We're obsessed with you. So today we're going to be diving into the Mom's Guide to fashion. Finding your style every season of life. Moms. Sometimes we've just got so much going on, we don't know what to do, where to go, when to wear things. We live in la. She lives in New Jersey and New York. A lot of things here are very casual. I think what you've done so successfully, you're like, this is what it looks like. And then you'll link out to whatever, and you. I can, like. I could pull that off. How in the world? You're 22. You have no kids. How did you get this job?

I remember when I was little, I grew up in Long Beach, California, and there's a lot of cool moms there, but not really the same style that I would see. And so I would beg my mom to take me to the Brentwood Country Mart, which I'm sure you're aware of.

You were there last night?

[Cassidy Crockett]

Yes, I was actually there yesterday, too.

We'll be there in a couple hours.

It is my favorite place, but I would always go there, and I would see these women that were dressed just so cool, and it was my favorite thing to witness. I would beg my mom to drive me up to Beverly Hills, to Brentwood. See these women, see what they're wearing, And I could just never place my finger on what exactly the style was. So instead, I just decided to call them cool moms. And I moved to New York. I was going to nyu. I was walking around, you know, when I didn't have class, walking around Tribeca, the Upper east side, soho.

When I say she's walking around, she's got a mic.

Yeah.

And she's walking around, and she was like, this girl is wearing the Western look with a little bit of the fringe and the cowboy boot, which is. Think Ralph Lauren at its best.

I mean, it's like kind of. I do it kind of in, like, a Gossip Girl kind of way. It's like an insider shopping experience. I mean, usually what I do is I will take a picture, maybe for myself, I'll find it online, and I'll be like, this is what I'm seeing them wear.

And so that is how the Cool mom series start.

That's how it started. I started posting on TikTok a year ago, and I remember I was making kind of regular cool girl videos, but one day I was like, why Don't I just make a video for the moms? Let's see how this goes. And I posted it, and it totally went viral. And I was like, I was getting all of these comments that were like, wait, I'm a mom. I left New York. I was living there. I was really stylish in the 90s. And, like, I love watching your content because I love to stay relevant. I love to know what people are wearing in New York.

And, well, it is. I will say, as I was a new mom in New York, I had all three of my babies in the city. And I would, you know, put my babies in the stroller. And whether I was taking them to, you know, preschool or whatever, the grocery store, you're like, you're in New York. You put effort into getting dressed.

I would get my, like, outfits on. I would be inspired to get dressed. And it is such a unique place in the world. So many of these women, whether or not they're moms, it doesn't have anything to do with them being a mother per se. It's that they figured out who they are. And I think that's translated into their wardrobe.

Yeah.

[Cassidy Crockett]

I mean, even just, like, kind of being like, me saying, like, oh, you are cool. Like, and in hearing that, because there's so many, so much content that I see that's like young girls in their 20s and they're making styling content. I've even seen some people doing kind of what I do with green screen and shopping, but it's always, like, aimed towards people in their 20s. It's aimed towards people in their teens. And I think that's one of the reasons why my content did so well, is because no one. There are older, you know, women posting outfit photos and stuff, but no one does a green screen shopping saying, like, validating them, being like, these are what the cool moms like, making it seem like it's an aspirational thing. Like, making being a mom, making someone in their 40s or 50s seem like a really aspirational thing. And I mean, obviously, like, it was. It seemed to me it has always been such an aspirational thing.

Okay, let's get to it. How do you define a cool mom outfit? Mm.

[Cassidy Crockett]

To me, it's clothing that fits really well and is a really good material, and it kind of just has to seem like you are wearing the outfit. Like, I think effortless.

It's very effortless.

Okay, what are the pieces that make an outfit instantly feel put together? Even on no sleep?

[Cassidy Crockett]

Oh, gosh. I'm a big fan of this one because I think my mind. I'm constantly online shopping and so I never really know exactly what to wear. I get very overwhelmed when I look in my closet. But I always stick to a really good pair of jeans. Really fun belt. I love a good loafer and a sweater. If it's cold, like I find a really good sweater, I love to do a white shirt underneath so you can see it popping out at the top.

And what's like your most expensive brand to your least expensive brand on that most expensive brand.

[Cassidy Crockett]

I do love this brand called Lulu Desanes. They make a U shaped cut that is like seriously amazing. I mean, it's obviously the row Ophelia sweater is like the sweater right now.

I've seen so many people compare the rho Ophelia to the cos one I know. And I keep wanting to do that test to see are there certain brands or stores that are never amiss for you?

Recently, I've been loving La Linea. They just opened a store in the West Village. I've always loved them. They've always, to me, kind of been a cool mom. Stor are the founders. Meredith Melling like, you know, ultimate cool mom.

When I think of like Upper east side cool mom, I think about them, obviously the row. There's the row store on the Upper east side. I don't think there's a single item that I've ever seen that's dangerous in that store that I haven't loved.

I think that's where, you know, you talk a lot about investment pieces. Just buy the great pair of jeans, buy the great sweater, have one great black sweater. What are your favorite denim brands?

So I feel like I'm always still on the hunt. I don't think I'll ever find a perfect pair of jeans. And I'm convinced that no one will ever find the perfect pair of jeans. Because for me, it's like finding a jean that is the perfect wash, the perfect fit, the perfect cut, which I know, I'm sure you've heard of this woman. She does like tailored vintage Levi's.

Live Love Lenny or whatever. I have two pairs of them and I love their she. It took eight weeks and it was.

I bought them like beginning of the summer, I was skinnier summer. I indulged. So eight weeks later they come and I'm like, God. Cause they really tailor it and they move the pockets so it fit. But I was like, it's like a Kate jean. Well, because we actually had Kate on and she talked about that. She's very specific about the way that she places the pockets on the butt. So everyone's butt looks great in her jeans.

And they would go up, like, 12ft, and it was heels on heels on heels. And I would just, like, sit there and pull down heels and try them. I was probably, like, 8 or 9 years old.

Like, even with a bag, I mean, you can invest a lot of money in a bag, but you can also. There's a lot of amazing designers that make really amazing bags that, like, I don't know, you don't need to spend that much money on. But for me, like, if you're investing in clothing, like, it's just got to be the things that you reach for.

Oh, yeah. I mean, I think that capsule dressing is, like, the most realistic thing there is. I mean, before I even think of the term capsule dressing, I just always had pieces in my closet that I would just always go for. And I think the whole point about capsule dressing is like, there's a lot of people that their passion is fashion, but there's so many people that it's just like, they either don't have time to do that, they don't have care, but they still have good taste. Like, they still are able to be like, oh, that doesn't look good. But, like, so that's where a capsule collection comes in. Because it's like, okay, you know that you have pieces that are gonna look really good on you. They're amazing quality. You trust them so much, and it just takes the stress out of the day. Like, you're like, okay, I need a picker of pants that I love. There's three pants right here. Which one am I gonna choose? They're all neutrals. They all fit me great. And it just makes it so much easier for getting dressed.

I would say just a really fun accessory. Like, anytime I see. And it's kind of, like, unexpected, something that I see a lot that I really love is a really cool pair of glasses, really good pair of thick frame glasses or funky glasses. Like, you could be wearing the most boring kind of outfit. Just, like, a really nice knit sweater, black pair of pants, whatever. But I see these moms wearing these, like, amazing optical glasses or amazing sunglasses. I have this pair. I think probably my most Asked question.

It will happen. I think I always had a dream in my head that like this would be something that I'm doing. Like that I can. You know, I used to make it. I used to have a YouTube channel when I was like 12 and I would talk to like my 100 subscribers. And I think, you know, I got a little bullied for it in middle school and then I never really did it again. But it was always a dream of mine. And it's just remembering that, like if you have that dream or that idea, like you cannot ever think that. Oh yeah, but it won't happen. Like you have to just believe in it. Even if you're. Yeah, even if I am the biggest proponent of manifestation.

[Rosie Cummings]

You've met two people that all we do.

[Cassidy Crockett]

It is like such an accurate thing with your subconscious. Like getting yourself to just believe that that's the truth.

Because if you believe it, if you really believe it, 9 times out of 10 it will happen because you've manifested. You believe it.
