Hey, welcome to this bonus episode of Daring Creativity podcast. And unlike the last two seasons, previous seasons, there is no audiobook. The book Daring Creativity is still being written, and this podcast is my creative lab, showing me some of the ways that could be observed on the path of creativity, creative life. But what I wanted to do with these bonus episodes to actually shine a light more on a conversation from earlier in the week and pick out a few quotes from my guests and zoom in on them a little bit more. Because sometimes we just listen to conversation, we say that was fun and carry on. But with every single episode, there is so much value that my guests share with me that I now have the opportunity and the platform to share a little bit more and pick out some of the moments from the conversations that really stood out to me. So I'm going to share three quotes from my conversation with Danny Gossett and why I believe they matter.
Danny Gossett
The purpose of my work is always trying to go in the difficult route of things in terms of the process. And that's kind of the what I try to embody within all of the projects that I tackle.

I believe this reveals Danae's creative philosophy that deliberately is choosing difficulty over ease. And I think it leads to more meaningful and distinctive work. As I said in our conversation, it's not what many people would choose or admit because we look for easier, right? No one wants to admit that they are creating a difficult life for themselves. Whereas when Danae said that, I immediately realized that dedication to her craft, because in a world where efficiency and shortcuts often prioritize their commitment to the difficult route creates her signature aesthetic. I mean, you can see that a work of art and work of love and work of dedication and obsession. And that mindset reminds me of the Japanese concept of the way of tea, where the process itself becomes as important as the outcome, creating that depth and authenticity that clients sometimes can't find elsewhere. And I think it's important for our creative work. The second quote I would like to highlight is this one second I stepped.

Foot and inside of the School of Visual Arts. It's like I knew that I was in the right place and it's like I had fireworks in my brain and starting because I was always considered like a lazy person during all of my upbringing, like my entire school set studies. Like I was lazy, to be fair. And then I transformed myself into a work machine where like I could not stop thinking about work and working and I started to do like 16, 18 hour days fully. I was just like weekends every single Day became obsessed with it like and. And I didn't think that I was that I could ever find this fuel in me.

I believe this is a beautiful illustration of when moments of creativity just simply click because it captures that transformative moment when someone discovers their true calling. Her description on finding animation and design work illustrated a profound shift from struggling to fit into conventional educational system and to experience pure creative flow for very first time. And I think this quote would resonate with anyone who felt like a misfit until the proper medium and expression showed up. It does demonstrate how environment can unlock previously hidden potential. The last quote I want to showcase is this one.
Danny Gossett
I think I don't even know who said this, but it's this quote that says when the and I know it in French I'm translating in my mind. It's when the student is ready, the teacher shows up.

This is the quote, actually Danny told me when we met in at Paradiso in Mexico a few months ago. And it was that moment where when you listen to people's life stories, they tell you a little bit about themselves, but then they pick up a quote which more or less summarizes everything about what they do. And if you listen to the full conversation that I published with Danae just a couple of days ago, everything that she's done does feel like that her teachers, her mentors, her guiding lights showed up when she was ready because for most of the time she wasn't. So I think it speaks about a magical synchronicity that can occur when people are prepared to receive guidance. And is there somewhere connection between what you do and when your teacher showed up when you become ready as a student? So thank you for joining me on this bonus episode. I am trialing this new concept. Let me know if there's any value in this, how you like it, and potentially what these episodes should be titled. Thank you.
Episode: Five Minute Magic Pt.68 - "When the Student is Ready, the Teacher Appears" (Danaé Gossett Bonus Episode)
Host: Radim Malinic
Release Date: June 19, 2025
In this special bonus episode of Daring Creativity, host Radim Malinic delves deeper into the insightful conversation he had with Danaé Gossett. Quote:
"The purpose of my work is always trying to go in the difficult route of things in terms of the process. And that's kind of the what I try to embody within all of the projects that I tackle."
— Danaé Gossett [01:08]
Radim interprets this statement as a reflection of Danaé’s commitment to embracing challenges rather than opting for easier paths. This deliberate choice fosters more meaningful and distinctive work, distinguishing her in a landscape often dominated by efficiency and shortcuts. Radim draws parallels to the Japanese concept of the Way of Tea, where the journey and process hold as much significance as the final outcome. This dedication not only shapes Danaé’s unique aesthetic but also underscores the depth and authenticity that clients seek in creative endeavors.

Radim connects this poignant quote to Danaé’s experiences, particularly recalling their meeting at Paradiso in Mexico.
