Hey folks. Aaron here. Welcome back to another edition of Deeper Lore, a bonus episode that's designed to serve as a topical guide to the most recent episode of Lore. In this short bonus episode, I'm going to dig into our archive of over 11 years of topics and point out some old episodes that fit well with this week's newest. The hope is that you can keep this spooky feeling going well into the weekend, putting a handful of old episodes into a new, more powerful context. So. But let's get started, shall we? This week for Lore 312 to serve man, we sunk our teeth into a bit of cannibalism folklore. But this isn't the first such dish that we've ever served up for you. So here are three older episodes that will pair nicely with this week's new one. First up, go listen to episode 18, Hunger Pains. This creature feature is all about that hungry beast from the north, the Wendigo. This has always been one of my favorite monsters in folklore, and the way those beliefs have intersected with real life is pretty tragic. Next download episode 113. Word of Mouth Medicinal cannibalism might feature heavily in my brand new history book, Exhumed, but my fascination with that dark corner of folklore started with this episode. Pull up a chair and dig in. And finally, there's episode 122, the shortest straw. This is one of those stories that Lore was built on, a truly horrifying real world event that pivoted around folk beliefs on a particular topic. There's just enough room in the boat for you to climb in and watch it all unfold, so give it a listen and there you go. Follow up this week's brand new episode with a trip into the past. Episodes 18, 113 and 122 are waiting for you in this podcast feed. You can just scroll through your app to find them, or you can tap on their direct links in the description for this episode. And until next time, stay spooky.
