I came financially free at 23, first million at 26. I teach people how to do real estate as a hobby. Okay. Because a lot of people are looking to quit that job and I started learning from millionaires versus, you know, professors. Finding someone who's in alignment with the results that you're wanting. Yep, got to get close to them.

Bonnie Laszlo is a seasoned, accomplished, purpose driven real estate investor, best selling author and founder of real estate hobby millionaire. She became financially free at 23 and now helps others build cash flowing rental portfolios through practical real estate investing.
A
I tell people, gets to be easy, it gets to be fun. Because a lot of people are like, how in the world can you do business and do it as a hobby? And, you know, so many people are like, die hard, do it this way. And, you know, torture yourself and suffer. Right. And my thing is just like, no, let me do it as a hobby. Let me go ahead and replicate the result over and over again. And staying focused and not doing a lot of the other things that get you into confusion. Oh, yeah, that will burn you out.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Like stick to one thing, become a master of it, get that money, get yours, get the financial freedom, and then figure out where you want to go from there.

I knew I was going to screw that up and we're going to keep it. Bonnie Laszlo, she is the author and founder of real estate hobby Millionaire. How do you feel? Welcome to the show.
A
Oh, thanks. Thanks for having me. Thanks for definitely taking the time to be with me.
B
Right on. Before we get into the nitty gritty, you just wrapped up your day of filming your episode of women in power.
A
Yes. Women in power.
B
Awesome. What do you believe makes a powerful woman? And why do you believe that is you?
A
So great question. I think that women in power, just the word power, really has to deal with something that a woman can take and utilize to help the most amount of people, including yourself. You know, put your oxygen mask on first, help your family, help your friends, and once you've mastered that skill, then go ahead and understand you have a duty to go ahead and translate that out to the masses on a large scale. So that's what I think is very powerful, is taking the awareness of what you've figured out and what you've gotten results with to better, I guess, the lives of other people and literally leave it as a legacy.
B
Love that. You brought it right back to legacy. I got to ask hobby and millionaire. Is that something you seem very common together?
A
I know.
B
What comes first, the chicken or the egg? Is it. Was it a hobby or were you a millionaire first? How did this work?
A
So I teach people how to do real estate as a hobby. Okay. Because a lot of people are looking to quit that job whenever I was in college because I came financially free at 23, first million at 26.
B
Rock and roll.
A
So while I had my nine to five, I was actually building this portfolio on the side while going to college. And so I understand that people come to me because they also want to replicate and do those sorts of things. So I want people to be able to do this as a hobby, do this as a family affair kind of thing, to start it in 30, you know, minutes, right away, get the results, replicate what I've been doing, and pretty much take it to the next level if they want. So I'm very happy if people are going from zero to five doors.
B
Sure.
A
Or five to 500 doors. But, you know, I'd love for people to, you know, play the millionaire game. Yeah, yeah. But I'm totally fine if they just do it as a hobby and then they can decide if they want to take it up a notch or.
B
Well, welcome to the party. So let's talk about. Sorry, I got a little bit distracted. I had a question here. Ah, yes. I love how you addressed it with your freedom at 26, your first million. It all leads me to the. My next question is time compression. You're compressing time. You've already said from here to here. I've already evaluated my worth because I made this money.
A
Yes.
B
Talk about how that really is the way most entrepreneurs think.
A
Well, I can tell you, in the beginning, I don't know what I didn't know. Right. And so whenever it took me eight years to figure this out, I realized that getting mentors can collapse that time.
B
Yes, ma'.
A
Am. And I started learning from millionaires versus, you know, professors, because professors can teach you how to make, what, a hundred to two hundred thousand a year? And I tried to learn from millionaires that we're able to have that financial freedom to do what you, you know, want to do and everything. So collapsing that Time is very, very important. And every entrepreneur, I think is looking for a better way, a faster way, more efficient way and you know, finding someone who's in alignment with the results that you're wanting. Gotta get close to em.
B
Oh, for sure. And it's crazy cause I come from a long lineage of folks that listen to coaches. But it was a different time when the coaches were like. What you mean like a football player coach? Like. No, no, no. Like the Les Browns of the world. My stepdad grew up on Chuck Norris, Bruce Lee and Les Brown. That was a different time.
A
Yeah.
B
Everyone's basically grabbed that download and call themselves Cardone or this or that. And you're calling yourself you, calling yourself your brand.
A
Yes.
B
Talk about how the coaching program, the coaching the has evolved not just in recent years, but in decades.
A
Oh yeah, totally. Because back in the day it was me and Carlton Sheets, the no down payment method, a late night infomercials. We didn't have people hand holding you through the process. Yeah, yeah.
B
P90X. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
A
I've heard of mentors and stuff. Right. Because you read, you know, think and Grow Rich and the millionaires start talking about these sorts of things, but they're not accessible. It was only, you know, books and tapes and reading, you know, a podcast or you know, the videos. It was YouTube back in the day and stuff. Infomercials. But today you can actually find nine figure millionaires to learn from and get close to and see practically on a weekly basis.
B
Sure.
A
So that's what I started doing.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, and JT Fox is one of my business coaches. I learned from Dan Martel, Cody Sanchez, all the people that I really respect their results and what they're doing in the world.
B
That's awesome. Like you name them off like their senseis, like, oh, they're awesome. I'm sure they're gurus. But it's like starting from one, from one tribe to the other way.
A
Show me the way. Collapse the time. Because it took me what, 30 years I've been doing this. So I don't want to spend another 30 years trying to, you know, get the same results.
B
Right on. But at the same time, you kind of need the 30 years to understand. Oh shit, that, that, that is a lot of time. I could have saved them my next lifetime.
A
Yeah.
B
Hopefully the next time I kick out and go, oh, you take your first breath of air, you're like, somehow I'm far more advanced this time. I wonder why.
A
Yeah, yeah.
B
Talk about the philosophies. People listen to us talking, oh, that's new age entrepreneurship. They're. They're talking about fifth dimension, third dimension stuff. A lot of this fufu stuff is very practical. It's all around us. It's on the dollar bill. It's in God we Trust. There's a pyramid there. It's all wacky. And it's like, what. What does all these weird things mean to you as an entrepreneur?
A
So I started off in college with Wayne Dyer. The power of source. When you change the way you look at things, the things around you change, right?
B
Oh, yeah.
A
So I. I literally brainwashed myself with all that foo foo stuff. Right? And. And I wrote. And then the secret. Right. All that stuff started.
B
The beginning is truly the secret.
A
Exactly. The secret. And so I'm just like, what is all these things? How is this kind of work? But I was like, you know what? I'll give it a whirl and see what happens. And it literally worked out.
B
It does.
A
The mentors and the seminars and things that were, I guess, offered.
B
Yes, ma'.
A
Am. That's where I went. And that's where I found out I was financially free because I didn't even know what that was.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
And then I didn't know until six months ago that the finish line that I was looking to get to, I had, like, passed it a few million dollars ago. You know what I mean? Or realize that the stats or anything, I never looked at that from. Especially a woman founder.
B
Yeah.
A
And the rarity of that.
B
Yeah, I come from the gaming world, so it's. Life is always in play. But my. My homies were the, you know, the CEO of Xbox and the CEO of PlayStation. They're gamers at heart. They're. They're just. They're just toddlers with money to the degree of the. The. The, you know, to where we are today. I don't want to get into that, that, that, that. That other podcast. But anyways, life is at play no matter what seat you take. Let's put it that way.
A
Okay, got it.
B
How. How would you. How would you coach that? How would you tell someone, hey, treat it as a hobby? But do not make it seem like it's the last dire thing you need, because you're already thinking all wrong about it. Like, you're already victimizing yourself. You're already doing all these things.
A
Y.
B
You don't fall into love. You rise into it. Like, it's all about the verbiage. Because when you look at the. The old books and the Mayans, you're Like, it's really powerful how you say and what you say.
A
Yeah.
B
Do you. Are you a believer on this madness that I just spat out?
A
I do. I do. And I always tell people, it gets to be easy, it gets to be fun. Right. Because a lot of people are like, how in the world can you do business and do it as a hobby? And, you know, so many people are like, die hard. Do it this way. And, you know, torture yourself and suffer. Right. And my thing is just like, no, let me do it as a hobby. Let me go ahead and replicate the result over and over again. And the cool thing is that I do the same thing over and over again to the point where I can do this stuff in my sleep and staying focused and not doing a lot of the other things that get you into confusion.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
That will burn you out.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Like, stick to one thing, Become a master of it. Get that money, get yours, get the financial freedom, and then figure out where you want to go from there.
B
Oh, hell.
A
You know, so important, because you have to focus on one thing.
B
Oh, absolutely. And Lauren, an apprentice of mine, did your session studio, too. And Lauren and I were here day one, hour one with Rudy.
A
Yeah.
B
And I basically said, cables, batteries, we got to sop it, because we're going to be here for a minute.
A
Yes.
B
And we're into several hundred episodes, different vibes of energies.
A
Yes.
B
The client and the energy will always change, but what stays the same is the room, the wires, and the sop because you don't know what's coming, of course. So you got to treat it like a chef in a restaurant. You got to treat it like a tattoo shop. That's how you kind of play in your business.
A
Absolutely.
B
So talk about what you're wearing, your brands, you know, what's happening here. Why is holding something that's tangible so important for what you're doing?
A
Okay. So important, because everyone was asking me, like, how I had created these results and how I got to be financially free at 23. And I honestly got tired of telling the same story over and over again. Okay.
B
Yeah.
A
So I created the book literally in a week. Okay. And I dictated it, sent it off, did the editing, all that stuff, and now it's just like, hey, here's the book. This is how you can figure out, you know, and same thing with the podcast here, right?
B
Yeah.
A
I don't have to explain myself. Listen to the podcast. You know, any of the filming, watch the episode, and it's going to save time, and it's going to outlive me. Great. So these things will stick around for a very long time.
B
Cool. Who's running your AI department right now?
A
AI department?
B
Yeah. Who's running you? Basically, you just said two pain points that you solve.
A
Yep.
B
In two.
A
I have been very fortunate that my software, my property management software, my AI team member, her name is Lisa, and she talks to all the prospects, she schedules all the showings, and anyone who submits work orders, like dispatching and stuff. AI has been wonderful because literally I've been able to accomplish, you know, what I've accomplished with a very small team. And I've been the main one, you know, pretty much staying in control with having AI be a valuable, valuable team member.
B
Well, you've now just sat in a room with a complete cycle with the highest of quality. You're doing a podcast. You basically have three hours of footage that you can now import into your AI. Mlm.
A
Yes.
B
And create podcast version.
A
Yes.
B
Interview version. And just type in what you want to say that day and you can have your cocktail, your vacation, while your AI bots are.
A
I know.
B
Selling, selling, selling. Because this is how many times you said. How many times are you going to say the same story?
A
I'm not going to anymore.
B
Exactly.
A
I'm going to do this right here and I'm, you know, time is valuable, teams are best. Yeah. Both wisely. And I'll show you success is my quote in the book.
B
Amen to that.
A
Guess what? Thanks for being a part of my team. Thanks for making this something that's a legacy piece, evergreen piece, and something that people can share with others because, you know, not everyone can really convey my message, but they can share it.
B
Absolutely. And that's what you need. You need evangelists. You need folks that are fans of yours and you're fans of them.
A
Yeah.
B
And this is kind of like the Les Browns of the world. The. The Alan Watts of the world. Jesus Christ himself of the world, basically then saying, ye.
A
And everyone's energy is different.
B
You're the divine.
A
No one is going to be able to experience me the way that they're going to experience me, or you're going to experience me. So guess what? Read the book. Look at the episode. Listen to the podcast. I know. Come find me. Come find me so I can change your life and the life of your family so that you can also have a legacy piece. Or guess what? Don't do it. Just keep it as a hobby.
B
Yeah.
A
Right. But at least if you got fired from that job you really hate, it doesn't matter. You're not going to be homeless. You'll still have this extra money coming in. And it's also something where here to me because I actually had a hip replacement replace both of my knees and stuff in my 40s. Right. And as I'm sitting there having this happen in my life, I'm like, thank God I'm teaching this to people. Because the rent checks still come in, guys. So if you get fired, who cares? The rent checks are still coming in. You get sick, you're laid up, who cares? The rent checks are still coming in. And this is something that's going to be something you can pass down and teach to other people. And guess what? Everyone's always going to need a place to live. Oh yeah, you show me. You know what I mean? Like, it's not like my customers are going to say no, Right? So it's, it's, it's cool because it's almost like a subscription base as well. Because you want to keep them. I know. You keep them happy. And literally you have a thousand to almost $2,000 a month coming in from your residence. And they're the biggest players on your team and they're the ones who have gotten me financially free.
B
Oh yeah, we, this is something we preached when I worked at Patreon. I was the 22nd employee and Jack Conti sat in front of me. And our job was, if you're not making $1,000 on your own, we don't pay attention yet because that's the threshold. You've hustled enough. You liked and subscribed you, you, you've hustled and hustled you. You're making a cool thousand. Now we can ascend you and accelerate you from a creator's persp. Perspective. Let's talk about niching up and talking about real estate. I know I've got my own real estate. I'm very early on, but I'm kind of curious what a guru like yourself, how simple it is and how fun it is to jump in, make fun mistakes, but still feel proud that you're growing. Yes.
A
And I was very fortunate to learn on a 360 unit apartment complex.
B
Right on.
A
I was in college, so I went and became a leasing agent.
B
Of course you did.
A
And so I pretended that that 360 unit multimillion dollar apartment complex was mine.
B
You pantomimed.
A
Yeah. And I was actually getting paid to. Right. And making mistakes and learning on their portfolio, their money, seeing how the systems were. And so for me to be able to handhold you through the process, it's gonna be more fun than you being freaked out, scared you're gonna lose a shit ton of money. Oh, yeah. Okay. And then looking at yourself and going, oh, my God, I really made this huge mistake that's gonna bankrupt my family. So it's really good. Just like I always tell people a surgeon, a surgeon learns in school, but before they ever do surgery, they're gonna be hand in hand with an advanced surgeon.
B
Oh, for sure.
A
Yeah. Before you're gonna be doing. So why not just go ahead and start with the team? Start with an advanced investor as your partner so you can sleep well at night and have less fear.
B
Yes. And that's what's important about, like, folks think that money is wealth and. But it's really about freedom and having peace of mind.
A
Yes, it is.
B
Because you just know, like, I have a problem. Just throw money at it.
A
I know. I know you know.
B
Or throw a body at it. Someone knows more than you do and they're going to solve it. It's really just about asking the right questions at the right time.
A
Yes.
B
Where can people learn more about you besides your book, Bonnie? Is there a website? Is there a YouTube channel?
A
Media. There are social media handle on social media. Bonnie Laszlo, hobby millionaire, Facebook, you know, Bonnie Laszlo, official hobby millionaire on Instagram.
B
Right on.
A
You know, I, I came up in the generation of Facebook guys. I know it's coming back.
B
There's a revergence there.
A
My Facebook is more where I've been. Right. And then I'm starting the whole Instagram stuff and all that kind of jazz.
B
But don't, don't shit on Facebook. Facebook, There's a lot of money in Facebook. There's a lot of folks that are sitting on their wealth. And you can teach other folks how to spend that money.
A
Absolutely.
B
Yeah, absolutely. All right, well, with that, Bonnie, thank you so much for your time and energy. This is Bonnie Laszlo, the founder and author, real estate hobby millionaire. And I am not an author, but I am Ray Gutierrez and we are inside success.
