Nah, ain't doing that no more. Niggas gotta walk. Hey, so you can't say this your girl. You don't know who she be with. This is my girl. You sure? She was just here with somebody else last week. Sure. This your lady.
Damaris
All right, fam, you never want to do that. And their response is word.
Mall
Yeah. Like, since when? How long? Whenever they ask how long, that means they trying to do the math. They trying to like. Because last month she was just all right, peace and blessings.
Damaris
I'm happy if you're happy.
Mall
Yeah, as long as you happy, I'm happy. That's my.

Mall
Exactly. Oh, they ain't paying for that.
Rory
That's crazy. I went in my DM request on Twitter for the first time in a very long time lit, Right? Because. Yeah, because I had asked. I need somebody to make me a YouTube intro. So I was like, you know, people were reaching out to me, so I went in there, mad dick. Like, why is you sending mad hammer to my Twitter? That's weird.
Damaris
Has that ever worked?
Rory
Huh?
Mall
Like, pics, videos?
Damaris
I just, like, has that worked?
Mall
What do you mean?
Damaris
Has any man successfully sent a complete unsolicited dick pic to a stranger with no high, no nothing, just their dick?
Rory
Well, he's high.
Damaris
And a girl was like, hey, yeah. No way.
Mall
Yeah, it's worked before.
Rory
I don't know that shit. That. I mean, I ain't gonna hold you one of them shits. I was like. I was about to say, I see you. You know, like, I see you. Okay.
Mall
That means she'll sit on it.
Rory
That's not. That's.
Mall
Whenever they say, I see you. Hey, Roy. Whenever they say I see. Because that's like, when you walk up on the block world, you got a fresh fit on and hope, like, all right, I see you. That means you killed that fit right there. That fit is fire. That's all Damaris was saying. I see you. I know.
Damaris
What a compliment, though. I mean, that would make my day.
Mall
The marriage is so stupid. I see.
Damaris
And to see the video, you had to, like, hit accept, right? Yeah. Well, so he saw that? You saw it.
Rory
Well, I didn't know what it was. Yeah, he probably saw that. I saw it. Cause this is why I have my reverend receipt time.
Mall
Oh, yeah.
Rory
So I hit accept. Cause he was like, hey, I just wanted to tell, like, he was being nice about something.
Damaris
Okay? So I looked at him.
Rory
Oh, shit.
Mall
Dick.
Rory
Damn.
Mall
Well, what was he saying before that, though? Like, what was the. What was the nice. The nice message?
Rory
He said, like, some nice message. I don't remember, but it was nice. So I thought he was replying to. Cause also, when people reply to your photos that you posted, it'll show up as, like, hidden as well. Like, the photo will show up hidden. So, like, they can send you your own picture that you posted back and it'll show up as hidden. So I just clicked on it like I always do. I was like, oh, wow. Sheesh.
Mall
Okay.
Damaris
Sheesh.
Rory
I see. But I see you. I feel like it's a shutdown, though. Like, I remember a dude sent me a picture of, like, him in the gym or whatever. I had a. I had got. Went and got a boyfriend. This was somebody I used to date. And I had went and got a boyfriend. And I didn't want to be rude, so he sent me a. A picture of him. I went and got a boyfriend, and I was like. I was like, okay, body. That nigga never responded to me. He sent me. He. Cause he do got a fire body. But I was in a relationship, so I just was like, okay, body. I see you.
Damaris
That's cheating, though, to me.
Mall
Wait, he sent you a picture of him in the gym?
Rory
Like, yeah, him in the gym. I just was like, okay, body.
Mall
And then he never responded after that?
Rory
No.
Mall
Did he take that as, like, an
Rory
insult or like, I would take that as an insult if you send a girl that you were dating, like, you know what I'm saying, on and off, a picture of you in the gym. And like, she be like, okay, body. I see you. Like, that's not. There was no heart. Eyes.
Mall
Oh, this was somebody you used to date?
Rory
Yes.
Mall
Oh, okay. Okay. I thought this was, like, just some random, like.
Rory
No, this was.
Mall
Oh, okay.
Damaris
Okay.
Mall
Yeah. Then that usually means she not open
Damaris
for, like, lost her.
Mall
She can't pull up right now, but she's seeing somebody.
Damaris
Yeah. Let's see. You look healthy.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
All right.
Rory
Glad to see. Yeah.
Damaris
Lost this one.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Just gotta accept the fate. Well, anyways, Mo, how was your weekend? Mother's Day weekend?
Mall
Mother's Day weekend. Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there.
Rory
Thank you.
Damaris
Yes, thank. Thank you to all the mothers. You guys create life and all marriage
Mall
said, thank you wait, wait. All Damaris. What's up?
Damaris
These is her son.
Mall
What's up, bro? What you going through? You all right? These is her sons.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. Hopefully all the mothers felt a little extra love this weekend. And, you know, prayers to everybody whose mother is no longer here.
Damaris
Absolutely.
Mall
It's an important day to kind of check in on your friends and. And people that no longer have their moms. It's a very, you know, emotional day for them. So prayers to those, to those who have lost their. Their beautiful mothers.
Damaris
Yes. Well, I, I had a nice Mother's Day ke and I did the lunch thing with Amara and playground and, you know, it was, it was a nice, nice, nice Mother's Day, nice family day then.
Mall
Because you indeed made Kia mother. So you should celebrate as well.
Damaris
Right? I mean, they have a thing called Father's Day. I just wait for that.
Mall
That's what she, she celebrates with you too. You know what I mean? Yeah.
Damaris
But yes, Happy Mother's Day to Kia. Thank you, Kia. It was a really nice day. Once her and Amara went to sleep, I had to Turnpike, though, was out in these streets. I was in Philadelphia celebrating the Knicks win. I went to the Jay Electronica show, which was a great time. In a Knicks T shirt.
Mall
It's a great way to celebrate in
Damaris
a Knicks T shirt with Jay. Electronic Philly. No, it was a good time. Ended up just staying down there because I wasn't driving back. But yeah, it was, it was a good show. I suggest anyone if he's coming to your city to go to the show. And that's my plug.
Mall
Shout out to Jay Electron Hanahan. Hanahan Hanukkah.
Damaris
I forgot how much I like Philly, though.
Mall
Philly's a great city.
Damaris
It's crazy that it is only like an hour away and we don't go, like, often. I have more fun in Philly these days than I probably do in New York.
Mall
If I could find like, like, you know, I'm saying three things to do in Philly while I'm there, then I would spend more time in Philly. I have to have that, like, mapped out before. I don't really know.
Damaris
I've been sweeping their national basketball team. Is. Is always fun too, though.
Mall
Oh, that was fun.
Damaris
That's a good actor.
Mall
You know, the Knicks, Knicks had a great, A great weekend. But yeah, I need to find certain things to do in Philly so I can spend like a day in Philly. I don't really know a lot of People in Philly, so I can, like, call somebody and be like, yo, what's up, man? I'm gonna come down for the day.
Damaris
You're vegan. It's a great food city, but not for vegans.
Mall
It's a great vegan city, too. It's a lot of Muslims. Big Muslim community. Yeah, yeah.
Damaris
So it's not a lot of pork options, but there's still plenty of.
Mall
That's a big vegan community. Okay. Vegan, big. See, you don't know. You don't know.
Rory
He now tapped into the beginning.
Mall
He want that swine.
Damaris
How many Muslims I was with yesterday.
Mall
He still got swine on his mind, you know what I'm saying? So I gotta help him out a little bit. I gotta show you some good vegan
Damaris
vinyl in the brain.
Mall
Yeah, I got to show you some good vegan in Philly, though.
Damaris
But there was a lot that did happen this this weekend. There was verses. There was the Kevin Hart thing. There was basketball. Where do we want to start? I admittedly, did not watch versus.
Mall
You didn't watch it? Come on, man. You got to watch the verses with.
Rory
I ain't watch that either.
Mall
I know.
Damaris
Lying, like right now.
Mall
I watched it. I had it. Had it on, and I was watching the game at the same time. Yeah, I watched it.
Rory
How was it?
Mall
I don't think that. I don't think audiences are needed in verses, because I feel like the audiences that they put in these rooms now, they just find young people to just fill up the room. A lot of these kids in the room were nine when some of these songs came out, or 10 years old. You know what I'm saying? It's like, they don't really. It's just like. I would rather it be just the artists in the room. Kind of like how they have the color series on YouTube.
Damaris
Okay.
Mall
And just, like, make the production look dope and have them perform the songs. The audience makes it a little. A little. Just a little weird. Yeah, makes it a little weird. But I mean, you know, they performed some records, and, you know, some of them aged well, some of them didn't. But overall, it was a. You know, it was a. It was a cool event, I guess. I just. I don't know. I think the Versus thing for me is kind of run its course a little bit.
Damaris
So this was. If I'm not mistaken, this was the first time they ever did the voting system where someone could actually win verses. Before, it was just the court of public opinion, but they had a system where you could vote for each record and for those that did vote, French Montana won 10 to nine. But then I also see that Rick Ross performed I'm a star twice. Whose idea was that?
Mall
He performed Devil. Is it blue dress or new dress? New dress.
Rory
Right?
Mall
He performed that.
Damaris
It's also funny that I'm not a star. Lost both times too. I could see if you're, you know, you get a quick win. When I'm not a star, maybe. Let's bring it back.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
He might have felt like he. He might have felt like he didn't hear that one. Yeah. Like, let me bring that back. N. You lost again. Like, it's a great song too, but yeah, great record. Holy.
Damaris
Yeah, He. He did it against shot caller in the first round. I was like, you know what? Let's let me get a do over.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
And still lost again.
Rory
I forgot French Montana had freaks. That was my. That was my. What is work? Remix
Mall
work.
Damaris
Oh, yeah. You know that record. We can't play it, but you definitely work.
Mall
Sing it. It's funny, I don't know that record. Sing it.
Rory
I probably know it, but I don't be doing the name and I'm like, maul with that.
Mall
I'm terrible with titles and songs. Some of my favorite songs. I don't know the name. I just found out what the name of some record was that I was like, that's the name of it. Stand up.
Rory
Oh, okay.
Damaris
You know, down to the.
Rory
Stop.
Mall
Come on.
Rory
In my tummy.
Mall
Exactly.
Rory
Sorry.
Damaris
Do we think they're going to continue doing this? Like, was. Was there a lot of viewers?
Mall
Oh, I don't know how many viewers there was. I wasn't really paying attention. And then you could watch it on your phone. You can watch it on X now. There's different, like, platforms that you could actually view it on. So who knows how many people across all platforms viewed it. I don't really care about that. I was looking at them.
Rory
I feel like middle of America loves these.
Damaris
Maybe I'm only looking from my perspective. I'm just kind of tired of the versus thing. It was amazing. It was a legendary thing. I just. I'm not stopping what I'm. Even if I'm doing nothing, I don't know if I'm bringing verses up.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
It's just. I don't know. I don't think it has the allure anymore. But they did do like a little press run. I saw they sat with Ebro. I did watch that. So it's good to see Ross and French friends together doing press Runs and shit. But can we finally admit that Rick Ross is weird?
Mall
Why? Why do you say that?
Damaris
And I know this is you saying,
Mall
finally admit, like, we've been like, holding that in, like, what you mean, finally admit, like.
Damaris
Well, we did talk about this in the beginning after the, like, that thing. And then 20v1 started. And I know we are the Drake Bias podcast, but I'm speaking from a very objective place. We didn't put enough light into how weird it was that Rick Ross entered into that rapping. What did you have to like, why are you in this whole thing? And then you came up with an excuse that it was because Drake didn't clear his verse for French Montana's album, which made all the sense in the world, because everyone was waiting for Drake to say something in the biggest moment. And it wasn't about to be a verse he did 10 months ago. And then French Montana is sitting next to him going, like, I was fine with it. So what the fuck are you doing, Rick Ross? You're finding any way to just get in this shit and now you're telling, yo, I want to see you win, homie. Shut up. Shut up. He's one of my favorite rappers. He's hilarious. His discography is incredible. But that's some weirdo. Like, that's super weird. Yeah, but is that not weird?
Mall
We knew what that. We knew what that was in the moment, though. We said that. We said it was weird for him to do that. We said he was trying to capitalize at the moment. He shot a video for the song with a bunch of ballet around him. Like people were trying to capitalize in the moment. Like, we knew what that was. We knew what that moment.
Damaris
It was a moment. Even if it's petty reasons. I understand the metro thing and there's women of all weekend, there's exes involved, and maybe Drake fucks someone's baby mother or there's some slimy shit going on with women. Because that's usually how things get to this point. Rick Ross said, oh, he didn't clear a verse for French. So him I'm in this now after he gave me all my number one records. Yeah, I mean, that's like that. Everyone else, I understood why, even if it wasn't a great reason. I understood why the 20v one existed and everything in the history with Drake and certain artists. Rick Ross, who's his man's just entered into that beef because he wanted to, I guess. I guess I'm saying it was called out, but it wasn't. Highlighted enough in that whole thing of why is Rick Ross doing this? So when he gets and is talking to Ebro, what was his quote? We want to see you win, homie. Like, shut up. Shut up.
Mall
Well, he can't say he want to see Drake win. No, no. Nobody can't backpedal because there's a lot of that going on right now. Niggas can't slide.
Damaris
I don't want to see you lose.
Mall
Well, I think it was deeper than that. I think because he was on that. He was on that record with French, I believe.
Damaris
No, the leak exists. You could YouTube that. Now it's just Drake and French.
Mall
Oh, so Ross wasn't on it? Because I originally thought Ross was on
Damaris
that record, even if he was. Okay.
Mall
Yeah, but if he was, it would.
Damaris
French don't even care.
Mall
I know French doesn't care, but I'm just saying, if he was, we know what that's about. It helps the artist's dreams at the end of the year. Looks good. We knew what that whole play was about. And this is what I said when I said, people need Drake. They need him. They don't stream well without him. Rappers don't stream well without hit records. And who's giving people more hits than anybody else in rap? Drake. So now when I'm not giving you the verse that I used to give you because I'm doing other things, they
Damaris
have, like seven classic records together. And I'm sure Drake would have wanted to continue to work with Rick Ross at some point.
Mall
Yes, but if Ross needs it right
Damaris
now on Drake's Montana album.
Mall
Yeah, but if Ross needs a verse right now, and he this year, his numbers this year, he needs those streams, then you can see why a rapper would feel some type of way. If you're giving 21 all these verses in an album, you giving sexy red, you're giving this person that per. And then I can't get one. You can see how some people will then show their true colors and be
Damaris
like, well, you explain it the weirder it is.
Mall
I understand. I understand. But the weirder part to me is during the verses, when he's doing Drake's records or the records that they have he has with Drake, he. He doesn't want to let Drake's part play, but Drake had to clear those songs to be performed at the verses, which is. I don't know if people know that or not. Like, Drake had to clear those songs so that they are able to be performed, which, by the way. So if he's clearing it Meaning he's like, all right, cool, whatever. Like, even after you dissed him and did all of that, Drake ain't act salty and be like, nah, fuck that. Like, you can't.
Damaris
Oh, please don't do that.
Mall
What?
Damaris
He cleared the song because I would have too. And Drake is petty and has every right to be petty. He didn't clear that out of good, good faith and good love for hip hop. He did that. He cleared those to show all the other rappers. You can't do A versus without the songs that I gave you.
Mall
Obviously. Obviously. But then why not?
Damaris
That was a petty reason, not a good hearted.
Mall
No, for sure. But then why not just let my, my hook play there?
Damaris
Well, no, that's also at that point. That's really why I'm highlighting. This is outside of just what he said with Ebro, I thought that was corny as fuck that Ross did that based off their history and how weird it was for him to enter that. Like, I could see it. People do that if there's some real bad history there. There isn't bad history. You're just weird. Like, I don't want to hear that. Like, the fuck did he do to you?
Mall
Yeah, but that's. But a lot of that was weird in that moment. Well, we know that now. Looking back two years. Like, we know a lot of the things that happened was weird. A lot of the things that was said was weird. A lot of things felt like it came out of nowhere. What was that for? What issue does this person have with him? Like, it was a lot of that going on, but it was also a moment for people to try to capitalize and try to, you know, gain whatever they could out of the moment. Like, and we said that when he jumped in and we was like, yo, bro. Like, I even said it, Ross. I was like, yo, Ross, just fall back. This ain't, this ain't the time for that right now. Like, I remember saying, like, yo, this ain't. This is a. This is a one on one like this saying, we don't really need that right now. We don't care about what that is. Like, we could do that after. It just didn't feel right. It felt like you was trying to get in on it and capitalize in the moment. We said that. So looking back, yeah, it's like, bro, that was just a weird, a weird moment.
Damaris
And rappers are weird. So I mean, it's not like a surprise there. And I didn't want to make it like a Drake. I just thought it was really odd when I saw that clip of him saying, don't do Drake's hook, and it's like, why?
Mall
He cleared the record.
Damaris
You're weird.
Mall
Go ahead, have fun.
Damaris
It's not even a defending Drake thing. It's just an observation of how odd that. Very weird. But it is Iceman week, so sorry, guys. We're gonna be. We're gonna be talking about Drake like that. He's one of the biggest artists ever. We're gonna be talking about his album.
Mall
So I'm not talking about Drake until the album comes out.
Damaris
Well, Charlemagne did this morning. He had. He had Iceman updates. I don't know if you saw that or how accurate they are.
Mall
I didn't. I'm not trying. I didn't. I didn't see.
Rory
No. I laughed at the deep breath, the inhale you took.
Mall
He was like, I didn't. I didn't hear Charlamagne's Iceman update.
Damaris
He said, Future and Carol G will be on Iceman. He said that Drake got upset that he leaked that Future was going to be on the album and kicked everyone out the studio. Now nobody's allowed in the studio because Charlamagne had leaked that also. He said DJ Khaled.
Mall
Wait, wait, wait, back up. Drake got mad that Charlemagne leaked that
Damaris
said the Future was on the album
Mall
and then Charlemagne was in the studio.
Damaris
No, after he leaked that, Drake kicked everyone out of the studio because maybe there was a leak in there that told Charlemagne what was going on. And here's my thing.
Rory
There's a mole.
Damaris
I can see that for, like, some real specific information. It's not really a huge bombshell that someone says futures on a Drake elb. I think everyone can stay in the studio. Like, that wasn't some exclusive.
Rory
Well, other people have alluded to no one being on the Drake album. So in a regular. On any other album, I would say that isn't a bomb show. But on this one, it's like, oh, so there are features either. Because there was a big rumor that there will be no features on this album.
Damaris
I can't see that. But, I mean, he also said DJ Khaled and ASAP Rocky are going to get direct shots. I mean, he's, again, not shocking to me that he's going to disasap Rocky. Everyone can stay in the studio. Why Khalid, though, since we're being on the weirdo side of things, where I thought Rick Ross was odd? Why does Drake have a disdain for DJ Khaled? I. I, to this day have no idea. I mean, it was kind of nuts. That Khaled said, I have two Drake songs before clearing them with Drake. Especially at that time. Like there's a lot going on right now. I'm not going to clear those records. But is there some history that I'm not aware of of why Drake would hate DJ Khaled? Like was, was Khaled, is he working out to not like us or something?
Mall
Like, I don't know if it's that type of energy to where it's like
Rory
asking if DJ Khaled was working.
Damaris
He does it on Tick Tock.
Mall
I don't know if it's like maybe, maybe he just mentioned the whole Khaled thing. Like it's not. That doesn't have to be a diss. It could just be him mentioning, you know, Khaled's stance through the whole thing
Damaris
or, you know, but I mean, here's the thing. I like Israel and Palestine. Khaled's usually pretty quiet about things and because he's friends with so many people, he does kind of just play the fence and stays quiet when there is back and forth.
Mall
That's fine.
Damaris
No, I'm not saying there's. Well, the Palestine part, yes, but there's nothing wrong with that. But that's why I, I'd be confused why Drake would maybe have an issue with him because I don't remember Khaled ever saying anything or picking a side or.
Mall
No, it's not.
Damaris
He's pretty neutral all the time. That's kind of why he's had the career that he's had in a good way because he is cool with everybody.
Mall
I don't think it's picking aside, I think it's him. The timing of him announcing that he has two Drake records, it was a little nuts. Yeah. When he probably didn't reach out to Drake through the whole thing and you know, again, the whole trying to capitalize off of Drake and use Drake. I think, you know, Drake obviously in that moment he kind of felt like, you know, and Drake has known this, he's known a lot of these guys don't like him, they just need him and he knew that. I just think it got to a point during that whole 2024 where he started recognizing it and then, you know, he just, he turned, he turned the water off, he turned the faucet off.
Damaris
And you don't think Khaled likes Drake though?
Mall
Not saying Khaled likes Drake.
Damaris
I know Khaled to be a real like a good person.
Mall
But I also know, well, Khaled can be very self serving. Too, as well.
Damaris
Sure.
Mall
So maybe that's.
Damaris
Self preservation is very important for a long career.
Mall
Yeah. But that's maybe why in that moment, Drake was like, nah, don't announce you got two Khaled features two Khaled's two Drake songs right now. Like, yeah, now's not the time, sir. Again, trying to capitalize off of a moment. And I just think that that was, you know, that kind of just, you know, kind of turned Drake off a little bit from Khaled. But I don't think it's a diss. Like, I don't think he's dissing Khaled. He might. He may just mention that whole moment and, you know, just Khaled trying to use that moment to capitalize, and he thought that probably was whack, that's all. I don't think it's a. I don't think he's on there tearing Khaled apart. Like, I don't think it's that.
Damaris
Yeah, well, I mean, Rocky replied on his album, so I think it's still fair game to keep going.
Mall
Oh, well, this is different.
Damaris
Like, oh, no, the Rocky is waiting.
Mall
This is. This is a little. This is a little different. This is a little more attached to the Rocky thing. Yeah, Yeah, I don't think that that's gonna stop anytime soon.
Damaris
No, I definitely.
Mall
I see this. This is always gonna be something where, you know, some. Some type of shots are sent for sure.
Damaris
And I. Well, I totally see why Rocky feels away. Again. I'm being objective. Like, I thought Drake's verse, one for all the dogs again. I don't know what happens behind the scenes or who said what, where he would do that. But, like, that. That verse was kind of crazy to me. Like, I get why this Rocky and Drake thing probably will never end. Like, they both have crossed crazy lines for. So.
Mall
Yeah, sometimes, you know, you need that. Sometimes it's okay to not be cool and not with nobody no more, man. I just.
Damaris
I just want good music that's on me.
Mall
Oh, good music is on the way. Trust and believe that.
Damaris
Well, I mean, somebody. Somebody's got to save the game. Now that Lotto retired, a lot of it. Is hip hop gonna do a lot of good music.
Mall
A lot of good music is on the way. A lot of good music.
Damaris
Y' all know I. With Lotto baby.
Mall
Shout out to Lotto, man. She reticed her retirement album. She announced 529, my retirement album. Thank you for everything. Listen, man, you know, she's a mom now. Like, she, like, you Know I love her. Yeah, she don't want him. She ain't trying to rap no more. Like, she, like, had. Had this baby, raised my kid, you know, I got money.
Rory
Y' all are funny.
Mall
Why?
Rory
Because your favorite line is, rappers don't retire.
Mall
Rappers don't retire. Hustlers do.
Damaris
Hope they didn't go over your head.
Rory
So you think Lotto. You think Latto. You consider Latto one of the. One of the hustlers who just got into rap just to make money.
Mall
Lotto's a hustler. Yeah, I don't think she. I don't think she loves the sport of rap. I don't think.
Damaris
I don't know a Lotto's actually one.
Rory
Growing up, that the girl I was on, like, growing up. Not growing up hip hop, but, like, game shows. Trying to be a rapper since she was, like, 8 years old.
Damaris
A good majority of the new female rappers. I agree with you. I. I do think Lotto, like, likes hip hop. I think she would, like, would try to rap if it wasn't a lick for all the girls. Right. She was in middle school trying to rap. Yeah. No, I think you're right. With 99 of a lot of the new female rappers. But Lotto is in that.
Mall
That sport. She love the sport.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
All right. But we'll see. She may. She. She may hold my thing true. She may not. She may not be retiring. When that baby turned about six, seven,
Rory
Six, seven is a long time. Maybe one.
Mall
Six years ain't a long time in hip hop. No, it's not a long time. In this day and age, that's not a long time.
Damaris
Six months is a long time in hip hop.
Rory
Y' all were. How long was Cardi gone for? And every year it was like, okay, when's the album coming? When's the album coming? When's the album coming? And she was still putting out. And even still, that was an extremely long time. In respect to Lotto, she doesn't. She's nowhere near as big as Cardi was. Six years is a long.
Mall
Okay, so there you go.
Rory
Time.
Mall
There you go. It was different for Cardi. It was very different. Cardi had just won Grammy for Best Rap Album.
Rory
I understand what you're saying, but what I'm saying is Cardi had the fame to have the room. Lotto hasn't hit that pinnacle of success yet. Six years is a very long time. Like, I would if she gonna retire one, maybe two. But six. It's hard to get back after six.
Mall
No, you need this one record and it ain't hard in this, this era. It's a lot of trash shit out here. All you gotta do is make one good record and you right back on the top of the algorithm.
Rory
And the top of the algorithm, but not the charts and that, I mean,
Mall
is she at the top of the charts right now?
Rory
No, but that's another thing. That's what I'm saying. Like she's been semi consistent and even still, it's not.
Mall
She's made good records.
Rory
She does make good records.
Mall
She put out a lot of good, you know, but I mean, she probably, you know, listen, man, life kind of, you know, she's. And then again, this, we just talking, this may just be an announcement. And then two years from now, she gonna drop a picture on Twitter or Instagram and she right back, like, this is, you know, so I'm not putting too much stock into this, but I'm just saying, her announcing this, maybe it's because again, you know, she's having a family now and, you know, she. That's where her focus and her energy is. And music is the last thing that's, you know, on her first time mother. Right. Yeah, the first one. Yeah. So, you know, things just, you know, it's a little different right now for her. She not really music and recording and, you know. Cause people don't understand, you know, the hours that it takes being in the studio and making music and recording an album and then, you know, doing press and that's a lot, man. And I think as a first time mother, she not thinking about none of that right now. That that requires the energy and attention that that requires. Like, she's focused on, on raising her family. So, yeah, I understand the announcement now, but in a couple years she may get that itch again and the sound might change a little bit. It might be a new, new female MC that comes along that just might inspire her like, oh, shorty's dope. Like, you know how that go. And she'll be right back.
Damaris
What happens when I no longer exist?
Mall
Exactly.
Damaris
We have to see this.
Mall
We'll have to.
Damaris
I hate it when she said that.
Rory
Nah, he ate that.
Damaris
I know. It's a classic record. Disapp is when I no longer exist. It's the, it's just the this that I'm talking about.
Mall
Everything else we felt, we felt all that before, but the this was like, all right, man. Like, are you really that pissed off Jay more than us?
Rory
He was fed up.
Mall
Like, he ain't fed up, man.
Damaris
Where do you guys think this Will rank, like, amongst retirement albums. Do you think it'll be up, up there? Do you think she'll have her fade to black moment?
Rory
I hate when you do this. I hate when you.
Damaris
I hate. I hate when rappers say they retiring.
Rory
No, it's so disrespectful because only certain artists that you do it to express, you can like. You can like women and still be misogynistic. You only do that. He only does that to female rappers or to the younger rappers.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
To people you don't respect.
Mall
He don't do that to nobody. He going to see in traffic.
Rory
Where you think it's going to rank like, what do you think?
Damaris
Studio with Lot.
Rory
He did the same thing with Karisha. He did the same. So are you guys ready to hear what Karisha has to say? It's disrespectful because people know that you don't really care.
Mall
And then if Karisha send a verse for his album, he taking it. Yeah, he funny.
Rory
Like, you don't got to do that.
Damaris
I think she's great.
Mall
I'm trying to start.
Damaris
I would love to reunite the city girls on my project.
Rory
Like you throwing shade. And it's cool, but I'm gonna call you out on it.
Damaris
On a male rapper.
Rory
No, I'm not saying. You've never hated on a male rapper.
Damaris
That's really misogyny, right?
Rory
No, he not. I'm not with him. Dead ass.
Mall
Okay?
Rory
What I'm saying is smoking machine at don't respect. You only do that to people you don't respect. You're being funny. Where do you think this is going to rank on retirement albums? You're being funny.
Mall
Well, it's a retirement album, so maybe he really want to know where it's breaking. Amongst the rappers that have said, this is my last album, maybe he wants to know where we gonna put big mama at?
Damaris
Because when she un retires, I'm gonna say, yo, is this her kingdom come?
Mall
You're not gonna say that.
Rory
You see what I'm saying? It's rage bait. It's rage bait.
Mall
He's not gonna say that. And if you do say that, just make sure I'm not sitting here if you do say that, because I don't want to hear that.
Damaris
No, but what if she recreate, Remember the kingdom come cover like it was? Yeah, it had, like, that glossy. She could turn it and Jay would be like a different year. Like, Lotto could do that with her in 21. No, see, I don't like this because last episode or the episode before that, I said, I would love to hear the 1988 version of Lotto in 21 Savage together. And I wasn't joking around.
Mall
He did say that I.
Damaris
With Lotto. She's one of the fewer new female rappers that I really like. Enjoy.
Mall
She could really rap.
Rory
Name your favorite lotto song.
Damaris
Shot on me. That ain't is.
Rory
It is. But you don't know why he's being funny. What else?
Damaris
Wait, why can't. Why. Why can't that be my favorite one?
Rory
All right, my. I'm not doing this with you. What do you mean?
Mall
Why is that his favorite song?
Rory
I'm not doing this with you.
Damaris
What you mix.
Rory
I'm not doing this with you.
Damaris
That's crazy.
Rory
I'm not doing it.
Damaris
Why can't that be my favorite?
Rory
Because you corny, and you know I can't say why it's your favorite. You're mad corny, bro. I'm tired of him. Yo, I'm calling out all 20. 20.
Mall
You're calling the cap out?
Rory
Yeah, I'm calling all cap out.
Mall
All right, all right.
Damaris
So I. I can't bring up retirement. She announced her retirement. I didn't ask her.
Rory
She did announce her retirement. And lot of. We love you, and we appreciate everything that you've. You've given to the game. And I'm not mad at you for taking a break. I also believe that rappers don't retire, so I'm not mad at you for taking a break.
Mall
Oh, actually, now you on my. Yeah, go.
Damaris
Go be a. Go be a mom.
Rory
Enjoy your family.
Damaris
I'm not laughing if anyone said that. If Nas said I'm retired. No, I don't believe you. I just don't.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
It's just rappers.
Damaris
And now that's why I'm teasing.
Mall
Like, she got to get the same jokes that all other. We give all the other rappers. You can't announce your retirement.
Damaris
I rolled my eyes at that tweet. Yeah. Which I would do with any rapper that says that shit like, rappers don't retire.
Mall
You don't. Rappers don't retire.
Rory
Yeah, you. You.
Mall
You. You just realize that they ain't fucking with you no more and they ain't streaming your shit. And then you like, all right, I ain't gonna really.
Damaris
That's enough.
Mall
I'm not gonna keep doing this. But that lotto ain't got that problem at all. She streams well.
Damaris
Fans retire. Rappers. Rappers don't retire.
Mall
So maybe she rap like, this is my last one. Knock it off. And this is not your last album.
Rory
I do need the her and 21 album though. I think they will sound good together.
Damaris
Well, I think she also puts pressure on herself with that. Well, maybe not necessary because maybe people just don't really give a fuck. But when a rapper said like the black album had a movie like it, he did the garden show and brought everyone out. Like it's a moment when you reject tire for your fans. And I know Lotto has a lot of dedicated fans, so just saying, this is my last project. All right, what the you about to say on this? Because you got to say something like, what's her? What's her? My first song. What's her outro. What's her hop? Ain't had no seat on his bicycle.
Rory
You may not find out. We'll find out when it dropped. Have y' all been listening to new music?
Damaris
21 had no stance in his past.
Mall
21 a had no visa. That's the, that's how she gonna go out. 21 and no visa.
Damaris
Look at you now, an American citizen. Mall, your family reached out to me over the weekend. They are very concerned. It was just, just notified that you are overpaying for your wireless right now. And your family is very concerned.
Mall
I know.
Damaris
Because you could just unlock savings with $25 a month forever with Boost Mobile. It's a permanent price. It does not change. And your family is sick of this.
Mall
I keep the same number.
Damaris
You can keep the same number, the same phone and someone will come and just, just do it for you. It could come right here. Yes. Here and yes. So stop terrifying your family. I'm tired of getting these calls. They're concerned for you. This is an intervention.
Mall
This is an intervention based on average annual single line payment of AT&T, Verizon and T Mobile customers compared to 12 months on the Boost Mobile Unlimited plan as of January 2026. For full offer details, visit boostmobile.com

Mall
You said were he listening to what?
Rory
Have y' all been listening to? New music that has come out?
Damaris
I did. I gave Chris Brown Brown one listen because it is a lot of music and I was even kind of scared to come in today to have a take because it is so much music. I like the first half. It still selfishly disappoints me that Chris puts out so much music on his albums, and I know his fans love when he. 27 records, 40 records. I know that's great, and Chris should serve his fans, but I. I selfishly just want. I just want the condensed Chris Brown.
Mall
It's not a long album, though.
Damaris
No, there's like, one minute, 30 records of shit on there. I just. It's so much to just digest, and I. He's obviously a legend, and I think he's one of the few legends without a quintessential album, and I was hoping that we get that on this. And again, I really like the first half, and there's stuff on the second half I like, too. It's just so much. And maybe it's because I'm old and 36. That's just not how my brain works with music. Yeah. It just doesn't.
Mall
There's some joints on there, though. It sounds good. I ain't gonna lie, Chris. You almost lost me with the vibes record, though.
Damaris
It was a lot.
Mall
The vibes cartel. I ain't gonna lie, Chris. I don't want to hear you speak patois my. I ain't gonna.
Rory
Oh, that's what was going on.
Mall
Yeah, I don't want to hear that. I want to hear that, because, you know, that's my. But I know. I was like, munch, Munch, Munchy done gave this too much oxtail, and, yo, Munch had this in Jamaica. Listen, I know what it is. If you to. If you go to Jamaica with Munch and she got you moving around, I would be.
Damaris
I speaking, like, yeah, 100%.
Mall
I'm speaking Pat. But it's like, yo, Chris, you supposed to let that weigh off real quick, you know what I'm saying? But I understand it.
Damaris
No, I don't do that, because your man's. Y. Your man's brought that into the game.
Mall
Who?
Damaris
Just randomly speaking Patwa. He ain't speak Patwa for four albums, and all of a sudden, he come in there, talk about, man, it's different.
Mall
It's different. It's different. It's different. That's different.
Damaris
No, I understand the. The history of Toronto.
Mall
Yeah, it's different. Cali ain't got that. Cali don't even got good Jamaican food.
Damaris
Probably no disrespect guy. Probably the worst Jamaican food I've ever had.
Mall
There's One spot that's decent. I forgot the name of it.
Damaris
Somebody has to take me to the hood, like to proper. But yeah, in Cali is just not,
Mall
it's not, it don't really.
Damaris
But we're spoiled.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
We from the East Coast. It's different over here in New York,
Damaris
but I heard it was different from
Rory
like the different, the vibe of it is different from previous albums. Like one of. One of my homegirls is the biggest Chris Brown fan in the world. Like she. Our background on our text message is an AI picture of her and Chris Brown on the beach. Like, she's, she could just pay 15. She hates the album.
Damaris
She hates it.
Rory
She hates the album.
Damaris
So I kind of.
Mall
She hates this album.
Rory
He hates.
Damaris
Why I'm not mad at the new direction, sonically, because I felt like the last two projects where it was like 40 records and 35 records was the same sonics for all 40 records. I, I, I wasn't mad that he's a little bit all over the place on this one.
Rory
I guess she likes that. She was like, I can't, she can't stand this one. And I was like, oh, okay. It's probably a little bit different, but. Yeah, but I, I heard a lot of people like it. I'm not saying it's bad because of that, but she's a huge Chris Brown fan and she doesn't like it, so it's surprised.
Damaris
It's going to be good.
Mall
I don't know.
Damaris
I, I'm a broken record with my Chris Brown takes, so that's, that's why I come today. I was like, you like it? I like it.
Mall
There's some shit on it.
Rory
Do you like it more than 1111, which is his previous?
Mall
It's too soon to say that.
Rory
Too soon?
Mall
Yeah, it's too soon to say that. But the vibe of this album is definitely completely different from 1111 though.
Rory
Okay.
Mall
Like just the energy, the vibe and, you know, the sound that he's going for, it's totally different.
Rory
Is it more traditional R and B than pop leaning?
Mall
It's definitely more R and B than pop.
Damaris
Yeah, for sure.
Rory
Okay.
Damaris
But Chris is always good at blurring the lines with R and B and pop because even 1111 is very pop driven. But it, it's R B to me. Him and Beyonce do that very well. That is a pop record, but this is also an R B record. What's everyone's favorite Chris Brown album?
Rory
The first one.
Damaris
Okay.
Rory
The self titled is will always be my favorite.
Damaris
What about you, Mo?
Mall
You know I know about it.
Rory
Pull up the covers for my baby.
Mall
Yeah, I gotta go. I gotta see the COVID of the album.
Damaris
The track list.
Mall
I like Graffiti. I like Heartbreak on a Full Moon. I like Royalty.
Rory
Fame will probably be my second favorite. It would probably be Chris Brown Fame, then probably exclusive.
Mall
Heartbreak on a Full Moon wasn't bad either, though.
Rory
That was the one that was 45, right?
Damaris
Yeah. Like, I liked a lot of it, but it was so tough to go back to remember what I liked on it.
Rory
And I think he released it.
Mall
Indigo was good, too. Indigo was a good album.
Damaris
X might be my favorite.
Mall
And quietest.
Rory
Quietest is up there.
Damaris
Royalty was the closest we got to a condensed, like Chris album. It has, like, my. My favorite narcissistic record of all. K is the funniest record Chris Brown's ever put out. And it's also gorgeous. But it's. It's very funny to have a baby on someone and blame her for it. Look up the lyrics. It's the wildest song.
Mall
Slom. And B album with him and Thug wasn't bad either, though.
Damaris
No, his. His Piru album with Ray J is good.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
But X. X is probably my favorite Chris Brown album. Fame and graffiti are great.
Mall
1111 was good, though.
Rory
I lie. What was.
Damaris
The mixtape doesn't have a whack project at all. I just don't think he has the quintessential classic. That's like his.
Rory
His first album is his classic to me. I'm sorry. And that's a condensed album. His first album is a classic to me. There are no skits.
Damaris
Yeah. It's just he was.
Mall
So the first one is. Was the Chris Brown album. Yes.
Rory
Not a skip on that.
Damaris
There probably isn't.
Rory
And it ages. Amazing. Like, you can go, that fucking album is amazing.
Damaris
I mean, say Goodbye is a generational R B song.
Rory
Yeah. So is poppin. Like, all of those songs are fucking amazing. Like, Ain't no Way plays at every R B party I go to. Like, that's a classic album.
Damaris
Yeah. No, you're not wrong. I just think why I never say that is because I was 15 when this came out. I feel like. Like adults at that time probably didn't view it as a classic. But I. I hear you. I mean, yo. Is one of the greatest R B songs ever.
Rory
Yeah. That's a perfect album. Man your man ain't me. Dirty Mac and Hall of Fame. He ain't fly, he don't even drive
Damaris
no, the ad libs. The ad libs in the back is repeating. He ain't Me is the most dirty Mac and ever. Don't. Don't whisper that in the ad libs that I could hear just in my right headphone.
Rory
Classic, man. He ate me for sure.
Damaris
But yeah, but no, congrats to Chris Brown. I just. I need more time with that to give a proper, proper review.
Mall
I like it.
Damaris
20, 27 records in one weekend. I would be doing a disservice to one of the great.
Rory
I also think that, like, I get, like, I get that for rap albums. I don't really feel that way about R B albums. Maybe it's because I grew up listening to Janet Jackson albums that were always that long. I don't feel like that's super. I feel like it's long, but it's not that bad.
Mall
It's 27 tracks, but it's. It's a short album though. It's only like an hour and I think 30 minutes or something like that. It's not like a super long album.
Rory
Yeah, like, I don't think that that's that long for rap. That's. That's too long because rap has more words.
Damaris
That's way too many words. Like shut up.
Rory
But for R B, I don't think that that's that bad. Especially because there's probably an interlude or something in there, like some shorts. Yeah. Hour and 32 minutes is not long. Yeah, it's not bad for album.
Mall
I guess I wasn't mad at it. Like, I definitely. I like that one.
Rory
Now, if it's a lot of features that can become a little over stimulating for me when it's like a lot like every song is a feature is a little over stimulated.
Mall
The Henny and the Honey Pack had me dying. When I came on, I was like, all right, Chris, what you want, bro?
Rory
That's the song on there.
Mall
Henny and Honey Pack. Yeah.
Damaris
Is it good?
Mall
No, this song is good. I just think it should have been named something. But the hook is Henny and the Honey Pack. Like, I'm just. I laughed when it came on. I'm like, yo, Chris, like, you gotta chill though.
Damaris
Okay. Okay. Is it relatable?
Mall
Well, I never did. I never did Henny in the Honey Pack. But I'm just saying, like, I just think Chris is just like Chris Brown. Shouldn't. This hook on his album shouldn't be Henny in the Honey Pack. Like. But hey, man, I get it.
Damaris
It's a. Reflective of the. Of the time.
Mall
Listen, he living his rhymes, B. I ain't mad at it. The Vibes record is the only record that I. That. That threw me. That was the only record where I was like, all right, bro.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
Like, I'm hit. Much, much. Got to keep you out of Jamaica. Like, you can't keep going to Jamaica with Munch. Like, she got you going crazy.
Rory
Have y' all bought y' all tickets for the. For the tour?
Damaris
No, not yet. For Chris, and I shouldn't. I haven't. I'm waiting. I'm waiting for that Live Nation court case to finish so I don't have to pay the fees.
Mall
The marriage thing. Like, we ran to the site soon as it opened and was like, yo, we gotta get the CB And Usher tickets, yo.
Rory
You. I'm saying, niggas is getting too much money. They buying resale. My bad, my bad.
Mall
No, it ain't that. It's just that I wasn't. I wasn't rushing to get, like, running to get the tickets.
Rory
Oh, okay.
Damaris
In that Live Nation lawsuit, they're trying to get rid of that. That you could only resell what you paid for.
Rory
Oh, really?
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
So now I'm waiting. It's the opposite of getting money. I'm broke. Trying to get a proper reason.
Mall
I want to pay the regular price.
Rory
I didn't know that that was a lawsuit that was going on right now.
Damaris
It's a really big one.
Rory
Okay.
Damaris
But I mean, as. I always want to talk about this stuff, but I feel like a lot of our listeners, like, that's something I enjoy to talk about, not what people want to hear about. But, yeah, follow that lawsuit. It's. It's getting kind of crazy. They're trying to say Live Nation is a monopoly, which they have a case.
Mall
Okay. They could just buy them tickets themselves and just.
Damaris
They own the venues, the promoters deals with the artists. Like. Yeah. No one else can. They bought up all the small venues. Irving Plaza is a Live Nation.
Rory
That's crazy.
Damaris
So if I got. If I gotta go tour and I'm doing 500 seat, I have to go through Live Nation. Yeah, it's. It's crazy. And then they're also overcharging us with fees that don't even really exist. Like, I'm not paying a convenience fee. It's not convenient that this.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
Like, the. Are you talking about?
Rory
Yeah. And it's hard to.
Damaris
You know, you used to be able
Rory
to go to the box office and just buy tickets. They've made that weird now.
Damaris
Yeah. So definitely, if. If you're into nerdy like me, go looking at that case. It is very interesting. There hasn't been a verdict yet. And I know there's multiple lawsuits within the lawsuit. It's going to be one of those that lasts, I think, you know, two or three years before we get there.
Rory
Oh, Ticketmaster is included because. Oh, Live Nation owns Ticketmaster. Didn't know that.
Damaris
No. So it's a monopoly.
Rory
Oh, I didn't know that.
Damaris
That's 100% a monopoly. All right, then that's why they get away with all these. These random charges that they make you pay when you buy a ticket. So.
Rory
Because I was. When I, when I asked my little sisters and them what they pay for the Usher and Chris Brown tickets, and they were like, we're like four rows back and we paid 850 in Syracuse and I looked at them like cross eyed like, are you kidding me? Like, are you $850?
Damaris
Well, they were probably 500 and then when they got to checkout, it became 800.
Mall
It's taxes and fees, you know, that's gratuity.
Rory
Even. Even with like inflation. That's insane.
Damaris
Yeah, gratuity as well.
Mall
Sides.
Damaris
But if, I mean, if any show is going to be 800 bucks, I, Usher and Chris Brown, I sort of. That's a lot, though.
Mall
That is.
Damaris
That is too much to see.
Rory
That's.
Damaris
That's live music.
Rory
I mean, I'm.
Mall
Chris Brown is worth it. Let's just put that.
Rory
It ain't worth 850 to see. No artist is not worth it for a show. I think. I think we've like, like, y' all know, like Constant was. Look, was watching Michael Jackson for 100. Michael Jackson 150. 200.
Damaris
Yeah, that's. That's 800 right now.
Mall
Yeah, but them was all the way in the back, though. No, bro, nobody had a. Nobody paid a hundred dollars for a front row Michael Jackson ticket. We're not doing.
Rory
I'm sure they wasn't all the way in the back. They might have been in the middle.
Mall
Was up there with Messier's jersey, man wasn't in the front row to see Mike for a hundred dollars, man.
Rory
Put it, pull it up. How much is the tickets? Ryan's pulling it up right now,
Mall
man.
Rory
Was paying $30 to see Michael Jackson, bro.
Mall
Where was they sitting at?
Rory
It don't matter.
Mall
You. That's not. That's euro, first of all.
Rory
Yeah, that's €1750. Which back then was like what, 23.
Mall
Wembley Stadium. Them, you know, them couldn't even see Mike. They heard him. They couldn't see him. 1750 at Wembley Stadium in 88 right.
Damaris
All right. 17, 1988 is the equivalent to 47 now.
Mall
Almost. Almost triple. Almost triple.
Damaris
No, that's kind of what. Even if they were in the last row, like, the last row now is 400.
Mall
Listen, for Chris Brown and Usher, they gonna put on the show and looking
Damaris
at what festival stuff is. Woodstock was 18.
Rory
Damn.
Damaris
That's a buck 60 right now, which I got. I mean, you could get a festival tickets for 160.
Mall
Hell yeah, you can.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
It's like Roots Picnic, though, where Jay Z's performing. It's pretty.
Rory
Yeah. Yeah. But when people was buying their tickets, when they put up the prices of them tickets, like, people ain't know Jay Z was performing. Are you seeing what I'm saying?
Damaris
Yeah, but people have bought their Roots tickets before they had Usher. They felt like they always have a crazy headliner. And for two days, that's not a bad.
Mall
That's great.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
For two days.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
Buck 60. I mean, that's how festival started to, like, win is because. All right, I might pay a buck 60 to see one artist or a buck 60 to see 75. Like, I'm paying that buck 60 for sure.
Rory
Like, yeah, it's definitely a good deal for sure. But, yeah, I don't know, man. Even when I paid Beyonce. A 700 for Beyonce and I was front row. Like, not front row, but I was in the front on the floor seats. I was like, okay, that's high. It's high. But it's Beyonce. It's Renaissance. It's a moment. But I can't see myself paying $700 for any other artists. $800, $900. And they were willing to pay a thousand. I was like, that's fucking insane.
Damaris
The demand of production value is crazy. Now. It's like Mike. Everything I've watched is Mike being an incredible dancer and vocalist, and they were incredible shows. But when I saw on the Run, the stage went from one side of the field to the other. Like, the production value you have to put into stadium stuff to justify. I watched Chris Brown Fly around MetLife. Fly. Yeah, it's gonna. It's gonna cost a lot to make that show happen.
Mall
For sure. Baby D, are you ready to apologize? Because you kind of, like, went crazy on me when we talking about the hottest rapper.
Damaris
Listen, that was the quintessential reaction from a woman when you say, are you ready to.
Rory
Well, I didn't know what the he
Damaris
was talking about because why would you ever. Like, you would never.
Mall
And I say that. And I named Don Tolliver.
Rory
I didn't say that. You were crazy for saying Don Toliver. I said that.
Mall
Now you told her. She was like, yo, Weasel, I was in Houston for a week. I ain't hitting no Don.
Damaris
I want an apology, too, okay? Because I was on mall side.
Rory
Let's. I'm not disrespecting Don Toliver. What me you got into a back and forth about? Was that at the time, the date where they stopped the list, Right? Because you. Because they had J. Cole higher than Don Toliver. And at the date they stopped the list, which was a little bit after the falloff came out, I said, don Toliver at the time of the list was not hotter than J. Cole. When the falloff dropped. I don't think that that's a crazy take, and I'm not apologizing for that yet.
Mall
He was hotter than. He's hotter now.
Rory
Okay. He has.
Mall
He hasn't let up.
Rory
I'm not. No, Don to is probably.
Damaris
The octane numbers are, like, they should be studied. I've never seen an album maintained in this era the way Oxane.
Rory
Don to is probably the hottest rapper right now.
Damaris
It's nuts. He's been the hottest rapper.
Rory
Not hotter than jcole in the fall.
Damaris
Have you also. Have you listen to auctions?
Rory
That's just my opinion. I think there are some of it, but that's.
Damaris
It's also like, usually when. When albums do this shit, it's because the kids and his music. I fucking hate. That octane album is incredible.
Mall
Like, it's the best album this year so far.
Damaris
I'm not mad at that take at all. It's really good.
Rory
Yeah. I'm not mad at. I'm not mad at Mall's take either. But I'm also. I'm not apologizing for what I said, because what I said still makes perfect sense.
Mall
No, it doesn't. J. Cole was never hotter than this nigga. This year, no, the week.
Damaris
I mean, the week of the fall off, J. Cole was the hottest rapper.
Mall
So you think they base it on that week?
Rory
Not even that week leading up to the fall off outside of sales. Because obviously before fall off, the fall off hadn't come out yet. Outside of sales. Yes. Everybody was talking about JCole. Y' all might have talked about John to on this podcast once or twice talking about jcole for two months. Like, I don't think what I said is crazy. N. If you're talking about how that I hear you on for that time, Yes. N. Been waiting for the fall. A fall off since, since the beef. Like I'm not, I don't think that that's crazy. But shout out to Don and he deserves everything that he's getting. The music is good and he is hot as fuck. He is probably the hottest rapper right now for sure.
Mall
Probably.
Rory
Probably. Yeah. I would have to look at some shit, but yeah, I'm not mad at somebody saying he's the hottest rapper right now.
Mall
Did you see his Rolling Loud set?
Rory
No, I didn't watch any of the role outside of trims. I didn't watch any of the rolling out.
Damaris
He's selling like two weeks.
Mall
Just look at one of those clips. Just one actually. Just look at when he came out.
Rory
But he was hot when we saw his, his show, they went crazy when we saw him at Made in America that year. Remember that?
Damaris
He's probably double as popular since then, maybe even triple. But no, I did see clips from his set. It did look great.
Rory
Shout out to him.
Damaris
He love, he love a forest on stage, doesn't he? Why is it, why is Don Tolliver always in the woods?
Mall
I mean, you know that octane.
Damaris
Is he from Houston too? Where's John Toler from?
Mall
He's from Texas, I believe.
Damaris
Okay. Yeah, that's crazy. Well, shout out to Rolling Loud because that, that's crazy.
Rory
He's from Houston.
Damaris
That's and, and it was a, a non violent Rolling Loud. Right. Everyone in the city of Orlando was safe.
Mall
I, I, I haven't heard anything.
Damaris
Okay. Love to hear that type of stuff.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Okay.
Mall
Well, a college full player got shot at Rolling Loud.
Damaris
Okay. Was that like Florida State or was that Rolling Loud?
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
Did somebody recognize him? It's like a rivalry or something like, I don't know. The Rolling out is live.
Damaris
I'm glad he's okay at least.
Mall
Yeah, hopefully he is okay. Playboy Carti security.
Rory
Well, that's regular though.
Mall
Yeah, that just sounds like, you know, that's something like that happened at a festival.
Damaris
He was trying, I think that's part of the Playboy Cardi set.
Mall
Yeah, he's what the.
Rory
Ahmad Hardy was shot from the Missouri running back was shot in Mississippi at a concert. He was not at Rolling Loud.
Mall
He's right. He's trying to put that on RL.
Rory
He's trying to put it on RL.
Mall
Don't do that. RL's are, you know, I mean, they run a very safe establishment, man. Very safe. Safe. Safe.
Rory
There's a Rolling Out Loud movie.
Damaris
Oh, is there? Oh, congrats them. Yeah, of course I can see it. I mean it's one of again not my cup of tea with a lot of the artists they have on there and the crowd that goes. But it's, it's definitely one of the most iconic festivals in hip hop.
Rory
Oh, it's going to be a comedy film. Owen Wilson, Matt Rife, Christine Cole, Owen
Mall
Wilson is it it's script.
Rory
It's upcoming American comedy film written and directed by Jeremy Garlic. The film stars Owen Wilson, Christian Convery Mat, Kristen Cole, Henry Winkler and Olivia Lardi.
Damaris
Wait, so okay, is it happened to be called Rolling Loud or this is about the creation of Rolling Loud.
Rory
It's, I think it's inspired by this Social network or inspired by true story. This comedy is a story of an overprotective father who attempts to Bond with his 13 year old son by sneaking him into the Rolling Loud Hip Hop Music festival.
Mall
Oh, this is gonna be.
Damaris
Oh no, that actually sounds like a great. That's some Harold and Kumar go to White Castle but for Rolling Loud. Yeah, and good for Rolling Loud because I know that's going to bring that
Rory
Live Nation productions
Mall
right back. They right back. You thought they wasn't gonna get PC. You thought they wasn't gonna.
Damaris
Yeah, they probably own Regal too.
Rory
Shout out to Live Nation.
Mall
We ain't got no choice, but I
Rory
was about to say don't we got like, we got connects there. Shout out to Live Nation. We'd love to do a Rolling Loud. You know what I'm saying? Invite us.
Damaris
I'd be so scared to just be in the Rolling Loud crowd. Really, it just, it just scares me.
Mall
I don't know.
Damaris
I, I, I feel safer in, in a Crip neighborhood in Flatbush, young kids on drugs terrify me. I don't. Because they're, they're unpredictable. You have no idea what's going to happen.
Rory
Yeah, but they all on the slow drugs. Like I don't think Rolling Loud smells like coke. Like I like rolling out smells like lean and weed.
Damaris
I don't know.
Mall
You think they ain't doing coke at Rolling?
Rory
I'm sure they are.
Damaris
But you know, Rolling Loud books a lot of alleged gang member rappers and I think they're the least scary people there. I think them 12 year old white kids are way more terrifying than everyone on that stage.
Rory
Nah, I want to go.
Mall
We should go in here to Rolling Loud.
Damaris
I mean they, they had them in New York for years straight. Because I think this Orlando was the only one they're doing this year. Right. Didn't they, they pull back a little bit.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Because they was doing one every oh my God. Every other, Every other Tuesday they were doing. See, Exactly.
Rory
They hit that girl with a whole recycling bin.
Damaris
Yes.
Mall
Yeah, but it was empty.
Rory
What the fuck?
Mall
It's not that heavy.
Damaris
That's why they could throw it that far.
Mall
It was empty, man. That's just like getting hit with the gun.
Damaris
Exactly. Damaris. I know when I'm in a gang neighborhood, what can happen. There is some predictability there. I would be standing watching Don Toliver and a fucking recycling bin would hit my head. No, I don't want to be there.
Rory
We go viral.
Mall
No, I'm cool.
Damaris
So what would you guys say if I went viral for being hit with a recycling bin?
Rory
Thank you for your sacrifice.
Damaris
Would that get us to the next level?
Rory
Probably. Honestly, if you streamed it, I'm not mad.
Damaris
That's just a good old fashioned fair one. Yeah, I wouldn't, I wouldn't on Rolling out for that. That's, that's fine. That's just, you know. Oh, boys will be boys.
Rory
Wow.
Damaris
It's. It's that guy jumping up and down with the cat mask on that I'm more scared of. Not these two guys having a fair one.
Rory
Have you guys heard of the artist Trim? She's one of the kids in our Keeping up with the Kids segment. The artist Trim?
Damaris
No.
Rory
So she has that boat song that's like went super viral and everything. And she gets a lot of Nicki Minaj comparisons. So they were on her ass hard for.
Damaris
Oh my God, she looks like a mini Nicki.
Rory
Yeah, they were on her. And if you hear the song, if you hear the way she raps it, it this. Yeah, they're like kind of trying to make her market her as a, a, A young Nicki Minaj.
Damaris
Jesus Christ. Is that her child? Like for real?
Rory
You've heard. Play the song real quick. We'll take it out.
Damaris
But that's a Nikki clone. But then, but then again, respectfully, a majority of a lot of the new female wave is. It's Nikki's kids. This, this one is like carbon copy shit, but with a lot of the, the, the, the bigger female rappers that, that go in that lane. I'm not saying like a little Sims rhapsody that that world. It's Nikki's DNA like everywhere.
Rory
Well, if you want to suc. If you want to sell records and succeed, you have to look at Nikki's career. She's the highest selling female rapper.
Damaris
But I'm even like saying down to cadence, like everything is kind of derives from Nikki in that world.
Rory
I, I think with Her. Yes. And with some of them, but I think with the newer. The newer female rappers, they're all from the south and they sound like they're from the South. I think it's a little bit different.
Damaris
Oh, yeah.
Rory
Dolce has her moments where she sounds like Nikki, but, I mean, Dolce's admitted
Damaris
that there's nothing wrong with being influenced by Nikki.
Mall
She's.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
One of the greatest, for sure. But I think the South Doja has Nikki DNA everywhere. Like it exists with the bigger female rappers, in my opinion. I'm not saying every rapper sounds like Nikki, but I'm saying the.
Rory
Her DNA is all over the sport. You can't deny that.
Damaris
But this one, it's dudes that rap like Nicki for sure.
Rory
But this one sounds like.
Damaris
If we keep it in a book,
Mall
dudes rapping like Nicky is hilarious.
Rory
Man.
Mall
Would do rap like Nicky.
Damaris
I'm not saying it.
Mall
No, I think it's cool, man.
Damaris
Keep it up with the kids.
Mall
Maybe I missed it. Maybe my idiot. And pick up Nikki bars and Nikki flow. I just need to hear what. You know. I mean, what. Who was inspired by Nikki on the. On the male side. That's all saucy.
Damaris
Santana.
Mall
So you said Trim did what now? She did. I'm not. I'm not listening. Trim did what?
Rory
Saucy Tan Santa makes really good music.
Damaris
No, I. No, I agree. I'm really just around.
Rory
So with Trim, outside of the Nikki comparisons of, like, the song when the song first came out, the pink hair or whatever that she came out with, whatever, they're killing her because of her lack of breath control. She's shouting the lyrics, and I just felt like they were being a little hard on her. And like they do with newer female rappers. Because Rolling Loud is a big fucking stage for somebody who has one viral hit. And it's like they throw you on the Rolling Loud.
Mall
I'm not a performer. It takes years to learn that.
Damaris
And the world is misogynistic. I agree to Maris. I'm not letting you add that they kill everyone at Rolling Loud. That stinks. Not just.
Mall
They killed Ice Spice. Remember that?
Damaris
That didn't really help my point.
Rory
Yeah, nice.
Mall
What? Why?
Damaris
I'm saying they kill men, too. That. That suck at performing Rolling Up.
Mall
Oh, yeah, they just killed. What was it?
Damaris
Reiki Black Boy Max was booed. Like, Max made music. That's his just platform when he streams, he's making music. He has other artists come in too. But, yeah, he's like, okay. Which I think is cool. He's one of the only streamers that does that. I think that's actually really cool.
Rory
I didn't know that, though.
Damaris
I mean, like, his music isn't like my. But I do respect that, that he adds that element into streaming. But with that said, I don't care how young the artist is or whatever. You should get killed if you're rapping over your song. Like, if you're. The lyrics are there. Yeah. You should get killed. Like, what's the little Nikki girl?
Rory
Her name's trim.
Damaris
Okay. She should get killed. That's awful. Why can't. We can't hold artists to. To high standards. If I. If I'm paying 800 to. To go to a concert, I can't hold an artist to a high standard that you. Please don't rap over the track.
Rory
Track.
Damaris
Like, know what you're doing.
Rory
I don't even think it's the rapping over the track. That's not why she get killed. All the rappers rap over the tracks now. All of them.
Damaris
And they should all get killed for it.
Rory
I don't. I hear you. As long as I can hear you over the track. As long as I can hear you.
Damaris
I don't listen to the song in
Rory
my car if there's a backtrack.
Mall
Yeah. Nah, rappers can't do that. You got it.
Rory
I hear you. I used to have your vocals on
Mall
the hook, maybe, but like the verse. I don't want to hear that.
Damaris
Have the TV track have. Have just the last bar. So in case you up.
Mall
Just find like, you Just the ad libs.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
But the vogue. The lead should be you.
Damaris
I don't think we're being. Get off my lawn here at all. Like, we should hold music, live music to some standard at some point.
Mall
I paid to see a show. I didn't pay to hear you do karaoke.
Damaris
Yeah, I don't think that's crazy to ask as a fan, that I want to see you actually rap the song. Right.
Rory
What I was saying was they were killing her, and I feel like they killed. They. It's not just her, but they were killing her for having a lack of breath control when she was rapping. She was running out of breath, running across the stage. I'm like, that's. She's a. She just has one song.
Mall
Yeah. She's listening. She's not. Yeah, she got. This is her. Her learning experience. She'll learn from this. You know what I'm saying? And hopefully she'll get better.
Rory
Yeah. But I don't think you can call a rapper trash because they're. They have one hit song, and this is their first big show, and they're. They're trying to run across a rolling owl stage and they're running out of breath. Tell them to get better. But, yeah, yeah, no, you can call
Damaris
him a trash performer. I'm not saying that she doesn't have time to get rehearse and get better or anything, but even when Ice Spice went from unknown to two weeks later on the wrong loud stage, like, I get it. That's nuts. And I wouldn't even know how to do that, but I can still say it's trash.
Rory
Like, yeah, well, I feel. So with Ice Spice was a little
Damaris
bit like, don't miss the look either. I get like. I'm not saying you should say no to it.
Rory
Yeah. Ice's thing was Ice. I remember people used to complain that Ice was boring. It was like Ice used to just kind of sit there and.
Damaris
Yeah, everyone was waiting for her to twerk.
Rory
This one was. Had a lot of energy, and because she's not trained, when you have a lot of energy and you're really performing, you will run out of breath very fast if you don't learn breath control. And that was the issue. It wasn't like, you're not trying, but you run out of breath because you're trying so hard.
Damaris
Yeah. Or where to hold the mic on certain bars, how far to keep it away from you, when to bring it.
Rory
Like, that takes a lot of time.
Damaris
Yeah, it does. But I also don't think that means everyone in that audience should give her grace. Like, oh, she needs to learn breath. Shut up.
Rory
The people that were complaining were the people on the Internet. People at the show. It's never the people at the show
Damaris
unless everyone's high in the ground.
Mall
Yeah. They're too busy throwing recycling. They don't even know who's on stage.
Damaris
Well, that could have caused this. Has no breath control. Yeah, they just throw a recycling fish.
Mall
Them kids don't even know what the kids are.
Damaris
I. I do think we should still hold the artists to a standing. Oh, I don't care how much time.
Mall
Absolutely. I mean, at least that's the least we could do. Like, we let them do everything else. Can we still hold them to some type of standard? Like, when it comes to live performance? I mean, they don't got to be talented no more. Ain't got to be have bars. They ain't got to be dope. We done took that off the table. Like. Nah, just, you know, just vibes. We just want you to vibe. You ain't really got to say shit. We gave them that. Now we don't care if the live show sucks or not. Come on. But I'm not putting too much stock into trim. Not having a good Rolling Loud performance. Cause she's a new artist, big stage to try to cover that Rolling Loud festival, you know, like.
Rory
And she was trying. I'm cool with an artist not having a good show if I see them trying. If your issue is you're running out of breath cause you're trying so hard. I'm not mad at that.
Mall
No, I want to see her. I want to see her next year this time. Yeah, next year, this time. If it's not any, you know, development, any growth and a lot of performance, then it's like, all right, shorty, like. Like, we saw you last year and Rolling Loud, we gave you grace. Cause you know, it's your first time out. But take this moment, learn from it and build on it. That's all.
Damaris
Why were they throwing garbage at Blackboy Max? Admittedly, I didn't, like, pay garbage.
Mall
I think that's just something they do. They throw water bottles at it.
Damaris
No, clearly we see they throw recycling bins, but they just throw shit.
Mall
That's why the bins empty.
Rory
Throwing loud.
Mall
Throwing all the trash.
Damaris
Throwing loudest money.
Rory
Throwing loud.
Mall
Throwing loud.
Rory
Wait, somebody commented and said, why they throwing his music at him?
Damaris
All right.
Rory
They terrible.
Damaris
That's up.
Mall
That's why nobody want to do, like, shows now because we got to see this type of online after that.
Rory
Yeah, they said another. Another streamer went up there and got booed off the stage. He came to, like, turn the crowd up. He got booed off the stage.
Mall
That was Rakai. They booed Rakai ass. That was the one clip I saw. I was like, damn. No, look at Rakai. Look how he came out. He thought it was love. Nah, we not with you.
Rory
What did he do? Damn, how he pissed the people off. He.
Mall
They wasn't with Rakai.
Rory
I don't know. Is it. Is it because their fans don't leave the house? Like, their real fans don't leave the house? So it's a different.
Damaris
I could see that.
Rory
Different audience.
Mall
See, then there's. That got guys on stage. That's not really artists.
Rory
Well, he wasn't performing, though. He came to turn the crowd up. Like, kind of like a, you know, like an emcee. Like, he's hosting.
Mall
Oh, that's what he was doing. I thought he was performing. Yeah, you gotta boo in the MC is Crazy booing the. That's trying to just, like, introduce somebody
Damaris
booing the guy that says, yo, make some noise. If you're in college,
Mall
make some noise. If you safe.
Rory
Ryan, play it so I can hear.
Damaris
I respect that he did that, though. Boo.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Orlando. Orlando a got no love for Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg Death Row. Orlando got no love for RA In Under Armour. But you got to understand the baby set the. The standard so high for make some noise at Rolling Loud. Once you say make some noise, you've been sucking man's dick in the parking lot.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Where do you go from there? Rolling Loud.
Mall
Yeah. The bar is here.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
See, that's what happens. So now everybody else is a disappointment because what the baby did was unprecedented.
Damaris
Like, Fat Man Scoop started, would make some noise. If you have $5 in your pocket and the baby took it to a hole.
Mall
Took it to a whole new level.
Rory
Can you imagine, like, standing next to your homeboy?
Mall
He'll make noise when the baby accent.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
Oh, then I gotta ask my man, is there something he wants to talk about?
Damaris
Especially. Especially because we drove together.
Mall
That's because we in the same. Cause like, why you ain't making.
Rory
You gotta tap that. Like, make some noise for people. Think something like, come on now, yo,
Damaris
scream in which that. That puts you in a position, too, because we've talked about on this podcast many times, we're not the people that yet, like, make some noise at concerts. We're not those people. He would pin me in a corner there because I'd be like, now I gotta scream.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
That'll be the one time I make mad noise like, nah, me and Rory ain't do that in the parking lot. Yeah.
Damaris
That they point. Max had some video outside of Rolling Loud where he. He had a little. Little zest in his step and somebody commented, why is being fake gay?
Mall
The new aesthetic that knew they've been on that. That's been the way.
Damaris
Yeah, I. I don't know Flag boy Max's sexuality, but he had a video that people were questioning. I don't know enough about. I'm not. I don't want to put that. That on anyone. Yeah, that one.
Rory
Oh. Oh, he good at it.
Mall
But what is. What is that?
Damaris
That was Damaris's version of I See you.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
Yeah. What is that, though? What is.
Damaris
I don't know.
Mall
Is that.
Rory
Oh, yeah. Trim has a new song called Co Nut Water. But I don't know if he was just, you know, doing his thing.
Mall
Is that a move?
Rory
It's not viral in. Over in my algorithm. I don't know.
Mall
Okay. I thought I was like a dance or something.
Damaris
I've seen certain men vibe to Nikki's music the same way and they. Never mind.
Mall
Yeah, I mean, listen, man. Shout out to Rolling Loud.
Rory
Oh, is he Vogue? Oh, I. Oh, maybe he.
Mall
Nah,
Damaris
listen, we have been big supporters of Platboy Max on. On this platform with the complex list. First time he was at it, I thought it was the best option. Continued success. We don't care.
Rory
Fruit boots is funny. Fruit boots instead of Froot Loops is funny. But I mean, you know. Hey, do y' all think.
Damaris

you see the difference in the beard. I know you see.
Mall
I know you was, you was, you
Damaris
was, you was looking like, oh, look a little more amber today.
Mall
I thought it was staple, but it was a little, you know, it was something different. It was something.
Damaris
Oh, man, I've. I've, I've went through a lot of beard products that typically just dry out my very, very sensitive skin. But I've been on my basking lather and finally found something that actually works with my skin. I've been basking in the lather every single time, the shampoo, the conditioner. And they have the oil that, that softens my beard. And you know summer's coming. You want a woman to run her
Mall
fingers through your beard, you gotta have a soft beard. It has to be softer.
Damaris
Beard softener is needed.
Mall
Very important.
Damaris
This, this, this ginger hair sometimes gets
Mall
a little rough, but it's not the best. The skin under the beard too though. Yeah. Need to be conditioned.
Damaris
And you know, and I know there's a lot of people out there with some patches. I'll just say some people's beards don't connect. Damaris hates those type of guys. They have an oil as well that just makes your beard fuller.
Mall
Okay.
Damaris
Like sometimes I have to grow my beard out. Cause there's like a little, there's a little patchiness right here.
Mall
Just a little something.
Damaris
But that, that's been great as well. I use the beard balm especially if I'm on the move and just need my beard to smell better.
Mall
And Rory, it is important while you do enjoy basking leather, it is important to point out that it is black owned and family operated company, a brand. The CEO, Shana's younger sister was misdiagnosed. They said her hair may never go back. So the family took things into their own hands.
Damaris
Love that.

Rory
AP and Swatch got an AP coming out?
Mall
Yeah, they sleeping outside right now for that.
Rory
You serious?
Mall
Yeah, that's because you know what they're gonna do. It's a 500 watch. They're gonna try to flip it for like 5,000. You know that. You know what's great to happen?
Damaris
I miss when G shocks were popping because I could afford them.
Mall
Well, this is the new G shock.
Rory
That's the new G shock. Oh, the 16 year old's gonna need that for they sweet 16 this year.
Mall
What? The AP swatch.
Damaris
I mean, I did see rich people very upset about this. It does. It does. It does devalue the brand a bit.
Mall
Yeah. I'm about to get rid of my ap.
Damaris
Yeah, right.
Mall
I have to. I can't do that.
Damaris
You ha.
Mall
You have.
Damaris
You have to get rid of your ap.
Mall
I have to now.
Damaris
All right, when you get rid of it, show me what trash can you throw it in so I can grab it.
Mall
No, not. Not throwing it out. I got it. You know me. I gotta. I got to get something else now
Damaris
because they did this. Yeah, but it. You don't have the Swatch one.
Mall
I know.
Damaris
You have the regular ap.
Mall
I know.
Rory
So I'm sure Jeff Bezos and Jay Z and them are not upset about this. I'm sure they don't give a.
Mall
Nobody cares.
Damaris
No, I agree with you there. All right. Fake. Fake rich people are upset about this entire. I stand corrected. Yes. Fake rich people think it devalued the brand. But they have a point.
Rory
They don't want their peers being able to afford something that's similar to what they saved their lives for. That's what it's given. I think that that's so corny. I don't think it devalues the brand. It's something like, oh, yeah.
Damaris
I mean, as a customer, I am pissed. I can't rock an AP like that.
Rory
No more from ddg.
Damaris
Okay. But they did the iPhone C. And I still kept my iPhone. It's not the C. Yeah.
Mall
If iPhone does it. Remember the iPhone C. If iPhone does a collab with, you know, another phone and it's like, like, all right, fam.
Damaris
Like, yeah. If they. If the iPhone did like a Motorola flip. Yeah.
Rory
Collab should be fire.
Damaris
I like that.
Mall
My thing is why. Why are they doing this collab? That's my. That's my thing. Like, I, you know, it's like, why is AP and Swatch doing a collab? Like, why? I just don't understand the reasoning behind it.
Damaris
Yeah, just wait for the Rolls Royce and. And Honda collab. It's coming.
Mall
Yeah, like I saw. I understand. You know, watch collectors and it's just like art too, you know, it's. It's like you're doing the collab. It's like if. If you have an extensive wine collection and one of your favorite wine brands does a collab with Mad Dog 2020, you're gonna be like, all right, fam. Like you doing a ST Odds collab.
Damaris
Like, be nostalgic.
Mall
I mean, I could just understand how some people would be like, all right, what are we doing? Like, you know, it just kind of just. Why? I just want to know why AP decided to do that.
Damaris
So you hate Boone's Farm is what you think.
Mall
Oh, I just want to know why AP decided. Decided to do that.
Rory
I think it'd be cute for the kids. I'm happy that they gonna get the flex a little watches. I think that that's cute.
Damaris
I like. I don't think there's anything wrong. Like, when Kanye did the Red Octobers that were what, like five grand to get.
Rory
Oh, Red October's was a time and an incredible shoe.
Damaris
And then when he switched over to Adidas, I love that Kanye's goal was to make affordable that people could get like. Like, I. I get the theory. Like, when Dame explains he didn't want to sell the Escarta sneaker for $40 because we're putting Jay Z's name on a 40 sneaker now. Jay Z is worth $40?
Mall
Like, in what sneaker market?
Damaris
Yeah. Once you put a price on that, now, that's your price forever. But when you're AP already, I don't think there's anything wrong with having that tier of.
Mall
No, I just wanted to know why they decided to do it. I just. I didn't. I didn't read up on it and, you know, to understand why they decided to collab. But. But listen, I mean, you know, let's let the kids get. Get their AP and flip it for, like, $5,000 or something like that. Somebody will pay for it.
Damaris
Yeah. Why was everyone mad at the Nick Cannon and DDG wiling out? I've heard way worse on that.
Mall
What did. What did. What did they say?
Damaris
Chico and Carlos with. With Safari was 30 times worse than anything.
Rory
I think the. I think everybody was going crazy over the line where Nick Cannon basically said, like, you can't see your son.
Damaris
Funny.
Rory
Yeah, you can. And then DDG's I guess, his real spicy retort, because he came back with some. We only know you from Mariah Carey.
Damaris
And it's like, they said that 10,000 times.
Rory
Yeah. And then. Which is just also not true. And then he came back with, you got autumn kids. You should have aborted some or something like that.
Damaris
That's. Well, that's how he started it. You should have aborted.
Rory
Yeah.
Damaris
Some of your kids. So I think it's very fair to come back and say, well, at least my baby mother. My baby mother allows me to see them. Yeah, funny.
Rory
Yeah. DDG was up there stumbling though.
Damaris
He was, he was.
Rory
That was rough. He was like, oh, that ain't no rapper. That was rough.
Damaris
But I mean that's, there's plenty of, of actual rappers that have been on. And no disrespect, I mean to say actual rappers, because I'm. DDG does make music that have been up there that had a rough time. They opted like legend, legendary rappers have kind of opted out. Like I'm not quick on my feet like that and I don't freestyle. Like they, they've been rehearsing this. Like these guys have these lines written in their heads already. This is, it's a different realm that's not for everybody.
Mall
So DDG got up there and, and
Damaris
he was, he was still.
Mall
He dropped the ball in the way
Damaris
most people if they had to actually freestyle.
Rory
Yeah. After you told me like, you brought up like some personal. You brought up some personal shit. Now I'm emotional and I'm trying to think on my feet like, ah, you gotta have your written for Nick.
Mall
You know you going out, you know you going in. You gotta have something like you already. You got bars for Nick. You gotta go up there prepared. I ain't going up there trying to really freestyle.
Damaris
Cuz Nick is gonna be prepared too. You can tell Nick has. You can tell it's freestyling on the
Mall
show that give Nick bars.
Damaris
Like. No, but I'm saying even stuff that he's replying to some. Someone else on the spot that wasn't planned. I've seen Nick go. I mean, obviously like, like Carlos and Chico are the goats at that, but Nick is really good. Yeah, Nick. Nick could rap with anybody. On Wilding up without writers. Like I religiously watched every season of Wilding out and there was definitely stuff
Rory
that I didn't know it was still on.
Damaris
Well, they're starting the new cuz. Remember the whole. Nick said something about a certain group of people.
Rory
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
Mall
That one group.
Damaris
Yeah, yeah. So. But you know, they took a little break.
Mall
We'll be right back.
Damaris
Nick had to do some homework. He had to go to the museum. He had some things to do that is coming back. And I mean I, I love Wilding out, so I'm, I'm happy that.
Mall
21 seasons. Damn. Salute to Nick Canon, man.
Damaris
For sure.
Mall
Nick.
Damaris
Nick is a legend, baby. But on. On the, the comedy side, did you guys watch the Roast of Kevin Hart yesterday?
Mall
Yes, A couple clips. Yes. I Did shout out to Kevin Hart. He got his live roast on Netflix. I thought it was pretty good.
Damaris
I thought it was good. No, I loved it out the gate. It was a little shaky. When Tom Brady started it, I was like, where?
Mall
Tom Brady wasn't that bad. It was Tom Brady. What you expecting, man?
Damaris
Throw that sandwich that in between two comedic. Like, starting out. Out with Tom was like, all right. The Usher made me laugh. And then, I don't know, it just got off to a rocky start. But it was. Other than that, it was great.
Mall
Who was the who you thought stole the show?
Damaris
I mean, the Rock gave us no choice.
Mall
Yeah, I said the Rock came out. It was clear. It was like, there's celebrities and then there's the Rock. Like, it's just. This is different. That's all.
Damaris
But the Rock was funny.
Mall
Yeah. He was
Damaris
going to sound crazy and. And we'll get to, like, the actual community in a second. Lizzo wasn't bad. I know she giggled through a lot of herself. I didn't know Lizzo was that funny. Like, Lizzo was really. Has really good comedic timing.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Because even when you have people that are not comedians and someone else writes their stuff for them, they're just. They. Yeah, they just suck at reading it. Like, Lizzo was really good. Draymond wasn't bad. For a basketball player.
Mall
Draymond wasn't bad.
Rory
Draymond saying, I wouldn't. Chelsea Handler, because I'm Draymond Green. I don't hit threes. Was that. That made me giggle.
Mall
That was funny.
Damaris
Tony Hinchcliffe, who's. Who's one of the best at it. Probably his worst roast set. I was actually a little disappointed. That was my.
Mall
Kind of. You didn't like, Tony set it?
Damaris
Well, Tony. Tony is so good at that stuff that I'm holding him to a Tony standard. Like.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
Out of coming off the Tom Brady roast, he had one of the best sets by far. It was kind of lackluster for Tony, in my opinion. Opinion.
Mall
Cheryl Underwood was great.
Damaris
She was hilarious.
Mall
She was hilarious. Yeah, sure. Underwood was great.
Damaris
Yeah, she was. I mean, Shane did a really good job.
Mall
Regina hold was funny, too, though. She act like she was, like, channeling Kevin's mom from heaven, like, her thoughts and what she was saying.
Damaris
It took a bit to, like, get into the. The joke. Yeah, it dropped. But once she got into it, that was hilarious. Yeah. But, yeah, I thought it was great.
Mall
We thought about that coming up.
Damaris
Amazing.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
And I'm glad that they. They did their beef there. I actually believe this One. I didn't really believe the Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft one at the time, but I didn't believe that first.
Mall
Yeah. Yeah.
Damaris
But that was the fakest hug I've ever seen.
Mall
Yeah. I think that Cat and Kev, I think they. They really pieced it up, though. I think that was.
Damaris
I'm sure they've had.
Mall
And I love the fact that Kev didn't know Cat was coming out. Like, that was, like.
Damaris
He probably did, but.
Mall
No, he didn't. You can see it in his face. Like, when. When. When Regina. Yeah. When she bought him out, you could. You could tell he was like, oh, like, all right. Like, like, didn't expect him to, but I. I didn't. It was funny that Chris Rock wasn't there. It was funny that Chappelle wasn't there and Eddie Murphy. Cause they was all together for the brunch, the comedy brunch. So when I saw the pictures of Marlem at the comedy brunch, I'm like, oh, shit. They probably all gonna come out for Kev's roast as well. So when Eddie Murphy wasn't there and Dave wasn't there, and, you know, obviously Dave has a relationship with Netflix. Chris Rock has a relationship with Netflix. Like, so for them not to be there was kind of like. Like, it's a little interesting. Like, why wasn't they at Roast?
Damaris
I. I mean, I can just obviously just speculate. I feel like when you're at that, like, goat level and you've never done the roast, the pressure to be the best there. Like, let me just stay out of this world.
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
Nah. Hell nah. I'm thinking it was more of a money thing. They probably was like, shh. You know how much you want to give Eddie and Dave and Chris to come?
Damaris
Well, I mean, I forgot who said it. I thought it was funny. They said the reason your Netflix account keeps going up in price is because Chappelle does speeches on there.
Mall
Yeah. Naeem Lynn said that.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
Oh, yeah.
Damaris
He was shooting at Chappelle. The whole. Is there something personal that. Not, like, for real, but it was very odd that he dedicated half of his set, which was great, to somebody that wasn't there.
Mall
Well, it was on Netflix, so he probably was like, shit. Dave has probably made more money from his Netflix specials than any other comedian.
Damaris
But I'm trying to think, because Chappelle has made a lot of Kevin Hart jokes in. In most of his specials, there's always, like, a Kev shot somewhere.
Mall
Yeah, but they fuck each other.
Damaris
No, no. For sure. But I'm trying to think if he ever said some, like, plastic cupboys. Probably did, but that's something that.
Mall
That's part of it, though. That's part of that culture. Like, you go on stage, you say something on your set about me. All right, nigga, I got you. But I don't know if it's personal. I don't know if it's, like, real, you know, tension or nothing there, but I did expect. Once you saw the pictures come out with all of the comedians at the brunch, Netflix is a joke brunch. I definitely thought that Eddie Murphy and Dave and Chris were going to be at the roast, but I just.
Damaris
I don't know that the pressure of those three, if they always did roasts, it would make sense, but I feel like they'd have to have the most iconic roast set ever at that. Who.
Mall
I think Chris Rock has done somebody's roles before.
Rory
I think I'm. I'm sure Chris Rock has done one. I don't know about the. I'm sure Eddie Murphy hasn't, though.
Damaris
I. Chris Rock and Roast. I can't.
Mall
I think Chris Rock, he roasted somebody, I believe.
Damaris
No, I mean, he's done monologues where he's done, but, like, a specific, like, Comedy Central roast. I can't remember any of that, but
Mall
I feel like Chris did one.
Damaris
But I was sure. I mean, you know, Bill Burr and Kev came up together in New York. I was. I was hoping he would have been part of it, but the same thing. I don't know. Like, Bill Burr has done the roast of, like, Jim Norton, and in a comedy club that you can kind of YouTube, but he's never done, like, the quintessential one. It would have been great. Rest in peace to Patrice o'. Neal.
Mall
Oh, man.
Damaris
Patrice also came up with Kev. They used to live together. Like, that would have been incredible to get Patrice in that. But other than that, I thought it was a really good roast.
Mall
I thought it was.
Damaris
Big J got. He actually tricked me with his setup. I thought. I was like, keith Robinson is dead.
Mall
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Damaris
I was like, yo, what the.
Mall
I had no idea.
Damaris
And then they cut to him in the crowd. I was like, all right, man.
Mall
That was a laugh. He's not. He, though. He was dead to me. He got with Dave after Dave got rich.
Damaris
No, I literally saw. I was like, yo, what? How did I miss that? Cuz wasn't Keith sick, too? Or is sick?
Mall
I think so.
Damaris
That's why I was like, did I miss that he died.
Mall
Yeah.
Rory
I saw they made some jokes about. And I'm not being sensitive. I'm just asking y opinion on it. About Cheryl Lee. Not Cheryl Lee, Ralph Laura. Cheryl Underwood's husband killing himself. Himself.
Damaris
Yeah, I was. Shane did like seven of them throughout the entire time, but he kept saying that he called her the week before.
Rory
Oh, okay.
Damaris
And she was totally fine with it. But yeah, they were. They were. They still didn't compare to the bonsai tree.
Mall
Oh, joke that Kevin Hart was he.
Rory
What the.
Mall
You have to hang himself from a bonsai tree. That was funny.
Damaris
As said, if Kevin Hart was to be lynched, it'd have to be on a bonsai transfer. I was like, holy.
Mall
Yeah, that was funny. That was funny. It was good. I liked it. I enjoyed. I see some people online, you know. Yeah, it seems a little too harsh. I'm like, so roast.
Damaris
I thought the Tom Brady one pushed a crazier line than. Yeah, this one.
Mall
Yeah, I enjoyed it. I thought it was good.
Damaris
Yeah. But no, Shel Nord was great and was totally fine with those jokes being made.
Rory
I wouldn't have been, but I'm also not a comedian, but I don't think I would have been it.
Mall
Ah, maybe at a roast. You can't be sensitive at a roast. Don't even go up there. You can't even go up there. You know what this is about?
Rory
The difference between being sensitive and, like, my husband killed himself. Like, that's a little. There's some lines.
Mall
Pete Davidson's dad died in 9 11. You think that they was, like, held punches there.
Damaris
Every roast he's playing, they was like,
Mall
your dad is rolling around in his rubble right now. This is what they were saying up there. Like, you had a roast. Like, you can't fucking have. No, you can't be like, no, you can't say that. I think the only thing that this. I think everybody had to agree that they couldn't talk about Kev's kids. And that was the only thing that.
Rory
Which is extremely fair.
Mall
Yeah, it was off the. Was off the table. I think that was the only thing I was off.
Damaris
But even Pete. I forgot what I think it was the Justin Bieber roast that Kevin Hart hosted. Even Pete said on his set, soul Plane was the worst thing that happened in my life. Involving a plane.
Mall
Yeah. That was like. You get what I'm saying?
Rory
Yeah.
Mall
So it's that type of. That type of environment. Like, we ain't got time for that. Emotional in here. You can't be emotional motion.
Damaris
Yeah, it's A roast. But no, they, they. They tore up Tony Inchcliffe the whole time. Rightfully so, though. I get it.
Mall
I understand it.
Damaris
You. Even if he's not that fully, he. He has the stereotype of the complete right wing comedian. Talked at the Trump like, yeah, I thought they smoked on me.
Mall
Yeah. It was good, though. You need that. You needed that in the room, too, as well.
Damaris
Yeah, absolutely. But I do want to re. Watch it.
Mall
It's just.
Damaris
I watched it on the way. I wasn't watching it. I listened to it on the way up from Philly.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
I wasn't driving and watching it, but three hours. I know. Yeah. Yeah. I pulled up to park in front of the studio and There was still 15 minutes left.
Mall
Yeah.
Damaris
All right. Before we get out of here, once again, congratulations to the New York Knicks.
Mall
The New York Knickerbockers completing their sweep of the Philadelphia 76ers.
Damaris
I don't like it, man.
Mall
You don't like what? The sweep.
Damaris
It's going too good.
Mall
That's that trauma. That's that ptsd.
Damaris
It's going too good.
Mall
Post traumatic sweep disorder.
Rory
That's funny.
Damaris
It's going way too good and I don't like it. Yeah, I don't like it at all.
Mall
Know what the Pistons are. Great to come do to y'? All? Nah, man.
Damaris
Celebrate as is sometimes. Knicks fan, just speak. Speak from our perspective. Would you prefer the Cavs or the Pistons?
Mall
Any team. James Harden's on the playoffs. That's what I want to play.
Damaris
He showed up last game.
Mall
That's last game. That means he ain't showing up tonight.
Damaris
I don't.
Mall
That's all that means.
Damaris
If you want to bet against Harden tonight.
Mall
Yeah, the Pistons, they won. What? They was on a. I think they won what, how many games in a row up until that was five, six. They was down three. Yo, the Pistons, we just.
Damaris
We just won four.
Mall
The Pistons, three. One to the Raptors.
Damaris
Yeah.
Mall
Came back, won that series. The Magic came back, won that series, and then won the first two games against the Cavs.
Damaris
But I don't think we. We match up well against the Pistons. I mean, we weren't great against them in the regular season, but one thing
Mall
I learned about the New York Knicks is you don't want a good guard to come into the playoffs playing the Knicks because he's going to have a career game. The Knicks, just something about guards. When they come into the Garden for the playoffs, they just have career games. And Cade Cunningham is not the type of guard you want to play against. In the playoffs. The Knicks don't want to see Cade Cunningham. I can promise you that. Yeah, I can promise you that. The physicality, you know, I just.
Damaris
Pacers, Pistons. Any team with a P just for some reason goes crazy. No, just goes crazy in the Garden.
Mall
Yeah. So I don't know, but it is looking like it's gonna be the Pistons for the. For the. I believe the Pistons will beat the Cavs, but. Yeah, I don't. I don't know, man. I just. The Knicks look good, though. So just take that. The Knicks look good. Congratulations to them. Swept their way to the Easter Conference Finals.
Damaris
Like, it scares me that we let like OG even got to rest.
Mall
No, but that's. No, be happy about that.
Damaris
I love it. I love that we didn't have to. We didn't have to sacrifice.
Mall
Yeah, you get some more risk that.
Damaris
But it just scares me. It's too perfect. Listen, man, just because in the Knicks world, we'd have to, you know, put OG in a wheelbarrow and throw him on the court to try to win.
Mall
And listen, man, just take it one game at a time from here on out. That's all. Just focus on one game at a time.
Damaris
I mean, what do you think about your Lakers definitely coming back, right?
Mall
No, they'll be back tonight to play
Damaris
game four when they're listening to this. Now, the Lakers have been listening to this.
Mall
The Lakers have been swept. Turks on three.
Damaris
Turks on three is hilarious.
Mall
Like, it's over for the Lakers, but. Yeah, I mean, nobody expected them to beat okc. I just. I didn't think they would get swept. But I mean, hopefully when you listen to this, maybe they did win game four.
Damaris
Maybe the way the Knicks are playing, I think we match up against the Thunder. Well, like, that's why I'm so scared.
Mall
Oh, no. Yeah. Nobody matched them because if we play
Damaris
the way we're playing now, we can beat the Thunder. I just don't know if that's ever going to happen.
Mall
The only team that can beat the Thunder, the Spurs. In my opinion, that's the only team that can beat the Thunders. The Spurs.
Damaris
I mean, if they get still tied 2, 2.
Mall
No, that's a great series.
Damaris
It's a really good series.
Mall
I think they would have won a game four last night if Wimy didn't get ejected. But, you know, it happens. It is what it is. But the Knicks, you know, congrats to the Knicks. It was a great game from start to finish. They couldn't miss.
Damaris
Imagine a world. If it's The Timberwolves and the Knicks. And if Dolan wasn't such a cheap fight, that could have just been one team, would Randle.
Mall
Who else is over there?
Damaris
Steven Chenzo.
Mall
DiVincenzo. No. He's out, though, right? He toes Achilles, right? Yeah, yeah, he toes.
Damaris
But I mean, the Tim Rolls and Knicks are just a mirror image of each other.
Mall
Yeah. I mean, I don't know, man. It's gonna be a good. It's gonna be a good fine Eastern Conference finals. No matter who the Knicks get, though, they match. I think the Cavs are fun to watch. Donovan Mitchell and depending on if James decides to show up. But I don't think the Knicks want to see the Pistons, though. I just think the Pistons are just a tougher, tough way tougher opponent.
Damaris
Do you have any plugs? Can I just see one playoff game? Because I'm not even on my birthday. I was looking at prices and I said no. Not even for my own birthday. Am I doing this?
Mall
Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. I gotta make some calls. I'll see.
Damaris
I'll go nosebleeds.
Mall
Yeah. You just want to be in the building. Just want to. Just want to wave the towel.
Damaris
I will watch it on my phone in the garden.
Mall
You just want to wait without.
Damaris
Yeah, I just want to be there.
Mall
They look good, though, man. Shout out to the Knicks, man, y' all should celebrate. Take this time to celebrate and just take it one game at a time from here on out, man.
Damaris
Yeah, and shout out to Mitch. Man Ball. Don't lie. Karma is real.
Mall
You still holding on to that?
Damaris
No one was happy.
Mall
It's over.
Damaris
Oh, it's over now. No, it's over now.
Mall
They're going to the Eastern Conference finals. It's over, man.
Damaris
Posterized crying in the post.
Mall
All right, man. Well, Baby D, you good?
Rory
I'm okay.
Mall
Cavs are like, they going home. But it's all right, though.
Rory
I know my Timberwolves. I still have hope.
Mall
Tim. Wolves look good. It's tied up, you know, so we have to see.
Rory
Maybe the Cavs can come back.
Mall
But the Lakers, yeah, they going. They got their sunscreen ready. They ready to go to Turks. It's over.
Damaris
Does LeBron. Does he play next year?
Mall
Yeah, he plays next year.
Damaris
Okay.
Mall
LeBron is going to let you know when he's done playing.
Damaris
He's going to lotto us for sure.
Rory
Sure.
Mall
He's gonna. No, he's. When he retire, announces his retirement, he's done. He's gonna get the whole. You know, he Wants.
Damaris
No, I'm just saying he's gonna announce it for real.
Mall
I do think next year will be his last year, though.
Damaris
I think so too.
Mall
I don't at this point. What is he still playing for? He has all the, all the achievements. He's all time leading scorer, you know, I mean, he has rings, he has MVPs, played with his son. Something we'll probably never see again at this time. At this point, it's like, man, listen, man, it's over.
Damaris
Crazy numbers in the playoffs.
Mall
I know he felt like him and Luka maybe had a shot at getting one, but not when OKC and San Antonio is looking the way they looking, like they gonna battle for the rings for the next at least two, three years.
Damaris
Is. Is his last game. Does he go full Kobe? Like, do you think we'll get that last LeBron game? I'm not passing, I'm shooting every time. Like, do we get that same Lakers send off the way. The way Kobe's last game was?
Mall
Not with Luke out there. Kobe could do that. Cause he was out there with nobody. With L. You got Luka fucked up.
Damaris
Think Luka give a fuck about this.
Mall
Your last. Yeah, Luka gonna be like, man, if you don't give me that ball. You ain't shooting every shot with Luka. Nah, hell no.
Damaris
They gotta tell Luka the wrong date that day.
Mall
Shit. No, but you know the NBA make sure they send. Send LeBron off the way they supposed to. And he'll get his, you know, his farewell tour. Yeah, he'll get his lap around every arena. You know, once he announces it'll be his last year.
Damaris
I mean, obviously LeBron has his production company and a lot of business ventures.
Mall
LeBron is fine.
Damaris
But no, no, I'm saying what is. What is Bron's. Does career look like after basketball? Does he go commentary?
Mall
Does he ownership the team in Vegas? Yeah, something like that.
Rory
You know, a Wendy's.
Mall
Maybe some analyst work. You know what I mean?
Damaris
Like, he's Damaris thinks he's gonna buy one Wendy's.
Rory
No, multiple Wendy's.
Mall
Wendy's is Wendy's.
Rory
Is Multiple Wendy's.
Mall
Is LeBron a big Wendy's guy?
Damaris
I don't know.
Rory
I don't know.
Mall
Nah, I think he'll do. Obviously team owner for sure record label. Hope not.
Damaris
He could be the head of NR at Universal.
Mall
I hope not.
Damaris
It worked out for Ron Artest.
Mall
He'll do some analyst work for sure. Like LeBron's mind for the game definitely needs to be something that is courtside So I think he'll do some analyst work, things like that. He'll be around. He'll still be around the NBA, but, you know, I think it's like, what else are you playing for at this point? Cause I always said it. I always said he was waiting for Bronny. Is he waiting for Bryce, too? Who?
Rory
That's crazy. Waiting for Bryce, too is crazy.
Damaris
How old is Bryce?
Mall
He's in college. He just finished.
Damaris
Yeah, freshman year.
Mall
He didn't play, but.
Damaris
Yeah, that's right.
Mall
Is he waiting for Bryce? Is he trying to get Bryce in there?
Damaris
Not if Bryce redshirted. I'm just saying it's an extra year now.
Mall
LeBron could play two more years. He looked great this year. He had a great year. Physically, he's still.
Damaris
His numbers are the same.
Mall
Yeah, he's not playing. He hasn't, like, tape at all. I mean, yes, it's not. Not what it was in, you know, 2014, but, yeah, like, he's still. He still looks great. So LeBron could get two more years for sure.
Damaris
I hear you.
Mall
Yeah. But I don't know. I just think that, you know, for what. What is he playing for at this point? His. His legacy is already cemented, so 22 seasons.
Rory
He might just like the game.
Mall
Like. No, he loves the game.
Rory
Yeah, he might just love the game.
Mall
He love the game. He love the game. But it's. Sometimes you gotta. Even things you love, you gotta let em go before they let you go, Baby D. You know a little bit about that, right? Just a little bit. Tiny bit, right? We'll talk to y' all soon. Be safe. Be blessed. I'm that. He's just ginger. I love you, Baby D.
Rory
No Warrior now.

Summary by Podcast Summarizer
In episode 492 of "New Rory & MAL," the crew delivers their signature blend of humor, candid cultural commentary, and unfiltered opinions. The episode is anchored by a recap of the latest Versus battle (Rick Ross vs. French Montana), spirited debates about music industry “weirdness” (with Rick Ross and DJ Khaled coming under scrutiny), and reactions to new releases and performances, including takes on Chris Brown’s latest album, the implications of Latto’s retirement, and Rolling Loud highlights. The trio closes out with extensive NBA playoff talk and reactions to the Netflix Roast of Kevin Hart. Throughout, they riff on concert ticket prices, social media DM chaos, Live Nation’s ticketing monopoly, and musical trends among younger artists.
[11:25 – 14:29]
Audience Issues:
Mall questions the current Versus format, arguing that young crowds don’t resonate with the artists’ catalogs.
“A lot of these kids in the room were nine when some of these songs came out... I would rather it be just the artists in the room.” — Mall [11:50]
Voting Update:
Damaris explains this Versus was the first to use a digital voting system, resulting in French Montana narrowly beating Rick Ross (10-9).
“Before, it was just public opinion... French Montana won 10 to 9.” — Damaris [12:37]
Ross Performing “I’m Not a Star” Twice:
The crew roasts Ross’s decision to re-perform a song and lose both rounds.
“He might’ve felt like they didn’t hear that one... N****, you lost again.” — Mall [13:14]
Versus Fatigue:
They reflect that Versus may be losing its novelty.
“I don’t think it has the allure anymore.” — Damaris [14:28]
[14:38 – 20:59]
Questioning Rick Ross’ Behavior:
Damaris and Rory call out Rick Ross for jumping into Drake’s beef and then backpedaling, implying it was opportunistic and odd.
“Why are you in this whole thing?...Shut up. That’s some weirdo sh*t.” — Damaris [15:48]
Mall agrees:
“We knew what that was... He was trying to capitalize at the moment.” — Mall [16:13]
Drake’s Leverage in the Industry:
Mall discusses how artists “need Drake" for streams and visibility, and Ross’s actions reveal this dependence.
“People need Drake. They don’t stream well without him.” — Mall [18:05]
On Song Clearance:
Drake still cleared the use of their collaborative songs for Versus, which Damaris argues was itself a “petty” flex, proving other artists rely on his catalog.
“He did that to show all these other rappers: you can’t do a Versus without the songs I gave you.” — Damaris [19:10]
[22:38 – 25:07]
Drake vs. DJ Khaled:
Discussion on speculation that Drake might be throwing shots at Khaled on his new album due to Khaled's announcement of “two Drake records” without clearance.
“I don’t think it’s a diss...I just think that probably was whack, that’s all.” — Mall [25:07]
Damaris’ Perspective:
She notes Khaled’s neutrality and self-preservation has served his career, but the timing of his announcement was still off.
[26:35 – 34:48]
Latto’s Alleged Retirement:
The hosts react skeptically to Latto announcing a “retirement album.” Mall repeats:
“Rappers don’t retire. Hustlers do.” [27:18]
On Women Artists & Retirement:
Rory and Damaris joke about Mall only interrogating female rappers about their retirement plans.
“You only do that to people you don’t respect.” — Rory [31:42]
“Retirement Albums” vs. Taking a Break:
Discussion about whether female rappers get the same respect in career lifecycle conversations; consensus is Latto will likely return after motherhood.
[39:25 – 47:46]
Chris Brown’s Album – Too Long?
Damaris:
“I selfishly just want the condensed Chris Brown... I know his fans love 27 records.” [39:58]
Vibes & Patois:
Mall jokes about Chris’s “patois” phase, linking it to personal experiences in Jamaica.
“Chris, you supposed to let that wear off real quick...” — Mall [40:56]
Comparing Albums:
The crew agrees Chris’s debut is classic, but wrestle with whether he’s released a “quintessential” album since.
“His first album is his classic to me... there are no skips.” — Rory [44:48]
Concert Ticket Prices/Law Suit:
The Live Nation and Ticketmaster lawsuit is discussed in-depth regarding monopoly practices and exorbitant fees.
“It’s a monopoly. That’s why they get away with all these random charges...” — Damaris [50:03]
[54:48 – 68:20]
Don Toliver’s Rise:
The hosts debate Don Toliver’s status as the “hottest rapper” and praise his sustained album momentum.
“Octane numbers are... should be studied. I’ve never seen an album maintain in this era the way Octane has.” — Damaris [54:55]
Rolling Loud Mayhem:
The trio react to viral Rolling Loud moments: stage mishaps, performer critiques, and viral crowd antics (like someone being hit with a recycling bin).
On Performance Standards:
Mall and Damaris stress that live artists should be held to higher standards, especially regarding rapping live versus over their vocal tracks.
“I paid to see a show. I didn’t pay to hear you do karaoke.” — Mall [66:06]
[61:19 – 68:51]
Nicki Minaj’s Influence:
Conversation about up-and-coming rapper Trim and strong Nicki Minaj influences among new female rappers.
“This one is like carbon copy shit, but with a lot of the bigger female rappers... It’s Nicki’s DNA everywhere.” — Damaris [62:23]
Live Performance Critiques:
The discussion expands into how Rolling Loud exposes new artists—highlighting the importance of breath control and stage readiness.
[95:24 – 104:34]
New York Knicks Playoff Performance:
The crew celebrates the Knicks sweeping the Sixers—but Damaris expresses unease, suspecting the good streak can’t last forever (“PTSD as a Knicks fan”).
“It’s going way too good and I don’t like it.” — Damaris [95:50]
Playoff Match-Ups:
Breakdown of potential matchups and strategic worries with teams like Pistons or Thunder.
LeBron’s Future:
The possibility of LeBron’s looming retirement comes up, along with jokes about whether he’s waiting to play with both sons, Bronny and Bryce.
[86:25 – 95:16]
Roast Reactions:
General agreement that the Roast was strong, with The Rock and Cheryl Underwood standing out.
“The Rock came out—it was clear... there’s celebrities and then there’s The Rock.” — Mall [87:12]
Cat Williams’ Surprise Appearance:
Noted surprise that Kevin Hart didn’t know Cat Williams would appear on the panel.
Harsh Jokes and Roast Culture:
Discussion on the boundaries of roast humor (including suicide jokes) and how roast settings have their own rules.
“At a roast, you can’t be sensitive… Pete Davidson’s dad died in 9/11. You think they were holding punches?” — Mall [94:00]
On Industry Opportunism:

On Retirement Announcements:

“Fans retire rappers. Rappers don’t retire.” — Damaris [34:48]
On Ticket Prices:
“Even with inflation…$850? That’s insane.” — Rory [50:12]
On Live Shows:
“I paid to see a show. I didn’t pay to hear you do karaoke.” — Mall [66:06]
On Roast Boundaries:
“At a roast, you can’t be sensitive… Don’t even go up there if you can’t handle it.” — Mall [93:48]
