And Enoch, also the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these. So Enoch prophesied. What do you prophesy about? He prophesied of these, who's the these? Right. Remember the context of Jude. Who's the writer and who's he writing to? You got to always understand that in these books Jude is writing to the church and saying in verse three, beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation. Just going to write about common salvation. Then I had to change and I had to write unto you and exhort you that you should earnestly contend for the faith, the people who were already in faith. He was saying, I had to write to you that you would earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints. Because verse 4. There are certain men crept in unaware, who were before of old, ordained to this condemnation. Ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness. So now. So now here we are in verse 14. These are the these that are spoken of by Enoch. Enoch also the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these. Look at verse eight. Who are these? These filthy dreamers. Verse ten. But these speak evil of those things which they know not. But what they know naturally as brute beast. In those things, they corrupt themselves. Verse 12. These are spots in your feast of charity. So we're all on the same page of who's Being spoken of fakers in the church that are taking people astray, turning the grace of God into lasciviousness. And because of that, people have to earnestly contend for the faith because there's fakers in the church. So we're back to 14. We're going to focus on 14 and 15. This dude, Enoch. Not a lot in the Bible about Enoch you're going to see that. But the little bit that there is, it's profound. And Enoch, also the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, behold, the lord comes with 10,000 of his saints to execute judgment upon all and to convince all that are ungodly among them. Of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him. Remember the context in verse four, it was ungodly. Crept in in verse 15, it's ungodly among them. We're all good. This is all about in the church. Ungodly in the church. Right. If you miss that context, you missed everything. In the book of Jude. Again, we talk about, like, it's very rare to hear a sermon on Jude in the church. Maybe this is why. Maybe we should have more transparency and have these sermons out of Jude to kind of explain this stuff to the people here. But here we go on 14. Enoch, also the seventh from Adam. So we don't have a lot about Enoch, so we have to pull out a lot about the little bit that we got. So enoch is the seventh from Adam. You can see that in Genesis 5. I think it's Genesis 5 starting in 1. It lays out the whole lineage through Seth. Right, But. But that's the Enoch we're talking about. Enoch, the seventh from Adam. And it's actually kind of intriguing. Chuck. Chuck from Guam got us this book. It opens up like a. Did you see the big green book we got from Chuck?
JJ
Yeah, yeah.
Matt
It opens up like an accordion. And it tells like the whole timeline of life. And if you want it, the shop. And it shows, like, not just the church, but even the natural realm. It shows all these timelines. Well, in the timeline with Adam, it shows Adam, Seth, and it goes straight through all the way to Enoch. It shows the timeline, bro. The. The timeline with Adam and Enoch overlap. They overlap, bro. So I'm like. I don't know. I like to think about, did Enoch go to Adam? Was he like. Was like, dude, what was he like? You know what I'm saying? And then Adam was like. He probably got that question a lot by the time it came down to, like, his seventh descendant, he's like, yeah, man, it's good, you know? And then Enoch's like, no, no, Adam. And I'm like, Like, what was he like? You know what I'm saying? And then Adam realizes Enoch's the real deal, right? He says, enoch. Like, you don't understand, dude. It was like. It was crazy before the Fall, man. Like, it was like. It was crazy. Like, me and Eve, like, we operated in other dimensions. Like, now we're stuck in the three dimensions. Like, fourth if you count time. Like, we're just. We're just stuck in this. These dimensions right now. But Enoch, like, I can't even explain what used to happen, like, before the Fall. Like, I can try to put in words for you, but, like, I can't even go there, bro. Like, we fell so far from what we had. Like, you know, now we're, like, stuck in these skin suits and stuff. It's just. It's very different. It's very different, man. I can't even explain. And he's. You know. And then, you know, I could just see Enoch just being like, no, no, but, like, what was he like? Like, Like, Adam, you were talking face to face with him, right? He's like, yeah, Enoch, we could move at the speed of thought. Like, right now, y' all only use, like, 10 of your brain. We used to use 100 of our brain. Like, there was so much we could do, man. And then Enoch, she's like, yeah, yeah, but what was he like? Like, what was it like? Like, you were. You were interacting face to face with him. Like, what was it you. You know? And then I could see Adam being like, dude, I used to play catch with him. Like, I used to play catch, man. He taught me how to ride a bike. Like, I don't know. I. I don't know exactly like, what the stuff was back then, but it was like, that type of stuff. And Adam's, like, talking to Enoch, and Enoch's like, no, dude. Like, I. I have to know this. I have to know this one. I have to know God.
JJ
I was like, his dad.
Matt
Yeah, man, but it's just wild to think about, like, Enoch is this very different dude in the day that he lived in. So it's very intriguing to just kind of think about, like, what made him like that. Like, did he go talk to Adam? I don't know, but I like to daydream about that stuff. Stuff. You know what? I'm not starting a new denomination based on that. I'm just saying, like, I. I think we should think about these things, man. Okay, so we're going to get into the life of Enoch, right? We're gonna. We. We have to start in Hebrews 11, just like we did last week. We were getting into Cain and Abel, so we did Hebrews 11:1 4. Well, the life of Enoch. Like I said, there's not a ton about Enoch in the Bible, man, so you got to pull out what you can from each of these passages. So, remember last week we Talked about Hebrews 11. 1. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Right? We talked about that last week. So faith is evidence, right? It's. It's. We're not just Christians because our parents were Christians and our grandparents were Christians. Like, that's not. That's. That's not what we're doing. Like, we have evidence. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Right? We already went over that last week, so we're not going to deep dive into that. But let's just read it in order. If we jump from one straight to verse five. Now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. By faith, Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found because God had translated him. For before his translation, he had this testimony that he pleased God, but without faith, it is impossible to please him. For he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. So right out the jump, we got to deal with this thing by faith. By faith, Enoch was translated. So faith makes stuff happen. This. This wasn't random. Faith makes stuff happen. This. This wasn't just some random turn of events. And God was like, oh, just grab Enoch, man. I'll pick him. I choose him. I'll take him by faith. Enoch was translated. It's not random. And faith makes things happen. Like, we have to be aware of that. This is an intriguing thing, too. It says that by faith, Enoch was translated that he should not see death and was not found.
JJ
Like Moses.
Matt
Sorry. Yeah, I'm just saying, like, imagine if there was a dude today who's like, famous and just maybe the dude. Elon. They're like, yeah, we can't find him. And they're like, okay, well, where is he? They're like, well, I don't know. Like, his family doesn't know where he's at. Like, nobody can find. Like, okay, where's his body? Did somebody kill Him? Like, Like. Like, no, no. We just. Nobody can find him. Like, imagine in that day, just Enoch just wasn't found. Like, like, they just had to put pieces together, and somehow they figured out, like, God took them.
JJ
That's kind of crazy, right?
Matt
Yeah, it's wild. But this is the word of God, dude. Like, what we believe is wild stuff. All right, the big thing I want to get into right here in verse six, but without faith, it is impossible to please God. That's a wild statement, because at the end of verse five, it says that Enoch pleased God. I think that's a good life goal. I think people were like. They think about, like, life goals, and, like, I want my 401k to have this many commas and zeros, and I want to have, like, this many pieces of real estate, or I want to have, like, this much stuff and this many things. Like, I think it's a good life goal to please God. Like, that's his testimony. His testimony was that he pleased God. But verse six is like, this is like a life verse, dude. You could live your life on this verse, man. Without faith, it's impossible to please God. For he that comes to God must believe that he is. That he is God. And then this is, like, a staggering statement, and you have to believe that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. So this is so, first off, you have to believe that he's a rewarder. Do people understand that? That God's a rewarder. Without faith, it's impossible to please God. For he that comes to God must believe that he is and that he is a rewarder. So we. So we got to believe that. Like, and you do need to think about, like, what reward are you seeking today? I think. I think we need to, like, understand that, know ourselves enough to say, like, what exactly is the reward I'm seeking today? Because I think it's common in America to, like, be seeking the American dream, be seeking money, which doesn't mean we're all bad people. It's just that's the culture we're born into. I mean, we are all technically bad people until we're saved by grace, through faith. But nevertheless, you're, like, going after these rewards. And I think we need to be mindful of what is the reward that we're going after and how are we going after it. So God's a rewarder, and who's the rewarder of those. Those that diligently seek reward? No, who?
JJ
Those that diligently seek him.
Matt
Boom, boom. So this is where like the so called prosperity gospel goes astray, right? Because it's like seeking prosperity, seeking reward. Like, that's not the game. The game is he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Not his benefits, not his benefits. It's like people struggle with that. Like, do you really want God or do you just want the benefits that come from God? Look at Matthew 6, 5 and 6. I'll get there quick. And then I think we're in Matthew 7 right after that. So we'll be close. And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites. Remember, we've talked about this before. Jesus has no problem with like name calling. Like, when people get offended. Today he's not worried if he offends you, which is a big deal, dude. Because people are like, what Jesus is doing is he's saying, you got a rattlesnake in your backpack. People are like, I don't want to know about the rattlesnake in my backpack. I just want to reach in there and grab my lunchables and my little food and my little snacks and my little animal crackers. Don't tell me that there's a rattlesnake in my backpack. God doesn't care if it offends you. He's going to tell you, you got a rattlesnake in your backpack. And if you're offended by that, then good luck with everything. And when you pray, you shall not be as the hypocrites, because they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corner of the streets that they may be seen of men. We're gonna get into this, actually next week's gonna get heavy into this, like, desiring the appraisal of man, which this system today is very much built on that. Like, how many views do you get? How many of the likes do you get? How many of the tweets do you get? Like 80,000. Yeah, our whole system is based on like this big thing of like, like liking. Like, I remember when the Instagram first came out and it was like the likes. It's just, I just come from a place of like, who cares if people likes it or not? Like, what does this mean? Like, the whole, the whole context is like, you post a thing and then people say if they likes it or not. Like, what is. Think about what that's building in our society that you're trying to do a thing to get humans to likes it. Like, that's just so strange. It's so strange to Me and. And it's. And it's in contrast to the word of God, right? We got to be careful that we're not doing stuff for the reaction of man. But here's what Jesus says, man. He says, they love praying in front of everybody that they may be seen of men. Watch what he says. He doesn't say they don't get a reward. He says, verily I say unto you, they have their reward. Their reward is that they are big shots, man. Society thinks they're big shots. He says, yeah, no problem. That's what you want. You want the praise of man. You got it. That's your reward. You won't have any reward in the eternal realm, but you get your reward on the earth. People think you're a big shot, good job. But you, when you pray, enter into your closet, and when you shut the door, pray to your Father, which is in secret. And your Father, which sees in secret, shall reward thee openly. I mean, this is a big thing, dude. Doing stuff in secret. Doing stuff, seeking God, where it's just you and him. That's a big deal. That's a big deal. All right, let's look at Matthew 7, starting in. Starting in verse 7.
JJ
Ask and it shall be given to you. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you.
Matt
That's heavy, man. I just want to say this, like, the nature of the kingdom of God, it's like. It's very intentional. It's very exploratory, if that's a word. Exploratory. Yeah. It's like you're. You're very much into exploring. You're curious. You're going, like, the scripture talks about having, like, a childlike nature, except you become converted and become his little children. You shall not enter into the kingdom of God. You shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. I think it says in Matthew 18, like, you gotta keep this childlike nature and this curiosity and, like, going, asking, seeking, knocking. Remember how curious you were when you were a kid and, like, everything around every corner was cool. You have to keep that. You cannot let the monotony of life just take you down to where you're just like, go to the job, punch in, punch out, mow the lawn, wash the car, do the American thing, play on the phone, do the stuff. Like, you can't do that. You can't let it drag you down like that. You have to keep, like, that childlike nature. You're very intentional. You're exploring. You have a sense of adventure. You can't lose Your sense of adventure, that's a major theme of the Bible. You have to keep a sense of adventure. And when you go into the scripture, that's what you're doing, man. You're exploring like a treasure hunter that goes into jungles and stuff. You're doing that. But you're doing it in the word of God, like you're doing that. So ask, seek, and knock, right? These can't be done in fear. These are all things that had to be done in faith. Nobody's doing these things. And they're afraid of life, right? Ask and it shall be given you. Seek and you shall find. Knock and it shall be opened unto you. Because everyone that asks, this is it. Remember, he's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him, right? And now. And now God's telling you, ask, seek, and knock. Why? Because everyone that asks receives. Like the ball's in your court. He that seeks, finds. That's what we're saying in Hebrews, man. He's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. And now here's Jesus saying, he that seeks, he will find. Into him that knocks, it shall be opened. What man is there of you? If his son asks for bread, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you're being. If you then being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father, which is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him? God's saying, like, I'm just like your dad, but better. Like, you're like, you're asking me for stuff. Yeah, I want to give it to you. Like, I want to give it to you. Therefore, all things, whatsoever you would that men should do to you, do even to them. For this is the law and the prophets. He's really saying, like, this is the nature of God. He's like that to treat other people the way you want to be treated. Enter in at the straight gate. Because wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction. In many there be which go in there at, because straight is the gate and narrow is the way which leads into life. And few there be that find it. Because straight is the gate and narrow is the way. Remember, Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life. That's John 14:6. Jesus is the way there. There is no other way to the Father, because straight is the gate and narrow is the way which leads unto life. And few there be that find it. So if we Want to be on the way. We want to be with Jesus. Jesus is the way, right? This is tying into. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. He is the way. He's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him, not his benefits. A lot of people can get caught up in, like, being a Christian for the benefits, but not necessarily, like, seeking God. Right? All right, let's get into this. Let's get into the seeking God concept, right? Isaiah 45, 15 says, you are a God that hides yourself. You are a God that hides yourself. So this is this wild thing. We got to unpack this a little bit. It's like he's leaving breadcrumbs, right? He's not just hiding, like, for the sake of hiding. He's, like, leaving breadcrumbs. Look at John 12, 35 and 36. I just want to show you. Like, this is kind of the nature of Jesus.
JJ
Then Jesus said unto them, yet a little while is the light with. With you.
Matt
While. Walk.
JJ
While you have the light.
Matt
I want to. I want to pause on walk just for one second because we're going to talk about in a little bit how Enoch walked with God. So just keep that in your back pocket. Walk, right?
JJ
Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you. For he that walketh in the darkness knoweth not. Wither he goeth.
Matt
You want me to keep reading?
JJ
Oh, yeah, I'll keep going. While you have light. Believe in the light that ye may be the children of the light. This is again, that theme of children. These things spake Jesus and departed and did hide himself from them.
Matt
Did hide himself. You see what I'm saying? Like, this is the nature of God. I'm going to try to explain this in a way that's going to be a little weird, but I'm going to do it anyway. The nature of your relationship with God is like, this, man. I remember it like it's. It's kind of wild because as I was getting ready to do this, I was finding all these passages that were so big to me. Like, when I first got converted. This whole topic was very big to me in the. In the beginning. And it still is this huge thing. But I just haven't thought about it for a while. I remember, like, sitting there and thinking, like, what is this thing going on with me and God right now? Like, this is crazy how all this is happening. And it wasn't really coming through. People was just kind of coming between me and God. And I started to understand our Relationship. Like, I was in a burning building, and I was in, like, the bottom of the basement, in the farthest corner of the basement from the exits in a burning building. And was, like, dying, and smoke was just coming, and I was getting ready to take my last breath. This is really just how I was, like, seeing this in my mind, right? And then Jesus just scoops me up, dude. Like, right before I take my last breath and go, okay, I guess this is it, right? He scoops me up, throws me over his shoulder, like, gets me outside and it's nighttime. When I'm seeing this, it's, like, nighttime, right? And he, like, sets me down in the grass against this house, like, against this building. And he's like, you good? You good? Like, gives me water. Like, I remember it vividly, man. You good? You need a little water. I'm like, yeah, I'm good, man. I'm good. Everything's good, right? And then he, like, walks away. And then I'm just trying to, like, come to terms with what just happened. So I get up to, like, go after him, and it's like this scene where, like, right where the last corner where I saw him turn, like, I get to that corner, like, he's already gone. I get to that corner just in time to turn and look, and he's at the next corner, turning, and then I'm running to the next corner to, like, see him. I get there just in time to see him turn the next corner. And this just went on for a while. And I noticed, like, this is the. This is really the relationship with us in Christ, man. In the beginning, he chases you. It's like a game of tag. You know, in tag, like, you run and you gotta tag the guy, but then you gotta get away. He does that. Dude, like, you can't help yourself. You can't bring yourself to life. Like, he has to bring you to life. He has to come to you. He has to bring you to life. I remember I used to have crazy dreams before I got converted too, man. I was always in chase dreams, dude. I remembering all this just from getting ready for this, dude, I used to have the craziest chase dreams. I'd be chased in jungles. I would be chased in, like, cities, like, where you're jumping from, like, building to building and trying to go down staircases and stuff. And you're just frantically, like, stressful dreams. Especially when I was coming off Oxies. I'd have the craziest poison dreams, too, where I would just be so stressed and wake up in like, hot sweats and cold sweats and stuff. But I'm, like, always being chased in these dreams and, like, in boats, in airplanes and cars. I had so many crazy chase dreams, and then I quit getting them when I got converted, man. Like, the Lord will chase you down and save you, but the second he gets you, it's on you now. It's on you now. You're never going to not be dependent on him. Don't get me. Don't get me wrong. But now it's your job to go after him, like, tag I. And I hope that helps people. I think maybe some people that will make sense. They'll start to understand as they look at their life. They'll go, dang, man. Like, he did come after me like that. Like, God really did, like, have this whole turn of events to, like, get me, to get a hold of me. But, like, once he does, now it's on you, man. Like, now the ball's in your court. Like, you got to go after him now. And that's what this is teaching. God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him.
JJ
So you. You stopped having dreams once you started getting really serious?
Matt
No, no, not dreams. Those dreams. The chase dreams.
JJ
Gotcha.
Matt
No, then they just went into other topics. But, like, at that time, it was heavy on the chase dreams. There was a lot of other. Like, I used to have the craziest poison dreams coming off of Oxy's, but. But those I would have even when I was sober or whatever. I just always had these chase dreams, like, super stressed, just running and running and running. And then it was one day, like, years later, I was like, I'm not having those dreams anymore. I was like, what changed? And I was like, oh. Oh, that's. That's what changed. You know, in the dream, I felt like it was like this bad thing chasing me because we're enemies of God before we're converted. So it is, dude. It's like you're, like, running, and this is your enemy. You're. You're, like, terrified, and you're trying to get away. And then you realize one day, like, oh, no, he was the good guy all along. You know what I'm saying? That might be kind of, like, foolish or whatever for people, but it might make sense to some people. Like, if one or two is like, yeah, no, that's. Yeah, I understand that. That is what happened in my life, then hopefully that helps them. But there's, like, this playful nature of God, dude. There's, like, this. It's like tag. It's like tag, man. He's got this playful nature and he hides himself. Look at Proverbs 25:2. Look at Proverbs 250:2. This, this is all stuff I loved when I first got converted. I forgot about some of these passages. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter. So it's like hide and seek. He's not hiding it from you, he's hiding things for you. He's just saying that's how we're going to do this. I'm not just going to spoon feed you everything in your life. He's not doing that. He's saying, I'm gonna hide things and you need to put some effort in here. Like you need to come find this stuff. I'm gonna hide it for you. I'm gonna create a path for you. I'm gonna leave you breadcrumbs and. But you've got to go find it. It's the glory of God to conceal a thing, but the honor of kings is to search out a matter. I like that man. He wants to see some effort. All right, Deuteronomy 29:29. Again, these are all passages I loved, like when I first got converted. And I still love them now. It's just I haven't thought about them for a while. Deuteronomy 29:29 says, the secret things belong unto the Lord our God. But those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children forever. That we may do all the words of this law. That we may do all the words of what God has given us, what God has taught us through the scripture, through everything. Not necessarily like the law of Moses, although that's the context here, but the completeness of God, that we may obey him. Do you see what I'm saying? The secret things. So God's got some secret things, right? God's got some secret things. The secret things belong unto the Lord our God. There's some stuff he's not going to tell us, dude. Like for me, personally, I think it's like, like end time stuff, if you will. Right? Like, I know there's a lot of dudes today. They have the charts and the graphs and they can tell you exactly how everything unfolds. Like in the end. Exactly how. Like the, like Jesus, second coming. They lay it out like line by line. This is exactly what happens. I don't know. I don't know, man. Because that is first coming. Nobody knew what was going on. Nobody at the first coming was like, okay, born of Mary, she's a virgin. Comes into town on a donkey Doing all the miracles. Hung on a cross cruise. Yeah, check, check. Yep, that's the Messiah. I don't think anybody was like that. I. I think people were incredibly confused. So I don't know. I don't know if, like, the second Coming, anybody has it pinpointed. So to me, for me, personally, those are, like, secret things, man. But I. But I don't know, maybe the Lord will show me some of that stuff as time goes on. But right now, those are secret things. But the secret things belong to God, right? So there's some stuff that we can't really pry into. They belong to him, but those that have been revealed belong to us and to our children forever. So that's what I want. So I know there's secret things, and I know there's revealed things or downloaded things, if you will. Like, anytime you see this context of, like, revealed, it's more like a download. It's like a thing just goes into you and you understand it. Now, you're not necessarily learning from, like, cemetery school or any kind of, like, traditional educational learning. It's just been downloaded into your spirit. That's Revelation, man. It's a thing that you understand now and you own it.
JJ
It's funny that you say that term because on the show we get a lot of, I don't know, victims of whatever, alien abduction, things like that. They talk about downloads, but that's not. That's just. It's not just a demonic thing. That is just how it works in the spirit realm. It's. It's a God thing.
Matt
Atma changed his name. That's my guy, dude. I appreciate that statement, Atma. You're my guy, bro.
JJ
What do you say?
Matt
Just something nice, dude. I. I try not to read, like, when we're doing this because I don't want to get off track, but, like, that's my guy, dude. I love these guys. Elohim's my guy, too, man. But. And everybody, like, you guys all know who's my buddies and stuff out there, man. I'm just incredibly grateful for even what we're doing. Not to go on a tangent. Sorry about that. But all I'm saying is, like, if the secret things belong to God and those which are revealed belong to us, I want to push the limits. That's all I'm saying. I want to push the limits. I'd rather God be like, bro, bro, back up. Like, you're like, you're going kind of too hard right now, and you're. You're getting into the secret stuff. You're coming up against the line of the secret stuff Back up. I'd much rather him do that than be like, bro, you're lazy. Like, what are you doing? I got stuff to reveal to you, and you're busy with Facebook and TV shows and Justin Bieber and the Kardashians and you're not even coming after me to find out these revealed things. I would hate if he does that. I would much rather he say, like, bro, you went too hard. You went too hard. You pushed the line on the secret stuff. Do you see what I'm saying? So. So there's some secret stuff we're just not going to get. But I want to get the revealed stuff. I want to get the download. So we're back. So we're back to this whole, like, seeking God thing, right? We're seeking God. He's a rewarder of those who diligently seek him. Like. Like, we have to understand that. Look at Psalm 25:1 14.
JJ
Unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. Oh, my God, I trust in thee. Let me not be ashamed. Let not mine enemies triumph over me. Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed. Let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
Matt
I'm going to read it from here. Show me thy ways, O Lord. Teach me thy paths. Show me. That's like Revelation. That's like the download. Show me thy ways, O Lord. Teach me thy paths. Dude, if. If everybody tunes out, like, right after this. No problem, no problem. Just understand this, man. God will teach you. Like, this is a major concept. This is a major concept. Didn't you just say there's some famous character that said God won't teach you? You have to learn from all the people. There has to be, like, the. We need people to teach the Bible because people can't understand it.
JJ
Nick Fuentes said that.
Matt
Yeah, you just said that. You just said that yesterday. I think, yeah, he's probably a nice guy. He just had never read these passages and understood the context of the Bible. This is a major theme of the.
JJ
Bible is that he's not a nice guy. And actually this is why I think this show specifically and what you're doing is so important because he has major influence on people like aj, that, jj, that, that age group, and your son.
Matt
You know the guy. Where's JJ at? You see him?
JJ
Yeah, JJ's over here.
Matt
You know the guy that he's talking About.
JJ
Yeah, so.
Matt
So he's just. He just doesn't know this. That's okay. I've heard people say this before at church. They're like, oh, no, you can't understand it. Only people that have, like, letters behind their can understand it. That flies.
JJ
99% good, though, on a lot of things. 98% good, especially with the younger crowd. But it's that one lie that gets in there that is the most detrimental. And that's one of the things I've just been waiting. I'm watching and waiting. And that's what he did. So now we respond with straight Bible.
Matt
Yeah, the Bible's plain on this. The Bible's very plain on this. God will teach you directly. And then this is a big deal, bro. If you're like, oh, no, only the professionals can tell us what's up. Like, that's how people control people. Like, like the Bible is the exact opposite of that. The Bible is like, here you have the word of God. No one, no thing, nothing present, nothing to come, nothing anywhere in the scene or unseen realm can control you. Because you have a Bible. You have the word of God, you have access to a relationship in God. Nothing can touch you. That's what the Romans 8, like, 38 passage is about, dude. Nothing can touch you. So I. I just think, like, yeah, anybody who's saying, like, you need big shots to teach you the Bible, that's strictly a move for control. I don't know the guy you're talking about, and so I don't know if that's his deal or not. But, like, to me, if somebody's saying you need big shots to teach you the word of God, they're just saying you need people to control you. This is just a move. That's just a power move for control. Because the scripture's plain. God will teach you. And I don't think most people know this or understand this, and they think like, oh, no, I can't learn directly from God. Yeah, you can. Show me thy ways, O Lord. Teach me thy paths. Lead me in thy truth. Remember, the New Testament says, those who are led by the spirit of God, those are the sons of God. Lead me like, we're like our life should be led by God, guided by God. Lead me in thy truth and teach me again, Verse five. For you are the God of my salvation. On thee do I wait all the day. Remember, O Lord, thy tender mercy and thy loving kindness, for they have been ever of old. Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions. According to thy mercy. Remember me. Don't remember me according to like who I am. Remember me according to your mercy for your goodness sake, oh Lord. Good and upright is the Lord. Therefore will he teach sinners in the way. So you don't have to be like super righteous and just and perfect for God to teach you. That's heavy, man. That's how you can't, like, you can't even get on the path without God teaching you. Good and upright is the Lord, Therefore will he teach even the sinners in the way. The meek will he guide in judgment. All the meek will he teach his way. Look how much this is saying God will teach you. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Look at that. Balance with mercy and truth, right? Because you can, you can hit people with the sledgehammer of truth, but God balances it with mercy and truth, right? All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth. This is just like in the New Testament where it says grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies for thy name's sake, O Lord. Part of my iniquity for it's great. What man is he that fears the Lord? Let's bring, let's bring this topic up too. Like anywhere where you see in the Old Testament the fear of the Lord, that's like comparable with the New Testament where you see faith. Fear of the Lord in the Old Testament is comparable to faith in the New Testament. Those are interchangeable terms, if you will. The fear of the Lord's a. That's like a whole episode. That's like a whole two hour episode. If we get into the fear of the Lord. But it's just more like this concept of like you're on this giant building and you look over the edge and you're like, you get the butterflies in the stomach a little bit. You're like, dang, dude, that. And then you back up. You don't think the building's like coming to kill you, like, come. Like you don't think God's coming to kill. He's not your enemy. But you have this fear of God. Like you, like, you don't have a fear of the building itself, right? But you look over the edge and you're like, wow, this is heavy. Like, like this. There needs to be some reverence and there's no guardrails here. Like, I better just back up, right? I better have this healthy fear of the edge of the building. Not that the building is like trying to hunt you down, to kill you. God's. God's not doing that. He's not doing that. But we have to have this reverence and this awe of God, the fear of the Lord. Remember, faith has to do with loyalty, faithfulness. What man is he that fears the Lord to that person will he teach? See what I'm saying? Like, this is the prerequisite man, if you want to really get taught by God, really cultivate the fear of the Lord. What man is he that fears the Lord? Him shall he teach in the way that he shall choose. His soul shall dwell at ease and his seed shall inherit the earth. Remember, in Timothy it says we haven't been given the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. That's like this. His soul shall dwell at ease and his seed shall inherit the earth. The secret of the Lord is with them that fear him, and he will show them his covenant. So do you see what I'm saying? These are the secret things. But we need to understand, like, the why of why we're seeking God. To me, to me, this is. This is where this is all coming to. God is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. Right? Like, that's what we're talking about. As we seek him, he'll teach us. Like, to me that that's the why behind the seeking Him. Seeking Him. I want to be taught by him directly. Some people think this is silly, but, like, John 14:26 was a major passage for me, dude. And again, I thank God that, like, I read it and just believed it. Like, like I read this passage and I just believed it. That's all. That's all that happened. And I look back now and it is a bit of a miracle, man. Like, if I look back at, like, who I was back then and just even, like, the path of my life, like, I'm looking at and I'm saying, like, dude, it's a miracle that I read this passage and I just was like, okay, got it. I believe that. Like, I. I don't know. I guess a lot of people read this and they. Maybe they just read it fast or they read right past it, or they don't stop and think about, I don't know, I don't know. But it says this.
JJ
But the comforter which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance whatsoever I have said. Unto you?
Matt
That's kind of cut and dry, bro. I don't. I don't know how people say, oh, no, only the professionals can teach you. Unless, again, they're just trying to control the masses. Because people talk about like, oh, religion controls the masses. Well, only if they're not reading the Bible. Like. Like, people who are Bible readers cannot be controlled. They report to God. So, yeah, I just read this passage, dude, and I was like, the dumbest person I know on the planet. I'm reading this passage, and I just went like this, Okay, I guess I'll try it out. And then I would, like, read passages, and I'd be like, okay, God, I have no clue what's being said here. I don't understand anything that's being said. And I would just be like, I want to understand this. And then I would read passages a little more, and then I would start to understand it. Like, I would start to hear this explanation in my mind, and then I'd be like, okay, so I'm just having a conversation with myself in my mind. And then I'd be like, no, because I never thought that that would have never made sense to me. And I don't use words like that. Like, those words that just got said inside me that. That made me understand this passage. I don't talk like that. So this isn't just me talking to myself. And then I started to realize I was communicating with the creator of the universe. And I'm telling you, bro, like, as soon as you get to that place, the stuff of the world doesn't mean anything anymore. Like, I'm just being straight with you. As soon as you get to this place where it's not just this religion. It's not just like, oh, this is what I do, because I'm a Christian, because, like, that's cool in America right now. Because, like, I guess all the athletes are Christians now, and, like, the people in politics are Christians and the podcasters are Christians, and, like, everybody that's cool is a Christian now. No, not you guys. I'm saying, like, famous people, like, everybody, like, it's cool to be a Christian.
JJ
I mean, you.
Matt
You are. You are. I just try to take shots when I can. You start to get to this place, man, where you're. You understand that you're hearing the voice of God. It just in your communicating with them. Like, commas and zeros and bank accounts just don't mean that much anymore, man. And bigger TVs don't mean that much. And, like, fancier houses don't mean that much. And, like, excess stuff, it just doesn't matter, man. Like, you're. You're realizing, like, dude, I'm. I'm communicating with the creator of the universe, and that just takes you to another level, man. All right, so let's look at. Let's look at. Let's look at the passage that we're even, like, talking about. Genesis 5, 21:24 is a very brief but telling biography.
JJ
And Enoch lived 60 and five years and begat Methuselah. And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah 300 years and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were 365 years. And Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him. 365 years is a long time. It's also a strange time.
Matt
Oh, what do you mean?
JJ
I don't know.
Matt
That's a number. Like, your numerology thing is, like, that sets off buzzers.
JJ
Oh, yeah. 365 days. And it just sets off some sort of buzzers for me.
Matt
Okay, so again, this is really, like, all we've got in the scripture about Enoch. I know you get in the conspiracy theory realm, and Enoch's like this big character, and I'm not saying he's not in the Bible. I'm just saying it's like John the Baptist. There's not a ton of stuff written about John the Baptist, but he's a major dude, right? Enoch, there's very little here, so we have to pull out everything we can about this. Okay. One thing I really like about this dude is I. Okay. Enoch lived 65 years in Begat Methuselah and Enoch walked with God. We're going to unpack that. Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah 300 years and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were 365 years. And Enoch walked with God twice. It says it. And he was not because God took him. So I want to look at this and say, all right, what's up with this dude? Enoch, he walked with God. Like, he was so close to him that God took him. Okay, he must have, like, lived in a cave. He must have, like, lived this totally secluded life. He was not part of society. Like, yeah, he walked with God. He can. Because he didn't have all the things that I have in my life, right? Like, in my life, I got a mortgage, I got an electric bill. I got a coffee shop. I got a farm. I got all these things. It's so hard. Oh, man, life's so hard. Like, Enoch, he didn't have it like that. He just had like the smooth sailing path where he could just be like a hermit and he could just be with God. Nope, nope. It says Enoch had sons and daughters. He had a family he had to provide for, dude, Just like we do. Just like we do. He had all of the problems that we have, right? Like, you have to raise sons and daughters. That's a lot. You had to provide for them. Enoch was doing all that. That's the subtle little hint we get there, right? Like, because I think people wouldn't be like, yeah, that's this dude Enoch. But that's not me, you know, I have a normal life. Enoch had like a normal life, if you will. He had to provide for his family, just like we had to provide for our family. So we shouldn't just assume, oh, he's this super holy other guy, like different than me. Nope, nope. He's just like you not.
JJ
Enoch had. He had a chamber in one of the great pyramids named after him. This dude was doing something in Egypt. He had some major, major role to play in. In the world scale.
Matt
I wouldn't be surprised by that. I don't. The scripture doesn't say it, so I don't know a lot about outside scripture, but I wouldn't doubt that. I mean, this dude walked with God and then God took him. Like he, like he was so close to God. He's walking with God. I've heard it said like this, that God was like, hey, man, we're closer to my house now than we are to your house. You want to just come home with me? Like, like Enoch's just walking with God, bro. He's so close that God just takes him. You couldn't tell me anything about Enoch that like, that I'd be like, no, there's no way like this. This dude's on another level. It's like, it's like Elijah. We're studying in Elijah, where he gets taken, right? Stu gets taken, man. He gets translated. And some would look at it this way. I don't want to get in fights with people over this. But some would look at it this way. Enoch walked with God and God raptured him. So there's a coming devastation coming. There's a coming worldwide devastation. Wrath of God, if you will. And there's one guy who gets taken out ahead of time. He gets taken out ahead of time. There's another group that's going to ruffle some feathers. I'M just saying, some people acknowledge this, some people don't. It's all good either way. There's another group that has built something ahead of time. There's another group who's been warned of God ahead of time of the wrath to come. And they've built something ahead of time because of that. They've been warned. They're not caught off guard. They've been warned, and they've built something that the family of God is supposed to fit in. Some would say that's comparable to the church, but they've built this thing, right, that's going to survive the wrath of God, that's going to go through the wrath of God, but it's going to be protected the whole time. So it's not actually going to take the wrath of God. It's going to sail above the wrath of God, if you will. There's a flood and this thing that's been built ahead of time because they've been warned, it floats above the wrath of God. It's not touched by the wrath of God, even though it goes through the wrath of God. So some people would point that out that, that Enoch was actually raptured before the wrath of God, but another group went through it. We're not getting into all that. We're just saying there's some people that look at it that way. So Enoch walked with God, right? I just want to point out that, like, walking is intentional. Walking is something you need to. You need to do. It's a thing that's very easy unless you stop doing it. You know, like the old people, when they stop walking, it's very hard for them to start keep walking. So it's this intentional thing. There's this progression, right? We talk about Galatians where it says, walk in the spirit so you don't fulfill the lust of the flesh. There's that. There's this progression. They didn't have the concept of, like, he walked with God on a treadmill. They don't have that concept back then. Like, they're getting somewhere. They're good. Not to say you can't walk in circles, because you can. But he walked with God. All right? So. So one thing about walking with someone, you got to meet him first, right? You can't walk with somebody if you don't meet them first. If you don't know them, you. Right. You have to. You have to actually be introduced and you have to meet God to walk with him. So that's part of this. We're just trying to pull out Anything we can, because we have this very brief history. But let's unpack the walking with God thing. Do we have Micah 6, 6, 8?
JJ
Yes. Wherewith shall I come? Wherewith shall I come before the Lord and bow myself before the high God? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams? Or with 10,000 river of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
Matt
Remember last week we talked about Cain and he was bringing sacrifice, but it was meaningless because it wasn't done in faith. Micah's touching on the same topic. That's what I'm saying. The whole Bible is always saying the same thing, man. It's, it overlaps so much. He said, he says, is this what God really wants? Is like sacrifices without any guts behind him?
JJ
He has showed thee, oh man, what is good and what doth the Lord require of thee? But to do, but to do justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with thy God.
Matt
So let's unpack that a little bit, right? To do justly and to love mercy, like so much in our kingdom, is like there's an internal and an external. It's like to love mercy is this internal thing. And that's what happens externally is to do justly, to do what's right to do, to live in a just manner. But that's because it's coming from internal. It's not because you've given yourself this rulebook that you have to live a certain way. It's because you've been changed internally and your internals come out in your outside life. So there's an internal of loving mercy and an external of doing justly. But Micah says this. He says, walk humbly with God. I don't know. When you kind of unpack this, it's. It's like, understand that somebody is with you, right? If you're going to walk with God, walk humbly with God. Understand that somebody's with you as you go about your day. Understand that like in your normal life, not one day a week, during a certain hour, but in your normal life. Walk humbly with God. Be aware that one is with you as you go about your life. Be just be aware of that. Be very aware of that. I think somebody explained it before, like the Holy Spirit is like a dove. Imagine if you had a dove on your shoulder and you didn't want it to leave. Imagine how serious you would have to be about Your walk with God. Imagine how serious and intentional you'd have to be aware if you didn't want that dove to leave. That's heavy. Like, that's a heavy one, especially for us, because we joke a lot and we say crazy stuff and we push the line. And I'm grateful to be a part of this, but we definitely do that. But this is really the secret, man, to walk humbly with God. Be aware that he's with you. Like, be aware that there's a presence that's with you and live accordingly. Like, don't do stuff in secret that you think is in secret, because it's not in secret. Like, he's with you. You want to walk humbly with God. All right, how about Amos 3:1:3.
JJ
Hear this word that the Lord hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family, which I brought up.
Matt
Family. Hold on. We got a family. We're in the family of God. I didn't mean to interrupt, but that's talking about the family Israel, which I know that's going to trigger the chat, but nevertheless, that's what it says. But we are in the family of God. You know, I heard somebody say, like, think about this. If you run into somebody at church and they say, hey, man, I'm not gonna be able to pay my rent this month. Imagine if you're like, oh, you know, imagine like, what your reaction would be to that person at church. But then imagine if your little brother, your little sister said, hey, man, I'm not going to be able to make my rent this month. And imagine what your reaction would be to them. Like, the church is a family. The church is supposed to be a family. It's like whatever that reaction was to, like, your little brother or little sister. Think about that type of reaction. If somebody in church says, I'm not going to be able to pay my rent. Somebody in the body of Christ. Do you see what I'm saying? It's the family of God. Like, we're in a family now. Sorry to cut you off.
JJ
All good.
Matt
Did we ever turn on the on air sign?
JJ
Yeah. Oh, children of Israel against the whole family, which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, you only have. I know. You only have I known. Of all the families of the earth.
Matt
Triggered, they're getting triggered.
JJ
Therefore, I will punish you for all your iniquities.
Matt
They like that, though.
JJ
Yeah, we like that part. Can two walk together except they be agreed?
Matt
This is big, man. This is big. Can you walk with God except you agree we're talking about Enoch walked with God and then the scripture says, can two walk together except they be agreed? So if we want to walk with God, we have to develop his character. I know, I was just talking to somebody yesterday about the Old. The contrast between the Old Testament and the New Testament in the New Testament tells us so much about the benefits that we get that, that we gain in Christ. Whereas the Old Testament tells more of the story of God just. I don't even know how you say it, dude. Just, just in his engagement with humanity and everything that he's gone through with his people and it really makes you understand his heart. It really brings you into terms with the heart of God and who he is and everything that he's been through in his dealings with humanity. And also I think you have to understand the Old Testament, bro, for the context of who God is, for the New Testament to really mean anything. Like, think about in America, if you, if you tell American people like, God loves you, right? These are American kids who like, they grew up, their mommy and daddy loves them, they get a trophy if they come in last place. Everything is built around like giving them good self esteem. And you come along and say God loves you. They go, yeah, no kidding. Like, why wouldn't he? Like everybody loves me. Do you see what I'm saying? Do you see how that's so different from like understanding the fear of God? Like understanding the fear of God and being raised in such a way where you understand this reverential awe of God and then approaching people and saying, hey, God loves you, then maybe that's a little more meaningful. Do you see what I'm saying? But reading the Old Testament is like, you've got to, you've got to be in that to kind of cultivate and the New Testament as well. I'm not saying you don't learn the character of God. You certainly do by watching what happens at the cross and the resurrection. Of course, of course. But there's this long, long story of God's dealing with humanity in the Old Testament that you really need to cultivate his character so that you're compatible and so that you can walk with God and so that you can agree, right? Okay, so we, so we've got, so we've gone through all this. We've gone through all this. We're going to go back to Jude now. We're going to go back to Jude 1, 14 and 15. Because now we know Enoch walked with God, right? Like that's what we're getting at. And like I Said. I think I said the only other place where Enoch's really in the Bible is like in the genealogy of the Messiah, in, I think in Luke. And like, that's it. Like, these are the only places where Enoch's really spoken of in the scripture. But we know that Enoch walked with God, right? How can two walk together unless they agree, Right? So you want to ask yourself, like, what did they talk about? Right. Aren't you. Aren't you kind of curious? Like, Enoch walked with God. Like, what did they talk about? Enoch also the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, behold, the lord comes with 10,000 of his saints to execute judgment. They talked about the judgment to come.
JJ
They're talking about Jesus.
Matt
Yeah, I'm sure. I mean, he's probably talking with Jesus if he. You know what I'm saying? Like, all these times in the Old Testament.
JJ
Confusing, right?
Matt
Yeah. Where man is like, communicating with God. Like, I don't know if he's walking with them and they're talking and stuff. I'm assuming that's Jesus.
JJ
He's.
Matt
He's walking around with Enoch. There's a man in the Godhead. He's completely compatible with man. So I don't know a lot of this stuff. I look at it that it's Jesus. A lot of the stuff in the Old Testament, like Adam in the garden, communicating face to face with Jesus. Like, I don't know. I don't know if there's somebody out there who's like, no, Matt, you're wrong about that. I don't know. Maybe I am. But this. I'm just saying in my heart, like, when as I'm reading these stories, I'm picturing, he's like, yeah, he's vibing with Jesus. Like, he's talking with Jesus, but they're talking about the judgment to come. Can two walk together except they agree Enoch walk with God. And here's Enoch, he's prophesying about the judgment to come. Like, that's. I'm sure they're talking about many things, but they definitely talked about the judgment to come. This is a big deal, man. This is a big deal. This is what we have to understand. Remember, the context of Jude is fakers in the church, right? And we've gone through examples of apostasy. The whole context of Judah is apostasy. We went through Israel, we went through the angels that fell. We went through Sodom and Gomorrah, we went through Cain, we went through Balaam, we went through Korah. And these are all examples of apostasy. And Enoch is laid in direct contrast with those guys because he prophesies of the judgment to come. That's in direct contradicting contradiction and opposition to apostasy. Do you see what I'm saying? Like, apostates, dude, they love to tell you what you want to hear. That's their whole thing. Don't rock the people. Like let. Rock them. Rock them to sleep, but don't like upset them. Rock them to sleep in their little. In their little crib. Rock them to sleep, but don't rock them to the point where you wake them up, right? Don't preach at the judgment to come. He's laid out in direct opposition to apostates. That's why he's in here like that. Like that's the context of the book. He's not just looking for a reason to talk about Enoch. He's talking about apostates. And he says, let's put somebody in here who's in direct contrast to apostasy. Enoch. Why? Because he preaches of the judgment to come. So we've got this thing, right? We've got this thing where people are like, jesus the buddy, Jesus the homie, man, yeah, you just get, you just go get like salvation. You come to the front, you say a prayer and it's just like getting a Happy Meal at McDonald's, man. It's just like quick, dude, you just go through the drive thru, bro. Right?
JJ
Jesus, the little eraser.
Matt
Yeah, he's your buddy. Yeah, man, it's playtime. Let's look at Acts 10:34. I just want to drive home a point that like New Testament preaching. We're not even pulling anything from the Old Testament about the judgment of God. Let's just pull it from the New Testament. Acts 10:34,43.
JJ
Then Peter opened his mouth and said of a truth. I perceive that God is no respecter of persons. But in every nation, that he that feareth him, he worketh righteousness is accepted with him.
Matt
Okay, here's what he's saying. This is the early church. It's all Jews right now. It's all Jewish people. Peter, he's on the. He's on the roof. He gets this train. He goes into a trance and he has this vision of the sheet coming out of heaven, right, with all the animals on it. And God says, kill and eat Peter. And he says, not so, Lord. Like I, I never eat anything unclean. And he says, no, don't call anything that I've made unclean. And I love Peter because it Says he did this three times. Peter argued with God. Like, I love this dude. I'm so grateful for the dude. Peter, like, he's like, no, no, no. This is for Jews only. Like, what? Like, what do you mean, like what? Like, what do you mean? Everything's clean now. He says this three times. He gets. God tells him back three times. No, Peter, this is what's up. So at the same time, so. So Peter has that vision. Then at the same time, people knock at the door and say, hey, man, we're looking for one named Peter. They're like, what? What's up? Peter goes, what are you guys doing here? They said, hey, man. Cornelius, he had a vision of an angel a couple days ago and said to find you in this house. And here, like, we've just found you, bro. And Cornelius wants you to come tell us, like, whatever you want to tell us. Like, that's the context of this passage. That's the context. And Peter just had the vision. He just went into the trance and had the vision that everything's clean now. So these Gentiles show up at the door and say, hey, man, come tell us about this. Peter shows up at the house. He says, dang, dude, I did. I didn't realize it. God's no respecter of persons. He doesn't care what your reputation is. He doesn't care of any of. Any of that. And you don't have to be from the nation of Israel. But this is shocking to us because this whole story is about Israel. The Scriptures come from Israel. The Messiah comes from Israel. Like, what do you mean? It's not just Israel. And he's coming to terms like, oh, wait, this is for everybody now. Like, in Romans, it says, we've been grafted onto that tree. Everybody can be grafted into this. Now, the word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, He's Lord. He's Lord of all, not just of Israel. That word I say, you know, which was published throughout all Judea and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached. How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil. For God was with him. And we are witnesses of all the things which he did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, who they slew and hung on a tree. Him God raised up the third day and showed him openly, not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead were witnesses that he rose from the dead. He died. He went in the tomb and he rose from the dead. And we ate and drank with him. We've seen him. We've seen him since he came back to life. And he commanded us to preach unto the people. I'd say this next part of the sentence is very important. He commanded us to preach unto the people. To preach what? All the blessings of God, the prosperity of God, the tithing. What did he command you to preach? He commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the judge of the living and the dead. To him give all the prophets witness that through his name, whosoever believes in him shall receive remission of sins. This is what people don't get, man. This is what people don't get in the New Testament. They're preaching Jesus the judge, Enoch back in the day, and why he's different from the apostates is he preached about the judgment of God, the judgment to come. New Testament preachers are preaching about Jesus the judge. This is gone today. This is gone today. Very rare to see this. Very rare to see this. People call it hellfire and brimstone preaching, and they say they don't like it. But there's like these dudes like Jonathan Edwards that preached in the. He preached in the Great Awakening right, in New England. Jonathan Edwards, and he preached a famous sermon called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. And many people got saved because of it. He preached hellfire and brimstone. And there's a time and a place. There's a time and a place for everybody and for everything, right? There's a time and a place of the preaching. He preaches this. This. This sermon called Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God. And it's like hellfire and brimstone preaching, right? And he dealt with people like this because he loved them, right? Excuse me. He dealt with them because he loved them. And they asked his daughter one time, they said, hey, how come your dad is so rough with the people? You know what she said? She said, you don't hear them weep for their souls at night.
JJ
Damn.
Matt
I just. I don't know, man. I just think we're missing something in the church today, man. I just think that this playtime games and stuff, we're missing something. But I. But I think it's coming back. I think it's coming back, man. I think we're going into a time of like Real ones. I think there's like real ones. Like a lot of people in the chat are real ones. Like some of us just don't fit into the system today. Like this church system today. We don't know why. Maybe we think there's something wrong with us, but maybe there's not, man. Like, like, maybe there's not, dude. Like, maybe God's raising up some real ones outside of the system right now, man, that are going to get it. That are going to be like, straight Bible. They're just going to go to the Bible, they're going to read the Bible, they're going to believe that God will teach, and they're going to get it. It's not just this one example about Jesus being the judge. Look at Acts 17, 22, 31. Now this is real preaching, bro. This is real preaching.
JJ
Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars Hill and said, ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.
Matt
So he's standing among non believers in a public place, right? Be like if you're at Walmart today or I don't know, at a baseball game or at the super bowl, because this is probably like a big event. So he's in the. He. He's not, he's not preaching to people who love the comfort of their seats and they want the air conditioner at the right temp and they love the music and if they don't, they're going to tell you to change the music and make it a certain way they want. He's preaching to people that didn't come there to hear this. He's just preaching in the public place, dude. Like, this is hardcore preaching.
JJ
Ye men of Athens. Like that. That implies that they're pagans.
Matt
Yeah, man. Watch what he goes to. Talk to him about false gods, dude. He's going to get down with them and tell them, explain to them that they're missing it. I'll read it. Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars Hill and said, you men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you're too superstitious. For as I passed by and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription to the unknown God. So there's this inscription. To the unknown God. Him, therefore you ignorantly worship. Could that be said to churchgoers today? Him, therefore you ignorantly worship. Him. Declare I unto you God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands, neither is worshiped with Men's hands. Wait, wait, wait, wait. God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwells not in temples made with hands. Why are they taking up all this money? To buy, like, buy land and build buildings. Neither is worshiped with men's hands. As though he needed anything, seeing he gives to all life and breath and all things, and hath made of one blood. All nations of men to dwell on all the face of the earth. I love that. It doesn't matter what your skin tone is. He is made of one blood. All nations of men to dwell on the face of the earth. I remember when I was a little kid and somebody explained to me what racism was. You know how I am, Like, I gotta know all the answers when, like, I'm trying to understand a thing. Somebody was explaining to me what racism was. I was like, wait, they don't. They don't like people because they have different skin color. And they're like, yeah, it's called racism. I just had no concept. I was like, well, what if they have different eye color? Like, no, it doesn't matter. Like, so do they hate people? They have different eye color? They're like, no, it's just if they have different skin color. And I was like, okay, do they hate people if they have different hair color?
JJ
They're like, no, that's bigger. This. This is bigger than just racism. This is talking about your salvation and who God's people are or who God created. So this is talking to Jews and Gentiles. That's bigger than white, black, Spanish. That's talk, in my opinion. There's. There's a big. There's a big discussion to be had there. But that's not for today.
Matt
Well, no, it's all of that. It's all of that. Yeah, it's Jew, gentile, black, white. It's. It's all that.
JJ
But the Jew gentile thing is the big one, because that's fair. That is who is. Who is God's people who can be redeemed by God. If, you know, some people think that you can't because of your blood, that's a big deal.
Matt
Who thinks that?
JJ
Some people.
Matt
Oh, I see what you're doing. No, no, no, we're just straight Bible, bro. Like, whatever they say in the tweeter, we don't care. It doesn't matter if they're like, oh, only certain people can get it. Who cares? We have a Bible, right?
JJ
And that's what the Bible is saying right here.
Matt
Yeah, he had made of one blood, all nations of men. Remember, he's not preaching to Jews here. He's at Mars Hill. So there's no. It's not like a Jewish thing, you know, He's a Jew, but he's a Roman citizen. But you're right, there's a lot going on here. You got the Jew gentile thing. But I like it because it does deal with, like, racism. Yeah, we're made. We're all made of one blood. So. Had made of one blood, all nations of men. Yeah, there's different nationalities, there's different nations, but we've all been made of one blood. And blood is what redeemed us from the curse. So who cares about the skin tone? Who cares about the eye color or the hair color? Like, none of that's relevant. We're redeemed by blood. And we've all been made by one blood. He has made one blood, made of one blood. All nations of men to dwell on the face of the earth. And has determined the times before appointed and the bounds of their habitation that they should seek the Lord. Here we are again, seeking God.
JJ
Really quickly. This is. This is why Nick Fuentes doesn't want you to read the Bible, but please continue.
Matt
I'll tell you later that they should seek the Lord, if happily they might feel after him and find Him. I love that man. They should seek the Lord and somehow they're going to find Him. They're going to feel after him and find him. Though he be not far from every one of us. Because in him we live and move and have our being. For in him we live and move and have our being. You ain't getting away from them. I don't know. There's, like, people today that think they're done with Jesus. People today haven't even begun with Jesus. They haven't even started. You're not getting away from Him. In him we live and move and have our being. As certain also of your own poets have said, for we are also his offspring. For as much then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold or silver or stone graven by art and man's device. He can't be bought. He's not something of gold or silver, and he can't be made up. It's funny that he says this about artwork. You weren't on the Raven show the other day. I went on and there was a Catholic dude that was like, yeah, there's all these statues of Jesus. I was Making the point that, like, you go all around the Vatican, you don't see anything of Jesus. There's some stuff, but it's very little. And he was making the point that there's 10 statues of Jesus there. Like, bro, it says it right here. Like, you can't make the godhead out of art or anything graven by art and man's device. Like, that's like any. If you're building a statue of anything like this supposed to represent God, like, you're missing it. You're missing it. There should be no statues of Jesus. Like, if you're doing that, you're missing it. That's what this is plainly saying. For as much then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold or silver or stone graven by art and man's device. And that's what they're doing in Athens, right at Mars Hill, they have these statues made by man and it's. It's somehow become this thing of worship. So maybe you're thinking it's right, it's a statue of Jesus, so I'll worship it. It's a statue. It's a statue. In the times of this ignorance, God winked at, but now commands all men everywhere to repent. So he deals with it right there. Like, dude, if you did this in ignorance before, that's fine. But now everybody's going to be held accountable. Why? Because he at the point of the day in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man who he has ordained whereof he has given assurance unto all men and that he hath raised him from the dead. So I'm just making the point that in this sermon, in this preaching, it's Jesus the judge. It's Jesus the judge. Enoch stands in opposition to his apostates because he talks about the judgment to come. He doesn't say sweet things that you want to hear. He tells you the truth about the judgment to come. That's why Enoch stands in opposition. And this is New Testament preaching. Is Jesus the judge.
JJ
Not to interject or interrupt, but remember we had that conversation about music and worship?
Matt
Yeah, yeah.
JJ
I think that's about anything that has to any kind of art. It's a. This is a form of worship. Whether you like it or not. It's pointed at something.
Matt
So you're saying there shouldn't be any music because that's a form of art. And he says God can't be graven by art.
JJ
I'm not saying that there shouldn't be. I'm just saying that it is.
Matt
So we shouldn't have music in church because it's art?
JJ
No. I don't know. I'm just saying that. That it is. That is worship. Music is worship towards whatever can be. Worship always is.
Matt
So Credence Clearwater run through the jungle is worshiping. When he's talking about running out of.
JJ
The jungle to not die in Vietnam, it's worshiping something. Okay, talk about that later off air.
Matt
No, I. Me and you are saying the same thing in music. It's just you don't like to agree with me when we talk live. You like to be like, opposite.
JJ
Amen.
Matt
Talk live. But. But here's the point, though. So Jesus the judge. But keep this in mind, too, whereof he's given assurance unto all men and that he hath raised him from the dead. So, like he's the judge, but he's given assurance to all men by the resurrection. Like the fact of God raising Jesus from the dead, that gives assurance unto all men.
JJ
Why?
Matt
Because we're the body of Christ, right? The church is the body of Christ. The church is not thing made by man, buildings. That's not the church. 501c.3. Institutions, positions, structure. No, the church is the body of Christ. Like that's plain in the Ephesian letter. The church, which is his body, right? And he's given assurance unto all men in that he raised him from the dead. If we are the body of Christ and Jesus is the head, right? Like that. That's the plain teaching of Scripture, is we are the body of Christ. Christ is the head in the resurrection. Jesus is raised from the dead. Just like in a natural birth. The head comes out first. Then you know the body's coming with it. Do you see what I'm saying? That's our assurance that we'll be raised from the dead. Because we are his body. We are his body. He is the head. We have assurance. In the same way he's been raised from the dead and been given a glorified body. In that same way, we will be raised from the dead and have a glorified body. That's a whole teaching for another time. But that's plainly what he's saying right here. All right, let's look at 2 Tim. 2 Tim 4:1 10.
JJ
I charge thee, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom, preach the word, be instant, in season, out of season, Reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all Long suffering and doctrine.
Matt
Sorry, I wasn't there yet. And you. But you said it in verse one, right? I charge thee, therefore, before God and the Lord Jesus, who shall judge the living and the dead. Here it is again. I'm just trying to make this point. The judgment of God, it's always here in the New Testament and it runs totally in contrast to apostasy preaching. In that preaching, you are not brought face to face with the judge. You're brought kind of into this kind of weird, almost like a bounce house at a kid's party. You're kind of just in there having a good time. Or the Ronald McDonald thing with the balls. You're just kind of in there having a good time. And you're not brought face to face with reality. Right? And so real preaching brings you face to face with the reality of the judgment of God, which this is another whole study for another time, which we probably definitely should do. You've got the Great White Throne judgment, which is to non believers, right? Where everything gets thrown in the lake of fire, ultimately, right? Hell. Hell even gets thrown in the lake of fire. When people talk about if hell is eternal or not. Yes and no. Hell ultimately gets thrown in the lake of fire, which is eternal. That does. That does go on forever, the lake of fire. But then for believers, there's the bema seat. In the Greek, it's called bema B E M A. That's where we're like, rewarded, like at the Olympics, where you either get like gold, silver, or bronze. I think it is when you're at the Olympics, like for the believer, we all go to the judgment too. You all go to the judgment as well, but it's a different judgment. And then we're saved by grace, through faith. But what we've done since we've been saved, that gets judged. And that's the reward ceremony, if you will, where the rewards are handed out. So I'm just saying that, like, it's appointed unto. Man wants to die. And after that, the judgment. Believers and non believers, it's two different judgments. But we have to come to terms with Jesus, the judge. Okay, Preach the word, be instant, in season, out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering and doctrine for the time will come. Well, they will not endure sound doctrine. Dude, there's coming a time, dare I say we're living in it, where people just won't endure sound doctrine. It's too much. It's too much for people. It stretches them too much. They just want little snippets they want the little tweeter snippets that are real quick, like fortune cookies. That's all they can handle. They can't handle, like, a sermon that goes 1 hour, 12 minutes and 45 seconds. They don't want that. They don't want to endure sound doctrine. They just want snippets. There's coming a time for that. But after their own lusts, shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears. So they're picking teachers specifically because it preaches to their lust, to their natural lust. Remember, that's what Jude is saying. These dudes are like brute beasts.
JJ
That's what we read in First Kings, right where Ahab is. He's asking for the. The prophet that's going to tell him what he wants to hear. Yes, same thing.
Matt
Yes. The whole Bible is always saying the same thing. It's always doing this. And they shall turn away their ears from the truth and shall be turned into fables. Dude, this is people, man. They're turning away from the truth. So they're facing the truth, and they're making a conscious decision to turn away from it. If we got JJ on the JJ cam at all, they're turning away from the truth, bro.
JJ
We got to get JJ a better camera.
Matt
But watch you in all things, endure afflictions. Do the work of an evangelist. Look what he's saying. What's going to happen in real Christian living? Watch, in all things, man, endure afflictions because it's coming. Do the work of an evangelist. Make full proof of your ministry. For I'm now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I've fought a good fight. I finished my course. I've kept the faith, bro. This is like the big album, ready to die. That's where Big got it from. For I'm now ready to be offered. He's saying, I'm ready to die, dude. And I love this. When he's talking about death, he says, the time of my departure is at hand. Like, that's all it is for us, man. Like, whenever we go, we want to be able to look to heaven and say, man, we had a good run.
JJ
Why, man?
Matt
It seems like we had a good run.
JJ
All these. All these, like, strong men of God, they. They get to this point where, like, we're reading about Elijah, and he's just like, hey, I'm done. I'm done. Like, but God's like, you know, you got to do a couple more things. But there's like, I've done so much and I'm ready to go.
Matt
Yeah, well, no. Well, don't you want to die like that? You want to get to the end and be like, oh, no, I got it. I got another 20 years of stuff. I could keep going. God's like, bro, no, it's the time of your departure. You want to go hard all the way to the end. That's what I'm saying. With the guy who came in, was trying to do like the retirement plan. I was like, bro, bro, my retirement plan isn't like going on cruises and playing golf and sitting in the Lazy Boy. Like, hopefully I'm being persecuted, maybe thrown in prison. And then I'm potentially getting my head chopped off because I'm preaching the gospel hard all the way to the end. Do you see what I'm saying? Like, that's how you want to go out, bro. And Paul, he's just at the end of his journey, bro. So I'm ready to go, dude, I'm in prison all the time, but I'm writing all the New Testament. Like I'm writing all these letters from prison.
JJ
Yeah.
Matt
So like, I'm not. I'm making the most of it. But like, I'm in prison. I'm locked up. But like Timothy, like, like, dude, two Timothy's heart, bro. Two Timothy's heart. Because this is Paul, like his last words to his son. Dude, think about that. If you're on your deathbed and it's like the last thing you get to say. This book should be looked at. Like, there's a lot, there's a lot we're going to have to look at. But we're not doing that all right now. But that's the context of two Timothy, dude, he's at the end of his life. He's like, bro, this is the last thing I'm going to tell you. You have to understand this now. I'm ready to die, man. In the time of my departure. That that's all it is to us when we leave here. It's just the time of our departure. I fought a good fight. I finished my course. I didn't just start my course. People, you know, you gotta, you gotta get this, man. He didn't just start the course. He didn't just kind of like get on the track and then it's O. Because you say a one time prayer and then you're good forever. No, no, he finished his course, man. He kept the faith. Why would he say I've kept the faith? If you can, if you can't Lose the faith. He said, I've kept the faith. That doesn't make any sense for him to say I've kept the faith if everybody keeps the faith once they get it.
JJ
You were saying faith is a. Is a substance, it's a thing.
Matt
Yes. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
JJ
It's beautiful looking at this scripture under that. That sort of understanding.
Matt
I love that you might be right about worship and music, too. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day. And not to me only, but unto all them also, that love is appearing. Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me. This is. This is what Paul's saying to Timothy. Hey, man, do your diligence. Get to me quick, dude, because I'm. Because I'm close to dying. Because Demas hath forsaken me. Hold on to that. Having loved this present world and is departed into Thessalonica, Crescents went to Galatia, Titus went into Dalmatia, and only Luke is with me. Take Mark and bring him with you, for he's profitable to me for the ministry. And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus. The cloak that I left at Troas with Carpus. When you come, bring with you in the books, but especially the parchments. That's an interesting thing. I think I read a little too far, but I like that. Verse 13 says, Bring me the books. Bring me the stuff by G. Campbell Morgan. Bring me the stuff by Alexander White. Bring me the stuff by Oswald Chambers. Bring me the stuff from Andrew Murray. Bring me the books. I think when he says parchments, it means the Scriptures. Bring me those books, man. I need good reading material while I'm in prison. But especially, bring me the Scriptures, man. They didn't have Bibles laying around. He's like, especially bring me Isaiah, man. Especially bring me Jeremiah. Like. Like, I want. Like, I want all that other stuff, too. I want to read the books, but bring me the Scripture. Okay, let's just look at this contrast, because we even have it right here, man. Paul, in verse 8, he says, henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which is the. Which the Lord, the righteous Judge, shall give me at that day. And not to me only, but unto all that love is appearing. So there's a special reward for those of us who love and look for his appearing. So Paul kept the faith, right? Remember, he's saying that. Paul's saying he kept the Faith. Why? Because he loved. He loves and looks forward to the appearing of Christ. How about Demas? Demas is an example of apostasy. Demas has forsaken me. What did he love? Did he love Jesus appearing? No. Verse 10. Demas loved the present world. We keep coming back to this. You see how we keep coming back to this? There's those who love the eternal realm. They love God. And then there's those who love the temporary realm, and they sell out for the rewards of the temporary realm. Those are the two things. That is the. That's the difference again, we keep running into between faith and apostasy.
JJ
What did you call them? The beast of.
Matt
He calls them brute. Beast.
JJ
Brute. Beast.
Matt
But Demas, you say, oh, no, he. Demas never was saved to begin with. It's not like Demas was saved and then he forsook it. Okay, well, in Colossians 4:14, Paul's talking to Colossians, like in a greeting or like in a salutation. He's saying, luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you. So. So Demas was his guy. Right there. Demas was his guy. Philemon 124. He's actually referred to as Demas, my fellow laborer. Bro, you have all these. Yeah, let's go, man. Yeah. Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, Luke, my fellow laborers. Demas is called a fellow laborer. Here, bro. Look back at this, though, man. Verse 10. Demas had forsaken me, like he was on the path with me. But he forsook this man because he loves the present world, and this is in direct conflict with the present world. Like, he loved the benefits of this present world, and he went astray for those things of the present world. He didn't love the appearing of Christ. He loved the present world. He fell off. He was on track, and he fell off.
JJ
Can you blame a man? It gets heavy. It gets too heavy for some people, dude.
Matt
All right, let's wrap it up. We're wrapping it up. We're in. Matthew 16:24. Do we have that?
JJ
Of course we have that.
Matt
You're the man, bro.
JJ
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, if any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
Matt
That so? Oh, dude. So this is, like, the credentials. This is the criteria to follow Jesus. JJ's got this in his notes because JJ's preaching in a couple of weeks. He's using this in his notes. Then said Jesus unto his disciples. Here's the criteria. If you want to follow me. You must Deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow me. He never sugarcoats it. He's. He never is saying. He's never trying to make this a palatable message and sugarcoat it so that you'll become a Christian. He's never doing that. He's never doing that. He's saying, just make good and sure you're ready for this before you sign up for this. Because if you're not ready, do not sign up for this. We've read those passages before. It'd be better for you to have never heard of me than to hear of me, commit to this, and then depart. Oh, man. All right. You sure you want to take part in this? If any man will come after me, he has to deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it. And whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is it? What is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? Do you see how this is laid out, man? For what is a man profited if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Do you. Do you see, like, how this is laid out in the scripture? Like, what in the world could you gain for the next 120 years that would be worth losing your soul? Like, again, like, this is straight Bible. Like, this is just plainly what the scripture teaches. Like, we got to bring this back into the body of Christ. We have to bring back these.
JJ
Why, though? This is so hard to preach this to people who are filled with earthly things When. When. When these guys have so much money. They have these buildings, the cars is. Go preach. Go preach this to a guy with the Ferrari.
Matt
But that's why. But that's why the world doesn't believe it. It's like a clown show right now. It's like a straight clown show, bro. Like, they're. Yeah, they're saying these things about, oh, heaven, eternity, God. And they have a Ferrari. Yeah, it's a clown show. The world looks at that and goes, you don't even believe what you're saying. Why would I believe what you're saying? And so I don't know how we got here. I. I don't know. But, like, in a weird way, how come none of the people with the microphones are saying this? How come. How come you have this entire church structure in America and nobody's saying these plain things? Like, why aren't they saying it? Even if they're not partaking of the Ferraris and the mansions, because a lot of them aren't. Right. Some would say those ones are just the successful ones. And then there's all these other ones that might have the same heart, but they're just not as successful in this, like, giant ministries and stuff. But why are they not preaching against it? Why are they not bringing this out? Why are we not drawing a direct contrast and saying, I'm not a part of that. I'm not a part of that. That's some other system that I'm not a part of? Because they're the ones with the microphone getting paid for it.
JJ
Well, there's also. There's this idea, and not to bring up this guy again, but this idea of Nick Fuentes of being a pariah. I know a guy being a pariah, but then being given the opportunity to play ball. Maybe these people are holding on to that. Like, I'm not that successful guy right now, but, like, I'm in the game and if I play the right game, then I can play ball later on.
Matt
Get the money, get the temporary rewards in the natural realm. Yeah.
JJ
See it all the time.
Matt
Okay, well, that's what this is all preaching about. Yep. That's what Jude is about. So it's almost like, how did all the politicians get corrupt? Well, it's like, who's. Who's going to change it? They're all the ones getting paid for it. Like, politicians have to change the current structure. They're the ones getting paid on it. Why would they change it? Yeah, I'm sorry to be super offensive, but the church has found itself in that same model now. It's found itself in that same model. Like, this stuff has to change. We have to get back to apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers. We have to get back to breaking bread daily from house to house. We have to get back to, like, not just apostles, prophets, pastors, evangelists and teachers, but those equipping the saints to do the work. So we're not dependent on the professional and we're not in this structure of where we're going to go be entertained on Sunday morning. We've got to get out of that. We've got to get out of that. Like, say you still enjoy that model, that's fine. But there has to be more than that. There has to be more than that. We've got to get out from under that model. We've got to start getting some distance between ourselves and that system and that model and start doing it according to the word of God, if that makes sense. We're going to wrap up with Acts 20, verse 17, 38. I probably don't have this in the notes. I think I just, like, was looking at this this morning or something, but I just felt like this was a good thing to wrap it up. I know you get mad when we do, like, the long ones.
JJ
No, no, no, no. It's all right. I just don't have this scripture pulled up, but go ahead.
Matt
Okay. Acts 20, verse 17. And from Meletus, he sent. This is Paul. He sent to Ephesus and called the elders of the church. So Paul again, this is another time. He's getting towards the end, or he's towards the end enough that he thinks he's not going to see the church at Ephesus again. This is the context. So he calls all the elders of the church together, and when they were come to him, he said unto them, you know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons? Let's do that game we play where we say, what doesn't it say, you know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after how good my sermons were on Sunday morning. No, no, that's not what he's saying. He says, you know how I've lived among you. Like. Like, that's how he's pleading with them. He's saying, you know how I live. You saw my life. My life was an open book. It was bare and wide open. You. This isn't just about my sermons. You know what manner. I have been with you at all seasons. I was with you guys at all seasons. I lived among you. There's nothing to hide here. You know that. You know who I am. It's not just you saw me for two hours a week in the pulpit, which is lovely and wonderful. Everybody loves preaching. I love preaching. I think it's a great thing and we need to be doing it. But there's more than that. There's more than that. Serving the Lord with all humility of mind and with many tears and temptations which befell me by the lying in weight of the Jews. And how I kept back nothing. Oh, dang, dude. Dang. How I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you and have taught you publicly and from house to house. See the. See the. See the church model in the Bible in person. Yes. In real life. You guys know when I saw you at Walmart and we had that whole conversation about the Kingdom of God, you Remember at the baseball game? We had that whole conversation. Remember in the coffee shop? We talked about all that stuff. Yeah. In real life, I taught you publicly. And then even from house to house, I didn't send out flyers or build some giant building, take your money to build a building so that you would come to me every week. I went to you, he's saying. I went to you testifying both to the Jews and also to the Greeks. Repentance toward God in faith, toward our Lord Jesus Christ. And now behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there. I don't know exactly what's going to happen when I get taken to Jerusalem other than the Holy Ghost witnesses. He's saying, like through prophets. Every. Every city he goes into, some. Somebody tells him this by the Holy Spirit, save that the Holy Ghost witnesses in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me, saying that when I get to Jerusalem, I'm going to be putting bonds. I'm going to be in prison, I'm going to be. I'm going to be trapped, right? I'm going to be arrested. I'm going to be putting in bonds and I'm going to be putting in afflictions. It's not going to be playtime. It's not going to be Ferraris. It's not going to be mansions. Like when I go to Jerusalem. It's going to be pain and suffering and afflictions. But none of these things move me. That's a man of God, bro. None of these things move me neither, Count I. My. My life dear unto myself. Didn't we just read that any man who will save his life will lose it. Any man who will lose his life will. Will save it. None of these things move me neither count on my life dear unto myself. Dude, that's what we need, bro. Preachers that don't count their own life dear to themselves. They're just here on behalf of the kingdom of God and they're going hard. And whatever pain and afflictions awaiting them, they don't care.
JJ
Man, that's real gangster. That's gangster stuff.
Matt
None of these things move me neither. Count I my life dear unto myself so that I might finish my course. See how much he talks about finishing so that I might finish my course. Not just start it, but finish it with joy. Even if I'm in bonds and afflictions, I still have joy so that I might finish my course with joy. And the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus to testify the gospel of the grace of God. That's what I'm here for. And now behold, I know that you all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God shall see my face no more. This is heavy, bro. Wherefore I take you to record this day that I'm pure from the blood of all men, because I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. Take heed therefore unto yourselves into all the flock over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers to feed the church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood. Remember, Jesus purchased the church with his blood. Take very good care of that church.
JJ
He didn't take tithes for it.
Matt
No, it's weird. Be very, very mindful of how you in a leadership role are dealing with the church that Jesus himself purchased with his blood. Do you see what I'm saying? You better be very mindful of this. Oh, you're going to take advantage of the flock. You're going to use them for personal gain? Just keep in mind, Jesus purchased that church with his blood. You say, oh, no, you're being too dramatic, Matt. Let's see what Paul says. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you in the church. Remember, that's the context of Jude in the church. Enter in among you, not spearing the flock. And even some of you guys here right now, not just dudes coming from outside, like, not here right now, that'll come in and won't spare you. But even some of you guys here right now, also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things. Why? To draw away disciples after themselves. To draw away disciples after them, not after Jesus. Right? You see this today. You see this with fakers in the pulpit. They're just trying to get people to follow them as opposed to following Christ. Like a real preacher is just like, Jesus, Bobby, Bobby, Jesus. Holler if you guys need anything like that. Like that's real preaching. Not like, oh, yeah, you're dependent on me. Keep coming to me for what you need. No, no, no. You go to Jesus, bro. This is. This is the context of Jude. What I'm. What I'm saying is not this one off thing in the Bible. It's through the whole Bible. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. Therefore, watch and Remember that by the space of three years, I cease not to warn everyone night and day, even with tears. Remember what Jonathan Edwards daughter said about her dad? He said, bro, real preaching. That's not apostasy. I'm warning you with tears, man. This is not playtime. This is not a joke. We're not in a bounce house. This is very serious. I'm warning everyone. Night and day with tears. What a testimony for this guy.
JJ
Yeah, but. But he also says here with. He wants to finish his walk with joy.
Matt
Amen.
JJ
How do you do that?
Matt
Joy is not based on circumstances. Joy is an internal thing in your relationship with God. It's internal. You have joy. Happiness is, like, right on. I'm on a jet ski today. This is fun. I'm happy. I just shot a big buck, just caught a giant fish. I'm so happy. That's not the same as joy. Joy is this internal thing that, like, you're good. Like, you're good. Everything's good. Like, I have joy. If I come in here today and I go, dang, dude, I'm, like, gonna come in here and preach the gospel on a podcast. I don't even know how any of this even happened in the last few months. And both my kids are out there running the coffee shop. Do you see what I'm saying? Like, I have joy. I just have, like, everything's good, dude. This internal thing, like, the goodness of life is so good. And even if it goes bad, I retain that joy because of my life in Christ. Do you see what I'm saying? Has nothing to do with the externals. Right? We're just happy, like, for the things in our life. We have joy regardless. Like, regardless. No matter. No matter how bad it goes. This dude, this is the book of Acts. But, like, the other stuff, he's writing from prison. He's writing from prison to free people, telling them, like, you need to live in joy. I'm living in joy. You need to live in joy. He's in prison. So joy is this internal thing that doesn't have to do with external circumstances. It's got to be cultivated, too, though. Just like anything else. It's got to be cultivated. For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after themselves. Okay? Because of that, man, you gotta watch and remember that by the space of three years, I never stopped to warn everyone night and day, even with tears. And now Brethren, I commend you to God into the word of his grace. Depend on that, because it's able to build you up and to give you an inheritance. Among all them which are sanctified, I have coveted no man's silver or gold or apparel like in that day. They paid with clothes. It looks like. Like gold and silver have always been money. And it looks like clothes, in a weird way, was money, too. But he says, bro, I didn't. I didn't need anybody's money. Yeah. You yourselves know that these hands have ministered into my necessities. And to them that were with me, I have showed you all things how that so laboring you ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus Christ, how he said, it's more blessed to give than to receive. He said, I didn't take money from you guys. I worked. Right. He's called a tent maker. Some say it was like a prayer shawl or whatever. But he was a. He worked to pay for his stuff. Which I'm not saying a man of God shouldn't be paid to preach. I'm not saying that there's a. There's a time and a place, and we got to come to a balance with that. Because I don't think that you should have the most important job in the world and have a side hustle. That's my personal take on it. Like, if. If we're saying, like, preaching the gospel is the most important thing, I don't think you should have a side hustle. And we talked about the apostles last week or two weeks ago, that they spent 40 hours a week in prayer in the Word. So I don't know that that really leaves you time for a side hustle. But we can unpack that as exactly how does a man get to that place where he can do that and not be dependent on their money? But Paul says, I wasn't dependent on your money. I didn't need it from you guys.
JJ
What if you have to pour brown water?
Matt
Then you gotta do what you gotta do till the Lord opens up another path.
JJ
Amen.
Matt
I've showed you all things how that's so laboring you ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, it is more blessed to give than to receive. And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down and prayed with them all. And they all wept sore and fell on Paul's neck and kissed him, sorrowing most of all for the words which he spoke, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him under the ship. I just want to. I just want to wrap up. Just saying, man. Enoch stands in direct contrast to these. To these fakers. In the book of Jude, Jude is warning us about apostates in the church. Those who preach judgment, like Enoch, they stand in direct contrast to apostates. You have faith and you have apostasy. We want to be on the side of faith. We want to stay the course. We want to finish the course. We want to fight the good fight of faith, and we want to finish all the way to the end. Amen. It.
Episode: The Prophecy of Enoch | Straight Bible
Date: December 2, 2025
Hosts: TopLobsta & Raven (with guest JJ)
Theme: An exploration of Enoch’s prophecy, faith, and apostasy in the church, with direct Biblical study and commentary on walking with God, seeking divine revelation, and the necessity of real, uncompromising faith in an era of superficial Christianity.
This episode delves deep into the rare but profound biblical figure Enoch, his prophetic witness as found in Jude, his exemplary “walk with God,” and the broader theme of authenticity versus apostasy in contemporary Christianity. The hosts dissect direct scripture passages, pulling out actionable insights about faith, diligence in seeking God, and the dangers of complacency or "fakers" within the church. They balance theological rigor with personal anecdotes, humor, and a critical look at modern church structures and cultural distractions.
“Without faith, it is impossible to please God. For he that comes to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” – Matt (09:40)
“You can’t lose your sense of adventure. That’s a major theme of the Bible... When you go into the scripture, you’re exploring like a treasure hunter” – Matt (14:46)
“God will teach you directly. If someone says only the professionals can teach you, that’s just a power move for control.” – Matt (31:05)
“Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3, echoed at 49:50)
“None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself.” – Matt, quoting Paul (90:59)
This episode offers a passionate, thorough dissection of what it means to “walk with God” in a world awash with surface faith, apostasy, and distractions. Drawing parallels between Enoch’s otherworldly faith, Paul’s endurance, and today’s churchgoers, the hosts urge listeners to seek God Himself, embrace the reality of coming judgment, break free from manipulative structures, and finish their own spiritual journey with uncompromised faith and joy—just as Enoch and Paul did.
“Fight the good fight of faith, and finish all the way to the end. Amen.” – Matt (98:01)
