And it's one of those aforementioned ghost stories that we begin with here this evening. A terror inducing entry from Margie in the state of Ohio.

Hi, my name is Margie. I live in Freeport, Ohio. This is a story about my dad. He was raised in West Virginia, dirt poor. And one day when he was about 13 or 14, him and his buddy decided they wanted to jump on a freight train and just go for a ride. As long as they felt like getting in, jump off and catch one going back home. They had never done it before, but they'd been warned to stick to the open cars because they could get locked in the box cars if they were caught. So they were in an open car. It had tombstones covered with tarps, so it was a perfect hiding place. So every time the train stopped or was inspected, they just got underneath tarps and hidden leaning against the tombstones. Well, when the train was running free and clickety clacking right along, they decided to climb up on top of the boxcar and find the next car up. They were standing there Looking towards the back of the train, enjoying the view, you know, shooting the breeze. All of a sudden, this old man appeared down in the open car and was frantically waving to them to get down. And my father was pushing away these ribbons that were hanging down over his head. So finally they listened to the old man and they jumped down. And just as they jumped down, they went under a tunnel. So they would have been killed had not this old man warned them to get down. So when they turned around to thank him, he wasn't there. My father said he thinks it was a soul that was traveling with his tombstone in the car with them. That's my story. My dad loved to tell that story. Thanks for everything you do, Derek and Sarah. Keep it spooky.

Hi, my name is Jay. I live in Texas.

But a couple years before Katrina happened,

my in laws took us for a trip to New Orleans. I love New Orleans. I grew up near there in Pensacola. And I was going to take my son around New Orleans.

So I took him to Cafe Du

Monde, got him some like really watered down coffee and some beignets and we were walking around, we went to the Maria Laveau Museum. It was awesome. On the way back to the hotel though, because he was getting kind of tired. He was like kindergarten age maybe, but

he got really tired.

And you know, in the French quarters things are very, very crowded. I just looked to the right and there was this guy, it was like a thin, Asian appearing man. I'm not sure how old he was, but he had like a button down shirt and khaki pants and he just tilted his head at a very unnatural angle and had this crazy looking scary smile. I grabbed my son's hand and we went through an alley, like zigzagged back to the hotel room. That's the scariest thing that ever happened to me. And I'm not even sure what exactly happened. I've never heard of anything like this before. But the weird thing is I only told my husband about it like a year later because I wasn't that sure what happened. But it was really weird. But I just knew whatever it was, it wanted my son. Anyway, love the show. Hope you all Have a great day.

Now, like I said before the break, I have one more story about a mysterious, ghostly man. And this one was submitted out of Wisconsin. Please welcome Barbara to the show.

Hi Derek, my name is Barbara. I live in Wisconsin. I am calling about a story that took place in San Antonio, Texas in the year 2000. I just moved there and found an apartment. It was in a very old house. The landlord was in the process of partitioning the house into several units. And I happen to be the first tenant that moved in. And I was there alone. The house had kind of an unsettling vibe to me. I just felt like there had been something that had happened there or there was some kind of story that the home was trying to tell me. But it was dark, it was ominous, and it was just a little unusual. It was totally empty except for an old piano that was in the hallway, which should have been a clue to me. I don't know why it was there, but it was just left behind. Well, one night after moving in, I had very few belongings and I had a twin mattress that was my temporary bed. It was kind of in the middle of the room. Anyways, probably the first or second night that I was there, there was an intense thunderstorm. There was lightning, heavy rain, loud thunder. It seemed like it was just right over that house. And also the electricity, it was really scary for me because I was the only one there in this big, big house all alone. The room I was in had no coverings on the windows either. And the windows were large, and a tall vertical window so went pretty much from the ceiling to the floor. So each time at lightning, I could kind of see outside. I could see the silhouettes of trees and buildings. One of the lightning strikes that happened, I happened to be looking out the window. And right as the lightning happened, I saw there was a man standing outside, staring in the window, looking right at me. I couldn't really make out specifics. It looked like he had a hat, maybe a raincoat, maybe a beard. I really can't remember the specifics because this happened almost 26 years ago. But I remember being absolutely terrified when that happened. I probably froze in fear. I was absolutely terrified. I somehow, in my terrified state, ducked down and moved over to my little twin mattress that was in the middle of the room and basically got on it and just kind of cowered on that mattress. Anyways, as I was kind of cowering on my mattress while this thunderstorm was happening and this man was staring in the window at me, I laid there and all of a sudden I felt like what I can only express as a protective bubble surrounding me and that little twin mattress. This gave me a sense of calmness. It gave me a sense of security. I felt protection, and I felt perfectly at peace, like somebody was just wrapping their arms around that tiny little space that I was in right there on the floor. And it's something that I've never felt again. But something was protecting me. Something was protecting me from the storm. Something was protecting me from whoever the person or whatever was outside the window. Anyways, I think I probably just felt protected enough to go to sleep. I woke up the next morning, packed my belongings, and broke my lease. I was only there for about four days, but I never went back to that place again. After doing research on this house, I learned that it was built in 1898. It's still there. It's been restored. It looks beautiful online from what I can see. I hope the owners are happy, and I hope that nothing is scaring them or terrifying them. As bad as I was terrified while I was there, I also learned that just within a minute's walk down that street there is an old inn that is said to be haunted and has a presence of many ghosts. So maybe that was a ghost that wandered off from the inn and just decided to look into the window of the house during that thunderstorm. I don't know. Anyways, thank you for the podcast. Hey Derek, this is James from Texas. I was just listening to one of your episodes, things, one of the latest episodes and you were talking about the Sig free Humanoids, I believe they were called. Something similar to that that I heard of a while back was whenever I was in forestry school in East Texas. We would have to go on trips and meet with loggers who actually did like the cutting of the forests and

you know, harvesting the timber and such.

And few times, yeah, we got to stay there and kind of just hang out with them. And a couple of them brought up some similar type of sightings that you were mentioning. They called them the Long Men. And was interesting was that, you know, we met with several different loggers and logging companies and they all called them the same thing. So obviously it's a trade. You know, they just call this person this one. They kind of like the Tommyknockers, you know. But they said that when they're in the thicket because East Texas is extremely dense and it's called the Big Thicket for a reason. I mean, it's just so dense and thick. But they're out there doing logging and usually they're by themselves or they have a very small team. And they mentioned that the Long man was a creature or whatever, usually say 7 to 8 foot tall, extremely thin, long proportions like long arms. But what really struck me was the head that you described, because all of them would say the same thing and say that the head was almost like a pencil. You know, it's really thin, really long,

and it came to almost like a

point at the jaw or the bottom. So I just thought that was interesting whenever you mentioned that. And it brought back memories of that Long man conversation with those loggers in East Texas. I don't know if it's a wood spirit, maybe, you know, maybe it's an elemental and it's a wood spirit and that's why it's really only seen in those kind of conditions. Or maybe it's a new cryptid, maybe it's like a walking stick man or something like that. So anyway, I wanted to share that with you, but appreciate the podcast.

This is Amy from Las Cruces, New Mexico, and I have a small story. And I was just listening to season 19, episode 35 and you were talking about the color red and you talked about UFOs. Orange and red are the colors most often associated with the phenomena. And I have a short but strange story. My house faces east towards the Oregon mountains. And from where my house is situated, I can see the lights of the city at night. And it's very pretty. And one night I was looking out my bedroom window towards the mountains and over the city, I saw these three orange globes. And it was just very curious because they weren't aircraft. I know what aircraft look like and they usually have red and blue lights on them. And I thought at first, well, maybe it's an aircraft turning. I don't know if there was some sort of a military exercise, but the orbs just hung over the city in the same spot. And I started just watching them and wondering, what the heck is that? And all of a sudden the orbs just kind of merged into one orb. There were three in a row and they all merged together and then just disappeared. And I didn't know what the heck that was. I never heard any engine noise and I did have my windows open. But I just wanted to call in and share my story. I really love your podcast and take care.

Thanks, Amy. Now, my first thought here would be Chinese lanterns, but then again, I'm not so sure that they would find one another up in the air. I wouldn't say that. They tend to merge together in the sky, so perhaps we can rule that out. But what does that leave us with? I sure can't tell you. But I can tell you that other people have seemed to have seen the exact same thing. On July 12, 2017, a witness viewed four illuminated fireballs flying consecutively in a horizontal pattern over the Oregon Mountains. On April 25, 2019, another witness saw three orange, red or yellow fireball like orbs floating in front of those same Oregon mountains. And on August 12, 2019, two separate parties witnessed lights above the Oregon mountains. One witness stating, I saw a small light become brighter. And as it did, another and another, and another. A total of five lights above the Oregon mountains in a straight line. Then it was gone. A few minutes later, it happened again in a different spot in the sky. And finally, on January 17, 2020, more yellowish orange lights were seen hovering over those exact same mountains. Now, these reports were all made to new Fork and can be read in full by visiting the show notes. But before you go getting too excited, there might be an explanation as to why these lights are seen. One that might be more terrifying than if it were aliens themselves. Some 30 to 40 miles past the Oregon Mountains lies a stretch of land known as the White Sands Missile Range. This According to the Army's website, White Sands Missile Range is the premier military test range in America, earning its title as the birthplace of America's missile and space activity. Comprised of 3200 square miles, white Sands Missile Range supports the Army, Navy and Air Force, as well as commercial and international users, while conducting more than 3,000 tests annually. This testing range is only about 50 miles from Las Cruces. Is it possible that these witnesses have seen activity from that testing range? Perhaps they misjudged the distance, wrongly, assuming the activity was taking place above the mountain. Or is this activity separate its own thing? Las Cruces is a very old place. 10,000 years or so have continued human habitation. So is it possible that something came back for a visit? Just super crazy time. Just getting out of college, newly married, and just a lot of stress, a lot of anxiety, a lot of that kind of thing. Anyways, so one night I was just like, so fed up and I was just, you know, having multiple panic attacks a day and just kind of broken. Anyways, decided to go for a drive. I like to do that, kind of calm me down, listen to music, that kind of thing. So I was driving around and I. I don't know if I was just not paying attention, but I almost slammed into the back of his car and it kind of jolted me out of

my stupor, I guess.

I was off in my own world. And yeah, I looked down and the license plate just says persevere. And I just remember that being like, holy cow, what in the world was that? I was kind of blown away. And I'm a Christian, so I believe in God, believe in Jesus. I don't know if I believe in guardian angels, but that was just something that, like, I knew I needed to hear in that moment, that I just needed to persevere and that everything would be alright. Haven't had, you know, too many paranormal experiences though. I do believe in the paranormal, but that was something that I'll never forget. Just blew me away. It was like exactly what I needed

Hi, my name is Jason and I'm from the Central Valley in California. This occurred about 25 years ago. I was around 12 years old and, you know, at the time, me and my friends were heavily into, I guess you can say the occult, Ouija boards, trying to make my dog levitate, all sorts of stuff like that. But anyways, we're at my friend's house and he had a Ouija board that he made himself. And we all decided, okay, we'll, we'll play with that. And you know, we were around it, we were doing our thing and it was, you know, coming up with different words and whatnot. And I decided that I'll see if this thing really works. So I stood up, took a step away from the Ouija board while my friends were still around it. And I started asking questions for it to answer. So I asked if anything is there. And of course it went to yes. And I asked if it's somebody here that I know personally. And it went, yes. And only thing I think in my mind is about a year or so before that my grandmother passed away. And so I asked, are you my grandmother? And it went, yes. I'm like, okay. I decided to ask a question that only me and my immediate family knew. No way my friends here with me at my friend's house would know, you know, what the answer to this question will be. So I asked, okay, if you're my grandmother, what is the nickname that we gave you? And the cursor they were using went to M, then A, then C, and it stopped. Mac. That was the nickname that we had for her. And I was pretty blown away. My friends at that point, they were kind of freaking out a little bit because of course, we're all 12 years old, and this is basically the first time that the use of Ouija boards actually worked like it's supposed to. So I'm like, okay, if you're really my grandmother, you and you're here, can you do something else for us? And lo and behold, there was a pencil on a desk next to where we were doing the Ouija board, and the pencil amazingly stood up and then laid back down. And when that happened, everybody just freaked out, ran out of the room, and that was the end of that experience. About 10 years after that, this was about six years ago, I was living in the UK in the south coast of England, and I was there with my then X one night and began to knock on the door, and it's our next door neighbor. And she said she has Gypsy there with her today doing fortune telling. If, you know, we wanted to have our tarot cards read, you know, we can come over and have that done, right? Okay, sounds like fun. So we went over there. I went first. I gave the gypsy some money, and she decided reading my cards, and the first thing she said was, you have somebody with you. Somebody's always with you, like a guardian angel. And it's somebody that you knew, a family member that passed away years ago. And I just connected the dots from my experience as a child that this is my grandmother and that she's just. The whole time has been looking over me. But anyways, that's my story. Hello, Derek, I'm a longtime listener. I'd like to remain anonymous. I'm calling in regards to season 17, episode six of the Guardian Angel. I'm sorry, this really hits here. My son is also type 1 diabetic and had a near death experience. And as he was going dka, which is organ failure, his guardian angels kept telling him not to fall asleep, to stay awake, that he had to stay awake. And he kept saying to me, dad, they're telling me to stay awake. I can't go to sleep. They're telling me to stay awake. And he ended up in the ICU for a week in the children's icu. He did make a full recovery. He wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for his guardian angels telling him to stay awake because if he would have fell asleep, he would have passed away right there.

Hey, Derek and Sarah. This is Bryce from Williamsburg, Virginia. My story actually takes place in Mobile, Alabama. My father not retired, but he was in the military for a long time. So we've lived in a lot of places. Mobile is definitely the scariest. I have an older sister and I don't quite remember all of this. Like I remember the house. Yeah, and I remember like being there, but they never shared all the paranormal stuff that happened there with me. A lot of this is my sister and my dad, what they've told me, but they won't call into the podcast. They just subscribe to your Patreon and listen all the time and tell me to call them when they want me to. So what had happened basically was it all started when we moved to this house in Mobile. We only lived there for like seven months. It was pretty fast. How quickly my family wanted to get out of there. So my sister was with my mom and my sister just casually says, mommy, who's that little boy dressed in old clothes at the driveway? And my Mom's like, what do you mean? Like, what does he look like? And she's just like, it's just some little boy dressed in old clothes. Clothes. I mean, she was pretty young at the time, maybe like seven or eight. So she didn't really understand. And she's pretty susceptible to that stuff back then, as kids are. And my mom was pretty spooked, but they went about their day and my mom told my dad, of course. And my dad was like, that's kind of weird. Like, I have heard some stuff around the house, but nothing crazy. And then my mom claims that my sister used to talk to somebody occasionally. But my sister doesn't have any memory of that. I've asked her, but my mom does say that she, like, be in her closet or in her room, and she would talk to somebody and say that she was just talking to the little boy. And then my dad actually, what happened to him, which made him believe in the spookiness of this house, was he sees this little kid come to the door of his bedroom and he just gets kind of mad. He thinks it's Riley trying to stay awake past her bedtime. And he's just looking at this person at the doorway, and then it runs across the bed. He just sees its head, like, above the bed frame just run across the feet of his bed. And he's like, riley, go to sleep. And nothing happens. And so he gets up to go put my sister back to bed. When he looks around, my sister's not in there, and he goes and checks her room and my sister's asleep. And so this kind of spooked him. And so a couple of days later, he decided to put, like, an old school recording device. And he set that up in, I believe, the kitchen of the house. Actually, to this day, he refuses to tell any of our family what was on that recording. Like, my dad, like, military guy. Like, I've never seen him scared of anything in my entire life. But when he talks about the recording or I try to get it out of him, like, he can't talk about it. It scares him immensely. The only thing that he would tell me is that he heard voices and people saying that they were going to hunt our family and stuff like that. It was enough to make my father, military man, move out of this house that we only had to live in for another year. It got him pretty bad. And, I mean, he says he still has the recording and that when he feels comfortable, he'll let me listen to it. But if I can get that from him, I'LL definitely email that to you. Hey Derek, My name is Sean, calling from Erie, Pennsylvania. Listening to season 13 episode 9 Dave from Washington's Story. Just listening to his story and a couple of the events he described happening at his house. It was kind of eerie to me because I had very similar events happen at an old house upon mine probably 10 years ago. We lived in a house where the backyard bordered a cemetery. Along the whole length of the backyard we had a couple weird things happen in the house. Nothing crazy, but one situation was almost exactly as he described where I was sitting in the living room alone at night. I just gotten off of work. It was close to midnight and all the lights were out and I was watching tv. It was the Sopranos to be exact. It was recorded and sitting on the couch and the remote's about a foot away from me. And all of a sudden, as I'm sitting there, the show pauses and then it starts paging through the menus of the satellite. And then it's selected from the menu. And then it paged through again through the menu and selected another sub menu and just sat on that page. And it didn't seem like it was anything of significance or anything. It was just weird. So I thought it was kind of odd. So I picked up the remote and I turned the show back on and sat the remote down next to me once again, you know, a foot away or whatever. Kept watching the show. About 30 seconds or a minute later, the TV just turns off completely. And so I was kind of freaked out by it. So I grabbed the remote, turned the TV back on, started watching, and I just kind of said, stop it out loud. Just kind of joking around and nothing happened again, but just thought it was odd and kind of paralleled his story. But also, as he went on with his story, he was talking about tortillas on the top of his fridge falling off. One other time at our house, my wife and I were in the living room watching tv. And in the kitchen, there was just a loud crash, loud bang, and we had no idea what it was. So I got to the kitchen, and it was a decent sized kitchen, probably 20ft by, you know, 10ft, 12ft. So there was some space between the cabinets on the wall in the center of the room. But when I got to the kitchen, in the center of the room is a glass bowl, like, laying down, not broken, totally intact, that had fallen from one of the upper cabinets. I would say it was probably 15ft away from the cabinet that it had fallen out of. And the weird thing was that all of the cabinet doors were shut. And I just have always had a hard time explaining how that would have happened. But I thought it was interesting because it kind of mirrored a lot of Dave's story. We don't live at that house any longer and haven't really had a lot happen to us since then. Keep up the good work, Derek. Thanks.

Thank you, Sean. Now, anytime I hear a story involving a possibly haunted television, I always go back to a core childhood memory. Season one, episode seven of Unsolved Mysteries, which aired on November 23, 1988. And the segment in question, too, took place in the state of Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia. To be specific, in a tavern that used to exist there called the General Wayne Inn. Reports there include a ghostly Hessian soldier, a decapitated head, a staircase apparition and a strangely behaving television. One night during a local newscast Halloween story on the inn, a number of

regular patrons gathered in the bar to watch.

As soon as he showed the first scene of the inside of this building, the whole no flop over now, no snow, perfect picture. The whole picture started to go very, very slowly clockwise all the way around and all the 50 people in the bar were looking at this and wondering what was going on and their heads are all turning and the whole thing just kept going around until our portion was over. But it never did that before and I never did it afterwards, and no one else in the whole neighborhood had it that way.

Hi. For the sake of this one, you can call me Indy. So this starts in the 90s, and I hadn't remembered it until recently when I was listening to your podcast. So it was probably 1992, 93, summertime. I know it's probably about 11 or 12 at the time. My dad had taken myself, my cousin, one of his buddies and his daughter and we went camping up in Mount Palomar, which is located in California, around like the San Diego Carlsbad area. And there's an observatory up there. So we spent the day, we hiked up there. Now that night we were all just goofing around having a campfire and it was a beautiful night, just a clear, beautiful night. My dad was really into stargazing, UFOs, that type of stuff. So he had us lay down on our campfield. We had a very good view of the sky. So we're laying down looking up and all of a Sudden, we started seeing a bunch of shooting stars, or at least what we thought were shooting stars. And why I say that is because they started changing directions. So we watched for about a good two hours, these shooting stars, but they were going every which way and direction. They were going up, down, left, right. They were banking off of each other. It almost looked like it was seen out of Star wars, like if there was, like, some type of galactic fighting going on out in space. And it was probably one of the most amazing things that we'd ever seen because we never actually got confirmation on what it was. And it wasn't like there was one or two. There was probably, I'd say, about 50 to 60 of these things going on all at one time. And it was something that just had stuck with me for a little while. I would tell people, people would say, oh, you're crazy. You don't know what you're talking about. But my dad was a big UFO believer and stuff. So he was telling us, oh, it's probably something extraterrestrial or something along those lines. After hearing people telling me I was crazy, whatever, never thought about it again, never talked about it, never brought it up, nothing. It wasn't until 2005, I think it was Torrance, California, there was an EMT class that I was taking. And for whatever reason, the teacher that we had, he was an older gentleman. He had been a paramedic for most of his life. So I guess at the time, he was probably well into his 50s, and I'm 24 now, and one day in class, he just started talking about all these experiences that he's had with UFOs and extraterrestrials, and he worked for the government, and just all these elaborate stories. And again, I wasn't the UFO believer that was my dad, but his stories were fascinating. He was a really good storyteller. So we would listen in class or whatever, and it wasn't until one day he brought in a T. And he said that he had got it from one of his friends from NASA and that he wasn't actually supposed to have it, but he did. And so he puts the tape in, and he says, this tape was recorded back in the 90s somewhere along San Diego, because San Diego does have an Air Force base. It has a Marine base, Navy. So San Diego is heavily military down there. So he plays the video in class. And to my surprise, it was exactly what I had seen that day that I went camping with my dad, my cousin and his friends. I mean, to the T, everything from these Balls of light just pinging off of each other, just back and forth. It literally looked like a scene out of Star wars about the explosions of just, like, fighting. Like, they would run into each other and then they would shoot up and then they'd go left, right, up, down, just banking off of everything. They would be really sad, zoom, and just stop, and then zoom again. Stop. And he had footage, hours and hours of this. And the fact that he said it was somewhere in San Diego, that it was filmed, and the fact that it happened in the 90s was just shocking. And it actually helped confirm that I wasn't crazy that night, that I had seen what I seen. And here it is, 10 years later, an actual video of what I had saw. To this day, we still don't know what it is. He couldn't specify or tell me what it was. He couldn't give me any more details besides what he's shown, because, again, he wasn't supposed to have this video. But, yeah. So what was crazy was I wanted to tell us story. I kept thinking, what's a good story? I could tell. And it wasn't until I was listening one of your podcasts. They were talking about aliens and things like that. And again, it'd been 20 years since I even thought about this story. And I was like, this is going to be a good one. So thank you and love your show and great job. Bye.

You know, Palomar Mountain is on the western end of the Borrego Triangle, a triangle that my partner in crime, David Flora and I coined a few years back based on all the strange activity that takes place there. Bigfoot sightings, Cryptid sightings, spook lights, ghosts, UFOs, and even strange military involvement. We even made a documentary about it. It's called Shadows in the Desert. High Strangeness in the Borrego Triangle. You can watch it for free on Tubi or Amazon prime if you have it. So you can say, I'm not shocked at all that you saw something strange in the skies down there. Indy. People report that sort of thing all the time, but I will play devil's advocate here. Indy said it was summertime. Well, it just so happens that every August, an event known as the Persed meteor shower occurs, allowing stargazers to see 500 or so shooting stars per hour. This event is visible. Now, if you're listening, when this drops, August of 26. So go outside and take a look. But you know, one of the best places to view this sort of activity just so happens to be the exact location Indy's family decided to camp that night. Palomar Mountain, it's so good, in fact, the Caltech has built an observatory up there. Three massive telescopes trained on the sky. But did the activity that Indy described sound like a meteor shower? I'm not so certain that it did, but I'll let you folks make the call on this one. But do keep in mind the Borrego Triangle is one of the strangest places in the world, so I wouldn't rule anything out. Thanks again, Indy, for sharing your adventure here with us. Hey Derek, this is Em from Texas. I'm just calling to talk about a couple spooky stories. I've always been pretty sensitive, and for whatever reason, it always happens at work when I least expect it. So I was working at a Starbucks here in town and I've always been pretty sensitive and I've been having a hard time distinguishing like just my anxiety or if I'm, you know, feeling something.

So at this job I would go

[Em]

to the bathroom and like sob basically every day for like five to 10 minutes. Or I'd have like panic attacks, which wasn't very normal, you know, that's not a daily occurrence for me to just sob or have panic attacks, but I was just overcome with like overwhelming sadness and panic. Anyways, I'm working at the bar at Starbucks and I walk to the back to grab some chirrup and I see this guy I've never seen before. I'm pretty sure I'm like 5:2, and he's standing there right next to me, looking at me. Normal looking guy, look like a corporeal human. And he doesn't say anything, I'm just looking at him. I've never seen him before. And I come back out and I'm like, hey, is this a new guy? Like, who is this back there? I've never seen this man in my life. Everyone was like, I don't see anyone. You're just crazy. And I was like, okay, whatever. And then my manager, who I was pretty good friends with at the time, pulls me aside and was like, hey, I think you saw our goat, because it's really haunted here. And I was like, no way, no way. And she was like, yeah, there was this young man who was killed in a drive by behind our Starbucks, by a club. And before this was a Starbucks, it was like a KFC or something. And he managed to get himself to the drive through and passed away in the drive through. Like, he walked to get help and he passed away. And I was like, I don't believe this. So I looked it up and lo and behold, I found an article that talked about the incident that happened like 10 years ago now, maybe more.

But I saw the picture of the

man who had, you know, passed, and that was him, like 100% him. And then once I found that out, I was still having the anxiety, but I was able to, you know, distinguish, like, what I was feeling. But it was most definitely him. And he just looked normal. He looked clean and like he was just a normal guy standing in the back where, like, customers can't get to.

It was just really weird.

But M here raises a good question. Is it possible that there are other haunted Starbucks out there in existence? Well, as it turns out, there are a couple. The Starbucks at Pikes Peak Market in Seattle, Washington, is said to be haunted. Reports include phantom footsteps, disembodied voices, and a basement said to fill you with dread. Then there's the Carbrook Hall Starbucks in Sheffield, England. Employees report shadowy figures, heavy bootstraps, voices in empty rooms, and objects that move on their own. And though it's not a haunting per se, it is worth a mention. The Starbucks on Parmer Lane in Austin, Texas, played host to a public exorcism back in 2014. There's a full video of the event in tonight's show notes. But none of those locations can claim to be the most haunted coffee shop in the world. Apparently, that title goes to a small shop in a famous town known for an infamous double murder. A warning. There is mention of violence towards children in the following clip.

Maple Crop latte This now eclectic coffee shop was once home to Lodwick and Eliza Borden. Lodwick was the great uncle to Lizzie Borden and was married to Eliza Darlingborn. They had three children back to back, which some speculate may have led to the heartbreaking tragedy that occurred in this home.

She had taken two of her three children to the basement. Her, the oldest survived and she had drowned them in the cistern or the well. And then she had slit her own throat with her husband's straight razor.

Just watch a step in this cellar. Below the coffee shop is where the murder suicide occurred. And according to the staff and some patrons, these are some offerings people leave for the children. Strange things have been reported.

The first time I think we were using it as a stock room and I had gone down there and I was just like, it's creepy down.

It's.

It's just creepy. Yeah, creepy vibe. There was one time this was the weirdest thing I'd ever seen. There was a cookie tray on one of the shelves, but this cookie tray, I swear to God, hovered out of the closet and then like fell. It was the weirdest thing. My boyfriend and I were like, all right.

In fact, they've had to close off the basement to visitors due to paranormal activity.

It might have moved buildings though, actually, which I guess could call into question its claim of being the most haunted coffee house in the world. Hi Derek, this is Kelly calling from Tampa, Florida. This is when I I was living in my old house. I was in my bathroom one evening and my vanity had a very narrow shelf right beneath the mirror. The shelf was maybe 12 inches wide and 3 inches deep. It was so small that I could only keep a couple of toiletries on it because there just wasn't enough room. Well, one thing I knew for sure, but I left my contact lens lens case on that shelf and when I went to look for it later, I couldn't find it. There were a couple of other items on this little shelf and I was so confused that I ended up taking every single thing off the shelf and none of them was my contact lens case. I ran my hand back and forth over the entire surface of the shelf three or four times to make sure I wasn't completely losing my mind. I checked that the contact lens case was not reflected in the mirror above the vanity where it should have been visible, and I even got down on eye level with the shelf to make sure that I wasn't missing anything. And I looked all over the bathroom and that contact lens case was nowhere to be found. I was completely dumbfounded. But as I went to leave the bathroom bathroom I glanced over my shoulder at the vanity shelf and I'll be darned if that contact lens case wasn't sitting right in the middle of it all by itself. I was so surprised that I literally staggered backwards and had to go back to the shelf and pick up the case for myself to make sure it was actually real. Anyway, I'm a relatively new listener to this show, but thought you might find this interesting. Maybe I'll call back another time with a different story. Cheers.

Hey Derek, My name is Brett and I'm from San Antonio, Texas. Last year my grandmother got cancer and unfortunately she passed away in July. Her death has hit all of us very, very hard. And you know, in her final days I always told my fiance I hope she haunts me after she dies because I'm going to miss her so much. Well, November 15th I experienced a dream and it was incredibly peaceful and incredibly vivid. I found myself in the master bedroom of her house in Rockwall, outside of Dallas. You know we grew up with a lot of memories in this house. A lot of Christmases, a lot of Thanksgivings. And I found myself all of a sudden standing in her master bedroom. The only thing that was missing was furniture. It was an empty house, like it just been moved out. But all the doors, all the shelves, everything was in place. To the left of her master bedroom was the sun room. And that's a room with a lot of windows. Very common.
