they need to work around the clock. Why? Why is the workforce out there at such a point now that Eric's solution is strippers need to work more? Why is that the solution, Eric? Oh, Johnny. I'Ll tell you what. Here's a nominee that when we started the year, I thought would be a thing. This is a Netflix star. He is a cultural icon, a he is cemented in pop culture. We received a phone call from prison and some time with our next nominee, the Tiger King, Joe Exotic. Here's a clip.
Joe Exotic
And then on January 20th of this year, that one got denied, so I had to file it again. So now I've got another one in. In the U.S. pardon attorney's office, and it's just a matter of who he picks and chooses.
Jo (Host)
Wow. So then do you have, like, some champions in Washington, like anybody who's a fan of yours?
Joe Exotic
And then it's maybe, you know, I have Congresswoman Lauren Boebert that's out there stomping the pavement for me. And I've got Congressman Eric Burleson, Joe Rogan, Dana White, Matt Gates. I've got, I got. I got some of the biggest names there is, you know, out there shooting for this. But, you know, you know how Trump is. He'll do what he wants when he wants.
Jo (Host)
Oh, absolutely. But you've got his favorites. I mean, you've got the folks that's got his ear.
Joe Exotic
Yeah. And the people that have been, you know, telling me that it's coming are direct friends of Donald junior. So. Okay, you know, who knows?
Jo (Host)
Yeah. I don't know if you remember the movie Beetlejuice, but I know Lauren Boebert's a big fan of Beetlejuice.
Joe Exotic
Oh, yeah.
Jo (Host)
Yeah. You'll have to. If you ever can't get an opportunity to talk to her, ask her About Beetlejuice. Okay, now before we get to our next nominee, I just want to point out Joe is actually calling back into the pod. He is going to be on Live with me next week, so make sure to tune in for that. All right, Our final nominee for Guest of the Year. Okay. He actually this episode and this was fairly recent that we had him on the pod, it was the end of September and it has actually been one of our most listened to episodes of the year. The stories coming out of his. His time living at the place called Park Shitty. I mean that's just, that's what they called it. This, this two level apartment in Council Bloss, Iowa we had. That's just one of the many, many, many stories and we've actually. So one of our friends, he, Cody, he actually texted Bob and I sometime after the pod came out with some fact checks and some bonus stories. So Cody, we're gonna go ahead and need to get all of that on record and get you on here. You can hear this episode titled Nathan. Bob Roberts. This is my good friend Bob Roberts, our final nominee for Guest of the Year. Here's a clip of Bob.
Bob Roberts
Like a few years ago I saw the complex was for sale, like the entire complex because it had been foreclosed on.
Jo (Host)
Yeah, no surprise.
Bob Roberts
I'm like, we should buy it and host the draft there.
Jo (Host)
That would be great.
Bob Roberts
It could be the draft venue.
Jo (Host)
That was a great top 10. I do want to point out I've never seen this before. You had asked for a notebook so you could have your top 10. Yeah. You literally wrote on the notebook the numbers 1 through 10 and that's it. So you were, you were checking off, going down the list, each one you were doing. But you, most people would have a little note of what is at 4, what is at 3. Not. Not Bob, no. You just have the numbers 1 through 10 just to keep you on track.
Bob Roberts
That's right.
Jo (Host)
That's it.
Grant Pearson
That's it.
Jo (Host)
That's incredible. Yeah. Never seen things like it.
Bob Roberts
I always feel like I do my best work without prep for anything.
Jo (Host)
There you go. That's incredible.
Bob Roberts
So maybe I'll show up to my colonoscopy with no prep.
Jo (Host)
No. Oh, geez. And there you have it. That is our 2025 laugh with me podcast Guest of the Year nominees.

This episode celebrates the culmination of the year for the “Laugh with Me” podcast with host Jeremy Odem (referred to as “Jo” in the transcript). Jeremy kicks things off in signature comedic style, reflecting on the past year and introducing the highly anticipated 2025 Guest of the Year nominees. Alongside playful banter and nostalgia, Jeremy highlights the unique stories, contributions, and hilarity provided by the standout guests featured throughout 2025.
Jeremy introduces each nominee with a story or standout moment, interwoven with signature comedic commentary.
[24:41–27:57]
True to the podcast’s ethos, Jeremy Odem (“Jo”) keeps things lively, supportive, and deeply irreverent. Whether he’s previewing the Oscars with Grant, riffing about strippers’ hustle with Eric, or fielding calls from the ever-absurd Joe Exotic, the episode leans hard into good-natured comedy and relatable storytelling. The nominees—each in their own way—embody the show’s commitment to laughter, weird tales, and the sense that truly, “big things can happen” when you find yourself in the Laugh with Me spotlight.
For fans and new listeners alike, this episode is a love letter to the guests that make the show a community—and a fun set-up for the big announcement to come.
