Good evening and welcome to Monsters Among Us. I'm your guide, Derek Hayes. Howdy folks. It's great to have you back with us here this evening. Per usual, I have an amazing assortment of spooky tales to share with you here tonight. And per usual, I'm not going to waste any time with chit chat or banter now. We're going to get right into it, beginning with Caitlin's call out of the Buckeye State, Ohio.
Isabel
Hi, my name is Kaelyn from Ohio and I wanted to call in a story that happened to me back in the early 2000s actually in Erie, Pennsylvania. I've had a number of experiences in my life with ghosts, but this one is still pretty vivid in my mind. Our family friends had a band and they would do shows at the Erie Playhouse pretty regularly. My parents were in the show one year and they brought me along for rehearsals so myself and the other kids of the band members would run around this theater and explore while all of these rehearsals were going on. And one day when we were exploring in the Back rooms. There was a hallway with several old wooden doors. And they were the old doors with the skeleton key locks. And so you could look through the locks and see into the room. Well, we heard singing, like this angelic singing of girls. So we started looking through the locks of these doors to see where it was coming from. Because that wasn't part of the show. It couldn't have been the people rehearsing. So when I look through the lock of one of the doors, I saw something that I still question to this day. But again, it's so vivid in my mind that I know what I saw. And I'll stand by that. It was a classroom, like an old classroom with wooden desks in rows. And there were girls sitting in the desks writing. And while they were writing, they were singing. And there was a woman walking through the rows too. But these girls were dressed like from the early 1900s, kind of Victorian style. The one girl I remember so vividly, she had her hair half up and she was in a white, lacy kind of frilly dress. And she had those dark lace up boots on. They were all dressed like that. And the teacher was wearing a long dress too, the kind that has that collar that goes up to your neck and. But there was a light coming in from a row of windows on the right side of the room. Like sunlight shining on them so brightly that it looked like they were translucent. And I mean, they had to have heard us. But they didn't even look up, nothing. They just kept singing and doing their schoolwork. And anyway, one of the other kids I was with looked in too, and he saw them, but the rest of the kids were too scared to look. And I remember we all went running away down the hall. This was a theater, so I thought that maybe this was a show that they were rehearsing. But why would they be in a locked room singing like that with a teacher dressed like that going up and down the rows? And why did they look see through? I mean, that's not normal when light hits you like that to look translucent. So I did some research on this theater recently. And I found out before it was the Erie Playhouse, it was called the Strand Theater. And it was originally built in 1915. It was demolished and they built the Erie Playhouse. So it's just very interesting to me that that theater was built in 1915. And that's the kind of clothing these people or apparitions were wearing or what the girls would have looked like back then. So I'm 35 now and I can still see that girl sitting there in the desk like it was yesterday, just singing and working on her schoolwork. And I don't know. And again, I've seen ghosts when I was younger and so I don't know. I'll stand by this, but that's my story and I love the podcast. Take care.

What an incredible encounter and what a way to kick off tonight's broadcast. Thank you, Kaylin, for calling in. Now, this certainly sounds like a time slip to me, a momentary glitch in time, or micro time travel, if you will. Now, you might find yourself walking down your block, only to look up and realize that it is indeed your block. But suddenly you've been Transported to nearly 100 years ago. Horses fill the streets and chimney smoke fills the air. Or in Kaylyn's case, a classroom where a theater should be. Now, Delaney did all sorts of digging on this story. We thought for sure we could find evidence that the theater was once a school, or at least that there was a school in the place where the theater is now built. But to our surprise, we found nothing. Then we thought maybe we could find some proof that the theater was temporarily used as classrooms, perhaps during a renovation or a natural disaster. But we could not find any proof of that either. But that's not to say that all of this didn't happen. After all, there were two witnesses to the slip. If that's in fact what it was, a time slip. He didn't come up completely empty handed, though. There are a couple of schools a block or so away from the theater, and Delaney managed to find a photo from one of them taken all the way back in the 1920s. And what's interesting about this photo is that the girls all seem to be wearing the exact same clothing that Kaylin described seeing that day. So maybe take a look in the show notes. Kayelyn, tell me if the folks in that photograph look familiar to you. Other than that, that's all we have on this one, I'm afraid. But perhaps this story helped open the door to allow more of these time slip stories to filter through. Let's hope so, because they sure are a lot of fun. So thank you again, Kalen, for sharing the tale. Now folks, I have a whole slew of stories to share with you tonight. Scary stories. But first, a quick word from tonight's sponsors. Hey Derek, my name is Isabel. I'm calling from Minnesota. So this happened about four or five years ago. I think it was fall because it was dark out pretty early, but it wasn't snowy yet. And here in Minnesota we get snow early in the winter. So one day my friends and I decided to play hide and seek in a mostly empty field on a hill. There was a bunch of trees around, but not much else. There was a street close by. My friend's house was across the street, so we weren't like in the middle of nowhere or anything. The field was like maybe a block around in its entirety. So we decided to hide. And it was getting pretty dark out and my friend started counting and he had us back to the street and I decided that I would be clever and hide in the opposite direction of the field, like closer to the street, because I figured he'd just immediately go into the field and not even check my spot. And so he finished counting and I was right. He walked off into the field. Didn't even look in my spot, Didn't Even look in my direction. So I just sat there and waited. And I was like, all right, cool, I'm chilling. And I waited so long that when we started playing, it was kind of dark. The moon was out. By the time I was like, okay, you know what? I think I've won this game. I don't like being in the dark alone. And so I was getting anxious. So I decided I'm gonna go find them. I go out into the field and I find them pretty quick. But when I find them, they're like, oh, my God, where have you been? We've been looking all over. We've been shouting your name. Where have you been? And I'm like, I didn't hear any of that. And they're like, we've been hearing voices this entire time. And we are freaking out. We're leaving now. And so we break into a sprint. We run all the way back to my friend's house, to the secret's house. So over the years, I've asked them for more details about all of this. Because that little story there is like, okay, that's weird. And so I've asked them for my details. They consistently tell me that what happened was the Seeker went off into the hills and he found the other Hider pretty fast because he heard voices coming from her spot. And when he was getting closer, you're like, oh, that must be Isabella and the other Hider. So he gets close and he realizes, oh, this is just the one Hider. And so if she tells him, she's like, oh, I heard voices coming towards me and thought it was you and Isabelle. And obviously I wasn't with either of them. They're together now, and then they both start hearing voices all over. Like everywhere they go, they hear whispers, or it sounds like whispers all over it, and there's no source. No matter where they go, they're consistently loud and they're everywhere. And so they're like, okay, this is super weird. And they start shouting my name, and they're like, isabella, what is she writing? And this entire time, I'm sitting in one spot. I did not move. I never moved. And I've asked multiple times. I've shown them the spot I was hiding. I've asked a ton of times, are you sure you passed here? And they always tell me, they're like, yeah, we're absolutely sure. We checked right there. We checked the entire field. You were nowhere. I didn't move. They didn't see me. I didn't hear them. I don't know what happened. I really don't understand because I was sitting in the one spot and they've confirmed multiple times that they checked there and they didn't see me. So I don't know where I went. It's so weird and I don't know. The whole thing makes me a little uneasy. Thanks for sharing my story. Love the podcast. Have a good evening.
JB
Bye.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Isabelle. Now, we used to play night tag all the time when I was a kid. Those hot Ohio nights where there would be five or six of us out there running around chasing each other through the woods. We saw what we thought was a UFO once, but it was so long ago that I can't even recall what it looked like. Other than that, we've never experienced anything weird playing the game, certainly no strange whispering like Isabel had described. And it's a good thing, probably because a thing like that will really put a damper on a good game of nighttag. So thank you again, Isabelle, for taking the time to share and reminding me of just how good we used to have it. Now, folks, the show cannot continue if you don't share your strange experience. But don't worry, doing so is super, super easy. Just call our hotline at 888-608-night. That's 888608, Nig HT. Or record a voice memo on your phone and email the file to me at monsters among us podcastmail.com now, of course, we're actively looking for all paranormal or supernatural experiences, but we're especially requesting camping stories of all sorts and monster stories. A few weeks back, we had several listeners in the Facebook group request more monster stories, and I'm happy to oblige if people call them in. So one more time, that's 888608 night, and I'll be patiently waiting. But I'll tell you what, you don't have to wait much longer to hear tonight's next eerie entry because Ashley from Texas is ready with her story.
Kaelyn
Hi Derek. My name is Ashley. I now live in Texas, and my story that I'm going to tell you takes place in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I decided to call this in after I heard a call from New York about the silver sphere that exploded into a firework on Veterans Day, November 2018. It was November 11th. I and my two daughters were getting breakfast in Kenosha, Wisconsin. It was at a place called Mike's Chicken and Donuts. It's no longer there, but you can probably still see where it was. Anyway, so we were sitting at a window seat and I just so happened to look up and out toward Lake Michigan. I see two silver spheres going from southwest to a northeast, like, diagonal sort of pattern over Lake Michigan. They started from like, where I was sitting above my head, going out toward what would be considered like the northern part of the lower peninsula of Michigan. They were perfectly spherical. If I were to guess, they would be probably about a mile apart from one another in the sky. And that's a bad guess, but it is a guess. But anyway, they were high up, but I could tell that they were silver spheres. I could see no definition. I couldn't see, you know, if there were lines on the spheres or if there were windows. I couldn't say anything. But I can tell you there was absolutely no exhaust. There was no sign of any type of propulsion system going on there. They were just silver spheres that were flying parallel to one another from a southwest direction to a northeast direction over Mike's Chicken and Donuts in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I and my daughter saw it. And it's been crazy to know that I saw that in broad daylight. 11am or so. Bright, super sunny, clear sky. It was cold out, but I just thought that perhaps you would be interested in hearing that. I love your show. Don't ever change. Don't change the intro. I love the intro. It's a comfort thing for me. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Don't worry, that theme song isn't going anywhere. Thank you, Ashley. Now, believe it or not, the Kenosha area is a bit of a hotbed for UFO or UAP sightings, Though most of the reports that put them there describe fireballs or glowing lights in the sky, not the shiny silver spheres that Ashley described. But that doesn't mean that those encounters don't exist. To the contrary, actually. In fact, we managed to dig up a report from the National UFO Reporting center that not only took place there in Kenosha, but also seemed to describe the exact same phenomena that Ashley experienced. Sighting number 1888. Date of sighting, July 6, 2024. A spherical object flew eastward at constant speed and elevation. No lights, no sound, no deviation from course. While standing outside just after 7pm on a clear summer evening, I observed a black or possibly metallic spherical object flying high in the sky. Based on its appearance and behavior, I estimate it was at least 30,000ft up, possibly higher or lower, depending on its true size, which was hard to judge due to the lack of reference. It moved in a perfectly straight line from west to east toward Lake Michigan at a constant speed and unchanging altitude. It did not emit Any light left no contrail and made no sound. The sun was beginning to set, so the object was silhouetted dark against the sky, which made me suspect it was metallic. It did not resemble any commercial jet, drone or balloon. It also did not follow an arc like a satellite. It was clearly within our atmosphere. So there you go, Ashley. And if that entry wasn't convincing enough, I've also linked to another similar account in tonight's Show Notes at monsters among us podcast.com and under the Show Notes tab. You're not alone in what you saw, Ashley. That much we do know. But figuring out what it was, that's another issue altogether. For now, thank you for taking the time to call in. Now, trust me when I say these strange aerial objects are not confined to the state of Wisconsin. People are seeing them everywhere. And now that the government has recognized that, we do in fact have visitors, stories like this next one take on a lot more importance. Please welcome Alexis from the Hawkeye State of Iowa.
Amber
Hi, this is Alexis from Iowa. And at about 6:00 clock this morning, I noticed something in the sky. It was kind of glowing and every time I would look away, it would start to move again. So I finally go back inside and I look through my daughter's window and I look up at the sky and it's like faint. But now it's moving and now it's like it noticed I was looking at it. So it stopped again. I went back into my room to finish getting dressed and stuff for work and it's like 6:07 and I look and it like disappeared back into the clouds. I don't know what it was, but it was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. Just something glowing and hiding back into the clouds. Basically it just turned back into a star. Almost is what it looked like, but I don't know what it was. If you can explain what it was, I can't wait to hear it on the podcast. So I'll continue listening. Thank you.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Alexis. It's getting warmer out there, folks, and people are staying out later and well after dark. And if that's you, be sure to look up every once in a while. If you blink, you can miss it. But thankfully, Alexis did not fall into that camp. Thank you again, Alexis, for sharing your entry. It sounds pretty incredible. Whatever it was that you saw.

JB
Hi, my name is jb. I live in Central Texas. So this story starts off when I was a little kid, I mean like three or four. I was really small and I was with family and we were staying in East Tennessee at one of my aunt's house and my aunt had a new baby, my little cousin. And anyways, I'd been sitting up with my aunt watching TV and she heard the baby upstairs crying. So she told me just wait here, I'll be right back. I'm gonna go up there and rock her back to sleep. So she goes up and she was up there for a little while and I was getting kind of spooked because I was just a little kid. And so after about, I don't know, 20 minutes or so, I decided I wanted to go up there too. I didn't want to be down there by myself anymore. I remember I was small enough that when I climbed the stairs, I was climbing like hands and feet that was stepping up the stairs. I was like bear climbing up the stairs and I got to the top step and right when I got to the very top step at the bottom of the stairs as crystal clear, I could hear it right now in my mind. I heard this growl, but not like a growl like a dog. It was like a lion that you hear on National Geographic. Like a deep bellowing, echoing, guttural. I don't even know how to explain it. A growl that no human can make and no dog for sure. I remember when I heard it, I was so terrified as a child that I just fell into a ball on the top step and just started bawling. Like I just went limp, I remember and I just closed my eyes and I knew I was about to get eaten by whatever it was. And I was just crying and crying and crying. And my aunt, of course, came running to me. I tried to explain what happened and I don't remember what she said, but that was my first experience with this growl. So fast forward, years and years later, I'm living in Seeley, Texas. And we moved into this big nice new house I picked. My room was actually originally a storage room. And so it was at the back of the house and it was real long and narrow. I remember I had bunk beds that I had taken apart. And so I had two separate beds and it was just wide enough for my single bunk bed to fit at the one end. And at the other end I had my stereo. And so one night I'm laying there in bed and I remember playing the day Metallica was playing on the radio. And I'm laying with my back towards the radio, facing the wall. The wall's right there in front of me and I'm about to fall asleep. I'm right the cusp. Fall asleep. And I hear that exact same deep, bellowing, guttural growl at the other end of the room. So immediately, of course, I'm wide awake and I'm like, okay, falling asleep, that was a dream. Just quickly get up, go turn the radio off. Some shirt. Was something on the radio or you were starting a dream or something. So I get up quickly, run, of course, turn the light on and turn the stereo off. Mind you, I'm a junior in high school at this point. I'm captain of the varsity football team. You know, I'm thinking I'm tough, dude, and all this stuff. So I come back and I get back in bed and I'm like, whatever, that was just your imagination or something. But it was the same exact growl. It immediately came to my mind when I heard it. The instance when I was a little kid. So I'm like, alright, dude, just tough it out. So I lay back down and just to prove that I'm not afraid, I again roll over and face the wall, but back to the room. But I'm wide awake at this point. I'm not dozing off or anything close to it. And all of a sudden I hear that same deep bellowing growl. But this time it's right on the back of my neck. Like I could feel the breath. I could feel it on the back of my neck. I was frozen with fear. I just started to pray. Like that's all I could think to do is pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray. And I just Started praying and praying and praying and praying and praying and praying. And I'm thinking myself, I got to get out of here. So while I'm praying like, okay, on the count of three, I'm gonna roll over and punch as hard as I can and hopefully hit whatever's there. I just gotta get out of here. So that's what I did. I rolled over, swung my fist as hard as I could and I ran out of the room. And by the time I got to my parents room, I was crying. Like that. Hard, uncontrollable cry, like that, like that kind of cry. Like I was so afraid. I woke my parents up. They were like, what is going on? They had no idea what was happening. I told them what happened. My parents were very religious and whatnot, very involved with church. So they immediately prayed over me, over my room. But I wouldn't go back in my room for about two months. I slept with my older sister, and I'm a junior and she's five years older than me. I'd slept in her room. She had a king sized bed, we put pillows in between and I would lay on one side and she'd lay on the other. But I was not going back in that room. So fast forward again. My first experience, I was three years old. Second experience, I'm a junior in high school. This last experience, I'm in my 40s and I'm at my ranch. I go out, you know, a couple times a month and check my feeders and whatnot and make sure they're full and everything's up to par. And so a couple years ago, I'm out there and I'm by myself. No big deal. Being in the woods has never bothered me or scared me at all. I don't get afraid in the woods. In fact, I'm much more comfortable in the woods than I am in the city. But so anyways, I'm out there and I've got a little pistol on my hip. I'm putting corn on a feeder. I get up on a ladder and I'm pouring a diet of corn in this feeder. And my truck's parked. And behind my truck is probably the thickest batch of woods on my property. And as I'm coming down off the ladder, I hear that same deep, guttural growl coming from those woods. And it's not dark, it's daylight. I mean, it's dusk, but it's still plenty bright. So this time, as an adult now, I'm. My senses are extremely heightened. All of a sudden, my adrenaline's going through the roof. But I'm not afraid now. I'm off. I mean, I'm afraid a little bit, right? Don't get me wrong. So now I start talking smack to whatever it is. I go get my AR15 out of our truck, I make sure it's locked and loaded and I'm like, you're not scaring me off my property. You've been trying to scare me my whole life. You wanted to come out, come out now. So I started talking smack. Of course I've got my rifle in my hand. Not that that would do anything if it's supernatural, but it made me feel better. And so I'm like, I'm gonna finish doing what I came to do. So I grabbed my other bag of corn and I got my rifle in my other hand and I carry it over there. And sure enough, as I'm walking away from the woods, it does it again. Plain as day, Crystal clear. Loud, deep bellowing, guttural growl echoing coming from those woods. I turn and I look and I shine my light. I've got a light on my rifle so I can see a little bit better because it's now starting to get darker pretty quick. Of course I don't see anything. I go finish putting that bag of corn in, I walk back to my truck and I quickly leave and drive on back home. So that's my story. I don't know what it was, but it's visited me three times in my life. So, yeah, alright, keep it up. Talk to you later. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Thanks JB for ringing in. Now, the only thing I can think of that would be worse than experiencing disembodied growling would be to experience it more than once and over such a wide range of time. It sounds like something might be following you around, jp. Now, as far as answers go, I have none, but I do have appreciation for the entry, jb. So thank you again for taking the time to send it in. Now, next up is a call that should have ended up on our Cats and Dogs episode from a week or two ago, but I guess late is better than never. Please welcome this anonymous caller out of the state of Wisconsin.
Anonymous Caller
Hello, I'm calling from Wisconsin. I'd like to share a story about something that had happened to me about 10, 12 years ago. I was visiting a friend who lived in rural Wisconsin. She lived in an old farmhouse that was built back in the 1800s, and I was visiting her. I'd been there many times and I used her restroom. And as I was coming out of her Bathroom. When I opened the door, this white cat came running basically between my legs. Like I actually moved my leg to let it through. And I looked at my friend and I said, oh, you got another cat now they had a cat named Midnight, obviously a dark cat. And she looked at me and kind of smiled and she said, oh no, honey, that's our ghost cat. I looked at her, I said, oh really? And she goes, no, I'm serious. We see it all the time. The kids see it. At the time she was running a daycare out of her home. And she said, her daycare kids have seen it. And I just look to her, I'm like, okay. She's like, well, you know, this is an older home and there's a lot of things that go on here. They've seen full body apparitions, they've heard noises, walking, she's had visits in the night, things like that. Her children have experienced it as well. And her husband, even though he claims to not really believe in this kind of thing, he's had experiences he just can't explain. Nonetheless, so afterwards I was just very shocked because I know what I saw. I mean, I had to move my leg to let this cat through. I guess it just goes to show that everything really does have residual energy. And my first ghostly encounter was with a cat. Just thought it was a fun story. Love your show and thank you so much for listening to my tale.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, caller. I want a ghost cat. I wonder how you go about getting one of those. We've lost two of our cats here at the house and so far not a single sign of either of them coming back to visit. Which I guess kind of makes me happy because I'd hate to think they were hanging around here just for us. But as for the white ghost cat, I have to imagine that phantom feline is enjoying its afterlife. It certainly sounds like it's become a staple of the household at the very least. So thank you again for the story, caller. As I said a few weeks ago, I love a good ghost cat story. People live better.

The Internet has created a world in which pretty much any family owned and operated since nineteen nineteen seventy two. Now this next entry takes us to Tennessee. Renee, welcome to the show.
Renee
Hi Derek and Monsters among us family. This is Renee from Tennessee. I'm going to start with like the most craziest paranormal experience that I had. So I live in Tennessee now. I'm 31 years old and I'm from Missouri. So I remember the year because something happened to me significantly like the day after this happened. But I don't want to say what that was, but it had to have been like the year 2006. Going into 2007, I would have been like 12 or 13 years old. So this is the summertime. I've always been a night owl. And my family of one in five kids and my parents, we all grew up in like a small little three bedroom house in Missouri, 100 miles north of St. Louis. We were all out of school. This is in the middle of the summertime. Everybody was sleeping. I was a night owl of the family, always staying up. I still stay up. I work overnights right now. But anyway, I was watching a movie, laying on the couch. I think our little brother was on the couch with me. Whatever the night goes on. The movie I remember specifically too was Overboard with Goldie Hawn and whoever she's married to. But the movie goes on and I'm just, you know, I gotta pee. So I get up to go pee. And so with this house, like where we lived, I was small. Basically when you walked into the front doors, the front room, and then there was a wall behind you and that's where the TV was at. And like across from the wall, the TV is the couch. Then next to the couch is like the doorway where you walked to go towards the back of the house. And from the front room was me and my sister's room. And then that opened up into the kitchen. And then right through the kitchen was the bathroom right next to the stove. So each doorway, essentially you could look straight down the doorway and just see right from the front room door back to the bathroom door. I mean, it was a little staggered like the doorways, but I mean, essentially you could see straight through. There was nothing in my peripheral or nothing that could be there. But anyway, next to the bathroom doorway was the oven. And so I got up to go to the bathroom and there's a hat man. The hat man was sitting on the stove. I was terrified. He was sitting there and he was swinging his legs, like, you know, like when your legs can't reach the floor, you're a kid, you know, you just swing your legs back and forth, which is weird because I didn't hear his legs hitting the, like, oven, you know, But I didn't see no facial features. Definitely wide brim hat. Look at his shadow guy. He was just dark and it was scary. Kind of getting shaky talking about this. So that was my experience with the hat man. Shadow man. I didn't know anybody else had seen him until I started listening to your podcast and other paranormal podcasts. And I was like, oh, my gosh, other people have seen him. This is scary and crazy. But thank you and you all have a good day.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Renee. You know, there used to be a time when I thought that all these shadow men and hatman entities could do was stand at the end of a long, darkened hallway or dart back and forth between an open doorway or block the light coming from another room. But lately we're starting to hear all sorts of stories about what these beings are capable of. So we appreciate your entry here, Renee. Thank you for adding data to the pile. And that brings us to tonight's closer, a real hair raising experience. If you will, please join me in welcoming Amber from the state of Ohio.
Amber
Hi, Derek, my name is Amber. I am calling from Ohio. Recently started listening to the podcast. My boyfriend recommended you. I have a story that I think would really fit in well with the vibe of this podcast and the experiences that you share. So here goes again. I'm from Ohio. My experience takes place on what I believe to be the outskirts of Kentucky going into Tennessee. So somewhere right there along the border of the two states. I was leaving from Brookville, Ohio, and I specifically remember going through Indiana. But if Anybody wants to try to pull up my travel location. I was traveling from Brooksville, Ohio, to right around Dover, Tennessee. I was traveling right around the week leading into Thanksgiving to go spend Thanksgiving with a close friend of mine and her family. It was roughly 3, 4 o' clock in the morning on a lonely, deserted highway. I was the only vehicle traveling at the time that my experience occurred. Now, to give you kind of an insight of how the highway looked, there were four lanes of highway going each way. So four lanes going the way I was going, four lanes going the opposite direction with the concrete barrier splitting the two parts of the highway. And then each part of the highway had the metal barriers on each end with woods. I hope that really makes sense now. At the time I was driving a Ford F150. I was traveling decently well at speed, speeds I probably shouldn't have been. Nonetheless, I would say from where I was to where I saw my sighting, it had to have been no more than 100ft. It was a clear night, cold, but very clear. You could see all the stars, not a cloud in sight, was not rainy, just very perfect, pristine traveling conditions. Very clear night. I could full on see head, shoulders, arms, chest, torso, legs, feet, like full on human figure crossing the highway at 3, 4 o' clock in the morning. And it was big. Like he was tall, no more than 100ft in front of me. And if I had to guess, if I was right up against him, I would say his head reached my windshield like he was tall. And my Ford F150 is just a standard F150 off the lot. It's not lifted or anything, just standard model. I watched his legs as he crossed over the concrete barrier that separates the two highways. I watched his arms move. I watched his legs bend as he walked like a human does. And he was quick. He was not running, he was just walking. I was probably doing, I believe, 90 miles an hour at the time when I saw him. I want to say it took me like maybe 10 to 15 seconds to get from where I was when I saw him to his existence, exact point from where he was in my lane. And by the time I got to the spot that he was at, he was already crossed the highway, went over the metal barrier and was in the woods. His color, it was like fall when you see dead leaves, dead grass, trees just dying because of the fall weather. He was that light brown amber color, almost looked like a ghillie suit. I'm not gonna lie. Like, it took me a good few seconds to process what I was seeing. I believe I saw bigfoot. I wish at this time I had a camera or something so I could have taken a picture, But I was driving. I did have my oldest son in the backseat at the time. He was 2 years old. And I distinctively remember him going, wow. Because he saw it, too. I didn't get to see facial features. I did see him, like, from the side. Very stocky, I guess. Husky. Yeah. It was a crazy experience. I did end up telling my friend and her husband when I got to their house the experience that I had, what I had saw. And they did tell me that they had known of eyewitness accounts seeing sightings of bigfoot around the Tennessee area. So, yeah, hopefully more people will call in or can give some insight around the Kentucky, Tennessee border on bigfoot sightings. But I'm fairly certain I saw bigfoot. And if it wasn't bigfoot, it was definitely something I've never seen in my life before. I can honestly say that in the 14 years that this has happened, My story has not changed or faltered at all. It's always been the same. And I think that's something that I will never in my life forget. I'll be honest, when I first saw him, it scared the out of me. It really did. I kind of, like, had that panic feeling of, oh, my God, he saw me. Is he gonna follow me? Nothing ever came of that, But I do believe I saw bigfoot crossing the highway. Anyways, I absolutely love what you do, so keep it up. Thank you so much. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Now. That's exciting. Thank you, Amber, for calling in. And that is exactly why you get yourself a dash camera. Now, unfortunately, Amber never says exactly which road it was she was on. So matching the story up to another encounter, at least geographically, has been a bit of a challenge. But we did manage to find a few similar accounts from that general area. And these aren't just recent stories, either. These are encounters that go back decades. Take this article from the nearby Tennessee Leader, which was published on September 13, 1979. Hairy creature roams area Bigfoot, the legendary, elusive creature that was thought to be killing dogs and hogs in the Capps Gap area of Sumner county, has apparently decided to lay low for a while. Both the dogs and swine were reported to have no scars or evidence of being attacked. And since no one actually saw them being killed, there is now some speculation that lightning may have been the cause. White House police chief Frank etherly told the leader Monday that there are plenty of rumors but no facts in the case so far he said that the department had received numerous phone calls concerning the reputed Bigfoot roaming the Caps Gap area. Some people from this area have speculated that the creature could possibly be one of the bears that used to attract tourists to the roadside souvenir and firecracker stands that dotted Highway 31. These citizens believe that possibly an owner of one of these stands failed to report the escaping of one of the bears or possibly turn the animals loose rather than find them a new home. So there's the thought. Is there any chance that it was a bear that Amber and her boy saw that night? But before you go dismissing this as a bear bear misidentification, you might want to hear this first hand account from a witness near the town of Park City, which is also in that general area. This encounter occurred in early spring of 1998 at nearly 4 o'clock in the morning. I used to work in Louisville and traveled every day via I65 to work. Leaving the farm at 3:45am Central entered I65 at Park City. Exit 48 entered Interstate Semi changed lanes to let me merge and a large, stooped but upright figure walked across the two lanes of the interstate. Both the semi and I in my pickup braked hard. The semi locked his up, but the figure did not seem aware or concerned that we were breaking this hard and continued to cross the interstate, crossing from left to right. And it walked into the grass and brush on the south side of the road and disappeared out of our headlights. There was no other traffic on the interstate at this time and the semi driver and I looked at each other as if to say what the hell. The encounter was so strong that it remains with me to this day. Now that report courtesy of Kentucky Bigfoot and what makes the sighting so interesting in conjunction with Ambers, that is, is what was learned in a follow up interview with the witness. The follow up was conducted by the Bigfoot guy in Kentucky, Charlie Raymond, and it occurred in January of 2016. And in said interview, the witness described the creature the following way. See if you can catch the connection. He estimated it at 6 foot plus, very dark in color with brownish black hair. The hair kind of reminded him of the fleece on a Corriedale sheep which he raised on his farm. The overall shape looked similar to a ghillie suit. It was bulky but not fat. That's right. Both witnesses reported that the creature looked as if it was wearing a ghillie suit. Now could it be that there's some maniac in a suit he bought off of Amazon out there? Scaring late night drivers. Sure it's possible, but keep in mind the dates of the sightings. The first article was from the late 1970s. The sighting that mentioned the Ghillie suit was from 1998. And we don't know when Amber's experience took place, but I have to imagine it was sometime after the late 90s. So if there is some jokester out there scaring people, he's been at it an awfully long time. So process all that information how you would like. Amber. There's certainly a lot to mull over, but as far as Bigfoot in Kentucky and Tennessee is concerned, I wouldn't consider either state a hotspot. But at the same time folks around those parts are more likely to be tight lipped about any sightings they have, so there could be a lot more going on down there than we even realize. Whatever the case, I love the story Amber, and I really appreciate the opportunity to share it. So thank you again for calling in. And folks, that's it for tonight. Now tonight's secret story is all about synchronicities. Please welcome Nick from Oregon.
Jack Wagner
Hey Derek.
JB
This is Nick from Portland, Oregon. I just wanted to call in about just a lot of synchronicities that have been happening this past week, one of which even had to do with you a little bit. So long story short, I recently moved from one apartment to the other. Once I got there, I realized it was, let's say, uninhabitable. Just a lot wrong with the unit that they claimed was fixed. Turned out to be so bad that they said, you know, you can break the lease. So I had about three days to find a new place and just little synchronicities kind of led me to this new place and it turns out to be just amazing. So I'm finally all unpacked and I think I'm gonna walk to the store. I need to get some dip for my pizza and a little bottle of wine. I'm in the store. My favorite ranch is on sale for $3 and I go to look at some wine and like, I don't know any of these these wines. And then I see one with three figures on it as I'm listening to Monsters Among Us that happen to be on sale and picked that one up. So hopefully this won't lead to any nightly visitors in the new place, but just wanted to call that in. Thanks for your podcast. Like others have said, it's Just really special. It was a wonderful community for people to explore these things together. So thank you. Have a good night. Bye.
Derek Hayes
When in doubt, go with the three identical men moving in unison. That's never gone wrong for anyone else. Thanks, Nick, for sharing. Now, I can't speak to the mirrored men from the wine bottle taking time from you, Nick, but I can't speak with experience in saying that the wine within can certainly have that effect. So thank you again for the fun little entry and for allowing the mirrored men to influence your life. We appreciate the phone call. And here we are, folks, the great divide between the main program and that bonus content so many of you have fallen in love with. And as I said on a recent beyond episode, I've been working hard to make each of these after shows just a little bit more robust. And as a result, not only are the episodes longer, but we're getting to hear some super interesting calls as well. Calls like ty's out of my state of California.
JB
Hey Doug, this is Ty. This is a story about my friend Sandy. This is the woman who has cerebral palsy. And again, for your listeners who don't know, cerebral palsy usually affects the brain and it's brain damage, I guess, within the brain. And generally it affects like the motor skills of the person in terms of like their speech. So when they walk or sit or eat or whatever. But Sandy was very independent, did very well for herself, worked, raised a daughter, so she did great. Ironically, it did not affect her psychic ability. She was a psychic. And red tarot cards. While Sandy was born here, her parents were English, both from England. And she would tell me the story of her grandmother who I saw a picture of, who was quite the looker back in the day. And their grandmother was a huge flirt with certain guys that she thought were attractive.
Derek Hayes
Whatever.
JB
The way I met Sandy was, she moved next door to my mother, who owned a condo. So when I would go visit my mother, that's how I met Sandy. Through my mom. Sandy moved into her condo, I think around 1993 or so. And I remember.

Notable Quote:
"It was a classroom, like an old classroom with wooden desks in rows. And there were girls sitting in the desks writing. And while they were writing, they were singing."
— Kaelyn, [03:00]
Derek’s Insight: Derek speculates that this might be a temporal glitch or micro time travel event, noting the historical consistency of the theater’s original construction date. Despite thorough research, no evidence was found that the theater was ever used as a school, leaving the mystery unresolved.
