Good evening and welcome to Monsters Among Us.
Derek Hayes
I'm your guide, Derek Hayes. Hello everyone. It's great to have you with us again here this evening. Now, full disclosure, tonight's gonna be a little bit different. How many of you remember the Grab Bag episodes? Well, as it turns out, my team and I got a little behind this week, and instead of unlocking a Beyond episode, we decided to bring that old segment back. Now, for those that don't know what Grab Bag is, when I was a kid, we used to yard sale a lot and sometimes you would little paper bags that just said grab Bag on them. They were a bug or two, but it was a treasure hunt every single time because you never knew what might be in those bags. And tonight's episode is exactly like that. Who knows what we're gonna hear here tonight, so buckle up and get yourself comfortable as I queue up tonight's first entry. And keep in mind that I'm hearing these calls for the very first time, just like you are. So from the state of Tennessee, please welcome April to the program.
April
Hello, Derek.
I have a UFO story. My name is April. I'm calling from Sparta, Tennessee. It's right in the middle of Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga. I'm like the same distance to all three of those towns. But anyway, the thing that happened to me happened in a little town in Tennessee called Gainsborough, which is north of where I live now, like towards Kentucky. So I'm pretty sure it was 1994 when this happened. I was 22. And this is before people had a way to get a hold of each other's cell phones or, you know, computers. Nothing like that yet. And so everyone would just ride around town and look for each other. And people would just sit everywhere. You never see people out like that anymore. But every day after work, this was like the best summer ever. Everyone would meet over at the park and play volleyball and stuff in the evenings and get together. And so many people would show up every day this one summer. So right when it got dark, me and my boyfriend got in our car and there was two of his friends in the backseat. And we just rode up the river from the park. And we just rode up the river, just talking, whatever. So I turned around and I was coming back towards town where the park is. I was just driving, and all of a sudden, right beside me, hovering, the river. This is. It's not a very big river, but it's like there was a small tree line between us, but this thing was right beside of me, like people say. I couldn't hear it. I didn't hear it at all. When I first saw it out in my peripheral vision, I thought it was like a big airplane. Like a big, huge airplane. It had, like different colored lights on it. But them guys, they said, stomp on it and see what it does. So I pushed it to the floor. And that thing, it stayed right beside of me. No matter what I did, it was right beside of me, and it was big. I don't know how it fit down there where it was. So right when we got almost back to the park, there's a hill across from the park, and everyone was still at the park. Everyone was leaving and stuff like that. So this thing, when we come off the river back to the park, that thing went up and over that hill. And all of a sudden it was like this big flashing light. Like it looked like it crashed, but it disappeared because nothing was there when we went up there. Nothing was there. No evidence of anything or not. Just barely got to see it. When it went over to go over that hill, that's when it got in front of my car. It almost looked triangular. Like remind me of a boomerang. But I don't know. I guess more triangular.
Host/Interviewer
Ish.
April
But anyway, so when we pulled in the park, every car that we passed stopped us. Because they saw us come from the riverway. And every one of them saw it. They were all stopping us, saying, I see that. And we're like. It just raced us down the river. And every single car. Everybody was flipping out, it disappeared. So we used to joke around about it and say maybe some alien teenagers stole their parents ship. You know, got out just cruising and aggravating people. But I don't know. That was crazy. I never forgot that. I'll never forget that. But this is my favorite podcast. I've abandoned my other podcast since I found this one and keep on keeping on.
Derek Hayes
Thank you April. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for checking out our film Shadows in the Desert, A Strangeness in the Perego triangle. If it's UFOs you like, the movie is full of them now. I remember those good old days when people were outside more looking for things to do, and that's usually when weird things would take place. Just like in April's story. So a huge thanks to you April for getting things started here this evening. Whatever that was in the sky, it sure sounded like it made for an interesting evening. Now folks, I have to take a quick break, but I'll be right back with more right after this.

Now, folks, join me in the state of New York for this next one. Please welcome Carlene to the program. Hi, Derek.
Host/Interviewer
This is Carlene.
April
I'm from New York, and I was just calling because I was just listening to an episode where another person named Kim had seen a black panther. And it really reminded me of something that happened to me a few years ago when I used to work at a gas station. Nothing particularly weird happened that night. It was just a normal shift. I was closing, weather was clear, I was closing up and heading out to home. I lived about 15 minutes away from the gas station, which I knew the road like the back of my hand. I knew the light like the back of my hand. It was a very easy drive, not crazy. I live in, like, a suburban area, really, only, like, deer around at night and rabbits. And I remember going about 40 miles an hour, and I was a little tired, but nothing too crazy. It was about 11:30, almost midnight, and then I was about five minutes away from my house, and I was driving down this road that I've driven down a million times. And I turned a corner, and I remember I knew exactly where I was because my boyfriend's cousin lived very close by. And I remember going, oh, there's his house coming up right there. But in the middle of the road, I saw this giant black cat. And I felt like I was crazy because I just watched it go across my headlights and across my car, and I watched it walk into the road in front of me. But I was also going like 40 miles an hour.
So it was going pretty quickly enough
to go dash, but not enough to for a sprint or a run. And I remember thinking I was crazy, and it just kind of disappeared. And I was trying to look, but I was also going about 40 miles an hour. So I didn't want to cause an accident, even though there was nobody else on the road. And I just remember thinking, what did I see?
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
What was that?
April
I couldn't believe it. And I knew that I wasn't completely crazy because my headlight shone on it, and it was like all the light absorbed into it. Like it was a physical thing. I remember getting home and calling my boyfriend. I was like, I just saw this crazy thing, and he just kind of laughed it off. Like, ah, I think you're just sleep deprived or you're just tired from your shift. But it just always stuck with me. I always think about it when I drive on that road. It was the only time that I seen something like that. But I would describe it as kind of like a black panther. It was huge. It was the biggest cat I've ever seen. And just the amount of light that it just absorbed, like it was just a pitch black, just giant cat. And it was so quiet and it all happened so quickly. Kim's story reminded me of that and I just hope that she can hear this one day as well and know that she's not crazy and other people have seen this giant black panther. And yeah, thank you so much for, you know, letting me tell my story and. Yeah, thank you. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Thank you. Carlene. I just mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, but New York is one of the top states when it comes to mystery big cat sightings. In fact, way back in the day, the television series Monster Quest actually did an episode on these creatures. And wouldn't you have took place mostly in upstate New York? So to me it's no surprise you see something strange up there, Carlene. But I do. Thank you for sharing the encounter here with us. Now folks, if you have a story you would like to share with us, give our hotline a call at 888-608-NIGHT. That's 888-608-NIGHT. Sasha
Hi, this is Cheryl.
Host/Interviewer
I'm 62 now. I was probably in my mid to early 30s and we were having a family event over at my parents house and I was in the kitchen with my nephew and my mother just, you know, getting prepared for our lunch or whatever we were doing. And you can see out into the driveway from the kitchen. I was over talking to my nephew who was, I don't know, maybe eight, ten, somewhere around there. He was peeling potatoes or something and I walked over to talk to him and all of a sudden this little girl flashed. She was in the driveway and then gone. Happened extremely quickly. And my nephew acknowledged that he had seen her too. I don't know how much time had passed, but I was out at my house. I was in the kitchen again, which looked out into my front yard, but the little girl again flashed out in my front yard. And at the same time my Stereo system popped on and this would have been in the 80s, so it wasn't, you know, like an ipod or anything. You had a four or five components that you might have to turn on to get the stereo to actually play. So it wasn't like it could have been triggered by an energy surge or electrical surge or something like that. You literally had to push four buttons to get that to turn on. So I don't know why, but I found out that a family who had lived up by my parents, they had three daughters and found out that one of those daughters had been killed when she was fairly young in a car accident. And I feel very, very certain that that was the girl I was seeing. And as a side note, I had a son years later, and one day he had told me that he was in my parents house late at night and there was a little girl by the chair where he was sitting. Thank you.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Cheryl. Now, as strange as it is, I see the stereo popping on as confirmation of this sighting. What are the chances that that would happen at the very moment that you saw this mystery girl? I bet it does a lot for your sanity to know that your nephew also saw this entity. At least you have that spooky stuff. Cheryl, we thank you for telling us the tale. Our next entry takes us to nearby Arkansas. Please welcome Chris back to the show.
Chris
Hi, Derek. This is Chris from Arkansas. This is my husband's. He won't call, so I'm going to do it for him. When he was a kid, he would go down to the river in Illinois, northern Illinois, and would go fishing overnight and he would bring his dog with him. One night he was there and he heard a bunch of whoops and yells and he didn't know what it was. His dog was freaking out about it. His dog was kind of mean, so that kind of shook him a little bit. So a few months later, his dad says, well, let's go to the movies. And he says, all right. And it was the Legend of Boggy Creek. So he's sitting in the theater and those whoops start at the beginning. And his face just went pale. And his dad was like, well, what's the matter? He says, I've heard that before. And his dad was like, what? Shut up. He says, no, that was in our backyard, you know, a few months ago. So he didn't see anything, but he definitely heard. And you know, this was back in the day when you didn't know any of this stuff. So. Thank you so much, Derek. Love the podcast.
Host/Interviewer
Bye bye.
Derek Hayes
Thank you Chris I was hoping Bigfoot would show up in this episode. I'm a sucker for a good Bigfoot story. Now it's not lost on me that this encounter took place in the state of Illinois. Believe it or not, Illinois is a huge Bigfoot hotspot. According to the information provided by the Bigfoot Field Researchers organization, Illinois ranks fifth in the United States for Bigfoot sightings with 296 sightings, very little context. Washington state is number one with 676 sightings. So that puts it all in perspective. And I wonder how many other witnesses had the same realization as they were watching films like the Legend of Boggy Creek. You might have heard a Bigfoot and you didn't even know it. Amazing stuff. Chris, we appreciate you sharing your husband's story and we thank you again for calling in. You don't know more about this kangaroo

Now this next call takes us to the state of Massachusetts, but according to my notes here, the tale actually takes place in Connecticut. Please welcome Devin to tonight's program.
Devin
Hey Derek, my name is Devin from Palmer, Massachusetts. I'm gonna start off with a little backstory. Me and my girlfriend, we listen to this band and we've seen them in concert a couple times and they're called Ice 9 Kills. And their whole last album they base all their songs of like famous horror movies and whatnot. And one night me and my girlfriend, we went down Hartford, Connecticut to go to Cabela's. We ended up meeting up with a friend of mine, and we end up having dinner together. And on our way back, we have taken back roads back up 83, up until Ellington and whatnot. And there's a lake called Crystal Lake. And you can. I guarantee you already see where this is going. And one of the songs the band does is called thank God It's Friday, which it's based off Friday the 13th. And I didn't think about it, but the day we went down, we went down to Friday and it was Friday the 13th. And we're coming by and our girlfriend's like, oh, look, Crystal Lake. She's like, oh, Crystal Lake. I have my Spotify playlist on. And then the song came on. Like, we heard the song come on. She's like, well, that's just where that song comes on. These are going by. And I'm like, yeah. And It's Friday the 13th as well. And she's like, what? And I'm like, yeah, it's Friday the 13th. She's like, well, that's weird. But that was the first time it happened. The next time was me and her. We were in her car. And of course, we were down in Connecticut. I don't remember what town we were in. We're in a town kind of northwest of Hartford because we went down to a reptile store or something like that, and we were driving. I ended up noticing we went on a street called Elm Street. And then as we're driving on the street, the song they do about Nightmare on Elm street called the American Nightmare comes on. And she's like, oh, I love this song.
Matt
I'm like, yeah.
Devin
I'm like, wow, we're on Elm Street. She's like, what? And then she looked at her GPS and she's like, wait, we're on Elm Street?
Matt
I'm like, yeah.
Devin
Like, that's pretty weird. Like, this is the second time this has happened to us. It was just a very odd thing that happened, and I just thought I'd call it in. It was just weird that it happened twice to us in Connecticut on just kind of nights. We were just driving around. So that's all I got for you.
Kelly
Thank you. Bye.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Devin, for that interesting entry. Now, there's two ways you can look at this. You can point out all these similarities and get freaked out by them, or you can see it as a sign. Go buy a lottery ticket, because either you're cursed or extremely lucky. Now give me a call back if you happen to be in Haddonfield Connecticut. And your cashier at Walmart is none other than Michael Myers. Fun stuff, Devin. I love a good horror film. We thank you again for taking the time to call. Now, gang, let's make our way to the West Coast. Please welcome Hunter from the state of Washington.
Hunter
Hey, Derek. My name is Hunter, I live in Washington. But this story takes place in Utah. When I was about 12 or 13 years old, me and a friend, we wanted to do YouTube recordings. Specifically, we did prank wars because we were kids. But he had gotten a new laptop for his birthday. And the two of us are messing around with the camera, you know, testing out filters, different camera settings, shutter mode, taking a lot of pictures at once to give you perspective of the room we were in. We were in his bedroom. His bed was bare because all of his bedding was being washed. He was sitting on the ground by the foot of the bed where he had a coffee table and the laptop was on that. I was sitting behind him on the bed. And the angle the camera was at was facing towards the bed. You can see me and you can see all the way to the back wall. Now, his bed frame was blue aluminum poles with brass caps. And you could clearly see the one in the corner right behind me. And while we were taking these shutter photos, we were going through them, kind of looking at all the photos we'd taken. And in one photo, all of a sudden behind me, you couldn't see the blue aluminum pole anymore because there was what looked like another kid around our age sitting behind me with a blanket wrapped around him. Where his hand should have been was more of just kind of a white, formless blob. You couldn't really sneak out any finger details or anything. The pattern on the blanket looked almost like if you were to go into a gift shop at a Native American themed store. Kind of like the red and black wool just with patterns on it. And you could see the head. And again, it was kind of head shaped, vaguely blob white, featureless except for indents where the eyes should have been. Like I said, it was just sitting a couple feet behind me staring at the camera. In that one photo, I thought my friend saw it and we went and showed his mom and she saw it and was really creeped out by the whole thing. And we don't know what it was or who it was. We assume it was the ghost of some kid who wanted to hang out with us because we were having fun, fun playing outside. I was there all the time, but I really stuck with me because it was really creepy. Just knowing something was sitting behind me in that one photo. And like I said, it wasn't see through. You couldn't see the blue pole at all. Behind was just a kid hunched over with a blanket staring at the camera like he was sitting there with us. Yeah, that's my submission. Keep up the podcast. I listen to it while I'm at work and I appreciate it. Thank you. Have a good day.
Derek Hayes
Thanks Hunter, for sharing that creepy entry. You're leaving us hanging here. We would love to lay eyes on this photograph, so if you have it, please email it to me at monsters among us podcastmail.com and I'll be sure to put it up in tonight's show notes. I love creepy stories like this, especially when there's photographic evidence. Thank you again, Hunter, for bringing in. Now, folks, let's play one more story before we take our next break. So from our neighbors up north, please welcome Kelly and Matt to the program.
Kelly
Hi Derek. My name is Kelly and I live
April
in Fredericton, New Brunswick.
Kelly
My partner Matt and I have been here for about a year. We drive back and forth to our previous hometown quite regularly just to visit friends and that kind of thing. You probably remember Matt. He called in season wait, season 17, episode 43 and he was the jumper call at the end of the episode. And I'm calling you right now because we're currently in the middle of a strange situation. We think it's happening again, but this time it's kind of pretty intense. We left Moncton, New Brunswick about four hours ago.
Matt
It's an hour and a half drive.
Kelly
It's an hour and a half drive. Matt promised he wouldn't interject here, but he can't help it.
Matt
Freaking out.
Kelly
He's freaking out because it's an hour
Host/Interviewer
and a half drive.
Kelly
We've done it like 35 times in the last year.
Matt
And in the last technical hour, we've jumped three times. It's been five hours and we're in
Kelly
a town we don't know now. We're Every time we try to figure out where we are, we're an hour and 16 minutes away from home, from wherever we've been. And now we're in a town called Norton.
Matt
Never been here.
Kelly
I've never been here. I used to be an ambulance dispatcher. I know Norton because I've dispatched ambulances here. I've never set foot here. I have no clue how I would have missed the I'm a good driver. I've been driving a long time. We drive a lot.
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
This is so Crazy.
Host/Interviewer
We had to fill up gas three times.
Kelly
Yeah. Here's the thing.
Matt
We had an emotional couple days there. We're going through a lot of personal stuff, so I've noticed that when I get emotional, then I realize this stuff happens to us. And I'm so happy that Kelly's here beside me because it proves I'm not a freak.
Chris
Yeah.
Kelly
And I, I'd been with him when this happened before, so I already knew that this was not like, you know, a joke.
Matt
So we decided to call in live.
Kelly
We thought, like, this is insane. We gotta call Derek because it's happening right now.
Host/Interviewer
It's so crazy.
Matt
Five hours into an hour and a half drive, buddy. We love the podcast, but we're gonna,
Kelly
we're gonna, we're gonna try again and we'll let you know how it goes. Hopefully we'll make it home. Thank you so much. Hi, Derek, this is Kelly again from New Brunswick, Canada, and Matt the jumper. So we called about 20, 30 minutes ago. We're now in our fourth hour of Dirt road on an hour and a half trip. So we step up to the gas station. We had to fill up gas three times. And we finally asked, we said, how do you get to Fredericton from here?
Chris
We live there.
Kelly
It's so embarrassing. So she gives us directions, we follow them to a T. And we're going to upload a photo of where we are right now. This is our highway and we're going to show you that we're not at all where she said we were going to be. We can't even use Google right now because Google Maps is.
Matt
We're at a. Now our drive is at an hour and 35 to go, and we've been driving for over five hours.
Kelly
And as we drive, the time changes between like an hour and 16, an hour and 18, an hour and 35, and then back to an hour and 16, back to an hour.
Host/Interviewer
What the hell?
Kelly
Yeah, it's an hour and 30 to
Matt
Frederick into Moncton, and we've been driving five hours and we have an hour and 30 to go.
Kelly
I don't know, we're pretty animated because it's pretty funny.
April
That's a little wound up.
Matt
I don't get it.
Kelly
I don't get it.
Matt
I'm so blown away.
Kelly
But so we're gonna just kind of. We have our tent with us. We're thinking about just tenting, right?
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
Yeah, right.
Kelly
Right here where we are now. We're gonna take a little walk around and see if maybe we're just gonna tent it Again and try again tomorrow.
Matt
So, in a nutshell, Derek, this is no joke. This is our fourth attempt to hit home.
Host/Interviewer
Our fifth.
Matt
Now, this will be our fifth.
Host/Interviewer
We're starting our fifth.
Matt
So I'm gonna post all of my geographic location. What do you call them, the pinpoints on the map when it's all said and done, to show you all these crazy places that we've been.
Derek Hayes
Because I have proof.
Matt
I took pictures. I have no idea how it's happening.
Kelly
So you'll see.
Matt
Stay tuned.
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
We hope we can get home.
Matt
Wish us luck. Hey, Derek, it's Matthew phoning you. It's another entry of our epic jumping adventure today. So Kelly and I just got back to our home. The drive that we were calling in this morning from, that's supposed to take an hour and a half for us to get home. It ended up being eight and a half hours. We teleported about seven or eight times, and I have the proof. But we made it home safe, barely by now.
Derek Hayes
Thank you, Kelly and Matt. Time jumpers or time slips or glitches in the matrix, whatever you want to call these things, they're unsettling to hear about and I would imagine nightmare fuel to experience. Now, I've never experienced anything like that myself, but I have come close once, back when I was still living in Columbus, Ohio, a friend and I drove out to Philadelphia for the weekend just to sightsee and see something new. Well, I was the navigator and I was in charge of getting us back. And this was before there were Internet maps available. It was the old MapQuest style. So I charged my laptop the night before and I had the route ready to go. Well, when we got into the car, I came to the route realization that my laptop had not charged all night, and in fact, we were driving blind. So I sort of winged it. I directed him to go here and there based on signs I was seeing, pretending the entire time not to be as lost as we were. Well, not only did we make our way without any issues, we somehow cut nearly an hour out of our commute. To this day, I still have no idea how that happened, but Kelly and Matt's experience reminded me of that. Of course, their version is much more nightmarish than mine was. Now, hopefully, Matt and Kelly make their way home. I'd hate to think they're still out there somewhere, wandering around
Matt
every before that center. The dead rats.

Rob
Hello Derek, this is Rob again from the uk. I just wanted to tell you about a bizarre experience that happened to me. This would have been in May of 1991. I was living in Cambridge at the time and I was traveling back to Cambridge after visiting my mum. I'd visited my mum's house, which was about 20 miles west of Cambridge. Just shortly after leaving my mother's house, I was driving back to Cambridge heading east. The sky was very overcast, so there was a lot of light being reflected off the clouds and things like that. As I was driving along I saw something flash past my window on the driver's side. So I glanced up at the sky and after a few seconds I saw another light flashing in the sky, then another and another. And what gradually became apparent as I was looking out the window was I was looking at an enormous pinwheel of light that was rotating. It was a huge circle and it was following my car. It was the most bizarre sight. The lights were concentric. They were kind of going into the middle, then coming out again, going into the middle, coming out again, kind of pulsating, changing color. So I continued along the road for a good few miles, I would probably say six miles, and I got to a roundabout called the Caxton Gibbet, which is an appropriately spooky place. It's a location where they allegedly used to hang highwaymen and other other criminals way back in the day. And there's A replica of the gibbet is still there. I mean, there's a McDonald's there now and a petrol station. It's quite a big area now, but it's still quite an odd sort of spooky kind of place. Anyway, as I got to this roundabout, there was a truck driver pulled up and two or three other motorists had been pulled up, and we were all staring at this light that was circling over our cars. And the truck driver, I'll never forget this, he turned to me and he said, that's got to be a ufo. And we were looking at this thing, and the lights were going in and out and pulsating and changing color, and it was absolutely enormous. It was about the size of a football field. So I got back in my car, started to head back towards Cambridge, and this thing started following my car again. So I'm driving along, I'm looking at this thing, and then gradually I became aware that lasers were coming out of the bottom of this object heading towards the ground. And now by this time, I was starting to get really freaked out. I thought, this is just really weird now, what's going on? Continue down the road a few more miles. And then I noticed that the lasers were getting brighter. They were gaining in intensity, and they seemed to be focused in on a particular area of the ground. And then it suddenly dawned on me what I was looking at. In Cambridge in May, it's the graduation party for all of the Cambridge University students. All of the universities have what's called a mayball. And for these May balls, they have fun fairs, they have bands, they have all kinds of things. And it turns out what I was looking at was a laser light show that was projecting from the ground up onto the clouds. You know, the cloud ceiling must have been fairly low, you know, perhaps a few hundred feet at best. But this thing was visible from miles away. So I'd essentially been driving towards this laser show, but it had looked like a UFO that was following my car. The optical illusion that this thing created was. Was just amazing. And the thing that puts me in mind of this was one of your guests mentioned seeing a pinwheel ufo, and that reminded me of my experience back in the summer of 1991. It even made it onto the news the next day because people apparently had been phoning in saying they'd seen this object in the sky that turned out to be strictly terrestrial in its origin. Anyway, I love the podcast, you know, thank you for all of your hard work, all your editing and all your research that you do we really all enjoy them? I hope you enjoyed this and I hope it made you chuckle. Thank you. Bye bye.

Thank you, Rob for the entry and thanks for telling the truth about what you saw. I imagine sometimes people realize that what they saw wasn't something paranormal. But the story was too good not to continue the charade. And it just goes to show you that not everything you see in the sky is alien tech or some top secret government war machine. Every once in a while there's a logical explanation.

A big thanks to Rob for the long distance entry. Thanks again for calling in. Now up next, we venture down to Florida. Please welcome Sasha to the show.
Sasha
Hi, this is Sasha from Florida. The women in my family tend to be sensitive to energies and ghosts and things like that. But I kind of wanted to call in and talk about a dream I had. It wasn't scary, it's a. It was kind of comforting. It was a lot different than other encounters I've had and I'm sorry, I'll probably get emotional telling this dream. It is a very emotional story for me. To start off, my grandmother, my dad's mother and I were weirdly close, though we hadn't spent much time together. I met her, you know, when I was a toddler. She lived in West Virginia and she battled cancer for eight years. She was bedridden for almost eight years with cancer. And when I met her, she was bedridden and couldn't even talk very well. And I at first was like really scared. I'm a toddler, you know, and just learning to speak and stuff. And I was like kind of really scared of her and like the machines and things she was on. And my mom went to take me to bed and she explained grandma's really sick and you know, she still loves you and all this. She's just very sick right now.

her that, you know, we love her and she's just going through a difficult time. And I said, I want to go say goodnight to grandma. And since then, that little time that I was there, I was very close to my grandma and I spent lots of time with her and we had this connection. But we moved to Colorado and years later, I think I was about nine years old, my dad got a call saying it's close to time. And so he got out on a plane, you know, and went out there so he could be there for when she passed. We weren't sure when it was going to be. We just knew it was coming up. He'd been out there I think a few days or something, I was sleeping in his bed because he had a fun big water bed and such. And one night I went to sleep and I had this dream and it was about my grandma. And it was like this Cinderella story that there are these three women that were keeping her in this house and they were treating her badly and they're abusing her, they were treating her like their servant and she's had to clean after them, she's had to do everything for them. And I could see that this was killing her. And I was like, I have to get my grandma out of here. And so I can't remember exactly what the details were, but I got my grandma out of that house. And what I remember was afterwards we were walking through a field of flowers,

me and she goes, sasha, I have to go. I was like, grandma, I don't want you to go.
Host/Interviewer
She's like, I know, but I love you and I'll always be with you. And she let go of my hand

and she turned away and she walked into the field until she disappeared. And my mother woke me up right then to tell me that my grandma had passed away. But me and my family strongly believe that that was my grandma telling me that it was time for her to go. But thank you for letting me share this story with everyone.

Thank you, Sasha, for sharing the entry. It's incredible and very powerful stuff. I can see why you get emotional telling the tale. Now we've talked about this sort of phenomenon a ton here on the program. Loved ones that have passed away or about to pass away, that somehow reach out in our dreams to convey one last message or simply to say goodbye. And that's exactly what it seems like Sasha's grandmother did. She came back to say goodbye. Thank you, Sasha, for your bravery. Thank you again for sharing the tale. Now folks, hopefully this next entry is a little more uplifting. Please welcome Anonymous from parts unknown.
Anonymous West Virginia Caller
This incident occurred in the summer of 2017 in the Panhandle of West Virginia. I was house sitting for my buddy's in laws and they were all going to the beach, my buddy and his in laws. And so I was gonna stay the night there every night. They had set up for me one of those like Tom and Jerry beds where, you know, like Tom would get stuck in it because it folds in the middle. I had never seen one of those before, but they'd set that up and his father in law gave me a flashlight and a.45. So I'd gotten off Work, you know, drove over there, fed the chickens, fed the dog, fed the cats, hung out for bed, made myself some dinner. I know it was a Monday night because I sat down to watch WWE RAW and wrestling was over. I was like, I'm go to sleep. So I've got this fold up bed set up underneath of the tv. I'm sleeping with the TV at, like, my head. So in this living room, the wall that the TV is on faces north. On the east wall of the living room there is the front porch. And there's a robe that runs, I mean, like five feet off of this porch. It is right on pretty bad turn on a back road. I'm honestly surprised nobody has driven into their house yet. So I go to go to bed, I lay down, and I'm like just starting to fall asleep. And there is a crash that wakes me up. I mean, it feels like it shakes the whole house, you know, And I just immediately spring out of bed, grab the gun, grab the flashlight, and look at the front door. Because I'm thinking somebody's trying to kick the front door in. And I stand there for a second and nothing happens. I work up the courage and I go on. I look out the window of the door, there's nobody there. So like, so what the hell was that? So then I'm thinking, oh my God, somebody just drove into the house. You know, like somebody hit the porch or something. So I'm looking out the front window, there's nothing there. And so now I'm starting to get kind of confused and a little bit freaked out because I know I felt that, I heard it. I felt that it lifted me, felt like it was under me. And so then I'm like, oh, it's an old spring bed, right? I bet a spring broke on this stupid thing, you know, and it just scared the daylights out of me. And so I like take the flashlight and I'm looking under the spring bed and I don't see anything. But what I do notice is this living room has a hardwood floor. And right underneath my bed, there is a perfectly cut square in the hardwood floor that looks like a hatch. And I start freaking out because I think somebody's trying to get up through the hatch. So I retreat back to the kitchen where now from where I'm standing, I can see the bed. I can also see out the window into the driveway and I can see the storm door that leads to the basement. So now somebody's in this basement. I got them covered from both ways that they're coming and they're going to have a real bad evening. And so I call my buddy's wife, you know, she grew up in this house. And I finally get a hold of her and I say, is there like a hatch in your living room? Like, I think somebody's in the house, you know. And she asked her dad and her dad's like, yeah, we nailed that up years ago. It doesn't open. And I was like, I swear to God, it's like somebody tried to come up through it. I felt it lift me out of the bed. So I'm freaking out and I'm like, screw this, I'm out of here. So I take the gun, shove it in one of the drawers in the kitchen. He's not laying on the counter. I had like this military rucksack thing that I kept my clothes in, grabbed that, threw my contact stuff in there, out of the bathroom and just went to my car and left. And so I drove to my buddy's house. It's his in laws, where another friend of ours is watching their house. And they're down and it's like 11:30 at night at this point. And I just come in the back door. My other buddy is sitting at the kitchen table eating like ramen or something. He's like, what are you doing here? And I tell him the story and he's like, that's weird. I was like, yeah, I ain't sleeping in that house, man. I'm gonna go to bed. So I went upstairs to the room that, you know, I would usually crash in over there, and I'll go to sleep later on when we would talk about this, I didn't realize it, but I guess I was pretty freaked out when I got in the house. But he was like, yeah, man, you were white as a sheep. So I still got to take care of these chickens and this dog stuff, you know, but like, I'm not. I'm not sleeping in this house anymore. And I was even a little creeped out when I got there in the daylight. So I do my thing. I feed the chickens, I feed the dogs, feed the feral cats. And now I'm getting kind of brave because it's daylight. And I figure if somebody was down there, they ain't there anymore. And even if they are, I got a.45. So I open the storm door and, you know, I start looking around down there and there's no way anybody went down through that storm river because there are spider webs just running all across. I had to take a broom handle and clear them So I could get down into the basement. They would have knocked all this stuff down, you know. And I get down in there and I, I look around because I'm thinking, you know, hey, maybe there's a critter down here or something, you know, and there's nothing. I look at the little windows and they're all sealed up tight. But the whole time I was there, I just had this like, I don't want to be here feeling. And for the rest of the week, whenever I would go over there, I would feed the chickens and the cats and dogs or whatever. I didn't feel right being there. I felt like I was being watched. And I told my buddy and his wife when they got back, like, listen, I ain't staying at your parents house no more. You couldn't pay me enough to sleep in that house again. And I never did love the show. Doing some good work. Thanks.
Derek Hayes
Oh, that's creepy stuff, caller. And speaking of horror films, as we were talking about earlier, this one reminds me of the Evil Dead. If you recall, at a certain point one of the main characters becomes possessed and is locked in the basement. And at a certain point during the film she comes out the hatch. Hard to get that picture out of my head. Now as for not sleeping at the house, I can't say that I blame you, caller. I don't know that I would have either, but I do thank you for taking the time to share this nightmare fuel. Now gang, we gotta take our last break of the evening, but when I come back, I have two more stories for you. I can't tell you what they're about, but I bet they're good. Don't touch that dial.

Hi, I'm Colin from Texas and this is a story my dad told me about a UFO he saw while he was serving in the Navy. It was 1976 and he was on a training drill few hundred miles off the coast of Pensacola, Florida, and he gets woken up in the middle of the night by one of his buddies who's telling him he has to go out and look at something and he yells them off and tries to go back to bed but his buddy keeps shaking him away. He goes out and looks at it. Everyone's gathered at the back of the ship. They're looking at something in the water. It's a bright light, he says. All he could see was a light and sometimes it went deeper, sometimes it went closer to the surface. The thing is, he said when it came to the surface he could actually see waves breaking against it. He never saw anything but a light, but there was something there the waves were breaking against. But he had to start his shift. I don't know what the military term is, his shift. And he goes down in the ship and he's got a checklist of stuff to do and when he gets a chance to come back out on deck again, the lights moved, now it's alongside of the ship. It was keeping pace with them the whole time, never moving off of them, keeping the same distance. Now it's alongside the ship and now it's floating in the air, like up in the air above him. And he stays out and watches it for a while and then he says it zig, it zagged and it zoomed away and that was the last he saw of it. He asked a few questions, but it was above his pay grade and he doesn't know what it was. Anyway, like the show. Bye.

Thank you caller for sharing. You know, as common as these USO sightings are, we don't get a lot of calls about them here on the program. Maybe the right people aren't seeing them, or maybe the people that are seeing them are simply tight lipped. Either way, when these reports do come in, they typically stem from places like Southern California here off the coast. We don't typically get these encounters from places like Florida, but I'M glad that we did, and I'm glad that you took the time to share this secondhand story, caller. We appreciate the phone call. And that, folks, takes us to the final entry here this evening. And this one, too, comes to us from the state of Texas. Please welcome another anonymous caller to tonight's program.
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
Hi, I am calling from San Antonio, Texas. I would like to remain anonymous. This is not my story, but my son's story. This would have been in 2019. My son was in high school and he, you know, hung out with a bunch of other high school boys. They've all been friends pretty much since fourth grade, fifth grade, you know, stayed over at each other's houses every weekend. Really tight group of young men, all high school football players, basketball players. These boys were very well adjusted, sane high school kids. So anyway, my son was spending the night at his friend's house, and I'll call my son Ed, and I'll call his friend Donnie. So they were staying over at Donnie's house. And here in San Antonio, out sort of in the woods, we have these big canyons, a lot of scrub oak and limestone canyons. Very rocky, you know, waist high grass, head high, live oak trees, that sort of thing. So, you know, as teenage boys will do, they decided to go out roaming in the woods and see what hijinks they could get into. So my son said, as they crested this hill, they stopped and looked down into this canyon and they saw something shiny, like something reflecting off of a mirror type thing. And they both were like, what is that? Do you see that? Yeah, what is that? And as they got closer, my son said, it's a stove. He said, there's like this big metal stainless steel looking. He said, we thought it was a stove. He said it was a big square and it had a piece on one side like a chimney. And he said, we were like, why would somebody throw a. Looks like a brand new stainless steel steel stove down in this canyon? And they said they weren't quite close enough to it to see a lot of detail. But, you know, they both agreed. Yeah, that's a stove down there. You know, that's what the sun's reflecting off of. So, you know, being teenager boys, they were like, let's go down and look at it. So they started down into the canyon and he said they were able to see it the whole time. They never lost sight of it as they got closer to it. But he said, mom, I don't know how to explain this. He said, but this was the shiniest shine you could ever imagine. He said, if you were to try and describe the word shiny or reflective. He said, this was the most shiny, the most reflective thing I have ever seen. He said, I can't describe it. He said, but as we got closer, all of a sudden we both just froze. And all the birds stopped. There was no wind, no birds, nothing. He said it was like we were in a vacuum. And he said we looked at each other and neither one of us could speak. Neither one of us could move. And there was just a vacuum, like silence. And they looked at this stove thing, this big metallic box, and my son said, that's when they realized it wasn't touching the ground. It was a few inches above the ground because they could see all the way under it. And he said, they just stood there. And he said, mom, I don't know how to tell you this, but it was. Wanted us to look at, wanted us to listen. And he said what it was telling us in our minds, not getting any sort of audible sound, but in our minds it was telling us that everything's going really bad and that we're destroying the planet and that if we don't wake up, something really, really bad is going to happen if we don't start. Start taking care of the planet. And he said, as soon as we sort of received that message, I looked over at my friend and he said, I was taking my phone out of my pocket, you know. They said, all of a sudden, it's like, it dawned on me, Hey, I should have been filming this or I should have taken a picture. And he said, just as soon as I reached into my pocket from my phone, it was gone. He said, it didn't rise up and fly away. It didn't, you know, sink into the earth. It literally just was gone. And all of a sudden, you could hear the birds again. You could hear the wind. You could hear distant traffic. And he said, I looked at him and he looked at me, and we both just turned and ran home. And what's interesting is I didn't know this until later. All I know that day day is my son called me and said, I'm ready to come home. And I was like, you're not due to come home till tomorrow. He's like, I want to come home now. So I drove across town and picked him up. And he was absolutely quiet, boy back. So I thought, you know, he and his friends gotten into, like, a little fat or, you know, something had happened. And he just, you know, was real, real quiet. So when he got home, he went in his room, closed the doors. You know, teenage boys do. I didn't really think too much about it. And a few days later, I heard him in his room on the phone arguing with somebody. I don't know what was going on. So he comes out of his room, and he's crying. He's just bawling. I mean, tears rolling down his face. And this is not a child who cries. He's, you know, big, tough football player, macho teenage boy. He doesn't cry. So he comes in the living room and he's just crying, crying. And he says, mom, I need to tell you something. Of course, immediately I'm thinking, oh, my God, he got a girl pregnant or something terrible has happened. I said, okay. And so he tells me the story. And he's shaking like a leaf, absolutely. Just trembling, terrified. I've never seen him like that about anything. So I, you know, I had no doubt that what he was telling me was the truth. While he's telling me the story of what they saw, he got a piece of paper and a pencil, and he drew it. He drew, like, a map showing the layout of where this square metallic thing was and where they were. And he drew the whole thing out on a piece of paper. So anyway, yeah, the reason he and his friend were arguing on the phone is because my son wanted to talk about it. He really wanted to talk about what they had seen. And his friend said, I don't want to talk about it. I don't want to think about it, and I don't want you to ever mention it again. Nothing happened. We saw nothing. I don't want you to ever talk about this to me again. And so my son was just feeling really alone. And that's why he came in the living room, because he said, I have to talk about this. He doesn't want me to talk about it with him. But, Mom, I have to talk to somebody. I have to say something. So, you know, of course, being Mom, I told him, you know, wow, thank you. That's a crazy story. Thank you for sharing that with me.
Sasha
And, you know, I love you.

And I hugged him and, you know, everything was okay. And as he got up, he wadded up the piece of paper that he had drawn it on and threw it in the trash, went back in his room. So, needless to say, I grabbed the piece of paper out of the trash and smoothed it out. And I still have that piece of paper, and I'm happy to email in a picture of it, but, yes, he's now in his 20s. And he still gets upset when he talks about it. And to this day, his friend does not want to talk about it with him. They're still friends, but that is one subject that they do not discuss. But yeah, it really messed up my son. It really freaked him out. You know, he always kind of laughed
Kelly
about UFOs and Bigfoot and ghosts.
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
That was just something he just never was into. He couldn't care less about science fiction or space or Star wars or anything. And he really didn't care too much about, about environmental saving the Earth and all that. But after that, he has a different look at issues of the Earth. But yeah, anyway, it was very weird. It was sort of one of the defining moments of my son's growing up.

Yeah, thanks.

Wow. Caller, thank you for sharing your son's story. I don't know what to make of it, but thank you for sharing nonetheless. Now, let me start with the message. Over the years, we've heard similar stories like this, where people will experience something odd or unusual in the wilderness. And that odd or unusual thing, sometimes an object, sometimes a being, will share a message that the Earth is in danger and that the human race needs to act quickly to reverse the damages. And while I fully believe that, I often wonder why they bother telling everyday normal people, outside of sharing messages, voting and talking to representatives, what can the everyday person do to reverse these damages? Perhaps that's a cynical way to look at this, but it seems to me that if they really want results, they should go directly to leadership. All that said, maybe some listeners out there have some ideas as to what this thing might have been. And if you do, please by all means reach out and let us know. Our number is 888-6089 or you can email me at monsters among us podcastmail.com and lastly, before I duck out of here, if you still have that paper, caller, I would love to lay eyes on it. Shoot me an email. I'll be sure to keep it 100% anonymous, but wild stuff. And we thank you again for taking the time to share your son's entry. hi,
Crystal
this is Crystal calling in from the state of Arizona. I'm calling about something that happened to me when I was a kid. I'm in my 30s now, and this happened. I was around elementary school age, somewhere in the early 90s, so I was home at the time and I had like a cold virus or something and it was nighttime. I was in my bedroom, which at the time I shared with my little brother. He was asleep next to me. Everyone in the house was asleep except for my dad, who was in the living room outside the bedroom watching tv. So I don't know if I had just woken up or have been looking in a different part of the room. But all of a sudden when I look over to the corner of the bedroom, which is where the doorway was that connected my bedroom to the living room. So it's the only doorway in and out of my bedroom. I saw two figures standing in the corner there, right in front of the door. Like the best way to describe them, I would say, if you've ever seen or driven through like heavy fog like
Sasha
that dense kind of white, not totally opaque.
Crystal
It looked like somebody bottled dense, heavy fog. And there were two figures. One was in the shape of an adult and one was a little shorter in the shape of a child. So yeah, it's just these white, foggy
Anonymous Texas Caller (Mother)
looking humanoid shapes standing in the corner.
