Title: Doctor Who: The Ambassadors of Death Subtitle: 3rd Doctor Novelisation Author: Terrance Dicks Narrator: Geoffrey Beevers Format: Original Recording Length: 4 hrs and 14 mins Language: English Release date: 01-04-18 Publisher: BBC Digital Audio Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Doctor Who Publisher's Summary: Geoffrey Beevers reads this action-packed novelisation of a Third Doctor television adventure. Seven months after it left Mars, there has still been no radio communication with the Probe Seven spacecraft or the astronauts inside it. Back on Earth concern is mounting, and eventually a recovery capsule is sent up to rescue the astronauts. But when the capsule returns to Earth, it is found to be empty. As the Doctor and Liz investigate, they discover that the interior of the capsule is highly radioactive: if anyone was inside, they would now surely be dead. Have the astronauts returned to Earth? And if not, who are the sinister space-suited figures who stalk the countryside and whose very touch means instant death? Members Reviews: Slowing moving TV serial benefits from trimming Given that the Target Doctor Who adaptations began at around the time Jon Pertwee took over the role as the Doctor, it seems odd that this early third Doctor story was not immediately adapted. When Mars Probe 7 goes astray, a rescue ship is sent up to try to find the missing astronauts. It returns, but when recovered has no crew whatsoever, and is highly radioactive. UNIT is called in to try to discover what has happened. It turns out that someone has kidnapped the ambassadors of an alien race. If they are not returned, Earth faces destruction... 'The Ambassadors of Death' was overly-long as a TV serial. Terrance Dicks takes the opportunity to present us with a slimmer version of the story - not necessarily lacking in detail, but seemingly faster-paced. This is probably an illusion, but one which readers should take graciously. This story explores Doctor Who's new 'exiled on Earth' format, and does so quite sensibly by reversing the usual roles of humans and aliens. Rockin in the 70's Don't be fooled. This is one of the best novilizations of an unbearably long (7 episodes!) story. Dicks is at his best, writing action that keeps the page turning enterspaced with very quick back stories of charecters that have you thirsting for more. Problems abound in this plot, and Dicks sorts them out as best could be done (why is a general with hundreds of soldiers under him using ruffians to do his dirty work?). The best part is everything builds until the last 2 pages, it's all resolved, and the Doctor leaves, letting someone else to untangle the alien invasion on national tv problem. Rock on!

Title: The Doctor Who Audio Annual Subtitle: Multi-Doctor Stories Author: BBC Narrator: Nicola Bryant, Anneke Wills, Matthew Waterhouse, Geoffrey Beevers, Peter Purves Format: Original Recording Length: 2 hrs and 20 mins Language: English Release date: 12-07-17 Publisher: BBC Digital Audio Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 6 votes Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Doctor Who Publisher's Summary: For two decades, from the mid-1960s to the mid-1980s, every fan of the Doctor hoped to find The Doctor Who Annual in their Christmas stocking. Larger than life and twice as colourful, the stories within were exuberant - and often charmingly naive - in their take on 'the children's own programme which adults adore'. Here, for the first time on audio, Peter Purves (Steven), Anneke Wills (Polly), Geoffrey Beevers (the Master), Matthew Waterhouse (Adric) and Nicola Bryant (Peri) read a selection of these colourful and energetic tales. In 'The Sons of Grekk', the First Doctor is held prisoner in a brutal, otherworldly society. 'The King of Golden Death' finds that the Second Doctor, Polly and Ben have materialised inside an Ancient Egyptian pyramid. The Third Doctor, Jo and the Brigadier confront a familiar adversary in 'Dark Intruders', whilst in 'Conundrum' the Fourth Doctor, Adric and K9 experience warped physics in the corridors of the TARDIS. In 'The Penalty', a delirious Fifth Doctor finds old friends and adversaries ganging up on him, and the Sixth Doctor and Peri plunge into a dangerous period of British history in 'The Real Hereward'. Also included are two vintage essays on the character of our favourite Time Lord: 'Who Is Doctor Who?' from 1966 and 'The Phoenix in the TARDIS' from 1968. Take a nostalgic journey through time with these vintage Doctor Who tales.

Title: Doctor Who and the Tenth Planet Subtitle: 1st Doctor Novelisation Author: Gerry Davis Narrator: Nicholas Briggs, Anneke Wills, Nicholas Briggs Format: Unabridged Length: 3 hrs and 56 mins Language: English Release date: 12-07-17 Publisher: BBC Digital Audio Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 1 votes Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Doctor Who Publisher's Summary: An unabridged reading of this classic novelisation featuring the First Doctor's original encounter with the Cybermen. The TARDIS brings the Doctor, Ben and Polly to a space tracking station in the Antarctic - and straight into trouble. A space mission is going badly wrong, and a new planet has appeared in the sky. Mondas, ancient fabled twin planet of Earth, has returned. Soon its inhabitants arrive. But while they used to be just like the humans of Earth, now they are very different. Devoid of emotions, their bodies replaced with plastic and steel, the Cybermen are here. Humanity needs all the help it can get, but as the Cybermen take over, the Doctor is dying.... Gerry Davis' novelisation of his own 1966 TV serial describes the lead-up to the Doctor's first ever regeneration. Members Reviews: Awesome Dr. Who Book This is a must have for Dr. Who fans. This book is almost identical to the TV episode, the Tenth Planet, and if you read the book after watching the episode you can picture the entire thing going on in your head. It features what I consider to be the scariest variant of the Cybermen and also gives the Cybermen names which only appear in this episode. The writer did an excellent job describing what the characters are like. Good First Doctor Story. Good past Doctor Story. I bought it mainly for the fact that this was the First Doctor's regeneration moment and I wanted a little bit more details than scene on the surviving show, in terms of what it led up to. It was great! I really enjoyed the bit when the 10th ... It was great! I really enjoyed the bit when the 10th planet was found. I can't wait to read more in the series. (James aged 7 and a half). Five Stars Building my collection up! Thank you! Doctor Who? I love reading Doctor Who books.

Title: Doctor Who - The 10th Doctor Adventures: Death and the Queen Author: James Goss Narrator: David Tennant, Catherine Tate, Alan Cox, Beth Chalmers Format: Original Recording Length: 57 mins Language: English Release date: 11-20-17 Publisher: Big Finish Productions Ratings: 5 of 5 out of 3 votes Genres: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Doctor Who Publisher's Summary: Donna Noble has never been lucky in love. So when - one day - her Prince does come, she is thrilled to have the wedding of all weddings to look forward to. Though the Doctor isn't holding his breath for an invitation. And her future mother-in-law is certainly not amused. But on the big day itself, Donna finds her castle under siege from the darkest of forces, marching at the head of a skeleton army. When it looks like even the Doctor can't save the day, what will Queen Donna do to save her people from Death itself? Directed by Nicholas Briggs. Critic Reviews: "All of the stories in this first collection capture the feel of this era of Doctor Who, but James Goss's finale also completely gets the 'turn on a sixpence/dime' emotional writing that Russell T Davies brought to the series. It's aided by David Tennant and Catherine Tate's best performances, and sterling work from Alice Krige, Beth Chalmers and Blake Ritson as the inhabitants of the out-of-the-way kingdom that has had peace for 500 years...." (Sci-Fi Bulletin) "Death and the Queen by James Goss is the most original tale presented and the clear jewel of the three. Here Donna is a bride once more and has departed the TARDIS in this brilliant variation on the base-under-siege archetype." (Blogtor Who) Members Reviews: fun story with the tenth doctor and the amazing donna strong, fun story with the tenth doctor and the amazing donna. donna is getting married, or attempting to again, but this time to a prince. but an unexpected visitor - death - and the presence of the doctor may ruin yet another wedding for donna. both actors have a good romp, having so much fun in the story. Awesome I very much enjoyed this audio; although, Donna was pretty annoying in this one, which resulted in the four star rating. Definitely worth a listen though, for sure! Great experience with Donna Noble!! I LOVE science fiction! Star Trek and Doctor Who are my favorites. This story involved my favorite doctor and his companion, Donna Noble. I like Donna because of all the companions from the new series, she is a mature woman. I believe that to understand the story and get the most out of it, you have to have NO interruptions. I suggest headphones while laying on your bed with your eyes closed. Otherwise, you will not get everything because there is a LOT going on and you have to imagine. Get this audio - it is a great experience!! Five Stars Great for any Dr. Who fan! Five Stars Solid outing and a welcome chance to hear Donna again.

Culshaw is excellent in this faithful recreation Very enjoyable. Members Reviews: Great Read.... A fabulous reading. Culshaw and Briggs brought Dicks alive. Exciting and fast paced. loved it. A classic novelisation of a classic story This was a fantastic audiobook. The original television version of the story is already a classic and this audiobook is not a disappointment. John Culshaw does a brilliant job with the narration - with the possible exception of Sarah Jane. Your mileage on that may vary. His Tom Baker in particular is almost perfect as it has been since the days of Dead Ringers. His version of Nyder sounds like he came straight out of the television version. On top of that Nicolas Briggs once again performs excellently as the Daleks. They just seem just as indimidating and horrifying as they always have at their best. From what I could hear there were no moments cut from the television version in the novel version and the same applies to this audio version. The story is as perfectly morbid and intense as ever. I was particularly impressed by the opening scene and its wonderful scene setting. As well as the scene at the end with Davros and The Daleks in the Kaled bunker. If you are collecting the Target novels in audio form or if you are any kind of Doctor Who fan I highly recommend you give this a try! Old School. Great stuff, remember the daleks from being a kid really enjoyed this Audio book thanks. exterminate. is it safe now to come out from the bomb shekter now? fast paced and very scarey. Genesis of the Daleks A fantastic story well read and kept me rivited all the way through. Well worth the money.
