One day your child is their “healthy normal” self, and the next day they’re radically changed, displaying neuropsychiatric symptoms that can scare and bewilder the child, their families and carers/teachers. The heartbreaking thing is it can take months if not years, to find a doctor who can identify and start treating the cause of this sudden change.

Enter Dr Nancy O’Hara. We look at PANS/PANDAS and the genetic, environmental and incidence-based reasons something sudden like this can happen to a child and most importantly, how we can do 2 things. Firstly, mitigate risk by being more literate in causal factors and knowing how to proactively support children’s health and resilience. Secondly, know how to spot the changes in kids - some subtle and some severe, so that you can start treating and healing the child soon and avoid being bounced around to a few doctors and practitioners before they get the support and treatment they need.
