Recensioni dei membri: Un libro bello Mi piace questo libro molto; l'autrice lo ha scritto spendidamente. Mi sta aiutando a capire la lingua l'italiano più meglio. a book to read This book is a great one for any age. I read it a while back and bought it for my mother as a Christmas gift, she loved it as well. the best novel since Hemingway ones. the best novel since Hemingway ones. An introspection into a familiy relationship and into the strings of society. Life meaning is in there. okay it was more a book to learn italian with german explanations and that was not what i expected. but furthermore it was okay. Wonderful story I am almost finished reading this book - it takes me a while longer to read a book in Italian, not my native language! I will be sad when I come to last page. The story is not a happy one but more of a story told from the soul of the story teller, an elderly woman recounting her life. I am finding it quite moving and in a way, a peaceful read as there is very little action. The grandmother is writing to her distant - both physically and emotiolnally - grandson, in a sense, pleading with him to acknowledge her wish that he accept her - flaws and all. She tells a tale of losing her compass, a quiet admission of guilt as well as admittance of not having been a perfect wife, mother, grandmother - I've never read anything quite like this book and, plan to re-read it as I'm certain I have missed pieces, reading in Italian and, it will also improve my understanding of the language.

Please note: This audiobook is in Spanish. Opiniones de los miembros: And I got a beautiful surprise. The book was so good This book came to my kindle by mistake. I was looking for El Amante Japones by Isabel Allende. And I got a beautiful surprise. The book was so good. The characters, the plot, the love story, the description of the house. It is a very good story. I enjoyed it very much. It is based on customs of other countries, it goes to love...read it you will enjoy it. I am sure it comes in English too. Entretenido pero por momentos un poco denso..! Esperaba más. El título sugiere una buena narracion, pero la historia del amante es breve. El relato da vueltas en historias paralelas relacionadas con la vida de la protagonista, sin embargo es un libro entretenido. Love this Japanese Lover!! Mystical book, about life itself, a love story within. Good plot and setting. Originally bought because I thought it was Isabel Allende's new book but that one comes out in September 2015. I kept it because I read about Rani Manicka and realized that I had previously read a book from her, "Mother of Rice" which I enjoyed a lot... Very interesting since it's written from many character's points of view. Looking forward to read the other Japanese lover as well! The tone is sad. All in all I bought the Spanish version by accident when I was trying to get the novel by Isabel Allende. The Spanish (it's translated from English!) is a bit difficult, partly because the action takes place in Asia and there are some words for exotic household trappings, etc. that I hadn't seen in the past The character of the main protagonist is well-developed, but a lot of the plot is simply hard to believe.

Title: Virtually Perfect Author: Paige Roberts Narrator: Marguerite Gavin Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 23 mins Language: English Release date: 09-26-17 Publisher: Blackstone Audio, Inc. Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 2 votes Genres: Fiction, Contemporary Publisher's Summary: Not so long ago, Lizzie Glass had a successful TV show, a cookbook deal, and a social diary crammed with parties and events. But fame doesn't stay fresh for long. Her show fizzles, her magazine column is canceled, and Lizzie's only option is a summer job as personal chef to the Silvesters, a wealthy and eccentric family. Their beach house is a lavish, beautifully decorated palace on the Jersey Shore, and Lizzie gets to work catering to Kathryn and Jim Silvester's fashionably restrictive diets. But it's their 20-something daughter who presents Lizzie with her biggest challenge - professionally and personally. A self-proclaimed "wellness warrior", Zoe Silvester has a hugely popular website and app that promotes healthy living and organic, unprocessed foods. Yet Lizzie soon realizes that the Clean Life site has a dirty little secret. In fact, Zoe's entire online persona is based on a dangerous hoax that runs deep and will damage lives. Exposing Zoe won't just jeopardize Lizzie's job and a promising new relationship - it may expose the cracks in her own past. Sharply observed, witty, and thoughtful, Paige Roberts' debut novel is a compelling look at one woman's journey toward reinventing herself - and seeing through the facade of others - to discover the imperfect but sometimes wonderful truth. Members Reviews: A fun read Paige Roberts' debut novel, Virtually Perfect, is a fast, easy, and thoroughly enjoyable read! The characters are interesting and relatable and the overlying themes timely and relevant. It ranks up with my other favorite food based women's fiction writers, Dana Bate and Stacey Ballis. I really enjoyed it, and I am not usually one for ... I devoured this novel in three short evenings' worth of reading: the plot and characters were well conceived and the writing style made for a very compelling, diverting read. I really enjoyed it, and I am not usually one for the "chick-lit" genre. Thanks, Paige! Four Stars I read this book super fast. Was a fun read and now I want scallops. Easy to devour! By Melissa Amster Iâm always up for a food-themed novel and this one caught my eye. I had heard about it several months before it published and knew that I had to devour it as soon as I had the chance. And devour it, I did! Paige Roberts makes writing seem effortless, even when Iâm sure she put a lot of effort into it. Her words just flowed throughout the pages, making me want to read her novel non-stop. I had no idea what would happen from one chapter to the next and was in for a lot fun (and sometimes outlandish) surprises. I liked the variety of characters in this story. It was clear whom you could trust and whom to avoid. Paige creates some truly despicable characters that make the story even more exciting because you want to know that theyâll get their just desserts. I think it would be fun for Paige to write a book about Zoe and try to make her into a likable character. I think she has some potential to change. Kathryn, on the other hand, is a piece of work! Lizzie is truly likable throughout, but I wish she would have shared what really happened with her TV show ending. It sounded like there was more than meets the eye, from what she alluded to, but she never got into details. The story probably could have worked just as well in first person, but I enjoyed Lizzieâs perspective no matter what.

Then memory returned." When Jessica regains consciousness in a French hospital on the day after the Paris attacks, all she can think of is fleeing the site of the horror she survived. But Patrick, the steadfast friend who hasn't left her side, urges her to reconsider her decision. Worn down by his insistence, she reluctantly agrees to follow through with the trip they'd planned before the tragedy. "The pages found you," Patrick whispered. "Now you need to figure out what they're trying to say." During a stop at a country flea market, Jessica finds a faded document concealed in an antique. As new friends help her to translate the archaic French, they uncover the story of Adeline Baillard, a young woman who lived centuries before - her faith condemned, her life endangered, her community decimated by the Huguenot persecution. "I write for our descendants, for those who will not understand the cost of our survival." Determined to learn the Baillard family's fate, Jessica retraces their flight from France to England, spurred on by a need she doesn't understand. Could this stranger who lived 300 years before hold the key to Jessica's survival? Members Reviews: Excellent, beautiful story I knew the moment I picked up this book it was going to be amazing and I was right. The Space Between Words is one of those books that is simply magical. It's warm and friendly and heartbreaking and full of adventure. This story takes the reader all over France an England in both Modern Times and in the 17th century. I don't remember the last time I cried while reading a book but this one made me cry. It challenged my faith and caused me to step back and take a look at what I have been taught about history, particularly church history, and how we treat those different than ourselves. Well written, with wonderful, relatable characters, this book will surprise you, intrigue you, and make you see life a little differently after you've finished it. I highly recommend this book. ... fan of her books and this one did not disappoint. I really like that Michele uses current events ... I am a fan of her books and this one did not disappoint. Title: The Shark Club Author: Ann Kidd Taylor Narrator: Emily Rankin Format: Unabridged Length: 9 hrs and 41 mins Language: English Release date: 06-06-17 Publisher: Penguin Audio Ratings: 4 of 5 out of 38 votes Genres: Fiction, Contemporary Publisher's Summary: A novel about love, loss, and sharks by the New York Times best-selling coauthor of the memoir Traveling with Pomegranates. On a summer day on the Gulf of Mexico in 1988, two extraordinary things happen to 12-year-old Maeve Donnelly. First she is kissed by Daniel, the boy of her dreams. Then she is attacked by a blacktip shark. Eighteen years later Maeve is a world-traveling marine biologist studying and swimming with the very animals that once threatened her life. Known among her peers as the "shark whisperer", Maeve is fearless in the water. On land, however, Maeve is dogged by unresolved wounds and indecisive about the path her life will take. When she returns to the small island off Florida's coast where she grew up and to her childhood home - the legendarily charming and eccentric Hotel of the Muses, where she was raised by her grandmother - she finds that her twin brother may be about to make it big as novelist, using her love life as his jumping-off point. Will she confront her feelings about her brother's betrayal - and forgive her childhood sweetheart, Daniel, the missteps of their youth? Or will she dive headlong back into her research and open her heart to Nicholas, her handsome colleague who shares her passion for the ocean? Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the Gulf of Mexico, in a picturesque and quaint beach town, The Shark Club is a bittersweet story about the power of forgiveness and the promise of true love. Members Reviews: The Gift Goes On I loved this book! I've been a fan of Sue Monk Kidd for many years. I feel like I've watched Ann grow up through her mother's stories. When Mother and Daughter collaborated on Traveling with Pomegranates, I traveled with them through some pivotal experiences that drew them closer to each other, but also helped Ann find her own path and discover her own gifts for writing and storytelling. In The Shark Club, Ann firmly establishes herself as a gifted author in her own right. I loved her characters and she kept me hanging on from chapter to chapter, reluctant to interrupt the story to return to my daily tasks, or to sleep. That is the sign of a good book! So bring on your next book, Ann! I'll be waiting. and watching for it! Made my drive really quick! Super easy to follow! Great when traveling. It definitely made me want to plan a beach trip soon though!

L'intért du récit est très inégal avec certes de bons passages qui cependant n'arrivent pas à sauver l'ensemble du livre. Le début est laborieux et la fin bclée et presque ridicule. Title: Next Year, For Sure Subtitle: A Novel Author: Zoey Leigh Peterson Narrator: Elizabeth Cottle Format: Unabridged Length: 5 hrs and 58 mins Language: English Release date: 03-07-17 Publisher: Dreamscape Media, LLC Ratings: 3 of 5 out of 12 votes Genres: Fiction, Contemporary Publisher's Summary: After nine years together, Kathryn and Chris are used to helping each other through every daily and existential dilemma. In the confusions, passions, and upheavals of their new lives, both Kathryn and Chris will be forced to reconsider their past and what they thought they knew about love. Members Reviews: Serious Whimsy--or Whimsical Seriousness This novel, at least as read by Elizabeth Cottle, is a deceptively light-hearted take on issues that we've all had to deal with when embarking on (or already in) relationships with others: How much compromising is too much? Are some friendships made to last while others should just be allowed to run their course? What's the difference between loving someone and being IN LOVE with that person? Must we sacrifice and suffer for the things we want in life? How can we be sure what it is we really want and that we will remain satisfied if we get it? I really enjoyed listening to this book. The characters are quirky but remain likable, Cottle's narrative voice is perfect for them, and Zoey Peterson's story-telling style is delightfully innovative. For example, at the end of several of the phone conversations, Peterson poses a series of questions that could have/should have been asked but were not--usually because one or both of the conversants was too self-conscious to ask or was attempting to sound less insecure/more emotionally evolved than (s)he felt. I think it's safe to say that we learn at least as much about these characters from what they don't say as from what they do. One more comment about Peterson's writing: For the first time ever in reviewing a book for Audible, I was wishing there were four categories, i.e., that writing could be separated from story. If I'd had that option, writing definitely would have gotten five stars. boring Completely boring. I'd like those hours of my life back please. nothing ever happens. Literally, ever! Who is telling this story???? I could never figure out who was telling this story. I did not like the ending. The theme is interesting but there is something lacking.
