All right, so I wanted to give.
Daniel Busby
A little extra bonus to this little Christmas episode. And I had something done that Daniel has no, no idea about.
Danielle Busby
I know. I'm so confused right now.
eBay Announcer / Podcast Intro
This is More Than Reality podcast, where we dive into all things faith, family and marriage and share that there is so much more than reality that you see on the surface. Welcome to More Than Reality with Adam and Danielle Busby.
Adam Busby
What's up?
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
Hello. Hello.
Adam Busby
Merry Christmas.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
Merry Christmas. Thank you for listening to More Than Reality podcast. Today's episode is going to be a little bit different, shorter, slower, a little bit from the heart. And as we step into Christmas today, we just wanted to pause and say thank you. Thank you.
Adam Busby
Thanks for listening, for sharing episodes, for sending messages, and for letting us be a part of your lives. We know that there are a million podcasts out there to choose from and the fact that you choose to spend your time with us, it means more than you know. Yeah, obviously is like a little bit of a different episode just because it is Christmas and we didn't really want to miss a week. But it's not that, like we have any obligations, like this episode has no sponsor or anything like that. It's not because of that. It's just like, you know, this is like a commitment that we made to.
Daniel Busby
Yeah.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
And it's the last one of the.
Adam Busby
Year to have and you know, we love being here and having this platform. And you know, I've shared all these memories, you know, over the last, like year plus now and you know, we're just truly thankful that like, we have this, you know, as like the sounding board of just, like, our life and, you know, something a little bit different format where we can just speak in our own words.
Daniel Busby
And so, like, you know, we're just.
Adam Busby
Truly grateful and thankful, you know, for. For the community that we've built here.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
And it is. I mean, like, this year has just been full. It's been full of joy and growth and challenges and stretching seasons and moments that require, like, faith, even when the outcome wasn't even, like, as clear. And if you're honest, we know many of you are walking through your own full season, too. So some of you are celebrating this Christmas with hearts overflowing. Some of you are holding joy and grief all at the same time. And some of you are just tired physically, emotionally, spiritually. And some of you are just doing the best to make it through the holidays and wherever you find yourself today. We want you to know that this space was created for you.
Adam Busby
Yeah. More than reality has always been about real conversations. Not the highlight real. Not the filtered version of our life, but the moments between the ones where faith gets tested, where our marriage is refined, and where parenting humbles you, and where God meets you in ways you don't expect.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, totally.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
So one of the things I love most about Christmas is that it reminds us that God doesn't wait for life to be perfect before he shows up. Right. And story of our lives. Jesus wasn't born into comfort. He wasn't welcomed by a quiet, peaceful world. He came into a mess, into chaos, into uncertainty. And I think that that matters, especially for those of us who feel like life doesn't look the way that we thought it would right now. If this season feels loud, if your plans are changed, if your prayers look different than you hoped, if your heart feels tender or heavy, Christmas reminds us that God is still present right here.
Adam Busby
The miracle of Christmas isn't just that Jesus was born. It's that God chose to be with us, Emmanuel. God with us. Not God after we figured it out, not God when we have it all together. God with us in the middle of real life.
Danielle Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
And sometimes the greatest gift we can receive or give ourselves is permission to slow down, to breathe, to be present, and to release expectations.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
You don't have to do everything. You don't have to make it perfect. You don't have to carry it all. If all you can offer this Christmas is a quiet prayer, a deep breath or a whisper, thank you or help me, that is enough. God meets us there.
Adam Busby
We also want to say thank you.
Danielle Busby
Thank you.
Adam Busby
Thank you for trusting us with your stories. The messages we receive, the ones about marriage, faith, parenting, loss, hope, they remind us that none of us are walking alone. You know, it's. It's stories that, you know, you've shared with us because of stories that we've brought up, experiences in our life, and, you know, you've helped foster this community, you know, with us. And, you know, you guys were right there with us, and it. It's such an encouragement to just hear your stories, hearing, you know, the stories that. How we've encouraged you guys. But, you know, at the end of the day, like, you guys encourage us so much just by being here and.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
Continuing to listen and comment and respond and just everybody who just listens to this, who downloads, who listens, who's. Who watches this on YouTube, you know, you are real, just like us. And just like us, you're real people. So thank you for growing with us, for giving us grace, for showing up week after week, for encouraging us even when we didn't realize how much we needed it. This podcast exists because of you, and we don't take that lightly. As we close today, our prayer for you is simple, that this Christmas is filled with peace, even if everything isn't perfect, that you feel seen even in the quiet moments that you remember. You are deeply loved by God and by community.
Adam Busby
And as we head into the new year, we're expectant. Not because we know what's coming, but because we know who walks with us into it.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
From our family to yours, Merry Christmas. Thank you for being part of More Than Reality. We can't wait to continue this journey with you.
Daniel Busby
Yeah.
Adam Busby
We love you guys.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
We love you guys.
Adam Busby
All right, so I wanted to give.
Daniel Busby
A little extra bonus to this little Christmas episode, and I had something done that Daniel has no, no idea about.
Danielle Busby
I know. I'm so confused right now.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
And, Adam, this is so weird, because the fact that you're, like, showing me something or telling me something or whatever.
Danielle Busby
This is happening is actually a surprise.
Daniel Busby
She has no clue.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
I don't think ever once in our.
Danielle Busby
Whole life together you've ever kept anything a surprise.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
And he's like, I need to see your reaction. Record it.
Danielle Busby
And I'm like, what is going on?
Daniel Busby
So, I mean, yeah, we exchanged gifts and stuff. We usually don't do anything big, but, like, Danielle's birthday is two days before Christmas, so, like, I'll get her stuff for her birthday. And then there's a couple things that I, like, didn't give her for her birthday just to let her open on one Christmas, too. But there Was, like, this one thing, and I just wanted you to do, like, a little reaction video of your last gift. It's a little corny. Ultra specific.
Danielle Busby
I'm so confused.
Adam Busby
But I'm gonna play it.
Daniel Busby
Play it over the air.
Danielle Busby
What is happening?
Daniel Busby
Super specific. It's a little cheesy.
Danielle Busby
Okay.
Daniel Busby
But I had a song written. Here we go. I'm gonna start it.
Danielle Busby
Who wrote it? Did you write it?
Daniel Busby
I had a hand in it.
Danielle Busby
Oh, gosh. This is. This is.
Daniel Busby
There's a few spots in it. It's, like, way too specific.
Danielle Busby
Okay.
Daniel Busby
And those are a little cheesy, but. All right, here we go.
Danielle Busby
Have you heard this?
Daniel Busby
Yeah, I've heard it. You ready?
Danielle Busby
Maybe.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
God brought us together at Target. That morning you worked in the photo lab and I was in electronics. We began babysitting kids and spending time together.
Danielle Busby
Babysitting.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
That's when I realized love was crazy. Quietly growing d God's greatest blessing is you. For he gave me you. You prayed with me through every hard moment. After waiting so long, God answered our prayer. Your faith kept us going through.
Daniel Busby
Good thing you have your cozy earth bamboo PJs.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
Waiting was tough, yet God never left us. Our first daughter came and changed everything. Then five more girls arrived. A blessing we hadn't expected. Six daughters now, 1 14, 5, 10 years old, and. Yeah, you hold this.
Danielle Busby
My names never sound so beautiful.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
Sacrificing your health and career. God's grace shines through all the love you give. Through your ministry. The heart of her shines bright. You gave up your dreams to care for us. Sleepless nights and long days became your life. God gave you strength when it felt too much.
Danielle Busby
Seriously sweaty.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
Your love is the reason we keep going. Daniel, I love you more than words can say. You are the glue that holds us tight. I thank God daily for your faith and love. Jesus shines in all that you give.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
Wow.
Danielle Busby
I don't even know what to say.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
I'm sweating so bad right now.
Danielle Busby
It's uncomfortable, but it makes me, like. I don't know. It's like I'm not crying, but, like, I'm sweating. Who did that?
Daniel Busby
Huh?
Danielle Busby
Did Chat GBT do that? Is that your voice? Did you get voice lessons for me? That's.
Daniel Busby
Can we perform it?
Danielle Busby
Yeah. Okay. Blake's keyboard, too. That was interesting. I mean, it's beautiful.
Daniel Busby
Specific.
Danielle Busby
Very specific and cheesy, but it still is pretty.
Daniel Busby
Yeah. I found this guy online that, like, writes custom songs. Like, you have to, like, fill out a bunch of stuff and tell, talk about your story and stuff. And. And then, like, a week later, you get the song.
Custom Song Narrator / Singer
Nice.
Danielle Busby
That's hilarious. Good job, babe. So need to play it for the kids. Yeah, we're gonna play it in the car.
Daniel Busby
I was, like, testing it on the board a while ago, and Ava came in to. For me to help her with something, and I played it for her. She's like, that's a pretty song, D.
Danielle Busby
Never heard my name. So beautiful.
Daniel Busby
I know.
Danielle Busby
Yeah. So thank you, babe. That's beautiful. Let's play it for the kids. And I want to see their reaction too.
Daniel Busby
All right, so that is. That wraps up this Christmas episode. Thank you guys for tuning in, and we will see you in 2020.
Danielle Busby
Like, I still don't know what to say. Like, because I'm like. And it just. It needs a second to, like, really, like, let me hear it again.
Liberty Mutual Announcer
No.
Danielle Busby
Just like. I don't know. It's weird. One, it's something I never would have ever thought you would have ever done. And then two, it's. It's pretty.
Daniel Busby
So it's. That's funny. It's weird sweating so much.
Danielle Busby
Yeah, it makes me feel weird.
Daniel Busby
No, it doesn't. Like all the attention.
Danielle Busby
I don't like that attention. But thank you, babe. That was beautiful.
Daniel Busby
All right, we will see you in 2026.
Danielle Busby
Oh, my gosh. Yes.
Co-host (possibly Danielle or Adam alternating)
