Hi, everyone. Welcome back to another episode of let's get Dressed. It's your host, Lyth Perez. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I just got back from a week long trip in Paris for Paris Fashion Week. This definitely was one of my favorite trips yet for a lot of reasons. One, I swear, if you're in Paris and the sun is out the entire time you're there, you've basically won the lottery. Every time I've been there, it's rained and been really overcast and cold and. And while Paris is beautiful always, and it's always just the best city to be in, it's particularly hard to be there for work when it's that climate. Whether you're shooting content outside or going to shows and you've got your hair and makeup done, just the weather and the rain and the dampness just makes things particularly difficult. So this trip was truly just the best. It was such a great week. Everyone was in a great mood. The sun was out. It was like 60 degrees every day. I didn't wear any, any of the coats that I brought. Everyone was outside and it was just a 10 out of 10 trip, obviously, the sun being one part, but the other part was that I got to be there for Fashion Week and see so many shows and so many collections and designers that I love. I got to sit at Stella McCartney and Acne Dior, Christopher Esber, Elie Saab and Victoria Beckham, and of course, watched from afar at so many others. And Paris to me has always been the week where I walk away feeling the most inspired. Because the fashion in Paris, the way people get dressed every day and the way that collections are shown just feels so different to me than any other season. I always walk away with the most inspiration, whether it's from people that I see walking down the street while I'm sitting at a cafe, or of course, watching some of the biggest brands in the world. So if you've been a longtime Follower of the podcast. You know, I love to do this episode today. I want to talk through a few different styling tips and tricks that I saw in the fashion capital of the world and get to bring them back and share them with you. With spring right around the corner, perfect time to be thinking about maybe a spring wardrobe refresh or even just trying something different in your everyday style. So if you are that person, you've come to the right place and this episode is for you. I know that sometimes talking about fashion in an audible format can be challenging. So if you want a bit more of a visual format, I did post a few pictures from Paris Fashion Week from the runways that I was most inspired by. And there are some of the moments that I'm talking about here in this episode there. So you can always go to my Instagram and I will be sharing some visual aspects to today's episode to get you inspired. Okay, let's start with the first one, and that is belted coats. I feel like I've seen this everywhere. I tried it myself while I was in Paris. But I want to take you guys back to January of 2025, a little bit earlier this year, where there was an image of a style influencer, I believe, at Copenhagen Fashion Week. She was walking street style outside of a show, and she was wearing a kind of aubergine burgundy colored coat and had like four belts layered on top of it. Now, quickly, before we dive into this more, I know that we're going into spring, so you're like, liv, you're giving us like a coat situation. But yes, I actually am, because I feel like there's a wide variety of ways that you can do this. One, you can belt a trench coat, something a little bit lighter. But two, actually, while I was in Paris, I wore a coat and belted it, wore knee high tights and I think like a tank top underneath it. And the coat was just kind of like my dress. So for those nights for like the next few months where it's still a little bit cool, I'm not telling you to wear like a Sherpa coat or like anything really heavy, but even if you just have a beautiful black coat that is maybe a little bit thinner, that could double as a dress, it's still a good opportunity to try this styling moment. So back to this girl that I saw in Copenhagen. It was so wonderfully styled. And I think what was most unique about it was that she was wearing like multiple different belts. Like, it wasn't the same skinny black belt three different times. They all had, like, a vintage kind of feel to them, and it made that look feel so unique. Honestly, I love wearing a coat as a dress. Sometimes I feel like it's just such a statement piece. I wore a coat to the Tory Burch show as a dress, and it was actually the outfit that I twinned with Martha Stewart on. If you guys saw that on my TikTok, I literally was wearing this, like, brown sequiny coat as a dress to the show. I turn to my left, and who do I see, like, coming in the double glass doors of the moma. Martha Stewart wearing it as a coat with, like, an all white kind of suit underneath it. She walks. I don't know what chutzpah I had in this moment. I literally pointed at her and was like, twins. And she was like, oh, my God, like, we should have gotten ready together. And she was like, are you wearing it as a dress? I was like, yeah, I would change and, like, let you wear this coat. Like, I'm naked underneath. And she was like, great. So we're all aligned on wearing coats as dresses, guys. Martha Stewart approved. Loved seeing it in Copenhagen, and I also loved seeing it at the Fendi show, which wasn't in Paris, so I'm cheating a little bit. It was in Milan. The Fendi show was actually my favorite show of the whole season. I really, really, really love this show. And they showed a series of wool coats with beautiful embellishments on the shoulder and then just, like, a thin little belt to give a little bit of shape to the coat. Loved it. Got so much style inspiration from this, and during these kind of last licks of cold weather, you bet I'm gonna be doing that. In general, I feel like I've been talking about how belts are having a major renaissance in the past year. I feel like whether it's through the rise of, like, oram Collective and St. Laurent's Accessory Collection, belts are, like, really having their moment. I, like, can't leave the house without wearing one now. It's crazy. What was I doing before? I honestly must have felt so naked. But obviously, belts are so great for shape silhouette. You can completely change an outfit with a belt. So I love seeing it as kind of this shape moment for coats. And I also loved at Issey Miyake, there was a look that went down the Runway that was a pair of slacks with two belt loopholes so you could have a double belt. And that I absolutely love, too. I feel like that, to me, is a whole outfit, like, wearing a pair of pants with double Belt loops, a tank, and a matching blazer is so effortlessly chic and so cool. So belts are having the moment. They're everywhere. Definitely keep your eye for cool, fun ones that you can add to your wardrobe that feel like you. I always recommend, obviously, having, like, the whole gamut. Like, have a great brown one, have a great black one that you love. But right now, I would say try and find those ones that feel a little bit unique. Like, what's a belt that works with your wardrobe that really feels like your personality? It's like a black bag, right? Like, your go to black bag and my go to black bag are two different things. So think of it the same way with belts. Okay, Moving right along. We've talked about this numerous times, but I'd be remiss if I didn't bring it up. And that is the brooch. I feel like I'm seeing brooches and pins everywhere. This season is all about big brooch energy, 100%. Like, I feel like anytime I'm getting dressed right now, I'm like, ooh, how can I incorporate this really cool moment into what I'm wearing? I've loved it styled either on the lapel of a blazer. I feel like that's a really easy way to incorporate it. But another way that I've loved seeing it is cinching the fabric of a sweater or a top to create a new shape. So maybe you're wearing an oversized sweater with a skirt, and you want to just add a little bit of cinching to the side or maybe your waist area. A brooch is a great way to do that. To me, the brooch feels kind of like this natural evolution of the bag charm. I think we're loving these big motifs in our wardrobe, these moments where we can show off our personal style. And there were brooches everywhere, of course, Miu Miu did wonderful ones on top of a fur coat. Chanel, I feel like, is the OG of the perfect brooch. So they were also all over those runways. So keep an eye out for, again, another accessory that really feels like you and is true to your style, whether you're finding an incredible vintage one on the realreal or maybe you're getting the one from Heaven Mayhem that I love, or maybe there's even one that is passed down throughout your family that is a great storytelling piece as you're getting ready and getting out there in the world. I think, overall, what I've really loved about this season is a lot of the styling moments that we're Talking about here are fun and unique accessories. Maybe in the past, I'd talk about, like, a drape or a loose jean, but these are all moments that feel really personal to someone as they're getting dressed every day, and kind of the opposite of the quiet luxury era, which we're really far past at this point. But I'm really excited to see these styling moments that don't feel as homogenous as maybe I've felt fashion has been in the last few years. So definitely take advantage of it. I'm excited to see more moments that make me want to say, ooh, what's that third styling moment, which I think got a lot of attention during New York Fashion Week. Hats. And not just. We're not talking about a baseball cap. We're not talking about a beanie. We're talking about vintage, inspired hats, like the pillbox hat, which was made really well known by Jackie Kennedy. I feel like you can kind of visualize that beautiful hat on her head, but also, obviously, it's the shape of a pillbox. It's a cylinder, kind of like a box shape that just sits on the top of your head. I feel like I first saw these last season. Laura Piana showed a really incredible assortment of pillbox hats that I feel like were just painfully chic and just so beautiful. I feel like my friend Christina Grosso, who is at the poof on Instagram, is like the queen of a chic pillbox hat. But that's not the only style that I feel like I'm seeing. I feel like I'm seeing the paper boy hat a lot, which Kendall Jenner wore during New York Fashion Week, and I feel like turned the fashion industry into a tizzy. For a few media hours. She wore it with a leather jacket and a pair of slacks and made it look really cool and laid back and very British inspired. I loved it then. I also loved seeing so many hats go down the Runway at Chanel. One of my favorite photos from the show this season was two women in kind of matching outfits, but each of them had their own colorways, and both of them were wearing these beautiful top hat. It's funny, because I feel I'm not really a hat gal. Like, I don't even have that many baseball caps. But I feel like in the past year, I've just seen so much of it out in the fashion ether that it slowly started to infiltrate my brain a little bit. I remember when I was prepping for my wedding, I was like, do I need a hat for something? Like, I'M getting married in England. Should I get a beautiful hat for something? And I ended up finding this incredible hat maker in London. The brand is actually called Emily London. And as I was looking her up, I saw she makes so many hats for a lot of the royals. It's pretty expensive. It's like €700 plus. But her pieces are absolutely stunning. If you're looking for a cool hat for a great celebration coming up, or you just want something that is going to be a forever piece in your closet, I remember actually Olivia Culpo also wore one of her hats for her courthouse ceremony as well. And it was so chic and absolutely stunning. So a really good go to. I also love Gigi Burris. She makes great hats based here in the US and also has a really fun assortment as well. Well, I feel like the paper boy hat is definitely like a fall winter trend. I still think we're going to see a lot more pillbox hats and more hats in general going into spring and summer. Okay, moving on to number four. I feel like anytime I open up my TikTok or Instagram right now, the number one thing that I'm seeing are those tiny circular Miu Miu glasses, both optical and sunglasses. I feel like that eyewear style took the Internet by storm in, like the past two weeks, and suddenly everybody had them. But I think a larger conversation to be had is just opticals and eyewear in general. I loved seeing really elegant evening looks styled with incredible opticals on the Runway during Paris Fashion week at Stella McCartney. There was this gorgeous kind of seafoam green dress. It was satin. It went down the Runway, and it was paired with these, like, incredible clear opticals that felt so contrasting but really worked and made the look feel so cool. And then similarly, I saw it on the Gucci Runway, which was also in Milan, not Paris, on a model who was wearing this, like, beautiful butter yellow look. And that was probably one of my favorite looks in the collection. The look was this turtleneck satin dress with a lace trim with a patent leather yellow jacket on top of it, red heels, and then again these like, awesome, really big, oversized Gucci style round opticals. And I just love seeing these very elevated looks paired with opticals. I feel like it's not something we see a lot. And I'm here for the optical renaissance. As someone who wears contacts every day, I'm always, always kind of looking for ways to incorporate my glasses into my more elevated outfits. And this is giving me major inspiration. Absolutely love it very here for all the glasses and there's actually a pair that I love that I've had my eye on, and they're from Kate. Kate. Glasses are my absolute favorite. If you follow me on Instagram, you know that the only pair of sunglasses that I ever wear are the Kait 1983 C's. They fit my face so well, and I've just gotten them in every color at this point. For opticals, I love their 1998 RX pair. They're a cat eye and just so chic on the face. And I've also had my eye on their 1953 RX. Those are just like the ultimate go to glasses. I just got a new pair, but if I eventually end up splurging on another pair, those are going to be them. They are so cool and just so great for every day. They kind of look like my 1983. They're less of an elevated cat eye silhouette and definitely more of a thicker style. But I love them. I think Kate makes the best glasses. And if you're able to splurge, highly recommend. The pair I just got is from Warby Parker and I'm waiting for them in the mail right now. I can't wait. And I will share them on Instagram once I get them. They're like a classic square shaped frame, which I think will be really interesting. I've never tried that before, but I was very into trying something new when I went into the Warby Parker store the other day, so took the plunge. We'll let you guys know how it goes. Okay, number five. Last but not least. I think for me, the thing that I'm feeling most excited about when I look at all the photos that I've saved from the runways of fall winter 2025 is this really intense lean into things that feel so glamorous. And I actually put a carousel of photos up on my substack the other day and someone said the same thing. They were like, oh my God, these moments feel so glamorous and so fun. And I couldn't agree more. And it makes me so excited to get dressed. And I feel like something I've heard a lot of in the past month is like, oh, fashion's going back to maximalism. And that's not something that I necessarily subscribe to. I do think that fashion kind of swings back and forth in the sense that we had quiet luxury for so long. Coming out of COVID people were in really simple home clothes. And then we all just kind of wanted to feel elevated and put together. And now I think we're tired of kind of that everyday uniform. And we're introducing moments that feel more interesting and colorful and pattern filled. I don't think it's going to be the same maximalism that I feel like I saw in, like, the 2000 and tens, 2000 and twelve, in terms of, like, really loud prints and giant bubble hems and peplums and things like that. But I do think it's going to be a little bit more of a understated chic glamour that feels really exciting for fashion. That being said, the styling moment that I'm feeling the most excited about is number five, and that is overlapping prints. And I know that there's this fashion rule. You do not mix prints ever and ever. Never. You pick one print and you go for it. But there were so many mom in a few shows that I felt so excited by, and I think if you're willing to go for it, it will really pay off. There's one look that I have been thinking about, and I actually have it saved on my phone and have been looking at it so much. And it's this one look from Paco Rabanne that if you want to go check it out on my Instagram right now. So you have the visual component to it, I highly recommend. But it's this multi layered outfit where you can see this girl is wearing like a black, yellow, and red printed turtleneck. And then on top of that is this coat that has three different layers to it. Like a Missoni style, A red tweed on the outside, gray suiting on the inside, and then this like blue sequin moment on the lapel. And while I'm looking at it and I'm like, oh, my gosh, this is so many prints to work with. I really love that they just went for it and there's a big silver belt on the coat, and they paired the model with a bunch of silver earrings. And I'm just like, yes, all of it works. And it's so much fun. The thing that I think is working here is that it's all textures of the same size, and I think that that can work. So let's visualize this for a second so you guys can see what I mean. Let's go with stripes. For example, if you're wearing a blue striped shirt with really thin white stripes, and then you want to put a white coat over it with also really thin, maybe let's say beige stripes. That as an outfit, could 100% work, because your eye knows exactly where to go. Your eye's not darting between the multiple different stripe widths, it has that consistency, and the color might be different, but it's still going to feel homogenous to the eye. Same thing for spots. If you're wearing something with small spots and then something with big spots, it's going to feel very overwhelming. But if you're wearing all the same size spots, it will work. And I think that that really rings true for this look. The detail on every layer is very similar. It's small, and it's detailed. And even though every color is different, it still works because my eye is darting between all the different colors, but it's not necessarily competing. So I think if you are someone who is feeling excited about mixing prints, highly recommend it. Go for it. Just make sure that whatever the print is you're working with similar size across the items that you're pairing it with. I love, love, love that moment. I love the styling of it. It was one of my favorites from the entire season. I thought it was so great, so fun. Reminded me kind of of like old Missoni and actually inspired me. When I was vintage shopping in Paris, I found this beautiful vintage Missoni coat that has all these different color textures in it. It looks like a Missoni sunset in a blazer. And I can't wait to wear that with something like orange underneath or red underneath to kind of bring out those tones. So don't be afraid to do that as fun with it when you're mixing prints. Overall, I was so excited to see so many great styling moments at Paris Fashion Week that feel really fresh and different from what we're used to, Whether it was an incredible hat, which I wouldn't usually wear, but felt inspired to, or mixing prints, which I honestly haven't done in so long and now feel very excited about, to styling brooches, to adding in coats and belts that feel really unique to our personal style. So I got so much inspiration from the week, and I'm always really happy when I get to share it back with you guys. I always love to know what's inspiring you.
