Hey, folks. Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide for the most recent episode of Lore. My team and I have made hundreds of episodes of this podcast over the last decade. Over 320Something if I could remember correctly. So I know how frustrating it can be when you hear an episode and it sparks a memory of a similar topic from a few years ago and you simply can't track it down. And that's where Deeper Lore comes in. The goal here is to quickly point you in the direction of some older related episodes so that you can keep this week's topic alive a little longer and, you know, go deeper into the lore. Thus the name Deeper Lore. This week for episode 280, Flower Power, we take a more flavorful approach to folklore. Now, obviously, a ton of stories that we've covered over the years focus on people who use the natural resources around them to do suspicious things. Old women crafting medicinal cures and being confused as witches, that sort of thing. But for this episode, we we look deeper at the tools rather than the people. But it's not the first time that we've discussed powerful substances. So here are just three older episodes that pair up real nicely with this week's new one. First, episode 81 on the Edge. This episode follows a really bizarre outbreak in a small French town that turns out to have a fairly natural source. But that didn't stop people from assuming that it was the work of the devil and generating a massive public panic in the process. Give this one a listen for the full story. Next, check out episode 118, Ambition. It's another French story, but it's focused on a very politically ambitious group of people and their use of deadly poisons. This one is terrifying simply because of how easy it seems that it was to pull off. And finally, there's episode 166, Toxic. This episode is straight up a global tour of poison and the killers who used it to think about it as a collection of stories that might seem to have people as the main players, but the true characters are the chemicals they used. And there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 81, 118 and 166 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. Just scroll through the app and find them. Or you can tap their direct links in the description for this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.
