No such thing as camera off for dogs. Let's talk about next level dog care. That means treating them with next level protection from parasites with Nexguard Plus, Afoxylonir, moxidectin and parental chewable tablets. Nexguard plus Chews provide one and done monthly protection against fleas, ticks, heartworm disease, roundworms and hookworms. Plus they come in a tasty beef flavored soft chew that that's designed to be easy to give use with caution in dogs with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Dogs should be tested for existing heartworm infection prior to starting a preventive. So the next time you're at the vet, ask about Nexgard plus Chews.
Christina Applegate
When I was diagnosed, I was on camera being diagnosed. I was getting sicker and sicker on film. So I was having to take everyone on the journey with me because I had no choice. I had to finish this season of the show. It was important to me. It was important to our crew.
Seth Meyers
Somebody got to cue me or do I cue myself?
Jan
Cue yourself.
Seth Meyers
Ok, so season three, I am required to listen to myself. Is that what you're suggesting?
Albert
That's what the radio people say.
Seth Meyers
I feel as though I have been punished enough. Get ready everyone. We are back with circumstances. Season three of let's Talk off camera. So let's get talking.
Christina Applegate
Wow.
Seth Meyers
Never before has four applause sounded so mighty. Well, just when you think this show can't get any bigger. I don't know how else to segue. Think again because today we have not one, but two amazing actresses joining us. Christina Applegate and Jamie Lynn Sigler. They of course starred in two of our favorite shows, Dead to Me and the Sopranos. Do we see a theme here? Do we see a theme in my viewing? Do we see the kind of shows that I like? We're not the only ones. Jan with a podcast. I know you like to think we are, but we're not. They have a podcast called Messy where they get personal about messy curveballs life can throw you, which for them, as we know is ms, hence the title. Capital M E capital S S Y. I'm really looking forward to this Conversation. They're good girls. They're just great women. And Christina Applegate and I bonded many years ago over hating the same person. And I feel like it's true. Dear listeners, what they say. The enemy of your enemy is your friend. And that is how we met and fell in love with. But before we get to them, Albert, Jan, and even Seth, who now has his own mic. Because people find your voice very sexy. Seth.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Hey, gang.
Seth Meyers
Or at least they did find your voice very sexy. What's going on with you guys? Have you recovered from Lola Consuelo's peppering you with requests to listen to her voice?
Seth
Oh, my God, it is so funny. She texts us, like, every morning. Every morning saying, can. Can I get. Can I listen to my podcast yet? We're like, lola, you gotta wait a minute. Michelle Obama's taking precedent.
Albert
Yeah. Hello.
Seth Meyers
What's so funny is Michael and Lola fighting at the dinner table over why Lola was the podcast guest? Because my kids. My kids, like, they're never home at the same time ever. You know, if Lola's home, Michael's out of town. If Michael's home, Lola, of course, is usually out of town, and. And Joaquin is never in town, and he'll never be on this podcast.
Seth
Well, I think you should tell Michael that he's gonna have his own episode.
Albert
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Oh, my gosh.
Seth Meyers
Yep.
Albert
Yeah.
Seth Meyers
He will be drunk with power.
Christina Applegate
Yeah.
Seth Meyers
Are you sure you will? Yeah.
Seth
And then it's gonna be a competition. Is whose episode rated better?
Seth Meyers
Oh, my gosh. Oh, my gosh. Oh. Oh, get your. Get your.
Seth
But Michael has to come with, like, some good dirt. I want some good. Bravo, dirt.
Seth Meyers
Bravo, dirt.
Seth
I want the dirt.
Seth Meyers
Yeah. He won't give you any.
Seth
Well, we'll torture him. We'll, like, will threaten to. To torture his figurines.
Seth Meyers
One of his figurines. One of his toys. One of his many toys.
Seth
Wait, what were you gonna say about Bob Iger? Is he coming back?
Albert
No, no, no.
Seth
So he's not coming back.
Seth Meyers
He wants to come in.
Albert
In the studio. Jason was there, and Jason and Jan. The. Bob Iger came up and.
Seth
Jason who?
Seth Meyers
Weinberg. Jason Weinberg the most. Talking to a whole. Weinberg is, dear listeners, probably the most powerful manager in Hollywood. He's been a friend of mine for, God, 35 years. I mean, we've been friends for a really long time. So what happened with so, no.
Albert
So Jan and Jason were there, and Bob Iger came up, and I said to Jason, you know, Bob is Jan's hall pass.
Seth Meyers
Oh, yeah, that's right.
Albert
But then I realized I don't have a hall pass because Jason said, who's your hall pass? And then I realized it. Is it weird that I don't have a hall pass? Like, I have no idea who that person would be. So I figured you.
Christina Applegate
No, no, no.
Albert
But this is why I figure you know me well enough to come up with a hall. You don't have to do it now, but there must be, like, who's the hall pass? Who's Kyle adjacent? As an actor, that would be. It's a tough one.
Seth Meyers
That's really Kyle adjacent.
Seth
It doesn't have to be anything about Kyle.
Seth Meyers
It's about, like, who's, like, his type? Who's Albert's type? Who's his type? Isn't that. Oh, God.
Albert
Seth, do you have a hall pass?
Seth Meyers
Not that I know of. Oh, please.
Seth
That's such.
Seth Meyers
It hasn't been discussed. Sydney and brother. Who's marked hall pass? Do we know?
Seth
Oh, yeah, he said it.
Seth Meyers
He did, didn't or. No, he said he had a childhood crush.
Seth
Sorry, it was a childhood crush.
Seth Meyers
Childhood crush was Alyssa Milano. Alyssa Milano. Text Mark right now and ask him, who is hall pass? Just text him and ask him. We. We need to know. I need to know what?
Seth
We need a hall pass, by the way. I can't. There's, like. I know you can't, like, sexually harass when you're more in power, but if I do the sexual harassing upwards, I'm not gonna get fired or anything.
Seth Meyers
No, he can't fire you for sexually harassing him. Up.
Albert
Jan, tell him who your husband's hall pass is.
Seth Meyers
Oh, who's your husband?
Christina Applegate
Liz Cho.
Seth Meyers
Oh, Liz Cho. That's right. I forgot. Liz Chao. Yeah, that could be Mark's hall pass too. I bet Liz Cho is.
Albert
Aw, he said I don't have one. She's my hall pass.
Seth Meyers
That's a dirty lie.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Tell him.
Seth Meyers
That's a dirty lie. And I need him to come with a hall pass right now. Tell him there's a gun to his heads of his children and he has to pick a hall pass. Gun to the heads of his children.
Albert
Like, I find people hot. Like, I'll say, oh, that guy. But none of them are, like, should be a hall pass.
Seth
Okay, but we understand that a hall pass is on marrying that person. It's someone that you get a free excuse to go have sex with. But no, in Bob Iger's case, I'd marry him too.
Seth Meyers
You would make an exception to the hall.
Seth
If I get fire Telly.
Seth Meyers
You are Will quit in protest. I will quit taking care of me. I will terrify them and quit in protest.
Albert
He's your ballroom pass.
Seth Meyers
He's your. He's Jan. That's Jan's hall monitor. Jan becomes the hall monitor.
Albert
Oh, my God.
Seth Meyers
I love the lady of the hall.
Seth
Albert, your assignment is to come up with.
Albert
All right, I'll come up with one.
Seth
That's crazy. I have another hall pass.
Seth Meyers
Okay, give me jammed. It's crazy.
Seth
It's all in the Disney family.
Seth Meyers
Go, go. You're not David Muir. Oh, wow. Oh, David Muir is America's hall pass. I believe. You know when they're like. And David Muir, you know. World News Tonight, America's most watched news program. I think it should say world. David Muir, World News Tonight, America's hall pass. That's what I think. Like, you want to get new viewership. There's your tagline. America's hall pass. America. Back to Seth. Seth.
Albert
Who's your Seth?
Seth Meyers
I'm still thinking about Albert.
Seth
He's so deflecting.
Albert
He's totally spinning.
Seth
We should ask our guests. That's a good one, because they are ready.
Seth Meyers
All right. Are they ready?
Seth
Yeah, we should ask them.
Seth Meyers
Okay, let me tell you. I'm looking at Christina Applegate right now. Jamie Lynn Sigler is underneath us. The way. The way my. No, no, no. I'm telling a story. I'm just telling a story. Calm down, Albert. Don't panic. What I see is behind Christina Applegate is my headboard from my bed.
Christina Applegate
No.
Seth Meyers
Yes. Are you in my bedroom? Yeah. I knew it. I knew that you were Mark's hall pass. I knew it. I knew it. I. You know what? This is the weirdest way to discover the affair.
Christina Applegate
I'm so sorry. I mean, you guys had a good run.
Seth Meyers
We did really fine. I'm totally. Listen, if I lose Mark to you, that will make me happy. I will feel like. Cause I'll still feel like it's in the family.
Christina Applegate
I think we could all just do it together.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, it'll be fine.
Christina Applegate
I need a lot of help.
Seth
Who's their hall passes?
Seth Meyers
I want to know. Yeah, we want to. So we were. Before you two logged on, we were talking about our hall passes. Okay? Now Jan has very. Jan's very lofty. Bob Iger is her hall pass, followed by David Muir. So Jan basically wants to have sex with everyone at abc.
Christina Applegate
Okay.
Seth Meyers
She wants somebody rich and powerful. That's what she wants. Okay, Jamie, who is your hall pass?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Well, you know, I'm in perimenopause, so I'M struggling even wanting to sleep with my own husband. I can't even imagine sleeping with anybody else. But I really, I love Steve Carell in the way that I just would love to be with him all the time. I don't think I want to sleep with him, but I just want to be with him. Is that count as a hall pass?
Seth Meyers
Yes. A perimenopause for sure.
Christina Applegate
Yeah.
Seth Meyers
Wait till you go through menopause and then you essentially only want to have sex with yourself. It's fine, Jan. It's all ahead of you. It's coming to you too. Besides Mark, Christina, who is your hall besides Mark?
Christina Applegate
I have, I have so many that I just want. It's like the same thing with Jamie. Like I don't really want to be touched at all, but to like hang out.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, to hang out someone.
Christina Applegate
Like, I adore my anchorman boys. Like I. When she said Steve Carell, like Paul and Will, like I could sit and hang out with them all day long. But the one person that I have hung out like a four hour dinner who's like my favorite person is Martin Short, like giggling.
Seth Meyers
He's like hysterically for four hours. He's the sweetest. He's the sweetest man. He's a kind person.
Christina Applegate
Yep.
Seth Meyers
I mean, I think he, I think he's a kind person. Please don't tell me he's sinister behind the scenes.
Christina Applegate
No, I can't sit with someone for four hours at dinner if, if, if they're on the whole time. Right. Like it really was his big heart and his big everything and he's also hilarious. So you're entertained.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, exactly. I, I've got to tell you, I've got to congratulate you on the undertaking of Messi, the podcast. It's really broken through. It's helped a lot of people. But I, I would think, Jan, you'd agree, like sometimes the things we do, you know, to put, to put a message out there into the universe really also inadvertently helps ourselves. Do you feel that it has been a cathartic experience for the two of you? You are in this hideous fucked up club that nobody wants to be a member to. It's like a membership nobody wants. And yet I would think that the sisterhood between the two of you and the way you present the hard stuff, you don't sugarcoat anything. But there's like somehow, like it's a very, it's very funny the way you talk about hard shit and I'm laughing. So how do you do that? How does that happen before we even.
Christina Applegate
Jamie, I'm going to have you go. But. But I have to acknowledge something with you, Kelly, is that when I went public with my Ms. Diagnosis, I received from you the. The biggest thing of flowers. You can't say it's a bouquet. It was like its own island of flowers. And the card just said, fuck. And I still have that card.
Seth Meyers
I had a feeling you might receive it in the right way or that we would. Or that we would never speak again.
Christina Applegate
And I was like, I laughed and cried and kept it. It was the only thing I've ever kept that has been sent here. So, anyway, so sorry. Your question, Jamie, how do, how do.
Seth Meyers
You navigate all of this stuff and make it so funny and humorous?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Well, I owe a lot of that to my sister Christina for that. You know, I think that I have lived with the disease for 24 years, have talked about the disease for eight, but the way in which I am able to share and the way in which I've actually been able to sit with myself more through this podcast of how I really feel about this, I think has been life changing for me. And I've in turn, like, Ms. Aside, I really feel like I have gotten to know myself more authentically and like, sat back into my more authentic self because of it. Because when you share these deepest, darkest, scariest things that your fear would be judged or taken the wrong way with such abandon, I mean, what else have you got to lose? And that's just kind of how it's made me feel about my life in.
Seth Meyers
General now and when you are diagnosed 24 years ago. So I'm not being too personal, but you're a very young girl.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Yeah.
Seth Meyers
24 years ago, you are a very young girl. Did you even understand what that was, what they were saying to you, what anybody was talking about?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
No. And I didn't ask and I didn't want to know. It was very easy for me to live in a state of denial. I was not symptomatic at the time. So keeping it a secret, living a lie, felt like the responsible thing to do. I don't know if the business was in a place at the time that they would be as accepting as maybe they are now with those types of things. But it just feels like the right. It felt like the right thing. And I was able to not really be the responsible patient I wish I had been at the time. But I give myself a lot of grace about that because I was a kid, like you said. And, you know, it's been a real journey for me, in all the ways, physically, emotionally, spiritually, with this. But I think we're all given a great thing in our lives that can be a catalyst for a lot of things. And so this coming at that time in my life was mine.
Seth Meyers
You both were child actors. You both grew up in front of our eyes, in front of the camera. Television viewing audiences feel they have a certain ownership, and they want to keep you in the place that you were and how you were when they met you. Do you feel that you received any. I don't know if this is the right word, not pushback, but do you feel that the audience felt like it's something you shouldn't discuss because they want to think about the two of you as being young, carefree little girls for the rest of their lives?
Christina Applegate
Well, for me, when I was diagnosed, I was on camera being diagnosed. I was getting sicker and sicker on film. So I was having to take everyone on the journey with me because I had no choice. I had to finish this season of the show. It was important to me. It was important to our crew. It was important to, you know, Linda and myself and Liz. Like, we had to. Like, we were gonna stop, actually, because it was getting so hard for me to do anything. So anyway, for me, it was kind of like, fuck everyone. Like, this is. This is it right now. Like, you're watching this in real time. I mean, I was taken down in four months. Like, all I had was tingling in my toes. And four months later, I'm not able to walk to set anymore. So I had no choice but to talk about it, to be honest about it. And also, I was embarrassed. Like, there I was. I'd gained 50 pounds from the medications, and I'm sitting in all the scenes, and you can tell that I'm, like, not walking well. Like, I had to be really honest and say, this is the deal, guys. I can't hide this.
Seth Meyers
And so you didn't have that sort of window of time that Jamie had where you sort of came out on your own, on your own volition because you had matured, grown, felt like it was. Would be important to share with people. It just sort of happened to you, like, hit you like a ton of bricks.
Christina Applegate
Yeah, I had to. From day one of filming that year, I was already sick and didn't know it. They were saying that I had peripheral neuropathy for a long time. And then finally my neuro was like, we got to do an MRI on your brain. And he called me and said, I need to talk to you. Today it was a Monday at 7pm and they wanted me to do another scene that night. And I said, I can't, because I have a feeling this is not going to be good news. And I went home from work and got on, and the first thing he said was, I'm so sorry. And that was it. I had to call and go, guys, this is Ms. This is way bigger than we understood. And this is for my life. So it was like scrambling to try to come up with ways to get me to set that it didn't have to be in a wheelchair, but if I was in a wheelchair, so people didn't see it, like, and, you know, not telling the crew right away so that I could process. It was a lot of stuff going on.
Seth Meyers
Okay. So I live in New York City, where everything is a competition, even illness. Like, if. If a person cannot have cancer, because everybody in class is going to tell you how they had cancer worse and how what they went through is worse. And you literally. And I'm not saying I have cancer. That's not what I'm announcing here.
Christina Applegate
Let's knock on our head.
Seth Meyers
Yes. I'm just. I'm just. Yeah, let's knock on everything. Knock on my headboard.
Christina Applegate
How tall is yours? Because mine's six feet tall, so I don't know.
Seth Meyers
Is yours, too? I'm telling you, I'm Albert.
Christina Applegate
You've been in the bed.
Seth Meyers
It looks like you're in my bedroom.
Christina Applegate
That's really funny. Okay.
Seth Meyers
From my vantage point, you could be in my bedroom.
Christina Applegate
Okay.
Seth Meyers
But do you feel like people will come up to you and instead of just, you know, saying thank you for sharing the story, they then feel the urge to regurgitate their story onto you?
Christina Applegate
I get a lot of, like, I know a friend of a friend who cured Ms. Through this, right? And I'm like, that's amazing.
Seth Meyers
Right?
Christina Applegate
Because there's, like, millions of us that still have it, right? And. But congratulations to your friend of your friend's cousins, right?
Seth Meyers
Dogs who ate a grapefruit, and now.
Christina Applegate
It'S gone and they're cured.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
You're like, yeah, that's amazing.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, got it.
Christina Applegate
If that's the case, we'd all be doing a jig, but we can't really dance anymore. Jamie.
Seth Meyers
It'S a good thing Ms. Doesn't affect comic timing.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
That's right. That's right. If anything, it makes it better and darker. I don't know if I get that per se, but I do. You know what I do get, which was a lot of what I didn't want, when I didn't want to come out about it was for this reason. I just didn't want the stares. I didn't want the long looks of sympathy. I don't like that type of attention. I don't do well with that type of attention. It makes me very self conscious, it makes me feel judged, it makes me feel limited. Fortunately, I am surrounded by incredible group of family and friends that do the opposite and like push me to do things that even I think I can't. But I don't like. I don't like the looks of sympathy. Those are the things that bother me the most.
Seth Meyers
Right.
Christina Applegate
And the, and the. How are you? Yeah, are you. And you're like fuck you. Don't even ask me how I am. How do you think I'm doing? You know, it's bubblegum and posies. No, it's not.
Seth Meyers
But in show business it is like a very, it's a shallow business and it's not known for its like circle of like fortitude. Did you feel that people like rallied around you or sort of abandoned you? C A U S E M E t I c s.com off camera did you feel that people like rallied around you or sort of abandoned you? This is to both of you and simultaneously, one at a time, whatever I felt rallied around.
Christina Applegate
But I also didn't want to be around anyone too.
Seth Meyers
Right.
Christina Applegate
You know, there's this whole part of me for the last like almost three and a half years or however long it's been that I just want to be alone. I, I, it's too hard to do things or go places. Like we've talked, you know, Jamie and I have spoken ad nauseam about this. Like the build up to have to do something starts a week before you have to go somewhere. Yeah. It's like this panic that you go through of like okay, are there a lot of stairs? Is you know, what's the weather going to be like what shoes am I going like all that stuff? Right, James?
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
And you just, you know, I think that we have a very unique perspective of living a life for a very long time as an able bodied person and now living as a disabled person. And there are Times where you, like, go up and out about your day. And then especially on a film set where I, like, you were saying, like, we were kid actors, like, you're bred to be good girls. You're bred to just show up, not be a problem, not stand out in a bad way. You know, be really easy to work with, be very likable. So then you give me something like Ms. When I have to show up. And I feel. I mean, I would apologize. I'm so sorry. Like, I don't think I can really, like, walk this long for this scene. And you find yourself just feeling like everything you didn't want to be. But I think that I had to learn over time that me advocating for myself and Christine and I talk all the time about setting boundaries for what we can and can't do is the only way that we can do our jobs. And it takes. For me, it took a very long time to be able to do that without feeling like I needed to apologize constantly for it.
Christina Applegate
Jamie was, like, integral for me because when I was at work, she said, okay, now this is what you have to do. Now. Maybe it took her a longer time because of fear of, you know, saying, hey, you know what? This is the way it is. I can't do all of this stuff.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
And it took them a while to stop asking me if I had another take in me. And when I'm like, at that some point, you have to just be like, guys, let's have a meeting.
Seth Meyers
Right?
Christina Applegate
When I say I can't, I'm really saying I can't. Because you know that I would push. I've been pushing my whole life. Whether it was when I had cancer and working at the same time or breakups and bad things happening in my life, I've always, like, you know, buckle up, buttercup.
Seth Meyers
You bite down on the rag and you go and do it. And like, it's that simple. And what's astounding to me is that flash forward 20 years later, you're in a position where Jamie has to help you navigate how to be on set. Because people still don't get it. They still assume, especially the girls, are gonna not be difficult, not make a problem and give them a thousand takes if they ask for it. Just because. Just because. And so I'm curious, did anybody ever nodding your own head, but did anybody make you feel bad, like, well, we're working with you. What else do you want us to do? We let you do one less take. Did you ever get any of that?
Christina Applegate
I was in a female Run show.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
I think that's all I need to say, you know, like one dude, and he's awesome, Right. His name's Joe and he was amazing. And all they wanted to do was make sure I was okay. Now, when they didn't understand, it would actually get my co star very frustrated. And I remember her, like, saying, hey. She said, no, right? Like, we're done here and I support her in this. And it took that, but it wasn't like someone. They were like, they were upset about it. We were all confused. I mean, I didn't know anything about ms, knowing people that had had it. I didn't know it was going to take me down this way. And so I was so confused and scared and all of that. So it was nice having advocates, to be honest with you. I had advocates, and that felt really, really nice.
Seth Meyers
Yeah. Thank God. I'm just curious about, you know, you're not just working actors, you're also parents, and children are draining, so I'm so curious. On the best day, you feel like you've been hit by a truck. So tell me about navigating Ms. While raising kids. So, Jamie, you have two sons, right?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Yes.
Seth Meyers
And you have Sadie Christina. Right.
Christina Applegate
And she's 13, 14 now.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
14.
Seth Meyers
Oh, God, it's the worst age.
Christina Applegate
I know.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
It's the worst age.
Christina Applegate
See, beach, we're going through some stuff right now.
Seth Meyers
Do you want to send her to live with me for like, six years and then I'll return her when she's.
Christina Applegate
Like, no, I don't get up in the morning with that because, I mean, I get up because of her. That's like, yeah, she's the reason I'm still here and trying. Yeah. But she did say to me, and we got in a big thing the other day, and sorry, Sadie, but it has to be said. She says, I miss who you were before you got sick.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
And that just like, it's like knife to heart because I miss who I was before I got sick, too. Very much so. Every day of my life at such a loss. Anyway, see, now I'm gonna cry. See, this is my problem. I'm either like extremely traumatic and crying, or I'm cracking myself up so I'm never in between. Jamie.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
That'S. That's the truth. It's. It's how it is. And I, I. Those words, I mean, I've have gone through my own head. I think I judge myself the most as a mother through this journey. I think that's been the hardest part for me. I have two Children who react to it in two very different ways. My older son, he looks at me all, you're gonna beat this thing one day, Mom. Like, he's like my own personal Ted Lasso. Like, he thinks. Like, he congratulates me all the time for how hard I work. He tells me I'm doing amazing. He's my cheerleader. My little one hates it. He's mad that I can't run like all the other moms. He points out all the time why he. I walk like an old lady. That's what he says. Or, like, why I can do this and I can't do that. And I think that's very healthy and I welcome it. And I want him to be able to express himself with me. I don't want him to feel. Feel bad because of how he feels about this, because this affects our entire family. My husband has to make sacrifices every day. So do my kids. For me, so do I. But this is just. I'm the mom they chose, and that's what I have to kind of remind myself all the time.
Seth Meyers
Can you tell me about your. I know, like, each treatment is, like, individualized. It's, like, patient specific. And. And. But do they give you. Is it. Are you constantly in a space where you are experimenting? This didn't work, so we're going to try this. That stopped working. Now we try this. And so when that happens, do you have, like, these great, like, spans of hope and things are getting better and then it's crushed. Walk me through that roller coaster.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
That's.
Seth Meyers
That's like.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
I mean, I think that's where this can sort of be universal for people. Do you know what I mean? When it comes to healing and whatever they're looking for in their lives. But yes. Look, when you're living with something like Ms. And something comes across your algorithm or your feed of, like, it's parasites, or it's, you got to do this or you got to do that. Like, I would be lying if I didn't say that I don't scroll through and do all my. Like, should we try this? Should we try this? Or days that. I have a couple of bad days. Next thing you know, my husband's up all night, like, researching, like, well, I heard of this stem cell in this country, and. Yes. And have I tried a lot of things? Yes. Have been. Have I been heartbroken hundreds of times? Yes. I would say the one thing that I'm consistent with is my Ms. Medication. But as far as anything experimental on top of that, I mean, how could we not be open to it. How could we not be open to something that could potentially change our lives? And I do have a lot of hope. And sometimes I get mad at myself for the hope and I get down at myself for having it. But we're still young in so many ways. So it's just. It's just hard to think that you would go through your life until you die and never feel better.
Christina Applegate
I was going to say, because I want to ask you this, Jamie, is that my neurologist has stopped my infusions for now because my B cells were still really low. So this is like what we deal with is like they want to kill your B cells. It's like almost like a chemo, but not. But it is because it's doing something really gnarly. But she's stopped me and now I'm flipping out. Not stopped completely, but like, it's been almost a year now since I've had one. And I'm scared, to be honest with you, that if I wait too long, am I. Is my getting worse because I'm not doing it, I guess. I don't know. These are my questions that I think about this every day.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
I think you have to put your. Your trust in your doctor. But also I think what I have gotten really good at is listening to my gut and my own intuition, because at the end of the day, it's your body and nobody knows it more than you. And I've had to speak up for myself many times about changes that need to be made or things that I felt were right or not right. But it's a full time job. It's a full time job to live with a chronic illness. There's never a day that you can just take a day off from not thinking about it, you know?
Christina Applegate
Yeah, it's a lot of management. Like today, I was gonna say, like a couple days ago, I had to go out and I had to do a lot of walking. And like, I pushed, I pushed, I pushed because I didn't want to, like, take focus away from where we were. And like today I like fell going to the bathroom. Like, you know, you never know what's gonna happen. It's really such a bizarre condition disease that you can be like, oh, okay, I did that. I went hours and, you know, stuff. And then I got up today and I was like, oh, this is great. I'm gonna end up soiling myself because I can't get to the bathroom. Like, it's just that kind of thing. It's really so fucking Weird.
Seth Meyers
How often do you talk to your doctor and do you have the kind of relationship with her where you can say, I feel that at this stage, I really need an infusion right now.
Christina Applegate
I. I've been on it, like, constantly. And they're like, let's wait till May to do your next blood test. And if my cells have gone up, then I'm doing a disservice to myself, too. So I, like, want to do. I call her all the time, like, can I just do the. The blood work? And she's like, no, because you don't need it right now. But so then we get into, like, a thing, you know, where it's, like, back and forth where I'm, like, begging, like, please. Like, please. And she's like, it's too hard on your body. And I don't want you taking it too much because it is. It's the.
Seth Meyers
It wipes you.
Christina Applegate
It's. It knocks you down. Your immune system goes to, like, for a little while.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
So it's. Yeah, it's gnarly, but I don't know. I don't even know what I'm talking.
Seth Meyers
Well, when your immune system goes to sweating.
Christina Applegate
Because now I'm mad at my doctor. Now I'm, like, really mad. Like, look at my glasses. They're fogging up.
Seth Meyers
No, it's okay. I am pissed off.
Christina Applegate
Listen, I'm about to make phone calls in a minute.
Seth Meyers
There's a reason our podcast is off camera so that nobody ever is also off camera. I don't understand these people that want to do a podcast and be seen. My goal is to get my talk show off camera. Like, I just want to do the talk show.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
You're too pretty.
Seth Meyers
No, but I feel like we could do it, like, behind a scrim or a screen and just. You know what I mean? Like, Jan and I talk about this a lot. When the shit hits the fan, you really find out who your friends are. You really find out who's, like, a true blue and who is See you later. And have you. Have you experienced that? Has it been mostly a pleasant surprise, or have you been like, has there been a person that has shocked you with their lack of support for me?
Christina Applegate
No. I've had a very small. I have live in a very small bubble of friends. They're not in the industry. They're not actors, they're bartenders. They're, you know, hairstylists. Like, very small. That I've known for 30 plus years. That's my crew, and they are Ride or Die. So for Me, if anything, I have to turn them away, right? From wanting to come see me because I'm like, I'm re watching New Girl again, so I don't want you here. I. I wanna. I wanna watch New Girl alone.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Christina Applegate
And giggle. It's such a good show. We should all revisit it.
Seth Meyers
Sorry.
Christina Applegate
So I had that, but I did. When I had cancer, I. I was friends with some people in this industry and I got an email from one of them that says, I can't be friends with you anymore because you have cancer. That's all? Yeah, that's all. We're not going to mention who it was. We're not going to mention under the circumstances, but that was an email I got and I was like, you're fucking kidding me. What? That was it never talked to this person again.
Seth Meyers
You have to tell me off camera.
Christina Applegate
Off camera, you're gonna be shocked.
Seth Meyers
And then I will kill them. Because I'm from New Jersey. Jamie, with respect to your show that I watched, and I was like, what's the problem? This is just New Jersey. This isn't even. This is not a mob show. This is just a Life in New Jersey show.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Oh, man.
Christina Applegate
Yeah, that one. That one still gets me sweaty. And that was in 2008. And I still get sweaty. Look at him fogging up again.
Seth Meyers
So, like, what gets you through the hard days? Like, is there a thing that either one of you, both of you do, that gets you through, like, a shit day?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
So I used to, for a long time, only ever go through my shit days alone. I didn't think that anyone could ever have the space to hold for it. I didn't feel like it was the right thing for me to do to put it on anyone. And that took its toll. So I have gotten better thanks to some urging by my friends to reach out. In fact, it got so bad at one point where I think I was struggling so much in. My friends knew and I wasn't saying anything, that we all got together for like, a little brunch. And I thought, you know, it's just a normal thing. And they all looked at me and they were like, jamie, we will not let you leave this table until you scream. And I was like, what are you talking about? They're like, we can't watch you muscle through this anymore without telling us. It's hard. Like, it's getting awkward for us. Sometimes when you're just like, I'm fine. I'm like, they always say on my tombstone, it'll say I'm fine. Like, please just let us in on this with you. We want to be here for you. And it was a really life changing moment for me when they did that. Because we're not, we're not meant as human beings to go through anything alone, you know, And I didn't do anything to deserve this. I've done a lot of work around all of the terrible and wrong beliefs that I've had around why this is in my life. And in the end of the day I just have to accept it, but that doesn't mean that I have to go through the shitty days alone. Yeah, and then there's Bravo.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, and then I was gonna say Bravo.
Christina Applegate
That's it, Bravo. We had Andy on us just recently and I know you two are, yeah, close. Andy, that was like our most exciting guest, like, I think probably ever for us in that sense of like, we're such, we are such Bravo obsessed geek fans.
Seth Meyers
Well, here's the thing. He, like, he's not just like a vanity produce, he is in it. You know what I mean? Like, he, you're so lucky he's.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
That you have him on your speed dial.
Seth Meyers
Well, listen to this. So I'm going to tell us more, please. My, my. So my son graduated film school in 2020, the pandemic of 2020. And, and he had a couple of jobs lined up out in la. They quickly vanished and Jan found. What was, what was that? Was it. What's the resume place that you told him to check, to put, put his resume on.
Seth
Oh, staff me up.
Seth Meyers
Staff me up. So she, Jan is like, listen, nothing is shooting. The industry is closed down. You should go on staff me up and see if you can get a job like as a day producer on anything. Just like, just work is work, right? So he's like, you know, he's this young kid and so he starts getting, you know, day hires on a cooking show, on this kind of show, that kind of show. Slowly but surely he starts, he starts getting work regularly and we're happy because he's finally off the tit. And I'm like, okay, great, we got one out of the house and he's got jobs and now he can pay his own rent. And this is great. And so he tells Mark and me at dinner, oh, I've got this new job. It's, it's pretty cool. And I was like, oh, what is it? And he's like, well, I can't tell you. I had to sign an NDA. And I was like, you had to sign an NDA? We paid for your fucking film school.
Christina Applegate
You were telling us.
Seth Meyers
Now you were telling you will tell us. And he's like, no, I can't. I signed an NDA. And it's like, if I tell you, then I'm not a trustworthy person. And I was like, okay, fine. So all of a sudden I'm at work and he goes, hey, mom. He sends me a picture of a Cookie monster cupcake. And he goes. He goes, check this out. Is this the bakery where you used to get my cupcakes when I was a little kid? He sends me this text and I go, are you filming Teresa Giudice's wedding for the Real Housewives of New Jersey? And he was like, what? And I go, is that where you are right now? Cause it was summer. It was summer. He's at a bakery that I know very well. It's a wedding bakery, but they also sell other shit, like kids cupcakes. And that is where I used to get his cupcakes. And I was like, you are in Franklin Lakes, New Jersey, and you are filming the Real Housewives of New Jersey Teresa's wedding. And I know it. I know. I don't even get.
Christina Applegate
I don't.
Seth Meyers
I don't care. I know that's what you're doing. And that was like his first, like, big time job. Big time.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
What a moment.
Seth Meyers
But now he's.
Seth
Now he's a producer on New York.
Seth Meyers
He does all the Real Housewives New Jersey summer house. Summer house. Are you so proud? Oh, my God. Do you know what I do every time I see a picture of his name on Jenna Lyons tit? I freeze frame the TV and I take a picture and I send it to him. I'm like, jenna line's tit. Or like, then I'm like, I like, I just like whoever's tit he's on, I'm like, melissa Gorgas tit. And I just send it to him. I'm like, you're on Melissa Gorgas Tit. Like, I love seeing his name in the credits.
Christina Applegate
That is so exciting for us.
Seth Meyers
So cool.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
So cool.
Seth Meyers
I would say, I would say have him on the podcast, but he won't tell you anything.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
He won't tell me anything.
Christina Applegate
I was going to say, we really want you on, but I think now we're to going. I think we're gonna bump you.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Can you just at least send us photos? We just would love the photos. Just send us like little photos and we'll try to, you know, investigate or guess where. Where he's at.
Seth
We got mentioned on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this season because of Kyle.
Seth Meyers
Yes.
Seth
And Dorit because Dorit was mad that Kyle went on our podcast.
Seth Meyers
Kyle went and they mentioned it on the.
Seth
On the show.
Christina Applegate
And we're like, we made it.
Seth Meyers
We're finally made it.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
I get it.
Seth Meyers
We're like, like our little podcast is on Beverly Hills Housewives. We are now housewives famous.
Christina Applegate
You made the big time, Kelly. You finally made it.
Seth Meyers

This visit bedsider.org today.
Seth Meyers
Have you interviewed a housewife yet, besides Andy?
Christina Applegate
No, no, we're reaching out to a couple right now.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Yeah, we're a little. We have Jesse from summer house.
Christina Applegate
Yeah, we have Jesse Solomon.
Seth Meyers
Okay, that's. That counts.
Christina Applegate
I was actually asked many years ago, before Sadie was born actually, to be a Beverly Hills housewife and. Okay, so this is the funniest thing about it. I was like, hell, no. First of all, no. And second of all, I sit here, right? Like, what? I don't like going anywhere. So I don't like eating big meals. I don't like hair and makeup. Like, all the things that it was like. It's like, my nightmare. And so my daughter starts elementary school, and we meet this beautiful couple, and one of them is the executive producer here for Beverly Hills. And I said, oh, yeah, that's so weird. I was asked. He goes, yeah, I'm the one who asked. It was before I had met him.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Wow.
Christina Applegate
And I said, do you regret that I didn't do it? He goes, oh, my God. You'd be the most boring fucking housewife on the planet. Like, well, because the worst.
Seth Meyers
You're not. Here's the thing. And I say this with love and respect, right? I say this with love and respect. You're a very pragmatic, not unhinged person. And I think there has to be a certain level of really wild thinking and wild behavior. And I feel like, you know, I can say this to you because we are so similar. I never leave my house. I don't go anywhere. I don't do anything. And I. Besides my job, like, besides going to my job, I just immediately come home, and then I'm back in my sweats, and I'm back in bed, and I'm watching reality tv. So that's like. Like, unless, like, I would be the kind of housewife where they'd be like, I guess we're gonna go shoot Kelly watching other housewife franchises. It's gonna be the weirdest episode ever, right? Like, that would be your episode.
Christina Applegate
Yeah. He was giggling so hard when we were talking about it because he was like, knowing you now, he's like, I would have never asked. Like, honestly. Cause he knows that, like, I'm dirty. I rarely take a shower. I don't like to leave the house. I'm a little curmudgeony. I roll my eyes a fuck ton at people.
Seth Meyers
Well, that would be good to watch, though. That would be good.
Christina Applegate
That'd be like, ugh. Like, one time I did that somewhere, and my assistant, like, hit me. She's like, your face. You're literally listening to someone and you're making faces at them as if you want to kill them. I was like, now it goes, yeah.
Seth Meyers
When they tell you, smile, Kelly, smile. Do they ever say smile? And I'm like, I am smiling. And I'm like, in my head, I think I'm smiling. Why does it not look that way.
Christina Applegate
No. My daughter was saying when, you know, she misses who I was, she's like, you just always look mad. I was like, I never looked mad before because I was mad.
Seth Meyers
Yeah, I was pissed off a lot.
Christina Applegate
Of people all the time, but I guess I just look super duper mad all the time, except for when I'm cracking myself up.
Seth Meyers
You said you're taking a break from acting. Do you see a. A world in which it's just a temporary break? You go back once you're. Once your health is like.
Christina Applegate
We had Judd Apatow on. Well, he's coming up. I don't know when at some point, but we interviewed him last week, and both of us were like, we will do whatever to be in one of your movies, and you can write a whole scene with us just sitting, and we're gonna be really good. Waist up. We're gonna be really good.
Seth Meyers
That would be like, a really funny scene.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Well, you know, it's just because there is so much humor and heart when it comes to this type of storytelling. But for me, I think that, like, I have done so much acting where we worked around this, and I've been very grateful to the employers and the crew and the teams of people that have made me feel comfortable and have made that possible. But I am now at this point where, like, whenever I'm up for a role or I'm talking about a project, I'm like, well, this. This is what I come with. So as long as you're okay with me walking this way, like, I don't want to cover this up anymore. I'm doing myself a disservice. I'm doing Ms. Community disservice. Like, this doesn't define my life. I have many roles in my life. I have a very full life. And I think it's, at least for me, a tricky thing to find exactly what that right thing will be. And if I don't find it, I don't find it. But I don't want to deal with the stress of trying to pretend I'm something that I'm not anymore.
Christina Applegate
I think Jamie has it. She's so much stronger than I am. Like, I don't know if you follow her on Instagram. Hold on a second. You were at a festival, dude, for what, a couple of days?
Jamie Lynn Sigler
But did you see how I look? So I go, my husband helps put on a country music festival here in Texas every year. It's called Cattle Country. It's so fun. But I walk around, I hold on to My girlfriends, when we have to go across the thing, my husband literally throws me in a rag wagon with my cowboy boots hanging off the side and pushes me across. We figure it out. They set me up in a corner near a pole and I dance to all the people. You know, I figure you figure out ways to still participate in your life, and that's what time has given me.
Christina Applegate
And in hot.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
We'll get there.
Christina Applegate
Jean shorts. Hot jean shorts with gorgeous olive colored, beautiful legs. She's the most.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
You love my legs.
Seth Meyers
Jamie's. Jamie's sexy.
Christina Applegate
I'm a sexy with Jamie's legs. Like, I can't.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
I don't.
Christina Applegate
But I was just. As you were talking, Jamie, I was like, why can't we play characters that like. Because our walking is a little compromised. That they just dance when they walk? Like, they kind of do like a. Like everything's like a little weird, a little awkward.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
You could teach us that. You're the perfect gal for that. Let's do it.
Seth Meyers
I feel, I feel like Judd Apatow needs to write this buddy comedy for the two of you. I really do. Listen, I think it would be. I'd love it. I love his writing anyway. I think he understands women. I really do. Like, I think he gets it.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Well, he was saying that Leslie really does that for him. He was. It was cool. He was saying in the interview that she really helps him get the perspective of the woman when he's writing.
Seth Meyers
Yeah.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
We were talking about how great she is. Because my friends and I all say that Leslie man is a verb because, you know, when kids fuck with your kids, it unleashes apart a rage inside of you. Like the thing, things I've wanted to say to other 10 year old children, I'm not proud of, but like I said, I'm like, I want to go full Leslie Mann on those children.
Seth Meyers
Out of that person.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Yeah, that's right.
Seth Meyers
I got it.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
That's right.
Seth Meyers
But those kids always have moms, just so you know.
Christina Applegate
Of course they do.
Seth Meyers
They always. It's like, for sure. Well, I gotta tell you, I loved having you both on the podcast. Thank you so much for being here.
Christina Applegate
We love being with you. We could talk to you for hours. You need to come on ours and then we need to come to New York and we want to come see you.
Seth Meyers
Please.
Christina Applegate
I know it's been too long.
Seth Meyers
Listen, I love seeing both of you and I wish you all good health. I, I honestly, it's like, I wish I could. I wish I could infuse you with good Health right now. You know, I have nothing but love and well wishes for you. And I want to remind our listeners, don't forget to check out Jamie and Christina's podcast. You're not the only one with a podcast, Albert. It's called Messy. It's incredible. It will make you feel things and you will be utterly entertained and moved. And thank you so much.
Christina Applegate
Thanks, Kelly.
Jamie Lynn Sigler
Thank you so much.
Christina Applegate
I love you, girl.
Seth Meyers
Love you so much.
Christina Applegate
Always have. We've always said we're gonna be best friends.
Seth Meyers

Christina Applegate

Seth Meyers
Oh, five o' clock drive. That's right. We're doing all sex.
Seth

Seth Meyers
We're doing all sex. Because five o' clock is the horn dog hour.
Albert
That's right.
Seth Meyers
So get your horn dogs ready because we're discussing.
Seth
We might talk about a few other things in sex. But yes, there will be sex.
Seth Meyers
There will be sex, but mostly sex. Jan will. Albert will tell you where to get a cheesesteak on the turnpike.

Seth Meyers
