The fun and the memories that we have, we cherish growing up. I'm so excited for this. I. I can't tell you how crazy it is to. To say that I'm a part of this group that, that now is an investor and in. In these theme parks that, that we absolutely love growing up, man.

Yeah, man. I mean, listen, I heard about it. I'm joining you too. I'm investing too, brother. I'm just going to keep riding your coattails. That's all I want to do.

Yeah, exactly. We're going to be riding some rides here soon. Dude, you already know.

I mean, listen, I think again, the moment I heard about Six Flags again, those, Those memories come back and you think about all the people you think about, you know, mom working. Like, amusement parks in Northeast Ohio are such like an embedded part of the community. At least it was.

It felt like it was when we were growing up. For sure.

[Jason Kelsey]

Mom used to work at geography.

[Travis Kelce]

Our guy, Harry Clark, James Settles. You already know the list.

You're taking school trips to them. And like, I don't know, man. It's just a lot of great memories are centered around that. Down at Cincinnati for training camp island, we would do Kings island once a year at least. And it's just, you know, it's. It's kind of fun. It's very fun. I mean, I remember watching Richie Rich growing up and I'm like, dude, what if I one day I own a roller coaster? Yeah, now we're. Now we kind of do. Are we gonna get a Kelsey roller coaster? Man?

[Travis Kelce]

I. Dude, it's. I just. I just.

Even if it's just like a little.

My toes in the water right now.

Well, let's just. Let's play in the land of make believe. What would a Kelsey roller coaster consist of? Big drop.

It's got to have a few drops in there. One or two. I don't know. I don't know about like a Millennium Force drop, but definitely loops. I think it's got to be, you.

Know, is it shoulder harness or seated bar or one of these crazy ones where you're like, standing or you're like flying?

[Travis Kelce]

I feel like it's got to be shoulder harness. I feel like I love The Raptor, because it was like your feet were dangling and I like that. Being a big guy, I don't got to worry about my, like my height being an issue on this thing. Yeah. And then on top of that, one of my favorite rides was always the indoor rides. I always thought those were some of the coolest ones because you could just turn the lights off in those things and you didn't know where you were going.

[Jason Kelsey]

Is it wooden? Wooden. There's like a dirtiness to the wood that I like. The shake, shaking.

[Travis Kelce]

All the wood is old.

[Jason Kelsey]

Yeah.

Why?

I mean, there's a shakiness to it. There's a, there's a, there's an even greater sense of like, is this thing about to fall apart?

You want to be terrified?

Listen, I mean, I want the adrenaline pumping and the scared. More scared I am, the more the adrenaline's bumping.

Within. Within limits. I mean, Six Flags is a top notch organization. They're going to keep that function. Right.

What would nine year old Travis Kelsey think of owning a theme park?

I mean, golly, I can't even, I can't even put myself in. In my nine year old shoes, man. I was.

[Jason Kelsey]

I mean, it's just Richie Rich, right? It's, it's the exact same thing now.

[Travis Kelce]

Exactly. You could just be a kid forever, man. You could be a kid forever, man. I can't wait to. You know, I got my, my prestige season pass ready to rock and roll. As soon as the season's over with, I'm gonna go up there and hit the, hit the park and I'm gonna try and get to as many as I can this offseason, man. It's just, you know, lay my eyes on, on, on what Everything Six Flags has to offer outside of just Ohio, man.

Have you ever seen these challenges where you have to hit like a certain amount of rides and experiences within a day where it's like almost like a marathon of like an amusement park?

[Travis Kelce]

Oh, yeah.

You're like running from ride to ride just to try and get it all in.

I think we got to do a new Heights edition, dude.

You got to hit it all. You got to hit the Millennium Force. You got to hit the Raptor, the Phantom. Then you got to hit the wave pool. You got to do a body surf in the wave. Dipping dots on the way out of that. Chug a beer on your Way over. Like, I mean, I think this could be. It's like a marathon race of amusement at Six Flags. I think that might be. That'd be pretty fun.

Either way, if you were to make a Six Flags theme park from scratch, what is. Are there going to be animals? You're a big animals.

[Travis Kelce]

I think there's a huge animal.

That's what I'm picturing. Otters. Just, like, not even in cages. They're just running around the park free.

Just got ponds of otters everywhere.

Do we have a garage beer ride? Ooh, 21 and upright only.

You got to chug a beer.

You have to finish your beer by the end of the ride.

Either that or you just get free beers before you get on the ride.

All right, Travy, let's move on to some bold topics. Seven in the NFL. All right, now, starting with none other than the Kansas City Chiefs. Chiefs 31. Raiders. Gilbert Arenas. Travis, what. What are your initial thoughts of this game?

[Travis Kelce]

I didn't even know you knew what number Gilbert Arenas was.

[Jason Kelsey]

Are you kidding me? I used to hate Gilbert Arenas when the cast.

[Travis Kelce]

The Wizards.

[Jason Kelsey]

Yeah, the first, like, go around with LeBron on the.

[Travis Kelce]

I used to love him until they played the Cavs.

[Jason Kelsey]

Yeah, no, I mean, respect him as a player. For sure. He would shoot the ball. I mean, he would. He was kind of the original.

[Travis Kelce]

Just shut the ball from happening nowhere.

So what are you.

That went in. Yeah, yeah, yeah. First regular season Chiefs shut out since 2011, my rookie year.

[Travis Kelce]

Wow, that's so crazy. And I can't. I can't wrap my head around it. I was actually asked this after the game, and it was the first regular season shutout of coach Reed's career. I'm like, that can't be right.

[Jason Kelsey]

I mean, Travis, you know, crazy how bad you have to be to not score a single point in the NFL. Like, that does not h. How many shutouts on average happen a year? It's got to be like one or two maybe.

[Travis Kelce]

I think I've seen a handful already this year.

[Jason Kelsey]

Travis. I. I don't think this is, like, this isn't normal. I feel terrible for the Raiders. Like, this is a.

[Travis Kelce]

It was tough. There's some. There's some mind blowing stats. Like, we had as many first downs as they had offensive play plays.

[Jason Kelsey]

Yeah.

[Travis Kelce]

Like, it's crazy to kind of think about what really went on this past Sunday.

[Jason Kelsey]

I don't know that I've ever seen a team have 30 first downs in a game. I mean, that's an in in itself is crazy. Held the Raiders to under 100 yards total. Yeah, dude. I mean, I've had some really bad offensive games. It is a. It's miserable to be a part of those. This is right up there with them. Chiefs 31 points in five offensive drives.

[Travis Kelce]

They weren't getting much going on offense, and we were putting together, like, I think 17 and 18 play drives that. Yep, scored in touchdowns. And it felt like the. The first half went by like this, and we had three drives that were all like really, like long drive drills almost. I mean, I'll say this, man. I. I respect so many people over there. There's coaches, players. There's so. There's so many. There's so many guys. Obviously, they didn't have Brock Bowers. They didn't have Max for the majority of the game. He got banged up, and hopefully he's all right, man. But it felt good to be firing on all cylinders, you know, offense, defense, special teams. Pat was finding a way to get everybody the ball. Rasheed Rice finally got his chance to be a part of this madness and show what he can do in the NFL again. And I know everybody was excited to see him get going, but it just felt like, as an offense, everything was working for us, man. And when the. And when the big guys up front are rolling and the run games and we're getting after me in the run game, and then on top of that, the ball's out of Pat's hands quick and everybody's making guys miss and we're getting these first downs here and there. It just. It's so much fun being a part of this shit, man.

[Jason Kelsey]

Well, that's what I was going to ask. Like, typically, even when you win or win, like, big games, like Andy or the coach is like, listen, guys, great win, great performance, we're going to get back in there tomorrow. We're going to clean up our mistakes, and we're going to focus on the next one. Is there anything to clean up? Like, was there any negative. Like, what are the teaching points from this game?

[Travis Kelce]

I mean, there's negative plays, and as you know, you always got to find ways to get better. But I think. I think the biggest thing is just getting healthy. Had my guy, Trey Smith go down and had a few guys get banged up, get rolled up on. I know Kareem's ankle ain't feeling too good today. Ankle and knee ain't feeling too good today because he got rolled up on. On Rashid's first touchdown. Yeah, but I feel like we just keep taking this momentum of how we're working throughout the week, and that's. That's where it's really paying off, is guys are busting their ass throughout the week and detailing their work to where we're ready. We're ready for that ball to be out quick. We're ready to attack a defense a certain way, and we're getting after it in the run game, man. And that sets up everything that makes that job on the offensive line so much easier when you're, when you're finding ways to get five to six yards every pop.

[Jason Kelsey]

Well, yeah, you guys are finding ways. And one of the reasons it was so easy, potentially is the return of Rasheed rights. I mean, the Chiefs offense had been trending this way for the last few games. Really, it's starting to find its own. The creativity was incredible. Getting the big plays down the field, running games started getting going the week before, and now you get the, you know, wide receiver number one back. First time Chiefs have had worthy Rice and Hollywood Brown in the same game. Rice, seven catches for 42 yards and two touchdowns. Hollywood Brown found the end zone again. I mean, how many touchdowns is. He's got like four now?

He's, he's a great route runner, but when he gets that ball in his hands, he's a strong runner. He feels the defense, you know, the, the lanes, how to knife the, how to knife the defense. Get into the seams. Yep. And the cracks of the defense. And, you know, that's, that's really where we, we missed him last year and we missed him a lot early on this season is the fact that, you know, we can just get him the ball anywhere on the field and he's going to make somebody miss. And that's a hell of a skill to have or a hell of a, you know, advantage to have on the offensive side of the ball. Because a lot of the, A lot of the, you know, opportunities you get in the NFL is a one on one opportunity. And if you make that guy miss and you gain those extra yards, man. Yeah, we're, we're rolling.

He took the top off the defense and a cover to look, and I just had to get lost behind the linebackers, and that's what I did. I thought he was right on my trail, and then, you know, he just stopped following me and I ended up getting butt naked open.

We talked about Cam Scatter Boo and freaking Jackson Dart and you know, I listen in Philly, you know, when you're struggling, they're going to let you know, especially when the expectations are high. So, you know, they've, they've been going through it. So to come back and bounce back and have this type of game, very, very happy. Not just as an Eagles fan, but, you know, happy that these guys responded this way.

Yeah. Well, the offense is definitely back.

Yeah. I mean, Jalen hurts. Been under a lot of scrutiny. I mean, still, like, I think, yeah.

He was hitting all the big shots down the field. Saquon was going the first drive. Then Cam Juergens goes out, kind of stalled out. But the big thing, I thought that was really different. Everybody's already talked about the under center stuff, the play action. I think it seems like it added some more to the offense.

Oh, it added to it. Jaylen went 19 for 23 is how it added to it. For 326 yards, three ties, AJ and Smitt Swole. Batman and Skinny Batman combined for 13 receptions, 304 yards and three tutties by themselves. You think it's a conscious effort to just throw the ball downfield? Or you think they're. They're finally starting to get everybody to really play the run specifically?

I just think that they're figuring it out, man. I think that the running game still wasn't really clicking. I mean, it clicked the first drive, but they st. They stuck with it and they kept kind of trying to establish it and then they, they hit the big shots when they were there and they hit the off schedule shots and listen, Minnesota's a great defense this year. Brian Flores is one of the best coordinators in the NFL. Their weakness had been stopping the run. They were the best past defense in the NFL, I think, to date. Been getting a lot of turnovers. So this is a huge game for Philadelphia Eagles and Jalen hurts and these guys to get back on track. And you saw it in the emotion they displayed after the Game. Right. You know that they needed to get this monkey off their back, get one under the belt, and now they're going to get to go play the Giants again. That's. It's a weird schedule where you play an in division opponent Back to like 1 week removed from just playing them on Thursday. But I just. These guys are great. Nick Sirianni is a fantastic coach and I know it hasn't looked perfect up until this point, but I just got to think that these guys are. They're going to continue to figure this thing out. They got great players, they got great coaches, and eventually you have stuff like this where it's going to explode and the running game is only a matter of time as well. I really believe that they got a great.

News flash. Nobody's going to. Everybody's going to be focused on trying to stop the fucking run. When Pat went for 5,000 yards and 50 touchdowns the next season, we saw cover four and safeties at 20 yards before the. The snap of the ball. You know what I mean? Like, it's a different world going into that next season. You. You got to keep adapting. You got to keep changing it up. And unfortunately that means Saquon might not get as many carries or might not get as many yards and touchdowns and have the crazy 2000 yard season. But it definitely doesn't mean that he's not going to make an impact. And. And it definitely doesn't mean you're not going to win football games. You just got to keep finding ways week in week out to. To adjust to how defenses are trying to stop you.

And Saquon's coming, man. I just don't. There's no. I don't care how it's looked to this point. Yeah. What's the fucking guy from the Marvel universe? I am inevitable. Fucking Thanos or whatever. Saquon is inevitable. It's going to get going, all right? Jeff Stalin is a fantastic coach. They have great players up front. I know it hasn't looked great till right now. Landon's starting to get healthy and that's going to help. Cam got a little banged up and that kind of stalled things out this last week. But he's going to get back there eventually. This thing's going to start. We have a man, Fred Johnson out there, six offensive linemen on the field that's dedicating to running the football. Right? We get six big fuckers out there. Yeah. Come on now, let's go. We're running downhill. It'll get popping. I got no doubt in my mind eventually that run game is going to get going, and once it does, now that the pass game is starting to click, you know this, Travis. Half of being successful as a. As in. As a passing offense is staying out of shitty situations on third down. Like, it is hard to operate continually in. In long situations. If we get that running game going, we get all these play actions off of it. Whether it's the. The play actions under center and the runs under center, whether it's the RPOs and shotgun and the runs and shotgun, you marry all that stuff up and I mean, it's gonna. It's gonna happen. I. It was. It was a good strategy. It might have worked. I don't know. They didn't get another opportunity to do it. So I would have been curious to see what it would look like the more times you executed it. I mean, if I was doing this and this happened in a game, I would just line up and tackle over, and I would treat the left guard like the center and just do the quarterback sneak over there. Just have Jalen rolled over there and do the push. Push. But either way, I like the creativity. I like Brian Flores coming up with something that's different rather than just complaining about it and trying to stop it.

And that opportunity's there. And to be honest, I think the Eagles can use him in multiple ways. Not just as a player, but his personality. He brings a lot to that locker room that I think will be awesome for him to be back out on the field with the Philadelphia Eagles. I think it feels right. Sometimes when you win a Super bowl, you have some soft tissue things and everybody wants what's best for Brandon. Right. It's like, man, just go out on top. It's such a great way to end your career. But at the end of the day, man, if you still want to play, you gotta. You gotta go play because you don't want to look back in 10 years and be like, man, I really wish I would have done another season. I wish I would have been there with the guys for that following one. And I just. I don't think anything that happens this year is going to erase the incredible career that he's already had to date. Right. Like, what's the downside of this? He comes back, he gets injured. Injuries heal, you know, it doesn't heal having to live with the fact that you miss not playing anymore. Right. And you wish you would have done another year. So I, I'm happy for Brandon because I think this is the decision that he wanted to make and he's happy with it. And ultimately I think it'll be good for the Philadelphia Eagles, so. Love you, bg. Happy to. That I get to selfishly watch you again in an Eagles jersey for at least one more year.

I don't, I don't have it anymore. And I'm very comfortable admitting that and more so the team doesn't need me. They have Cam Juergens, a great center. They have multiple depth players behind the center position at this point. They drafted a guy this year in Drew Kendall and like, like Brandon could go back and he can do 10 to 15 snaps a game and be a major contributor to the defense. I'm that I know I'm gonna do like practice. I'm gonna like go anchor on bull r, go do 80 plays. You're out of your mind. Like there's not a world.

Every day in practice my body would break in half trying to do that dumb anymore. I'm done. I, I, I look at it now and I'm like, I can't believe I used to do this.

Well, let's talk about that attempted football workout with the Eagles that they posted. He responded on X saying that this was humbling. Honestly, speed was still there. Nice. But getting pinned, trying to squat 505 which is a ridiculous thing to even attempt when you only weighed 265 pounds.

And my power numbers were way down. I'M gonna blame us doing a full workout on the field first.

I do think that was the reason. I think if I would have just went in there and lifted, I would.

Nice. I don't think I can hit the power numbers I used to, but I do think I could have been respectful and I definitely could have got 505. But one of the biggest comments under that video was, you know, we want to see what a football workout looks like. And linked up with my guy, Fernando Noriega, and got a little football specific workout in trying to beat some of my old records.

There's moving on to some other things that week seven gave us here in the NFL and around the league. Broncos, Giants, insane fourth quarter. Down 19 going into the fourth. Broncos scored 33 points in the fourth quarter alone. What the fuck?

It was an insane fourth quarter. Bo Nix, if you look up some of his stats when he's trailing. Dude, I, I looked this up the other day. Hold on, let me find these. Okay. Bo Nix's overall completion percentage is 65.2%. Just what he is regularly when he is. When they're leading or tied, it's 60. He's worse. 62%. His rating is worse as well at 89.2. When he is in the fourth quarter trailing, he has an 81.3% completion percentage rating of 162.8.

I saw that fourth quarter. Guys were fucking making plays.

That's true. The. The last, the last drive was just Two jump balls. Basically crazy catches.

I'm like, holy. Which at the same time, you got to be on the same page with your quarterback and guys are making plays and he's putting it in a position for them to be able to make a good play on the ball.

But why aren't we just doing that more?

Is it harder? Is it harder than that?

I think it's way harder than what you're trying to make it seem like. And also on top of that, there's something about. And, and I feel, I feel this a lot when, when the game gets down to the wire with Pat too, is that he's. You just get more locked in, you get more focused, you get more. You feel that sense of urgency to have for sure to play. But all of a sudden you start to, you start to get in sync with the, the guy back there calling the plays or slinging the ball around and it's just the ball is just kind of always in that perfect place for you to make a play.

That's a trait. Some guys feel that and play worse. This guy clearly feels that and elevates his game.

Yeah.

Which is a great sign. We just got to spot him some points early. Sean, I mean, like, come on, give him a lead and get this kid fired up.

No, I don't know. I don't know if that's how that works.

Just have somebody on at home on the scoreboard just put up a wrong score so that he thinks he's trailing. Maybe.

It's definitely a worse loss for New York. I mean, they had the game in the bag. I mean, they, they, they, they blew it. Swag brought up a lot that they're playing prevent defense and not really playing the same style of ball late in the game.

It's a tough decision to have to make as a DC man.

And then obviously the Jackson Dart interception late hurt them. Right. It was under five minutes at that point. You're still in a two score game. The one thing you can't have happen is a turnover like that. And listen, he's an incredible quarterback. I love watching him play and he stood. But yeah, I mean, that's a learning experience for him as a young qb.

He is. He is. I thought Detroit did a good job on defense. I mean, they have a lot of injuries in the backfield. Branch is suspended. I mean, it was a cast of replacements and they, they answered the bell and they got after Baker up front. Aiden Hutchinson, Ali McNeil back in the lineup. They made it difficult early. They got pressure on them and I think it was just, you know, they came ready to go. Dan Campbell's a great coach, man. I got it. We don't talk about it enough. Like they're dealing with. I don't think we talk about it enough. He's dealing with an entire secondary that's out. Branches out. Kirby Joseph's out. They're missing one of their starting corners, their nickel avante Maddox. Like, they are decimated. And these dudes showed up and they weren't afraid to play, man. Man to man. They're not. They're mixing in all the zone coverages, doing all this stuff, but they. There's not a team that has their self identity figured out, in my opinion, better than Dan Campbell in the Detroit Lions. They know exactly who they are. They know exactly what they stand for. This dude has been building it the entire step of the way. They lose, and that's why they're able to weather losing Ben Johnson and losing Aaron Glenn. They know who they are. They're a physical team. They're biting kneecaps. They're going to get after you in the. In the trenches. They're going to challenge you on defense, getting pressures on the quarterback and playing man to man. I know you guys just beat them. I know you guys just beat them.

They got Montgomery, they got Jared Goff Yeah, they got all of these great playmakers, but it feels like it's just the Detroit offense. You're hearing about Penne Sewell. One of the most recognizable players on the team is Dan Skipper. Like he isn't even a starter. He's a fucking extra guy in. He's a replacement tackle starting right now. Like most teams and organizations and cities don't even know who their Dan Skipper is. But in Detroit, he celebrated. He's like he, he's getting a game ball or, or Dan Campbell shouting him out in a freaking postgame speech. Right?

I just feel like they're a unit and I just love everything about them. They played great on Monday. I love Baker and Tampa Bay as well. These are two of my favorite teams. So I was very torn watching. I wanted to be a great game, but I just thought it was an outstanding rebound for the Lions coming off of the Chiefs. I just think Dan and that entire team and the way they play up front, the way they run the ball, the way they, they, they, they all work together. Guys, receivers inserting into the box to, to get a block at the second level. Like it's an unselfish team and they play that way across the board and it's a reflection of who their leader is as a coach. And they all live it and I just love it. So anyways, that's enough for me giving Dan Campbell love.

A big sporting prime time or playoff game should start. If you want to do a regular season basketball game, regular season baseball game that nobody's tuned into for on the east coast. You know what I mean? You know, it has to be. I. I just love the way she tackled the situation of having two sons, you know what I mean? As athletes, everybody think. When they think role model, they always think little kids. It's so cliche, you know what I mean? But we inspire so many. We inspire so many adults, folks, you know, I mean, of all ages, you know, people of all ages, all races, you know what I mean? And it's a beautiful gift for us, and I want to give back My gift of being an open book, you know what I mean? The determinant life that I've had, you know, the ups and downs, obviously, like you talked about. And, you know, some of them are embarrassing, but it's a bigger picture, you know, I feel like a lot of the situations that I've been through in life, life, you know, people go through those situations and, you know, they give up. And I think that's the worst thing you could do in life is. Is fall down and not get back up, opposed to getting up, brush yourself off and keep going. You know what I mean? I think it's a. It's a gift and. And letting them know and understand that it's all right to be you. Whoever. Whoever God made you.

Oh, yeah.

[Allen Iverson]

You know what I mean? It's all right to be that person. I think it's a disrespect to God for wanting to be somebody else. Like, I always wanted to be like Mike, but I always wanted to be myself. I was happy with who I am, you know what I mean? And I think it's important for people to. To be satisfied and comfortable with being them and realize that this is. I know it sounds, you know, cocky or arrogant, but it's not. This is your world, you know what I mean? How is it a world. You're not in it, you know what I mean? Everything in this world and everything that you want to achieve and life is achievable. And I'm that living proof, you know what I mean? And that's why I feel like this is a gift to everybody. You can see all of the things that I've been through and all the things that I fought through and come out unscathed, and I'm still standing.

[Jason Kelsey]

Amen to all of that, guys. That was a freaking a. That. That was amazing. And could not agree more, I gotta say. And I think you just hit it on the head, like, authentic. Be who you are. Yourself an open book. All of that is on display in this documentary. It really has been on display your whole life, brother. Like, I really think you're a living legend in the city of Philadelphia on a scale of nobody else. And I think not only because you were an unbelievable basketball player, but everything that you just said, like all of the press conferences, but how you carried yourself on the court, the passion that you played with, with how. How you related to fans. Like, I. I think that goes a. Especially in a city like Philadelphia. It paved the way. And in this documentary, you go through a lot of, like, all of it and behind the scenes, it's very much an open book.

[Travis Kelce]

Oh, yeah.

[Jason Kelsey]

Philadelphia in particular is going to love this, but I think anybody is going to be able to draw a lot from this documentary. I don't know. Where do we want to start? Trail?

[Travis Kelce]

We can always start back to where the doc started with you being the AP player both in football and basketball. Man. Man, absolute legend. You grew up in the, in the, in the 90s or in the 80s and 90s doing all this. And, and did you ever look at a guy like Deion Sanders, a guy like Bo Jackson, and think, you know what? I know they kind of cross over a little bit in terms of their leagues, but did you ever have it in your mind that, yeah, I could play football and basketball?

[Allen Iverson]

That was the dream, man. That was the blueprint, you know what I mean? That was the. My, my thing was I wanted to. Football was my first love, you know what I mean? I never liked basketball. I thought basketball was soft, you know what I mean? I didn't like, you know, I didn't like it, man. I remember one day, I'll tell you what, my mom, like, I had, she drugged me, her and my basketball coach out of there. And I cried, I kicked and screamed and I didn't want to play basketball. I kept telling her, basketball soft. And I got in there and I remember getting in there and all of the guys that were on my football team were trying out for basketball. So, you know, I came back home. But I never forget. It's this legendary day that me and my mom talk about all the time. I was telling her, thank you, Ma. I love you so much. You know, I love basketball. You know, I want to play basketball, too. And it was like that from that point on. And my dream was just playing the NFL and to play in the NBA. And obviously the circumstances happen and I end up having to play basketball. And then one little story is I remember being at Georgetown and I used to have to walk past the football field to get to the gym. And every day I would walk by and I would look at the players and I think we were like Division 3 or something. And I used to cry when I watched those guys playing because it used to hurt so bad because, you know, football was my life. And I used to cry when I watched, you know, looked at the field and the guys out there playing. So I took a route that it used to take me from my dorm five to 10 minutes to get there. I used to not go by the football field. I took a route for like 45 minutes, so I didn't have to have to watch it. And it took a lot for me to get over not being able to play football. But it all ended one day when I went into the office and asked Coach Thompson, could I play football? Could I. Could I try out for the team?

[Travis Kelce]

What'd he say?

[Allen Iverson]

I don't think the language. It depends on what type of language I can use.

[Travis Kelce]

You can go ahead and use any language.

[Allen Iverson]

I'll tell you what, I never thought about playing football again after that, after what he said. He basically said, don't ever come to me with nothing like that. No nonsense like that ever again. And I never thought about. Well, it actually helped me because I never thought about playing again. I would just always, you know, remained a. A big football fan.

[Jason Kelsey]

Why were you such a big fan, girl? Like, what about the sport did you love? Like, the physicality, like, certain players.

[Travis Kelce]

Sha said it best in the documentary. He was. He was saying. He was like, listen, there's only a few guys out here taking as much of a beating as me in this game. And he was referencing you and how much guys were just. You were so fearless when you attacked the rim that you were on the floor.

[Jason Kelsey]

I was going to say the exact same thing. There wasn't. There wasn't nothing soft with the way AI played.

[Allen Iverson]

And that come from my football roots. Like, everybody thought it was a big deal with me hitting the floor, you know, I remember my coaches used to always tell me, like, if you're not hurt, you know what I mean? Like, get up. Don't ever let the other team see you hurt. You know what I mean? So, you know, I would hit that floor. But I was so used to, you know, playing football that everybody thinks that it was a big deal with me hitting the floor like that. It was nothing, you know, breaking bones and getting, you know, 100 stitches in my face all together throughout my career. Like, it was nothing like playing football, though.

[Jason Kelsey]

Do you think playing football made you a better basketball player in that regard?

[Allen Iverson]

Absolutely. I mean, I was always playing football with a basketball. Always. That was my mentality, you know what I mean? So I implemented so many things from. From, you know, what I could do on the football field to the basketball court.

[Travis Kelce]

Who was AI's favorite football players growing up or favorite team growing up?

[Allen Iverson]

I was. I've been a cowboy. He know that. He sent me. He sent me an autograph. He signed his name and then. And put the Cowboys up there. I got it hanging out, hanging in my house. People coming in like, what's this all about right here? Like, my man sent me that. So I, I gotta, I gotta, I gotta hang up. And so it's in my man cave. Definitely Dion. You know what I mean? Oh, yeah, definitely Dion. I mean, obviously I'm a big Troy Aikman fan. I love Troy, Walter Payton, Tony Dorset, the list goes on and on. You know what I mean? I love so many football players because I love, I love the sport. You know what I mean? I mean, this with you guys. Like, I, I know everything about, you know, you guys. I, I thought that we would be all right once he retired. And then they get a center to come in as just as good.

[Jason Kelsey]

Hey, Jergens.

[Allen Iverson]

You know, and then, you know, Travis, like, I, I, I think, you know, obviously we all know that, you know, Shannon Sharp really kind of changed the game at the tight end position because he was like, like a wide receiver were playing tight end. And, you know, you came in and just did it 2.0 and, you know, it's like, how the hell can you stop him? Because, you know, it's like trying to check a wide receiver.

[Travis Kelce]

We were both blessed with some good quarterbacks, that's why.

[Allen Iverson]

Yeah, yeah. I mean, the best. You definitely got the best of the best with you.

[Travis Kelce]

Yeah, exactly.

[Allen Iverson]

You know what I mean? Definitely.

[Jason Kelsey]

Well, we've had a long running debate on the show. I'm sure, you know, is it easier for an NBA player to play in the NFL or an NFL player to play in the NBA? What do you think?

[Allen Iverson]

I would say it's the difficult question for me because I love both sports and respect both sports so much. It's hard for me to answer because I played football and I played basketball, but I played basketball on an NBA level and I never played on a professional level in football. So that would be something that I couldn't answer. And I think it'll be disrespectful for me to, you know, fair enough to answer that. Because I know what it took for me to get to the NBA, and I'm pretty sure what it took for me to get to the NBA. It was hard for guys to get to the NFL, so I leave that one alone.

[Jason Kelsey]

Well, I respect it. I respect it. Just so you know, I am a thousand percent on board of NBA athletes taking over the NFL if they ever decide side. But I can see, I can see.

[Travis Kelce]

You playing on the NFL team right now.

[Jason Kelsey]

Could you imagine AI on a field?

[Allen Iverson]

Oh, I can still, I can still spin it. Not right now. Not right now. 30 years ago. Okay. Because I, I can still spin it. I can, but it's crazy. Like when, when you getting like, older. Like I'm 50 years old now and I'm like, man, like, I'll be out there and shooting with my daughter. We outside and I'm like, I wake up, up the next day and I'm like, damn, I wasn't doing nothing but shooting jumpers, you know what I mean? Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, I mean, man, listen, while it lasts, enjoy it, you know what I mean? Because when it's over, it's over. Like, like, like Allen Iverson is still here, but the answer is going to heaven.

[Jason Kelsey]

It's over. Oh my God, that was great.

[Travis Kelce]

You were, you were, you were a two way player on the court, man, just a natural competitor, no matter what you had to do to make your team win. But you were the same way on the field. You played, you played quarterback, you played safety. If, if you did play at that next level or, or try and make a run at going to the NFL when you were younger, what do you think you were better at? You think you were better at or, or more natural at one position than the other?

[Allen Iverson]

I just always love being a point returner. I, I love being a kick returner because I thought it was basically, you know, I had too much of a big advantage of somebody, you know, running at me. Like, I just, like, I know cornerback has to be the hardest position ever in sports.

[Travis Kelce]

1000, you know what I mean?

[Allen Iverson]

It has to be. I have to be under the helm. I have to be in some type of control of the, of the game, you know what I mean? And what better position than the quarterback, you know? You think of all how great you are, you know what I mean? If it wasn't for Patrick, you know what I mean? You have to have somebody to get you the ball, you know what I mean? And I just felt like if I had to give it up, you know, man, I would definitely give up the defensive side of the ball. And I wasn't a great defensive player on basketball either. I played the passing. I had to. Kim Babe behind me to make up for all of my mistakes. And we really had teams like the year we went to the finals, like, I, I was the one that everybody knew that was going to have to. My, My job was to put the basket, you know, the basketball in the, in the hoop. But my job was just really that and playing the passing lanes and McKenbe and Po Rattler made up for my mistakes.

[Travis Kelce]

Turnovers, baby. They Made up turnovers, win games, man.

[Allen Iverson]

Yeah. Deficiencies that I had, had, they made up for it. That's what made us a team. The things that I couldn't do on the basketball court, they made up for, they could do. So when people say I, I carried a terrible team to the nb, to the NBA finals, that was the most disrespectful thing in the world because I know what those guys did out there for us to win basketball games.

[Travis Kelce]

Oh, you guys were a complete team, man. It was actually cool in the documentary to see how close you guys were because I think that doesn't get talked about enough in sports is, especially in basketball. Everyone thinks it's like, oh, if you got the superstar, you can go all the way and like he's like the team and this. And no, when, when you see that documentary, man, you guys were tight knit group. You guys were very close. You can see the way you guys hugged each other after games, by the way, you guys, you know the emotion that you shared when you won and when you fell short in the finals, man. And that's the type of, that I love, man.

[Allen Iverson]

Today, still like that, still like this.

[Travis Kelce]

Today you are.

[Allen Iverson]

That's awesome. Still like that. Today, day, same relationship. You know what I mean? It's just the, the, the, the bet that's one of the worst parts of retiring. You think that, you know, everybody thinks when you retire you just gonna, it's just the game that you miss just playing the game. No, it's the people. It's, it's those, it's those people that, that help you become who you are. Like, I didn't, I didn't become top 75 all time by myself. You know what I mean? I didn't become a Hall of Famer by myself. I had so many teammates, so many coaches, training staffs, doctors, family, your friends, all the whole support system. You know what I mean? When you become a Hall of Famer, all the people that help you get there, they become hall of Famers. I mean, they, they help you live out that dream and, and they are proud when, at the end, when they're proud of you. You know what I mean? When they walk around, they can feel like they're hall of Famers too, because they help you get there.

[Jason Kelsey]

I love that. I love that so much.

[Travis Kelce]

I love it too, man. That shit's awesome.

[Jason Kelsey]

You talk about playing in Philly, what, How would you describe the fans in Philadelphia? I feel like a lot of times there's a lot of noise around them. There's a lot of chirping on, I guess, the attitude that they have from current players, former players, other fans. What was it like for you playing in Philadelphia and interacting with the fans in Philly?

[Allen Iverson]

It was. I was. Believe it or not, I was on both sides of it. I got. I got the raft, too.

[Jason Kelsey]

Everybody gets the wrath. You don't play in Philadelphia not get the wrath.

[Travis Kelce]

You can't escape it.

[Allen Iverson]

Nobody's escaping because sometimes people think that I didn't go through it. You know what I mean? Like, early in my career, I went through it. Now, I mean, it was a point where I was on the trading block. It was. It was. It was some bumps in the road. Like, it was. It was rough. But they are the most loyal, beautiful fans in the world. I remember, you know, I used to always talk about the Eagles fans, and I was like, you know, I always loved of the Eagles players because we, nine times out of 10, we had a relationship. We were that close to each other. You know what I mean? And, you know, you see them out all the time. And, you know, me being a Cowboy fan, you know, it was difficult for the fans in Philadelphia to embrace that because they felt that I belonged to them and I didn't. You know what I mean? But I became a cowboy. I was a cowboy 16 years before I got there. You know what I mean? I've been a cowboy for 45 years. You know, that part, they had to just understand that. And the documentary helps a lot when it comes to that, too. But they're the most loyal, passionate, you know, like, if you think about the stadium, I think in recent years, they had a. A jail sale, you know, holding sale.

[Travis Kelce]

Yeah, we talked to Kevin Hart about this one. Yeah. Actually saying, like, he was. He was in the jail, so.

[Allen Iverson]

For real, man. And they are the most beautiful, loyal fans. Like, I mean, it's crazy that 15 years after I retire that the relationship is still the same. Like, you can. You can look at Michael Jordan and the relationship with him In Chicago and LeBron, the fans in Cleveland. I think the most. One of the most powerful right now is Steph and. And Golden State, you know what I mean, In San Francisco, like. But I just feel like there's no other relationship with player and fan. Like, it is, you know what I mean? And with myself and the Philly fans, it's just beautiful people. They've been with me. They. Matter of fact, we grew up together basically, like, right. I became a man in Philadelphia. I was 21 years old when I got there, you know, What I mean, so they were with me throughout my life, turbulent life, you know what I mean? All the ups, all the downs, and, you know, the good times, the bad times, and they always stuck beside me, and that's why the relationship is everlasting.

[Jason Kelsey]

You're hitting on so many sentiments that are true for myself as well, playing in Philly. And I think it. It is hard when you're going through the tough times. There's no question they're going to make you feel it. But like you just said, if you make it to the other side of that and you show grit and perseverance and, like, the ability to overcome those things, I feel like you're, like, forever in this city.

[Travis Kelce]

Oh, yeah.

[Jason Kelsey]

You know, I mean, like, you touch on a lot of this stuff in the doc, and it's very much happens throughout your career and in this city more than any. Like, if you overcome that, I feel like it's like you're one of ours. Like, you. You almost have to earn the right, basically.

[Allen Iverson]

Right? But they.

They care so much. It's like, yeah, with me, like, that type of was. That type of was organic. Like, I mean, I play every game like it's my last anyway, you know what I mean? Because you never know when. You know, my high school coach Talk told me that. You know what I mean, he. You never know when your last is going to be your last game, you know what I mean? That's why I. I never. I mean, to each his own, y'. All. I'm not.

[Jason Kelsey]

We're not judging nobody.

[Allen Iverson]

I'm not doing that. I'm not. You know, I mean, it's different. It's different now.

[Jason Kelsey]

We know you could never.

[Allen Iverson]

You could never come to me and talk to me about low management. Like, AI, you're not playing tonight. Why? You know, I'm. We. We're resting you in the doc, they.

Said they had to hide your jersey to prevent you from playing when you were hurt. I can't believe, like.

Like somebody like, you arresting me. Like, you resting me. Like, that's not low management. That's a suspension, man. Like, yeah, you know what I mean? Like, you resting me. I mean, like, tomorrow we have practice. Rest me then. You know what I mean?

That's when you can rest me. Don't rest me during the game.

I would have never went for that. You know what I mean? But Philadelphia, like, that's. It's like, I've always played every game like my last. Even if I went Oprah Winfrey from the field had an awful game. I could feel good about myself because I know I played harder than everybody else. And Philadelphia fans, like, that's why the Eagles, if you think about the Eagles, their DNA is tough, you know what I mean? Now they just got all the great skills players and you know, their quarterback and that, you know, Goddard, you know what I mean? Then, yeah, you got the two wives.

I mean, you throw Chris Bosh in there, too. Yeah.

KOBE Ryan went 13 in all draft.

He went 13. You know what I mean? Like, Like. I mean, Ray Allen. I mean, come on, man.

Hey, man, it goes on and on. You know what I mean? You know, that was a. That was a great draft. What was that? 2003. Yes, but our draft, like, that 96 driver just. That was ridiculous. That was ridiculous.

The 90s, baby. I will say this, though. I am glad that the Sixers are. Are. Are showing love to the 2001 Sixers and bringing back that iconic Sixers jersey, because it is still to this day, one of the most iconic jerseys ever. And you made it what it is today, man. So I'm glad they're showing some love that way, but we don't want to waste any of the time. We got one more segment, though. It's called we gotta ask. But you don't have to answer. You can tell us the off. Oh, I'm gonna start off with something that I gotta ask. Ask out of all your signature shoes, what is your favorite signature shoe?

The question it's got. All your life. You dream of that your whole life. And then when you finally see it, like, when you look at it, and then, you know, they, they, they were actually like, you know how you. They. They'll give you the shoe and then they basically, you know, you, you can add or you can take away from me. Like, they could have probably handed me a Timberland and it would have been.

You know what I mean?

I been like, yo, that's it. You know what I mean? So, you know, just. Just me being, you know, Michael Jordan fan and loving Mike the way I've always loved him and wanting to be like him and, you know, and him giving me the vision, you know, that was one of the things that I cared about. Having my own shoe and looking like a superhero on the court. And that was him. So, yeah, number one, the first one.

The question I had to ask and, and just to let you know, I had the answers. I had the first. I had to answer once, man, when I was. When I was a young cat, I had the answers in the headband. But I was playing the five, though. I wasn't. I didn't handle.

Speaking of Mike, you said, or a lot of people say, your greatest highlight in your NBA career is crossing over Michael Jordan. Do you agree with this? Is that your favorite highlight?

[Allen Iverson]

No, no, no. I mean, I've done people way worse.

[Travis Kelce]

Yes, you have.

[Allen Iverson]

Way worse. But if you think about it, you gotta. You know what I mean? Y' all know, a highlight, you have to make the shot or you're not gonna see it on espn. You're not gonna see it on the highlights. So it's. A lot of. It was a lot of things I've done to people and didn't make the shot. You know what I mean?

[Jason Kelsey]

Yeah, yeah.

[Allen Iverson]

That was way worse than that crossover right there. Like, Mike, Mike, Mike got get it.

You reach. I teach. No, just back up. Just back up.

And don't try to beat me to the spot. If, if you don't want to get hit by it, just let me go by you. If you try to beat me to that spot, then you gonna stay there and I'mma be somewhere else.

Do you have one in particular in mind that maybe people don't even know or remember because you didn't make the shot. I'm trying to. Like, is there a specific.

[Travis Kelce]

Like, is there one that you missed the shot and you were like, oh, yeah.

[Allen Iverson]

Oh, yeah, for sure, for sure. Like, damn. But your friends, like, your friends and your family after the game, like, man, you missed the shot. Like, damn. They had the game. They had the game. So, you know what I mean? Then everybody. You know, everybody. A lot of people try to lie, you know, especially the guys that play the game. They lie and say they don't go watch the games after they play them. You know what I mean? Like, you go home and while you. Everybody takes.

[Jason Kelsey]

You better be.

[Allen Iverson]

And then eventually go home and watch it, especially if you play a good one. Now, if you play a bad one, nine times out of 10, you don't want to go on and watch it, but you're gonna see it in the film session anyway the next day. So, yeah, I definitely had a lot of those moments, but I made some.

[Travis Kelce]

So, you know, listen, you made the most. You made most of them. You made the arm sleeve, the shooting sleeve, iconic to the point where it's literally, you can't watch a basketball game to this day without seeing at least five to six guys wearing a sleeve. Where'd the shooting sleeve even come from?

[Allen Iverson]

Why didn't I pass patent that?

[Travis Kelce]

Where did it even come from? Why is it so smooth?

[Allen Iverson]

I don't know how much time we got, but, I mean, I'm loving. I'm loving this and great questions. I'm loving it. The crazy thing about the sleeve is, you know, obviously, you see, now everybody's wearing it in every sport. If you think back on it, it was just. What is the. I know y' all used it, man.

[Travis Kelce]

It was the.

[Allen Iverson]

It was the. I don't know what it's called. Where the trainers used to pull it and they used to cut it.

[Jason Kelsey]

Oh, the. Yeah, like a pressure sleeve, right? Type thing. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[Allen Iverson]

I used to wear that all the time. And then my trainer had actually got somebody to make the sleeve because I was hurt. I used to have a bursa sack on my arm.

[Travis Kelce]

Ooh, the bursas, man. It's two weeks in a row we get hit with bursa sacks. Those bursa sacks swell up on you?

[Allen Iverson]

Yes, man. I used to have to get it drained, like, before every game.

[Jason Kelsey]

Wow.

[Allen Iverson]

Before every game. But it would smash you down because it looked ugly, so it would smash you down. And I had the surgery, and I had bone fragments, so they moved. Moved it out of there. And after I got the Surgery. I used to wear the sleeve, and my trainer had someone make, like, the actual sleeve that they wear today. So after I recovered from my injury, I was so used to it, I just kept wearing it, you know what I mean? And then the rest is history. Everybody just, you know, I guess it looked good.

[Travis Kelce]

I had to know where it was coming from. Heck, yeah.

[Allen Iverson]

Yeah. But I was hurt real bad, so that's why I used to wear where I can't take the credit and act like I just. Okay, for fashion. I'm gonna just do this. No, I was hurt.

[Jason Kelsey]

So my trainer.

[Allen Iverson]

I'm actually. My trainer get the credit for that.

[Travis Kelce]

Like, when I did that, I was so into the game and. And he was. You know, Ty was a pest to me that he was. He was like. I mean, we were getting ready to fight. He was getting on my nerves. It was just. He was grabbing, he was holding. You know what I mean? And the crazy part about it, I love. I love him to death. Like, I. I love the guy. We are the best friends now. But, you know, Shaq and Kobe was teasing him before the game because he looked up to me. Like, when he was in college, I was his favorite player. So they were like, you gonna let AI come in in the series and you gonna let him do this, do that? So he was trying to prove himself to those guys. So that's why we were having problems throughout the game. And when it. When it happened, I hit the shot and I stepped over him. I. I didn't know until after the game that it actually happened when I was watching the highlights, like, I didn't even know I did it. And both of you guys know, you know, your emotions during the game.

Oh, yeah.

When you're in it, playing the game.

A lot of times they say, what happened when you cross this person. Network. I don't Remember, I was just. You know what I mean? I was just.

You know what I mean? So. I don't know, but to see other people do it, I seen. I think Tyler Lockett did it one time. It's just dope to me.

We started this thing off of, what is our welcome to the NFL moment? It could be good, it can be bad. It could just be something that you didn't think you were going to experience coming into it. But what was your welcome to the NBA moment?

When I saw him. When I saw him up close. When I saw him up close.

It's him right there. I'm looking at him. I. I see him. It's like, mama, I made it. You know what I mean? Like the moment, like, the guy that I would not even be on this court right now today if I didn't have that vision, if I didn't actually want to be like him. He made. He made it possible in my mind that I could be an NBA basketball player. And. And for me to see him is a moment that is going to live in my mind forever. I never forget it.

I can only imagine. You kidding me? Did you say anything to him?

It's sort of like when I see him now, it's the same feeling, you know what I mean? I'm just nervous, you know what I mean?

Like it never changed. It never changed. He never looks real to me. You know what I mean? That's why I know it.
