If you have ever felt like something is off in your gut and nobody has been able to explain why, this episode is for you. On this episode of the Medical Disruptor, I sit down with Dr. Supriya Rao, a quadruple board certified gastroenterologist, to talk about what chronic gut symptoms are actually telling you, why the gut-brain connection is one of the most undertreated areas in medicine today, and what it looks like when a doctor goes beyond the standard workup to find real answers. We cover the truth about IBS, how hormones affect gut health in ways most people never get told, where GLP-1s actually fit into the picture, and the one question Dr. Rao says almost no patient ever thinks to ask. Your gut has been trying to tell you something. It's time to listen. Want more practical health tips? You had COVID. You recovered. Except you didn't. The fatigue is still there. The brain fog. The shortness of breath. The feeling that your body just isn't yours anymore. And when you brought it up, you were told to give it time. That's not an answer. That's medical gaslighting. In this episode I'm breaking down the real biology behind why so many people never fully bounce back after COVID, and why the standard workup misses it almost every time. We cover what Long COVID actually is, why the severity of your infection has nothing to do with whether you get it, and how it can hit your brain, gut, heart, and nervous system all at once. I'll walk you through the ACE2 pathway, what happens when it gets disrupted, and why that single mechanism explains so many of the seemingly unrelated symptoms people are living with. We'll also get into mitochondrial dysfunction, why it's the reason you crash after any exertion, and the six recovery pillars that address the actual mechanism instead of just managing what's loud. If you have been dismissed, told to be patient, or made to feel like you're overreacting, this episode is for you. Your experience is real. The biology backs it up. And now you have the language to prove it. Want more practical health tips? If you've hit your 40s and suddenly feel like you're losing it, waking up at 3 a.m., feeling on edge for no reason, exhausted in a way that sleep doesn't fix, I want you to hear this: it might not be anxiety. It might be perimenopause. In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Bojana Jankovic Weatherly, a double board-certified physician in internal and integrative medicine, to talk about the symptoms most of us are normalizing and most doctors are missing. We get into why progesterone decline shows up as anxiety, insomnia, and those 3 a.m. wake-ups long before any hot flash ever does, and why so many women in this stage of life are sent home with an antidepressant or an Ambien instead of an honest conversation about their hormones. That's medical gaslighting, and it's stealing years of quality of life from women in their 40s. We talk about why hormone testing isn't the answer, what to track instead, and when to ask your doctor about progesterone even if you're still getting a regular period. If you've been told to lose some weight, try meditation, or just push through, this one is for you. You're not crazy. You're not weak. You're hormonal, and there is so much we can actually do about it. Self Gaslighting yourself in the exam room? Ketones may be the most underrated fuel source in human metabolism, and most people only hear about them in the context of intermittent fasting or the ketogenic diet. When your body burns fat, it produces ketones- molecules that have been shown to support brain health, heart health, cognitive function, and longevity. The problem is that fasting and strict keto aren't realistic for most people, so the question is: Is there actually a way to get the benefits of ketones without giving up food? That's exactly what my guest this week on the Medical Disruptor set out to answer. Dr. Latt Mansor earned his PhD in metabolism from Oxford and is the lead scientist behind Ketone-IQ, a ketone-based drink that gives the body the same fuel source you'd typically only access through fasting. In this episode of The Medical Disruptor, we're going deep on how ketones work, why your metabolism may be the missing piece in your health story, and how to use ketosis to take your energy, focus, and longevity to the next level. I cover what ketones really are and why your brain and heart love them, the science behind intermittent fasting, paleo, and ketogenic diets, and why so many women are told their fatigue and brain fog are "normal" when their metabolism is actually the root cause. We get into how exogenous ketones work, who they're for, and practical ways to use them without overhauling your entire life. If you've been medically gaslit about your energy, your weight, or your metabolic health and told everything looks "fine," this conversation is going to give you a completely different lens. You don't have to fast to feel better. You just need the right information, and that's what we're here for. Get your ketones here → https://ketone.com/disruptor Want more practical health tips? Metabolism gets oversimplified all the time. Eat less, move more. That's the whole conversation. For a lot of people, that's where medical gaslighting begins. In this solo episode, I wanted to slow down and actually explain what metabolism is: your body's system for managing energy. Not a measure of effort or discipline, actually a biological process influenced by multiple factors at once. I walk through four of the most important ones: food quality, insulin signaling, the microbiome, and mitochondrial function. I also get into why the "calories in, calories out" model doesn't account for how differently your body processes various foods, and why nutrigenomics, the study of how food communicates with your genes, changes the way we should be thinking about nutrition entirely. We also talk about Akkermansia, a gut bacterium that's showing up more and more in metabolism research, and the role of polyphenol-rich foods in supporting it. The episode closes with a practical checklist you can actually use: healthy fats, eating a wide variety of colorful plants, reducing refined sugar and flour, incorporating intentional movement, targeted nutrients, and consistent sleep. The goal of this conversation is less blame, more clarity. Fewer generalizations that leave people feeling stuck or at fault for something that has a real biological explanation. Most people have been told to brush, floss, and show up for cleanings. What most people have never been told is that the bacteria living in your mouth can travel directly into your bloodstream and contribute to heart attack, stroke, Alzheimer's disease, and cancer. That missing information is medical gaslighting in one of its most systemic forms. In this episode of the Medical Disruptor Podcast, I sit down with Dr. Ellie Campbell, a family medicine physician with thirty years of clinical experience and advanced training in oral systemic health. Together, we trace back a structural gap in medicine that has been in place since 1840, the year dentistry was formally separated from the rest of the body. Two separate schools, two separate licensing boards, two separate clinical vocabularies. The result is a system where your cardiologist and your periodontist may never speak to each other, and where the source of your chronic inflammation can go completely undetected. This is one of the clearest examples of medical gaslighting that does not announce itself. Nobody tells you your symptoms are in your head. The information is simply never connected, bleeding gums get minimized, root canals are cleared without a conversation about downstream effects. The bacteria move and the inflammation builds. And the standard workup catches none of it. When the system was never designed to look for something, it will never find it. And when it never finds it, it stops asking. The gap is real, and it is medical gaslighting. Want more practical health tips? You are exhausted and you have been for a while. Feeling exhausted all the time is NOT normal. If you have been told otherwise, that is medical gaslighting. This episode is about what happens in between feeling completely depleted and getting an answer that actually explains it. I am breaking down adrenal fatigue, what it really is, why conventional medicine does not always recognize it, and why that does not mean what you are experiencing is not real. I cover the physiology of cortisol and how your stress response system is supposed to work, what happens when years of chronic pressure start to disrupt that rhythm, and why most standard workups are not designed to catch this pattern. This is not about blaming your lifestyle or telling you to try harder. It is about understanding what is actually happening in your body. What we cover: -The four main stages of adrenal dysregulation and how to identify which one fits your experience -What cortisol testing actually tells you versus what it misses -Why "normal" labs can coexist with very real, very disruptive symptoms -Practical steps to start rebuilding your system with or without a formal diagnosis If you have spent months or years being dismissed while your body keeps telling a different story, this episode gives you the language and the framework to finally make sense of it. What happens when the system that is supposed to have all the answers reaches the end of its toolbox and you leave believing that is all there is? The Medical Disruptor brings you vetted clinicians who have practiced inside the system long enough to see where it breaks down. This week, Dr. Aaron Hartman, triple board-certified physician and author of Uncurable, sits down with Dr. E to talk about the patients medicine labels hopeless, the diagnoses that function as a dead end instead of a starting point, and the moment his own family became the case conventional medicine had no answer for. His adopted daughter was given a prognosis medicine considered final. Two decades later, she has had zero surgeries. The average child with her diagnosis has had thirteen. In this conversation, Dr. Hartman connects medical gaslighting directly to the blind spots built into clinical training, breaks down why uncurable is often just the system's word for the edge of its toolbox, and walks through the diagnostic territory that root-cause medicine is willing to explore when conventional care has stopped asking questions. From gut dysfunction and environmental toxins to low-dose naltrexone and fatty acid analysis, this episode covers what gets left behind when the algorithm runs out. Want more practical health tips? The Medical Disruptor is here to give you real, science-backed guidance with no selling, no gimmicks, and no agenda. Mold illness is one of the most commonly missed drivers of chronic symptoms. When brain fog, fatigue, hormone disruption, gut issues, and unexplained nerve sensations don't show up on standard labs, the system runs out of tools and patients get left without answers. In this episode, I break down exactly why mold toxicity affects some people and not others, what the multi-system symptom pattern actually looks like, and what testing can actually catch it. I walk you through what type of testing you can ask for, the glutathione challenge prep that makes results more accurate, and how to identify whether your home or office is the source. We also cover the full treatment arc from removing exposure to binders, detox support, and realistic recovery timelines. If you have been searching for information on mold you can trust, this episode is a place to start. Want more practical health tips? The Medical Disruptor exists for one reason: to give patients free access to clinicians who are brave enough to tell the truth. No products. No upsells. Just board-certified doctors who trained inside the system and eventually hit a wall it could not explain. Dr. Ali Elahi is one of them. A neurologist with nearly two decades of conventional practice, he watched the same patients cycle through the same appointments, collect the same normal results, and leave with the same antidepressants while their brains quietly declined. In this episode, we dig into why memory loss and cognitive decline are routinely dismissed as depression or stress, how pharmaceutical money shapes what neurologists are taught, and why a clinically supported brain treatment called transcranial magnetic stimulation stays hidden from the patients who need it most. This is the conversation your neurologist was never trained to have with you. What we cover: -Why early dementia is so often misdiagnosed as depression or anxiety -How pharmaceutical influence quietly shapes neurology training -What TMS is and what decades of evidence actually show -Why most TMS clinics are cutting corners and how to spot one that is not -The six questions every patient should ask before starting treatment -Why the window for early intervention matters more than most doctors admit Want more practical health tips?
