Hey folks, Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of Lore. In this short bonus episode, I'll dig into our vast 10 year archive and point out some old episodes that fit well with this week's newest. The hope is that you can keep this spooky feeling going well into the weekend, putting a handful of episodes into a new, more powerful context. So let's get started, shall we? This week for episode 284, Grounded, we actually explore one of my favorite topics, graveyards and burial traditions. But it's not the first time that we've stepped through those wrought iron gates and dug deep for stories. Oh no, there's plenty to find in our archives, so here are three older ones that will pair up nicely with this week's episode. First up, episode 19 Bite Marks. This classic lore episode begins with a short discussion of poltergeists, but it quickly shifts over to one of the creepiest graveyards around, Greyfriars in Edinburgh, Scotland. Fair warning though, this one might cause you to look over your shoulder once or twice. Next download episode 30, Deep and Twisted Roots. It's mostly a vampire episode, covering some of the earliest tales on record, but it's also a journey that visits the graveyard once or twice. And what happens in those graveyards and is really difficult to believe. And finally, there's episode 72, a grave mistake. It's one of my favorites for a couple of reasons. First, more vampires. Need I say more? And second, There's a large portion of the episode that is set in London's Highgate Cemetery, which has to be one of the most hauntingly beautiful graveyards on the planet.
