In this episode, I sit with one of the hardest Stoic ideas to live by: the sphere of choice. Epictetus draws a sharp line between what belongs to us—our judgments, intentions, and actions—and everything else we spend our lives worrying about. I explore what it looks like to actually confront that boundary when life feels aimless, heavy, and stripped of direction.I speak honestly about drifting through my days without a clear purpose, about surviving rather than striving, and about how fear of regret, failure, and repeating past mistakes has left me hesitant to choose anything at all. I reflect on how much of my exhaustion comes from placing importance on outcomes, identities, and circumstances that were never truly mine to control in the first place. This episode also touches on addiction, distraction, and attachment—both obvious and subtle—and how they quietly pull attention away from what I still have power over. Even after years of studying Stoicism, I admit how difficult it is to stop blaming circumstances, the world, or even my past self, instead of taking responsibility for the judgments I’m making right now. What I come back to, again and again, is this: even if I can’t find a grand purpose, even if the future feels unclear, I still have my choices. I may not control outcomes, stability, or how others act—but I do shape my character through how I respond. This episode isn’t about having answers. It’s about learning to stop fighting reality, to release claims over what isn’t mine, and to begin practicing responsibility without self-punishment.If you’ve been feeling stuck between knowing what you should focus on and struggling to actually do it, this episode is a reminder that steadiness doesn’t come from fixing life—it comes from tending to the small, difficult work of choosing well, one day at a time.Say Hello Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!Mediations and Prompts influenced from The Daily Stoic Books Please if you enjoy this content checkout Ryan's work

Say Hello In this episode of Navigate the Day, I dive into the difficult truth that sometimes, life feels devoid of meaning. I've been grappling with the idea of purpose and how easily it can slip through our fingers during moments of emotional exhaustion. Stoic philosophers like Marcus Aurelius and Epictetus remind us that struggle and obstacles are not signs of failure, but rather opportunities for growth. "The obstacle on the path becomes the way," as Marcus says, and through adversity, we forge our character and resilience. This week, I’ve felt a deep disconnect from the principles that once anchored me. The Stoic teachings about inner peace, reframing challenges, and cultivating virtue no longer seem to fit my reality. I often find myself questioning if there’s anything worth trying for. Is it possible to find meaning again when it feels like everything is crumbling around me? How do I move forward when each attempt feels like a setback?I’ve been exploring these questions and sharing some of my personal struggles. I talk about the exhaustion of trying to begin anew when it feels like nothing ever truly changes. The discomfort of accepting life's unpredictable nature and the pain of unmet expectations weigh heavily on me. Yet, I hold onto the Stoic belief that our journey through hardship shapes who we are becoming, even when it’s hard to see the purpose in the struggle. If you’ve ever found yourself wondering if the path ahead will ever make sense or if it’s worth facing another day, this episode is for you. Together, we explore how the struggle itself can offer a deeper understanding of ourselves, and why even in the most challenging moments, the fight for meaning and purpose is never truly in vain. I’ll also touch on my personal journey through loss, inner turmoil, and the battle against self-doubt, as I try to reconcile the person I am with the person I’m meant to become.Join me for a raw and reflective conversation on finding hope and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.Thank you for listening and joining me on my journey of self-discovery!Mediations and Prompts influenced from The Daily Stoic Books Please if you enjoy this content checkout Ryan's work

Say Hello Hey there, friends! In today’s episode, we’re diving into a profound idea inspired by the timeless wisdom of Marcus Aurelius: the rhythm of life. In his Meditations, he reflects on the unchanging cycles of human existence—how empires rise and fall, how joy and struggle come and go, all as part of an eternal rhythm. He challenges us to embrace this predictable flow, not with despair, but with acceptance and purpose. For me, this past week has been a dance between finding my footing in the rhythm and stumbling through moments of doubt and grief. I’ve been reflecting on how I spend my time, what distractions I lean on, and how fear has held me back from living with courage and authenticity. It hasn’t been easy to face these truths, especially as I wrestle with feelings of loss and loneliness. But through these reflections, I’m learning that aligning myself with life’s natural rhythm—accepting its cycles and focusing on what I can control—might just be the key to moving forward.Today, I’ll share some personal stories, struggles, and lessons learned as I work to stay in step with life’s beat. Together, let’s explore how we can live more intentionally, embrace the moment, and find peace in the constant rhythm that connects us all.
