Welcome back to the episode of the LCR Media podcast where you get to know the pros. I'm your host, LCR Nailor Talia Farrow. And recently I talked about the struggle bus of the spring rush. Let's listen in. Well, speaking of the spring spring rush, right? Because we are rushing around. It's super busy. You're busy, I'm busy. Those that are listening and watching are hopefully busy. It's. It's the spring rush. It's a critical time. What's up, bros? It's. It's a critical time, right? The spring rush can either make you or break you. And I just feel like we, a lot of us just go through spring just with our head down, plowing through it. And even if we had a plan when we first started, we don't necessarily stick to the plan, right? We just, it kind of all starts falling apart and it's just one of those things that we don't know what we don't know. And if we don't have, if we don't set it up in such a way that we can be as successful as possible through the spring rush, we'll get crushed by the spring rush, right? I mean, I had a whole, a whole webinar like a month or two ago about how to not get crushed by the spring rush to try and help whoever signed up for that call to give them, you know, some, some tips. Myself, John Pajak, air triplet. We all got on and gave our tips from decades of experience. I have over a decade. They've had decades. So collectively we could share a thing or two about a thing or two and hopefully shorten the learning curve when it comes to the struggle bus of the spring rush. Because like I said, it can make or break you. And for far too long, the spring rush dominated my life. I left corporate, the corporate world, the 9 to 5 corporate world, 12 years ago, and so that I could have a better life and get more time back in my life and, you know, can reconnect with my family and repair my marriage and get, just get my sanity back. I was a really depressed version of myself, like literally depressed shell of myself, didn't recognize myself, like, so I had to like bail out and start over. And this business really helped me solve that. But quickly with the spring rush, it turned into that feeling. Like the spring rush for years and years felt like how I felt in corporate America during like every busy holiday and, you know, crazy weekend sales. It felt exactly the same and it really stressed me out. And year after year after year that compounded. And while it was only one season, the remnants of it kind of lasted all, all summer. Like it kind of took until the end of the year before I kind of got, you know, my, my flow going again and my mojo, if you will. And unfortunately, the people that suffer the most is the people that I was trying to repair the damage from corporate, right, like my wife, my kids. Like, the spring rush was kind of bringing me back to those, those parts that were not desirable of myself. And I'd just be all angry and frustrated and head down. And then when I had employees, is trying not to impact them. And it can just turn into a whole bad scenario that if you as the leader and the business owner, whether you're by yourself or you have cruise, you are still going to interact with someone in your life. Whether if you have a spouse, if you have kids, if you have neighbors, if you go to the store, community, like, just think about that. I mean, you can impact so many people in your life intentionally or unintentionally. So you really need to wrap your head around that. And the more people that you are around, you know, you have employees, you have a spouse, you have kids, you have a big family, neighbors, all that, you can really create a lot of damage. And if you're damaged. So just think about how you can, how you can fix all that and it took some time for me, but I, I definitely figured it out because, I mean, I'm about to go on a two week vacation in a couple of weeks and it's still, I guess would technically be the spring rush, but whatever, I don't know the difference. I. It's my 25th wedding anniversary, so my wife and I are going on a cruise around Europe. So it's going to be a fun time. So. But nothing's going to skip a beat on my end here. We're still going to keep rolling because I set my business up in such a way that I don't have to worry about that, so. But it took some time for sure. Carson Hoffman says, what are the mental blocks that allowed you to overcome the overwhelming workload you may experience during the spring rush? Yeah, that's great. Well, a couple of things I'm glad, I'm glad someone asked this. The first and foremost thing is I had to focus on creating boundaries. Boundaries in my schedule and boundaries in my bank account because you can easily bleed your money. Your bank account's dry in the spring rush because it's so busy and you need this, you need that. This is breaking, that's breaking. You're hiring this person, that person. You got all these leads coming in and if you don't have a system in place to help you kind of organize all that, you don't know what you're spending, when you're spending, where you're spending it, how much you're spending all that as well as your time. Like your schedule is just a mess and you're working all day every day and you think, well, we gotta hustle and grind, right? That's what everybody says, you know, and it's the spring, get it while you can. And I get all that, I get it. But I will tell you one thing nobody will say on their deathbed, I wish I hustle and grinded more. What you will wish is. What you'll say is I wish I had more time, right? I wish I said this or said that or did this or did that. I wish I didn't do this or do that. So I know that's kind of like an end game thought, but many people have said stuff like that and it makes, it puts things into perspective. And for me, like I said, I came from corporate 9 to 5 work. And so that was my advantage, right? I was depressed and miserable and I had to get my life back. So I just kind of figured these things out as quickly as possible. But the biggest thing was creating boundaries like, for example, not not working past six or not not starting a job past six. So like, say we have a big, you know, we're doing a mulch job, we start in the afternoon and it's. It's just taken forever and we don't get done till 6:30 or something. That's. That's fine. But I'm not going to start something after six, right? If, even if it's just a lawn that's going to take 30 minutes. Like, nope, no, we're not going to start at 6. So this was a boundary. It's this way I could be home and my team could be home at a reasonable time with their family. It is the spring, we are working more, it's raining. There's all kinds of things going on that interrupt the flow of your schedule. But if you don't have some boundaries like that, for many examples that, for one of many examples that is going to just your schedule will own you instead of you owning it. Back to the hustle and grind. What the. The one realization I had is time is not the same as money. So when people say time is money, come on, we gotta go. Time is money. Time is money. That's literally the biggest, that's the most expense biggest and most expensive lie that you ever buy. Why? Why is that? Because you can always make money, but you can never make time. Ever. No one can make time. Time cannot be created. It exists, right? We. We exist in space and time, right? Space is the planet which we have. No. Which we have minimal control over. And time is what we are, what we navigate through, right? Everyone has the same 24 hours in the day. The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours. They might not have the same skills, they might not have the same mindset, they might not have the same tools, but they all have the same access to 24 hours because it's free. We all have. Time is here. No one owns the time. They might own your time, but they don't own time. So are you going to. So time is always being assigned. Like, it just goes right? It's just constantly flowing and we're just going along for the ride. So it's always being assigned. But the, do you want to, do you want to be assigned by default or by design? So do you want your time just be assigned just on its own, like, for, like, you know, you wake up and you go on your phone and you're checking notifications in an hour, hours gone out of your day. And you weren't intentional. You didn't design your time properly versus getting up and having a specific routine that you're going to do that is, you know, designing your time or assigning your time by design instead of it just being by default. So when you wrap your head around that and you start prioritizing your time, you start charging more because, you know, you're worth more, your time is worth more, and you start putting boundaries around your schedule. I'm not going to work all day every day. I'm not going to take on every job everywhere. I'm going to be home for dinner. I'm not going to work every weekend. I'm not going to stress myself out. So creating boundaries was really the biggest way for me to get a handle on all of this. And then everything changed. And it seems like, you know, okay, there's a lot of people working like crazy and you think, well, maybe that's what I need to do. Maybe I need to charge this, maybe I need to do that. Maybe I need to work all day every day. But you're not them, and you don't know their situation. Focus on you and your situation and your time, and you're still going to make money. Trust me, you're going to usually make more money when you have boundaries, when you have, you know, how, how much time, you know, you're, you're, you're how much money you're making and how much money you're spending and where, and then how much time you're taking to do everything. So that's, you know, without going too crazy down rabbit holes. That's, hopefully that helps answer that question. CARSON but it's essentially creating boundaries for your time and your money. So I've been focusing a lot on the spring rush, before the spring rush, during the spring rush, potentially after the spring rush. But right now, we're all at the time of recording this real time anyway. We're all in the spring rush. So hopefully you are, you know, listening to the things that myself and My guests are saying, and hopefully it's creating or adding some value to you. I know it's busy and you might be in the thick of it and, and you feel like there's, it's hard for you to make any adjustments or changes right now. And maybe you can't even listen to these episodes in, in one shot because you're so busy. But that's why I've been trying to make them a little shorter and sweeter as well during this busy time for all of us, myself included. I have a lot going on, on my plate personally and professionally as well. But I always want to find ways to keep getting this value out for all of you, especially deep in the, in the, in the spring rush season so that we're not, you know, waiting, like why, why hold off on this stuff? So whatever I can get out there and bits and pieces of value for you, I hope it's all adding up because I've been really focusing on, on information for the spring rush and being profitable and setting boundaries and assigning your time by design instead of default, so forth and so on. But so with that being said, hopefully, like I said, you, you enjoyed all that. The the Profit Accelerator Live event is coming up in June 26th and 27th. Faster and faster than, than you might think. So make sure you get your spot. It's right here in Richmond, Virginia. It's going to be a good two days, a great two days of learning, a good two days. Hopefully, weather wise, it's, it's beautiful time of year here in Richmond, Virginia. But those of you that are close enough within driving distance definitely is an opportunity for you to come by. I mean, of course, if you, if you're further away and you want to fly in 100%, you know, there's an international airport here, Richmond, Virginia. We'd love to welcome you. And the link for that is in the episode description. So. And that's kind of a way for all this to come together and we can all come together and, and celebrate each other as well as focus on what can we do. You know, like I said, to finish the second half of the year stronger. So all the information is in the episode description there if you want a quick, quick click, clickable link there for that. So any other resources that I mentioned as well, and the Toro Company as well links in the episode description. So and as always, thank you to the company for sponsoring the LCR Media podcast and thank all of you for continuously listening, even through the busy season. I mean, I'm sure it'll ramp up with more time to listen as you're working and driving around for sure, versus the winter. But so I want to get as much value as possible as I can. But regardless of when you listen and how you listen, how often you listen, I appreciate you listening. So hopefully I will see you soon in an upcoming event until that time comes.
