I’m calling this episode “Youth, Age and Humility.“ Design: Jason Paschall | Photo: Mick Haupt on Unsplash Summary 1 Peter 5:1-6 emphasizes important aspects of leadership and humility within a community. Peter instructs older members to guide and care for God’s flock sincerely, not for personal gain, by setting a positive example rather than exerting dominance. Younger individuals are encouraged to show respect and submission to their elders. Both elders and young people should embrace humility and learn from each other. Listen to the episode for more! One Year Bible coming to you from Riverside, California and podcasting since 2004. My name is Steve Webb. I’m your OG Godcaster. It’s epistle Sunday and we’ll complete the book of First Peter with the reading of chapters four and five. The website is Lifespringmedia.com. and I’ll tell you how to get in contact with me at the end of today’s show. Now I have not forgotten to put the pictures of our Alaska trip on the show notes page for yesterday’s show. Lifespringmedia.com slash s 13 e 315. I’m still playing catch up with all the chores here in Lifespring central like mowing the lawns that had totally overgrown while we were gone. When I got home in the collect, there was a forest in my front yard. I like to be a good neighbor and keep the place looking nice. So that had to be done before anything else and I’ll get the picks up. Probably tomorrow. Before we read. Let’s pray. Our Heavenly Father, we thank you so much for the time you’ve given us to read and study your word and I pray that You would bless this time teach us Lord in touch our hearts. We pray this in Jesus name, amen. Okay, are you ready? Let’s begin. Steve Webb 1:12First Peter chapter four, since Christ suffered while he was in his body, Strengthen yourselves with the same way of thinking Christ had. The person who has suffered in the body is finished with sin. strengthen yourself so that you will live here on earth doing what God wants, not the evil things people want. In the past, you wasted too much time doing what non believers enjoy. You are guilty of sexual sins, evil desires, drunkenness, wild and drunken parties, and hateful idol worship. nonbelievers think it is strange that you do not do the many wild and wasteful things they do so they insult you. But they will have to explain this to God who was ready to judge the living and the dead. For this reason, the good news was preached to those who are now dead. Even though they were judged. Like all people, the good news was preached to them so that they could live in the spirit as God lives. The time is near when all things will end. So think clearly and control yourselves so you will be ready to pray. Most importantly, love each other deeply. Because love will cause people to forgive each other for many sins. Open your homes to each other without complaining. Each of you has received a gift to us to serve others be good servants of God’s various gifts of grace. Anyone who speaks should speak words from God. Anyone who serves should serve with the strength God gives so that in everything God will be praised through Jesus Christ, power and glory belongs to Him forever and ever. Amen. My friends, do not be surprised at the terrible trouble which now comes to test you. Do not think that something strange is happening to you. But be happy that you are sharing in Christ’s sufferings so that you will be happy and full of joy when Christ comes again in glory. When people insult you, because you follow Christ, you are blessed. Because the glorious spirit the spirit of God is with you. Do not suffer for murder, theft or any other crime nor because you trouble other people. But if you suffer because you’re a Christian, do not be ashamed. Praise God, because you were that name. It is time for judgment to begin with God’s family. and if that judging begins with us what will happen to those people who do not obey the good news of God, if it is very hard for a good person to be saved, the wicked person in the center will surely be lost. So those who suffer as God wants should trust their souls to the faithful Creator, as they continue to do what is right. Steve Webb 3:43First Peter, chapter five. Now I have something to say to the elders in your group. I also am an elder. I have seen Christ’s sufferings that I will share in the glory that will be shown to us. I beg you to shepherd GOD’s flock for whom you are responsible. Watch over them because you want to not because you’re forced. This is how God wants it. Do it because you’re happy to serve. Not because you want money. Do not be like a ruler over people you’re responsible for, but be good examples to them. Then when Christ the chief Shepherd comes, you will get a glorious crown that will never lose its beauty. In the same way, younger people should be willing to be under older people. and all of you should be very humble with each other. God is against the proud, but he gives grace to the humble. Be humble under God’s powerful hand, so he will lift you up when the right time comes. Give all your worries to him because he cares about you. Control yourselves and be careful. The devil your enemy goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat. refuse to give in to him by standing strong and your faith. You know that your Christian family all over the world is having the same kinds of suffering. and after you suffer for a short A time God who gives all grace will make everything right. He will make you strong and support you and keep you from falling. He called you to share in His glory in Christ, a glory that will continue forever. All power is his forever and ever. Amen. I wrote this short letter with the help of Silas, who I know is a faithful brother in Christ, I wrote to encourage you and to tell you that this is the true grace of God, stand strong in that grace. The church in Babylon who was chosen like you, sends you greetings, Mark, my son in Christ also greets you give each other a kiss of Christian love when you meet peace to all of you who are in Christ. Steve Webb 5:45In today’s comments, I’d like to address chapter five verses one through six, Peter tells the older members to be shepherds to GOD’s flock from a sincere desire and not for money, and to do so by providing a good example. Not by lording it over them. and then he tells the younger folks that they should be willing to submit to the older people. and he wraps up this section by saying that they should all be very humble with each other. These verses grabbed my attention, because I’ve been involved in the church since I was in my teens. So ...

Transcript Today’s Bible Translation Bible translation used in today’s episode: Ch. 13 NIV, Ch. 14 NLT Executive Producer Anonymous Associate Producer Michael Haner Podcast Introduction It’s Gospels Saturday, and we’ll read chapters 13-14 of the book of Acts. I’m calling this episode “Shake Off Rejection.“ Design: Jason Paschall | Photo: Ben White on Unsplash Summary In Acts 13, Paul and Barnabas began their first missionary journey under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The church at Antioch supported and sent them off after fasting, praying, and laying hands on them. Despite facing challenges and rejection in certain places, the missionaries remained steadfast. They demonstrated resilience by shaking the dust off their feet when rejected in Antioch of Pisidia. The lesson here is that following God’s will doesn’t guarantee instant success. Difficulties are to be expected, because the enemy opposes the growth of the church. But opposition should not deter believers, as God’s will will be accomplished. These challenges serve as confirmation of being on the right path, and we should embrace them with joy. Listen to the episode for more! Support This a value for value podcast. Yeah, there are just 50 more episodes left before we land this plane, the pilots beginning to feather the throttle back just a bit as he begins to bring her in. Before we read, let’s pray. Our heavenly Father, Lord, we thank you so much that we’re back together again and we ask that You would bless our time of reading today. In Jesus name we pray, amen. Are you ready? Let’s begin. Steve Webb 1:04Haggai chapter one. In the second year of King Darius, in the sixth month, on the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai, the prophet to Zerubbabel, the son of che LTL, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehoahaz. Adak, the high priest, saying, Thus speaks the Lord of hosts, saying, This people says, The time has not come, the time that the Lord’s house should be built. Then the word of the Lord came by Haggai, the Prophet saying, Is it time for you yourself to dwell in Your paneled houses and this temple to lie in ruins. Now, therefore, Thus says the Lord of hosts, consider your ways, you have sown much and bring in little you eat, but do not have enough, you drink but you are not filled with drink, you clothe yourselves, but no one is warm, and he who earns wages earns wages to put into a bag with holes. Thus says the Lord of hosts, consider your ways, go up to the mountains and bring wood and build the temple, that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the Lord. You looked for much, but indeed it came to little. and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why, says the Lord of hosts, because of my house that is in ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house, therefore, the heavens above you withhold the do and the earth with holds its fruit, for I called for a drought on the land, and the mountains on the grain and the new wine and the oil on whatever the ground brings forth on men and livestock, and on all the labor of your hands. Then the rubble the son of Shealtiel, and Joshua, the son of Jehovah Dak, the high priest, with all the remnant of the people obeyed the voice of the LORD their God, and the words of Haggai the prophet as the Lord their God had sent him, and the people feared the presence of the Lord. Then Haggai, the Lord’s Messenger spoke the Lord’s message to the people saying, I am with you, says the Lord. So the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel, the son of Shri LTL, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua, the son of Jehovah, DAC, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people. and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts their god on the 24th day of the six month in the second year of King Darius Steve Webb 3:21Haggai, chapter two. In the seventh month, on the 21st, day of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai, the Prophet saying, Speak now to Zerubbabel, the son of Shri ltot, governor of Judah, and to Joshua, the son of Jehovah DAC the high priest, and to the remnant of the people saying, who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? and how do you see it now? In comparison with it? Is it not in your eyes as nothing? Yet now be strong to rubble says the Lord and be strong Joshua, son of Jehovah DAC the high priest, and be strong all you people of the land, says the Lord, and work for I am with you, says the Lord of hosts, according to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so my spirit remains among you do not fear. For thus says the Lord of hosts. Once more, it is a little while I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land, and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the desire of all nations. and I will fill this template with glory says the Lord of hosts, the silver is mine, and the gold is mine says the Lord of hosts. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former says the Lord of hosts. and in this place I will give peace says the Lord of hosts. On the 24th day of the ninth month, in the second year of Darius, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the Prophet saying, Thus says the Lord of hosts, now asked the priests concerning the law saying, if one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil or any food Will it become holy? Then the priests answered and said, No. and Haggai said, If one who was unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean? So the priests answered and said, It shall be unclean. Then Haggai answered and said, so is this people, and so is this nation before me, says the Lord, and so is every work of their hands, and what they offer there is unclean. and now carefully consider from this day forward, from before stone was laid upon stone and the temple of the Lord, since those days when one came to a heap of 20 isas, there were but 10 When one came to the wine vet to dry out 50 baths from the press, there were but 20 I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands. Yet you did not turn to Me, says the Lord. Consider now from this day forward from the 24th day of the ninth month, from the day that the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid, consider it is the seeds still in the barn. As yet, the vine, the fig tree, the pomegranate and the olive tree have not yielded fruit, but from this day, I will bless you. and again word of the Lord came to Haggai on the 24th day of the month, saying, Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah, saying, I will shake Heaven and Earth, I will overthrow the throne of kingdoms, I will destroy the strength of the Gentile ...

Transcript Today’s Bible Translation Bible translation used in today’s episode: Ch. 5 ERV, Ch. 6 CEV Podcast Introduction LeeAnn and I got back from Alaska at about 10 o’clock last night after about 36 hours of travel. And in case you can’t tell from my voice, I have a raging cold. Last week we were on a bus with a bunch of people going to a site in Alaska, and sitting about two or three rows in front of us was a guy that had a terrible cough, and he generously wanted to share with everyone around him. I didn’t see him cover his mouth once. So I came down with the first symptoms about 4 days ago, and LeeAnn the day after that. Sore throat, body aches, cough, headache. You get the idea. All that to say that it’s good to be back with you, but I’m going to put off telling you about our vacation until I’m somewhat recovered. As a matter of fact, today I’m going to replay last year’s Eccl 5-6 episode today. I hope that’s ok with you. Design: Jason Paschall | Photo: Ben White on Unsplash Comments on Ecclesiastes 5-6 Solomon begins chapter 5 with good advice. When coming to the house of God, it’s better to listen than to run your head (as my dad would say). Actually, that’s good advice in most situations, don’t you think? You can’t learn much when you’re talking. But when coming before the Lord, listening will always be more beneficial than speaking. And then Solomon went on to say that money will never buy happiness. In fact, the more money you have, the more worries you have, according to Solomon. He said, the best thing is to eat, drink and enjoy the work you have. At this point, Solomon, in all his wisdom, is forgetting something very important. He’s looking at life from a very limited viewpoint. He’s looking at life almost as one who has no relationship with God. When you leave God out of the equation, it’s very easy to have a fatalistic view of the world. We’ll get into this in more detail when we get to chapter 8. But for now, I’ll just say that the deeper your relationship with God, the more meaning you find in life. There is a reason you’re here, if you are His. He has a purpose for your life. You matter. One of the saddest things in scripture, in my opinion, is in chapter 6, verses 3-6. “3You may live a long time and have a hundred children. But a child born dead is better off than you, unless you enjoy life and have a decent burial. 4-5That child will never live to see the sun or to have a name, and it will go straight to the world of darkness. But it will still find more rest than you, 6even if you live two thousand years and don’t enjoy life. As you know, we all end up in the same place.” Isn’t that pathetic? “A child born dead is better off than you, unless you enjoy life and have a decent burial.” Reminds me of Eeyore from Winnie the Pooh. ((((Insert clip)))) I told you as we began this book that it’s important to hang in there until the end. We’ll have three more visits to Ecclesiastes. We’re halfway through. It does get better. But before I sign off today, let me again encourage you with the thought that in Christ, life is full of meaning. If you’re looking for meaning outside of Him, you’re looking in all the wrong places, as the song says. If you want to have eternal meaning, it is only in Jesus. Steve Webb 2:20Ecclesiastes, chapter 5. Be very careful when you go to worship God. It is better to listen to God than to give sacrifices like fools. Fools often do bad things, and they don’t even know it. Be careful when you make promises to God. Be careful about what you say to him. Don’t let your feelings cause you to speak too soon. God is in heaven, and you are on the earth. So you need to say only a few things to him. This saying is true: Bad dreams come from too many worries, and too many words come from the mouth of a fool. If you make a promise to God, keep your promise. Don’t be slow to do what you promised. God is not happy with fools. Give God what you promised to give him. It is better to promise nothing than to promise something and not be able to do it. So don’t let your words cause you to sin. Don’t say to the priest, “I didn’t mean what I said.” If you do this, God might become angry with your words and destroy everything you have worked for. You should not let your useless dreams and bragging bring you trouble. You should respect God. ...

One Year Bible coming to you from Riverside, California, and podcasting since 2004, my name is Steve Webb, and I’m your OG Godcaster. It’s Psalms Wednesday, and we’ll read chapters 128 through 130. This is the last day of our vacation. So Lord willing, I’ll be back with you tomorrow with a fresh episode. I’m looking forward to seeing you again. I’ll share some highlights from our trip. Before we read, let’s pray. Our heavenly Father, we thank you for this time together. We thank you for your Word, and we pray that as we read today, you would touch our hearts. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen. All right, are you ready? Let’s begin. Steve Webb 0:42Psalm 128 is one of the fifteen Songs of Ascent which were sung by those who were making the journey to Jerusalem during one of the three feasts: Passover, Pentecost, and Tabernacles. Steve Webb 0:55Psalms, chapter 128. Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways! You shall eat the fruit of the labor of your hands; you shall be blessed, and it shall be well with you. Your wife will be like a fruitful vine within your house; your children will be like olive shoots around your table. Behold, thus shall the man be blessed who fears the Lord. The Lord bless you from Zion! May you see the prosperity of Jerusalem all the days of your life! May you see your children’s children! Peace be upon Israel! Steve Webb 1:32Psalm 129 is another Song of Ascent and commentator Derek Kidner wrote of this one, “Whereas most nations tend to look back on what they’ve achieved, Israel reflects here on what she has survived. It could be a disheartening exercise, for Zion still has its ill-wishers. But the singers take courage from the past, facing God with gratitude and their enemies with defiance.” Steve Webb 1:58Psalms, chapter 129. “Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth”— let Israel now say— “Greatly have they afflicted me from my youth, yet they have not prevailed against me. The plowers plowed upon my back; they made long their furrows.” The Lord is righteous; he has cut the cords of the wicked. May all who hate Zion be put to shame and turned backward! Let them be like the grass on the housetops, which withers before it grows up, with which the reaper does not fill his hand nor the binder of sheaves his arms, nor do those who pass by say, “The blessing of the Lord be upon you! We bless you in the name of the Lord!” Steve Webb 2:41Psalm 130 is also another Song of Ascent. And this one begins with a remembrance of God’s rescue from the darkness of guilt, and then it rises a step at a time to a place of encouraging a trust in God. This is one of the seven penitential psalms, the others being Psalms 6, 32, 38, 51, 102 and 143. These are psalms that speak of sin and the assurance of forgiveness. James Montgomery Boice wrote of this one, “On the afternoon of that same day, which his heart was strangely warmed, and he truly trusted in Jesus for salvation, John Wesley attended a Vespers service at St. Paul’s Cathedral. In the course of which Psalm 130 was sung as an anthem. Wesley was greatly moved by the anthem and it became one of the means God used to open his heart to the gospel of salvation.” Steve Webb 3:36Psalms, chapter 130. Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord! O Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my pleas for mercy! If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But with you there is forgiveness, that you may be feared. I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; my soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen for the morning, more than watchmen for the morning. O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is plentiful redemption. And he will redeem Israel from all his iniquities. Steve Webb 4:21Well, Beloved, let’s talk for a bit about Psalm 128. Verse 1 says, “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways!” You know, I don’t think I’ve ever really talked much about what it is to be blessed. The verse said, “Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.” Well, what does that actually mean? I mean, that’s a pretty inclusive statement, right? Blessed is everyone. Well, you’ve probably heard that blessed means happy, but just in my own experience, I can tell you that I have not been, nor am I always, now, happy. The human experience is never one of continual happiness, is it? I mean, all of us have times of trial, tragedy, and heartbreak whether or not we fear the Lord and walk in his ways. Perfect example is Job. He feared the Lord and walked in his ways, but I can’t think of any point in the first 41 out of 42 chapters that we could say, “Yeah, he should be happy right now.” So to be blessed must mean more than to just be happy. But wait a minute, maybe we need to look at the definition of happy. Well, the Cambridge dictionary definition of happy is “feeling, showing or causing pleasure or satisfaction”. Merriam-Webster says, “favored by luck or fortune; enjoying or characterized by well-being and contentment, glad or pleased.” Okay. And let’s do one more. Dictionary.com says “happy” is “delighted, pleased or glad as over a particular thing, to feel joy; be glad; or rejoice.” So from these we can say that to be happy is more than just a light, giddy feeling that comes as a result of some sort of an event, right? A recent event in my life that made me happy was the birth of my latest grandchild. When Penny was born, I was happy that she and her mom were healthy and doing well. It makes me happy when a Lifespring family member sends an email or comments on the show notes page. That makes me happy when you do that. But life is not just about those moments, is it? We all have times of loss, the illness, disappointments, and in those times, happiness is nowhere to be found. But the verse says, “Blessed is…” Now “is” conveys the meaning of constancy, an enduring state of being. When God appeared to Moses in the burning bush, Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they asked me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” And God said, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’” Well, “am” as in I AM is a form of the ...

Manasseh was twelve years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem fifty-five years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, following the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had driven out before the Israelites. He rebuilt the high places his father Hezekiah had demolished; he also erected altars to the Baals and made Asherah poles. He bowed down to all the starry hosts and worshiped them. He built altars in the temple of the Lord, of which the Lord had said, “My Name will remain in Jerusalem forever.” In both courts of the temple of the Lord, he built altars to all the starry hosts. He sacrificed his children in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced divination and witchcraft, sought omens, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the Lord, arousing his anger. He took the image he had made and put it in God’s temple, of which God had said to David and to his son Solomon, “In this temple and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put my Name forever. I will not again make the feet of the Israelites leave the land I assigned to your ancestors, if only they will be careful to do everything I commanded them concerning all the laws, decrees and regulations given through Moses.” But Manasseh led Judah and the people of Jerusalem astray, so that they did more evil than the nations the Lord had destroyed before the Israelites. The Lord spoke to Manasseh and his people, but they paid no attention. So the Lord brought against them the army commanders of the king of Assyria, who took Manasseh prisoner, put a hook in his nose, bound him with bronze shackles and took him to Babylon. In his distress he sought the favor of the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly before the Lord of his ancestors. And when he prayed to him, the Lord was moved by his entreaty and listened to his plea; so he brought him back to Jerusalem and to his kingdom. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God. Afterward he rebuilt the outer wall of the City of David, west of the Gihon spring in the valley, as far as the entrance of the Fish Gate and encircling the hill of Ophel; he also made it much higher. He stationed military commanders in all the fortified cities in Judah. He got rid of the foreign gods and removed the image from the temple of the Lord, as well as all the altars he had built on the temple hill and in Jerusalem; and he threw them out of the city. Then he restored the altar of the Lord and sacrificed fellowship offerings and thank offerings on it, and told Judah to serve the Lord, the God of Israel. The people, however, continued to sacrifice at the high places, but only to the Lord their God. The other events of Manasseh’s reign, including his prayer to his God and the words the seers spoke to him in the name of the Lord, the God of Israel, are written in the annals of the kings of Israel. His prayer and how God was moved by his entreaty, as well as all his sins and unfaithfulness, and the sites where he built high places and set up Asherah poles and idols before he humbled himself—all these are written in the records of the seers. Manasseh rested with his ancestors and was buried in his palace. And Amon his son succeeded him as king. Amon was twenty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem two years. He did evil in the eyes of the Lord, as his father Manasseh had done. Amon worshiped and offered sacrifices to all the idols Manasseh had made. But unlike his father Manasseh, he did not humble himself before the Lord; Amon increased his guilt. Amon’s officials conspired against him and assassinated him in his palace. Then the people of the land killed all who had plotted against King Amon, and they made Josiah his son king in his place. Steve Webb 4:422 Chronicles, chapter 34. Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. And he did what was right in the eyes of the Lord, and walked in the ways of David his father; and he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet a boy, he began to seek the God of David his father, and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the Asherim, and the carved and the metal images. And they chopped down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and he cut down the incense altars that stood above them. And he broke in pieces the Asherim and the carved and the metal images, and he made dust of them and scattered it over the graves of those who had sacrificed to them. He also burned the bones of the priests on their altars and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem. And in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, and as far as Naphtali, in their ruins all around, he broke down the altars and beat the Asherim and the images into powder and cut down all the incense altars throughout all the land of Israel. Then he returned to Jerusalem. Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had cleansed the land and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz, the recorder, to repair the house of the Lord his God. They came to Hilkiah the high priest and gave him the money that had been brought into the house of God, which the Levites, the keepers of the threshold, had collected from Manasseh and Ephraim and from all the remnant of Israel and from all Judah and Benjamin and from the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And they gave it to the workmen who were working in the house of the Lord. And the workmen who were working in the house of the Lord gave it for repairing and restoring the house. They gave it to the carpenters and the builders to buy quarried stone, and timber for binders and beams for the buildings that the king...

Our heavenly Father, we thank you for our time together, I pray God that you would bless us as we read and that you would teach us. I pray this in Jesus’ name, amen. Okay, let’s begin. Steve Webb 0:53Deuteronomy, chapter 10. “At that time the Lord said to me, ‘Cut for yourself two tablets of stone like the first, and come up to me on the mountain and make an ark of wood. And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.’ So I made an ark of acacia wood, and cut two tablets of stone like the first, and went up the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. And he wrote on the tablets, in the same writing as before, the Ten Commandments that the Lord had spoken to you on the mountain out of the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly. And the Lord gave them to me. Then I turned and came down from the mountain and put the tablets in the ark that I had made. And there they are, as the Lord commanded me.” (The people of Israel journeyed from Beeroth Bene-jaakan to Moserah. There Aaron died, and there he was buried. And his son Eleazar ministered as priest in his place. From there they journeyed to Gudgodah, and from Gudgodah to Jotbathah, a land with brooks of water. At that time the Lord set apart the tribe of Levi to carry the ark of the covenant of the Lord to stand before the Lord to minister to him and to bless his name, to this day. Therefore Levi has no portion or inheritance with his brothers. The Lord is his inheritance, as the Lord your God said to him.) “I myself stayed on the mountain, as at the first time, forty days and forty nights, and the Lord listened to me that time also. The Lord was unwilling to destroy you. And the Lord said to me, ‘Arise, go on your journey at the head of the people, so that they may go in and possess the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.’ “And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good? Behold, to the Lord your God belong heaven and the heaven of heavens, the earth with all that is in it. Yet the Lord set his heart in love on your fathers and chose their offspring after them, you above all peoples, as you are this day. Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no longer stubborn. For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God, who is not partial and takes no bribe. He executes justice for the fatherless and for the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. Love the sojourner, therefore, for you were sojourners in the land of Egypt. You shall fear the Lord your God. You shall serve him and hold fast to him, and by his name you shall swear. He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen. Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven. Steve Webb 3:59Deuteronomy, chapter 11. “Therefore, love the Lord your God and always keep His mandate and His statutes, ordinances, and commands. You must understand today that it is not your children who experienced or saw the discipline of the Lord your God: His greatness, strong hand, and outstretched arm; His signs and the works He did in Egypt to Pharaoh king of Egypt and all his land; what He did to Egypt’s army, its horses and chariots, when He made the waters of the Red Sea flow over them as they pursued you, and He destroyed them completely; what He did to you in the wilderness until you reached this place; and what He did to Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab the Reubenite, when in the middle of the whole Israelite camp the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, their households, their tents, and every living thing with them. Your own eyes have seen every great work the Lord has done. “Keep every command I am giving you today, so that you may have the strength to cross into and possess the land you are to inherit, and so that you may live long in the land the Lord swore to your fathers to give them and their descendants, a land flowing with milk and honey. For the land you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and irrigated by hand as in a vegetable garden. But the land you are entering to possess is a land of mountains and valleys, watered by rain from the sky. It is a land the Lord your God cares for. He is always watching over it from the beginning to the end of the year. “If you carefully obey my commands I am giving you today, to love the Lord your God and worship him with all your heart and all your soul, I will provide rain for your land in the proper time, the autumn and spring rains, and you will harvest your grain, new wine, and oil. I will provide grass in your fields for your livestock. You will eat and be satisfied. Be careful that you are not enticed to turn aside, worship, and bow down to other gods. Then the Lord’s anger will burn against you. He will close the sky, and there will be no rain; the land will not yield its produce, and you will perish quickly from the good land the Lord is giving you. “Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, so that as long as the heavens are above the earth, your days and those of your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your fathers. For if you carefully observe every one of these commands I am giving you to follow — to lov...

Let’s begin. Steve Webb 0:50First Peter chapter one. This letter is from Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ. I am writing to God’s chosen people who are living as foreigners in the provinces of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia. God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his spirit is made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed Him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace, all praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by His great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance and inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled. beyond the reach of change and decay, and through your faith, God is protecting you by His power until you receive the salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad there is wonderful joy ahead. Even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold, though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you’ve never seen him, though you do not see him now you trust him. and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting Him will be the salvation of your souls. This salvation was something even the prophets wanted to know more about when they prophesied about the gracious salvation prepared for you. They wondered what time were situation the Spirit of Christ within them was talking about when he told them in advance about Christ’s suffering and his great glory afterward, they were told that their messages were not for themselves, but for you. and now this good news has been announced to you by those who preached in the power of the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. It is also wonderful that even the angels are eagerly watching these things happen. So prepare your minds for action and exercise, self control. Put all your hope and the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your own desires. You didn’t know any better than but now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you as holy. For the scripture say, you must be holy, because I am holy. and remember that the Heavenly Father to whom you pray has no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must live in reverent fear of him during your time here is temporary residence. For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. and it was not paid with mere gold or silver which lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. God chose him as your ransom long before the world began. But now in these last days, he has been revealed for your sake, through Christ, you have come to trust in God, and you have placed your faith and hope in God because He raised Christ from the dead and gave him great glory. You were cleansed from your sins when you obeyed the truth. So now you must show sincere love to each other as brothers and sisters. Love each other deeply with all your heart, for you had been born again, but not to a life that will quickly end your new life will last forever because it comes from the eternal living Word of God. As the Scriptures say, people are like grass. Their beauty is like a flower in the field. The grass withers and the flower fades, but the word of the Lord remains forever. and that word is the good news that was preached to you. Steve Webb 4:53First Peter chapter two. So get rid of all evil behavior, be done with all deceit hypocrisy, jealousy and all unkind speech. Like newborn babies, you must crave pure spiritual milk so that you will grow into a full experience of salvation and cry out for this nourishment. Now that you have had a taste of the Lord’s kindness. You are coming to Christ who is the living cornerstone of God’s temple. He was rejected by people, but he was chosen by God for great honor. and you are living stones that God is building into his spiritual temple. What’s more, you are as holy priests, through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God, as the scripture say, I am placing a cornerstone in Jerusalem, chosen for great honor. and anyone who trusts in him will never be disgraced. Yes, you who trust Him recognize the honor God has given him. But for those who reject Him, the stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. and he is the stone that makes people stumble, the rock that makes them fall, they stumble, because they do not obey God’s word. and so they meet the fate that was planned for them. But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. Once you had no identities of people, now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy, now you have received God’s mercy. Dear friends, I warn you as temporary residents and foreigners to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then, even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable be...

James and John were known as “Sons of Thunder,” possibly due to their passionate and impulsive nature, as seen in an incident where they wanted to call down fire on Samaritans who rejected Jesus. All right, are you ready? Let’s begin. Steve Webb 0:56Acts chapter 11. The apostles and the other believers throughout Judea heard that the Gentiles also had received the word of God. When Peter went to Jerusalem, those who are in favor of circumcising Gentiles criticized him saying, you were a guest in the home of uncircumcised Gentiles, and you even ate with them. So Peter gave them a complete account of what had happened from the very beginning. While I was praying in the city of Joppa, I had a vision. I saw something coming down that looked like a large sheet being lowered by its four corners from heaven, and it stopped next to me. I looked closely inside and saw domesticated and wild animals, reptiles and wild birds. Then I heard a voice saying to me, get up Peter, kill and eat. But I said, certainly not Lord. No, ritually unclean or defiled food has ever entered my mouth. The voice spoke again from heaven, do not consider anything unclean, that God has declared clean. This happened three times. and finally the whole thing was drawn back up into heaven. At that very moment, three men who had been sent to me from sesor RIA arrived at the house where I was dying, the Spirit told me to go with them without hesitation. These six fellow believers from Joppa accompanied me to assess Surya and we all went into the house of Cornelius, he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house who said to him, send someone to Joppa. For a man whose full name is Simon Peter, he will speak words to you by which you and all your family will be saved. and when I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came down on them just as on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said, John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. It is clear that God gave those Gentiles the same gift that he gave us when we believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I then to try to stop God. When they heard this they stopped their criticism and praised God saying, then God has given to the Gentiles also the opportunity to repent and live. Some of the believers who were scattered by the persecution, which took place when Steven was killed, went as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, telling the message to Jews only. But other believers who were from Cyprus and Cyrene, he went to Antioch and proclaimed the message to Gentiles also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s power was with them and a great number of people believed in turn to the Lord. The news about this reached the church in Jerusalem, so they sent Barnabas to Antioch. When he arrived and saw how God had blessed the people, he was glad and urged them all to be faithful and true to the Lord with all their hearts. Barnabas was a good man full of the Holy Spirit and faith, and many people were brought to the Lord. Then Barnabas went to Tarsus to look for Saul. When he found him, he took him to Antioch, and for a whole year The two met with the people of the church and taught a large group. It was at Antioch that the believers were first called Christians. About that time some prophets went from Jerusalem to Antioch, one of them named Agabus stood up and by the power of the Spirit, predicted that a severe famine was about to come over all the earth. It came when Claudius was Emperor, the disciples decided that they would each sand as much as they could to help their fellow believers who lived in Judea. They did this then and sent the money to the church elders by Barnabas and Saul, Steve Webb 4:25Acts chapter 12. During that same time, King Herod began to mistreat some who belong to the church. He ordered James the brother of John to be killed by the sort. Arid saw that some of the people like this, so he decided to arrest Peter to this happened during the time of the Feast of Unleavened Bread. After Herod arrested Peter, he put him in jail and handed him over to be guarded by 16 soldiers. Herod planned to bring Peter before the people for trial after the Passover feast. So Peter was kept in jail, but the church prayed earnestly to On for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers bowed with two chains. Other soldiers were guarding the door of the jail. Suddenly an angel of the Lord stood there, and a light shined in the cell. The angel struck Peter on the side and woke him up. Hurry, get up, the angel said, and the chains fell off Peters hands. Then the angel told him get dressed and put on your sandals. and Peter did. The angel said, Put on your coat and follow me. So Peter followed him out. But he did not know if what the angel was doing was real. He thought he might be seeing a vision. They went past the first and second guards and came to the iron gate that separated them from the city. The gate opened by itself for them, and they went through it. When they had walked down one street, the angel suddenly left him. Then Peter realized what had happened. He thought, Now I know that the Lord really sent this angel to me. He rescued me from Herod and from all the things that people thought would happen. When he considered this he went to the home of Mary the mother of John Mark. Many people were gathered there praying. Peter knocked on the outside door and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer it. When she recognized Peters voice. She was so happy she forgot to open the door. Instead, she ran inside and told the group Peters at the door. T...

He received this message during the time that Josiah son of Amman was king of Judah. Zephaniah was the son of que Shai, who was the son of get Elia. Get Elia was the son of Amariah, who was the son of Hezekiah. The Lord says, I will destroy everything on Earth, I will destroy all the people in all the animals, I will destroy the birds in the air and the fish in the sea. I will destroy the evil people and everything that makes them sin, I will remove all people from the earth. This is what the Lord said, I will punish Judah and the people living in Jerusalem. I will remove from this place any signs of Baal worship, no one will remember the priests who serve the idols there. and those who go up on their roofs to worship the stars will be forgotten. They worship me the Lord, but they also use the name of the false god Milcom to make promises. They have turned away from me, says the Lord, they have stopped following me. They no longer asked me the Lord for help. Be silent before the Lord God, because the Lord’s day for judging the people is coming soon. The Lord has prepared his sacrifice and he has told his invited guests to get ready. The Lord said, on the Lord’s Day of sacrifice, I will punish the king’s sons and other leaders. I will punish all the people wearing clothes from other countries. At that time, I will punish all the people who jumped over the threshold and those who fill their Masters House with lies and violence. The Lord also said at that time, people will be calling for help at the fish gate in Jerusalem, and morning in the new part of town, they will hear the sound of destruction in the hills around their city. You people living in the lower part of town will cry because all the traders and rich merchants will be destroyed. At that time I will take a lap and search through Jerusalem, I will find all those who are satisfied to live their own way. They say the Lord does nothing he does not help and he does not hurt. I will find them and I will punish them. Then others will take their wealth and destroy their houses. Those who built houses will not live in them. and those who planted vineyards will not drink the wine from the grapes. The Lord’s special day for judging is coming soon. It is near and coming fast. People will hear very sad sounds on the Lord’s special day of judgment. Even strong soldiers will cry. The Lord will show his anger at that time. It will be a time of terrible troubles and a time of destruction. It will be a time of darkness, a black, cloudy and stormy day, it will be like a time of war when people hear horns and trumpets in the defense towers in protected cities. The Lord said, I will make life very hard on the people. They will walk around like the blind who don’t know where they’re going. That will happen because they sinned against the Lord. Their blood will be spilled on the ground. their dead bodies will be like dung on the ground. Their gold and silver will not help them. At that time the Lord will become very upset and angry. The Lord will destroy the whole world. He will completely destroy everyone on Earth. Steve Webb 3:58Zephaniah Chapter Two shameless people change your lives before you become like a dry and dying flower. In the heat of the day a flower will wilt and die. You will be like that when the Lord shows his terrible anger. So change your lives before the Lord shows his anger against you. All you humble people come to the Lord, obey His laws. Learn to do good things. Learn and be humble. Maybe then you will be safe when the Lord shows his anger. No one will be left in Gaza. Ashkelon will be destroyed. By noon the people will be forced to leave Ashdod background will be empty. You cretins living by the sea, this message from the Lord is about you. Canaan land of the Philistines you will be destroyed. No one will live there. Your land by the sea will become empty fields for shepherds and their sheep. Then the land will belong to their survivors from Judah. The LORD their God will remember the people from Judah and restore their fortunes. Then they will let their sheep eat the grass in those fields. In the evenings, they will lie down in the empty houses of Ashkelon. The Lord says, I know what the people of Moab and Ammon did. They embarrassed my people. They took their land to make their own countries larger. So as surely as I’m alive, Moab and the people of Amman will be destroyed like Sodom and Gomorrah, I am the Lord all powerful, the God of Israel, and I promised those countries will be completely destroyed forever. Their land will be overgrown with weeds, it will be like the land covered with assault by the Dead Sea. The survivors of My people will take that land and everything left in it. This will happen to the people of Moab and Ammon because they were so proud and cruel and humiliated, the people of the Lord all powerful, they will be afraid of the Lord because He will destroy their gods, then everyone in all the faraway lands will worship the Lord. People of Ethiopia. This even means you, the Lord Sword will kill your people. Then the Lord will turn north and punish a Syria. He will destroy Nineveh. That city will be like an empty dry desert. Only sheep and wild animals will live in those ruins. owls and crows will sit on the columns that are left standing, their calls will be heard coming through the windows crows will sit on the doorsteps, blackbirds will make their homes in those empty houses. Nineveh is so proud now, it is such a happy city, that people think they’re safe. They think Nineveh is the greatest place in the world, but it will be destroyed. It will be an empty place where only wild animals go to rest. People who pass by will whistle and shake their heads when they see how badly the city was destroyed.
