Danielle Busby
Of people think that, like, I'm just like Kate to you.
Adam Busby
Kate Gosselin.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. From the show. In that.
Adam Busby
Yeah. It's like very much so editing, but.
Danielle Busby
Even like social media.
Adam Busby
I think we've been at fights before. Every now and then, couples fight, obviously. And every now and then I'll call you Kate just to get under your skin. Okay, Kate. Okay. Be real. Do you have a favorite child?

Regain Couples Therapy
Welcome to More Than Reality with Adam and Danielle Busby.
Adam Busby
Welcome.
Danielle Busby
Selfie time.
Adam Busby
Yeah, Danielle's taking selfies in the intro. Welcome to More Than reality podcast episode 34. And the last few episodes, I feel like, have got like tooken token real, have taken like a turn and so got a little bit serious, a little bit emotional, stuff like that. So we're like, let's do one that's a little bit more fun and light hearted. I don't know, we may end up going that way. Seems like all of our podcasts end up due, so we'll see how it goes.
Danielle Busby
Because we're real. We're more than reality.
Adam Busby
This is episode 34. I don't know, we just like to end up getting serious or emotional and stuff. I mean, get all up in the fields emotional the way I want us to.
Danielle Busby
Emotional meaning like tear and cry and then mess up your makeup and then you got a snotty nose and you're gonna get a headache.
Adam Busby
Feels good to cry every now and then.
Danielle Busby
It does, it does. So what's up?
Adam Busby
This week's been a blur for me.
Danielle Busby
Same here. Well, it's just been, like a week of you, like, a lot of travel and stuff, but the kids and, like, there's just so much happening day to day this week because it's like the last week of school and it's like activity, activity, activity. A school thing. A school thing. A school thing.
Adam Busby
Like awards banquets and class parties and end of the year stuff and just.
Danielle Busby
So much back and forth.
Adam Busby
And Blake had two, like, award ceremonies just this week.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. And then we. Yeah. But I will say I did find time to start decluttering upstairs to get the carpet clean, which I'm super excited about today because our carpet upstairs. Don't forget we have quintuplets.
Adam Busby
Our house was somewhat at a point where it was, like, borderline. We kind of needed new carpet even whenever we bought the house. But I'm like, no three, three year olds moving into a new house. No. We're not changing the carpets until they're, like, old enough to not smear makeup into the carpet and, like, play with slime upstairs and stuff like that. So I just refuse. We're not. We're not putting new carpets up there until they're.
Danielle Busby
Remember that day that they brought a towel upstairs one morning and put paint. Brought the paint, but they put a towel down like a beach child because they know they're not supposed to have that upstairs. And it's still steel. Got all over the floor. Remember that?
Adam Busby
Of course.
Danielle Busby
So we have stains from that. Like, the carpet's getting clean today and I'm super excited about it.
Adam Busby
I'll be curious to see what all comes out same. Hopefully that's some really hot steam.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
Hand shampoo and not very hopeful.
Danielle Busby
Anyway, today's episode's gonna be fun. We're gonna do kind of like blind Q and A. So we usually do those cards, but we're going to do like an episode of. I have, like, these list of questions, but we're not going to read them until it's time to ask the question because Adam wants to pre read them and I'm like, no, because then you already know what the questions are going to be and do a little bit of banter and stuff. But I thought it was fun to just ask some fun questions and see what comes up. You never know what Adam's going to say when it comes, if it's going to be real or if it's going to be sarcasm, so we'll see. It's about. Could be a mix of, like, marriage, family, parenting, fate, like, all the things just life.
Adam Busby
Smoking meat.
Danielle Busby
Smoking meat. That was last episode. Was that last episode.
Adam Busby
Yeah, I think so.
Danielle Busby
I still. I'm still laughing about that. Like, where you said one thing that you wish I cared more about. Something that you care about that I care about. And you were like, smoking me still, like, no.
Adam Busby
I don't know.
Danielle Busby
Babe, what's the meat temperature today? What's the meat?
Adam Busby
I don't want to be the only one in the house excited about it other than just like, oh, it's ready.
Danielle Busby
That's exciting. That part right there. I don't want to do all day just trying to cook meat all day.
Adam Busby
A lot of work goes into it.
Danielle Busby
I know.
Adam Busby
It's an art.
Danielle Busby
Well, I'm glad you have that for you. That's your time.
Adam Busby
Actually bought a new cook, kind of like a grilling, smoking, like, cookbook this week from Matt Grork. I pre ordered it. It's a buddy of mine that, like, I know from my Instagram and just, like, cooking content and we talk back and forth every now and then. But he's got a new cookbook coming out and it's really cool because he's been, like, talking about it this whole week and he's super excited about it. He incorporated a lot of stuff with their family and stuff in it, and his wife took all the photos and it's just kind of been a labor of love and. So cute. I told him. I was like, I ordered one. I didn't ask for you to send me one for free, but. Because a lot of people just will. But, like, I reached out to him first. I'm like, hey, I'm buying it. Before he even had the chance to say he'd send me one. Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. Can't wait to see it.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So summer is approaching and, like, basically today is like the last day of school. Tomorrow's half day, and so we.
Adam Busby
And then.
Danielle Busby
Then what?
Adam Busby
And then what?
Danielle Busby
Today's 100. Then we go out of town for a little summer kickoff.
Adam Busby
We have a Friday. Friday night we have this, like, gala in Nashville at the Gaylord.
Danielle Busby
I totally forgot we have to go to Nashville.
Adam Busby
And then we were. We were going to be staying a night in Nashville and then going to Indianapolis early Saturday morning. But now I think we're going to go to the gala and then just drive straight to Indianapolis Friday night. So we're wake up In Indianapolis, for all the stuff going on. We got a bunch of people coming in, standard or suite kind of showing around, like a bunch of like driver interaction stuff and museum stuff and just different things around the track on Saturday and then obviously Sunday just.
Danielle Busby
And I still don't know what I'm gonna wear last.
Adam Busby
This past weekend was like, crazy. I was up there for qualifying. Our driver, Scott McLaughlin, drives a yellow Pennzoil yellow submarine. And I mean, he was doing awesome. His car was dialed in, got all the way through first round of qualifying, so he made it into the top 12. And then Sunday morning they had like a practice session that is immediately before they're like top 12 qualifying. So Indy 500, there's like 34 drivers, 34 drivers that are competing to actually race in the race. Eventually, one person is going to get bumped because their car is not fast enough. And so Saturday, they whittle all the cars down, everybody qualifies, and they lock in position 13 through 30. And those people just wherever their times are, they're 13 through 30. Then the next day, it's the fastest 12 cars go through another, like, all their scores and everything go out the window. And then they're qualifying again for the fastest 12, and they're trying to get the fastest six out of that 12. So then position seven through 12 get locked in, and then they have another round. All those. All those numbers go out the window. Then it's one through six, they do it again. And then that gets like the first. First two rows in order. But Scott, it was heartbreaking because he had the. He had just recorded it was going around in practice. And they're. They're just trying. They're just obviously going as fast as they can, trying to get the cars dialed in, getting ready for fast 12. And he had just recorded the fastest time in practice. Like, he was the top car out there, top driver out there. And I was down. I was taking photos at the time, and I was in turn one, and I was just catching him as he came around the front stretch, turning into turn one and coming at me. And then they'd fly by. And I was just taking a sequence of photos as he was coming through and coming right at me. And he had just recorded fastest speed. He blew by me and then I just heard boom. And I turned around and looked and his car was just in pieces. Just. He lost control, lost traction. And I mean, it was a bad, scary wreck. Luckily he walked away from it, but the car was toast. And so they had to, like, he didn't make the he didn't make the top 12 qualifying because he just didn't have a car because literally it was within like three hours. There's no way they could have built a whole new car in three hours ready to compete with the fastest 12.
Danielle Busby
Cars for the race.
Adam Busby
There was a bunch of other drama that happened with the other Penske cars and some modifications and stuff that didn't pass inspections. So he ended up getting bumped from 12 to 10. So he's going to be starting in position 10. So he'll be in the this is.

Adam Busby
In the fourth row starting the Indy 500. So hopefully this week they have his car fine tune like it like the last one was and he's ready to compete because if he, if, if his car was as fast as it was that morning, he has a really good potential to win it. But who knows. It's Indy 500 and a lot of crazy stuff stuff happens. We'll see. It could be a very exciting day. Could just be like any other 500, but we'll see. Yeah, it'll be fun. I know that. And it'll be Daniel's first. And it's a sold out grandstands are completely sold out. It's the first Indy 500 with a sellout crowd since 2016. So it'll be well over probably close to 400,000 people if not more there. All the grandstands are sold out plus and then they also will sell seats or not just seat just passes to get into the infill and people can sit out on the grass and stuff like that. So you can fit a lot of people in there. So who knows how many, but it'll be a lot of people.
Danielle Busby
A lot of people. I'm glad the kids are not going this time.
Adam Busby
Yeah, I mean I've been to a few Indy 500s and I just don't wanna, don't wanna deal with six kids. Trying to fight crowds with six kids.
Danielle Busby
No thank you.
Adam Busby
Maybe one or two wouldn't be as bad, but six, that's a lot.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
So just me and mom. So before we get into the topic for today, we're going to tell you a little bit about our sponsor. Today our sponsor is Cozy Earth. And whenever we. So how all this works, peel back behind the curtain. You know, whenever we're looking at sponsors and stuff like our agency will bring us stuff. And it's if it's either stuff that we've used, stuff that we want to use or, or just stuff that we like, we pass on a lot of stuff. But Cozy Earth we are super excited about. Cause we've tried it, we love it. And so it was like, it was like a complete no brainer to us. And so we love the product. We love man. Don't want to get out of bed. Like the sheets, the sheets are just so soft. Like a silky soft, like bamboo breathable.
Danielle Busby
Filling material but not like cold. Like they still feel like super soft sheets but they keep you cool.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
But then they're like silky soft but they're not silk. Yeah, these sheets are amazing as well as the PJs, the loungewears that, that they offer. You know, their, their mission is to like transform like that 5 to 9 to like make it the most comfortable and cozy part of your day. And let me tell you, there is not a day that I don't think about. I just want to get in my bed.
Adam Busby
Yeah. So if you're just, if you're even just toying around with and thinking about trying a product, try out the sheets. You get a hundred night sleep guarantee. So you can try them out for a hundred nights. Which I don't think you'll be returning those once you try them. But you got 100 nights to try them out and give them a test drive. Use the code more than for 40% off of your cozy earth anything@cozyearth.com that's right. So go to cozyearth.com where sanctuary awaits at Cozy Earth. Yep. So now we'll get back.
Danielle Busby
Thanks Cozy Earth.
Adam Busby
Oh yeah. Thank you Cozy Earth.
Danielle Busby
Thank you Cozy Earth for sponsoring this podcast.
Adam Busby
All right, so we'll get back to the topic today.
Danielle Busby
There's actually lots of topics because we're doing a Q A.
Adam Busby
There's lots of them.
Danielle Busby
Well, yeah, because each question's like a topic.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
So I'm going first. I'm gonna ask you first pick a number one.
Adam Busby
It's almost like this whole episode is kind of like a connect card, but they're just fun.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So Hopefully I have 10 questions here, and so I'm gonna ask you pick a number one through 10, and that's what I'm gonna read.
Adam Busby
Oh, really?
Danielle Busby
That's what I'm gonna do right now.
Adam Busby
So, like, I hold my fate. So I'm giving you a number.
Danielle Busby
Mm. One through ten.
Adam Busby
Seven.
Danielle Busby
What's your favorite dad joke moment that the girls just rolled their eyes at? Do you have a dad joke?
Adam Busby
I always just have, like, such sarcastic, random thoughts. I remember actually looking back, I don't know. All the girls usually like my dad jokes, though.
Danielle Busby
Do you have one right now?
Adam Busby
I can't think. I'm having brain fog right now. But I remember, like, multiple episodes on the TV show. Like, it's usually, like, in the car whenever we're just having conversations with the kids. And, like, just one randomly will come to mind. And. But it's funny because, like, that's all filmed and so you can, like, see the kids reaction, like, in real time, like, whenever I say it.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
And so, yeah, I can't think of a dad joke right now.
Danielle Busby
Okay, well, that was lame.
Adam Busby
I mean, this is what happens whenever you put me on the spot. So that's why I want it.
Danielle Busby
It's okay. I'm gonna go to the next one. Finish this sentence.
Adam Busby
Me. You're doing two on me.
Danielle Busby
That wasn't a good answer. We're making this up as we go today. Finish the statement sentence. Danielle's superpower is sleeping. Oh, I love it. I do love sleep. Because you know why?
Adam Busby
It goes in my cozy hurts. It's probably not her superpower.

Danielle Busby
Make myself go to sleep, though.
Adam Busby
You kind of do. You struggle getting to sleep, but whenever you do, you don't want to wake up. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because like me sleeping probably is one of my superpowers because I can sleep at any time through anything.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
It might be more my sleep superpower than yours.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So what's my.
Adam Busby
But I just wake up really early though. Like I'm an early riser.
Danielle Busby
So what would be my superpower? Just a badass.
Adam Busby
Working under pressure.
Danielle Busby
I feel like that should be a song. Under pressure. I think it is.
Adam Busby
All right.
Danielle Busby
Working well under pressure.
Adam Busby
Yeah, yeah. Like whenever it comes to like just like high pressure situations. I mean that's usually like whenever. I don't know. People probably don't like me whenever I'm in like high pressure situations because like, I get really quiet. Like I seclude myself when you become mean. And like, I'm just like super driven. Like, gotta get this done. Nobody like, nobody mess with me. Leave me alone.
Danielle Busby
Because your focus is gonna go like this.
Adam Busby
Yes, I get.
Danielle Busby
It's gonna fly away.
Adam Busby
I lose focus so fast and so I just have to lock myself away. So like I. I'm like a recluse whenever it comes to needing to get stuff done.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
But Daniel works great under pressure.
Danielle Busby
You're gonna ask me one of those questions. Number two.
Adam Busby
Number two.
Danielle Busby
Picked one.
Adam Busby
Okay. Be real. Do you have a favorite child today? Absolutely not today.
Danielle Busby
No. That's like I don't have a favorite child. They are all different and all have like different specialties. But I love all my children the same. That is a true statement. Looking at me like I need to change my answer.
Adam Busby
I'm like, no, I thought, I thought because I said today, today you might have a different answer.
Danielle Busby
Well, it hit me up in the summer when they're around 247 and we.
Adam Busby
I probably do need to like brag a little bit about Blake though, today.
Danielle Busby
Oh yeah.
Adam Busby
So today Blake had like her like it was probably more like the acid. Yeah. It was an academic types awards at school today.
Danielle Busby
So One's from the school, the teachers.
Adam Busby
And we got it. We got an email saying, hey, come to this award banquet. Your child's gonna receive an award. But they don't say, like, what it is or anything like that. You have no clue. And, you know, Blake does well in school. And so, I mean, she was like. Makes A's and B's and stuff like that. So we're like, oh, probably just, you know, AMB. Award. Like, typical thing. You sit there for close to two hours, and she walks up on stage once. And so it's long.
Danielle Busby
And there. The AC wasn't working. There was issues with that. Like, it just started late. It was a long day.
Adam Busby
But they do all these. All this list of awards. Like, I mean, how many kids are in Blake school?
Danielle Busby
I don't know. Just a lot.
Adam Busby
And it. It takes a while. But then they save this award for very last. It's like, they're like, award for character. All like, it. That. It. The. The kid that exemplifies all of the. The aspirations and standards and stuff of what they want a student to be at the school. Like, character, integrity, leadership, you know, all these things.
Danielle Busby
Respect.
Adam Busby
Yeah. Yeah. And. And Blake won the award.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
And we're like, man, that's like, they should have asked the parents to come up there. Cause that's, like. That's like a parent award. Super proud.
Danielle Busby
I mean, like, super proud to, like, her to get all A's and B's. Like, that's awesome. But, like, to get that award, to me was like, wow.
Adam Busby
Yeah, that probably matters. Said probably matters. It matters more than just, like, getting good grades.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. Because that shows that I feel like the Blake that we know want to raise her is the Blake that they're seeing. And so I love that. I love. I. And this was the very last award. And we're, like, hour and a half in, and we're, like, so ready to go. We're like, finally, we're at the end, and we didn't know we were going to get in there. Like, Blake Busby. And I'm like, oh, my God, my phone.
Adam Busby
Like, I didn't even know.
Danielle Busby
But, I mean, I know in my heart, but I didn't know that y' all saw yo she was gonna get an award for it. So I didn't really get any good pictures or a video or anything. And Adam's like, wait, what's this award for?
Adam Busby
Because I was, like, zoned out by the. We were, like, an hour and 45 minutes in.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
Like, gosh, when is this gonna end? It's hot in here. All of a sudden, you hear Blake's name.
Danielle Busby
Aren't you glad you didn't go to the bathroom at that point?
Adam Busby
I know. I had to go to the bathroom.
Danielle Busby
That was funny. But, yeah. So it's a good day. What a way to end and wrap up middle school.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
Getting that award.
Adam Busby
Super proud of that. That's what I was gonna think. Blake's your favorite today.
Danielle Busby
All right, Adam, what's one thing you swore you'd never do as a dad, but you totally do it now? Like, you're like, oh, my God, I'm never gonna do that as a dad, but then you do it.
Adam Busby
It's what I would never do as a dad.
Danielle Busby
Like, are there annoying dad things that you've seen done? You're like, oh, my God. I would never do that with. With my kids. But then you do it.
Adam Busby
Not really.
Danielle Busby
So you're just all around.
Adam Busby
I mean, I would probably have to say annoying things that you see. It would probably. It would probably involve sports, like, whenever.
Danielle Busby
Oh, my gosh. Yes. Yes.
Adam Busby
Like, I'm that dad.
Danielle Busby
You're the cheer mom, but you're the dad.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
And it doesn't matter if it's your kids or watching a friend's kids or a niece or nephew. You're that cheer mom dad.
Adam Busby
Especially, like, if I feel like I know, like, better than the coach or, like, I see something that, like, the ref or refs, like.
Danielle Busby
Wait, what did you just say? When I think I know better than the coach. That's pretty funny.
Adam Busby
Yeah. And so I'm just that very vocal dad. And it's probably mostly been for Blake, though.
Danielle Busby
No, babe, like, do you remember when we went to go watch Kyler play baseball, and you were so embarrassing because you're yelling at the ref and he almost kicked you out. I'm like, this isn't even our kid, and he's family. But, like, he's not hurt when referees.
Adam Busby
Like, totally blow a blatant call on the soccer field.
Danielle Busby
Oh, my gosh. Yeah.
Adam Busby
Yeah, I guess so.
Danielle Busby
And I've kind of been more surprised. I'm not surprised by, like, the focus of, like, get it right and do it the best kind of a thing, but, like, you're not a very, like, loud person.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
But when you are watching a sport, especially one of the. With kids in that we know that are playing, like, you're obnoxious.
Adam Busby
I get intense.
Danielle Busby
You get fired up. It's like, you know when Hayes. You know when Hazel gets mad?
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
Like, Hazel's sweetest.
Adam Busby
She goes from, like, 1 to an 11 and, like.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, and that's. That's you. She gets that from you. Like, there's no. When Adam's watching somebody play a game and he thinks he knows better than the coach, which he just said, it's like a hundred.
Adam Busby
Did you see that? Speaking of Hazel, did you see that thing this week? This lady that says that redheads are black?
Danielle Busby
Huh?
Adam Busby
She said all red.
Danielle Busby
What?
Adam Busby
I don't know. She said.
Danielle Busby
Did you read it? What did she say?
Adam Busby
She says all red.
Danielle Busby
That was just a comment.
Adam Busby
Anybody. Anybody in the world that has red hair is black.
Danielle Busby
What do you mean?
Adam Busby
Like, I don't know. It's confusing, but that's what she said. So I want to know right now how that happened.
Danielle Busby
It doesn't make sense. I don't understand the statement.
Adam Busby
It's. It was the most.
Danielle Busby
So it's like.
Adam Busby
It was the most random and weird thing. Like, I heard it on the radio coming home. They were like, just, you know, two DJs, they're just kind of talking about, like, topics of the day. And it was like they brought up this lady that was, like, on social media, talking about. And she. She made this comment saying that every redhead in the world is, like, black.
Danielle Busby
That's so weird.
Adam Busby
And so since then, I've seen like, five or six videos on social media about, like, like, black guys with their redhead friend. They're like, welcome to the team and, like, giving them their. Their black starter kit.
Danielle Busby
It's a. It says gingers are black trend on TikTok.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
Redheads are now the black people of white people. What? Well, I don't get it, but I.
Adam Busby
Don'T get it either. I don't know why she said that. I don't think there's any kind of evidence like that supports it. I don't know what. I don't know, but I thought it was funny.
Danielle Busby
As a ginger, I am very confused, but happy to be invited to the cookout.
Adam Busby
So I guess Hazel's got a little bit more streak red.
Danielle Busby
Oh, get it. Orange is the new black. Like the show.
Adam Busby
Is there a new season coming out or something? That's why she said it. No way. I don't think it has anything to do with that. That show has been off Air Force ever.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So I don't know. I didn't see that.
Adam Busby
Anyway. That was a tangent. Sorry. I chased it.
Danielle Busby
I said, hey, so that's where you went.
Adam Busby
I chased that rabbit. Sorry.
Danielle Busby
Samsung Galaxy S25 con. Galaxy.
Regain Couples Therapy
AI. Por quenta nuestra y quatro.
Adam Busby
I gotta ask you one.
Danielle Busby
Oh, yeah. This is so random.
Adam Busby
Oh, wait, I read that one. What's something people think about you from social media that isn't true?
Danielle Busby
A lot. I mean, a lot of people think that a lot of things. I think a lot of people think that, like, I'm just like Kate to you.
Adam Busby
Kate Gosselin.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. From the show in that.
Adam Busby
Yeah. It's like very much so editing, but.
Danielle Busby
Even like social media.
Adam Busby
I think we've been at fights before. Like every now and then couples fight, obviously. And every now and then I'll call you Kate just to get under your skin. Okay, Kate.
Danielle Busby
But it's more so that, like, I'm not enough said this behind the scenes filming and stuff is that, like, I get her aspect of like, the control of like a routine and you have to follow some type of schedule. But guess what? Adam's all on board for having a routine that I have to lead in a way because that's not his gifts. And if we didn't have any of that, we would be a total wreck house.
Adam Busby
Yeah. And I think a little bit of the like.
Danielle Busby
But I think because it's a lot of, like, they don't. People don't see, like, the inside of the humor and like the sarcasm. Like, even. Even on, like, if I comment on something that you comment and then I'll get like, hate off of my comment to you. Just being sarcastic. But you know what I'm saying, they don't. I'm like, well, then. Then you don't know us.
Adam Busby
I think, like, kind of peeling back the curtain a little bit just so, like in the TV show, there's a lot of things that Danielle and I agreed upon, like, parenting style. Like, we were like, like all that kind of stuff. We're on the same page probably 90% of the time, if not more. But filming a TV show, there has to be conflict. And so, you know, you have to have some sort of tension to keep a viewer intrigued. Intrigued and wanting to watch the show and see, like, what's going to happen next or what's going on and all this stuff. And so, like, there was so many of those conversations as we're filming the TV show because they would ask us, like, you know, if we're going through something with the kids or we're trying to make a decision as a family or.
Danielle Busby
And we're like, yeah, this is what we say. Like, what? Wait, that doesn't lead.
Adam Busby
Both of us will just like, say something. We're like, yeah, yeah, like, we. We agree. And they're like, wait, no, we can't do that. Like, one of y' all has to.
Danielle Busby
At least it's gonna come to that result. But can we?
Adam Busby
Like, yeah, ultimately we're gonna get there, but one of y' all at least needs to somewhat play devil's advocate. And.
Danielle Busby
And guess who usually got picked just.
Adam Busby
Because Danielle's more of, like, the headstrong, task oriented, like, black and white planner, stuff like that. So it was always like, Danielle was the one that, like, oh, no. Like, it needs to be like this. And I'm like, more of the dreamer and like, oh, like, let's do this or let's have fun or whatever. So that's how I was portrayed most of the time is just like, oh, yeah, we'll get to there, but, like, let's have some fun first, you know, or something like that. And then they wanted Danielle just to be like.
Danielle Busby
And I'm like, let's get it done and have fun later.
Adam Busby
Yeah. But it does put a. This, like, negative spin on just like Danielle, you know, in editing. Because it's like, you never let Adam do what he wants.
Danielle Busby
And if you only knew. I think, honestly, I actually think the older older people get, the more. The more selfish they get. Because you get to where you get.
Adam Busby
Set in your ways.
Danielle Busby
Set in your ways. But then you get to the, like, I don't care club, which. That's that lady I've been following on Instagram who I love.
Adam Busby
She has an I don't care club.
Danielle Busby
Yes. And she's so on point with everything that she sends she shares. She'll be like, I'm sorry. She's like. She puts a nap and says, like, the I don't. Founding member of the We Don't Care club. And then she'll say, I'm going to read our we do not care statements for the day. I do not care. No, we. Because this is about people in the club. Who's in the club, the people who don't care. Like, angel says, we do not care if the front of our hair is done and the back is not. Y' all are the ones looking at the back. We do not care. Just funny things like that. Like, I. I'm trying to think other ones that she's. I mean, it's just. They're all so good. They're all so good. So I've been sending it to all the friends who are going through. It's all about, like, going through, like, this perimenopause. Menopause, like, statements. And I just think I like my aunts. Aunt Lyette like, telling me. I remember when she was, like, in her 40s, and we would like, oh, you need to shave your legs. And she's like, I just don't care. And, like, hello. That's, like, so mean. Now I'm like, man, I haven't shaved my legs in forever, or you're going to see, like, my ankles. I'll just shave, like, the bottom two inches of. We do not care anyway. That makes me laugh. And you're like, this is boring. All right, Adam, what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen me do? This is as a mom, but what's the weirdest thing you've ever seen me do as a mom or not a mom?
Adam Busby
I mean, yeah, I mean, stuff, but it. I don't know. It's. It's things like, out of the norm, necessity, and, like, out of the norm of, like, a normal situation. So, like, having six babies, like, in a huge packing, play, baby gate situation in the living room, and you just need to prep to leave the house or prep dinner or wash dishes or whatever's going on. And, I mean, the floor was clean, but you would just take, like, their, like, little puffs. The little puff snacks. And, like, all the babies are just, like, standing at the gate, like, whining because they want out. You know, anytime there's a barrier, they went through it. And she would just go over to the edge of the thing and just, like, sprinkle all the snacks on the ground, and they're just like. Like little chickens.
Danielle Busby
Remember Alejandro saw that first time. This lady's crazy.
Adam Busby
What the heck is going on here?
Danielle Busby
Builds their immune system. Yeah, I mean, I didn't do it.
Adam Busby
Out in, like, public to this day. Our kids have great immune systems, so it could be a parenting hack.
Danielle Busby
How to feed more kids at one time. Sprinkle on the floor.
Adam Busby
Sprinkle snacks. And now it's, like, always a. Like, I even, like, bring this up with the girls. Like, if we're, like, going out of town for, like, two days or something like that. They're like, who's going to watch the dogs? Like, well, let's just sprinkle some snacks. They'll be fine. They're like, what? No. All right. What is the funniest or strangest DM you've ever gotten this could out somebody that may be watching this episode?
Danielle Busby
I don't know why I pull it up right now.
Adam Busby
Gotten one recently.
Danielle Busby
I just remember a long A while back, I made a post about something and it was like, probably like a heartfelt, like, sweet thing. And then someone commented and said, I have a brain tumor. I want ice cream. Like, that was the comment that you.
Adam Busby
Have a brain tumor or they do?
Danielle Busby
Well, I don't know.
Adam Busby
Did it say I or you? Well, I don't remember.
Danielle Busby
It was a while back, but it was just. It was so random. It had nothing to do with. With the post in. Those two things really didn't go together either, you know, in a sense. So I just remember reading that going, like, what? What?
Adam Busby
I remember. I mean, yeah, I mean, obviously we get a lot of DMs, but there's like, for the most part, we probably. We might see most of them. We at least, like, kind of scan through them and, like, swipe through. But obviously you don't have time to, like, respond to everything. Or it's just like something so random that, like, it doesn't even warrant, like, needing to respond. You're just like, oh, okay.
Danielle Busby
I don't even know how to go to the DMs anymore. All this stuff changes all the time.
Adam Busby
I know. I was posting.
Danielle Busby
How do you. How do you go to.
Adam Busby
I was posting something from your account the other day, and your Instagram looks different than mine. Like, your messages are at the bottom now, not the top.
Danielle Busby
Oh, there they are.
Adam Busby
It's weird how Instagram rolls out new, new features to certain accounts and when. And so, like, sometimes, like, Danielle will get, like, an update and it's like, completely different. And then I'll, like, look on my phone and like, oh, there's no update. But hers just looks different now.
Danielle Busby
I get a lot of ones, like, in different languages.
Adam Busby
Yeah, I get that for sure.
Danielle Busby
I think it's a. I think it's. It's frustrating a bit where I. If I were to post like a game or something, and then, you know, and then I'll like, link or tag it or say something, and it's like, people get annoyed.
Adam Busby
People might come back trying to make that money.
Danielle Busby
And I'm like, if you only saw the amount of people asking, where's that from? What's that game?
Adam Busby
That's just like, miserable people that are like, gosh, they. They think the worst intentions about everything that you post because they're. They're just either miserable or jealous.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
And nine times out of 10, usually whenever we share, like, a link to something, it's because we know if we, like, post ourselves, like.
Regain Couples Therapy
Obtain Quattro telephone, Samsung Galaxy S25CON, Galaxy AI por Quenta Nuestra. I quatrous.
Adam Busby
You know, have an interaction with the kids, playing with some new game. Or like, we're going to get 50 DMs asking, oh, what is that? Send me a link. And so, like, we'll just go ahead and put a link in there because we know we're going to get asked anyway. But then you have those people. Those people, Yeah.
Danielle Busby
I like to know it's been reaching out to me and wanting me to set up a thing.
Adam Busby
And I'm like, yeah, I remember Danny Austin wanted me to set up a. Like, to know it.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, you're.
Adam Busby
Yeah, she's like, Adam, you totally need a. Like to know it.
Danielle Busby
I wish I could find a good one right now. Wow, there's a lot of messages on here I hadn't even seen that are actually from people. Remember, I'm. Dude, I had one lady. I wish I could remember her name, but remember, she was, like, older. Like, a older lady. And she bashed me. Every single time I posted something. She would send me a hateful message.
Adam Busby
Remember her? Yeah, I usually, like, sometimes. Sometimes. Well, I may have just blocked her from your account.
Danielle Busby
No, I like every.
Adam Busby
Every now and then, like, if it's like the same person and, like, I'll like, click on a DM and it's like every response, I gotta swipe up through, like, every responsive ever sent, and every single one of them is something negative or criticism or, like, not a single positive thing.
Danielle Busby
Some of them might be like, ew, your earrings are horrible.
Adam Busby
This page is clearly. This page is not for you. So, like, I'll just, like, block them. Like, why are you. Why are you even following me? Like, you don't have one nice thing to say about anything, Nick. We just kind of block out, like, people just want to steal your joy. So you just kind of. You gotta. You gotta brush those haters off.
Danielle Busby
Shake your haters off.
Adam Busby
It's probably what Hazel would say.
Danielle Busby
No, she would say, sleigh baddie.
Adam Busby
That's Hazel's thing. Hazel's into all, like, the. What the teenagers say now. Yeah, all the kids are. Hazel says, slay so much now.
Danielle Busby
Sleigh baddie. What's the other one? Sleigh baddie something. She'll say, like, three words. I'm like, what does all that even mean?
Adam Busby
Or you'll. You'll be like. She'll text you something and you'll give her an answer. She's like, okay, slay.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, slay. And then I start doing it.
Adam Busby
Hazel say that like, Our sweetest little redhead. Okay, slay.
Danielle Busby
What's something I do that secretly drives you nuts but you love me anyway? Oh, quick to answer already. All the other ones you had to think real hard.
Adam Busby
That I secretly find annoying. Well, for one thing.
Danielle Busby
No, it says, drives you nuts, but you love me anyway.
Adam Busby
How many can I give?
Danielle Busby
Rude.
Adam Busby
No, it's. It's probably justified.
Danielle Busby
Just answer.
Adam Busby
It's probably like, the. Which I know that this is Danielle's like, me time of the day. Just like mine is probably is going to the gym. But, like, after all the kids are in bed, like, she'll spend probably an hour and a half. I feel like sometimes two hours because I don't know. Because by the time she comes to bed, I'm asleep. And that, like, annoys me sometimes because, like, sometimes, like, I just want to, like, hang out or like, oh, well, that's the time for, like, us to catch up. And then, like, you're in there. I feel like you're just waiting me out until I go to sleep some nights.
Danielle Busby
That is so rude. That would be like, me, like, being mad that you're at the gym, but.
Adam Busby
You can't be mad because you don't even know I'm gone.
Danielle Busby
Why?
Adam Busby
Because you're asleep.
Danielle Busby
Well, you're asleep when I'm in the bathtub.
Adam Busby
I know, but, like, I don't get to spend any time.
Danielle Busby
This is the thing that we're not going to get an argument, but we might. This is the thing that gets annoying, is that I tell you a lot of times, like, everything's fine until you're preferences off.
Adam Busby
No, but, like, sometimes, like, I want.
Danielle Busby
To just like, then say something.
Adam Busby
Spend time with you, then say something.
Danielle Busby
Hey, let's hang out. You never, you know, you never tell me what's in your head. I'm always like, what's in there? Tell me what you're thinking. I can't assume. I know, but to me, I'm like, he's just gonna go get right in bed every night.
Adam Busby
But it's just like, sometimes you're just like.
Danielle Busby
But like, you can't. That's not justifiable because, like, to me, I'm like the kids going to bed. You're like, immediately, you go get in bed. You brush your teeth, you go get in bed.
Adam Busby
And I wake up early.
Danielle Busby
But, yeah, but this is.
Adam Busby
What am I gonna do? Go crawl in the bathtub with you?
Danielle Busby
No.
Adam Busby
What are you doing in here?
Danielle Busby
Well, when you gonna. When you gonna ask me out on.
Adam Busby
A date on a weeknight while Our kids are in sleep.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, you could. Yeah, you could done that. Like, hey, let's go hang out. Let's go hang on the back porch. No, you just get annoyed that I go to the bathtub. Well, I'm annoyed you went to bed. I'm glad you still love me anyway, though. I choose to take a bath.
Adam Busby
It's not take a bath. I can take a bath in three minutes.
Danielle Busby
You, you go to the gym for two hours. Why can't I do what I want for two hours?
Adam Busby
I don't go to the gym for two hours.
Danielle Busby
Okay, an hour, 30 minutes.
Adam Busby
Hurry back together.
Danielle Busby
Why are you not giving me any of time?
Adam Busby
Maybe on days that, like, I go to the gym after getting the kids to school, I might take that long.
Danielle Busby
But I think this is a fair discussion. This is a fair discussion to have for our listeners because I think this relates to a lot of relationships. You, you go do something that you want to do when I'm still sleeping and the kids are asleep. And yet.
Adam Busby
But my thing keeps everyone else in consideration because, like, I'll make it a point to be home to help with getting the kids ready for school.
Danielle Busby
And so how is mine not justifiable because the kids go to bed and you go get in bed.
Adam Busby
I know, but maybe I want to hang out.
Danielle Busby
But they're, they're the exact same scenario, but not your timing. Do you understand? Do you see how it's the same thing?
Adam Busby
Kind of.
Danielle Busby
Then explain to me how it's not. So our listeners can explain to their husbands, too. How is it not the same?
Adam Busby
Because I just don't understand it because I don't take baths either, though.
Danielle Busby
Okay, Take the, Take the idea. Take the bath out of it.
Adam Busby
Like, I couldn't just, I couldn't just, like, sit in the tub for two hours.
Danielle Busby
So take, take.
Adam Busby
How many women out there actually like love baths? Yeah, just like, we'll sit in there for hours.
Danielle Busby
You got five, six more in this house, that love bath. That's why we need more bathrooms.
Adam Busby
Yeah, I just can't do it.
Danielle Busby
But listen, get bored. Take whatever the thing is out.
Adam Busby
So you go, I've tried, I've tried to get.
Danielle Busby
Ask a question.
Adam Busby
Take the thing out.
Danielle Busby
It's not about what the thing is that you want to do for your time and I want to do for my time. It's not about what that actual thing is. So then therefore, what's the problem? No matter what, you're going to bed. No matter what, you're still. No matter what, you are sleeping there's no, they're not. At the same time, they're not. I think, I think this would. I think this statement I'm about to make is relatable. I think you get annoyed because I'm doing something without you and did not include you. Or, or you're assuming I don't want you to, which is that into. That is a statement because it's my, that's my like brown grounding time. Just like your gym time is your grounding time. Okay. That's your time.
Adam Busby
But I would actually enjoy it if you came to the gym with me.
Danielle Busby
But this is the thing. Like you are a different personality and a different like love language and like all those things. And I'm not the same.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
So I need to be away and you want to be more absorbed. So you want me to go with you? You want me to do this. You don't verbally say those things, but you, you want those wants.
Adam Busby
And I'm like, I want you to want to.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. And I want you to want to leave me alone. Because this comes to that introvert, extrovert parts of your day.
Adam Busby
Yeah, for sure.
Danielle Busby
Like. Like when we talk about going to India, there's 400000 people. I'm like, oh my God.
Adam Busby
Like I was actually like that last night. Been away. Indianapolis. Get home. And then. Oh, I stayed half the day. I. I got off the airplane, went straight to the office, stayed there for half the day to prep because I had an all day long photo shoot at Good Ranchers Tuesday. And so I just wanted long, A.
Danielle Busby
Long couple of days.
Adam Busby
Yeah. And so I wanted to get everything squared away because I knew we wanted to start this shoot super, super early in the morning because we had to just like. It was one of the more ambitious shoots that we've done. Like, just had a lot of stuff to shoot but got there like got everything prepped, woke up the next morning, didn't go to the gym because I wouldn't have had time. So I didn't get to go to the gym that day and then got to the office before 7am to get prepped. So we were ready to shoot as soon as everybody got there. And then I was there till probably 7:30 last night. And so whenever I got home I was just like done and I was just tired. I'd pretty much been standing all day and I was just like ready to just like collapse. And then you were like organizing everything in the house all day, getting ready for the carpet cleaners for today. And then you're Like, I need all this stuff brought down from upstairs.
Danielle Busby
Well, we also had the award thing that night, and I said before you go, sit down, will you please take this downstairs? Because I knew.
Adam Busby
I knew it wasn't just one thing. It was, like, stacks of things.
Danielle Busby
Babe, I'm used. I needed your muscle.
Adam Busby
So by the time, like, we'd gotten everything down, I'm like, I'm done. And I just went. Literally went straight to bed.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, but the. The. The conversation issue is I was not.
Adam Busby
Needy yesterday and needed, like, wanted to hang out. I was just.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So why is that okay at that moment? See what I'm saying?
Adam Busby
Like, but that's not every day for you. I feel like it's every day or near about.
Danielle Busby
I feel like you feel like it's every day.
Adam Busby
Yeah, true.
Danielle Busby
I literally take a bath every day, so almost every day. So, like, how you feel at times where you don't get, like, your gym time or whatever, and it makes your day different. That's how I feel when it comes to, like, whatever I'm doing, even, like, my bath time. So this is where I'm saying it's not about what the thing is. It's about giving grace to the other person.
Adam Busby
I feel like this is probably a very relatable conversation because it's something the other needs.
Danielle Busby
So this shows how you love by giving grace and all those things, but you're not a very big communicator, and you don't verbally talk about what you need or what you want or what you're feeling or, like, it has to be drug out of you.
Adam Busby
Yeah.
Danielle Busby
So if you were to say, like, hey, I know. So. So husbands or wives out there, who relates to my side or Adam's side, like, if you're like, me saying, communicating.
Adam Busby
Intentions goes a long way.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. Like, saying, like, hey, I know you want to take your bath tonight, but, like, before that, you want to go. Like, let's go. Let's go sit on the back porch and just hang out for a bit. Okay. Yeah. I'm totally down. You're not taking away my need for, like, escape and alone time and to get out of the distractions. But you're also you. So you're offering me. I know. Like, let's just have a little bit of time together before you go do that. You're not taking it away from me and absorbing all of me more. Because a lot of times, like, there's a need. I feel like there's a need of, like, I'm always needed. I'm Always needed. I'm always needed. I'm always needed. Which is. It's not a. I'm not. It's not a complaining statement. It just shows that, like, at the end of the day, like, what I want to do is not be around anybody. Like, the introvert in me is like, I just want to breathe. Because I have been doing, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And you're. You're almost the opposite. Your hard part is. Is you're very. You're like a network or social person, but it takes a lot of energy out of you. And so at the end of the day, you want. The introvert of you wants to come out and be, like, coddled in a sense. So we are complete opposites. So the communication through those is where, once again, communication, which we know is our hardest thing. So lesson learned.
Adam Busby
Sure.
Danielle Busby
That was a great podcast. Started out with Q and A, off to something hopeful and helpful.
Adam Busby
Yeah. Because we're probably right in an hour, which I didn't think we'd go that long.
Danielle Busby
Well, actually, I was looking at the thing going, the carpet guys probably about to be hearing the dogs and start making a bunch of noises. And then you're going to say, your alarms went off. And I'm going to say, no, they were.
Adam Busby
All right, so.
Danielle Busby
So what did we learn this podcast, and what did we share that was relevant?
Adam Busby
I don't think the last part really got that heavy. It just got into, like, a real topic. But I don't know, we always end up going into something, like, very real. And I would hope that's pretty relatable amongst husbands and wives.
Danielle Busby
It's not about the gym. It's not about the bath time. It's about understanding each other's need for a breath and, like, that quiet time.
Adam Busby
But also, like, communicating expectations.
Danielle Busby
Yes. And then communicating expectations and always remembering, too, because we forget this. I do, you do, we all do. You listening doesn't do this well either. And forgets this, too, is that you do not love enough. So show love more to the other person. And that's hard because we're humans and we're selfish and we want what we want. And like I was saying, the older we get, I think the more selfish we get because we. We want to be in our own. Like, Adam, I keep telling him, like, if it's not on your time, you're annoyed. Well, same with me at times, too. So it's like, we gotta stop trying to, like, keep things in our own rhythm and have to show the grace and put the others first. And, like, it's just a hard thing to do. And that's marriage.
Adam Busby
That's marriage. So thank you guys for tuning in to episode 34 of more than Reality podcast, and we'll see you in the next one.
Danielle Busby
See y'.
Adam Busby
All. All right, we love you guys.
Danielle Busby
Bye.
Adam Busby
Bye, Sam.
