Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of Lore. I've been hearing from a lot of listeners that these Deeper Lore guides are super helpful, but if you're new or haven't figured out their purpose yet, here's a quick breakdown. Over the years, I learned that a lot of folks enjoy listening to episodes about certain topics. They'll hear a brand new episode and it will spark an interest in finding other episodes that might be related. But with over 300 episodes to sort through, it can be challenging to track down specific ones. And trust me, the Lore team and I are constantly trying to find things that we know we've covered and even we have trouble doing so. So this bonus episode is my attempt to offer a guide for all the folks who are wanting to go deeper on a particular theme. Thus, Deeper Lore. This Week for episode 273 A Royal Pain we explore a specific class of ghost stories, those that are focused on royalty. From spectral queens to king killing phantoms, this episode has it all. But it's definitely not the first time we've discussed the intersection of folklore and royalty. So here are three older episodes that will pair up nicely with this week's brand new one. First up, episode 118ambition. This isn't necessarily a ghost episode, but it certainly is situated right right in the royal court, specifically in France. It's a wild ride too, covering a deadly moment in French history known as the Affair of the Poisons. Do check it out Next download episode 152, follow the Leader. Some monarchs return to haunt the places that they've lived, but in a few instances, those ghostly kings and queens choose a different sort of location. This classic episode explores the folklore of the wild hunt and the regal characters leading the charge. And finally, I recommend you go listen to episode 221, remote control now. Confession. This one is only tangentially related to royalty, but it's relevant enough to fit in. This episode is all about love spells and those who use them for nefarious purposes, both nobility and commoners alike. It's a fascinating and terrifying collection of stories, so give it a listen and there you go, folks. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 118, 152 and 220 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. You can just scroll through your app to find them, or you can tap their direct links in the description of this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.
