Hi everyone. Welcome back to another episode of let's Get Dressed. It's your host Liv Perez. We are back with another one of mine and your guys favorite series. Today I'm going to be covering all things spring dressing. I feel like if there's anybody who is most like primed to talk about spring dressing, it's probably someone like me who lives in LA. We are constantly in basically spring weather. It is 70 degrees and sunny every single day. Maybe it drops to the low 60s, high 50s at night. I'm usually always in like a pant and a great jacket and loafers. My coat rack sits there lonely, never really touched. I'm perpetually in spring weather. So I'm very excited to take you guys through some things that I'm really excited to wear this season. Not just things that I think are quintessential spring moments, but then also things that I've seen. As we're in the midst of Fashion Month right now. Every brand is showing new collections, there.
Co-Host
Are new trends, new fun moments that.
Liv Perez
Are coming up that I think would be really fun to add to all of our wardrobes. As always, if you guys are looking to shop this episode, go to the description of the episode. Today there is a shop my link and if you click that you will see in my main profile page spring must haves. Everything is linked there in case I'm talking too fast which usually happens or I mumble something or you didn't quite catch the brand name. Everything I'm talking about will be there linked for you guys. Okay, let's kick it off. I want to start with I think my favorite styling fashion moment right now that was really prominent during New York Fashion Week as multiple brands had used pins and brooches as a styling moment. There's something about a pin that really allows you to share a story or who you are in just a single item of clothing. I love them because they are incredible conversation starters. Maybe you have one from your mom or your grandma and someone asks about it, and it's immediately a story that lets someone get to know you way faster. So I'm really here for the brooch pin revival. One of the brands I saw it at that I loved was Tory Burch. They used pins not only as just an embellishment on dresses and jackets, but also actually as a styling mechanism. For example, I saw it on one look that was a pant and a knit top and the model had a sweater draped around her shoulders as we do. We love a sweater around our shoulders, but the pin was actually used to fasten the two sleeves together. I absolutely loved this. I think it's very different and fun. If you actually go on my Instagram right now, you'll see I just posted a video with some spring outfits I can't wait to wear, and one of them featured a really similar styling. If you're looking for some reference photos, highly recommend following me on substack because I post a lot of moments from shows and there's a lot of great ideas in there. If you're not into that because it feels a little too editorial for you, I would just fasten it to the lapel of a blazer or even the bust of a dress like they also.

Did at Tory Burch and I thought was really beautiful. Another way I really love to see it that I've actually been seeing a lot on TikTok recently is putting a pin or a brooch in kind of the corner of a sweater and bunching.
Liv Perez
The sweater together via through the brooch or the pin. I think that is also a really beautiful way to add a different shape to just a simple sweater. There are a few that I love.
Co-Host
Out there in the world.
Liv Perez
One of them that is under $100. Heaven Mayhem has a twist. Skinny brooch right now that looks like a half circle. You can put it at the top of a tank top, you can put it at the bottom of a sweater. They have it in silver and gold and they also have an oval shaped one as well. So those are really great. Kind of low lift cost wise ones to get. If you're not 100% committed and you just want to try it out. I have one from Laura Piana that I love. That's $350. That one's more of a pin versus a traditional brooch. It's called the Cardo pin. It kind of looks like a thimble. Very discreet, but a really cool accessory to add to your wardrobe. And. And then if you really want to splurge, I would actually go onto the RealReal and find some of the vintage ones. There was a Schiaparelli one that I loved so much. It was this beautiful gold dove, and it was about $600. But now I'm looking and I can see other ones that are quite similar. And I'm seeing a gorgeous one from Tiffany and company, an insane one from Chanel. I will add some of my favorites to the shop. My okay, moving on. Next to what I think is undoubtedly the color of the season, like a baby ice blue. I've seen it on the red carpet a lot through awards season. Nicola Coughlin from Bridgerton wore this gorgeous ice blue dress to the SAG Awards. And then Sabrina Carpenter looked absolutely beautiful in that, like, icy blue dress that she wore to the Grammys. So it's definitely been on my radar this year during award season. Now, I know blue, specifically baby blue, can feel like a hard color to style, especially if you are someone who's a little bit color shy. So here are the colors that I usually love to pair with baby blue. For starters, if you're someone again, who is color shy and you're used to like a black pant, a black boot, I would just throw in a great baby blue sweater. It will look so great paired with all black and just having that be your accent color. If you're a little bit more color brave, I really recommend pairing it with either yellow or brown. Yellow. For example, you could be wearing blue jeans, a baby blue cardigan, and a yellow beige ish trench coat. That would work and look so, so great. I also love it with browns. Again, if you go back to my Instagram, that video that I posted today about some of my favorite spring looks, I paired a blue trench coat that I have with a pair of brown pants that I love and a white tee. And I loved the color combo so much. There are a few places that I love for baby blue things right now. One of them is Enzacosta. They have a cashmere long sleeve that is that perfect icy blue. It's available on Revolve and it's around $350. And then there's also one that I love from Aritzia called the Wilfred Go cardigan. It has a beautiful boat neck and it's actually cinched at the waist. And I think it would be one of those pieces that would just be so effortlessly cool over black pants. And that one is under $150. So a pretty good steal. Speaking of great colors, my third item is not necessarily an item, but more so a concept that I'm seeing so much of right now and has given me so much inspiration. It's bold color combinations in fashion. As you guys know, I'm kind of substack obsessed right now. I've been posting on there weekly. I found so many cool creatives on there that are inspiring my everyday fashion. If you're not on there, I cannot recommend it enough. Also, go shoot me a follow. But there's a creator on there. Her name is Taylor Deddo. I think that's how you pronounce her last name. Her account is at the September 18th and she has a series called Good Pairings. When I tell you guys that this is like my current hyper fixation, it's all I can think about. I'm obsessed with it. Every time she posts something new, it's essentially a visual diary of beautiful color pairings that she collects over time. It is so aesthetically pleasing and so visually inspiring that as we're walking into spring and excited about wearing color and bringing that back into our wardrobe, I can't recommend you guys check it out enough. I've been loving this account just because it's been pushing me out of my comfort zone a little bit and getting me excited to incorporate color again. I would say my favorite color combo that she's been posting lately that I will be wearing all spring is like a pale green, almost like a minty sage with yellow. I actually wore it in the video I was talking about on Instagram today, and it just made me feel really happy and it made me feel very, very ready for spring. I paired it with white shoes and a white bag, and I absolutely loved this outfit. Moving right along. Obviously, I'd be remiss if I didn't bring up Chloe and the impact of the brand on spring dressing. Chloe is known for its boho chic kind of free, caring aesthetic, lots of, like, wavy hair and fringe. And I think since the brand has brought in a new creative director and released its new collections, everyone is embracing Chloe boho chic style again. Which is why I am not surprised that I have seen so many flowy kind of Chloe style tops for spring. I love these tops because a lot of them are ruffly, a lot of them are chiffon. As you move, this shirt moves with you. And there's something so romantic and feminine about this style of top and look. Some of these are like really extravagant ruffles everywhere. If that's not your speed, it's most certainly not mine. You can find something that's a little Bit more delicate. So there's a really wide variety to go here. Obviously, if you want to splurge, Cloe makes the best ones. But I actually really love all the roughly flowy tops from Doan. We've talked about Doan a lot on this pod. I love this brand. Obviously, being a California girl, it's truly the ultimate brand for someone who lives by the beach. And it's a little bit more laid back style. They have a top called the Henry top that is very on brand with this like, Chloe in motion era that I think we're in. It comes in so many different colors. This beautiful yellow that I love. Pink, white, literally something for everybody. It kind of reminds me a little bit of like old Victorian style, but I think it's a good entryway if you want to engage in something that's really popular in fashion right now without having to feel like it's this like new thing that maybe doesn't feel comfortable for you. I would pair it with your favorite pair of jeans and a pair of flats for daytime. Since the shirt is usually so ornate, I would let the shirt do all of the talking. I remember Mango actually did a collection last year that was kind of a dupe on Chloe. And if you do want a Chloe kind of ruffle long sleeve top but don't want to pay the price tag, the ones from Mango are actually still available on Nordstrom right now. And of course they're in the shop. My there's like a beautiful pink kind of flowy top. It's under $150. And honestly, good bang for your buck. This is pretty identical to, I feel like what we see on the Chloe Runway. I am really loving the resurgence of the Chloe feminine, laid back, carefree style back in fashion again. I really love how spirited and romantic it feels. But like more than anything, I love how joyful it feels. It feels really fun and laid back and not so serious. And that to me, is a breath of fresh air in fashion right now. The next piece that I've been seeing a lot of in fashion, and I feel like we usually see it come around in peak summer, but this time I'm seeing it a bit earlier and a bit more aesthetic driven than just a single piece is stripes. And not just stripes for the sake of, you know, a striped sweater in the summer. I'm seeing stripes in a lot of different ways. For example, Helsa came out with her new collection about a month ago and it featured a lot of striped suiting, like a striped knee length skirt with a Matching striped blazer and even kind of pajama style silk striped pants that are more laid back and casual. That's one way I'm seeing it. The other way I'm seeing it is a lot of nautical inspired fashion out there in the world right now. I'm definitely not here co signing like sailor chic. That's definitely not something I'm gonna say. Again, I'm not someone who's really into micro trends. I feel like last year reformation came out with those amazing striped long sleeve kind of baggy shirts and I saw them all over my Instagram and TikTok. It was very Mew mew inspired. Like that red and blue striped top with the giant kind of, you know, washed out brown leather jacket over it and a jean and a loafer. Very, very Mimi inspired. And I feel like that's really stuck around. As I mentioned, I'm loving the stripes from Halsa. I think she's doing it in a very chic way. And that reformation top is still for sale too, I still think really cute for the wardrobe. I've been loving a big kind of oversized striped sweater lately. The go to striped item for me in my closet has to be the Jenny Kane Chloe crewneck. You guys know I am such a huge fan of Jenny Kane, and I actually have been for a very long time. I actually think it was one of the first brands that I really became like obsessed with as a teenager. I remember I used to beg my mom to take me to the store and buy me the D'Orsay flats. If you guys remember those from back in the day, they still live rent free in my mind. I think that they, like, they were so formative for young fashion me and, and today I'm truly still the biggest fan. I have so many of their sweaters in my closet. I think literally 90% of my knitwear is from Jenny Kane. And it's because all of their pieces are so classic and elevated and pieces that I know will live in my closet for a long time. As I mentioned before, I love that Cloe sweater. It just feels like that quintessential laid back, effortless sweater that you can throw on with anything. You can wear it in the winter with a pair of black pants and a coat over it. I specifically love it in the spring summer because those stripes just kind of ooze the summer season to me. I wore it all last summer to the beach. It actually became my official beach sweater. Like it was in my beach bag the entire summer because of course, it just looks perfect. On the beach, I have the classic black and white stripe, but they have so many other options. You can do brown and white. You can do beige and blue, navy. They have so many options. So there's really something for everybody. I get so much of my spring uniform at Jenny Kane and special treat just for you guys. You'll get 15% off your first order when you use the code LIVE. L I V. That's a specific code for my podcast listeners at checkout. 15% off your first order, guys. Jenny kane.com j e n n I k a y n e.com using the code live. Moving right along, There is one piece that I think is the quintessential spring wardrobe piece that I say every single season. To me, it never changes. And it's the trench coat. The trench truly is the unofficial hero of spring dressing. It is the best transitional piece. It's great for cooler weather. You can layer underneath. It's great. If the weather's a little bit warmer, you can wear a T shirt underneath. I think everybody needs a perfect go to grab on the go trench in their closet at all times. Because I am so passionate about the trench. I've tried so many of them for you guys to be able to tell.
Co-Host
You which ones I think are the best ones. Because there's a lot that goes into the making of a trench. The fit, the belt, the lapels, and even, like, the shade of beige is really important to me. So I have a ton of options for you guys to shop from. I'm going to start out by telling you my favorite trench. It's a bit of a splurge, but I wear it so often, and I think the construction of it is impeccable. It is the Mimchik trench coat. It's available on forward. It's $985. There's something about the way that they.
Liv Perez
Built this trench that makes me feel like a British cutie.
Co-Host
It is so perfect. The waistband is thick, so it gives you an amazing silhouette if you want to wear it closed over a pair of jeans. The buttons are a beautiful brown tortoise, and that makes a big difference. It makes it look ten times more elevated. And there's an incredible detailing on the bust. The cuffs are belted, which I love, and they have epaulettes. It's a drape around the shoulders that really adds a lot of shape and style to the jacket. I'm obsessed with this trench again. I had like five in my closet at one point because I was testing so many of them and the one that I continued to grab the most was this Mimchik trench. I also love that it's not super beige. Beige is really not my color, guys.
Liv Perez
It washes me out so much.
Co-Host
So I love that this is a little bit lighter toned. My next one under that would be the Reformation Mateo trench. That one is $368. This is a great trench. It's a little bit lighter and a little bit less structured than the Mimchik one. So a little bit more of like a softer kind of more free flowing trench. I also like this one because it's not kind of a yellow beige. It's a little bit more of an olivey beige. So again, if you're paying attention to the coloring, I think the Reformation does a really good job of kind of keeping it warm. This one also has those great tortoisey buttons and a waist belt. A really good option if you are looking for quality with not a high price tag. And then the first trench show I actually ever got was from Gap. I still have it. I've had it for two years.
Liv Perez
It's under $150. It is a khaki tan.
Co-Host
They have it on the website right now. This one is a great starter trench. If you're still kind of figuring out your style with a trench, I would say it's not as long as the other two. It's right below the knee. It's a great option with honestly great.
Liv Perez
Quality for a starter trench.
Co-Host
I literally would have a trench in.
Liv Perez
Every color if I could.
Co-Host
I love the trench. It makes me feel so put together, so good. Usually when I travel honestly, I'll wear my cotton set with a trench coat over it because I love how refined I look while still being really comfortable and not having to wear a super heavy coat. Next up is the shoe of the season.
Liv Perez
And I actually loved coming up with this one because I. I actually was.
Co-Host
Scrolling TikTok the other day and came.
Liv Perez
Across a girl's post. She was saying, ladies, what are we wearing right now? That is not a chunky boot. It's not a sneaker.
Co-Host
It's not a flat.
Liv Perez
Like, I'm going to the bar with my friends and I want to look cute. And that is a really good kitten heel. Tis the season. I feel like spring is the season.
Co-Host
Where we want to whip those out.
Liv Perez
We're so excited. We've been in boots and knee high boots and all the things that it's like the perfect time to kind of bring out that little umph of a heel. That is comfortable, but also feels dressed up, light, and fun. Now I am 31 years old with a back problem, and if I could be in a kitten heel for the rest of my life, I absolutely would. They are so comfortable, and they give you a little bit of that height without having to sacrifice being uncomfortable all day long. Right now, I have my eye on a pair from Tony Bianco that I love. They are the cherry pump in liqueur. It's a slip on kitten heel. It's leather, pointed toe. Kind of looks like a pointed toe, flat, but with a heel, which I love. That is so my silhouette. It's in this beautiful chocolaty liqueur brown that is just so chic. I know. It comes in white as well. Brides, if you're looking for something low, that's a really good one. $150 and so chic. I love a kitten heel for so many reasons. It's like low effort, high impact, and honestly, it goes with everything in your wardrobe. It's not even something you have to double think about styling, even if you're someone who works from home. I often put on my kitten heels to walk around the house and work because it just makes me feel elevated and put together and obviously doesn't feel like you're in heels. If you guys follow me on Instagram, you know that I am obsessed with my Tory Burch pierced slingback heels. I think they're so cool. They add so much to any look, and they have them in black and this kind of beautiful tan, olivey tan color as well. These have really just become my go tos again for those work from home days where I just want to look cool and put together. I think that the Tory Burch Pierce is just so fun and innovative, and I will never get tired of these heels. They're on sale right now too, guys. They're 280 on their website, so go check them out. I love these heels, and the heel is kind of funky. It's a very sculptural heel. It kind of looks like it's bending backwards. I don't know. Every time I've worn them, people have been like, whoa, those are so cool. I've been wearing them for over a year. They're never gonna get old for me. And they're a great kitten heel. One thing that I'm seeing a lot actually, in the kitten heel space is a wedge kitten heel. I've seen it at Totem. I've seen it at Alaia. I'm really loving it. I'm not a wedge girl. You'll never see me in, like, a full wedge heel ever in my life. But I do think a kitten heel wedge is pretty chic. I need to try them on and, like, see if they're heavy. Report back. Next up, I've been seeing a lot of capris lately. I am not a Capri girl. I just don't know if I could do it. I think I feel too underdressed. But as a natural evolution to the Capri, I'm loving a cigarette pant for spring. I've been itching for one, like, scouring the Internet for the perfect one, and I think I've found a few that I love. I love my tailored trousers. I love my jeans. But sometimes I want a tailored pant that hits right at the ankle that I can wear with my kitten heels and a fabulous coat. It's not something I had in my closet before, but I think that they are the ultimate spring pant that just feels fresh and light. It's not a skinny jean, guys. Let's just be clear. It's not a skinny jean. Maybe we're making our way there. I don't really know by telling you guys about a cigarette pant, but I think a cigarette pant is 10 times chicer than a skinny jean. And if we're doing skinny anything, let it be a skinny, skinny, tailored, gorgeous trouser. I really love the pair from Legiance. They're under $400 and are high quality, something you'll have in your closet a lot. Also, for those of you who work in the office, these would probably be perfect for office life. I also really like the pair from Favorite Daughter, and clearly a lot of people do as well because they're almost sold out on the website. You can find them on Revolve, though. These are 250 and also look like a great option. Very like Victoria Beckham inspired. You know, let's talk about jewelry that we're wearing for spring. Last year, we saw the rise in really chunky jewelry. Like the Elsa Peretti Tiffany cuff came back in full swing. I saw a lot of bangles, chunky rings, and big necklaces, which is why I'm not surprised that at the beginning of this year, I felt the urge to take out all of my dainty earrings. I have five in one ear, four in the other. And these are the earrings that I keep in my ear all day, every day. I never take them out, but for some reason, I felt like they just weren't working with where I was at stylistically. Guys, I posted this during an ama and I actually got a lot of heat. People were like, whoa, like, dainty earrings forever. Yes, obviously dainty earrings forever. But right now I'm just feeling jewelry that feels a little bit more like a statement. I think we're still in Cuffland, so if you have your bracelet cuffs, keep wearing them. I've actually seen a lot of stacked cuffs and stacked bangles, so I think that will be fun for spring. But I'm really loving chunky earrings right now. I've been wearing this beautiful kind of chunky silver ear cuff every day, and it just feels like an adornment to my outfit versus just my dainty earrings that I wear every day. I'm loving kind of the shimmer coming out of my ear. I'm loving how edgy it kind of feels. It all feels really sculptural and intentional. And on the flip side of that, if I'm not wearing something that feels that way, I. I'm wearing nothing. What a time to be alive. Very weird. A lot of my go to jewelry places. You guys know I love Eleu. That's where the cuff that I've been wearing a lot of recently. I also love Heaven Mayhem for jewelry on a steal. And if you're looking for something a little bit more interesting. Completed works has always been my go to for interesting, gorgeous handcrafted jewelry. They have the most beautiful pearl pieces, and their new collection is really to die for. Again, they have a lot of sculptural pieces, like a black onyx necklace, these gold vermeil, kind of recycled. It looks like a can has been smashed. Earring, bold colors like a red and a pink resin earring. So many great options here. And these are all between, I'd say like 250 and 500, but pieces you'll have forever. And then last but not least, another trend that I saw from New York Fashion Week that I loved, that I'm very excited for for this summer. Fringe. Usually when I think of fringe, I think of very thick kind of western inspired fringe. But this season's fringe felt way more delicate and feminine, kind of in the same vein as the Chloe top. Very delicate, very romantic kind of as you move, it moves with you. I saw it at a few different shows form the brand with two Fs. 16 Arlington, Bodhi and so many others had this beautiful kind of like angel hair. Fringe is what I like to call it. It's so light and beautiful. I think this will be the perfect, fun fashion moment to include in your spring and Summer dressing, especially when it comes to buying dresses or skirts. I would really keep an eye out for dresses that exude movement because clearly I think that's what fashion is loving right now. For all my fellow brides out there, especially beach brides, there is a fringe skirt and long sleeve knit set from Paris, Georgia that is so chic and would be perfect over a bikini for a wedding. And I love the fringe details on the end and also on the top. It's just so, so chic and so cute. So definitely consider that. But the way I'm really excited about it right now, and we'll definitely be styling it this spring as the weather is still cooler. I love fringe on a dress with like a big coat paired over it and you can just see the fringe kind of moving underneath the coat. That's the way I saw it on a lot of the runways this season. And I think it's so chic and so effortless, but just a fun pop of something in your wardrobe that feels different and really exciting. I'm really loving this one set from Zara right now. It's the asymmetric fringe skirt that comes with a matching top. The top is cream, has a little bit of a funnel look. I love it paired with a cuff and a trench over it. I think it would be so chic and so beautiful. And again, the fringe is not meant to be overwhelming. It's just a little added bonus that adds some movement into your wardrobe. To me, it feels like an over exaggerated raw hem. It's between a fringe and a raw hem. But I love how delicate and beautiful it looks. I'm so excited to be dressing for spring right now. I can't even tell you. When I was putting together the video that I put on Instagram today. It took me like four hours. Cause I was going through my closet just trying on all these things and just feeling so excited. I think now more than ever, my biggest takeaway from Fashion Week this year was feeling a sense of maximalism back into fashion. More prints, more colors, and more bold choices. And I'm so excited about that right now. It's a way that I love to dress and feel so inspired by when I see it out in the world. So I think this spring and summer is going to be very fun. Again, as I mentioned, you guys can find everything I talked about in today's episode at my shop. My Plus a ton more spring options for all of your spring shopping needs. As always, my DMs are open. Send me your looks if you need advice on styling. I'm always here for you guys. You know, I do my AMAS on the weekend where you guys can submit any questions, and I'm so happy to help in any way.
