Good evening and welcome to Monsters Among Us. I am your guide, Derek Hayes. Hello everyone. I'm glad to have you back with us here this evening. Now this is the portion of the show where I introduce tonight's topic. Each and every Tuesday, I make one up and share calls in accordance with said topic. And this week is no different. But for some of you out there, I don't have to tell you what this week's calls are about because you already know your psychic abilities grants you that power. But for the rest of you, let me spell it out. Tonight's stories are all about psychic abilities, psychics, mediums, premonition, intuition, visions, astral travel, and anything third eye related. Hey Derek, I'm going to remain anonymous, but I am calling from the state of Texas. I want to share something for Whitley, who called into the Ohio episode and shared a story about her grandmother receiving a visitation from her cousin who had overdosed that night. I have a similar experience that I just wanted to share with her. I will tell you in advance that I am a professional psychic medium. And it's really common for myself and other mediums to read for each other, not only for practice, but just to give each other readings, because we need readings, too. And one day I was receiving a reading from a fellow medium, and she starts describing a young male who she can see in spirit that is with her. She says, this young male is tall, he's wearing glasses, a white T shirt and a baseball cap, and he's covered in tattoos. And he's just staring at me. He's not saying anything. He's just staring at me, and he's smoking a cigarette. And I said, well, that's really bizarre that you're describing my brother, but my brother is actually here in the living. And she said, well, I'm looking at his spirit like he's coming to me as if he's on the other side. And for those who are listening, as a professional psychic medium, you know, when you are with a spirit person and when you're just receiving, like, a psychic impression, it feels very, very different. So I believed her when she said that. And I thought, you know, did my brother die? And I don't know it. But then I sat with it for a minute and I said, I have a question for you. My brother's an addict. Is there a possibility that he's overdosing or using right now and he's not in his body? She said, yeah, that actually would make a lot of sense to me because he's not talking to me. He's just looking at me and smoking. So it kind of freaked me out. And I obviously wanted to make sure that my brother was okay. So I immediately, when the session was over, called my family, shared what happened. We contacted my brother and, you know, basically said to him, you better knock it off, because you're playing with fire and you're coming through as a spirit person. And I think it really freaked him out. Might have been a good morning for him to be really careful with his usage and what he was doing. But I just wanted to share that because I have encountered something similar that Whitley's grandma experienced as a psychic medium. I will tell you that I definitely have experiences with connecting to people who are coming through like they're a spirit person, but they're still here in the living. This could actually look like someone who's in a coma, someone who has Alzheimer's or dementia. And is no longer in their right mind inside their body. They will come through and connect like a spirit person would. So I guess I can add addicts or overdoses to that. Hey Derek, it's Joseph from Montreal. This is probably the scariest thing that's ever happened to me. So to start Maybe close to 16, 17 years ago, I had gotten to all this new age tarot card reading and energy and crystals and meditating and trying to become psychic, which I have to say, it's freaky how it does work. But I stopped because I realized after the story that, like, you have no idea what you're messing with if you just jump into it. After the story, I literally took all my stuff and threw it out. So I was doing a guided visualization meditation. I was trying to develop my skills. I put on some like, spa music or whatever. And in my room, not necessarily in the dark, but like there was no lights on. My parents were in the living room. So it started out that I was in a beautiful meadow, beautiful sunny day, clear sky high, grass on both sides. And there's a path in front of me. And it was like a pretty worn down dirt path. So it's like snippets that are happening. Every time I get an image, I'm closer to this house at the bottom of the hill that I'm on. It's like a old cottage style, smoke coming out of the chimney. So I open the door to this cottage and it's just one room. White, white, white walls, like really dark hardwood floors, dark wood ceiling. But still somehow the room was really bright. And there's one window and like there were drapes that are flying from the wind gusting in. There's a bed in the middle and on the bed there's a girl in a white dress with black hair. And I'm not visualizing, like I'm not doing anything anymore. And she's facing the window and she's sitting kind of on her knees, hands in her lap. And then the next image I get is that she's, sorry to say, non sexually just sitting on top of me, like, but just sitting there and kind of looking. Her hair is in front of her face. And the best way I can describe her is like the girl from the brain. And the next image is that her hair parts and she's got these red demon eyes, like a demon face. And she screams and scratches my face at the same time in my room. It was like somebody took like a brick and threw it against the wall. Something slammed against the wall and it like, woke me up out of meditation. And I was like, whoa, that was crazy. Fast forward maybe 12 years, and I'm in bed with my wife, fast asleep, and I open my eyes. It's about three in the morning, and I'm kind of on my side, and I open my eyes and I just see a hand over my chest. But, like, kind of just under my chin. And I follow the hand and it's attached to the same girl. But this same girl is like, decrepit. Her bones are protruding. She's super skinny. Like, veins everywhere. Her dress that was white in the meditation, it was like she was buried in the dirt or rolling around the dirt. My eyes adjusted and it was like I was awake long enough to the point where I remember what her hand looked like. Bony. Her fingers were crooked. Her nails were like. Dirt was underneath the nails and cracked and chipped and. And yeah, I tried to move and I couldn't. Like most people say, she was emanating this blue light. And that got stronger the more my eyes adjusted and the more I woke up. Like, she was solid but emanating this blue light. And I was like, this can't be happening. This isn't real. And I closed my eyes and then I opened them again. And her hand was at her side, but she was still standing where she was standing the first time. I closed my eyes again, and then I opened them again. She was standing at the foot of the bed. And then I closed my eyes and opened them again. She was standing at the door. Did it one more time, and she was out of the room. And it was the only one she was out of the room that I, like, I gasped, like, freaking out. My wife obviously woke up and she said I was just pacing in front of the window going, what the. What the. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. She just said, baby, just come back to bed. And I literally, I just got back to bed and I've never been so petrified in my life. It was not only seeing that, but just like, I couldn't protect myself. Like I couldn't do anything. It was the scariest thing I've ever experienced. Funny enough, an ex girlfriend told me that she saw something similar hovering over me one night. And she kind of said she was going back to bed. And then she woke up again and it was hovering outside the window. And she just went back to bed again and I was gone. I don't know if that was something that's like, attached to me. Or it was attached to me. Or if my mind is just playing tricks on me. But have a good one. Really appreciate the show. Thank you.

Hi, Derek. This is Jay Holloway. I'm calling from Portland, Oregon. This short little story takes place in South Bend, Indiana, home of the Fighting Irish. So one night, my buddy and I were leaving his work. He had just got off work and we were pulling out and I had a horrible feeling. You know, I just had this weird feeling like something was going to happen. And I just said, hey, hang on a minute, don't go yet. But we stop and all of a sudden this minivan comes flying by, 50 miles an hour with no headlights off. And was able to stop him for the brief few seconds that it took for this van to cruise by us and miss us. But if I hadn't had that feeling, we probably would have been dead or seriously injured. So it's just a weird little thing I thought I'd share real quick. Show is amazing. Hi, Derek. My name's Nicole, calling in from Arizona. I just wanted to call in to see if anyone else ever experiences the same thing with siblings, maybe possibly being telepathic. But I noticed at a young Age, maybe. When I was in high school, me and my brother and sister, we were very close, and we had to be separated at one point. But I remember sleeping at a friend's house, and I just kind of dozed off and on the couch. And I remember just being dead asleep on his couch. And I heard a voice going, hey. Like, a mischievous, hey. Like, wake up. Like, hey, look what I got. And the voice I heard was my older brother's. And as soon as I heard it, I woke up and I said. And I looked at my friends, I was like, were you guys just talking to me? Like, what do you want? And they were like, nicole, we're outside. And I was like, are you sure? Like, okay. Were you on the phone with my brother? Like, I heard my brother's voice. They're like, no, dude. Like, we didn't hear your brother's voice. Not even two seconds later, I had a phone call from my brother. And I can put this on my life. I said, hello. The same voice that I heard, hey, Instantly, I had a gut feeling, and I instantly was like, what are you doing? What are you up to? Why am I hearing your voice? Knowing my brother, like, you know, we confide in each other. And I instantly heard his voice again. And I was like, what's going on? And I just remember he was trying to tell me, oh, you know, I have an opportunity to get this car for free, and blah, blah, blah. And they said, I can have it. The way he was explaining it was not making sense. I can tell in my brother's voice when he's lying to me or not. And I was like, whatever you're doing, I'm going to tell you this now. Stop. There's something bad going on. Please, I'm begging you. And come to find out, later on, he confessed. Yeah, it was a stolen car. I was going to drive around in it. And I was like, no wonder. It's not the first time that I've had these kind of scenarios go on with my siblings. It's pretty crazy. It happens, actually, a lot. We kind of know when each one of us is. Something's going on. We have a feeling or we hear each other's voices, and the next thing you know, we call each other and we just know, you know, something's going on. And just wondering if anyone else out there had the same experiences with their siblings on a daily basis. I love the show. Thank you. Bye.

Now our next entry takes us over to Europe. Please welcome Joe out of England. Hi Derek, my name's Joe. I'm recording this in Lincoln in the UK. This happened around 2009 2010. It's hard to remember. I was living with my parents at the time. They live in a new build so there's no previous history to the house as it's a brand new house. I was going through a particularly difficult time. I do have mental health problems but this was before I was aware of these problems. Just feeling very low energy, tired all the time, heavy generally not happy. I was lying in my bed one night trying to get to sleep but I just feeling really restless. I just could not sleep and I Was quite aware of how late it was getting, which was stressing me out even more. So I thought I'd lie on my back and just try to relax. Closed my eyes, and when I did so, it felt like someone had placed their hands softly around my ankles, as if someone was standing at the end of my bed facing me and then placing their hands around my ankles. Although there was nothing there, I couldn't see anything. This isn't the first time that I'd felt this, so I kind of just shook it off. I was like, that's weird, but whatever, I'll just try and go back to sleep. So I closed my eyes. And as soon as I closed my eyes, it felt like my soul was being torn out of my body. It's a really hard thing to describe, but it felt like someone had just reached their hand into my chest and was trying to pull out my soul from my body. It was awful. I was arching my back, I couldn't breathe, I was gasping for air. This only happened for a few seconds, or at least that's how I remember it, but I think it may have happened for longer. It's kind of hard to remember now, but it was such a bizarre, awful feeling. It felt like I was dying. Or I can imagine what dying feels like. Anyway, it passed after a few seconds, maybe. I opened my eyes and I was gasping for breath. And I turned the light on as soon as I couldn't. Nothing in the room. Couldn't see anything, couldn't feel anything. And, yeah, for the rest of the night, I just couldn't sleep. Just left the light on all night. And as soon as morning came, I told my mum about it. And we're lucky to have a close family friend who is a professional psychic medium who we trust very much. We phoned her, I spoke to her and she confirmed that there was something attached to me, which, hearing that was quite alarming, but also it validated my experience. It's quite a conflicting feeling. She advised us to put some rose quartz next to my bed and various other crystals that my mum had around my beds to kind of like create a protective barrier. Then she would contact someone who she knows that would be able to do a remote cleansing. So we did everything that she advised us to do and a few weeks went by. Couldn't sleep, really struggled to sleep. I was just too scared. Yeah. Nothing ever happened ever again after that. My mum and dad still live in that house. I did used to stay in that room whenever I'd go visit, but always feel on edge. So I don't sleep in that room anymore because I just couldn't relax. I couldn't sleep properly. Although nothing else that weird has happened in that house really. There was one other instance that came before this experience that I think may be connected again. This was back in the same room one night. I was just asleep as normal, and I woke up to a black claw reaching from the window on the other side of my bedroom across the room to my face. And it was right in front of my face. Now, this claw looked like it was long enough for me to be able to like, make out the details of this thing. It looked like it was kind of like oily, kind of similar to how Venom looks in the live action films or how the black goo looks in Prometheus. It was kind of like that. And it had like three fingers, two fingers and the thumb, I think, or maybe three fingers and one thumb, like just to kind of clawing out at me from across the room. Really long, thin, gnarly, just reaching out for my face. I just remember waking up. I can remember my dreams well after sleeping, and I cannot remember that I was dreaming of anything similar to that before I woke up. I just woke up to this claw coming right at my face. And then it just disappeared. Yeah. So that's it. I've not had anything like that happen to me since, thankfully. And I hope it never happens again because it was absolutely terrifying. You know, speaking of consulting a psychic, a bit ago I'd mentioned that 30% of U.S. adults say they consult astrology or horoscope, tarot cards or fortune tellers at least once a year. But let's break those numbers down a bit further, shall we? 14% say that they engage monthly in at least one of those practices. Six percent of Americans report that they participate in one or more of these activities at least weekly. And 20% of U.S. adults say they engage in at least one of these activities just for fun. 10% say they do them mostly because they believe the practices give them helpful insight. And 27% of adults say they believe in astrology and that it can affect people's lives. Now, women are about twice as likely as men to believe in astrology, 35% versus 18. And women, 18 to 49, are especially likely to express belief, a whopping 43%. And finally, Americans under 65 are more likely to believe than adults over 65. Now, granted, some of these folks seek these experiences out, but many others stumble upon them accidentally. Our next caller is a perfect example of that scenario. I've been a massage and bodywork therapist for 23 years, and I could probably give you a little story for every day I've worked. There's so much going on out there, from what emotions the clients arrive with to how they hold tension in their bodies. But some of it is much more esoteric, and I'm not the only one here. I would venture to say that most massage therapists have similar experiences. People that have been licensed for a while are going to be sensitive people, and they have their own abilities, such as clairaudience, clairvoyance, clairsentience, et cetera. The development of these abilities just comes with the territory of the work. I had a moment in which I knew I wanted to be a massage therapist. And I had never had a massage before. At this point, I was massaging a friend, a neighbor, at her kitchen table.

caretaking for her husband, and she never could find the time to take care of herself. So I was giving her a shoulder massage at her kitchen table. And I didn't know anything about massage, but we just sort of fell into a comfortable zone together. I could feel her relaxing at the same time that I felt comfortably relaxed. And I could feel her being comfortably relaxed. I had an image that came to my mind. It was of a red bird on a wooden fence in a snowy field. There was a cozy looking cabin off to the side with smoke coming from the chimney. And I just held this image as I massaged her because it just felt comforting. After I finished, we sat quietly for a few moments, and then she looked at me and said, that was really relaxing and I really needed it. Thank you so much. Then she said, I had this lovely image in my mind while you were massaging me. I saw a red bird on a wooden fence in a snowy field with a little log cabin with smoke rising from the chimney off to the side. And this is true. I mean, I was completely floored. I never thought anything like that was possible, much less that it could happen to me. And that's when I felt like it was a sign. And I knew that I wanted to become a massage therapist. And you might recall Jay from earlier in the program who too mentioned a small dwelling in the woods with smoke emanating from the chimney. I can't say that I know what to make of this strange coincidence, but there's no doubt that the connection exists both between Guinevere and her client and Guinevere and Joseph. Hey, Derek. This is Doug calling from Massachusetts. I just listened to Monsters among us beyond number 48, Mac's story about his 911 premonition. So this reminded me I had a similar event happen to me back in the summer of 2001. I was in a band at the time. I had some kind of falling out with my best friend who was like a singer in the band over some girl. And, like, you know, I was kind of a young guy, and it, like, basically consumed my life during that time. So through the end of August, up through early September, like, that's basically all I was thinking about. And, like, nothing else really would, like, penetrate my mind. And then I remember the night of September 10, 2001. I was, you know, going to sleep and, you know, anguished over this betrayal that I felt, you know, all this teenage drama. But right as I was about to drift off to bed, I just had this thought kind of, like, enter my mind out of nowhere. And it felt like an alien thought did not seem like something that I, you know, came up with. And it was just this thought of, like, ooh, I hope something really crazy happens on the world stage soon. It wasn't like those words, but that's basically what I thought. And I didn't really care about politics at the time. You know, if you were around and cognizant in the late 90s, early 2000s, politically, domestically speaking, it was a pretty boring time. Like, it just was not something that I was thinking about. And all of a sudden, this strange thought just popped into my mind. You know, promptly fell asleep right after that. You know, the next morning, woke up having, like, a mental breakdown over this, you know, teenage drama thing again. And I go into my chemistry lab again, college. And then 911 happened. And that's how I found out about it. But, yeah, I just always remember that that was just such a strange thing that that thought just kind of popped into my head out of nowhere, apropos of nothing. And then I just passed out and that was it. So I'm definitely curious to see if anyone else has any similar stories out there, thanks a lot.

Hey, Derek, it's Mac from the land of Lincoln. It's 9:10, 2019, the eve before the anniversary of 9 11. And I want to tell you about what happened the night of 9 10, 2001. So I had a group of friends that we used to get together for a while there, you know, almost every night. And we play card games as mundane as Uno or something like that. I'm not a good card player anyway. But we were playing another game that was pretty fun among us, where the objective was to get a hand, a suit, a color in order, and you move up to the next hand and be. You get two cards, three cards, things like that. Well, that night it was just three of us, two girls and myself. And as we were playing, I kind of got into a. I won't say a bad mood, but I could tell that something wasn't feeling right. Sometimes I get like that. But this was particularly different. And as we played the hands, it came out that one of us got a six, six, six. And we began to joke about it, like, oh, it's the bad hand. It's the bad. You know, it's the evil card, whatever. And from that hand to the round to the next rounds that we had, we all got six, six, six in order. And they kind of weirded us out at the end. By the end of the game, my last hand of that night was seven, seven, seven. So I knew everything was going to be okay. People don't know the significance of that. It's the Trinity. 777, the perfect number. 666 being the sign of the devil, of course. But I did notice as we were playing that game that our moods did change, as I said, and it seemed like a shadow was in the room. I didn't see a shadow, but it just felt like. It just seemed like the lighting got darker. Okay, so we move on from there. I've got a buddy. I had to call him and get permission to use his name well, to tell the story. It's not his name. I'll just call him Al. And I went to Al's place that night right after the game, and I told him exactly what happened. Now, my friend Al, he is very into the other world. He can see things, he feels things, he knows things and his attention. When I got there, it was almost midnight. By then, was very distracted and I could tell he wasn't in the best of moods and asked him, hey, what's going on? He says, he says, I don't think I'm gonna get any sleep tonight, so what's going on? He said, there's just things are moving, moving all over the place and it's just, it's really bothering me. Said, okay. And I explained the, the card game that I had. And just as I left, I said, hey, well, maybe we need to watch the news in the next couple of days, you know, see if something's happening. And that was the last thing I said that night to him. I went home, I went to bed late and I didn't know anything about what happened until I got to work the next day because I didn't have to be in until 11 o'. Clock. By then everything had happened. And I had to think about that card game and how strange that it was almost like a, I don't know, supernatural warning, I guess. But I didn't heed it because I didn't know kind of thing. So my buddy Al, for a time, like I said, he is very connected with things. And for a time he was doing tarot cards and he would read our hands for us. And during that summer we gone to his house, myself and another couple, they weren't married at this point, but they were basically asking him, you know, what's gonna happen with them in the future? So he read theirs individually, read mine, and then he read his own. And without exception, he said that in each hand for all four of us, we all had a virtually identical reading. The tower, the burning tower. You know, the tower doesn't mean bad things necessarily all the time, but it does mean change. And from what he read, we were

And we had no idea how it was going to change, but I think that was telling us that something big was going to happen soon. And of course it did. And we all were definitely changed. Well, since then, my buddy Al, he's, he's been keeping me up to date on how things feel. And I just talked to him today and he said that things have picked up in the last few months. A lot. So maybe, maybe not. I don't know what's going to happen. We'll just have to wait and see. That's my story for the moment. That's what happened. Hey, Derek. My name is Austin. I'm from Williskin, North Dakota, originally from Bismarck, North Dakota. So I'm calling in the guard of the gentleman that said that he was seeing through his eyelids. I have personally experienced that. And it was a little bit over a year ago. I'd be laying on the couch, trying to take a nap, and then I'd slowly start to kind of drift away. But it was like I was still seeing through my eyelids. And like, the people were saying they could kind of see the outline of the room. For me, it was almost like I could see basically the entire inside of my house, like where everything was. Now that I think about it, I think it could be attributed to possible astral projection. And there was another incident that happened, it's actually paranormal, where I went to a cemetery. This was around Easter, and for some reason I just wanted to walk around the cemetery with Diesel. That was a teenager. I was very angsty and I ended up coming back. And my cat had just gotten back from the vet. He had just gotten neutered. So I was in my room and then all of a sudden my cat, like, he's chill and then he looks up from my bedroom and starts staring directly into our living room. And I'm like, you know, trying to get his attention. I'm like looking out there like, what the hell are you looking at? Could not get his attention for a full on five minutes. And then he like jumped off of my bed and like scurried underneath my bed. It was the strangest thing ever. And I've heard, you know, stories of when animals see spirits that they will not take their eyes off whatever they are seeing. But I was heavily involved in the pan rumble for a very long time. I've only ever seen like one full on apparition. This was when I was real young. I was playing with some friends. There was like this foresty area and it was daylight out. And we get to this area and we're playing around, you know, just being kids. And then all of a sudden there's like this white mist in one spot. And I remember looking at it and looking back at my friends, like, do you guys see this? And I'm like, what is this? Every time I get closer to it, it's like this fear would just build up inside of me. I don't know if it was, you know, a good spirit, a bad spirit, But I do love your podcast, Derek. Take care.

Hi Derek, My name is Dina and I am from rural Oklahoma. I'm just finishing up a long weekend and was listening to season 10. I think it was episode five. The lady was talking about having seen her daughter years before she was born. I think the daughter's name was Lauren. It reminded me of a story that I have Years ago, I was probably a young teenager. I had a dream that was very vivid. I remember in this dream I am sitting in a restaurant eating pizza with my friends. The crazy part is that I did not recognize any of my supposed friends. I had no idea who these people were. The next morning I woke up and I gave my mom a very detailed description of my dream. What people were wearing, the pizza we were eating. I described the inside of the restaurant and even a few of my friends name. Fast forward a few years and we moved to a little town here in Oklahoma. One Friday night after a football game, some friends and I went to the next little town over to sit and eat some pizza and just kind of hang out. I realized halfway through eating pizza that this was the exact dream that I had had years before. That people were wearing the same clothes. It was the same restaurant, the same pizza, and the same names from my dream. I had never even thought about my dream after it had happened years before that. So it was really a wild experience. I went home that night and asked my mom if she had remembered me telling her about it. And she did. Once I mentioned it, I told her that I had actually lived that experience that night. I cannot explain it. I don't understand it and I honestly hadn't even thought about it for many years until I heard the story about the girl named Lauren and her mom dreaming about her or seeing her while awake at night. Thank you, Dina. Now, you might be wondering how many people have claimed to have had their own psychic experience. Well, luckily you.gov has put a poll together to give us that information. And the following info was based off of that poll. Of 1,000 U.S. adults, 34% of respondents believed that that they've had some sort of psychic episode, such as correctly predicting the future. Psychic occurrences are more common among women, 40% than men. At 29, 24% believe there are actually individuals who possess the ability to see the future. And 28% of women think this power exists, while only 19% of men believe the same. And 7% of people out there think palm reading is effective. And Nearly half of U.S. adults, 47%, are of the opinion that most people who advertise as psychics or mediums are simply fake. But I will say, real or fake, some of these practitioners have some peculiar methods. Just ask Robin from up in Canada.

Hey, Derek. Longtime listener names Robin from Vancouver island up north. And I was just listening to episode three of season 15, and it was about the lady talking about the medium she was using and reminded me of a recent story I just had involving a medium. I'm a gay man, I have husbands, and we have zero intentions of starting a family. However, one day, friends approached me and asked me if I would mind helping them out to start a family. And I said, certainly. And I didn't tell anyone in the family this because it's no one's business, really, but their own. And so we went through with it. And nine months later, a girl was born, the only female born in our family in at least 40 years. And it was kind of a joyous occasion and happy. And shortly after her birth, my mom called me and she's excited. And I was like, what's up? And she's like, well, I just spoke with our Tea Leave reader because our family has a TV reader that they've used for at least 15, 20 years now. And she said, oh, the TV reader told me I have a granddaughter. And I was floored. I didn't tell my family. As far as I know, my brother didn't have any new kids. And I'm like, oh. And she was just like, yeah, I think maybe one of your brothers might have fathered a child. And I was like, wow. And I so often told my mom that, yes, she does have a granddaughter. And the thing about that episode three and the medium is that much like that other caller's medium, the medium my mom speaks with her name is Shelly. So I am thinking, is this a coincidence? Maybe it's from the same small town. Otherwise, what were the chances?

Hey Derek, my name is Tori. I'm calling from Lake Bluff, Illinois, but my story kind of takes place in the Bahamas. I guess this happened back when I was a junior senior in high school. So like 2002, I think. We were all down in the Bahamas, us and a bunch of other families for spring break. And one night there I had this dream about one of my classmates from school who wasn't with us. But it was just a dream about him. And he was very, very happy in this dream. And I felt like how happy he was. And he was a soccer player in this dream. He was kicking a soccer ball against the wall, just like his kid, having fun and stuff, practicing. So the next day I was walking on the beach with my mom and I said, it's so weird. I had this random dream about this kid who I had grown up with, but we weren't really friends and I had never had dreams about him. And I told her what had happened in the dream and I was like, it was so nice because he seemed really happy in the dream. I just got a lot of joy from this dream. And she stopped and she looked at me and she said, you know us parents, we found out about something and we didn't know how to tell all you kids yet, but my classmate had committed suicide and they had found out about it maybe a day or two prior to me having this dream. So that was the extent of the paranormal experience or whatnot. But I just thought it was interesting. Nothing like that has ever happened before then or since then. But I mean, it was nice. It made me feel like he was okay. And ever since then, I had never run into his family like they live in the community still. But I had always wanted to let his family know that I had had this dream. Hi, Derek, this is Joanne. I'm calling from West Virginia, but this is about a car accident I was in that took place in Wrentham, Massachusetts. It was the year 2000. I was 18, and I was driving down Route 1A past the Wrentham outlet mall. And at this time there were no lights there. There are now, but I was going straight across. So passing by the mall up on my left and a gas station on my right, and I had the right of way going straight through. There's no lights. And as I'm passing this intersection area, I saw a giant white Ford Bronco at a full stop, blinker on to turn left across my lane, and it was at a full stop. But I looked at this car and I thought, that person's gonna go in front of me. I had no reason to think that, but I did. And they started to turn. And as they did, my perception of time slowed down incredibly slow. Like I was maybe 30ft from his vehicle. I was probably going 50 miles an hour. And I slowed down in my mind. And I had enough time to think, if I keep going straight, this is a head on collision, so I'm going to turn. I had enough time to Remember when I was in driver's ed a couple years before, they said that if you're going to be in an accident, to relax your body as best you can to reduce the damage. And so I closed my eyes, I calmed down, I turned my wheel away from this person so that they'd hit a further point of the front of my car, like my passenger side instead of my driver's side. And we hit really, really hard. I kept my eyes closed for a second, open them. The front of his car was in the front of my car, over the hood of my car. I could see him sitting up in his car, just staring ahead and over my car to the point where I was getting upset. Like other people were starting to run to my car to help me and run to him, but he wasn't getting out. And so finally somebody helped me out. Somebody helped him out. And he came over to me and somebody was screaming like, it's your father. It's your fault. He said, no, I know it's my fault. I know it's my fault. And he looked me in the eye and he said, I'm sorry it took me so long to get over here. I thought I killed you. I was absolutely convinced I killed you. And, you know, the police came, ambulance came, I was fine. I had no injuries at all, even though I hit really hard. The car I had was pre airbag. So I was just so incredibly lucky that I walked away from that accident. And a couple days later, my car had been totaled. I was told it was going to get towed from the lot where it was. And so I needed to go and get anything out of my car that I wanted to keep. So I borrowed a car, headed over there, and the tow truck driver was actually starting to move the car, and I stopped him and I said, sorry, sorry, this is my car and there's Simmigon, and I'd like to get out. He looked at me and he said, well, who was driving your car? I said, I was driving my car. He's like, there's no way. This is a terrible wreck. There's no way this was you. He said, no, it was. He said, no. We actually had to pull the cars apart with our tow truck. Like they were embedded. Our engines were intertwined. It was horrible. But no, I was fine. And I've never had that cliche experience of time slowing down, but it really did. And because it did, I walked away. Thanks, Derek.
