The north wind was picking up something fierce as it surged down through the canyon, beating on my small cabin at the foot of a lofty ochre sandstone cliff. How brutal was this storm going to be? From the looks of the deep blue-gray clouds rushing in above my skylights, it was going to likely dump a lot of frozen precipitation, the heavy wet stuff.
