Rory
Ar heavy.
Mal
Encourage people to get there.
Rory
Vomit on the sweater already. Mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready. What? That's Eminem, not Martin Luther.
Julian
The King.
Damaris
The King.
Mal
No worry. Welcome back. I am excited. Cannot wait to get inside the culture. Get all up in there, finger the culture on this beautiful day.
Julian
Knee deep in culture Mall.
Rory
Yo, listen.
Mal
Did that make you uncomfortable?
Rory
No, no. I'm learning to just, like, let people speak. And I'm just like. I'm just listening.
Mal
What I thought.
Rory
No, I'm just listening.
Mal
Start with some energy. Get everyone excited.
Rory
Yeah, yeah, you know, see, you look excited.
Mal
Give. Give the culture a little shocker.
Rory
Listen, that's what I'm here for, man.
Julian
Two in the cult, one in the. Sure.
Mal
Before. What does that even mean?
Rory
I don't know. It doesn't. He's going through something. I don't know.
Mal
Going through something right now.
Rory
Go, liberty something.
Mal
6081 days. I'm going through something right now. Or whatever that part is. That's crazy to count down all those days, but it's like count we have. We have to heal. Speaking of Damaris, not her sex life, but speaking of Damaris, I have to ask you more. I think the Marisol might be an that.
Rory
All right. So you just came to that conclusion today? Yeah. Why today?
Mal
It took. Maybe I've just, like, had this blindfold friendship to her and never thought she was really an. I was on my way to the deli before we recorded, and she texted me and said, hey, can you get me some food while you're out there? I said, yeah, of course. I'm at the deli. What do you want? I don't think much of it.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
She then sends me a five paragraph essay as if she had just caught me cheating and just went through my DMs. She said yes. First of all, how do you order a deli sandwich? Let's start there.
Damaris
Yeah, Ma, what's your order?
Mal
Let's go there first.
Rory
My go to used to be turkey and cheese, lettuce, tomato, salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, a little bit of mayo.
Mal
Standard.
Julian
Okay.
Rory
Toast the bread if you can toast it.
Damaris
Sounds exactly like my order.
Mal
If you were to ask me to go get a sandwich. Just saying, turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, oil, vinegar, mayo, hot, easy. I'd probably be getting the exact same order, so I'll just order two. I'm thinking no good deed goes unpunished. I understand how Jay felt after he gave money to Columbine. I get it. She Said chipotle chicken breast slash or chipotle turkey breast. Already out the gate. I'm like, all right now, now I have an errand to run. You just give me a chore. I now have to talk to the guy that does not speak English, only speaks deli meats.
Rory
But I know, ok, I know how to do that.
Mal
He only speaks what's on the menu.
Rory
Ok, but that's just either chipotle chicken or turkey.
Mal
Now I have to have a conversation with him.
Julian
Nah, because now you're talking specialized proteins. These aren't. These aren't regular.
Rory
Well, you either say bor. They actually kind of turkey or chicken, where they see either boar's head or.
Mal
The chipotle part didn't bother me. So now I have to ask a guy behind a Dell. He's already on the grill with three other orders. Now I gotta scream over to him, do you have chipotle chicken or chipotle turkey?
Damaris
No, you don't.
Mal
Out the gate.
Damaris
Oh my God, he's so dramatic. You say, hey, when he asks what you want. I want chipotle chicken. The only way you go to chipotle turkey is if he says, I don't have chipotle chicken. That would be like common sense to most people. The same way you discovered that I am an. I discovered that you are really dramatic.
Mal
You're just discovering that I am. I am close to dyslexic of all. She put a slash and then. Or you all up.
Rory
Cuz now you don't even know how to.
Mal
Or I don't. And also I don't know. Is that saying chipotle chicken breast slash.
Rory
Chipotle half and half?
Mal
Yeah. Like do you want both there? Or provolone lettuce, Thousand island dressing. Not going to judge you. Light red onion. You want me to add the extra word of light? I'm saying red onion.
Rory
So light means not too much. Red onion.
Mal
Light red onion, light banana peppers. Then in parentheses, spicy if they have them. Spicy banana peppers, light banana peppers, spicy if they have them.
Rory
Light, meaning not too much. Yes. Okay.
Mal
Salt, pepper, toasted, slash grilled, hot.
Damaris
Basically, I had to break it down for you because very obviously you're a little slow.
Julian
You couldn't just say toasted with Rory?
Damaris
No, he'd think I want them to.
Mal
If I go in and get a turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, hot, simple, simple, deli order. Hot. Oh, so so toasted, grilled, hot, Basically.
Rory
So, so, all right, so I see.
Julian
Just say hot.
Mal
Then after I order, I say, Jesus Christ, this is an asshole order. Time passes, then she goes. If they don't have Thousand Island, Russian in parentheses, then just do ranch.
Damaris
If they. First of all, if they don't have.
Mal
It, is she an asshole? If someone's going to go get you a sandwich, ask for a turkey and cheese and just accept what you.
Damaris
Turkey and cheese. If you want to get me something, then get me something I'm actually going to eat or otherwise it for me. Or are you doing it for your ease?
Rory
I'm not mad at that, but putting ranch on a sandwich is crazy. Let's just. Let's start there. Like, who the puts.
Damaris
I only do that if it's chipotle chicken. Because it's chicken. You can have a sandwich with ranch on it if it's chicken.
Mal
Okay, but what does. If they don't have Thousand island, then in parentheses, Russian, because Russian do rent.
Damaris
Because Russian and Thousand island dressing is the same thing.
Mal
Oh, I thought they were a little different.
Damaris
No, that's French. Russian and Thousand island are basically the same thing.
Rory
Okay, she put you on.
Mal
I guess. I think they're different.
Damaris
But the only reason why it was typed out like that is because I know that Rory is slow and hard of reading. Yes, so. And he doesn't have much common sense. So that's why, first of all, I.
Mal
Can'T read, but I do have common sense.
Rory
See how much we find out about people.
Damaris
You don't have common sense because, first.
Mal
Of all, I didn't fuck the order up.
Rory
She reading you? She like. You know what? Now that I think about it, Rory just doesn't have any common.
Mal
I had. I had to get the manager, but I got the right order.
Rory
Okay, you had to speak to the guy that above and down the grill.
Julian
Russian and Thousand island are different, by the way.
Mal
Thank you. All right.
Damaris
How different?
Julian
The. The ingredients are different. So they're different.
Mal
Okay, I would like an apology.
Julian
Russian dressing is spicier and less sweet than Thousand island dressing.
Rory
Okay, but then I would like an apology. But then Damaris wanted also ranch. Throw the ranch on top of that to kind of, like, offset some of the spices. I get it.
Damaris
No, just ranch. If they didn't have what I'll ask for. But Rory's thing is this. He's like. You type the whole paragraph. I put lettuce inter Russian Island. I mean, Thousand island inter. Like, it wasn't a whole paragraph. I just put it line by line so that he couldn't misread it.
Rory
So she tried to give you a step by step of how to order it to help you out through your dyslexia.
Mal
Okay.
Rory
But I think what happens is we now understand the difference in how white people order sandwiches and how black people order.
Damaris
Julian told me to go up there. He's like, you just go up there. They have sandwiches listed. You just go up there and ask for the sandwich you want. I said, you want me to go into a deli in New York? You want me to go to a deli in New York City and say, hey, can I have a number three?
Julian
No, they have names, rookie. No, you say, I'll take this the Soho.
Mal
Well, it depends.
Julian
Get the out of here.
Mal
Let me get the Hamilton Heights.
Rory
Wait, wait.
Julian
We're not killing me over this.
Rory
Say at the deli. Let me get the Soho. Go.
Julian
Go to the one right outside the studio that we all go to.
Rory
What is the Soho?
Julian
I don't know. It varies depending on where you are.
Mal
If you're in Soho or not.
Julian
Yeah, the M O Mart over on, like, Prince Spring, whatever. That one, the Soho there is fantastic. It's a great.
Rory
Well, I've never, You know how many delis I've ordered in my life. I've never once asked somebody, yo, let me get this.
Julian
You're just getting lettuce and bread again.
Rory
No, this is when I used to really like, you know what I'm saying? Being them delis. My.
Mal
When you asked to get it the.
Rory
Aki way, I was really in them delis.
Mal
You know, I used to really be.
Rory
In them delis, man.
Mal
Well, there are some delis, like specialized that do have sandwiches like they name them. And college deli is all like, custom sandwich.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
People don't go in there and ask for a custom order.
Rory
You.
Mal
You order one of their specials.
Rory
Yeah, yeah. That's to kind of hurry up the orders. Like, they'll. I get that.
Julian
And most deli just name like the common ones after. That's what I'm saying. Like, it's just all the shit that people.
Rory
Turkey and cheese would be the Soho.
Mal
I feel like what demerit was white people. Like, that's white people to me.
Damaris
How is that Once you bring in.
Mal
The word, like friend is about to do a favor for you. You put things in, like light red onions, light banana peppers, spicy.
Damaris
If they know it was that hard.
Mal
So what was I supposed to do with the light?
Julian
Should I like, go back there and.
Mal
Look through the glass or try to get over the counter to make sure What. What warrants it?
Rory
No, I mean, if you say light, they. They know that means not too much, not too heavy. Have you been? No, not that one. I never. I never been to that one.
Mal
Go say any other word besides turkey, ham, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and see. See how far you get in a conversation?
Damaris
But yet somehow the sandwich came out perfect. Like I knew it would.
Julian
Homie that runs a cashier there, friend.
Mal
And had to make sure he was going through step by step. We literally had to. I said the full order and I said, you're probably going to want to write this down. He ignored that. Started like he heard everything, got the bread, and then I had to go every single step. Say it a few more times.
Rory
Oh, that's normal, though. They're the first time for sure. Come back and be like, all right, what you want?
Damaris
Exactly.
Rory
Like I just told you my whole order. But let's do it again. Fuck it.
Mal
This one.
Damaris
Rory's mad because I didn't get mayonnaise on my sandwich. That's where I'm getting at. It's starting to feel racist.
Mal
I just started eating mayo for the first time in 34 years.
Damaris
Just start what you used to put on your sandwich.
Mal
I like oil and vinegar.
Rory
Oil and vinegar. That's it. No mayo. Never.
Mal
I was never a mayo. Now I love mayo. I don't know what happened.
Rory
Mayo is amazing on a sandwich, bro.
Damaris
Yeah, now I've gotten older. I started to like mayo, but I.
Rory
Put mayo on everything Burger.
Mal
I'm. I cannot believe I went this long without mayo. Yeah, I love it on burger.
Rory
Like, how did you eat a burger without mayo?
Julian
I like making an.
Mal
As a kid, like, you may not like, or you think you may not like something. I didn't hear.
Rory
Hold on, man. Hold on.
Julian
It's not a weird.
Rory
What's up, man? How you feeling today, fam?
Julian
We're not going to pretend like aiolis aren't nice.
Rory
Cuz you're not going to just throw aioli into our compost.
Damaris
It's spiced up mayonnaise.
Julian
It's just ketchup cut with mayonnaise.
Mal
Yeah, I know, but like.
Julian
Or like whatever. Condiment.
Mal
Standard condiments in a sandwich. Like that's. That's over here.
Julian
You don't go to. So when you go to a restaurant, you order a burger, you don't get a side of ketchup and a side of mayonnaise and then mix them and make an aioli.
Damaris
You don't do that well.
Julian
It's like.
Rory
It's like Dominicans up town called a catch a mayo.
Julian
That too.
Rory
Mayo.
Julian
The point is, you got to cut it with mayonnaise. It's great.
Rory
Pretty much.
Julian
It's not. Technically, it's not an aioli, but Aioli. Hey, I'll take the Soho.
Rory
I'll take the Soho with aioli on the side.
Mal
That was funny, what Julian's talking about, because I was in that deli when I was. When I was waiting for demerito Jimmy from Barbershop coffee order. I was looking in the. The glass, and they had, like, the nyc, and it was roast beef, avocado, lettuce, tomato. I said, what about that? Is New York?
Rory
Yeah. No, nothing about New York is avocado in a sandwich.
Julian
Yeah, that's Cali.
Rory
Yeah. That's not a New York thing.
Mal
That's the NYC at that deli.
Rory
Yeah. So that's why you can't just go in and say, give me the Soho.
Julian
Well, you read.
Rory
By the time you get upstairs, you crack your sandwich over. You got avocado all over. You're like, all right, what the fuck is this? Then?
Mal
You're in Soho.
Rory
Yeah. That means now you're in Soho.
Mal
What. What's your deli order now that you're vegan?
Rory
I don't. I don't eat the delis no more. But they got vegan delis, though.
Julian
You can get a good smoothie at a deli.
Rory
They got.
Mal
They got.
Rory
They got vegan delis popping up, like, more. More frequently. I'm starting to see a lot of vegan delis.
Mal
What do they give you at a vegan deli?
Rory
They just have, like, a lot of them have mushrooms, like, fried mushrooms. Some of them fried the mushrooms. Some of them have, like, the impossible patties that they chop up if you want to chop cheese.
Mal
That's another thing I hated as a kid that I love. Now I do not believe, like, mushrooms have been around, and I wasn't aware.
Rory
How delicious mushrooms is. Great Mushrooms is fire, man.
Mal
There's so many things the kid, especially.
Rory
If the right person is, like, cooking it, knows how to cook different mushrooms. And it's. It definitely emulates a lot of textures that you already used to, like chicken.
Mal
And like that and Brussels sprouts. As a kid, we were told those sucks.
Rory
Broccoli got to be charred, almost burnt, and just doused. And don't give me no. Don't give me no, no super green Brussels sprouts. My shit's got to be kind of like char. Yeah, they got like, little. Little black marbles.
Mal
I feel you. All right, so what's. What's the consensus here? She's An. Right.
Rory
She's not. An. She's very. She's very particular about her order, especially when it comes to sandwich. It says it's given taste levels. It's given. It's given. You know, this person is very. You know, they know what they want. They're paying attention. She's paying attention to detail of the sandwich. A sandwich has to be detailed, and that's fine.
Mal
I respect it, too. If she was ordering it. Well, like, I'm particular with my order sometimes as well. If I'm in a mood, but I order it myself, I go with that mood.
Rory
I think. I think Rory's thing is he just doesn't like talking to the. Yeah, he doesn't like talking to people. That's. So have the podcast longer. Well, I mean, you can't see the people.
Julian
There's five people in this room.
Rory
But you don't like talking to strangers longer than you have to. You feel like if I got to stand here and have a longer dialogue with this person based off of sandwich order, now I'm uncomfortable.
Damaris
So that's what you were saying, that I was being an asshole to you. Not to him.
Rory
He.
Damaris
When you said this is an asshole order.
Mal
Oh, not to the guy at the deli. No. Oh, me to have to go through all of.
Damaris
Oh, no, I don't care about being an asshole to you. I thought you were saying that I was an asshole guy.
Mal
That wasn't the point of this conversation. I didn't think you cared.
Rory
He was projecting his. You know, he didn't want to have proclivities.
Mal
It was an asshole to a friend that was doing a favor to then want to order something so particular because now this is my issue.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
And I feel like you even threw some type of sauce on it, like, don't fuck it up or.
Damaris
No, I said No, I said don't add tomatoes because tomatoes ruined sandwiches.
Mal
Oh, yeah, Added that, like, when I was already walking back to the. The studio. No tomatoes, by the way.
Julian
Yeah. Didn't he know that? Because you would have said to me, it's Rory.
Damaris
I just. I wanted to be as clear as possible.
Julian
Roy, what did you get? Because you came back with two sandwiches. What was your order?
Mal
I got a gyro. And yes, I'm. I'm pronouncing that right, but chicken or. Chicken.
Julian
Yeah, chicken. Gyro, white and hot or what?
Mal
And to Damaris's credit, I. The tomato did ruin it. Maybe it's tomatoes at that.
Julian
It's not tomato season. Tomato season's over. Is that Gay, too. All right.
Rory
Yo, Julie, I'm telling you, like, I really.
Damaris
I try. I really.
Julian
You guys, you've been alive for how long? You don't know when vegetables are in season?
Damaris
We know when vegetables are in.
Rory
Yo, how gay does he think I am? Like, honestly, you only eat vegetables.
Julian
Shouldn't you know when tomato season is?
Rory
I go to Whole Foods. If they there cool. If they not cool, I don't.
Julian
Yeah, but you can tell. Taste the difference when it's. When they're not, you know, Peing.
Mal
Well, I. I did go to a farm over the weekend and I picked cherry tomatoes.
Rory
He.
Damaris
He won't stop.
Rory
Yo, what's up with y'all today, man? He got. We got aioli out of him. Yeah, we got peak season vegetable time.
Mal
We got Cullen sh. What the.
Rory
What is he researching, man? Take his.
Julian
I've been reading a lot guys lately.
Rory
You know, all the vegetables, when they're born, when they die. Like, what's up with you, man?
Julian
You know, in most traditions, this is like, I forget what traditions in particular, but it's New Year's is the fall because the earth is shedding. January 1st really makes no sense. It's stupid that we do that. It's just on the Gregorian holiday calendar. It's stupid.
Mal
But you think the earth is flat.
Julian
Basically, yeah.
Mal
Okay. Pretty much.
Rory
Where else would the leaves go?
Mal
I did. I did get blown off the earth. Cherry tomatoes, though, over the weekend. They seemed in season. Are cherry tomatoes in season?
Julian
Well, technically, the season tomato season ends in October. But, like, this is the. Like the great. The best of the harvest is long gone.
Mal
So I got the clearance sale. No one.
Rory
Yeah, these are the. These are the relatives that stay around longer.
Julian
It's like when you get sushi on, like, the half off sushi night. Just means the new order is coming in tomorrow.
Mal
I. Again, because I never did like, the pumpkin picking, tomato picking, obviously, apple picking, because I'm a Catholic. But I didn't know you had to pay to go to the farm to then go pick your own shit and pay for it. Yeah, they are running a racket at the farms right now. Yeah, I had to stand in line to buy a ticket, and of course I had to get apple cider. And they had apple.
Julian
You gotta do the donuts.
Mal
Of course I got the donuts. Then I had to get a ticket to get into the. The whole area. So I'm thinking, like, oh, since it's. I paid, it's like a buffet. Like, as many apples as I can get in the bag.
Rory
Good you're gonna apple butter.
Mal
They didn't have any.
Rory
That's the. Right there.
Mal
Then I see a line after we do the whole thing to come back because I wasn't paying for the tractor as well. Sorry, Amara. You're walking. I don't care how little your legs are through this forest. Let's go, kid. And carry your apple bag.
Rory
Yeah. Come on. You're gonna learn today.
Mal
I see the line. I'm like, why is there a line to get out? Like, just walk out and there's scales. So I start dumping out mad at my apple.
Julian
You didn't do, like, when I thought.
Mal
This was all you could eat. The. Why am I paying to go pick my own to then also pay for it.
Julian
The trick is you eat them while you're picking them. So by the time you, like, you're basically full. And then by the time you go home, you don't really want that many apples anyway. So you usually go home with like, maybe 10.
Damaris
Yeah, I was gonna say most.
Mal
I went home with an attitude.
Rory
An apple attitude. The attitude of an apple that just.
Mal
To get some family photos, man.
Rory
Crazy.
Mal
Like, at least pick it for me if I'm paying. It's.
Rory
Wow. I love apple picking, though. That's fun.
Julian
I do want to do. This is nice.
Rory
Yeah, it's fun. It's fun going out there on a nice day, too. Nice fall day.
Mal
You just go with the fellas. Like, how would you do it?
Rory
See?
Mal
All right, well, I'm just. I'm just saying.
Rory
All right, man.
Mal
See, I had never done it because I never had a kid.
Rory
I would never just. I would never go with the fellas to go apple picking, bro. What do you.
Mal
What.
Rory
What are you saying right now? I understand you. Who would you go. I know it's election time. I understand what's going on, man. Relax. All right. All right.
Mal
So who would you go with?
Rory
Most likely a young lady. A woman. Got you.
Mal
I feel like that makes it official, though. You can't just take. That's like not taking a chick to see a movie. Apple picking. That's girlfriend shit. She's allowed to say, why did you lead me on after that?
Rory
If you take apple picking 100% because that.
Julian
The apple picking means photos are going to happen.
Rory
Yeah.
Julian
You can't do that without, like, photo evidence.
Rory
So once you take photos with him, that's your girl.
Julian
I'm just saying, like, it's. It's more ammo.
Rory
That's true.
Julian
You undo me after this, and then she has a case.
Rory
Like, we went Apple picking. You told me you love me. Yeah.
Mal
This is how much of a dad weekend that I had. So I took Marky or her mom as well, which is cool. Fun family day. Let's. Let's do it tomorrow. Have fun. About 2 hours and 15 minutes into the drive, I'm like, there had to have been a closer farm than this. Two hours as a dad, you just certain. You just like, shut up. Get in the car. Give me the address. Yeah, I then started out on my phone and driving at that point just googling farms. And we had passed like 15 on the way here.
Rory
Of course you did. Yeah. What was that? The best.
Mal
So I said, so I said, why, why did you pick this one? She's like, oh, well, because it has like activities. I was like, what type of activities? Like apple picking. They have a tractor. I was like, so. So a farm.
Rory
Chill, man.
Mal
Because, oh, I listen. I put my dad's smile on, took photos of everyone.
Rory
Gotta shut up.
Mal
Said this is the greatest experience ever. Why have I never done this?
Rory
We'll never do it again. In the back of your mind, we are never coming up.
Mal
Left with a sunburn attitude.
Rory
Yeah. Never doing a summer. I love your shirt. You finally wore the shirt.
Mal
Yeah.
Rory
Thank you.
Mal
Guys out in Toronto gave you. Yes.
Rory
This is.
Mal
This is fun.
Julian
Maybe move your laptop, Roy. People can't see it.
Mal
Oh, sorry, Peach.
Julian
There you go.
Mal
My framed better.
Julian
It says New Rory and it crosses out mall's name and says Mara. Yeah, with her logo.
Mal
Cute little hair and bow the little.
Damaris
So cute.
Mal
Oh, I know. This shirt's amazing.
Rory
Rory cried twice in Toronto.
Julian
We're not going to kill it. We're not going to kill Rory because I got ammo on you. Mall. You told me you cried the other night.
Rory
It wasn't a full cry.
Julian
You said you cried.
Rory
It was. I got. I got choked up.
Mal
Okay, so wait, whoa, whoa. So then what was me in Toronto? I wasn't like full fledged bawling my eyes out, you know, I think you.
Rory
I think you.
Mal
Know, like as a man when you fight it.
Rory
But tears dropped though, probably.
Mal
Yeah.
Rory
You had to wipe your eyes.
Mal
Yeah, but like I caught it right now once.
Rory
You have to wipe. That's a cry.
Mal
But I caught it right there though. So you have. You have no idea if it would have had the weight to even go all the way down here.
Rory
I feel like it would have though.
Mal
I just, you know.
Rory
Yeah.
Julian
This made me cry the other night.
Rory
This def. I didn't cry. I got choked up. I didn't cry. Just be Clear about that? No, but, yeah, last. The other night, watching the Lakers, Minnesota game, when Bron and Bronnie checked in the game for the first time. Although we know it was. This is manufactured and it's scripted. We understand that. We understand that there was 50 Nike cameras in the building. I mean, we understand that this is going to be a commercial. The Griffeys were courtside. We know. We understand this was a whole production, but it was still dope and cool to see actually, you know, to be. Be able to see the moment happen in real life. If it was a movie, if this was a movie, this probably wouldn't have been a part of the movie where you get choked up at. You know what I mean? But the fact that it is real life and it finally really happened, it was. It was something to be choked up about as a black man growing up in America. This is definitely something that I think all black men should be proud of.
Mal
Yeah, it was a cool moment. This would be the part of the movie where Bronnie Jr. Saves, like, bugs Money in the team.
Julian
Yeah.
Mal
He checks in.
Julian
You calling him Bill Murray?
Mal
Bill Murray did.
Julian
Yeah.
Rory
Exactly. Yeah. It was a beautiful moment, man. Shout out to the. To the James family. That was dope.
Mal
Do you think you would have actually cried if you weren't high?
Rory
No, I think if I was high, I would have probably cried.
Mal
Okay.
Rory
Because then I would have started, you know, digging through all my trauma with my dad. Why didn't my dad set a screen?
Mal
Why didn't he put in a thousand hours?
Rory
My. My dad never rebounded for me, you know? I mean, all that, like, you know. But no, that was a really, really cool moment.
Mal
I saw someone retweet, like, the video of Braun and Bronnie going on the court. He's like, I can't wait to work the forklift with my son. Which would be cool for sure.
Rory
Anytime you get to, you know, hand down what you do as a father to your kids is. Is a cool moment. But this. That moment was just. Again, you know, a lot of people are. It would be cool if it wasn't so orchestrated. And, you know, it's like, I get it. I understand that part of it, but it's still a very, very cool thing to witness.
Mal
So I'm taking my dad to the World Series on Tuesday.
Rory
Fire.
Mal
Yeah. I mean, we're in the bleachers, but it's okay. Listen. World Series.
Rory
What do they call a Bleacher Cruise? It had a cool name from the other night. I heard it bleacher creatures.
Julian
Bleacher creatures.
Mal
That's hilarious.
Rory
Bleacher creature.
Mal
I've done the bleachers in regular season games. Not. They're not bad. They're not like the old stadium bleachers.
Rory
I think every kid. Well, that I can remember our first time at Yankee Stadium. We were in the bleachers.
Mal
Yeah. I mean, we were just.
Rory
Yeah. Your field trip. You go to the bleachers, get the.
Mal
Bleachers tickets, and just sneak down. It wasn't that difficult.
Rory
And I'm sure the bleachers and 9.
Mal
11 happened and everyone got in a fucking frenzy.
Rory
Yeah. Got their panties in a bunch. I think the bleachers are probably cooler now than they were back when I first went to the. To the bleachers.
Mal
Well, they're better seats, for sure.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Because you're like, right in. What is that right field before you were up top. Up top.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
But they used to be 10 bucks. Remember that?
Rory
Hell, yeah.
Mal
$10.
Rory
Absolutely.
Mal
Yankee game.
Rory
How much was. How much of the bleacher tickets?
Mal
Now, I don't want to say.
Julian
Okay, the minimum ticket.
Mal
The minimum ticket that I want to talk about it.
Rory
What was the minimum? Over a thousand. Twelve hundred right now. Seventeen to get it.
Mal
I didn't get it. Pay 17 each. Thank God there are.
Julian
The minimum was over a thousand.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
You know, I talked with. With Loyon probably when the Yankees were like, two games to. To clinch.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
And I was like, yo, can you get my affairs in order to get it out? I really wanted to. I want to have a moment with my pops, surprise them with World Series tickets. Like, I want to have that moment with him.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Loyal to me. Back a few hours later, he's like, I'll put some numbers around.
Julian
Game 3 at Yankee Stadium is poised to be nearly the most expensive in World Series history with the average ticket price of nearly $2,000. Standing room tickets, meanwhile, are selling for nearly 1500.
Rory
Yeah.
Julian
Oh, also, they said the parking lot. The. The Yankee parking. The average parking spot now is like 500 to, like, 700. To park.
Rory
To park. Park in the Yankee Stadium is crazy.
Mal
Well, they better not raise the price of the D train, but, you know, I'm not parking.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
I'm probably gonna park in Jersey and then go from there.
Rory
Why would you. Actually, don't they have the. They have the train, The. What is it the Metro north now?
Mal
Oh, yeah, I forgot the Metro north stuff.
Rory
Yeah, they got the Metro north there now.
Mal
Yeah, but you got to take.
Rory
You gotta ride the train, man. Like, it's gotta ride the Train to the stadium. That's just part of it. World Series, like, come on, man. Yeah, it's gonna be a. What they call Zoovie. Jerome Avenue is gonna be. Let me tell you something. If you live over there, you're gonna be pissed for at least the next two weeks.
Mal
And then Tuesday's game two, right?
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Okay.
Julian
Game four. First tour in la.
Mal
I was thinking you bought tickets to LA tonight.
Julian
If you're hearing this is game one in la.
Mal
He'S like, they were cheaper.
Rory
He bought tickets to Dodger Stadium 1.
Mal
I thought it was weird. We didn't ask for airfare.
Rory
You know how crazy that'll be? You got Dodger tickets. Dodger Stadium tickets there.
Mal
I've seen people, though, like, show up to stadiums with, like, different days. Like, they grab the wrong tickets. I've seen that happen to a couple people.
Rory
That's crazy. I don't know how.
Mal
They just have to turn around. Yeah, I've seen people buy Scalpers tickets that way.
Rory
The most I've done is buy tickets to the, like, on the wrong. I pick, like, I've done that before. Like, buy some Ipick tickets online.
Damaris
You meant to bought it.
Rory
And I get there and I'm like, I'm at the South Street Seaport. They're like, nah, this is for.
Julian
That's the one I go to.
Rory
I'm like, jersey for.
Damaris
We hawking.
Rory
Who the fuck goes to. Leaves Manhattan to go to Jersey to a movie theater? Like, what the fuck?
Mal
More scenic.
Rory
But they are. They are cool with that, though. They did, like, switch it around for me and, like, you know, I still got to see the movie. But that was. It was just funny that I was like, why would I leave Manhattan and go to Jersey?
Mal
That's almost as dumb as someone going to the wrong airport after our live DC show.
Julian
Damn, that's true. You did do that.
Mal
I typed my confirmation number in. I'd never seen this. This notification pop up. You're at the wrong airport.
Damaris
How embarrassing.
Julian
It's like you're in the system, but not here.
Mal
Like, they didn't give, like some whole thing. It just straight up, you're at the wrong airport.
Rory
I like that. Let me know immediately so I ain't got to waste no more time.
Mal
Paul ass. You have to get out of here. Miami trip.
Rory
That's crazy.
Julian
Mal, you were talking about LeBron and Bronny bringing you to tears. Did you see. Do you think that the women, the Basketball Wives or BMs of the industry are in tears? Did you guys see Jer Drea supporting Her man. Her man. Her man after his three year extension.
Rory
I'm glad I'm here for you to tell me all about it, Julian.
Julian
Yeah. So Drea reposted, you know, just a standard ESPN breaking news, you know, flyer for her guy from sams. Yeah. Signing a massive extension. And rightfully not rightfully so. As expected, she's getting killed online for it. Thoughts?
Mal
Just gross. Ew. What type of woman.
Rory
She's getting killed just for reposting it.
Mal
Yeah, she was getting smoked on the timeline.
Rory
I mean, but what is she. This is her gold digger.
Mal
This was her whole point. She saw the money, all she said was congrats to her boyfriend.
Rory
I mean, two things.
Mal
Father of one of her kids.
Rory
Yeah, but I mean, so what?
Mal
I think congrats for feeding our family.
Rory
Yeah. I mean, but we know that this was. Yeah, we. Everybody know Dre ran a play. We should be congratulating her. To have the foresight, you know what I'm saying? And have the wherewithal.
Mal
Yes.
Rory
To recognize a young talent.
Mal
So it's more of a victory lap for her than it is for him. I mean, if you ask me, she was congratulating herself.
Rory
She's the new Woj, if you ask me. Like, she saw him getting that Max extension before any of us did. Shout out to Dre. That's a great eye.
Mal
I mean, it. It could be love. I feel like Dre, it could be love. Could have a couple picks with Max.
Rory
It could be love. It could be love. I think that, you know, we got to give people the opportunity to find love however they find it.
Mal
She wants to mold that young man.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Help and raise him, help him out, navigate through this crazy world we're in right now.
Rory
Listen, man, it is what it is, man. What are we going to do?
Julian
I'm learning in. In younger in, you know, we look at how Anthony Edwards look up. Looks up to Kevin, another dog. Anthony Edwards look up to Kevin Durant. Well, do we think that I with.
Mal
Ant, Manny Jr. You don't need to shower after the game. You good?
Rory
I. With Ant, man.
Julian
Do we think Shannon, his girlfriend, currently looks up to Dre and is kind of copying her blueprint? Shannon went on Instagram live, said, listen, I don't give a who he or who he can nuts in and gets pregnant. I'm a basketball wife or girl, whatever, and I'm gonna be taken care of. My bank account's bigger than yours.
Damaris
But that's not what she said, so. Don't know. That's not.
Rory
What did she say, baby? D. Give it to her.
Damaris
She said, I'm his. That's his baby mother. That's not his wife. That's not his girlfriend. It's his baby mother. She said, okay, y'all just finding out that he has. He's has other kids. Like, I'm not worried about that. My bank account with me and my kid is good. He had other kids with other women. That's not him.
Mal
I mean, I appreciate the self awareness instead of trying to fabricate it for perception. Like, yeah, me too.
Julian
Yeah, checkmate.
Mal
I got money. As long as it doesn't affect.
Damaris
Poor people do that. Like, oh, he. Okay, we're broken up. He had. He went and got somebody else pregnant.
Rory
What? I know. That's right.
Damaris
I mean, I. Like I said, like we were saying, off mic. That's not my. The way I want to live my life. But you gotta understand, a lot of these people are coming from poverty and haven't really experienced much. Like, you got somebody that gets you out of poverty, you're not really worried about who else they're sleeping with.
Mal
Why are you assuming that Shannon is. Is from poverty? It's crazy. Just put on, what if she has.
Rory
Two caring parents and went to a private school?
Julian
What if she popped the balloon?
Damaris
What if. But this is a poverty mindset. As long as I have King Harris, as long as I have money, I'm okay. That's usually from people who didn't grow up with money. People who didn't grow up with money usually put money over everything.
Rory
She's talking now.
Mal
Let's not say that, though, because there are a lot of women that grew up with money in a great household that just turned out to be horse. It was just in their DNA.
Damaris
But why are you.
Mal
Her mother was a whore. The mother before that mother was a whore.
Damaris
But why are you putting whore on her, though?
Mal
I wasn't putting anything on anyone. You were projecting that she must be from the hood.
Rory
And if she's from the hood, she gotta be a whore, right?
Julian
Oh, my bad.
Rory
I'm sorry. I thought that's what I. That's what I took from you. How did you.
Mal
How did you. When we were adding that up, I thought I. Did you do pemdas to get that? I did. All women from the hood are horrors.
Rory
I thought I did the science just now. My bad.
Mal
So all women that have kids from NBA players are.
Damaris
No, no.
Rory
I mean, I don't know this.
Mal
I'm not saying anything. I think Shannon might be from a well to do house and just.
Rory
I don't know.
Mal
Saw an ambitious young man.
Rory
And I remember seeing this young lady, but, like, Baby D is basically saying, it's like, okay, if she's cool with it, then cool.
Mal
And that's also like, how you build your tribe.
Rory
Takes. This takes a village.
Mal
Yeah, I think that's great. If everyone's on the same page, that takes a village.
Julian
Derrick Rose kind of mastered that. Remember, he had them all dressing in pajamas together, taking photos as a team.
Rory
You get that when you get right Christmas, when they sign that, when they give you that contract, People know how to fall in line. I'm trying to tell you that brings order. That brings understanding.
Mal
I got it.
Rory
Ain't nobody mad. Ain't nobody complaining. Anybody fall right in line when they see Adidas gave you 150. I gotta ask, like, I don't care who he.
Mal
Swizz got the bosky out of state and his baby mother said, come on in, Alicia.
Rory
I don't care.
Mal
Join the family.
Rory
Yeah. You know what I'm saying? The bottom line is get to the bag, man. That brings understanding. You ain't got no. You ain't got no arguments when you got the bag.
Mal
Speaking of self awareness. Tommy, Tommy, our guy Tommy. Tommy boy.
Rory
Tom. Now, you told Tom, you just told us last week you're not a hip hop artist.
Mal
He's definitely Tom.
Rory
And. And what do you know? A week later, Your album is now submitted as a hip hop.
Julian
No, no, no, no, no, it's not. Or the song Million Dollar Baby has been submitted for best rap song and best. What is it? Best melodic rap performance.
Rory
He's not rapping.
Mal
There's not a single bar on that. There's nothing hip hop about that record. Talking about that shit is maybe R and B and pop.
Rory
You know how crazy it is to tweet, I'm not a hip hop artist. And then the next week, the Grammys be like, so that song of yours, it's a hip hop song.
Mal
That's when you don't check your group chat with your manager.
Rory
Yeah, like, what the fuck? Like, how fast did that blow up in Tommy's face?
Mal
Which is crazy because he has a great team. Like, I. Someone should have just taken his Twitter at this point. Like, Tommy, we've submitted already.
Rory
This is going to be the funny.
Mal
Part for the whole board.
Rory
The funny part is he gonna win.
Mal
I know.
Damaris
That'S not funny.
Rory
He about to. I'm telling you. Y'all don't see this. Y'all don't see the play. I'm not a hip Hop artist you are today.
Mal
He's gonna beat Dochi Tommy Richmond.
Rory
That song is gonna win without a doubt. Wait, wait, hold on. Because if Not Like Us is in the same category, then it might be a little different.
Mal
I'm sure. Not Like Us.
Rory
And that's. And that's.
Julian
But I think Not Like Us will get best rap song. But he's. Again, he's up for best melodic rap song.
Mal
It's not even a melodic rap song. It's.
Julian
It's not rap. If it's gonna win one, it would be melodic.
Rory
We have to make sub genres for this thing, man. We have to.
Mal
I agree there, but that's a separate point because it's not even.
Rory
This is. This is not a rap song. Hip hop, best rap, melodic performance, whatever you want to, however you want to cut the dope. Tommy Richmond is not. That's not a hip hop record.
Julian
It's funny because in the article that. That I'm reading about this, when it's referencing the success of the song, it said the song gained popularity from TikTok, blah, blah, blah. It spent nearly 22 weeks at top Billboard's hot R B songs. So even to Billboard's metric.
Mal
Don't box him in.
Julian
But I'm saying, like, they're. He. It spent all of its time on an R B chart.
Mal
Yes.
Julian
It never went on a rap.
Rory
They're trying to put us all in one box, man.
Mal
You see, like, there's a box, right? There's four corners. R B is there. You were trying to keep him within those. Wants to open the box. The box. The other two corners go to other boxes.
Rory
Just imagine, though. Imagine, like some of our greatest rappers having to deal with this back in, like.
Mal
I mean, they did.
Rory
They did with a song like this. When did it happen? No, this. All right, so that's all I'm saying. Ain't no rapper ever had to deal with this song like this Tommy Richmond record being in the same category as one of their songs.
Mal
They don't televise. Best rap song, right?
Damaris
No, I don't think so.
Mal
I would love to see.
Rory
You sure.
Mal
His acceptance speech, I think just rap album.
Damaris
Yeah. I don't think.
Mal
I don't know if they televised that. They have, like, the other one, which I feel like you can go find clips if you search for them. I have to see his exception speech.
Rory
He's definitely gonna win, though. And that's crazy. It's crazy that we sitting here and we know that that record is going to win best rap or best hip hop Song, I think melodic. Melodic rap. Whatever, y'all. What rap is in it? He ain't rapping.
Mal
What if he wins? And then later that night, Texas Kendrick Lamar and says, yo, it should have been you, gangster.
Julian
And then Post a screenshot. I did this for hip hop.
Mal
And then. And then says, when I was six years old, I thought I was gay.
Damaris
I'm sorry.
Rory
No, it's happened before. I don't know if you know that, but that. That's the blueprint.
Mal
It's the blueprint of the white rapper.
Rory
You have to do that. You have to do that.
Mal
You have to give Kendrick your crane.
Rory
Yeah, you have to give Kendrick the Grammy, man. Give it to him now.
Mal
Did Post ever do that?
Rory
Did he ever.
Mal
No wonder he didn't stay in the genre. He had to go to country.
Rory
Did he?
Mal
He didn't go through the rite of passage. You got to give Kendrick your Grammy.
Julian
But did he win that year, Post Malone? Definitely.
Mal
I don't think he's ever won in the rap category.
Rory
Or melodic performance. Melodic rap, whatever you want to go.
Mal
I doubt it.
Julian
He. He started winning Grammys in 2019. So this. This is after, like, he did a few.
Mal
He did a joint with, like, Roddy Rich real quick, but I don't think that was the one that won.
Rory
Okay.
Mal
He was with the baby for, like, a month.
Julian
Oh, wait, hold up. Yo. 10 nominations, 0 wins.
Rory
Post doesn't have a Grammy.
Julian
That's crazy.
Damaris
God don't like ugly.
Rory
Damn.
Mal
First of all, Nas just got one. Let's not say that that defines which is crazy.
Rory
Nas getting his first Grammy a couple years ago is wild. Think about that.
Mal
What if Tommy Richmond and Nas have the same amount of Grammys come 2025? Yeah, I get it in the rap category.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
And I'm not hating on Tommy Richmond. I really like his album, and I look forward to him making music. But cut the.
Rory
Don't.
Mal
Don't tweet. He just insults our intelligence. Like, don't scream you're not hip hop. And then submit to hip hop.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
You're not gonna say, yo, yo, like, you know, his team did that.
Julian
That's my thing. What the real conversation is. Why are him and his team on different wavelengths?
Rory
They probably like, fucking more.
Julian
That's a real awkward thing.
Rory
Yeah, but they probably like, we don't care. We just want to be nominated.
Julian
Yeah, but, like, tell me, like, don't make me look like an asshole for. For standing up for what I believe my music is and what I think my art is, and then not backdoor him. But, hey, if we're going to submit, tell me, because you know this is going to be a headline after I say all this about my own music.
Rory
Tommy Richmond knew for a while that his song was submitted to the Grammys. He didn't for sure. He didn't find out what we found out.
Mal
Maybe not the category, but also that song we did look up. I don't know if they changed it, which I doubt they did. Million Dollar Baby or whatever. It's under hip Hop rap as a single, which, I mean, that's more of like, the darker, deeper, criminal link with the entire thing. His team, as great as they are, knew that song was not hip hop rap. But with the money behind him, with that type of song, with his image, it would be easier to go number one in rap with that song than if he were to compete in the pop charts. But, I mean, he ended up just being number one, period. So who's to say anything but there was some strategy in putting that under hip hop and rap when they released.
Rory
It in us as a culture. As I've said before, hip hop being one of the most black people, being some of the most forgiving people on the planet, we just accept it, okay? Tommy's. You know, he's nominated for hip hop melodic performance.
Julian
Whatever you're saying, we accept it. But is it really ours to accept? It's. If we're not the ones making the rules, we ain't.
Rory
We ain't the ones protesting it either.
Julian
But, like, what power does that have? That's my point. Like, what power is there to.
Rory
There should be a lot of. Every hip hop artist, every rapper, especially ones that are in higher positions, should be speaking out about this type of shit.
Julian
I think there's bigger fresh fish to fry than protesting his nomination.
Rory
Not just his nomination. It's just that this is something that, again, we just. Beyonce made a real country album, and the CMAs wouldn't even. You know what I'm saying? You see how they holding it? Like, nah, we ain't fucking with that. She not from this, and she's from Texas, born and raised.
Damaris
But that's every. But to be fair, a lot of what they came out and said is that Beyonce doesn't go in and rub shoulders with.
Rory
I ain't never seen Tommy Richmond at New Yorkan Cafe. Never seen you seen him.
Mal
I have not.
Rory
Never seen.
Mal
I did frequent it quite a bit, actually.
Rory
Never seen Tommy in the building. Never.
Mal
It may have closed down before he was born.
Rory
Yeah. But I still never seen him. He Wasn't dead.
Damaris
But that. But ma, you were. If you let me finish, that was. My point is. And we. I agree with you. We need to be as close knit as the country community is when it comes to their.
Rory
Yeah, it's just like, yo, that's not hip hop. That's not rap. That's all. But not saying it's not a dope record, but it's just not. That's not this, Coach. That's not this. And he said it. Yeah, I mean, just further, it was a bigger slap in the face. Like he already said it. And then the Academy is like, nah, yes, you are.
Julian
But that's my point. Like, we're not the Academy. The Academy.
Rory
There's people on the board.
Damaris
The Academy.
Mal
What d. Saying the country awards are for countries. It's not the Grammy Hip Hop Awards.
Rory
I get that. But I'm just saying. I'm just talking about. As far as just categorizing things that is. That are not of our culture called hip hop, but how y'all just putting that into our culture.
Damaris
But the Grammy didn't. The Grammys didn't say, hey, you're a hip hop artist. He submitted as a hip hop artist. Correct.
Rory
Right. Even if that's what he did. I'm just saying somebody on the board should have been like, you can't submit this for hip hop. Because we know why he is. Because it's easier if it is to go number one than it is if you put that. It just pop, which is what it is.
Julian
But.
Mal
All right, but where do you draw. Where do you draw the line? Because what if I go and research a genre that I can tell does not have frequent releases and not high streams, and then I go put out a record featuring some crazy A list artist under Celtic folk dancing. But I submitted under there, so I'm number one. Give me the Grammy. Yeah, like, where do you draw the line? I feel like the song should have to be in the genre. Like that has to. The DSPs have to figure that part out. I don't know how they would do it because there's like 10 million songs submitted a day. They have to come up with some AI to be like, that's not this, bro.
Rory
Fuck it. Let Conway put his next album under country go number one.
Mal
He's big on the second amendment.
Damaris
Well, I guess that was just how we would have to redefine. Not redefine, but really defined what makes hip hop hip hop. Like, if you were to describe hip hop and what is hip hop, I think that's where the issue is coming in. Because hip hop crosses so many genres because we take it and we remix it and add our culture to it, our swag to it, and that's what makes it hip hop. So it's harder to say, well, that's not hip hop, because I can see the elements of hip hop in that song.
Mal
Well, pop music in this term clearly does.
Damaris
You can see the elements of it, yes. I'm not talking about rap. Right. Because he was nominated for rap. It's not even hip hop. He was nominated for rap. That's a no. Automatically. No. There is no rap in that song. But if we're talking about hip hop and everything that is hip hop, there's so many different sub genres of hip hop. I can see the hip hop elements in the song just the same way I can see the pop elements, but I can see the hip hop elements in most pop songs these days. You look at.
Rory
I mean, I get it. Because hip hop is the foundation, the bed of hip hop music is the sample, the breakbeat.
Damaris
Exactly.
Rory
So, yeah, you're going to feel hip hop and see hip hop in a lot of different genres, but that don't mean it's. It's hip hop. Like, I just. There's no way you hear this record and be like, yo, that's a hip hop record. That's insane.
Mal
And of course, hip hop. Now, there's a gray area to your point. Like, even I could see someone making a case where Cudi has a lot of hip hop elements. To Cudi is hip hop. It may not be traditional hip hop music, but you can see where those lines could be blurred. Million Dollar Baby has none of those. That is not. There's nothing about it that is hip hop. It's just a great song that should be in a pop category.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
And of course, Julian, there's other fish to fry. But if I'm an artist that's in that category or didn't get nominated because Million Dollar Baby ends up in that category. Yeah. I would feel it. I'd feel away. Of course there's bigger problems, but the fuck.
Julian
Yeah.
Mal
This pop song is now going to take away my opportunity to change my life. Because when people do get Grammys, things do change financially.
Julian
But like when I was saying the bigger Fisherfire thing, I'm not saying that the anger should be pointed at Tommy and his team. I'm saying look at the people on the Grammy board, the people that are defining what hip hop is, the people that are in charge of, hey, this is what we deem to be hip hop aren't in fact, a part of hip hop to what mall saying? So we're having people make the rules about a genre they never represented or were a part of. That's the problem. So when they see a song, Million dollar baby, and they see TikTok videos of black girls dancing and all these, like, black people, like, in the music video, they're like, oh, it's a hip hop song. Like, they're defining something that they're not a part of. So I don't get mad at the artists. It's. It's the board and the people that are. That are at the helm.
Mal
That wasn't saying protest. Tommy Richmond.
Rory
No, no, no, no. I'm not saying people like Tommy Richard. He said it. He told us already. I'm not a hip hop artist.
Julian
Yeah, but I'm the way in which demerit country music. So insular.
Rory
That is what he said, right? Yeah, what he said. I'm not a hip hop artist.
Mal
And then cleaned it up and said, I'm not just a hip hop artist. Don't box me.
Julian
Country music. Country music is so insular in the sense that the people that are making the music and the people that are on the board are cut from the same cloth. They are all from the same tribe. So it's like, all right, like, I'm, you know, I'm this artist, but my OGs and everybody that I know are the people that are ultimately sending the nominations and deciding who wins. It's all a familial treat. There. There isn't that with the hip hop and Grammys. It's old white people for, like, lack of. Just to black and white. It. It's old white people deeming. What is black culture?
Rory
Is it ninth? He's on the board, right?
Mal
He. I don't know if he still is, but he was at one point. I don't want to quote, but yeah, 9th wonder was on the board, last I checked.
Damaris
Cool.
Mal
Which there's been some discrepancies with 9th. I remember when Tribe's last album thank you for your service didn't get a nomination. I remember Q Tip got on Twitter and was like, ninth, what the fuck? Like, he's supposed to be the one that represents us up there, which I think is. He can't do everything on night.
Julian
Just because there's. Just because more people that we respect that are like, our faces of what would be hip hop doesn't mean that they have this say on what gets put in.
Mal
There's more to it. I don't want to just, of course, Q Tip look crazy like that. The other issue was Rhapsody's album that 9th produced was nominated, which I thought was worthy of a Grammy nomination, but that was the deciding factor. It was either Tribe or Rhapsody, according to what I heard. And that's why Q Tip was like some insider trading going on here, like. But I mean, neither here nor there. I think they pieced it up. But if. If that's the case again, where do we draw the line? Because if I'm Bryson Tiller or Brent Faz, who's same team as Tommy Richmond, I could have been submitting to best Rap Song this whole time. If that's the case, Bryson Taylor don't should have won a best rap song in 2015.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
Way more rap than Tommy Richmond.
Mal
Way more. Matter of fact, Trap Soul could be under a rap album at that point. If Tommy Richmond is hip hop.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
So if I'm other artists, like, damn, I could have done this. The whole time I had number one records. I just was in a different genre that had more competition. As far as the Grammys go. Yeah, shit like this. I see what Maul is saying. Even though it's small stuff, it is something that needs to be talked about. And maybe boycott isn't the best route, but it needs to be brought up. I agree with you.
Rory
I mean, we already really don't support the Grammys anyway. You know, some people show up certain years when they're promised certain things. You know, from our culture, it's like, okay, I'll go. But for the most part, we really don't. Anyway, they made hoes sit front row.
Mal
For three hours with like nine nominations. I mean, he was tight.
Rory
Was that. Was that the year they gave the. The what award was that?
Damaris
That was last year.
Rory
That was last year.
Mal
He didn't. He was nominated for a bunch and didn't get one Grammy.
Damaris
Oh, you're talking about a different year.
Mal
Yeah, this might have been like, pre.
Damaris
I'm talking about when he got an award last year.
Rory
Remember, he made this Dr. Dr. Dre.
Damaris
Something award, Impactor something award, something like that.
Mal
Who do we think will get it this year?
Rory
Diddy?
Mal
Kendrick Lamar?
Rory
Oh.
Mal
Y'All funny to me.
Rory
Kendra gets it this year.
Julian
Why did they start that award?
Damaris
It would have been such a good year to give it to Drake. If it wasn't this year, I. I.
Mal
Think even Drake would be too premature. We should start with.
Rory
Didn't Drake get some award already from the Grammys the year he went because he really. He usually doesn't go. He doesn't go to the Grammys.
Mal
He went. He did. He did that speech, which I would have really.
Rory
I. That he got.
Mal
I don't think he got a specific award.
Julian
He got, like, what?
Mal
He's just a Grammy.
Julian
He has five Grammy wins. I think it was just. Yeah, I think it was just on a song or something that he won that he snuck in that PSA about, like, don't. We don't care what they think.
Mal
Well, he didn't say that. He said it in a good and healthy way. Like, this is great, but this doesn't define you as an artist. You don't win.
Rory
But he won.
Mal
He won.
Julian
His last one was. Wait for you.
Rory
Okay.
Mal
Okay.
Julian
He was nominated at the 66th Grammy Awards. It was when her loss came out that was submitted for Best Rap Album, as was Spin about yout, Rich Flex and Rich Flex again for two separate categories.
Mal
It would be looked at weird since it's the Dr. Dre Award, but I think Ice Cube should get it in 2025.
Rory
I'm not mad at that.
Mal
I think that would make a lot.
Julian
Of sense about Snoop. Snoop's been everywhere this year, and that's another thing.
Damaris
And I don't want to make it a thing, but I feel like the Grammys, they go off. Not always. They should more, but they go off of the way that we handle things in our culture. Dr. Dre shouldn't have an award at the Grammys. And the reason why he's allowed to do that is because we, us, our own culture did not kick his back in enough the way that it should have been.
Mal
You are 100 correct.
Damaris
So they don't. They don't find.
Mal
Sure. Got brought up in that boardroom, like, all right, we've looked at some of his past, and I went, he didn't get canceled.
Julian
They still love him.
Mal
Yeah, I'm sure.
Julian
It was literally, yeah.
Damaris
That voice.
Julian
Yeah.
Mal
And if someone would have came in and there would have been, like, a cancellation day, someone would have brought up. It's a little dicey over here. We should find something else.
Damaris
And it scares me because history call.
Mal
It the Clive Davis Award.
Damaris
History tends to repeat it. Jesus. History tends to repeat itself. And as I'm seeing with so many people, so many people, like, still defend Puff, and it's like, if the police weren't making this a thing, like, if the feds weren't making this a thing with Puff, our culture would just forgive.
Julian
Still wouldn't have been a thing.
Damaris
Let it go.
Julian
Yeah.
Damaris
And I have an award named after him in 10 years.
Julian
Shit. You bring up the Puff, maybe All named after.
Mal
I don't want any more beef with Envy. It's love everything. But I did see that clip with him and his wife. They have a podcast, which is actually pretty good podcast, talking about, why is everyone mad at Diddy. Like, let's wait for the trial. Let's see what's in the paperwork. I saw the video, man. I don't. I don't need to sit here and defend Puff. Let's wait for the details. Yeah, they're like, I saw the video. They're like, everyone shut the fuck up.
Damaris
They're like, yeah, the video was bad, but, like, the charges. They're charging him now for, like, is he guilty of them? Who gives a fuck?
Mal
Don't give a single fucking.
Rory
And I think it's just. I think what people are forgetting is that once we saw that video of him in the. In the hotel with Cassie, you know, because I think a few weeks before that, he had posted. You know, a lot of these things are lies. Wait till the truth is revealed.
Mal
All of them were.
Rory
Yeah. So it was like, once that happens, and then we get a video that, you know this wasn't a lie and that you actually did put hands on, on Cassie. It's like, now everything else people hear, they're like, oh, then, yeah, this shit gotta be true. You already lied to us about you not, you know, it being lies about you abusing Cassie. So I think that's where people are now. They're like, yeah, we're gonna believe that all of these allegations and these things that we're hearing are true. We're gonna jump to judgment quickly because he already lied to us before. I think that's just what people are cool.
Mal
And I am on the side of due process and we should look at evidence. But when it comes. When it comes to this situation, after seeing that video, I don't care if he is actually innocent of everything they're accusing of him of. You need to sit down. Yeah, you can't. You can't be charged because past statute of limitations with the Cassie incident, I don't care if you're innocent of all this. The ball doesn't lie. Go sit down.
Damaris
And let's just, like, let's just be honest. If somebody's capable of doing what we saw in that video, they are capable of anything.
Mal
Yeah, the baby oil thing's not that crazy to me. Once I saw that video, like, he's capable of this.
Damaris
And Then not even that. If we're just going off. If I ignore everybody else's lawsuit, people were saying Cassie was lying. It came out that Cassie was telling the truth about that hotel incident, which she described to a T. So that now everything that validates everything else in that lawsuit, that validates him blowing up kid Cudi's car, which Kid Cudi validated and everybody else validated. That validates him after she broke up with him, him sneaking in her house and raping her. That. All of these. I didn't forget what was in that. It's like everybody just read that lawsuit and everything just left their brain. I don't forget like that.
Mal
So, no, it's not just tossing some random lies in that. When she literally explained to A T what was on that video.
Rory
It's not. You know what it's not. It's not that the bottom line is. And what people just have to accept at some point is that most people just don't care.
Mal
I mean, that's.
Damaris
That's. But I wish people would just come.
Mal
Out and say that.
Rory
I wish most people don't care. So then when you do care, you got to understand that you're an outcast because they're looking at you like, yo, why you. What you care about? Why are you so invested in they? Bitch. No, my moral compass is just somewhere else. Like, if I see a woman being abused and beat. Yeah, that person. I don't care how creative or how great of a music or producer that person is. Like, to me, that person is no longer. You know, I don't care what that person is selling no more. I'm not consuming what that person is selling anymore. That's just me. I don't expect everybody else to think like that. And you're gonna find that most people don't think like that and don't feel like that and don't care.
Mal
Yeah, most people don't give a.
Rory
They don't care. People don't. People don't care, man. That's just the bottom line. They don't care if people are being abused. They don't care if people are being hurt. They just don't give a. If it doesn't directly affect them, they feel like, man, all that turn the music up, that's just where they at with it. So, you know.
Mal
I thought of another great person for the Dr. Dre Sipping Award. With all the political activism that they're currently doing, I think Eminem would be a great pick.
Julian
Okay, that's my go.
Mal
Or, like, I feel like Everything he's really been, you know, doing on those lefty streets, he's warranted. I'm just trying to bait you.
Rory
No, you're not. It's not. It's not. I know what you're doing. It's not. I just.
Mal
You don't think he's a political activist?
Rory
Listen, man, we. We understand what politics is about this time of year, every four years, we understand. We get it. Beyonce's performing at Kamala's rally in Houston.
Julian
Allegedly, by the way.
Rory
Allegedly.
Julian
Yeah.
Rory
And I still don't believe it.
Julian
I don't either.
Rory
I don't believe it. I don't think Beyonce is endorsing Kamala. I just don't believe it. I don't think she knows enough about her. I don't think she heard. She's been briefed on what she's really trying to do. I don't think she really is into Kamala like that. Like, I don't. I don't. I don't see that could be wrong. And I'm. It's okay if I am wrong. I stand corrected. The one thing that I'm looking at in this whole thing, though, that's just kind of disappointing is watching Barack Obama, and we understand him endorsing Kamala and supporting Kamala, but playing the skin color card from Barack, like, seeing some things, him going and talking to black men and how we need to get out and vote for Kamala because, you know, she grew up just like us. And it's that when he was campaigning, he didn't even play the skin card with us when he was campaigning for president. Barack never said, yo, y'all gotta vote for me, because you know what I'm saying? From the same. He never did that.
Mal
He wouldn't even let Jeezy in the White House.
Rory
He never did that. So now it's like, why is that the angle now when supporting this candidate? I just don't. To me, it just seems. And I'm of the belief as a black man, if enough black men felt like this was authentic and real, you wouldn't have to do this. You wouldn't have to say the things that you're saying. You wouldn't have to campaign to us about, yo, she grew up just like y'all, we would know that. We would feel that already. We would be able to tell, like, yeah, absolutely. This is one. When he. When he campaigned with Barack, campaigned, he was like our uncle. He was like our older, you know, cousin and big brother or father. Like, we knew that this was a guy A black man that we could relate to. If it's not translating with black men as far as Kamala, then you have to ask, why is it not translating like that? That's all. But to say, like, yo, you gotta get up, because, yo, she grew up just like y'all. First of all, no, she didn't. And that's just being real. No, she did not. She did not grow up like me or other black men like me in the inner cities. We did not grow up the same. That's just a fact.
Damaris
But what my thing is. Why? Why? Why? I feel like it's very.
Rory
Which was crazy.
Damaris
Rory's insane.
Julian
That is like, just. No, I'm sorry. Because it is so insulting to black people.
Mal
Yeah.
Julian
This black radio show, he was like, just bring a bucket of chicken and hand out some chicken.
Rory
Are you doing. I felt the same way when Kamala said she washed collard greens in the bathtub.
Mal
She said that?
Rory
Yeah, she said that. She said, y. I had to cook so much.
Mal
That's gross.
Rory
She said I had to cook so much greens one holiday, I had to wash it in the bathtub. Exactly what she said. My mother had to cook collard greens a lot of occasions for a lot of people. And one thing I never came home and saw was collard greens in the fucking bathtub. Cut this shit, man. Cut this shit. That's all I'm saying. It's just like, cut this shit. Like, we don't.
Mal
That's tough to say when it comes to politics, period, because they're all full of shit.
Rory
But don't. Don't be full of shit and then try to make it connect to my culture, is what I'm saying.
Mal
You know, Empty man. Okay, but even.
Rory
No.
Julian
For the suffering of other people.
Damaris
Have you no sense of.
Mal
That's like me when I do my fake Jamaican accent on the podcast. But no, also, again, that's politics. I agree it's foul with her. But also, Trump has tried to make himself seem like he's this good old boy American. You're a billionaire from Queens. Like, stop saying you're so relatable to the poor whites in Ohio. You're not. He's trying to make himself seem like one of those people, the same way she's trying to make herself seem like another type of person. It's politics.
Rory
I don't know.
Mal
They're all full shit.
Rory
I don't know if Trump has ever said he's like the poor whites from Ohio. I don't know if he's ever said that.
Mal
Not in that exact verb.
Rory
I'm just saying. I don't know if he's.
Julian
Yeah, but he's like, I represent America.
Rory
Yeah.
Julian
Like, nothing.
Mal
The whole maga movement started with that demo because he was so relatable to them.
Rory
I'm just saying, he's the swamp. Like, I just. I just don't. You know, to me, seeing Barack, you know, play the skin card is just. You didn't do that when you ran for president. Don't do it now. That's all. That's all I'm saying. Vote for whoever you want to vote for. November 5th election. Go out and vote, you know, whoever you vote for. Great. No, that's none of my business, but I just don't like to see Barack playing the skin card when you didn't do that when we was voting for you in 2008. So that's the only thing I like.
Mal
I introduced him, though.
Rory
And I didn't even like the way he was rapping those lyrics. Vomit on the sweater already, Mom. Spaghetti. What? Like, that don't sound like that.
Mal
That wasn't the pocket.
Rory
Oh, man, he sound. He sound like.
Mal
He sound like.
Rory
What's the name in Tropic?
Damaris
Th.
Rory
Him. It's like, come on, what are you doing? Like that. That sounded crazy, man.
Mal
Admittedly, I did not watch this.
Rory
A lot of rallies, so I don't usually get nervous.
Julian
Tease it up nice.
Mal
But I was an amazing public speaker.
Rory
Damn. I notice my palms are sweaty. Palms are sweat, knees, weak arms are heavy. Arms of heaven have it on my sweater already. More spaghetti. Spaghetti.
Mal
Don't do it. In the cadence of I have a dream when you're bringing out Eminem, talking about throwing up on himself.
Rory
What the is this?
Mal
I didn't.
Damaris
I hadn't heard this. That is hilarious.
Rory
Come on, fam. What are we doing right now?
Mal
God.
Rory
Y. Don't. This. This is not a movie.
Damaris
Like, I thought Ball was being dramatic.
Rory
What? I could never make that up. That's exactly what he did. This is shit that's going on right now. They talk about, go vote. What is this? Who am I voting for?
Mal
I mean.
Damaris
Oh, my God.
Mal
That is b. Rabbit was pretty much MLK's dreams.
Rory
This is craziness, man. This is. This is pure.
Damaris
No, Obama ate that, though.
Rory
No, he did not, man. He made himself look crazy. I know. His daughters was like, dad, come on, dad, you think?
Mal
Well, they were doing that his whole campaign. They were always. Yeah, always, like, cringe.
Julian
Dad, you think M's got motion in Michigan to swing the vote?
Rory
Fuck no. Hell, no, man. Michigan been through so much, you guys.
Mal
So, you guys, we've had this debate. I'm still going to live. Ignorance is bliss. I still don't think celebrities move the vote.
Julian
I don't either. I think it's embarrassing that they even do this.
Mal
We. We argued about however many episodes ago, and you guys said I was naive. I really don't think Kim Kardashian is moving votes. The only human being, period, maybe, would be Taylor Swift, maybe. But I don't think celebrities move the vote the way politicians think they do. I think it just looks cool to be next to them.
Rory
It looks cool, but then that's them trying to tap into a whole demographic and audience.
Mal
I think it's more for the celebrities of getting in to a space they're not in.
Damaris
Well, maybe it's not.
Mal
Let me go lobby with this person.
Rory
It's just corny to see rappers, like, be so involved in politics.
Mal
Oh, please. You loved Chef G in the Bronx with Trump.
Rory
I thought that was dope for them. Not.
Damaris
Not for hip hop, but hip hop.
Rory
For them being too young.
Mal
You love little pump with Trump being.
Rory
Young kids from Brooklyn that was in prison and all this other. Now they're home and they Trump. They're on the stage with Trump. Like, I think good look for them.
Mal
I think in theory, it's great for rappers to get behind candidates that they think will actually change the communities they come from. I think that in theory would be great, but that's kind of like a fairy tale that would never exist. But yeah, I guess awareness in that regard is. But Eminem is not changing anyone's vote. Kim Kardashian's not changing anyone's vote.
Damaris
I don't think it's about changing. I could be wrong, but I don't think it's about changing votes. I look at that. I look at stuff like this almost as, like, at the same way an ad or like a commercial is, because being that Eminem went and did that, we are now sitting here talking to our audience about politics. They're going to vote for who they're going to vote for, but you know which demographic is more likely to vote this way. So you get these people in front of this demographic just to remind them to vote. It's not trying to sway their vote. It's just to remind them to vote, because more than likely, they're going to. This demographic that listens to this person is going to vote this way. I think it's advertising.
Mal
That's a good point. I mean, especially With. With Puff. Fuck him. But that voter died. Shit. Trl, everything.
Julian
Yeah.
Mal
That got a lot of young people to vote Democrat.
Julian
We historically, as a country, have embarrassingly low voting turnout rates.
Mal
I think as far as first world countries, the lowest.
Julian
We're the worst. Yeah.
Mal
And that's why, like, it's not. It's not so much the undecided vote. Like, I think people have this theory that people in the middle like myself, we are the ones that swing elections. No, it's really just who from each party actually shows up to the polls. Yeah, of course, yes. In swing states, sure. Let's make sure the person in the middle comes on our side. But that has very little impact the way people think it does. It's just getting people to the poll. So I, I. You're right in your point. I guess celebrities will encourage. Encourage people to get there.
Rory
Vomit on the sweater already. Mom's spaghetti. He's nervous, but on the surface, he looks calm and ready. What? That's Eminem, Not Martin Luther.
Julian
The King.
Damaris
The Yo King. That was actually very, very funny.
Rory
That's like a SNL skit. That felt like an SNL skit, bro. I could see that on snl, not like real life, like Barack. Really? He really did that? Like, insane.
Julian
Damn, this country's bad.
Mal
We're weeks away.
Rory
I get it. Go out and vote, man.
Mal
But I'm also with you on the Beyonce thing. I. I saw the reports this morning, too.
Rory
I was like, I don't believe it.
Mal
I don't know if I see this happening.
Damaris
I don't not believe it.
Rory
The older I get, the more I understand Jordan back in the day when he never spoke on politics. I get it now. I understand it. And when everybody, I remember everybody killed Jordan, he wasn't speaking out on politics. And this, that third, he was like, I don't. That's not really my thing.
Mal
There's a difference between politics and issues. Like, I do think people with a voice should speak up on issues. You don't necessarily have to like Bron, whether you like him or not, think he should shut up a dribble or not. He speaks up about issues. Not always politics. Jordan just shut the up. Like, he didn't say anything.
Rory
But I understand it.
Mal
I get the politics side, but I.
Rory
Understand it when it's not your thing and it's not like, yo, I'm staying. I'm not getting into that. I'm not using my influence and my platform and my likeness to tell people who to vote for. I'm not doing that.
Mal
I get that. But he did tell on himself. It wasn't from that stance that you're explaining. He straight up said, I mean, Republicans buy sneakers too. I'm not. I'm just trying to sell sneakers.
Rory
That's all.
Mal
I don't want to say a word to up anything.
Rory
I'm so. I'm here for. I'm here to play ball, sell sneakers.
Mal
Speaking of Beyonce, how much money does she think we have?
Rory
She gonna find out.
Mal
How many products from Beyonce can I buy in one month?
Damaris
When the last time you bought a Beyonce product?
Rory
The album.
Mal
I bought the album.
Julian
Did you?
Mal
I still purchase albums.
Damaris
Like, yeah, I purchased albums of people I know you purchased.
Rory
Wait, what?
Damaris
Of people I know. I purchased albums of people I know.
Rory
Oh, okay. Yeah.
Damaris
If I know you, I'll buy your album.
Julian
Beyonce.
Rory
I thought she was saying, like, that's the only type of music she consumes. I'm about to be like, what?
Julian
Beyond. They're taking a second crack at a fragrance.
Damaris
I can't wait to buy it. Sentence to the group chat at 8am.
Mal
I'm sure it smells great. I'm sure the whiskey is good. It's just, like.
Julian
Still haven't had that whiskey.
Damaris
The other one on right now, actually.
Rory
You want Beyonce's perfume right now?
Mal
Yeah.
Rory
What is it called?
Julian
What's that for, like, 2008?
Damaris
Say noir.
Rory
Say Noir.
Julian
I thought that was the whiskey's name.
Damaris
No, that's Sir Davis. Oh, say Noir. Came out about a year ago around Christmas. She get us every Christmas.
Mal
I like her name in that because I'm sure Hov could come up with at least 15 entendres with that. Say any more? Rhymes with mad shit.
Rory
And this is say Lumiere.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mal
Oh, yeah. Hov is gonna. He's gonna smoke those two names together. Roomy and sir are somehow gonna be in between those two.
Damaris
I see it. I see it.
Julian
60 a bottle. Is that like, a standard for a perfume?
Damaris
For a luxury perfume?
Mal
Yeah.
Damaris
And it's really. It smells really, really good.
Mal
Joe Malone be cracking my head.
Rory
Smells good. Yeah.
Damaris
Playing around.
Julian
No.
Damaris
It smells good. Hey, he can't hate it. Smells good.
Mal
I actually had to pause first. I was like, what y'all about to do?
Damaris
No, he sniffed it.
Julian
I licked it. Yeah.
Damaris
Yeah. But it does smell good.
Rory
Okay.
Damaris
So I can't wait to smell the new one. She be in our pockets bad. It's hard being a Beyonce fan but her shit. But I don't. So when Beyonce comes out with shit, I don't mind buying it, because I know it's gonna be quality, so I don't care.
Julian
Yeah, that's true.
Mal
Like what? She's probably gonna have a tour in 2025.
Julian
Like all your fun tokens.
Mal
And what's annoying with Beyonce, all her merch is like fire too. Yep. Yes, that's annoying. Like give. Give us like a six month break. Like let it stack up and then come back.
Rory
You gonna wear your Beyonce perfume to the concert?
Damaris
Yeah, for sure.
Mal
That whole stadium is gonna smell like that every. Every single person.
Rory
That's how you get in. Let me smell you. Yep, that's Saint Lumiere. That's Pierre Cardin.
Mal
Nope, he's got the little cardboard thing. Yes, you.
Rory
Yeah. She wearing that. Salumiere let her in.
Julian
Well, in. In speaking of someone that's not going to hit you over the head with a high cost ticket, we had a very, very good conversation about Tyler, the creator on Patreon. Yeah, that comes out Monday.
Mal
That I day before his album.
Julian
Really encouraged from a copia to check out. It's a. It's a very educational and informative conversation.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Tyler fan. It was a good conversation.
Julian
We're not going to get into that. But he is. He just announced today that he's going to do a listening party at the Inuit in intuit dome in LA and he's doing $5 tickets.
Rory
I can't wait to see that arena. Like get to la, see that new arena.
Mal
So can you give me the backstory on that arena? That's new.
Rory
That's the Clippers new.
Mal
Okay, I wasn't familiar.
Julian
It's going to be the.
Mal
Where's it at in la?
Rory
Inglewood.
Mal
Oh, so it's where the old stadium was or where the Forum is.
Rory
Not too far, I'm thinking. I don't think it's too far. It is in Inglewood, right?
Julian
Yeah, yeah. Two billion dollar dome, three stadiums.
Rory
Now the SOFI stadium, Intuit Dome. And the form is still in Englewood, right? Yeah, yeah.
Mal
Oh, I know. That Inglewood family's eating off those tourists. Yeah, it's a dangerous area. Just throw some, some stage.
Rory
That's. That's the thing. It ain't cleaning that up.
Julian
No, they're. They're okay. They're doing it.
Mal
You could put the Barclays right there in Brooklyn. Go three blocks.
Rory
I mean, that's anywhere though. That's anywhere. You go four blocks, anywhere the wrong way and you into some shit.
Mal
Yeah, well, yeah. I didn't know that this was a whole new thing. I wasn't paying attention. But I am excited. I Hope they stream this.
Rory
I'm sure they will.
Mal
Who do we think pops up chromacopia canon them? Do we think all the features will be there live? I think Tyler did say that he wasn't performing. He will just be standing in the middle of the venue lip singing to new sounds. This event cost $5.
Rory
Well, yeah, $5 to get in. I'm not performing either. Y'all gonna hit his music though.
Mal
I mean, it's a listening session.
Rory
Yeah, I'm not performing.
Mal
Also, I will say as a fan, a fan of any artist at the Garden years ago, which I was so mad I missed, as a fan of music, I wouldn't want to hear an album for the first time with an artist performing it. No, I would prefer that Tyler hits play on his iPhone. It just gives us cool visuals. I wanna hear the music and if.
Rory
It'S hard, like, if it's dope, it stop it. Yeah. Started from the top.
Mal
Like, I mean, the moment. The moment Cudi and Kanye had at the Garden for Father Stretch My arms was like one of the coolest listening moments ever. It was around the time that the Kardashians dragged immensely in stable Lamar Odom in front of 20, 000 people.
Rory
But the only thing I don't like about that is fans are not gonna be honest there. Because first of all, anybody going to that is a Tyler fan. So if he starts playing music from the album and you don't like it, you ain't gonna boo. You ain't gonna be like, next track.
Mal
I've been to y'all listening sessions. No one has ever.
Rory
That's what I'm saying.
Mal
I've definitely thought in my head, like, this one ain't it can't wait for this song to be done to go to the next one.
Rory
Yeah, but it say that. Yell that at the end to it, though.
Julian
At the end.
Rory
Next track, like, why not?
Julian
If that trash staying on Tyler. He announced the 10 year anniversary of Camp Flogna. The lineup was. It was done in a really cool way. Did a crossword.
Mal
Yeah, it was cool.
Rory
But like, whoever name you see first, you should get free tickets to go to see the performance. Who the is Omar Apollo? Yo, first name I saw now I.
Mal
Very talented Art.
Rory
Yeah, I with Omar.
Mal
That was really dope. Yeah, I did like the layout. I thought it was a really cool idea. But like, as an adult with responsibilities, just. Just list me out. Who's there?
Rory
You said who?
Mal
As an adult with responsibilities, I didn't have time to just go through.
Rory
Oh, they go Your man Tommy Richmond. Dochi. Okay.
Julian
And they're connected.
Rory
That's hip hop.
Mal
I see Jordan Ward, my guy Blood.
Julian
Orange, he's got three stacks.
Damaris
Sexy rap.
Julian
Ooh, Mike G. Nice. Mustard Blood Orange.
Rory
Okay.
Mal
I'm so happy that Three Stacks is living in its purpose, but he's on like 15 festivals.
Julian
MF doom is on here.
Mal
Where do you see that?
Rory
Right here.
Julian
17 down.
Rory
Oh, yeah. Okay.
Mal
Curious how the they're doing, like a tribute. Oh, it's a tribute.
Rory
Okay.
Julian
Okay.
Mal
Well, I mean, I know Earl and Tyler were huge Doom fans. That makes sense.
Rory
Absolutely.
Julian
Schoolboy, Q Mall, Denzel Curry, Mustard, Erykah Badu.
Mal
Yo, first of all, on that Drake fan page, they listed out all his ops in a alphabetical order.
Damaris
It's just.
Mal
Rory, what the fuck you say? Like, why am I on that shit?
Damaris
That shit had me crying.
Rory
You talking greasy.
Mal
No, I don't.
Rory
You do.
Mal
I'm an objective fan.
Rory
No, but you be talking.
Julian
Can't be objective. Rory, 2024.
Damaris
That's not fair that you on there.
Rory
And low.
Damaris
Not low should be on there.
Mal
True. Yeah, Low is definitely te.
Julian
It's a long ass list. Damn, you got mad ops.
Mal
Say fuck me for. I saw mine. I was laughing at.
Damaris
Chad Dorsey sent me.
Mal
I started laughing at it because it was in alphabetical order and kept scrolling and then saw my name. I was like, he's in between right after.
Rory
Rockefeller is crazy.
Julian
It's Rockefeller, Roddy Rich, Rory, Russell, Westbrook.
Mal
Now the Rs is go through the whole Rs. I think the Rs is killing it. Rihanna, Rick Ross, Rockefeller, Roddy Rich, Rory Russell, Westbrook. That's a pretty good lineup. As far as the other letters of.
Julian
The album, look at this. The NBA, the NFL, everybody. The MTV, VMAs, the Grammys.
Rory
It's up with everybody that.
Mal
Yo, I still can't get out of my mind. That mall said someone should boo if they don't like a song at a listening session.
Rory
Yeah, that. Turn that off. That ain't it. Like why we just can't be honest and yell, like. Certain.
Damaris
You didn't do that at Rory's when he was doing his speech?
Mal
Because when he clowned me for a year and a half about it, I come.
Rory
Because you said you wasn't gonna speak and then you spoke for two hours. Me and Raven was in the background. I was like, Raven, you know, he about to talk for two hours. She was like, 100%.
Mal
And that. See, that's not fair because that's one of my close friends. That just talks shit about me to my face. Don't, like, team up with the person that shits on me the most.
Damaris
Why you keep pointing?
Rory
Because me and Ravi was back there, and we just knew Rory was about to give the long. He was like, I'm not talk. Come on. I just. I just. I just text you earlier. Y'all are my friends. My friends are here. Me and Ravi, like, watch this.
Mal
Okay?
Rory
I was.
Mal
I was forced to talk, but if you're going to do something, do it 100%.
Damaris
Give y all.
Mal
So if I'm going to do it, why not?
Rory
Then he say like that and how I refuse. I can't. I can't. Can't debate that. That's like, somebody like, where you from? I'm from the blood of Christ. All right, you gonna beat this up. You can't beat a up that say something like that.
Julian
It's like when lrae kick talking about.
Rory
Yo, Jesus loves you. We can't shoot the that says Jesus loves us. We got to say, yo, close the door. Like.
Mal
It's my only like response to two people that know me very well and can clown me accurately. Those are the worst people. The people that know you and can clown you accurately.
Rory
It's the best.
Mal
You know, he about to just ramble for the next.
Rory
I said, he's not putting that mic there. I'm let y'all know right now we are not getting that microphone back.
Mal
What's a listening session you've been to that you would boo? I've been to a lot of listening sessions.
Rory
Snitch that I would boo.
Mal
That you thought in your head, maybe I should boo.
Rory
I'm unknown artist. I've never been to, like, a. A known artist listening session. It was like, yo, this is trash. But we did go to a movie screening once. It was trash. I think I talked about that before, didn't I?
Mal
No.
Rory
God bless. We went to the movie screening. Charlie Murphy was screening a movie downtown years ago, and me, Biggs, Dame a few of us went. And he was playing the movie. And it started off funny. The first ten minutes was funny. But then it just went bad. And God bless Charlie Murphy legend, but that shit was bad. But we. It's Charlie, though, and he's sitting in there in the room with us. We all watching it together. We ain't want to say this shit was trash there. Cause we fuck with Charlie and we love him. But when we got back in the car, we was like, yo, that shit was bad, man. That was one time where I would have Been like, yo, can we turn this off? Like, this ain't really it.
Mal
Yo. This wasn't a listening session per se. I went to that. I pick downtown. Swizz and Nas were premiering the Echo video.
Rory
Okay.
Mal
Which is, to me, a classic song.
Rory
Okay.
Mal
And I was like, I mean, that's kind of. It's like four minutes, but it. Swizz and Nas are gonna be there, intimate. I'm a fan. So we go, we watch it. And of course, the song is four minutes, so it's a very quick event. And they're like, we'll play it again. I was like, mix. I mean, you gotta fill some time here. It's one song.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
Then they come out to do a Q A and a Q A from one song. Yeah. Amazing video and amazing song. And it's Swizz and Nas. Like it. Let's talk about anything.
Rory
Let's make it.
Mal
I. I want to say Swizz misspoke. I hope to God he misspoke. But it was the most awkward Q A because NASA just put out his album with Kanye. What was the name of that album? I hate to say bad words about Nas.
Rory
The Sevens track Joint. Yeah.
Mal
Not really my favorite. Oh, Nazir. So that had just came out, and I forgot what the first question was, but Swizz was like, yeah. I mean, Echo. Some people are saying, like, this song is better than, like, the whole Nazir album. Nas is sitting next to him.
Damaris
That's up.
Mal
I think I was with Low. And we looked at each other like, did he just say that?
Rory
Swiss thought he was giving a compliment.
Mal
Yes.
Rory
It's like, fam. This one song is better than his whole last album. That's crazy.
Julian
The opening shot of this video is Rory at the club by myself, giving it. Giving a toast.
Mal
Oh, I mean, naturally, with the wine glass. I saw Elliot had just posted a photo of the 12 year anniversary of Good Kid Mad City. In that listening session. I was there. That was one of my favorite listening sessions. I was at Chung King. I left the 444 listening session the moment Kill. Jay Z started and he started rapping about Solange. I. I left the spot to go get an Uber and listen to it, like, with my headphones on.
Rory
You didn't want to hear that in person.
Mal
He started going. I said, nah, I'm not staying at the 4040 club for this.
Rory
Yeah, let me get out of here.
Mal
I'm not here to party.
Rory
Oh, man. Hey, Julian.
Julian
Yep. We got any voicemails that time, isn't it?
Mal
There's one From Nasir.
Rory
You've got mail. Look at that.
Julian
We're not playing that one. Okay. Yeah, so we ended on a really sad note last time. So let's. Let's pick up the.
Rory
Oh, and a friend of mine that follows me, she's a. She's a actual therapist, and she is willing to offer therapy to that young man.
Mal
Oh, do you still have his email? Let's.
Julian
I never had. I never have the. I didn't get the email. If he could, like, I told him to DM me or the POD account me would be better. But if you did call back in and leave your email, like the callback.
Rory
Leave me email. Got somebody that's willing to, you know, sit and talk with you and love that, you know, I mean, get you some. Get you back on the. On the right path mentally.
Julian
For free, by the way.
Rory
Yeah. So just, you know, I mean, like, make sure we get your information so we can reach out to you.
Mal
I love that. Also, Julian, I assume that couple never.
Julian
Reached back out, so I haven't gotten it yet.
Rory
No.
Mal
If you guys are listening, the Rosenbergs and Chevy Chase, please email us.
Rory
All right. Is this. Is this kind of petty to have this grudge? So when I was younger, my Finding Nemo came out at the time. My name is Chemo. My parents divorced around that time, so I went to school with my cousins, and they. They used to tell me, hey, Chemo, go find your dad. I use the lines from Nemo to insinuate that I'm looking for my dad, and I harvest that resentment for the movie. I just want to know, am I bugging for harboring a resentment for a movie that. That had catastrophic trauma towards me that had. I had to go to therapy for that? But, yeah, am I crazy for harping in that resentment towards a movie?
Mal
Chemo, you were. You were raised in the right era and you had the right friends.
Julian
Yep.
Mal
That probably built some character.
Rory
And your dad left. We. We tying that together.
Mal
Teed up.
Rory
What am I supposed to do? Act like that ain't that don't go together.
Mal
I'll throw an alley and I won't dunk.
Julian
His name's Kima. Wait till his hair falls out.
Rory
See, this is what Julian. He. Sometimes he.
Julian
Well, I'm like his cousin.
Rory
Like, he knows where the line is, and then he just.
Julian
I'll have family, cousins.
Rory
It overhand smash.
Julian
Can't find his dad or the hair.
Mal
As the late Charlie Murphy would say, he's a habitual line stuff.
Rory
Yeah. Like. Like, what's up with you?
Mal
Man, I mean, I'm glad. I'm glad he got the therapy through that traumatic. But, I mean, I don't know. That's. I'm not sure how old he is. My friends make fun of me all the time for similar.
Rory
My friends still make fun of me. My homeboy is locked up doing 16 years, and every time he calls me, he insults me. Yeah, I'm like, you know, where you calling me from? Like, the. How you call me? Talking greasy. You in jail?
Julian
Go get more dimes.
Rory
Like, what are you talking about? But that's what friends supposed to do. We supposed to tease, you talk. But like I said, we the only ones that could do it. Yeah, the ops can't do it. Anybody else better not talk about you.
Damaris
You can't be mad at your friends and mad at the movie because your dad left. That's what you really mad at. You mad?
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
You mad cause your dad left?
Rory
Yeah. And we beat your dad up.
Julian
That's a great movie, too.
Mal
I don't know where that ties in.
Damaris
It's such a good movie.
Mal
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Julian
For sure.
Mal
Yeah.
Rory
Yeah. You left, my friend.
Mal
Yeah. It's not Dory's fault. It's your dad's fault.
Rory
Yeah, let's jump your father when he come back for Thanksgiving.
Damaris
Dory don't remember that your dad left.
Mal
For real.
Julian
I was gonna say she had a bad memory.
Mal
That could be your therapy. Be more like Dory. And I like Nemo.
Julian
Oh, I. Speaking of, since Ron Pixar, I watch Inside out, too. Finally.
Damaris
You cried. Did you cry?
Julian
I didn't cry. No.
Damaris
Really?
Rory
Such a great movie.
Damaris
Do you suffer from anxiety, though?
Julian
I mean, everyone od, but, like.
Damaris
Yeah, yeah.
Julian
The anxiety is the new personality that steals the show. This. This is her.
Rory
That's anxiety.
Julian
Yeah.
Damaris
Yeah.
Rory
The Pixie cut.
Julian
She smokes it.
Damaris
No, that's Joy.
Julian
That's Joy.
Rory
Oh, Anxiety is the other one with the.
Mal
The one that looks like me.
Julian
The one that looks like me.
Rory
The one that looks like Rory.
Julian
Yeah. Yeah. This is Rory.
Mal
Thank you for giving Peach the new artwork. Great.
Julian
That is Rory.
Rory
That is Rory. Definitely.
Julian
Yeah.
Damaris
You guys still haven't seen it?
Mal
No, I haven't.
Rory
I hate Rory.
Damaris
You definitely need to watch it.
Julian
Or you should. It's really, really good.
Rory
You might cry, though.
Damaris
And you could watch it with Amar, because she'll like it because it's, like, bright colors and noises and stuff. But it's made for adults.
Julian
It really is an adult anxiety out the gate. Yeah.
Mal
What's the Overall?
Rory
But it's Supposed to teach kids how to identify with their emotions. Right? Is that what you're supposed to do?
Julian
Yeah.
Damaris
So the original.
Julian
The girl. Damn. What's her name? I don't remember the little girl's name in the movie. It doesn't really matter. But she is young in the first one and then moves to. She moves from Michigan to San Francisco in this. And that's where we pick up in the second one. And now she's older. She's a teenager, so she's in middle school. And as one does like she, you know, like it's getting her period. And then she takes on anxiety and like all these new emotions come into. Into play as she becomes older, as she enters her teenage years.
Mal
How do cartoons get.
Rory
Never mind.
Julian
They're people. No, they're so they're worth. This is inside her mind.
Mal
Okay.
Julian
She's a real girl.
Mal
Okay, so she has a real.
Damaris
But those are her emotions, are the characters are her emotions. Like I said, Joy, anxiety. There's nostalgia that keeps trying to pop out a little bit too early.
Mal
Is there an actual period?
Julian
This is the girl. So you're kind of tousling between her real life, which is. This is her. And then in her mind are the emotions.
Mal
Okay, so it's like a big mouth.
Damaris
Kinda. Yeah, a lot. But. But nicer.
Mal
Yes, I get it.
Damaris
Freaky.
Mal
I'll watch it.
Julian
It's really good. Yeah, they. This broke a bunch of box office stuff too.
Rory
Are you sure? Because Rory said that yesterday and we don't.
Damaris
Wait, what happened yesterday?
Rory
We debunked that whole thing.
Julian
Funniest moments on Patreon.
Damaris
What happened?
Rory
Rory just. He jumped out with some info.
Mal
Sometimes you gotta kill.
Rory
Now listen. Swing. Swing. You know I'm a fan. Just swing it. Just can y'all.
Damaris
Okay.
Julian
Some video. Some music video.
Rory
He said some music video broke. All kind of like. Like YouTube records. Like most viewed one of the most views and we looked at it.
Mal
What was the music video they have to go on? Patreon.
Rory
Patreon. It's hilarious.
Mal
I will say we.
Rory
We. Look, he looked that video up. That had 28 million.
Mal
Ari shaking her ass has more views today than it was.
Julian
It was such an egregious like, just.
Mal
And I think I used the word. I think I said shattered.
Julian
Yeah, he said it shattered. Right?
Rory
And.
Julian
I just Google real. I just go to the YouTube and look and I was like, it has 28 million.
Mal
And I was still confident. That must be another page. That's their vivo.
Rory
Roy was like, that's not their vivo. Though I'm like, what? That's. That's their page. What the are you talking about?
Mal
Yes. Go to Patreon to see that full combo. Very funny.
Rory
So funny. Video is cool, though. It's a cool video.
Mal
One of those combos. You just had to sit there silently and shut the up because you know you're wrong.
Rory
That was pure.
Julian
That was.
Rory
That was classic.
Julian
Talk about our caller getting smoked. We smoke Roy for like 10 minutes after.
Rory
Oh, my God. But that's like classic. That's what happens in the barbershop. Barbershop facts is crazy. The. We stayed in the barbershop, like, what?
Mal
And then you don't even reply to it because you don't even want to go down.
Rory
Yeah, you like, you be in your.
Mal
Head, like, wow, that was the dumbest thing I've ever heard. But I'm not going to engage because I don't even want to do this.
Rory
Nothing is worse than being in the chair while people in the shop is having a sick ass conversation. And your barber, like, he got to get into it.
Mal
Yeah, like, cut my hair.
Rory
I'm like, fam, this. This conversation is so dumb. I just want to leave, finish my haircut.
Julian
They just float the clippers near your head.
Rory
Yeah, they don't cut exactly.
Julian
Like Anthony Edwards with that Gatorade. It's a clip.
Rory
You just get into the next one.
Mal
All right, Nemo, I'm glad you've gotten Chemo.
Julian
Nemo.
Rory
Kimo Sabi.
Mal
I still think he had great friends and I'm glad they were also not his friends.
Julian
Those are his cousins and they're also.
Damaris
They were kids.
Rory
That's what's supposed to happen. Chemo cut this, man. You want to watch, right?
Julian
Say something back. Make fun of it.
Damaris
But it's not weird that you harbor resentment. It's actually very self aware that you're aware of the fact you harbor.
Rory
Harbor.
Mal
One of my friends, Wyatt was his name. I told him I was gonna go visit my dad and he replied with, I didn't know you had one.
Rory
Love it.
Julian
Love it.
Rory
Never seen him, never met him. And you know him. Great.
Mal
I was like, yeah, how do you think I got here? Like, I got a dad.
Rory
And I know.
Mal
Why would you even.
Rory
We hang out and like, yeah, it's really cool.
Mal
And then I had a friend say that my face looks like someone threw shit through a screen door. Like, classic, you know?
Rory
Come on. Classic.
Mal
My freckles aren't that bad.
Rory
No, they're not.
Mal
Anyways, next one. I had left out some information.
Rory
Forgot who the is that. What was the first information? Hey, what's good Mall? The marriage. Rory Julian is Christian, 22 year old.
Mal
I called him before about tricking. Rory said to get one off for.
Rory
Us in the money. Great advice.
Mal
I recently started talking to this Middle Eastern shorty again. I've known her since high school on and off. She always gets a boyfriend.
Julian
Ironically, their wife, she says she's taking.
Mal
Care of all her family and she's.
Rory
Too busy to text back and all that stuff. But I don't know if that's true. You know, I had sent her 200.
Julian
Bones for an ass picture and some titty pictures.
Mal
I didn't see anything.
Rory
The nipples were covered up. She had a thong on all that.
Julian
She said she's too busy to hang.
Mal
Out and you know all that stuff. But I just want to know do.
Julian
You think she's too busy or.
Mal
She does not feeling the 200.
Damaris
I didn't even know they make like me still out here. They still out here.
Rory
They.
Mal
You paid 200 for a photo?
Julian
I'm not gonna.
Mal
Of course she's not feeling you.
Julian
I'm not gonna play the second one. But he called again and said she wants this thing which I'm sure Demaris has heard of, called a boo basket.
Damaris
I've never heard of that.
Julian
Well, it's filled with like candy, flowers, blankets, etc. It's basically just like a gift basket full of it. And he said, should he call this a dub and get another Middle Eastern shoddy is what he said. He said, but she's also a black belt and he thinks that's cool. He said he's also never had a Japanese woman and he thinks those are high on his list too.
Mal
Oh, so he just might be an early.
Rory
He's just a trick. He's just a trick and he's just willing to.
Julian
He said, I never tried Japanese. That's how he said it, by the way. Yeah, he said it like it was like a food dish.
Mal
Nemo, can you.
Damaris
I'm not saying.
Mal
The therapist that you met with.
Damaris
I know there was still real left.
Julian
Shout out to the Middle Eastern woman. I hope she's Lebanese.
Rory
What?
Mal
I mean gang, you're. It's like herb. Like he. You're a mark.
Rory
No, he's a trick.
Julian
Well, he's going off the information. You can.
Damaris
No, but I know. I know tricks. There's tricks and there's marks. He give mark.
Rory
Yeah, he's on the mark.
Mal
He's not.
Rory
He's not in front of the girl.
Julian
To trick more cast.
Rory
He's a trick.
Mal
What was the advice I gave him? I didn't understand.
Julian
Remember, he said, I just came into a little bit of money, like, I'm for work. And he said, I'm doing really well for myself. And he said, you know, I'm feeling myself, and I kind of want to start just spending it on women. And you were like, that's not what I mentally said, yeah, bro, do your thing, king.
Mal
And you want to go out.
Damaris
No, Rory said, beat off before you do that. Horny.
Rory
That's what money. It didn't be like, yo, I just want to, you know, spend money on women. That is a mental disease, bro. That's where your mind went.
Mal
No, that's not the mental disease. It's paying 200 for a nude. And she just sends a half nude photo and then goes, do you guys think she's feeling me?
Julian
She probably has more risque photos on her Instagram.
Mal
You paid 200 for a regular photo and asked, do you think she feeling me? No.
Damaris
And that's.
Mal
We don't have to prolong this one.
Rory
No.
Damaris
That's the difference between a mark and a trick. Because a trick knows, like, they already know what it's hitting for. They know the game. A mark is just like, oh, you a horny. That's getting taken advantage of.
Rory
Yeah, he's both of them. He's all of those things. This nigga's a unicorn. He's a marketer. Trick. He's a mick.
Damaris
Ass.
Mal
This is racist. This is.
Rory
Damn. I ain't even.
Damaris
Oh, my bad.
Mal
Yo, Nemo. Nemo, I need your therapist.
Rory
You know, my friends be.
Mal
Treat me like I wasn't trying to tie that. I was crazy, man.
Rory
That's definitely not what I was trying to do.
Mal
Mick is pretty much the same as the N word.
Rory
My bad. I'm so sorry.
Julian
There's no difference.
Rory
Yeah, I'm. My bad. I'm sorry. So sorry. She's the exact same thing.
Damaris
I want to feel bad for him, but he keeps referencing women by Women by their race. Like. Like, it's a. I'm telling you, I'm.
Rory
He.
Julian
I'm doing him a favor by not playing the second one. It's really. He's talking about him like he's at, like, a buffet.
Rory
And he's like, I already know Middle.
Julian
Eastern is a black belt to do with anything.
Mal
It would have been worse if he assumed the Japanese one was.
Rory
Yo, this.
Mal
I don't know. I feel like she lives in, like, a dojo or some. I don't know.
Rory
Yeah, she, like, grew up in a dojo.
Julian
She bows.
Mal
I went to her house, and I hit a gong to let her know I was there.
Rory
Every time I see her, she bows. Yo, man. Yo, what's his name? Christian. Christian, you are a trick. Yo, that is crazy.
Mal
That was not the advice I gave him whatsoever. Like, if you got a little bit.
Rory
Of money, saying, like, it's tomorrow now. So, yeah, he ready to trick again. Like, he's like, all right, that was cool for yesterday, but, like, it's today.
Mal
Maybe he needs to beat off more.
Julian
He called five days ago. He definitely got some off in those five days.
Damaris
Complaining about the new. Getting the nude after the money and complaining about.
Rory
It's not even a nude. I know you can't see no titties and no. What are you. What are you looking at, then?
Mal
200 for a thong photo? Yo, open your IG.
Rory
Yeah, that's.
Julian
That's what I'm saying, bro.
Rory
Just.
Julian
That's crazy. Maybe he would open her ig.
Mal
It doesn't change. Maybe he was expecting, like, more of.
Rory
A news, and then. And then he tied.
Mal
He should have negotiated. Yo, if you got money, I figure you could negotiate better than that. 200 for some.
Rory
His upper thigh, his brain went to. Because she was covering parts up that. Oh, she shy.
Mal
She.
Rory
She like.
Mal
She's trying to tease me. She, like, please stop.
Rory
That's where your brain went. Christian, get out the house and wash your hands. All right? And then punishing yourself every night.
Mal
Yo, Ma, I kind of want to hear the second one now.
Julian
Should I play it? Yeah, all right. I'll play it. Why not? Here you go.
Rory
Wait.
Mal
Baltimore's back?
Julian
Oh, yeah. I was gonna say. I was gonna let you guys know, but here. Let's go to. Here he is.
Mal
I had left out some information.
Rory
Please.
Mal
Forgot to put it in.
Rory
Please give us this information.
Mal
She wants a boo basket, which is basically just Halloween candy, a blanket, some candles, all that shit, all that flowers and all that.
Rory
But she don't want me to send it to her house. She wants to meet me and then take it.
Mal
So I don't know if she doesn't want her family to know about me. She doesn't want to know. She doesn't want you to know where she lives.
Rory
She said she likes me and I'm cute and all that, but I'm just. I don't know. I think she's trying to stick me for my paper.
Mal
For real? You didn't get that?
Julian
So should I call this a dub.
Mal
And try to find Mr. Shorty?
Rory
Or what? Because I'm trying to get certain races off the list. I've done everything.
Julian
Wait, this is. He's heating up.
Mal
Wait, wait, hold on.
Rory
I'm trying to get certain races out of here. Cross them off the list. He sounds like Hitler.
Mal
Why? Just.
Damaris
What the.
Julian
Trying to take them all down.
Mal
But look. Look at how he views the girl that he likes.
Rory
Likes.
Mal
If she's a dub, I'll just go find another Middle Eastern.
Julian
Middle Eastern shot.
Mal
So, wait, you didn't like her? You just like the idea of a Middle Eastern?
Rory
That's it.
Julian
Wait a little.
Rory
It's so funny. And try to find another Middle Eastern shorty or what? Cause I'm trying to get certain races off the list. I've done everything but Japanese and Middle Eastern.
Mal
So I don't know if I'm conflicted just trying to get the Middle Eastern.
Rory
Off the list or what.
Julian
I mean, I genuinely do like her.
Rory
And I can see me going out with.
Mal
Because she's like, you know, fine.
Rory
Speak multiple languages, black belt, taekwondo, all that cool. But I don't know if she's trying.
Mal
To play me for the herd, so. Advice. Great on that.
Rory
You sound like Danny McBride.
Julian
It's a black belt.
Rory
You know, she's liking it. Japanese. And, like, what?
Mal
You know what's funny? She's probably not Japanese. She's probably, like, Korean.
Rory
Exactly. He's like.
Mal
I also want to know what, like, his idea of the race scale is, is. Judging by his ignorance, it's probably just black, white, Middle Eastern, Asian. That's probably how he sees it.
Rory
It's all that's out there for him. Crossing him off the list. That's a sick list to be trying to cross off, man. Like, what are you doing? Also, wait, how old is he?
Julian
20.
Rory
What?
Julian
I think 23, 24.
Rory
He young. Young.
Mal
But also to answer his question, why she wants to meet you in person to get that basket is because she does not want you to know where she lives.
Julian
Yeah, true.
Mal
It's pretty obvious. And also from my advice, if you do want to, quote, unquote, trick on a woman. Yes. Get her a nice basket and court her. Don't give her 200 for an ass photo.
Rory
But he giving a boo basket. They got a blanket to me.
Mal
That's fine. I think that's fine.
Rory
Who's she going on a picnic with? It ain't him.
Damaris
Girls just like, blankets.
Rory
Mall in a basket with candy and, like, here. Like.
Mal
Like candles, too.
Rory
Yeah. Why we ain't gonna put this on the grass right here? Let's Eat this right here.
Mal
A bad Middle Eastern joke, but thank you. I'm glad I kept it so much.
Rory
I'm glad. I'm glad you kept it to yourself, Rory. Proud of you.
Damaris
I want to feel bad for him, but he is not a good person, so I can't.
Rory
He's young man, 22. He don't.
Damaris
You did like that. 22.
Rory
Probably. I probably should check off racing.
Julian
I said some wild.
Rory
I probably got some wild off when I was 20.
Mal
Oh, for sure.
Julian
But thank God I didn't have a microphone.
Mal
Thank God I didn't have 200 students on the outside.
Julian
Yeah.
Rory
Like, it's just like that. So I understand. Like, okay, he's just. He wants to experience different types of women. He don't. He's not saying. He's saying in a way where it sounds crazy, but what he's saying is he wants to just experience relationships with different women. Like, I understand that the way he's left that voicemail sounds crazy, but I get it. I understand. It's like, okay, you never dated a. In a Spanish girl you never dated a Asian girl you never dated. All right? That's what you should.
Damaris
But if this. If this Spanish one ain't acting right, I'ma just take my ass up the dykeman and get another one.
Julian
Yeah, it's like Pokemon.
Rory
It sounds crazy the way he's framing it. Yes.
Damaris
Or it could just be.
Rory
If you want to experience, you know, relationships with a. With a. With a Latin woman, there's nothing wrong with that.
Mal
It kind of sounds as crazy as I've had everything from black and white and in between. So. What you mean same type of.
Rory
Why did Drake say that he was trying to figure out what homie was saying? Like, I've been with them all, fam.
Mal
Like, you know, I didn't need Drake to confirm that he's probably every race at one. I really didn't. I. I think we all assumed that he has fucked black and white and everything in between. Baltimore's back.
Julian
Baltimore.
Rory
What?
Julian
Rory.
Rory
Nigga, I said it.
Julian
What? Baltimore, if you've been. He's one of our favorite callers, and he has a funny situation, and I think he knows that we love his accent, so he leans in.
Rory
How many twos is too much?
Mal
Yeah, our next D.C. show. We need to, like, pay for his train ticket. It. He has to come on stage. He's my favorite caller by far.
Julian
Yeah. Here he goes to you.
Rory
What's up, Rory M. Damaris Julian.
Mal
My question is.
Rory
Is a little simple. Basically, it's A girl I used to talk to. And, oh, by the way, I'm not 22 no more. I'm 23 now, so you got to.
Mal
Hear me say that no more.
Damaris
Thank God.
Rory
But yeah, girl I used to talk to.
Mal
And basically.
Julian
Basically, she.
Rory
We were going dates here and there, on and off, and she basically asked me one day, hey, do you want to go get sushi?
Mal
He's leaning into it now, but I appreciate it.
Rory
Damn.
Julian
I've never heard someone say that.
Rory
Sushi. Did that say sushi?
Mal
I've only heard Snoop from the Wire refer to it that way.
Julian
Hold on, hold on.
Rory
Go get sushi. Basically asked me one day, hey, do you want to go get sushi?
Damaris
You.
Rory
I said, right now? Not really.
Damaris
Cool.
Rory
I'm a little broke right now.
Mal
Ain't no money really coming in. She responds with, well, who says you have to pay? I said, o, that's a queen.
Julian
Nice.
Rory
She. She said, okay, so when do you want to go? Do you want to go today? I said, not today. That was like. That was probably like a Tuesday.
Mal
She said, okay, what about tomorrow? No, not really. Then I said, can you do Friday?
Rory
She said, sure, we go Friday. We go.
Julian
We go to downtown Baltimore.
Rory
We go eating sushi or whatever.
Mal
And the bill comes. I'm still.
Rory
I'm still eating. Like, I'm looking face down in my food. I'm not even.
Mal
I'm not even looking up right now.
Rory
The bill comes like a baddie. She gets to looking at me. I look up, I'm. I still got food on my face. I'm like, what's going on?
Mal
She said, are you not gonna pay?
Rory
I said, didn't you say you was going to pay? She said to me, that was two.
Mal
Days ago, but that was only for that specific day. Okay, well, he has such bad luck with women.
Rory
That's crazy.
Damaris
I'm making fun of him.
Julian
But said they ended up having a small conversation at the dinner table, but then she ended up getting up and getting her wallet out of the car and paying.
Rory
He's never gonna see that girl again.
Mal
But she is wrong.
Damaris
She is wrong for that.
Mal
It's definitely wrong.
Rory
Yeah, but she offered that two days ago on Tuesday.
Mal
What about tomorrow? And then Friday ended up being the day that worked. Like, that's usually the same offer.
Damaris
Payday, payday. She did that on purpose.
Julian
You said money was.
Damaris
Oh, no, he was the one. Oh, yeah, you're right. First of all, somebody offering to take you to a free meal, a girl at that. And you just like, not today. Yeah, not tomorrow. I mean, all right.
Mal
Hustle. You get his money up? Needed three days, he ain't pay.
Rory
That's wild, Oliver. Like, going out with a girl, you absolutely can't. Can't afford the bill.
Mal
Well, first of all, he was honest.
Damaris
Anyway.
Rory
I won't go out with my friends. I can't pay for that.
Damaris
Yeah.
Rory
So, bro, I don't give a. I'm never going, like, all right, they got me. No.
Julian
What should he have done them? Because if, say, assuming he still wants to see her and hang out with her, but he's like, I just can't afford a dinner right now.
Rory
Sound like you might have to. You might have to put some. Some turkey sandwiches on the. In the crib or something. Something light. It got to be something at the crib. I'm broke.
Damaris
Are y'all both poor?
Julian
Clearly, she's got.
Rory
If I'm poor, I don't give a. Who ain't poor. I'm poor.
Damaris
No, I get what you're saying, but what I'm saying is, are y'all both poor? Because if y'all are both poor, then y'all need to, like, you know, y'all can, like, work together to climb out of poverty, but if she's up and you're poor, leave that girl alone. Yeah. Cause if you. You can't afford to do for her the things that she could do for herself. Just leave her alone.
Rory
Cause she in that group chat she done took. Cause she done snapped a picture while that was head down in that sushi. Sent that to the group chat. Like, that's just broke ass.
Damaris
It is foul, but it's reality.
Mal
All right? No, but that's double foul. Because if she says, let's go on a date, and he says, I don't have money, so let's not do that, and then she offers to pay to then take a photo and clown him. And like, that is. That's cool.
Damaris
I don't think she.
Rory
I don't think if he off.
Mal
If he was what?
Rory
The marriage. Don't do that. No, because you know that nigga's in the group chat.
Damaris
You setting yourself up. No, you setting yourself up to get clowned. Because the first thing my group chat is going to say, well, why the Would you offer to pay for that anyway?
Mal
Like, yeah, with your dumbass. You forgot that he said he didn't have any money.
Damaris
Yeah, like, that he was honest and.
Mal
Told you he was broke. Like, now you're a clown for bringing someone out that was honest with you and then clowning them for their Honesty.
Damaris
Yeah, that's lame. That's bull.
Rory
That's.
Mal
That's lame to me.
Julian
You're bullying.
Damaris
Yeah, that's bullying. That's corny.
Mal
As it's not even bushes.
Rory
It happens. What are you talking about? She happens every 37 seconds in America.
Mal
Is that accurate?
Damaris
I feel like those are accurate numbers. More accurate than Rory's YouTube prediction, for sure.
Rory
We looked at the video. Wasn't even close to shaking YouTube.
Mal
There's more red onions on her sandwich.
Rory

Julian
No, I mean, I'm just. I'm sorry. I don't know. You're doing the outro, but, like. So now what? Now my question is for this guy for Baltimore. Well, I'm curious because. Say he really likes this girl, but he can't afford to do dates and stuff with her. What can he do to still hang out with her? Like, is this just, like, it's over?
Mal
Don't talk to that girl at all. She's offered to take you out. And then when you got there, say, why aren't you paying?
Julian
But she did pay.
Mal
Yeah, but that's not a red flag to y'all.
Damaris
That's a red flag.
Rory
23.
Julian
23, right, 23.
Rory
Listen, man, focus. Focus on getting your. Yourself together first.
Julian
He's still gonna want to get ass, so how can you.
Damaris
That's fine.
Rory
Yeah, but you gotta. You gotta get. You gotta get your own ass up out of your situation before you go focus on getting some other ass. I'm just trying to help.
Mal
But he's. He was honest from Rip.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
No, I'm not going with you. Cause I'm broke.
Rory
Right? So just.
Julian
I like the honesty.
Rory
That time you on that date, you could be working overtime.
Mal
Wasn't he in some other, like, predicament with, like, a girl that had a boyfriend or he. You just need to sit down for a while.
Damaris
Yeah, sit your little ass down.
Rory
It's work. What you got to do to get up out of here.
Mal
But if you broke and someone offers you some sushi.
Rory
Nah, man.
Mal
Yeah, I'll go.
Rory
It's a long leash on that sushi. Dinner girl took you out to dinner. You broke and she paid for it. She ain't she can't wait.
Damaris
I was just. I was literally just about to throw that shit. Especially a young girl that.
Rory
Especially when you come up when you couldn't afford sushi.
Mal
Nah, man, do it. Do it for the gender. Save her as food girl.
Julian
Get a quick meal ticket.
Rory
That don't work.
Damaris
He like her. You can't do that cause you like her.
Rory
That only work. We can only get that off as men when we got money too. Like, we can only get that off. Like, yeah, sure. We take me out to eating when we got money, though. Like, you can't be a broke and be like, yo, she would take me out the E. It's like, you just a bum ass nigga.
Mal
That ain't fly if I'm broke.
Rory
It's fly when you got money in the grill sandwich.
Mal
I'm taking that turkey.
Julian
I'm taking that sushi.
Damaris
Yeah, but it's not. It's never. But you're never gonna take that girl serious because you don't want.
Mal
No, she'll never take me serious.
Damaris
No, but even if she did, you would never take her serious. No man wants the girl that saw him when he was broke. Y'all, don't. You do not want the girl that really saw you when you were broke like that.
Rory
I love all my. That was around when I was a boy.
Julian
That's the best one.
Rory
Love that shit. Yeah, it was. That was the best times. Those are the. The best relationships. When you're on the couch and a girl's holding you down, it's like, you're not shorty with me.
Damaris
Okay.
Rory
Yeah, she with me.
Mal
Okay.
Damaris
Maybe I'm wrong.
Rory
Yeah. No.
Julian
Oh. He did add at the end of the call, the second call for Damaris. He said. He said he knows you're interested in men in the DMV area and ultimately want to settle in that area. He said Faltamore is not too far away. And then he said he does have a bunch of young guys that would like to holler. He. He is self aware. He did not say, hey, I'm trying to holler. He said, I have friends that I think would make sense for you.
Damaris
He's 23.
Julian
Yes. What if his friends are old?
Mal
Maybe he's like, yeah, the youngest.
Damaris
How much older?
Julian
I don't know.
Rory
They like 3 or 4 years old. 27, 28.
Julian
How young would you date?
Mal
Take him to sushi.
Damaris
I dated. I went on a date with a 27 year old.
Rory
See, there you go.
Julian
Didn't that suck?
Damaris
I was 29 at the time.
Mal
No.
Damaris
It was a pretty good date, actually. I was 29 at the time. Yeah, but I'm saying I went. I was 29 at the time when I went on a date with a 27 year old.
Rory
Okay, so if you 30 now, you can go on a date with a 27 year old. We not doing that. See? Come on.
Mal
I don't think that age gap is too crazy.
Damaris
No, it's not crazy. I didn't say that. I don't think it's crazy at all. That's normal.
Rory
Yeah. So you would go.
Mal
You're not Dre.
Julian
So you're gonna talk to his friend.
Damaris
I just like older men. It's just. I've always been like that. I just like older men. I have nothing.
Mal
What's weird with that strategy is the older you get, then the older the men.
Damaris
I know. That's the thing.
Mal
Like, does that. That. So does that carry over? Like, if you're a young girl that likes older men, that likes men that are like, 35, 40, right? Who, baby, does it stay at 35, 40, or does it carry on with your age?
Damaris
So that's the thing with me.
Mal
I've never understood that with women that, like, older.
Damaris
What I'm realizing is that I didn't like older men. I just like men in their 30s. That's what it was. That makes sense, because now that I'm getting older. Now that I'm getting older, straight men in their 30s. I was having a conversation with the. The. That was in his 30s when I was in my twent. Funny.
Rory
Cross it off.
Mal
That was really funny.
Damaris
You ate.
Rory
You ate that.
Julian
That was a good callback.
Damaris
It was funny.
Rory
Yeah.
Julian
I got a black belt in what?
Mal
Aioli from the Gap.
Julian
Damn.
Mal
You were saying. Because I am curious.
Damaris
Oh, no, I was just saying that, like, I realized, like, as I'm getting older, like, you know, just going off the men I dated when I was in my earlier 20s, them is 8 inching closer and closer to 40. And I'm like, y'all talking about getting in serious relationships. I had a conversation with one of them, and I was like, baby, like, you need to hurry up and, like, settle down a little bit. Like, your eyes turning yellow. You gonna need ed pills.
Rory
Whose eyes is turning yellow?
Julian
Like Michael Jordan.
Rory
Like, you. That's the Hennessy.
Damaris
Like, true. Y'all gonna have to. You gotta slow down a little bit.
Rory
Yellow eyes.
Damaris
Who got yellow eyes and niggas is like, not when I'm ready to settle down. Like, it's gonna be, you know, like, when I Am ready to get in a relationship. It's gonna be me and you. No, it's not gonna be me and you. You want to wait until you old as to like settle down and you think it's gonna be with me? No, I'm go. That's when I'm gonna get a 27 year old. Their dick's gonna work for about 20 years longer than this 40 year old.
Rory
You off that good cigar Henny right there. Man.
Julian
That's tough.
Rory
That's that good cigar.
Julian
That's the greatest.
Mal
Of course it's hereditary. Like.
Rory
Like he could go get 30, right?
Damaris
Y ain't learn from. Y'all ain't learn from Chadwick.
Rory
Y'all talking about people go get 30. That face right there. He could go give you 30 right now.
Mal
I see what you're saying, Damaris. But he's looked this way for about 40 years. So if he has something he's.
Rory
He's beat it.
Damaris
All right, That's a fact.
Rory
That's a fact. That's Michael.
Damaris
It's. They just need to do a liver. Liver and kidney cleanse. Drink your dandelion tea like y'all gotta.
Julian
I think Michael Jordan's gonna go out there and drink some dandelion.
Rory
Mike going out to the champion.
Julian
He's betting 10 grand a hole.
Rory
In.
Mal
A medium rare steak.
Rory
Yeah, that's cavacier cigars. And 20 holes of golf with no sleep.
Mal
20 holes of golf is hilarious. He's the extra two.
Rory
He's just out there. Mike just. Mike, like. All right, we're going back the other way. Like what?
Mal
20 holes?
Rory
Mike, I'm down 200 grand out here. Mike like it. We going back like.
Mal
Mike, this is supposed to be leisure.
Rory
Stop having a friend like Michael Jordan. Got to be stressful, bro. Yeah. Because the he can do and he's into and he wants you to just hang with him all week. You can't keep up with that type of man.
Mal
Did you see the SNL sketch they did about the quarters on the wall with the security guard after the Jordan documentary?
Julian
Yes. Dance. It's a really.
Mal
Sometimes SNL like does get it right that I. That is hilarious. And I mean we can't obviously show it.
Rory
Yeah.
Mal
But we can close and just watch it amongst our ourselves after this. But we'll be in Atlanta very, very soon.
Rory
November 22nd.
Mal
Basically a month. I'm excited.
Rory
Got some friends down there, friend of ours, friend of the show. One of my favorite writers and artists. He. He texted me, said he will be in the building. He's gonna pull up on.
Mal
Yeah, he texted me that today as well.
Rory
Okay, cool.
Mal
Yeah.
Rory
So have some friends down in Atlanta. Have a good time. Love Atlanta.
Damaris
Y'all can bring hookah on stage.
Rory
Me, I don't smoke hookah.
Mal
I. I think every stage comes with hookah in Atlanta.
Damaris
I think it's probably in your package, right? Green.
Rory
Yeah, they put it in your. When you get your luggage off the carousel. It's hookah.
Mal
We have non smoking areas. They have smoking only areas.
Rory
Yeah. And if you don't smoke, you can't perform here. Areas. Get your tickets now. All right, we out of here, man. Have a safe weekend. Be safe, be blessed. We'll talk to y'all soon. I'm that. He's just Ginger. You. Adios.
Mal
No warrior now.

The hosts quickly segue into playful exchanges about diving deep into culture, setting a lighthearted tone for the episode.
A significant portion of the discussion revolves around the complexities of ordering sandwiches at a deli, highlighting Mal's intricate order and Rory's struggle to understand it:
Mal [01:22]: "She then sends me a five-paragraph essay as if she had just caught me cheating and just went through my DMs."
The conversation showcases the humorous frustration Rory faces with detailed orders, culminating in debates about dressing choices: Damaris [04:14]: "If they don't have Thousand Island, Russian in parentheses, then just do ranch."
This segment underscores the hosts' knack for turning everyday scenarios into entertaining dialogues.
