Hi, everyone, it's Liv Perez. And welcome back to another episode of let's get Dressed. I hope you're all having an amazing start to your week. I am just getting over that whatever insane virus is going around right now. I kid you not. This was probably the sickest I've ever been. I was in bed for, like, 48 hours and could not move. So if you hear my breath is, like, labored today, don't worry, I'm fine. I'm just, like, mentally and physically recovering from being out for a few days. I'm so glad to be back and better. I swear, the first day after being sick where you can, like, put on a cute outfit and, like, put on a lip gloss and feel like yourself again. Like, you've never been more grateful for your closet, right? I like, remember putting on, like, a pink blouse and, like, a pair of trousers, and I was like, oh, my God, I'm so grateful for this moment. Like, I feel like a new human. I'm back. Everything's okay. Anyways, I'm really happy to be back here with you guys, especially for a solo episode, which I feel like we haven't done in a while. I don't think I've done one since the top of the year. And that's just because we've had so many amazing guests on the podcast. If you've missed any, there are a few I highly recommend that you have to dive into because I would say in the last two months, some of my favorite episodes we've ever done have aired. Highly recommend checking out Carla Welch's episode. We talk all about the behind the scenes politics of red carpet styling. She's also just the coolest, so I love her episode. Same with Joseph Altuzara. I was able to attend his fall fashion show in New York City in February and and interview him right after. And it was one of those episodes that was just so deeply inspiring because he's just such an honest person. And it was just so cool to get inside the mind of someone who's been in the industry designing for over 20 years. And then I also really loved last week's episode with Larissa Mills, especially since the series finale of Love Story aired last week. We had such a great conversation about Carolyn Bissette Kennedy and how there's been such a such a frenzy online about trying to look like her and how if you buy this skirt, you'll get the Carolyn Bissette Kennedy look and it's so CBK coded. But really, I think what a lot of that does is veer us away from our own personal style. And so Larissa wrote an amazing story for Marie Claire about how she lived in New York City during the CBK era and how we're getting her style all wrong. We had an amazing conversation about confidence and what dressing for yourself means and how if you really do love her style, there are other ways to get it than just buying what the Internet tells you to buy. So it's been an amazing Q1 for the pod. Thank you all for tuning in. Thank you all for supporting the show. I've been having the best time, and it's only going to get bigger and better from here. We have officially hit the first day of spring as of last week. And I don't know about you guys. I live in la, so I feel like living in LA makes it incredibly difficult to be on brand and timely with how the rest of the world is dressing. It has literally been 90 degrees in LA for the last few weeks. I'm not complaining. Do not think I'm complaining. Like, I love it. It's great to walk out of the house and, like, you know, a skirt and a tee while the rest of the world is in coats. Don't get me wrong, but, like, I miss. I miss layers. My style thrives in the fall and winter. I'm a layers girl. I'm a textures girl. I love all the things. I actually have a really hard time with styling myself in the summer. I feel like it's something I'm working on. Maybe I'll do a video on this, or maybe I'll have Thomas come back over and we'll do a little style out together. Because it's just one of those things that I struggle with. But in the meantime, it is officially spring. It's one of those times where you really start to think about your wardrobe. It's almost like a reset point. It's a great time, number one, to clean out your closet. Highly recommend everyone do a wardrobe clean out and see what they wore. Like, did you wear all those sweaters this winter? Did all of your coats get worn? Like, it's a great time to audit what you have. You guys know I have that rule. If you haven't worn it in a year, give it a new home. Donate it, give it to a friend. You should really be keeping your wardrobe as updated as possible. There's a caveat to that, and that is, like, vintage, special pieces that might not get worn all the time. Those can always stay. But for your daily wardrobe, if it's not worn within the year, give it a new home. But so I am thinking about, of course, my spring and summer wardrobe. And so today I'm bringing you guys our most popular series. The 10 things that I think you actually are going to need for this season. They might be things you already have in your closet, things that you might have not been styling, and I'm going to show you how or things that you might want to invest in. And per usual, everything we talk about is going to be on my shop, my. And then also you can easily access it in the description of this episode. I really do find that, like, winter to spring is the hardest time to get dressed. It's such a mind shift. So let today's episode be your toolkit. Let it be your guide to getting ready for spring dressing. Okay? Starting with number one, I think that everybody needs the perfect work pant in their closet to transition them to lighter clothing. I think one of the biggest mental shifts that has helped me work through winter to spring dressing is fabrics. You're going to want to shift a lot of what you're wearing, specifically when it comes down to the fabric, right? Like for example, those corduroy pants that you've been wearing all winter that have added that like extra warmth. You might want to start switching it to like a twill or a linen pant. I really love a work pant for this reason because they're light, they're airy, and this is something I've kind of already been wearing. As I mentioned, it's so hot in la, so I've already been leaning into my pairs and when I think of like a work pant, I think of something very like utility inspired, right? Like it's light, maybe it has pockets. It could be like a pant that can take you from day to night. It just one of those like multi use pants, right? It's a pant that you can wear whether you're like working at home or going into the office. I know workwear can feel really hard, especially in those transitional seasons. So you want to find a pair that's lighter, it's tailored, but still feels really polished. There's one pair that I am obsessed with that I went in and tried on in store and was like, oh my God, these are the dream pant. I went to the Me&M store in Beverly Hills and and it was actually so nice. When I was in the store, I saw so many people walk in who were like, you know, I've seen this brand all over the Internet. It's so nice to be able to, like, come in store and, like, touch the quality. And I can say I vouch for this brand 100%. I know it's on the pricier end, but the quality is so great. I have so many pieces from them that I have worn, like, season after season after season. And I think I overheard someone in the store saying that they put out new clothes every single six weeks, I think it was. Or maybe every month. I don't know how they're keeping up with that, but I'm grateful for it because I love everything they make. The pair of pants that I'm talking about from them is called the clever jean, and it's very obviously called the clever jean because I think it's one of those pants that, like, easily manipulates the eye. Right. Like, from afar, it looks like this really tailored trouser, but when you go up close, it's actually a lightweight denim. What I really love about these is they actually don't have a side seam, so it gives you this really clean, like, slightly tapered silhouette. They also have this subtle pleat in the front near the pockets, which makes them feel so elevated and tailored. But when you have them on, they feel like a cottony, soft pair of jeans because they're lighter. They're perfect for those really hot spring days. But I also feel like you could wear them in the office with a great button down and a belt, and it would feel like you're in a tailored trouser. They're 325, but I really think they're worth it if you're looking for an investment pant. I also love the twill everywhere pant from Enzacosta. We've talked about this pant so many times. These are 2.95. These are a little bit more casual, I would say. I don't think that these could take you to the office unless you're in a bit more of, like, a casual setting. They're a classic twill trouser. They're much lighter. I've worn these, like, to the beach a bunch with a bathing suit. I've worn them on the plane. These, to me, are the ultimate travel pant. Like, wear them with a big sweater, you will be so comfortable that they're kind of a dupe for those row pants, like the scrunchie row pants that everybody loves. I'm obsessed with them. I have them in black, I have them in white, and I would buy them in every color if I could. I also think for spring, like, they're so cute. With a tank or a tee, you'll instantly feel put together. But it's, like, one step above a legging or a sweatpant. Right. But one step below a trouser. It's those transitional pants that I think really aid your wardrobe in going from winter to spring. Okay, moving on to the jacket that I feel like has been going strong for a few years now, since J. Crew really brought it back. And that is a barn jacket. I feel like, you know, the brand is strong when, like, every 10 things you need for spring episode of, like, the last three years has, like, these staple pieces that I bring up over and over again. But that's because I'm true to it, guys. Like, I'm true to the things that I know you need. I'll sprinkle in some new things, but you're always gonna get those classics. Every brand has their own version of this. Right now. You can literally get a barn jacket, I think, on any website. There are two, though, that I really love. One of them is the Clarisse jacket from Hill House Home. And this jacket has actually been on Shop My's 10 Favorite Things for the last few weeks. It is a top seller for them right now. Hill House Home actually has some really cute things. I did not expect that. I know that they were an interiors brand before. Now they're doing clothes, and it's so cute. The jacket is under $300, which I think is an amazing price for a jacket. They have it in a few different colorways, but I love the pink with, like, this maroon accent collar. It's fun to bring a little bit of color into spring. And a statement jacket is just kind of, like, the easiest way to do it. Pair it with your jeans and, like, a white tee. And it's also cute, I will say, a little hard to find. I have to, like, keep checking back for my sizing, but if you can get your hands on it, it's just such a cute jacket. I think a barn jacket literally goes with everything. I think it's cute over a dress. I think it's cute with a skirt. I think it's great with jeans, great with trousers. It's one of those things that just makes anything feel, like, laid back and cool. I also really like the Tala peplum jacket from Veronica Beard. This one's more of a splurge. It's a little bit over a thousand dollars. I'm loving a peplum right now. We saw a lot of it on the runways at the most recent fashion shows in February. A lot of peplum at the Dior show. I think we're really going to see that silhouette come back in full force. I feel like I started to see it a lot more at two seasons ago. There's a brand called Ashlynn A, S, H, L, Y, N, N, and they showed a lot of peplums on their Runway two or three seasons ago. And I remember seeing it and being like, ooh, is the peplum coming back? And I really felt like the peplum hasn't had its moment since 2016, right during the era I had just moved to New York, Gossip Girl was on tv. Teen Vogue was thriving. The peplum was a thing, and I haven't really seen it come back until now. It's very different than it was in 2016. 2016. It felt very prep and defined and, like a lot of movement. This feels a little bit more relaxed and a bit more subtle, and I'm loving it. I think it's really great. And this Veronica Beer jacket is super chic, so you might as well just get out there and kill two birds with one stone. With the peplum barn jacket, I love it. So cute. And the contrast collar, I think you can have a lot of fun with your style in those two colorways. My dream jacket is the Bottega contrast collar. Barn jacket. I think it's so cute. I saw someone wearing it out to dinner the other night, and I was like, yeah, that's a jacket that you have in your closet for the rest of your life and pass down to your kids. And then one day they take it from your closet, and you're like, why are you wearing that? It's one of those things. Definitely on the wish list. Okay, quick pause from today's episode because I have to tell you guys about a few of my favorite pieces that have been on my mind this spring from one of my favorite brands, Banana Republic. Lately, I have been so intentional about what I'm adding to my wardrobe. I'm really in this phase where I care a lot more about quality pieces that just feel worth investing in, that I will actually reach for over and over again. And Banana Republic has always been my tried and true. They have always been known for their workwear, especially those iconic 90s and early 2000s campaigns, which I feel like is really trending right now. For me, getting dressed for work doesn't really look the same every day. Some days it's a 9am meeting, and other days it's recording cordings, fittings, events. So I really need pieces that just feel Put together and super easy. The Archive inspired suede jackets like this one feel very classic Banana Republic. It's structured, but still really relaxed. And of course, the tailoring has such a great polished look, but it's genuinely comfortable for your everyday life. It's that balance of structure and ease that I'm always looking for in my wardrobe. So for all of your spring shopping needs, shop new arrivals at Banana Republic. Today's episode is presented by Depop. If you know me, you know I am big on a closet reset. I genuinely think that when your closet feels organized, your brain and life does too. So how many things are in your closet right now that you have loved when you bought them? Maybe you wore them once or twice, but now they are just sitting there. Here's something that I have realized. That random vintage blazer or dress that you bought for that birthday or dinner, someone is searching for that exact vibe right now. And that's why I love Depop. It's a resale app where you can buy and sell fashion. But what makes it feel different is how easy it is to actually list something. You literally snap a photo and their AI powered listing fills in the details. It gives you smart pricing, suggestions you can accept, offers boost listings, and it takes what feels overwhelming and makes it feel like a very low lift. Also, no seller fees. So if you're clearing out one bag, five pairs of jeans, or doing a full closet edit, what you earn is actually yours. So download the Depop app and list one thing that you're not wearing today. You might be surprised at how fast it finds a new home, guys. Okay, next up, pencil skirts. I feel like every season there's a skirt shape, right? One day it's the midi skirt, one day it's the bubble skirt. Right now, I think we're seeing a lot of pencil skirts. And let's be real, this is probably the trickle down of the Carolyn Bassett Kennedy situation with Love Story. I think she wore a lot of really great slim silhouettes. I think that really suited her frame and was just like a staple of her wardrobe. And so I think we're seeing it a lot more on social media for that reason. It was kind of perfect timing because I got this unbelievable Chanel leather camel pencil skirt from Thredup last fall, and I'm obsessed with it. I wear it like, multiple times a week with, like a sweater, a tank, my flats. I love it so much. I will say pencil skirts, one can easily make an outfit feel very polished, right? You can still style it. As I mentioned, in a Very relaxed way, a tank, some flats. But I also think it's not as easy to style as any other skirt, right? It hits the leg at a very interesting point. It's not for everybody. CBK was super tall, lanky, skinny, let's be real. And so it's not the easiest style to style because of the fact that I think it's. It hits in a weird spot, right? Like, it's not a mini skirt that can elongate your legs. It's not a midi skirt that hits right mid calf and can kind of feel very chic and flowy. It's right at the knee, which I think is a weird place sometimes to cut the leg. However, I would say if you're loving it, like I am, lean into that, like, elongatedness and do everything you can to include every element that continues to do that. Pointed toe flats, as you guys know, are my personal favorite. I think they elevate and make every outfit better, right? Like, that is my secret weapon in my closet. Most of my shoes are pointed toes besides the new Chanel's. I did just buy the new Chanel's, which, if you follow me everywhere, I've posted and love them so much, they're a square toe, which, like, I'm vehemently against. Like, I am not a square toe girl, but these shoes have me in a chokehold. Don't know what to tell you guys. They make me feel, like, hot. Like, my friend came over the other day and was like, those are sexy. There's something really sexy about them. And I'm not sure what it is about them. Maybe it's the colorway. I got the maroon colorway. Love them so much. But that will be my only diversion. Like, that's the only excuse I make, right? Like, I actually tried on in the Chanel store when I bought them. I tried on a pair of square toe loafers and I was like, nope, that doesn't work. But these, for some reason, they worked. Every rule has an exception. Okay, guys. And those Chanel square toe heels are my exception. Anyways, back to pointed toe shoes. I think they do so much for an outfit. They make you look really long. So lean into those if you're trying to style a pencil skirt. And same thing on the top. I would match the proportion of the skirt to your top. I would wear something a bit more form fitting because you want something that makes you feel longer. There are two that I'm currently loving. I love Massimo Dutti. Oh, my God, guys. Like, why is it the best? It's so good. They have so many good things, and it is a bit pricier than Zara. I will say it's a bit more of an investment, but I think the pieces are so, so, so good. There's a nappa leather mini skirt that's really similar to the one I got from chanel, and it's 590. And I think it's just so elevated. And I feel like you'll wear this every day in the spring. It'll be like the thing you pull out when you want to look really good, which is what I do with my Chanel skirt. And then there's also a faux leather skirt from j. Crew that's $100 and honestly looks so expensive for a faux leather skirt. I like it in the brown. I feel like that's the one that looks the most elegant and elevated. I also will say because it's faux leather, it's a little bit lighter, which honestly is great. And it's more wearable for spring. So I love both of those. And I think we're going to see a lot more pencil skirts this spring. Look at CBK influencing us right and left, guys. I wonder if it's a micro trend and we're only talking about it now. If or if we're going to see it in a few months. I don't know. We'll find out. I thought we were over quiet luxury, but here we are again. Okay, moving on to the next one. Layered tees. I, like, love the layered tee vibe. I feel like it's been going strong for years. I remember a few years ago, Billie Eilish wore a layered tee for one of her performances. I feel like this was in 2024, and ever since then, I think it's just been going so, so, so strong. And I love it because I feel like it adds this tiny styling element, like this little umph to anything you're wearing. However, I don't love the idea of wearing two T's. I feel like that's really hot, especially as we get into the warmer seasons. And the other thing I'm obsessed with about this is, like, you can literally wear jeans in your favorite flats, and the outfit immediately looks cool. Like it again, it adds that tiny element without having to do too much. Back to me and M. I feel like I've been loving their spring collection. They have a contrast trim, slim tee, and they have it in multiple colors. Red, brown, gray, white. I tried it on in store, too, and I thought it was super cute. The red is amazing. I would get the red and, like, wear that with a blazer all day, every day. It's 95, so a little bit pricier for a tee, but still, I think it's one of those tees that does a little bit more than a tank. Right. And then J. Crew also has a Carolyn layered sweater tee. It's a little bit more of a thicker material. It's also $90, but I also think both of these are so cool, and you'll get so much use out of them. I would get these in as many colors as I can because I feel like they're just such a great wardrobe staple. Speaking of tees, really quickly, I just have to shout out my new favorite tee in my wardrobe. RLT has been killing it. I have been wearing their ribbed tee for years. It's my favorite tea. I'm obsessed with them. But they just came out with a cotton cashmere tee that, like. I'm so sorry. To my rib tees. They're kind of at the bottom of my T shirt drawer right now because I've been living in the cotton cashmere. It's so soft. It's the perfect tea. Like, could not recommend more. Moving on to number five. Let's talk about textures, because I feel like it goes without saying that fringe and feathers are literally everywhere, whether it's on a skirt, a dress, a scarf. I feel like, in general, let's just say that movement is in right now in fashion. I think we can easily reference the recent Bottega shows, Chanel shows, Dior shows. There is so much movement and texture in every single one of those collections. Like, seeing them on the Runway is a very different experience than seeing them on a rack. Right. Like, those designers are designing clothes that are meant to be lived in real life. And I think that that's something that is really important in today's world. Like, we need to be designing for the way that we move and not just for something to be hanging on a hanger or a garment rack. Right. So I'm loving this kind of influx of pieces that feel multi dimensional and feel like things I honestly want to put on and, like, go dancing in. And sometimes I just, like, often have to remind myself that quiet luxury was boring because we were sitting at home and not going everywhere. And, like, life was boring. And so fashion got kind of boring. And now I feel like we're in this time where, like, fashion is being designed for us to really live life again. So I'm excited about it. It adds a little bit of personality. I'm really looking for pieces that are fringed and feathered and have tassels and are embellished and the embellishments move. All of that is really fun. And especially if you're in the east coast right now and you're coming out of that insanely cold winter, I feel like this is a great way to bring some lightness and energy back into your wardrobe. One of my favorite pieces that I've gotten in the last year in my wardrobe was a Bottega Veneta skirt that I got on the RealReal. I don't know how I stole this, but I did. I think it was, like, a $400 skirt that was new collection that somebody must have bought for, like, two grand. And then the realreal didn't realize it was new collection and sold it to me for $400. It is this, like, white boucle skirt with a fringe hem on the bottom. I'm obsessed with it. I wore it on the beach. I've worn it to dinners with a big blazer or a trench coat, or in the summer. I've gotten so much wear out of this piece. And one thing I want to say about all this, like, movement wear is, like, don't think that when you buy it, it's only going to exist in the spring, summer season. Make sure that you're buying something that you can see yourself wearing year round. Like, for example, this Bottega skirt. You could see it and say, that feels really summery. But I loved wearing it in the winter with, like, a black fitted sweater and my black coat over it. I feel like it was so chic. It was very California, very West Coast. So make sure when you're looking for those pieces that you feel like you can wear it year round. There are a few pieces that I'm loving right now. One of them is from Lulu du Saison. It's $290. I can't with this top. This top is so damn cute. It's sleeveless. It's, like, very minimal, but there's fringe all over it. And it kind of gives that statement moment without feeling too over the top. You could definitely style this in a maximalist way with a leather skirt or, like, the fringe skirt that I have. Or you could just wear it with a pair of jeans. I just think it's a fun, easy piece to add a little flavor to your outfit. If you want to go a little bit more over the top. Or if you know you're going to a wedding this spring or maybe you have a baby shower. Or a great event. There is a dress from age that I love. It is the breeze fringed metallic knitted midi dress. It is this, like, beautiful blue dress with, like, a metallic thread throughout. It actually feels very Chanel, and it has this, like, fringe bottom. If you guys have been following me for a while, you might remember a similar dress from AJ That I wore on my Bachelorette. It was all white and had that same fringe bottom. And it's one of my favorite dresses in my closet. It's so beautiful and so comfortable to wear. But they now have it in a baby blue, so I think it's perfect for spring especially. Again, if you're heading to an event and want to wear something with a little bit of movement, don't be afraid to lean into all those textures. I know that for some of you, this might feel like something such a far departure, but I think that all of this is quite literally dressing for joy again. All of this makes me feel like I want to go out and dance. So I think try it once. Try it with a low investment piece. Right? Maybe try it with a scarf that has tassels on it or even a belt that has tassels on it and see how you feel. I don't think you need to invest in these big pieces first. See how you feel with a little bit of texture in your wardrobe and go from there. I really love a tassel belt. Kalmire has a bunch of them, and I bet you you can find a few dupes on the market, too. This actually teased me up perfectly for my next spring. Must have, because I do have a favorite color for the spring, and it's kind of unexpected. I am obsessed with a little something blue right now. I think blue is the color of the season. I saw it so much on the runways in Paris, but it was sprinkled in in ways that were really unexpected. Right. Like, I feel like sometimes we see color, and it kind of meshes throughout the outfit. And this was like, a random blue bag at the Dior show on a plaid jacket with jeans. It was completely out of place. And the same goes for shoes. Like, there were looks that just had, like, a baby blue shoe. And it really made me realize we wear denim every single day. Blue is a neutral. Just throw it in wherever you want and let it work. Because I think the fashion eye is trained to see blue as that. Right. Like, we wear blue all the time, so don't feel like it always has to match perfectly. Feel like it's a good little personality pop. I actually just Got a baby blue T shirt from Reformation that I've been having a lot of fun styling. It's the Mac slim tee. It's just like a classic t shirt. It's $48, and I've been loving styling it with just, like, my dark wash blue jeans. Or the other day I wore it under, like, an olive trench coat, and the color combo looked so good with, like, a pair of white jeans. I think it's one of those things in your closet that again, kind of like the layered tee is like, a very easy investment to, like, spice up your wardrobe a little bit. Raft for me, is, like, one of my favorite places to get tees and tops in general. I always go there if I need to re up. They just do it so well. Like, honestly, I love Raf. I'm such a big raft shopper. I'm. I'm there all the time, and I feel like they make, like, a great. Not dupe because it's not cheap, but, like, they do really have a good eye on, like, what's going on in the industry and. And find a way to make it very, like, their own version, but so that you feel like you're getting the look. So check out that tee. I love it. And then if you want to do something a bit more accessories inspired, I love. I'm not sure I'm pronouncing it right. Ayede. I think that aye dae. I think that's how you say it. A, E, Y, D, E. They have these Clara pointed toe pumps that are so cute. They're like, high on the arch of your foot, and it's just like a classic pump in this, like, perfect baby blue shade. That actually would look so great with the AJ dress we were talking about before. That's a really cute outfit. Like, if you're going to a baby shower, that's like, a little bit nicer and maybe your friend is having a boy or you're the mama to be. That is such a cute look. So definitely find that in the shop. My. Because I feel like so many people ask me about baby shower looks. I just gave it to you guys. But also if you're not doing any of that with just, like, jeans and a white tee. So cute. Such a great way to like, add a little bit more to an outfit for your everyday. Moving on to number seven. While we're talking about bright accessories, I'm loving seeing so many bright belts out in the world right now. I think ever since Matthew Blasey's debut collection for Chanel, we've been seeing this really big resurgence of like, bold colored croc embossed belts. There was one look from his show that like, kind of lives rent free in my mind. And. And it's this navy skirt suit that. And the skirt had like an underskirt that was sticking out. And they were wearing the pumps that we all love. And then there was a green. Green croc embossed belt. And that green belt to me made the whole look. Like the look would not have been the same if that green belt wasn't there. It just elevated the outfit so much. And so I remember actually right after that, my mom went and bought like a ton of colored belts because she was so inspired by that. So. So it's a really easy way, I think, to make something feel really elevated. I actually have like in my cart right now a navy suit. I really need one. I don't have like a great navy suit that I can wear to events and I cannot wait to wear that with a green croc embossed belt and maybe like a white tee underneath it. I feel like that is just such a cool outfit. So I would look into colored belts. You guys know I love Oryum. I am obsessed with Oryum. If I could just buy oram belts for the rest of my life, I absolutely would. I don't know why people buy anything but an Orion belt. It's the price range is so great. Their belts are like 225, 250. And the quality is like buying a Tom Ford or Chanel belt. They're so great. And they have this like, really great hunter green belt. It's with gold hardware. It feels so timeless, so polished, so good. I highly recommend that. But then I also saw a red one from Anderson's on Net, a porter that I also think is really good. Both belts, all handmade in Italy. Definitely worth the investment. And our belts, you're going to have forever. Honestly, so much fun this spring. Like, I'm loving all the colors and textures and movement. Like, I am so happy that we've had such a pendulum shift in fashion. And like, I feel it every day when I'm getting dressed. I feel so excited. I feel so risk drawn to risk. Like right now I'm wearing like, I told you guys I'd put, like right after I was sick, I put on this like bright baby pink button down and these tweed trousers. And I feel like I'm dressing so differently than I ever have. And it feels more true to who I am than ever. There's so much personality, and I'm really loving that. And I really think it's because of how much we're seeing in fashion right now. Like, there's just so much excitement, so much newness that I'm feeling really inspired, genuinely. Not to sound cheesy, but really I'm feeling so inspired in my everyday style. And I feel like that's so emblematic of all of these things that I'm sharing. They're so exciting. They're all things that bring just a little pop to your everyday wardrobe. Okay, number eight. One of our classics that I bring up every spring, and that is lace. We love a little lace for spring. I feel like every time spring rolls around, there is, like, that first post that goes on Instagram where someone's wearing something in lace, and we're like, okay, we're here. The seasons are changing. And for me, that post was Morgan Stewart's post when she was wearing a satin skirt with a lace trim, a bright red kind of anorak style jacket, and then the new Chanel pointed toe heels from Matthieu's new collection. I think the Internet was like, oh, spring is here. It was the perfect transitional styling outfit that easily you could tell was taking her from, like, colder to milder temps. And I feel like so many people duplicated it after that. I loved it so much. And so I will always say that, like, spring, to me, feeling feels synonymous with lace. Like, the lace always has to come out. And I get it. Like, we're all so excited for, like, any inkling of summer to bring out, like, our little lace shorts and lace tees. So I think it's really fun to incorporate it into spring because I actually love lace the most when it's paired with winter accessories, like Morgan's outfit. Like, I love lace with, like, an anorak or a trench coat. I love that contrast. I actually styled it on my TikTok that way, I think in the fall when I was in New York, and I got so many comments because I think contrast is so fun in fashion. Like, those are the moments to me that I feel are most exciting. So now's a great time to pull out all of your lace things. There's one top that I wore in New York during New York Fashion Week, and it was from Kalmire. It was the Zia cowl tank in silk and lace. This is a bit more of an investment top. It's $620. But if you're looking for something that's great to wear to events, maybe you have a big Business thing coming up. I really loved this paired with a blazer. It's a bit more of a longer top, which I think is really cool if you pair it like I did with a cropped blazer, because then you've got that lace layer showing underneath. It's on my Instagram right now if you guys want to check it out. I was wearing it during New York Fashion Week, and I think if you're going to invest in a top like this, like, find numerous ways to wear it, right? Like, under the blazer on its own in the summer with white pants. Like, there are just so many ways to dress it up or dress it down. It's really, like, fun and beautiful and, like, kind of Carrie Bradshaw ish, but really practical, too. But also, if you don't want to splurge, honestly, I can't believe I'm saying ref again, but Raf has so many good lace pieces. Like, I have the lace shorts. I have the lace skirt. I have the lace dresses. And that's because they just do it right. Right. And all of those pieces are, I think, really approachable. Their Carolina silk skirt is about $250, and it's just this, like, really easy, feminine piece to have in your closet for spring. Again, I love it paired with, like, a lace top and a trench or a big sweater. I've been styling lace for a really long time. I actually featured it on the Today show last September for my fall style segment. I styled her in a lace little, like, top and matching skirt. It was a midi skirt, by the way, and a trench coat over it. And Craig Melvin, who's a co host of the Today show, when she came out was like, wait a minute, guys. I thought lace was like boudoir. Like, lace is for the bedroom. First of all, my soul left my body. When Craig said, for the bedroom on my Today show segment, I was like, how do I recover from this? Where do I go here? Where do I go from here? I think I just smiled and nodded. But it was so funny, because I totally understand how some people can see lace as something that feels maybe for more intimate moments, But I really like it. Out in the world. I think we see it styled so now more than ever, shorts and, like, a cute graphic tee again under a trench coat. So feel free to lean into it. I think it's such a great piece for spring and summer. Number nine. Every spring and summer, I feel like there's a very distinctive denim trend that comes around. Like, a few years ago, it was, like, balloon jeans. Then it was like, really baggy jeans. Then it was low rise. And one thing I'm seeing a lot of right now are cropped jeans. And I love it for a few reasons. One, Larissa Mills on our episode last week, talking about CBK and the very distinctive markers of her style. One thing she mentioned was that CBK actually wore a lot of cropped jeans, and it was because she wanted to show off her shoes. And I didn't notice that. But once you notice it and look at her style, you're like, wow. It actually makes the world of a difference. For everything that she's wearing. It really elongates her because you could see more of the shoe. Once you notice it, it's kind of hard to unsee because you're like, wow, that really does add a lot to an outfit. I feel like we're really in coming out of this era of like the long, straight boot cut where you completely lost shoes in every outfit. They were nowhere to be seen. So I'm loving this, like, slightly cropped moment. It feels very intentional. Draws your eye down so you can show off your shoes. We invest so much in our gorgeous shoes. So I love the idea that this kind of moment brings a lot of the attention there. And I actually asked Larissa how she elevates an outfit. And it's funny because I usually say a jacket. Like, I think a jacket is a way to really, like, tie an outfit together. And she said shoes, which was super surprising because I would think that last, like, shoes to me are kind of an afterthought. Maybe that's a me problem. Probably a me problem. But I like how all of this is kind of intertwined. Right. Like for her, the shoe elevates it. And now we're in this moment where I feel like we're really showing off the shoes. There are two pairs that I love. There's one pair that I've been talking about for so long. If you've been listening to the show for a while, you'll probably know it. It's the Gavin boyfriend jean from anina Bing. They're $250. They are perfect. Like, the color is this, like beautiful light wash, slightly relaxed, straight leg jean. Really good vintage feel like kind of feel like a Levi's vintage 501. But they hit right at the ankle and I love that they're a mid rise. We know that I'm no longer wearing high rises. I cannot wear a high rise jean anymore. Guys. I want to live. I don't want to feel like I am caged in and cannot breathe. I like to eat food. I don't want to feel like every time I sit down there is something digging into the bottom of my rib cage. So I love these mid rise. I love the wash. They're so cute. I styled them a few years ago with like those Chanel Flat Mary jeans and it was one of my most shared outfits. Loved it so much. So feel free to have fun and wear any shoe you want with those. And then I also, if you're looking for a really accessible, affordable pair, I recently went on a trip with Old Navy and got to try all of their jeans and I was blown away. They have such good jeans, you guys. I tried on a pair called the wow jean and they were literally $25 and they looked so good. They actually were comparable to so many more like designer inspired jeans in my closet and I love them so much. They have a high waisted OG straight ankle jean that I also tried on just like your classic straight leg with a cropped ankle fit. And you can't beat that price. They're $25 and on sale for 50% off right now. So I highly recommend trying out those jeans. Consider Old Navy co signed on my end. I actually think they have so many great pieces. Another great piece that I can't stop wearing. I think it's called the shrunken tank. I have been living in this white tank top. Like wearing it so much that I'm like washing it so I can wear it the next day. It is so, so good. It fits like so snug. It lasts throughout the day. It doesn't like, get frumpy. It's so good. I highly recommend those two pieces. Okay, number 10, we are at the end. And my last piece for you guys is a shoe. I know we talked about a shoe earlier, but I feel like we needed like a classic shoe style for the spring. Right. And that for me is a loafer. And specifically a sleek loafer. I feel like sleek loafers have really been dominating the loafer market for the last few years. We were really in that era of chunky loafers for a long time. And I'm so glad we're out of it because they're so bad for my back. I have a really bad back. And anytime these like, heavy shoe styles come in fashion, I can't wear them because they're just so much weight on my feet and pull on my lower back. And it's just not good for us guys. So the lighter the shoe, the better. I love a loafer for Every season of course. But I think spring specifically really invites us to wear these like lighter again, looser fabrics and styles. And so I'm loving this like sleeker, more paired back loafer. It feels really polished and put together. It's not the centerpiece of an outfit, but it just feels really practical and easy to wear day to day. I feel like in the last two years we've really seen this rise of a pared back shoe and I think all of this has trickled down right, like we went from like Adidas, sambas and ballet flats being such a big thing to then the Dries Van Noten sneaker craze, right to then the loafer shape even changing to now something really sleek and minimal. And the row loafer being the biggest thing in the world. Also something that sold out and everybody wanted to get their hands on. So I'm loving it. One for my back but also for my personal style. I feel like it works lot better. Obviously I mentioned the Ro Loafer. Those are $12.50. They're definitely an investment shoe. But my best friend wears them every day and says they are her favorite thing in her closet. I do not have them but I feel like everyone I trust has co signed them. So consider this a secondhand cosign. I love how minimal there are. They come in a lot of different colors and textures. I feel like you can find anything for your wardrobe. Obviously the ultimate craftsmanship. I also love there's a brand called Chop Pesh and they sell loafers for under a hundred dollars. Insanely good price of course for a loafer. They're also actually a vegan leather. I've tried them myself. They're really comfortable. I will say of course, like these probably aren't going to be a lifelong loafer. You might get a few wears out of them. But again I think an easy everyday option if you are looking to try a loafer in that department. My go tos are from Jenny Kane. They're the Dylan loafer. They're about $600 I think and I love them so much. I wear them every day. They're incredible quality and they're in that like mid price point where I didn't feel like I had to splurge but I wanted something that I'd get multiple years of wear out of. It's interesting. I feel like as the fashion has gotten bigger, the shoes have gotten smaller. But you know what, we might see a big change in that. Like I do think the Chanel shoes are really fun. Aren't and Might be inviting in a new era of, like, fun maximalist shoes. I do think the cropped jeans play a role in it. Like, I think again, we've been seeing these, like, baggy bootleg pants that have kind of hidden shoes for the last few years. So now that we're seeing a bit more of a crop style come in, there might be more focus on the real estate of a shoe. So who knows, in a couple months from now, I could be talking to you guys about fur trimmed shoes. I don't know, but I'm excited to find out. Okay, guys, Those are my 10 things you need for spring. I always love doing these episodes. It's such a great way for me to kind of brain dump all the things I've been paying attention to in the industry and also keep you guys updated on what I think is great for your wardrobes. I always like to say these episodes are not meant for you guys to go and buy 10 new things. It's meant to inspire you to maybe shop your own wardrobe, see what you already have. Maybe you have a baby blue belt or sweater or scarf in your closet that you can throw in with your trench coat for a spring day. Or maybe you have a pair of shoes in your closet that's a bit more paired back. Maybe those ballet flats haven't gotten a lot of use lately. Or maybe those cropped jeans have been collecting dust because you've been trying something else for the last few seasons. So it's not meant to tell you to buy new things. You absolutely can if you want to, but I really just hope these episodes inspire you to go into your closet and refresh it, rethink it, maybe clean it out while you're at it. Because I do think doing that as often as you can is so good for one your mental health. I think a clean closet is a clean mind, but it also is great to just inspire creativity in your everyday life. If you guys love this episode, please leave us a review. I love hearing what you guys think and what you want to hear more of on the show. And as I mentioned, if you want to shop this episode, the shop, my link is in the description. Have a great rest of your week, everybody, and I'll see you next week on the pod.
