Good evening and welcome to Monsters Among Us. I am your guide Derek A. Hello gang and welcome back to another chilling episode. Now this is our final week off, which means brand new content beginning next Tuesday. But tonight I have something fresh for many of you. Another beyond unlock. And this time we're exploring the beyond portion of season 20 episode 4 and season 20 episode 20, that second half coming up in a little bit. But for now, enjoy the show. Trust me when I say you don't want to miss stories like Sarah's out of the State Florida.
Sarah / Celeste / Tara (callers)
Hi Derek, this is Sarah from Florida and I've had a number of horses over the years and they all died old age or cancer or whatever. I went to visit this spiritualist church and as I was walking out this lady approached me and said, do you want to hear a message? And I said sure. And she said, well, you've got a horse with you. Now. She had never met me before, knew nothing about me, and I was dressed up so I didn't look anything like someone would even have a horse. And she went on to describe my horse Conan to a T. He was kind of a spectacular looking Arabian with flashy markings. He was a dark chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail. He had a big white blaze down his face and she described him perfectly. And then she went on to say about how he appreciated when I'd visit him out the barn he was kept at when he was sick and his death wasn't painful. And she described that I had him put to sleep but he was having some serious cancer issues. Then he said, I don't know colors too well, but I described him as a dark colored pale amino which would fit with a flaxen mane and tail. And then she went on to say, he just let me know that he walks across the street with you when you go feed the neighbor's horse. So that's so evidential. And then I ran into her, though a couple months later I lost another horse, Kallik. She was pretty old too. She's a thoroughbred, this horse. Everyone loved her. People would just walk up and hug her. She's the most lovable horse. And she said, well, you've got another horse with you now. And she said, she's just so sweet. And she went on to describe her. And now I had another horse, Bo, who was a racehorse off the track. And he had died a number of years ago of sounder, which is a very painful illness. And in his case it wasn't curable. And I finally had him put to sleep. I was driving home and my neighbor was standing in the road. She stopped me and now I had never had much of a conversation with her. She was real shy and she stayed in the house, but she's staying in the road. And she said, when did you get the new colt? And I'm like, what? I didn't have a colt anymore. And plus he was a racehorse off the track. His name was getting bigger and he had really long legs and he was a real tall horse and he had a little star on his forehead. He said, yeah, I saw your colt in the front yard. He was jumping and prancing and bucking and kicking. He said he had the longest legs I've ever seen. And so I said, well, do you believe in spirits? He goes, oh, I wondered about that because he said, my husband, I pointed him out to him and he just looked annoyed and walked in the house and he said, I used to see my mother too. So anyway, Bo sometimes would appear in our front yard and jump around. And he was young then and a cold. And that's my story for this time. And thanks again. Bye.

Thank you, Sarah, for that touching phone call. Now, as someone that's lost a lot of pets over the last few years, cats for me mostly, I find hope in stories like these. Hope that my furry friends are waiting for me on the other side. These days, I'll take any good news I can get. So thank you again, Sarah, for sharing that optimistic entry.

And welcome back squad. It's real nice to meet you. Have you with us here tonight. I have some interesting calls lined up for you, a little bit of everything to share. So let's keep the party going by pushing play on yet another one. This time from the state of New Jersey, please welcome Celeste to the program.
Sarah / Celeste / Tara (callers)
Hi Derek, It's Celeste from New Jersey. So my mom has been known to have many experiences, but this story is actually about dreams. So this particular dream, it was probably about 10 years ago, my great grandmother, who was my mom's grandmother, had passed away and they were very, very close. A few years after she had passed, my mom had some dreams about her. But this particular dream, my great grandmother had a lot to say. She was looking at my mom and she had a look out of concern on her face and she was saying white hot, white hot over and over again. And my mom's like, grandma, I missed you. How have you been? Like, my mom doesn't really know that this is a dream. When you're in a dream, you don't really necessarily know you're in a dream. You think it's real. So she was just so amazed to see her and just wanted to hug her and, you know, be with her. And she just kept looking at her saying, white hot, white hot. And my mom's like, I don't understand what that means. I don't know what to say. And the dream eventually ended. So the next day she gets on the phone with my grandmother and tells her about the dream. And you know, my grandmother's like thinking to herself, I wonder what that means? So she shares it with her husband, my grandfather. He doesn't know what it means. As the day goes on, my grandmother, she had like a full kitchen in the basement. So a kitchen, upstairs, kitchen in the basement. And in the basement there was a stove, there was an oven, and there was a sink and a full kitchen table. Jars and jars and jars of pasta, gravy, sauce. So she had gone down there to do some laundry and she had glanced over and noticed that she left the oven on and it was a big white oven, and it was super hot, and she had left it on from the night before. So I just got chill saying that over again. I can't explain it. She can't explain it. She truly believes that, you know, people who have passed on, loved ones who have passed on come to her and try to give her messages. And she's just very open and sensitive to these kinds of things. And I just think it's wonderful. So wanted to share that. Thank you so much.
Derek Hayes
Thanks, Celeste, for the phone call. Well, that sounded like some sort of warning to me, and it sounds like it came in the nick of time as well. Who knows how long that stove could have burned before some sort of malfunction occurred. This sent the whole home ablaze. And, you know, weirdly enough, this isn't the last time we'll be discussing a kitchen stove here this evening. I have another story coming up that, too, involves that everyday appliance. But first, a story from Anonymous in the state of Washington.
Anonymous Caller / Narrator
Hey, Derek, I'm calling in anonymously from Washington State Central Washington. And in 2010, I'd actually been admitted to the U.S. army. Did basic training in July in Fort Benning, Georgia. Went straight over to OCS after that. And while I was at OCS, which for anyone who doesn't know is Officer Candidate School, I busted my hip about a week out from commissioning as a second lieutenant. So kind of got stuck in. Out processing for quite a while there, as anyone who's been in the military and had to go through an experience like that can maybe relate to. And I was really glad to get the hell out of there when it was all said and done. So February of 2011, I was finally discharged, and a buddy's wife came and picked me up from HHC there at ocs. This is back when the barracks were across from the kind of airborne towers. Anybody who's been to Fort Benning before, you would know that area. So it was the old campus. So I get picked up, get taken to Columbus Airport, which is the nearest airport, and that is where I caught my flight from. And it's on that flight that what I'm about to describe occurred. For the specifics on this flight, I actually have the itinerary that the army printed for me right here in my hand. It was American Airlines Flight 2983 from Columbus, Georgia to Dallas, Fort Worth, Texas, and it was February 15th of 2011. So if anybody was on that flight or had a similar experience, it'd be interesting. Like I said, I was excited to get out of HHC I was still on crutches because of my hip injury. So the flight attendants were super kind to me and let me take a window seat and a strip of seats all by myself so that I could look out the window while I was flying. And I'd just gotten an iPhone, it was, I guess an iPhone 4. I was pretty stoked on the camera capabilities of that phone at the time. So as we got up and we were maybe a third, third to halfway through the flight, I was taking quite a few pictures out the window of the cloud formations that were below us. It was just kind of a beautiful forested area. Not sure what state we were over at the time, but just kind of neat to be free and taking these cool pictures from an airliner. So that's when the strange thing happened to me. I'm sitting there, I'm actively taking photos of clouds about, you know, 45 degrees out the window. And I see what I think is a plane approaching at about a 45 degree angle down from my window seat, I should say too. I'm sitting on the left hand side of the plane, just forward of the left wing. And this object was shaped like a plane at first I thought, and as it got a little bit closer to us, I could see that it was in fact cylindrical, similar to the fuselage of an aircraft. But it didn't have any wings or, you know, any extensions beyond the fuselage or central cylinder shape. So I'm sitting and watching this object. I probably saw it for anywhere between 7 to 10 full seconds. So I had a really good look at this thing. It was again, I was looking down about 45 degrees from my window seat and it was approaching from our front and moving toward our rear along the left side of the craft. I can't really judge size of this thing. It was at least as big as the jetliner that I was flying in. If I had to guess, I'd say it could have been up to maybe three times as big, depending on how far away it was. But the shape of it was not in question because it was really well silhouetted between my vantage point and the clouds that I'd been taking pictures of below. Color wise, I have a really hard time with this to this day. It was kind of, it was a non color is the best way I would describe it, almost as though it were void of color. And that is a really hard thing to try to describe. But there was an iridescent sort of quality to it, almost like this is what I always think of when I think of this story. When I was a kid, there was a certain kind of beetle that my brother and I liked that we thought was so neat when we were kids. And we called it a root beer beetle because the iridescent quality to its back was like a kind of a root beer brown, but when you viewed it in the light, it would shift in rainbow hues. Now, this thing, this craft, didn't quite have that rainbow shifting, but the impression that it left with me in its sort of lack of color was almost an iridescence, an absorptive kind of iridescence. That's the best way that I can describe it. It didn't have any portals or windows or apparent openings at all. It was simply one solid piece. And I saw it from the time it caught my eye to the front until it passed underneath the left wing and moved out of view. So the truly strange thing about this experience, though, to me is the context and my recollection of the experience itself. I had a brand new iPhone 4 in my hand. Here's the most amazing thing I've ever seen in my life, and not for one second did I think to take a picture of it. I'm aware that other people have similar experiences, you know, where it would seem like the obvious thing to do would be to photograph these events and it just. It doesn't happen. But beyond that, I had the distinct impression, and this is where we get into wacko land. I would be remiss if I didn't mention the sensation and the memories that I was left with due to this experience. I had the distinct impression, first of all, that this object, whatever it was, was sensing me, that it knew that I was watching it, so that the object itself seemed sentient, I guess, like it had a mind of its own, like it wasn't a craft. Maybe. Maybe it was actually alive. Again, just a sensation that I was left with in my memory of this. And the second takeaway from this is that I was not supposed to remember that. In fact, the weirdest part of this experience is that I don't remember the rest of that flight. My next memories are from the airport where I made my connecting flight in Dallas Fort Worth Airport. That's all I remember. I don't know what I believe, but there's a possibility that there was some interaction on a mental level with this craft or creature, whatever it was. And that is why I cannot remember the period of an hour and a half or so following that experience, and that possibly I wasn't supposed to remember the experience itself either. I know that I wasn't dreaming. And I do have a series of photos that I can send you, if you would like. That are the photos of the clouds that I was taking up until this experience. The weirdest part of those is that the last photo in that string of photos is simply a photo from my iPhone which appears to be taken directly up from my seat into the, you know, the little air nozzles that can blow cool air down to you on an airliner just looking straight up at the ceiling. And that could very well be just my thumb bumping the camera or something like that, but considering the context of everything else, it kind of creeps me out just a little bit. Anyway, that is the extent of my story. Thanks for your show and everything that you do and I wish you all the best. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, caller. Now, we shared a story almost identical to this one. Near the beginning of the main portion of the show, a UFO viewed from a commercial aircraft. As if a needed another reason not to fly. Now, it's too bad that her caller here didn't snap a photo because I really would have liked to have seen this thing myself. And as for the photos, he did mention sending in. He did send them, but they will not open. More government interference perhaps, or maybe just an expired link. Either way, we've already reached out to our caller and once he sends those images in again, I'll be sure to update them in the show notes. But until then, the next time you find yourself in a window seat 30,000ft in the air, keep your eyes open for anomalies. Be sure to have that phone ready when you see them. Thank you again caller for sharing the story.

Tara
Hi, Derek, this is Tara. About six months ago, my best friend, who was formerly a boyfriend, so we had some very close emotional ties, passed away very suddenly of a stroke. You know, needless to say, it's been incredibly hard since he passed. And just about a week before he passed away, my buddy out in Colorado lost his mother. It wasn't sudden, but it was also a stroke. And so after kind of, you know, going through all the processes of grief and dealing with everything that comes along with losing someone, I decided it was a really good time to go visit my buddy in Colorado and catch up and share, you know, our feelings about the losses. It just seemed like the right time to go. So I went for about a week. And one night we're standing in his bathroom and he's folding some laundry. It's a huge bathroom. And he was standing there in front of the laundry machines and folding some towels or something. I was standing over kind of closer to the shower, and we were just telling stories about our lost loved ones and kind of going through different things that we've been feeling and kind of really getting into it and comparing kind of, you know, the trauma stories and things like that. We both walked out of the bathroom and I went into the bedroom to kind of put some of his folded clothes on his bed for him. He walked out into the hallway and maybe a minute later we both heard this crash, followed by another, bigger crash, followed by another bigger, bigger crash and glass breaking. And we both looked at each other like, what the heck was that? It's a really quiet neighborhood. There's someone on the other side of that bathroom, but the walls are pretty thick. And we definitely knew that it came from his bathroom. So we walked in and a picture frame with like a painting inside it, just kind of a small maybe 8 by 11 frame had somehow been thrown off the shelf that it's been on stably for over a year since he's lived there. He hadn't tampered with it. I hadn't tampered with was leaning against the wall. So it wasn't nailed into the wall. And so we kind of postulated that maybe it just shimmied off the shelf and it took a really long time for it to shimmy down. You know, I suggested, well, maybe the next door neighbor hit the wall or, you know, made some kind of vibration on his side, so it knocked it off. But the thing is, if it slid out from the bottom, to my mind, it would have just landed on its back on the shelf. It would be really difficult, I think, for it to go flying forward and, you know, clear the toilet, which is, you know, sitting underneath the shelf, kind of out. It would was maybe 5, 6ft away from the wall where it fell. You know, it just didn't make any sense to us. He is not in any way, shape or form a believer or speculator about the paranormal. He's not interested in anything like that. And he was completely freaked out. So that was pretty odd. Another really weird thing that happened to me in my apartment two weeks after my best friend passed. And I was sitting on my bed and my cat was next to me. I have one cat and one dog. So my cat's on my left, my dog's on my right. I'm, you know, working on a project on my bed, on my laptop, and I hear this crash. And I go into the kitchen, and a vase of flowers that somebody had given me had fallen off of this little kitchenette table that I have in my kitchen. And the windows are closed. It's a completely calm day. We live on the top floor. It wasn't anywhere near the edge of the table. It was right in the center, and it had just fallen off the table. I'm not sure that I'm suggesting it was the spirit of my friend, but the timing was really interesting. The fact that there couldn't have been any other factor or variable in the situation that would have caused it to fall off the table for any reason. If the window was open, I could see possibly it blowing over. But even then, I really don't. Like I live in the Hudson Valley. It's not a windy place, really. Here, typically it's pretty still. So it would be hard to imagine a strong enough wind on a perfectly clear, calm day coming in through the window. But again, it was closed. Yeah, just having a tough time explaining both of those things and don't know, I'd like to think it was my friend saying hello, even though it was kind of a violent gesture. But I don't know, maybe I'm just being informed by the Patrick Swayze moves and ghosts or something like that. Maybe I've seen too many movies, but that's my story. I hope you have a great day. Take care.
Derek Hayes
Thank you Tara, for calling in Notara. I bet we're all thinking the same thing that you are. Were these experiences proof that either your friend or your friend's mother was able to make a visit? Or were these events simply somehow coincidental? I don't know. It sounds to me like someone was trying to get your attention, but maybe that's just wishful thinking. Either way, we're sorry for your loss. And thank you again, Tara, for taking the time to share the experience. Hello Monster Squad. Welcome back to another installment of the Beyond. I have several awesome stories slated for this evening and I'm pretty anxious to share them with you. So let's get started. Please join me in New Jersey where Rupert is waiting with a story.
TikTok / Spin Quest Advertiser
Hey Derek, this is Rupert from New Jersey again. I'm calling in with a couple of things, an update and a new thing that happened. In regards to my last call, you told me to investigate the land and see what kind of things happened here. Nothing happened here per se, but this is Native American land, the Lennal Lenape, and we live about two miles away from marshland which they are known to inhabit. And they also lived along the Metidicon river which is about six miles away from my house. So I imagine there might have been a few living on this land at the time. But before my house was built, this was all a wooded area in the 80s and the only house that was here was the one across the street. That's the oldest house on my street. So in regards to it being possible Native American activity in my house ghost wise, it's possible, but I think maybe it's not because I never told you this before, but I was born clinically dead. I had a twin sister and her umbilical cord basically choked me out. She was born first by eight minutes. I was clinically dead for five minutes after my birth, so I don't know how long I was actually dead, but I was purple. My mom said. And I talked to somebody and they said that maybe that has enhanced my connection with the beyond, being that I was deceased at birth. But I've had a few other things happen. I have a Google Nest hub camera in my living room and I would hear all kinds of banging. I know the microphone is sensitive, but this was like knocking. It was like knocking, banging on walls type of sounds. I tried to debunk it. My wife said it was the Flagpole outside on a windy day. But I tried that. It did not sound the same. It didn't happen very many times. It happened a couple times. And one time I heard this clanking noise and I was able to replicate that. It was, there's a wine glass rack hanging in a bureau in my living room. And on the wine glasses are little charms. And I plucked it with my finger and it sounded exactly like that noise that I heard on my Google Nest hub, like a little metal ring spinning around a glass stem. So that was weird, and I can't explain that, but that's what happened. You've had other weird things happen, things falling that I wasn't there to witness. But on to my recent experiences. My sister had just given my son an electric bass guitar that was owned by a friend of hers who passed away. And she's a lefty, so she can't play it. It's a righty bass. My son's been interested in bass, so she gave it to him to borrow. Actually, it was Christmas Eve when we got the base. Christmas day. We went to my in laws house for Christmas. And my wife and my kids and I came home. I unlocked the door. My kids were the first ones in the house. My son went toward his room. I followed him. I walked in the house. I heard guitar sounds like strumming guitar sounds like rhythm guitar. And I thought my son must have left his radio on or something. I don't know, something. An alarm clock went off, I don't know. And I walked toward his room because that's where the sound was coming from, from his room. His door was shut. My daughter's room's door was shut. But I got to her door. I heard the noise still coming from his room, but it started to reduce in volume. I did not open her door. I went right to his door. As soon as I turned the doorknob, it stopped. I opened the door. Nothing. So I asked my son, did you hear that? He said, yeah. And I asked my daughter and she said, yes, I heard it too. All three of us heard it. My wife was still coming in the house at the time. She was getting stuff out of the car. She did not hear it. So I immediately called my sister who gave him the bass. And I told her what happened. And she said, oh my goodness. He did not play bass. He had a bass. He played rhythm guitar in his band. And I got chills right away. And I was like, oh my God, is this guy haunting my house now? Fast forward. A week or two later, we have A routine in my house in the morning where I get up at 5:30, my cat harasses me to feed him. My wife gets up at 6 and comes out, he greets her. So I was feeding my cat at 5:50 in the morning, and he's usually right there by the bowl. This time he was not. He was in the living room meowing. I was in the pantry reaching in to get his dry food. And I looked. He's standing in the middle of the living room meowing. And then I looked and I see an arm come down to pet him. And he reached up to the hand with his head to get pets. At this point, I'm like, oh, it's my wife. She woke up early, she's petting him. She's gonna come in the kitchen. I turned around, continued to feed him, gave him his dry food, his wet food, changed his water, got up, nobody was there. The cat came to eat. I heard my bedroom door open. My wife went into the bathroom. I waited for her to come out and I said, did you just get up and pet the cat? She's like, no. And I looked at her and she's wearing a black hoodie, full sleeves. The arm that I saw was not sleeved. It was a naked arm. It looked like a man arm. Then I asked my son later on that day, I said, did you wake up early and come out and pet the cat and then go back in your room? He's like, no, I didn't. I didn't get up until 6:30 and I don't know what I saw. And I'm thinking maybe it was the same guy, my sister's friend who passed that was petting my cat. It was real, it was solid. I just saw from the hand to the shoulder because that's where it would cut off in the doorway. Based where the cat was. I don't know what the heck I saw. I guess if there's spirits that want to stay here, that's fine by me, as long as they're not evil. I'm the only one that sees things. But my son and daughter hear things, and I'm wondering if it's because they're young. And on the flip side, I have a theory being that I was born dead and was beyond the veil at one point in my life. Already I'm wondering if as I get older and get closer to that veil again, that I'm becoming more aware of things in my later life, not getting any younger. So if activity increases, I guess I'll be calling in more Often. Anyway, thanks again, Derek. I'll talk to you later.
Derek Hayes
Thank you for calling in, Rupert. You know, that's the problem with researching land or structures where activity is taking place. Sometimes the records just don't go far enough back. And that's something we run into often, especially when Native Americans are involved. And it's pretty wild that you were born dead, essentially. Not too many people can make that claim. And like your friend said, perhaps that somehow had a bearing on all this activity you're experiencing. And the phantom music. Where have we heard those details before? And lastly, a ghost petting your cat. That's pretty wild. And it gives me an idea. No, I have to feed our cats at about 4am they demand that I do so. But if I had a ghost in the house that had the ability to touch our cats, maybe you can feed them as well. I could sleep in for the first time in nearly a decade. Anyway, Rupert, I wish I had more answers for you, but sometimes that's how these stories go. Sometimes they're just unexplainable. But despite that, we can't thank you enough for taking the time to share.

Hi, Derek, this is Don from Michigan. I've heard you discuss how you've been able to. I believe. Don't quote me, but you were able to guess the gender of. I think it was your sister's child or someone in relation to you, a friend or something like that. You had like these psychic type tendencies. Well, I actually can relate to that a little bit because since I was a kid, my dreams and they have been psychically linked to explain. I'll give you a story. So I think I was about 20 years old. I really didn't know what I was going to do with my life. You know, I was kind of in a depressed state of mind. I was living in a little town called Roseville, Michigan. It's outside Detroit. About five, ten minutes at this point in time where the story picks up. I'm sleeping in a house I lived in with my brother. I'm in a dream. And I'm on the front porch of the house in the dream, and I'm smoking a cigarette. It's a summer night in the dream. Clear sky. You can see all the stars and everything. I see somebody peculiar walking from my left while I'm sitting on the front porch. And I mean, this isn't something you see every day. But he was a tall, thin man. He was about 6 foot 5. He had long white. I mean, whiter than like paint on a white car. His hair was very, very white, super platinum white almost. And he had sunglasses on. And then I looked at his left hand and he was banging a stick on the ground. Kind of like you see blind men doing movies and stuff. And his other hand, he's got a leash and he's got a very large old English sheepdog like the ones you'd see on TV with the big white heads and the gray coats and stuff like that. Like, this dog is pretty large. And I'm watching him walk from the left and go in front of the house. And he's passing, right, the sidewalk that leads up to my porch. And he stops and he looks at me and he kind of lowers his sunglasses and he's like, you young man. Things are going to change for you. And then I'm just kind of puzzled, like, what are you talking about? I'm like, who are you? He's like, I'm just a passerby, okay? And he goes, you're gonna sign something that changes the rest of your life, mind you. I'm like, 20. So I didn't even know what he was talking about. And I said, okay, sir. You have a good one. Mind you, this is still all a dream. So I wake up, continue with life. About a year and a half passes, I'm like, this is a little bit older and 21. And I signed a contract to the United States army, which I spent 10 years of my life doing. And that's not even the end of it, to be honest. That was just like a normal part of this story. I come home to visit from boot camp during Christmas and I'm on the front porch smoking a cigarette. This is real time. And it's another evening. Except this time there's snow on the ground and it's cold. I couldn't be more specific than saying that same guy with the sheepdog was crossing from the left again and going past on the sidewalk adjacent to the house. He turns around and he looks at me and he smiles and he says, things worked out for you, didn't they, son? So it just ends with the old man who I assume was at least posing as a blind person. I'm starting to think maybe he was much more than that. I can't explain who or what it was. I mean, I would know if I saw a guy that fit that description with a dog like that. That is so uncommon for where I live. I don't know. I just know that my first introduction to him was in my dream. And then a couple years later, I saw him in real life. Take it as you want, but I think that's kind of an interesting one. Keep it spooky. Bye.

We appreciate the call, Don. No, actually it was my friend Kate whom I used to work with years ago. And I didn't guess the gender. I just guessed that she was pregnant. Even though she hadn't told anyone yet. The info came to me in a dream the night before we were to meet her and her husband for dinner. We hear stories like Dawn's from time to time, predictions about events that take place later in life. But I can't recall a single story that involves the prophetic showing back up sometime later. That part really stuck out to me. Hell, to be honest, the entire story stuck out to me. And for that we thank you, Don Creepy in all the right ways. Alright, gang. We made it to the final call of the evening and I saved something wild for last. From the forests of Western Canada. Please welcome Chris to tonight's program.

Hey Derek, my name is Chris. I'm from Nelson, bc. I wanted to relate something that happened to me about two weeks ago. Nelson is a small town. It's in the Kootenays. So I walk my dogs up a forest service road, and it's about a 10 minute drive from where I live. It was just getting dark. It's a road where, you know, it starts out at the same elevation as Nelson, and then you drive up a gnarly forest service road and you gain some altitude. And then I park my vehicle, grab the dogs, and I walked further into the bush. And at some point, you know, you're out of cell service. It's really lovely. So there's a grind part where you gain a lot of altitude fairly quickly and then sort of get to a road that's more undulating and flat, if you will. So the dogs and I get up the hard part. And at this point, I haven't been away for a while. So I had a few of Monsters Among Us beyond episodes backed up. And this is generally what I listen to. So, you know a gnarly forest road where there's no cell service getting dark. Listening to your paranormal podcast as I'm walking, I get to a spot just where you're leaving cell service, and I hear a really weird sound. Now, please don't laugh, but it sounded kind of like something like that. I know that's not exactly the sound, but that's what I heard. And just as some background information, I'm retired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I was a firearms instructor as well as a police officer and did way too much scenario shooting without ear protection. So I now wear hearing aids. And hearing aids have gotten to the point where they have Bluetooth in them. They're incredibly advanced. And so when I'm listening to podcasts, I stream them right into my hearing aids. So I hear this weird sound and then I hear some. I can only describe it as chattering, like as though some things are communicating with each other. It was really weird. I didn't think anything of it at all at first. What I initially thought was, oh, Derek's overlaying some background sounds on the podcast. And I was like, but why would he put such a weird sound over what was a ghost story? Some lady was telling a ghost story. And so I walked probably about another 10 meters and I rewound, got to where I was in her story and listen again. There's no sounds at all. And I was like, okay, well, it must be my hearing aids acting up or something like that. So I keep on walking and I get to a point where this forest service road crosses a creek. And usually I jump in the creek for a cold plunge. And then Hang out in the cold water for a bit and then I turn around and head back. And this night I was like, I'm not going in. I don't know why, but I'm just not going in. And I turned myself and the dogs around and started heading back out. So I'm walking for a few minutes and as I get to the exact same place I was when I heard the sound in my hearing aids, I thought before I hear again, it wasn't that noise. It was more like an eh or an. It was different. And I was like, what the hell? And so I should describe this. So as the road goes, road of course is level, right side to side, but there's an upside and a downside. So the downside goes very, very steeply. At this point, probably 150 meters, 200 meters maybe down to a creek. And then the upside goes probably 100 meters up to a ridge. Like you can actually see the end of land and you can see the horizon, you can see the sky through the trees. It's heavily wooded on both sides. So I hear this weird noise on the high side the road, so it's uphill from me. And then right after I hear that sound, I hear the sound of very large rocks, which actually sound more like boulders smacking into each other. And then about a second later, I hear the very loud snapping of trees and a crack of as loud as a rifle shot as a boulder crashes into the boulders down by the creek, 150, 200 meters below me. Now, a boulder didn't roll down like there wasn't the bump, bump, bump, bump. A boulder was, for all intents and purposes, picked up, hit another boulder, and then launched through the air over the trees. And then as it came down, it obviously smoked some trees closer to the creek, breaking them, and then hit a boulder. Like it jarred me. I was startled by the sound. At that point, my dogs perked up and were beginning to rush down the slope towards the creek and I called them off. Now, at this point, I have to tell you, on the way in, my dogs didn't react to the sound that I heard on the way back. They didn't react to that eh sound. They only reacted to the boulder. I don't know how to explain that. You know, we all know that there's bears and cougars and everything in this area, but none of those things launch boulders. And so I told the dogs, I was like, hey, no, we're going call them. And thankfully they actually listened. They didn't rush down the slope and I looked up to the ridgeline. I didn't see anything, but I was like, okay, we're being told to get out of here. And it was weird because I didn't really feel fear. I just felt jacked. It was like, okay, this is happening. Let's deal with it. And so I started jogging, and I made sure that the dog stayed with me. And as I began to jog, I heard that sound a couple of more times, and I actually turned my face towards the ridge, and I said, we're going, we're leaving, we're gone. And just jogged out of there. And it's about three and a half, four kilometers that I had to jog out. And I had that really hanky feeling you get when you know something's watching you. For about the first 500 meters, the road is. In places, it's like a tunnel. It's completely overgrown with trees, right? So when it's nighttime, it's like, inky black in there in places. I don't carry a flashlight. I just like to do it, like, without light. I don't know why. I just. I enjoy that. But I did look up a number of times just to see if I could see anything silhouetted against the horizon, but I saw nothing. And I could tell you in those moments, I was like, I really don't want to see anything. And at the point where I was back in cell service and there were actually less trees, like, the whole mood switches, because there's a place where you go where the trees are a lot smaller, and it just opens up the sky more, and there's, you know, some ambient light, and everything just felt much better. It was just night and day, what the mood was. But I actually called my girlfriend, and I was like, hey, babe. Yeah, there's. There's something up here. And I told her about it as I'm jogging out, and then I arrived at my vehicle without incident. Since that time, as I'm trying to, like, go through all the scenarios, I'm like, nothing that I know of that's normal can launch a boulder like that, like a trebuchet or a catapult can, but no animal out there can. No human can. It's certainly not at the trajectory that it would be required to clear all of these, like, big trees to then, like, come down almost vertically and just catch the last few trees close to the creek and then smack with that amount of force into another boulder. There's just nothing that can do that unless it was launched by, you know, we call it Sasquatch. And I've actually had another weird encounter up there this spring. I was walking and I heard boulders clanking and I was like, that is so weird. I'm hearing the boulders clank together, but it's happening up from me. And you would expect like in the spring when the melt is on from the snow in the mountains, that it's possible, you know, a tree falls over into a creek and kind of wedges between a couple of boulders and the flow of the water is such that there's a great deal of force and it could like lever a tree or something, you know, between a couple boulders that you could hear that clanking. But no, I was hearing them up hill from me. And again, I just wrote it off to whatever, you know, like we do, we're people, right? We're just like, okay, that's weird. All right, so anyways, love the show. All right, man, thank you.

Thanks, Chris. Okay, everyone in my crew had the exact same thought about the sound that you heard there in the forest. Chris. We all agreed whatever this thing is, it might owe Tim the Toolman Taylor a few royalties. Now I know this isn't a laughing matter, but I can't help but picture Chris being hunted down by a mid-90s TV dad through a darkened BC forest. But in all seriousness, I think Chris was right to be concerned and I think he did the right thing by retreating out of the forest. Because that area has long been known as the home of the mountain giant and experiences there go at least as far back as 1960. The following report was made that year by an outdoorsman native to that area. The following was pulled directly from the report. In the autumn of 1960, John Bringsley, an avid outdoorsman and Nelson native, was picking Huckleberry's near Six Mile Road, an abandoned logging road. Around 8 in the morning, in the middle of foraging, Bringsley caught sight of a massive creature standing roughly 40ft away. Bringsley described the creature as between 7 and 9ft tall with wide shoulders, no neck, an ape like face, flat ears, thick arms, and long silver blue fur covering its entire body. The two stared at one another for several minutes before the bipedal creature started walking toward Brinksley, which caused him to run off in fear toward his truck. Another report was made some 17 years later from just down the road in the Kootenanny Mountains. This report, Courtesy of the BFRO, January 1977. A man like creature that appeared to be covered in black hair was witnessed by my cousin and I around 22 or more years ago. The creature was bent down, squatting, splashing in the water, washing its hands. After yelling out to it several times and it not responding to us, it stood up and I estimated it to be six to seven feet tall. We both took off running and when we reached the shore we looked back and it was still watching us. We took off running and before you think all this activity only happened decades ago, the latest report we could find from the area was made only 17 years ago. It was found in an article in the June 2000 issue of Beautiful British Columbia magazine and reads as follows. Initially he thought it was his neighbor walking among the shrubs, but says he soon realized the animal was not human. One minute this creature was able to squat and be no more than three or four feet in height. Next it seemed to be able to draw itself up to six feet or perhaps more in length. Three others appeared and one of the smaller ones climbed into the branches of a tree. It was then that I first had the thought that I was looking at monkeys. The profile was like that of an orangutan. It seemed to have hair, not fur. It finally rose up. I was extremely struck with its barrel chest and seemingly long, skinny legs and arms. This, though, was only relative to its large chest and upper body. It walked off maybe two or three strides and it was gone. I don't know. If I didn't know any better, I'd say there might be some truth to those legends. And I love stories like this, Chris, and I especially love that you were listening to our program while you had the experience.
