Every day, our world gets a little more connected, but a little further apart. But then there are moments that remind us to be more human.
Adam Busby
Thank you for calling Amica Insurance.
Unnamed Caller
Hey, I was just in an accident.
Adam Busby
Don't worry, we'll get you taken care of.
Danielle Busby
At Ameca, we understand that looking out for each other isn't new or groundbreaking. It's human. Amica empathy is our best policy.
Unnamed Caller
Finally, it just got to a point where, like, what are we doing here?
Unnamed Speaker
I'm going to get fired up, so I'm going to hold my tongue. This is what I have dealt with for three years, and it got to a point where I had to get lawyers involved. And this is where it has turned into.
Adam Busby
This is more. More Than Reality podcast, where we dive into all things faith, family, and marriage and share that there is so much more than the reality that you see on the surface. Welcome to More Than Reality with Adam and Danielle Busby.
Unnamed Speaker
Welcome.
Unnamed Caller
Welcome, guys, to More Than Reality podcast. This is episode 38.
Unnamed Speaker
I'm Danielle.
Unnamed Caller
I was trying to see if you'd.
Unnamed Speaker
Remember you did that last time, and.
Unnamed Caller
I remembered you did remember last week, so I thought you were gonna be on it.
Unnamed Speaker
No, I'm just in a mood today. I just. Hormones, huh? Hormones, I think, because I've switched the hormone stuff again, trying to get it on the good path. And now I'm annoyed just with any little thing today. And I didn't sleep well because I was having a lot of hot flashes and so I got up and I couldn't sleep and.
Unnamed Caller
Women problems.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. So don't get on my nerves today.
Unnamed Caller
Wow. Wow.
Unnamed Speaker
Let's do a connect card because we haven't done these in a while.
Unnamed Caller
Sure.
Unnamed Speaker
Actually, I want to ask you first, so you pick it because I don't feel like talking right now. No, I get to read it for you. What is something that is giving you a lot of purpose right now?
Unnamed Caller
A lot of purpose right now. I feel. I feel like my role at work is, like, growing and, like, just, like confidence and just people leaning on me more has been growing, especially over the last few weeks. It's been. Honestly, I've been spending a lot more time at the Good Ranchers headquarters and just Being involved in a bunch of different stuff. Some stuff that I'm not normally, well, that involved in, I guess you could say. And it's just given me like more sense of purpose. I feel like just, I think in general it gives, it gives you confidence whenever people are just like leaning on you more heavily.
Unnamed Speaker
And what about outside of that form of work?
Unnamed Caller
What do you mean outside of that form of work?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, I mean like you're like, are you, are you find more confidence working within that company because you know, you still work for yourself and that is a part of a job. But do you feel like you're receiving that with other type of work that you do as well or is that kind of more like. I know the environment is amazing and like we love everything Good Ranchers.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah, I think it's like, do you feel like when you're doing a season.
Unnamed Speaker
Right now, when you're doing other projects, do you feel the same or is that just like a high place of like work?
Unnamed Caller
I mean, I really just, just thoroughly enjoy just being up there and being with the people there. I mean honestly, some of my best friends work there and so that's like, it just gives me like. Because I'm not just like going to my job that I enjoy but like I'm you know, doing life with friends and stuff there and it's just, it's fulfilling for a lot of you that don't know. Like I'm very involved in and Good Ranchers, like I'm a partner within Good Ranchers but I'm also like very involved with their marketing team and creative team and partnerships team and even just like leadership within the company and able to like give my two cents and give my advice and from like my marketing background and photography and videography background and, and even just like the things that we've learned over the years and the people that we've met, you know, in 10 years of television and stuff like that and just like partnerships with other like social media influencers and you know, I just know a lot of people in the industry as well and you know, a lot of that stuff is able to kind of just merge into this one all encompassing role that I have there. But you know, and I've been there for the last three years just helping out as much as I can just because we, we do stay so busy within our home and in our own, you know, family, brand and businesses and stuff like that. But I feel like that role is like growing and expanding and was in a ton of meetings this week just about Just different stuff and exciting new things and, and stuff like that. And. But just over the last, you know, three years of just being there whenever I can and then, you know, that growing more and more and like, actually just wanting to be there. Like the culture there at Good Ranchers is just so infectious. And it's just like a family and it's like very family friendly environment and stuff like that and just thoroughly enjoy, like all the people that are there and stuff. And so it just, it makes it fun to just go. I said just go to work. But it's, it's cool. I mean, it's like whenever you thoroughly enjoy like the people and the place and stuff like that, it just doesn't quite feel like work.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
Even though sometimes it is a lot of work. It's been neat. I mean, good.
Unnamed Speaker
It's good to see you in a place enjoying what you do.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
Because it took a while for you to get back on that path of like, just being, like, content with, you know, a different pace of life, a different change of schedule, a different which. And now it's even like changing more.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. Because, like, I mean, like, we do talk about Good Ranchers a lot and like, they do sponsor the show and they do stuff and so, like, a lot of people kind of have that. Oh, y' all are just social media influencers. Like, you're just talking about a brand that's paying you, blah, blah, blah. But no, it's like our relationship with Good Ranchers is so much bigger.
Unnamed Speaker
It's literally like family.
Unnamed Caller
So much more intimate with our family. Like, I mean, literally, you know, the founder, the husband and wife, Ben and Corley. I mean, they're very dear, close friends of ours and close friends with, like, our kids. I mean, we were just there last night, like with dinner and stuff.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. Celebrating Corley's one year cancer free. It was a big milestone. We're gonna have to have them on and let her share her testimony and their story.
Unnamed Caller
I know. Eventually we're gonna, we're gonna parlay this podcast. Hopefully, like, maybe whenever we move out of this house or whatever, we'll like kind of build out like a formal podcast space or even just find another place in town. Because, like, that is an aspiration of this podcast where I have a running.
Unnamed Speaker
List of all the people I already want.
Unnamed Caller
We eventually will. I mean, it's not just gonna be like forever. It's not just gonna be just Danielle and I. It's, you know, we're going to be bringing, I mean, a big part of the story of more than reality and a big part of the mission and the, the holistic view of our podcast. Like, yes, it's more than reality. It's kind of a play on, you know, we, we have this reality TV career that we have and stuff like that. And we're so much more than, you know, the people that you see on tv. That, which, you know, is pretty much like a, a caricature in a sense of who we are. But also there's a whole nother aspect of more than reality. Is everybody out there, all of you guys, we all have a story to tell and, and, and we have, you know, our story, whether, whether we feel that it's insignificant or it's not that powerful of a story. I believe that everybody out there has a story to tell from your own life experiences and relationships and stuff that you have a story to tell that will minister to someone else out there. I mean, we're Christians, you know, we go to a Bible believing, gospel centered Christian, non denominational Christian church. And we've always believed that, you know, sharing your story is powerful, you know, and sharing like the experiences you've had in your life, which we've shared, awful lot of that, you know, because we, we're pretty open book whenever it comes to that. But, you know, those experiences can minister to someone else. And the things that you've gone through and the, the trials and the things, the hard things that you've experienced in life can minister to other people and, and just encouraging people to share their story and, and so that's like a whole nother aspect of this podcast that we'll eventually get into in like later seasons where we're going to bring people in that. And one day it could be you that's listening right now. People that have impactful and powerful stories of how they've overcome things and that may, you know, potentially minister to other people and just to amplify those stories, you know, your story, just us being able to have the platform to be able to amplify other people's stories out there can greatly benefit other people.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. So, yeah, and that's like something I, you know, envision creating within the women's like, ministry type things that I'm doing this fall. Is that like trying to figure out a way to connect with the people who will like, register to come, but who has a significant story that we should have a conversation with and like have like podcast, you know, sharing of that just to, you know, because not everybody has the avenue of being able to tell a story. But I love the fact that like, you know, I'm going to be putting on this event and then however many people show up, that's everybody there's got a story. But how do I utilize, how to communicate, capture a story?
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
I mean, while they're there, so much.
Unnamed Caller
Of our, of our story and our experience. I mean, God is giving us a very miraculous and powerful story, but he's also blessed us significantly, significantly with a platform. And you know, we want to, to be good stewards of our platform and not just for our own benefit.
Unnamed Speaker
And that's that, like, just to say that is very true. And I, and I, I believe it. But it's, for me, it's very hard to act upon that in this, in that way. Like having a platform, it's so, like, overwhelming in a sense to me, to me, because I'm not one to really, like, want to be in the front. I can be. And I'm gonna do it good.
Unnamed Caller
I'm gonna do it good.
Unnamed Speaker
I'm encouraging myself. But it is very hard to.

Unnamed Speaker
Front line to, like, keep it going, you know, like, yes, we have had this story, we had TV show for 10 years and 10 seasons, all this stuff. And, but we also have a very, like, I try to say, like our normal, just life of kids and go to school and go to church and sports and all these things. And sometimes you have to for like, I forget all the time, like, did I do a good job today showing Jesus to someone and not even like, maybe speaking words that say anything like scripture or whatnot, but like, did I do something today that encourage someone?
Unnamed Caller
Something that's like kingdom minded?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. And that could be. And then when you say like on the platform, I'm like, okay, how did I do that today? Because, you know, I think first step is within the home for sure. And that's hard in itself, just. Just doing that, you know. And so to have a platform to be mindful of, like, having to be on a par level, like that level of as a working hour is hard. It's hard for me because it's real. It's just weird. It's weir because it's outside of like the normal. Like nine to five. Like, you know, we can do a film in this podcast at 7:00pm At 1:00pm, like, we have.
Unnamed Caller
Let's be serious. You're not filming this podcast at 7:00am.
Unnamed Speaker
I mean, I could, but I'm not going to because I get to. We get to pick and choose when we want to film it. Not doing anything at 7am, especially right now.
Unnamed Caller
I would love it.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, no, but I do. It's something I do pray about. Like, God, keep me. Keep me more mindful on how to speak and how to utilize social media and the tools and the gifts and all that stuff, because it's very hard to. I mean, we follow some amazing people who are very, very good at what they do. And I'll just think, I wish I could just do that.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
But that's. It's hard for me. I mean, and let's be honest, I've been.
Unnamed Caller
I've been in a little bit of a social media slump the last, like, month.
Unnamed Speaker
But how much do you fight with me on how hard it is to get me to just sit down and do our own podcast?
Unnamed Caller
Oh, trust me.
Unnamed Speaker
And it's not because I don't teeth sometimes. And it's not because I don't want you. Because this is what I want to do. Like, yeah, I want to. I want to share, I want to be real. I want to talk. I want it. I want, like, how I'm like, please, someone listen to it besides me. But it's not that I don't want to do it. This is what I tell them. It's not that I don't want to do it. It's that even though this is a rhythm and we do this on a specific day, it's still like, I don't know. I don't know. Like, enemy, like, want to, like, just make me fight. It's just hard. Like, I don't have any other way to say. It's not natural. It's not natural for me.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. Daniel's always fought against that, like, even. Even having our TV show, I mean, it's just like. Oh. Like, it's just doesn't. She's always struggled with, like, putting herself out there, Right?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
Like, once you get going, like, you. You're great at it.
Unnamed Speaker
It's just the initial. It's the initial.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And it's. And it was every single day filming. It didn't matter. Like, these are our people. These is our camera crew. This is like, it's just not. It's not a comfortable. I guess I. I guess if I think about it, I guess I just think too. Too little of my capabilities of what God's given us.
Unnamed Caller
You do.
Unnamed Speaker
And that's probably what holds me back, is that I'm not. Not like every other woman in this world probably thinks, like, I'm not good enough.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And I think that really is, like, sums down, like, the root of, like, why, like, even just to come in here and sit today, I'm just like, you know, what am I going to say today? That someone is going to. Those are lies and thoughts that go through my head a lot. And those are, like, internally, like, about myself. And I know they're not true because I'm amazing, like Riley would say.
Unnamed Caller
And we saw that a lot even on, you know, reality tv is, you know, like, what are. What are people really getting out of this? And, like, is God really in this? And we struggle with that a lot. And then, you know, things that. And we've. I think we've briefly mentioned this, like, on. On the podcast before. It's like, you know, we would have, you know, storylines and just like, monotonous storylines or whatever on the show where we're thinking, like, you know what. What's really the point in this? Like, why are we doing this? Is it. Is it honoring and is it. Is it being a good steward of our story and stuff like that? And then randomly, like, after episodes air, you get all these, like, stories back from people. Like, man, like, things that you never would have imagined that people are getting out of a specific story. You're like, wow, like, God, like, no matter what, like, God's going to use the story and he's going to. And the Holy Spirit is going to speak to people in different ways, and we would have never even imagined.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
And we see it and we've heard the stories and we've gotten the messages and stuff, and we're like, huh? Yeah, it's not about us.
Unnamed Speaker
And it's not. It's not. And we've always said that no matter.
Unnamed Caller
How like small we think we are or insignificant our story is and how, like, we're not enough.
Adam Busby

Unnamed Caller
There to like send these people our way with messages of encouragement and stuff about our story where we're just like, also weird messages and emails across the board. We get some off the wall stuff. Even this week, Daniel got the crazy email.
Unnamed Speaker
Makes no sense. And it was like, Timothy Chalamet is not with Kylie Jenner. He's with Ava.
Unnamed Caller
I don't think we need to details.
Unnamed Speaker
Bought a cat. And I mean, it is like I'm thinking, who one. Why, why is someone sending this to me? But every once in a while it is funny to read those things and I'm like, this is so off the wall, like it makes no sense. But yeah, I mean, I would just say in all honesty, as much as I love, I really do love doing the podcast and I love this outlet that we have. But I'm, we're always like in a time battle, crunch with things and stuff. And so then I get stressed out because now I'm late to what's next and yada, yada, yada. But I still have a hard time every single time to just come sit on the mic, you know, and it, it's just, I don't know, it's just a battle. I, I fight every, every time.
Unnamed Caller
It's just one of those things is like other people see things in you that you don't see in yourself. That's one thing that I've always struggled with. Danielle, you like, I see those things that people say and I, I see, you know, how, you know, impactful you are to other people and other people's lives and stuff. Like that. And it's like you believe the lies that you tell yourself or are just. Or just believe those lies that are in your head. You don't feel that same way all the time. And it's like.
Unnamed Speaker
I know.
Unnamed Caller
And so it's just. It's been so hard to, like, encourage you in that because, I don't know, like, you once. Once I get you going, like, everything's great and. And it's awesome, but it's just getting. Getting you started. Yeah. With that and, like, crossing that hurdle of just, like, starting it and doing it and blah, blah, blah. Yeah. I mean, we've always kind of struggled that with that over the years.
Unnamed Speaker
I don't know why we got on that tangent, but anyways, you want to throw me a card so I can now process and talk more about when.
Unnamed Caller
Oh, there we go.
Unnamed Speaker
Oh, Lord.
Unnamed Caller
When you were younger, what dreams did you have for your future family?
Unnamed Speaker
Oh, very relevant. After just passing up, going through Father's Day, was literally that the post that I wrote and, like, said about you and stuff. It's like, not growing up with something and. And I'm not a political person, but I've been listening to Hillbilly Elegy with Vance's book, and it's just.
Unnamed Caller
I relate so much to it, all the politics aside. Like, his story is so powerful.
Unnamed Speaker
Oh, my gosh. I had no idea.
Unnamed Caller
Just somebody who came from nothing, you know, the things that he's overcome and.
Unnamed Speaker
But just, like, talking about his family, talking about there's a lot of things, like, with his mom and, like, just drama and, like, bad choices and, you know, kind of coming out of that. I don't know. It's just really been.
Unnamed Caller
You had a friend of yours that, like, recommended. Yes, because knowing. Knowing Danielle's story, she recommended. Hey, you should actually, like, listen to this guy's story because, like, there's some parallels there. Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And now I finished it today as I was packing the last couple orders for Grace and B. And so now I can watch the movie because I heard there's a movie.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah, it was funny the other night. I was watching.
Unnamed Speaker
Wait, I haven't answered my question.
Unnamed Caller
I was watching an LSU baseball game, and you're over there packing orders for Grace and B, and you have your headphones in, and I guess you were listening to the book, but it's like, every few minutes, like, she busts out laughing.
Unnamed Speaker
Yes. Because when he talks about his grandma, I mean, she's just so. See, she cusses like a sailor and she don't Got time for nobody she loves but she will fight somebody quick. I just. I don't know, it's just. And I like that it was him reading it, the audible of it, because it just makes it feel real. So, like, when my book is done, I'm going to be the one doing the audiobook on it. So I'm going to sit with a mic and have a hard time doing that, and then I'm going to be amazing at doing it anyway. So what did I dream for as a fa. What was the question?
Unnamed Caller
Future family.
Unnamed Speaker
What did I dream for as a future family?
Unnamed Caller
When you were. When you were younger, what dreams did you have for your future family?
Unnamed Speaker
I wanted security, I wanted safety. I wanted togetherness, and I wanted to have a big family. I mean, I grew up with, you know, my two sisters, but also my cousins were always around, like, every weekend. We were always together. And so just growing up with. Outside of just being with my sisters with cousins and stuff too, that is what my life was like. And so I just felt like growing up, like, I always wanted a lot of kids. And then when you get into part of our story of getting married and trying to have kids and going through infertility, that all became really hard. Um, and then, you know, you kind of, like, see the way God's worked through our story and then end up with six kids. Um, so that heart's desire of, like, always wanting a big family, you know, from a young kid, was something I think God was promising me in the future. But it took me trials to get there to find him and to know him, really. But, you know, having a father for my kids, someone that wasn't just like called a dad or just my husband, it was like, I want the person. Kind of hurts me a little bit at times with expectations, especially over, you know, younger years with you is like, which kind of walk through a lot of that. But just like expectations of you need to be this for that, for them, because I didn't have that. And so my expectations are a lot higher. And you grew up with a solid dad, and you have expectations for yourself of, like, what a good dad is. But my expectations are higher because even with that, it's like, I want the best for them, you know, and just the fact that, like, you're hands on, like, you goof around with them, you play with them, you do stupid things with them, you do, you know, it's just. You'll braid their hair. Like, even watching you braid their ears, like, it's funny, but it's like yes. Like, every dad should be doing that. Like, that is. That's what I wanted as a family. Like, wanting to be together, hang out together, and, like, family. Family. And that is really what kind of brings us into, like, the topic of today is kind of like talking about the real question. Like, we don't really talk about it because we don't really. It's not like a Something we've stepped into. We're in the process of. And we brought it up kind of like I think Adam did last time.
Unnamed Caller
Like, Daniel refers to it as me dropping bombs on podcast.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. Cuz, like, I'm like, dude, how to give him a pow wow before? Like, can you, like, let me know when you're gonna do that?
Unnamed Caller
What are you gonna. What are you gonna say this time, dude?
Unnamed Speaker
I asked him today, I was like, what are you gonna say today that's.
Unnamed Caller
Gonna, like, I'll hold stuff and then I'll just, like, drop it on Daniel.
Unnamed Speaker
I said last week, I was like, I guess I need to put a microphone in your face, even if it's not on, just to get you to tell me something that you would, like.
Unnamed Caller
Say or with me. Like, a lot of things. Like, I process internally, but whenever. I guess it's just from the years of being on reality tv and like, you know, you put a camera in somebody's face and they just. You don't want to just sit there and stare at a camera and not say something. So you just, like, it, like, forces you to voice your thoughts.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
And. And I don't normally do that. Like, I normally keep my thoughts in and process them before, you know, I think something completely through. But, like, now. But whenever I have you through in.
Unnamed Speaker
The right way, just like you think.
Unnamed Caller
But whenever I have a camera and a mic in front of me, like, I'll just, like, say it because, yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
It does make you open up, which is good because, like, I said, so anytime I have a question with you, I'm just like, let's go into the office. Let's go sit in the podcast chairs.
Unnamed Caller
Put the monitor up to where we're just looking at the camera, even though we can see each other. All right, so we want to just take a little break for our sponsor today, which is Cozy Earth.

Unnamed Speaker
But anyways, yeah, so today's topic of conversation is really about what Adam dropped the bomb on last week. And we, we hinted around and we've been talking about like change and everything, but he basically was like, we're moving. And I'm like, yeah, we're talking about that.
Unnamed Caller
We've said things over the last probably month of podcasts or whatever and just like kind of given hints or beating around the bush on certain things, but never really like. And I think, I don't think we were ever in a really like a place to. Because I don't think anything was really thought 100% through. It's just like God is leading us in this direction and we need to make a move. And we are trying to be obedient in that and just move whenever we feel that he's saying to move. And you know, and Danielle's usually quicker to just move on and act on things.
Unnamed Speaker
I like this phrase. Someone said this not long ago. And I was like, I'm totally using that on Adam. I discern quicker than you. And there you go.
Unnamed Caller
I think you voice your discernment quicker. Like I.
Unnamed Speaker
Okay.
Unnamed Caller
I mean even, even the stuff that, you know, Daniel, like Voices to me and stuff. It's like. It's like, things that I feel like God has placed on my heart, but I battle against it because I feel like I need to control and I need to think it through. And sometimes it may just be fears that I just, like, hold myself back from, like, really engaging with it because it's something that's scary. And especially, like, uprooting your family and moving, even though it may be somewhere like, 30 minutes away, but it's just the act of putting your house on the market or change or going and looking for houses and stuff like that. And, like. Like, to me, that's just scary. And, like, I don't like the process. Like, it stresses me out. Maybe that's why I'm spending so much time at the office. But, you know, for me, like, it's something that I feel like I share with Danielle and the. In the pool. In the. The pool. The pool of, like. Like God speaking and God, like, guiding us in a different direction. Like, and I feel that, and I know that. And it's like, thoughts that I'm wrestling in my head and my own head, but not really voicing it, not really wanting to act on it, because it's like, I. I need to think this through instead of, like, Danielle will, like, get something. She's like, okay, like, I feel like God has spoken. I think we need to do this. And I'm like, whoa, whoa, whoa. Pump your brakes. And, like, that's just, like, the difference between you and I. Right? Yeah. And so, you know, yeah, she'll. She'll say things, and she'll, like, get the ball rolling on certain things for me is, like, really scary. And, like, hold on. Like, let's think this through. And, you know, I'll worry about, like, all the other variables. And.
Unnamed Speaker
But it's people.
Unnamed Caller
Weird, affected, and, like, what this is gonna affect and stuff like that. But.
Unnamed Speaker
And it's not that I don't think it's true. It's not that I don't think. Think about all those things either. I just. Look, I. I know my strengths are I can multitask and do multiple things at one time and process and think of multiple things at one time. You can't handle that. Like, just being honest, like, that is overwhelming to you. But I am better. Like, up here, I'm better at this. And you want to, like, sit and ponder with your thoughts in your head. And that drives me nuts because I'm like, nothing's happening. Nothing's getting accomplished. All you're doing is talking yourself in a circle, in a circle, in a circle. And I'm like, whoa. Like, let's unroll the circle and, like, make progress forward. And when we, when. When we try to have conversations, that's what happens. It's like, Adam just, I'll say something. And he's like, rolling thoughts in his head, and I'm like, what are we thinking? What are we. You gotta tell me, like, multiple times a week. I'm like, dude, how am I supposed to know that you don't say it out loud? Can't hear what's in your head, you know, but it's just trying to. Well, I will say. I will say there are things that I would say over this past year where I had definitely have been more in tune and more focused on, like, my spiritual growth and because God has dropped. Unnamed Speaker
Wayfair, every style, every home, these big things, and has been telling me like, this and this, and I'm like, what? Okay, that's a lot. And that's weird. I don't know why that would even come up or whatnot. But all of it's coming through and all of it's happening. And so it's like, wow. So I need to, like, be actionable on these things or it's going to come down to, like, we can't both. We can't both be sitting down with thoughts in our heads. Somebody has to take the step forward. And that's a little bit more my nature to do that because I've grew up doing that for myself and for sometimes my sisters. And, you know, that was just my. My instinct is to just go. And that's how it is when I. When I feel a certain, certain peace like I did the other day, I'm like, I'm 100% peace on this is what God wants for us. And it's hard because within a marriage, and. And it's like, if God is receive. If I've received the peace from God, has Adam received the peace in this topic? And if not, why. But if so, are you going to tell me?
Unnamed Caller
Yeah, And I'm just constantly battling my own nature of just like, internally processing. And I feel like any. Anything that I. Any decision that I'm pondering, I think about it holistically before voicing it.
Unnamed Speaker
And then you stop. And then you stop. Be honest.
Unnamed Caller
Sometimes.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. I mean, you usually stop until. And then you distract yourself and then it comes back because you didn't make any progress with those thoughts. So it comes back to you.
Unnamed Caller
Put a button on it. I'll come back to that.
Unnamed Speaker
Like, you like to treat it like you're editing. Pause.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah, come back.
Unnamed Speaker
That's it. Tomorrow anyway. But, you know, it's when you're making. When you're making life decisions for your family, it's hard. It's hard. And, you know, a lot of things that we've been, you know, going through this past year with work changes, family changes, moving changes, like these are like. Which means school for kids. What is like, what does that look like? Like, these are big things. And it's like, it's a lot. If we're not going forward in any way, we're going to be stagnant and nothing is going to improve or nothing's going to grow or get better or like, whatever it is, we can't just stay. Like the phrase of it's okay to not be okay, but don't stay that way. It's the same thing with our thoughts. We can't keep telling ourselves the same thing and not changing something, you know, because you're never going to improve and you're never going to grow and you're never going to make a difference. You know, so it. It applies to our own self, but it also applies to, you know, reaching out to other people and telling people that. So Adam tells me, and he tells me. I tell him, he tells me. So it's like, we gotta. We have to be mindful, like in. In everybody who's listening, who's in a marriage. Like, you've got to be mindful that, like, even if your marriage is on two separate levels of communication, you gotta find a common ground and you gotta be able to accept that this one processes and does it differently. So how do we do it together? How do we come together? And yeah, it's hard. It's hard because guess what? Because when you're married 20 years, you probably have few kids and you're working and then you got dinners and sports and like, you don't, you don't get a lot of that. Like you and your husband. Let's talk about what the real hard things are right now and the decisions we have to make. Time. Right, you know, you don't get a lot of that, but you gotta, you gotta do it and you gotta make the time for it. And it's not always easy, but you, you have to do it because that's what's going to make your family strong and like to have your marriage be strong, it's going to make your family strong.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. You know, and so like over the. Especially like the last few weeks, as we've kind of been talking about, okay, yeah, we're thinking about moving, we're thinking about a lot of things and things are happening in our life. We talk about like, how, you know, we feel like everything that's going on in our life, you know, in this basket that we're holding up, feel like God just kind of like turned that basket upside down and like, no, like you're gonna go through a big change. And. And I feel like he has allowed things to happen in our life that has like forced us into that change. You know, a big one is just like the grace and be stuff and like allowing that to like slip away and like allowing just like a lot of, A lot of the things to like just progress very rapidly, like out of the blue. Because how long would we have just tried to hold on to that?
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
If he hadn't just like rapidly like shaken that up and you know, just the way that the stuff with the store, you know, we've had, we've had struggles with Grayson B. Over the last three plus years just on the building issues that have caused so many problems with just the store and like operating the business because of issues that we've had with the building that have caused so many problems across the board with like having to cancel. Like, we would have. Danielle would hold these big monthly get togethers with stuff. There were big revenue drivers and all this stuff. And like, we would have to like, out of the blue, like cancel stuff because like a horrible sewage smell like, coming up from the foundation of the building and stuff. That's embarrassing. Like, you don't want to have like a nice clothing boutique and people walk through your door and they're like, what the heck is that smell? All These things you're just having to cancel, which hurts revenue, hurts your overhead and all this stuff because things that you're anticipating and things that you're planning for and stuff. And all of a sudden like, okay, now we had to cancel it because the issues that we're having with the building and you know, so like all these years we've had like all these problems, like every time it would rain seemed like we would have like leaks all over the building. And you know, these problems and concerns that you would bring to, you know, the management company that is in a sense protecting the landlord all these years and just the lack of response that you would get and like the slow to action and you know, like small band aids that just like would just further the problem later on down the road. It's just constantly, just kicking the can and just constant struggles, you know, over the course of three years that finally it just got to a point where like, what are we doing here? You know, and like, we can't take this anymore. It gets to a point where like you start consulting with, you know, an attorney and you know, God placed an attorney in our, in our laps that we've been so happy with, that has given us great advice. And it came down to just like a couple months ago, he's like, look, just from looking at the correspondence, looking at all the video and photo evidence from all these years and stuff that you have, that from flat out complete negligence on the part of the landlord. He's like, look, you got to just move out.
Unnamed Speaker
You got to terminate.
Unnamed Caller
You got to terminate your lease and move out based off of your contract. Like they're not living up to their end of the deal and you just got to, you just got to pull out at some point. You just got to pull out. Obviously that's going to upset a landlord whenever you just up and pull out.
Unnamed Speaker
Well, it makes it very confusing for a lot of the town.
Unnamed Caller
Obviously we, we live in League City, Texas and you know, it's somewhat of a small but very fast growing community and we're very well known in the area and people know that the store is ours or whatever and you know, so, you know, we decide, okay, like, we gotta close the doors and, and move out. And then, you know, the landlord, obviously they're angry and then they post a letter on the door saying, you know, that we've defaulted on payments and blah, blah, blah. Yeah, because we moved out and we terminated the lease like last month or months ago. And. But it looks bad because they put this nasty letter on the door saying that we stopped. You know, we weren't paying rent and stuff, which is, in a sense, like, not true. Yeah. We're not. We. We're not paying rent because we moved out of there and we're not using the space well. And, you know, we had to terminate early.
Unnamed Speaker
You're not saying those words right.
Unnamed Caller
Okay.
Unnamed Speaker
We're not paying rent because we terminated.
Unnamed Caller
We terminated our lease. Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
And made it very clear multiple times.
Unnamed Caller
Our contract. The way that the contract was written, you weren't living up to your end. And we are in.
Unnamed Speaker
Right. So of course we're not paying. Don't have. We've terminated.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
Months ago. And so there's now talk of the town. I feel like this is where it's.
Unnamed Caller
Like, oh, the Busbys weren't paying rent and they got.
Unnamed Speaker
Oh, they got evicted. I'm like, oh, Lord, all the drama that people stir up, but not one person that I keep hearing anything come from. Not one person will ask me.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. They just.
Unnamed Speaker
They just talk like, I'm gonna get. I'm gonna get fired up. So I'm gonna hold my tongue. But all to say is that it is a headache and it is an ordeal, and it has been for years, but there's very much a piece about abiding to our. Like, our counsel and our lawyer and doing what we felt like was the best option and what was contractual in our favor.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
You know, and so we did what we were said to do, and I don't turn away from that. And, you know, the. The. The town can believe what the town wants, but, you know, I'll tell my sisters and stuff, too. I'm like, listen, the people. The people who were, you know, in my bubble, in my circle, or people who do ask me, I. I will tell them. I'm not. I'm not bashing a personal name. I'm not saying anything like that. I'm just saying this is what I have dealt with for three years. And it got to a point where I had to get lawyers involved, and this is where it has turned into. And, no, I didn't get evicted. I terminated. And I said, I'm leaving. I'm giving you 30 days. I'm out. And guess what? I did it. And we did. And, you know, so we're still in this, like, area of.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. Because dealing with it, you know, our attorney has sent a letter saying, you know, they've terminated their lease, blah, blah, blah. And, you know, you got 30 days to respond to the letter return, like, the deposit and all this kind of stuff. Landlord just flat out. I mean, it's way past 30 days now. Landlord flat out hasn't.
Unnamed Speaker
We've had zero response.
Unnamed Caller
Hasn't even responded.
Unnamed Speaker
But we do know that they. But so, but knowing that they had to have received it because then they.
Unnamed Caller
Went and, yeah, they put stuff on the drawer and I'm like, lease the space, whatever.
Unnamed Speaker
I don't want to get fired up because.
Unnamed Caller
But that's, that's. That's our side of the story. That's the truth. And that's where we're at right now. No, it's not over. It's just kind of, you know, and a lot of people have asked, like, well, why don't you just move somewhere? Well, you know. Yeah, because. But, you know, we've only been in that space. You know, we spent the time and money and energy into building out, not.
Unnamed Speaker
To leave after three.
Unnamed Caller
What was Grayson B. With no intention of, like, moving out of there for years. And then all of a sudden, like, all this stuff was happening that caused major pains and just running a business and stuff. And so, you know, having to abruptly terminate that, like, you don't just, you know, obviously it takes years to, like, pay off building, like, build out loans and all this stuff that, like, we haven't fully.

Had a chance to be able to like, pay back yet, like that. We still have these, like, you know, expenses and stuff.
Unnamed Speaker
It doesn't say you can't just leave the space because, yeah, you can't just.
Unnamed Caller
Go, we're gonna go move into a new space and like, build out a new store because, oh, we're still paying off the last one in a sense. And so, you know, that's. That's where the struggle was, was like, we can't just, like, move into another space and like, start over again. Because, like.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah.
Unnamed Caller
And then the nature that this happened, it wasn't.
Unnamed Speaker
And then we had conversations of like, okay, let's just take it back to online and keep it online. And then, you know, just trying to be, like, open to this baby project that I've had for seven years. And it's not something I envision not doing. And, you know, but I have also been, when we left that space, just really been seeing, okay, God, like, what is this? Like, why are we here? Yeah, like, why are we here?
Unnamed Caller
And really, like, seeing like, the reason behind, like, why this is happening. And like, kind of coming to the conclusion of, like, God is a sense allowing this to happen to like, force us, like, into this new chapter in our life.
Unnamed Speaker
And, and, and I'm not gonna say I. Well, I wouldn't say because of that. I think that that is something that is a part of a lot of our life changing, that has kind of like, helped like, push us to making changes, which is good because it falls in line with, like, what we feel. God's shaking the basket.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah.
Unnamed Speaker
Weeding things out and stuff. But.
Unnamed Caller
And so, you know, the, the portion of like, well, then why are y' all moving? Is, you know, you know, a little bit of that is we. We feel a call that God is like, removing us from right here.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. And we feel that.
Unnamed Caller
And. And he's calling us to this other area because it's a more, you know, it's a smaller community, more tight knit community. It's a place that we feel like God wants us to raise our children, to live a more intentional life with our children and in a better way, more suited environment for that.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. And I think, and I think it's okay. Even though it's hard for the kids to kind of like accept that. But being vulnerable with the kids, we as parents are we. This is what's hard. So as a parent, you know, God has gifted us with these children to, to steward, to protect, to guide, to lead, to show them Jesus to all these things. And you know, when you tell them, okay, like, we're going to sell the house and we're going to move, it's like, hold up. That's not what we want. That's not what the kids want. But you have to make hard decisions because, like, we. We have to do what we feel is best for the family. And we've been given that authority from God to say, these are your children. Y' all are responsible for them. And yes, we feel like we're abiding to, you know, what God's been putting on our hearts. But to walk the season of like making sure your kids understand that even when they don't want to is, is hard. Like it's hard. But I would encourage you other parents listening to hold your ground with what you feel is best for your family. It's going to come down to like you and your spouse being the leaders of your home to make the decisions of what's best for your family. My teenager who's, who's got emotions in different opinions every single day. And our 10 year old quintuplets have, cannot make that strong of a decision to say what they feel is best for them because they don't know. They think they know everything at these ages, but they don't know. That is why we are their parents, to guide and teach and lead them into what we feel is best. Are we going to fail? Are we going to make mistakes as parents? Absolutely. But as long as we are staying where we feel connected to God and saying this is the path he wants to follow us and we receive peace through those prayers and stuff, like that's game changer for me. Like when I had a, you know, like week or so at church, like I came home and I like told Blake, I was like, Blake, I was like, I know this is hard, I know you don't want to move, I know we don't have to go to different schools. But like, I want to encourage you that it's going to be fine and you are going to be okay because God has given me peace and it's been decision making and hard and I feel it's, this is what we need to do. But when I received peace about moving schools, I'm like, let it be. Like it's going to be, it's going to happen. And so coming back to her in her like you know, anxiousness and her worry and friends and all that, I'm like, but baby, let me tell you, like I know someone bigger. He told me that you're going to be just fine. And I have a piece about that and I want, and I'm telling you that to encourage you to, to feel better about the situation because your, your emotions and your hormones and all these things are going to be all over the place. But listen to me and what I've received from God and he told me that you were going to be just fine. And there's a piece that, that has brought me And I tell you so that it can hopefully encourage you to feel okay with this decision that we're making as a family, for the family, you know, and so be sure to share those type of things with your kids and, you know, like, tell her it's hot. This is hard. I don't necessarily want to. We too have lived here for 20 years. This is our adult life. This is what we've grown up around. And we too, yes, we do know people in the other town and other city, but, like, it's different.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah, I mean, this has been, this has been our home longer than like our original home, you know, like back in Louisiana. Like, we. We've lived more life here, right here in League City, Texas, than we have, you know, at any other part of our life. Like, you know, we've put roots here and stuff like that. And so, yeah, I mean, it's not, it's not a decision that we take lightly. But I feel like God has orchestrated some things in our life and blessed us with, you know, even just this house where, you know, he's given us things.
Unnamed Speaker
When you think back to the day.
Unnamed Caller
When we had opportunities and. Yeah. And like, he's Everything just kind of fell in line where we were able to get this awesome house and, and then now, you know, just the nature of like, housing market and just how horrible, how horrible the housing is, really.
Unnamed Speaker
God, you want us to move now? Like, it's not a good time.
Unnamed Caller
But also like, of any place in, of any place in League City, Texas. I mean, this is a very like, sought after area, area to live in, which allowed like, home prices and stuff to like, skyrocket since we've, we've moved in here. And you know, we've gained a lot of equity which allows us to have the opportunity, like, look, we could sell this house. We could move, you know, in an area that we want to move into. And it gives us the ability to be able to just make a change, get out from under, just like whatever kind of remaining debt that we do have and also still, you know, come out, you know, and, and have the money to purchase a new house in this new area and stuff. And so that's, that's the decision that we're making, like, you know, holistically, like, it's. It's better stewards of our money. It's better stewards of the life that God has blessed us with to make these decisions. And, you know, we don't want to be burdened by, you know, okay, like we, we have all these. This Debt now from, you know, having to abruptly close down grace and be well, everything that God is pressing on our heart to do. You know, the one thing that as long as allowing us to make, make that move is this house. We don't want to selfishly just staying here. Like he's blessed us with this and now he's given us the opportunity like, okay, like, you can move to this new area, sell this house, get out from under everything and, and still be where I want you to be. And so we're going to be obedient.
Unnamed Speaker
No, and I believe it's more than that.
Unnamed Caller
I believe it is so much more than that.
Unnamed Speaker
But you know, the. I feel like we have just been through these last six months just so much.
Unnamed Caller
I feel like, I feel like I tell a lot of stories very logically and just kind of just telling the logical parts of it. And you're very much better at telling like the heart. Heart behind it. That's why she's like, no, that's wrong. The heart, it's right.
Unnamed Speaker
The heart of her.
Unnamed Caller
But it's. Yeah, you, you do more with like the heart part of it. And then I'm just more like I'm thinking the logical steps all the way through it to make sense also.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah. And I, I would say we have been through a lot of hard, big decisions. We have faced a lot of big heart decisions throughout our life. Very differently type of decisions. And having, trying to have a family, getting pregnant with quintuplets. You're not going to make it. They're probably not going to make it. And going through the NICU for three months with five babies and millions of dollars, I mean, it is unforeseen. There's no explanation to me besides, But God. Because without him guiding our lives, I don't think we would be anywhere where we are today. Even as broken and as trying to find the right word. I wanted to say worthless, but worthless. But even as broken as we are, like he has come before us and paved the way and like has blessed us more than we ever could have imagined. And so to stay obedient to that path, even when by nature and by our own like doing we say, oh, that's hard. Or I don't like that decision. Let me just stay here, let me keep processing it in my head and not make a step forward. Like you can't do it. Like, you gotta look outside of what your abilities are and trust in what God has in store for you. Because if you can stay obedient, which that's been my word for the years, like obedience. And it hit me hard because we've had to be obedient to quite a lot of drastic, hard, hard decisions this year and it's only halfway through the year. So I don't know. I just like we share this one because a lot of people are nosy and two, we do want to be open and we do want to share our story and what's happening. But it takes time to be able to lead, to be able to talk about it correctly. Like you can't talk about the hurt in the middle of the hurt because.

You don't know what the out. You don't know what's happening. You have time to process that hurt and that change and then talk about it so that you can help someone in a scenario of the same way. Otherwise you're not going to be helping anyone because you're still hurting or you're still in the pit and you're just going to drag each other down. So you know, we've been talking about change for a while and knowing what these things that we are praying for and doing. But you know, we do not have a house yet that we are moving to. We are just confident and know that God has called us to move and that we are looking and have our eyes set on one or two and that we're kind of like going back and forth with. And so in a perfect world I'm asking God, please let it be before school so that I can get everyone switched over, not switch between schools. But you know it's going to be up to him.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. So when we get there. So yeah, we don't have any. Any specific location right now that we're like, yep, this is right where we're moving. We have a house yet. We don't. We don't really have any of those things yet. We know that's coming and we're.
Unnamed Speaker
Yeah, and I do that.
Unnamed Caller
That'll all come through.
Unnamed Speaker
I do. I think I got hit the other day too, with, like, a little bit of, like. Like, God reality. Like, listen, woman, stop getting on the high horse of having fun shopping for houses and looking for houses when you need to wrap this other stuff up, you know? And so there's been a lot of, like, loose ends and things I've had to tie up with, like, grace and be and. And whatnot and still have more to do. But there's been some dates that I have, like, pushed and pushed and, like, trying to hold on to because it's hard to let go and say goodbye in a sense. But I really do feel that he's been like, you gotta close this chapter before I open the next one, and I'm not gonna give you more until you've completed what I've called you to do. And so, you know, I know the time's coming, and I do feel like we're in a good place with, like, you know, praying about this one house that we really want to work out. And it's not. It's. It's amazing. And I. And we love it, but it's not. It's not our bougie normal.
Unnamed Caller
Yeah. I mean, we're making some decisions.
Unnamed Speaker
Okay. And I'm saying I'm kind of ready for. I'm kind of ready for. That I'm kind of ready for.
Unnamed Caller
It's a bit of a fixer upper is the one that we're looking at right now, but.
Unnamed Speaker
Oh, and I love it so much, and.
Unnamed Caller
But it's got a lot of character and so that we kind of see, like a. We see the upside of it of, like, what it could be. It's not nearly that right now, but one.
Unnamed Speaker
So we have, like, two houses. So, like, one of them has the pool and. And place for, like, podcasts and like a whole nother, like, all the things, like a two in one type thing. But this other one we really love and really feel like that's where God wants us. It doesn't have a pool. It doesn't. It needs some work. I don't know. Like, I just. I felt when we both walked through that home, I was like, this is it. And I told you, I was like, this is the home, Like, I feel it. This is the home.
Unnamed Caller
The kids may see it. What?
Unnamed Speaker
Wait. Which is so funny to say. I feel that because I don't have feelings, but my in tuneness with God is like, just. It's been like a lot of prayer and a lot of like, meditating on, like, this, seasons of like, all this change. And so I'm very thankful for that and being able to do and have conversations like this with people who can pray for us and constantly, like, ask us, like, how are you doing? What. What's the process? Where are you at with work? Where you at with your family, where you're at with your kids, where you're at with your. Your house stuff? Where you at with the moving? Like, how beautiful it is to have a community of people that you can do that with. And so if you out there need something like that, I'm going to tell you to. One, start praying for those friends. Second, start encouraging yourself to step outside of a bubble. Put yourself in an uncomfortable situation. Maybe that means going to a church. Maybe that means going into a small group of, like, Christian people that you might feel uncomfortable and be vulnerable with. We are meant to do life in community, and it's in its a life that is worth living. Worth living because, yes, I have a husband. Yes, we have our family. We have our. Our. Our. Our extended family and all that. And it's beautiful to have a family and have that type of, like, community sport. But to do life outside of that with another family, our Christian family and our church family that you can walk life with, it's very much of a blessing. Very much a blessing to that. So true. Anyways, any other bombs you want to drop today or.
Unnamed Caller
No, I'm good.
Unnamed Speaker

Hosts: Adam and Danielle Busby
In Episode 38 of "More Than Reality," hosts Adam and Danielle Busby delve into a significant and heartfelt discussion about their decision to leave their longtime home and close their store, Grace and B. This episode serves as a transparent look into the challenges they've faced, the reasons behind their move, and the impact on their family and business.
Danielle:
"We've been dealing with building issues for over three years, constantly facing problems like leaks and sewage smells that forced us to cancel events and hurt our revenue" (03:50).
The couple shares their longstanding struggle with the physical location of their store, Grace and B., in League City, Texas. Persistent maintenance issues and the landlord's negligence led to operational disruptions, causing significant financial strain and emotional stress.
After enduring continuous building problems and failed attempts to resolve them with the landlord, Adam and Danielle consulted with an attorney who advised them to terminate their lease due to the landlord's neglect.
Adam:
"From flat-out complete negligence on the part of the landlord, we've got to just move out" (42:03).
They explain the legal steps they took to terminate the lease, emphasizing that their actions were within contractual rights. However, this decision led to misunderstandings in the community, with some perceiving them as being evicted or not paying rent, which Danielle addresses with clarity.
Closing Grace and B. was not just a business decision but also a deeply emotional one. The closure meant dealing with outstanding debts and the challenge of finding a new space amidst a rising housing market.
Danielle:
"Having to abruptly terminate that, you don't just, you know, obviously it takes years to, like, pay off building loans and all this stuff that we haven't fully" (48:03).
The emotional toll of leaving a place they had invested so much time and energy into is evident. Danielle discusses the difficulty of letting go and the community's reaction to their departure.
Adam and Danielle attribute their decision to move to divine guidance, believing that God is steering them toward a better path for their family.
Adam:
"We feel a call that God is like, removing us from right here… moving to a more tight-knit community" (51:32).
They express confidence that relocating will provide a more intentional and spiritually aligned environment for raising their children. The move is seen as a step of obedience to their faith, trusting that God has a plan for their family's growth and well-being.
Announcing such a significant change undoubtedly affects their six daughters. Danielle emphasizes the importance of guiding their children through the transition with honesty and reassurance.
Danielle:
"It's hard for the kids to kind of like accept that… but being vulnerable with the kids… this is what we're doing as a family" (54:11).
She shares a conversation with their teenager, Blake, highlighting her role in providing comfort and assurance that their family will thrive despite the upheaval.
Throughout the episode, the hosts reflect on balancing their business endeavors with their personal responsibilities. Danielle acknowledges the overlap between their podcast, business, and family life, striving to maintain authenticity and intentionality in all areas.
