She graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida and was a valedictorian of her class at the University of Florida College of Medicine. She is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association and will be taking her board examination in the fall of 2022.

In their conversation, Drs. Tro and Laura talk about How Dr. Laura found her way into medicine and, ultimately, into nutrition and lifestyle, Dr. Laura's biggest influences, how Dr. Laura became involved in the Society of Metabolic Health Practitioners, reversal of metabolic syndrome and treating patients with lifestyle, the biggest factors in developing a successful philosophy of medical care, the lack of quality and comprehensiveness in medical education, and the danger of uncritical thinking.
